First team advances to NJPW Super Junior Tag League 2025 finals

DOUKI & SHO have booked their spot in the NJPW Super Junior Tag League 2025 finals.

A matchup of undefeated teams headlined night seven of Super Junior Tag League on Thursday. It was DOUKI & SHO who were able to maintain their perfect record, defeating YOH & Master Wato for the right to represent A Block in the November 2 tournament final.

Here are the full results from Thursday:

  • A Block: DOUKI & SHO defeated YOH & Master Wato
  • A Block: Ryusuke Taguchi & Dragon Dia defeated Hiromu Takahashi & Gedo
  • A Block: Templario & Jakob Austin Young defeated Clark Connors & Daiki Nagai
  • Taiji Ishimori, Robbie X & OSKAR defeated Robbie Eagles, Kosei Fujita & Hartley Jackson

The last B Block show of the tournament takes place on Saturday leading into Sunday’s finals. Three teams are still alive in B Block, with Robbie Eagles & Kosei Fujita having the clearest path to the finals with a win or draw against Taiji Ishimori & Robbie X. A victory would put Ishimori & Robbie X in position to advance — but the possibility of a three-way tie still exists if KUSHIDA & Yuki Yoshioka were to also win their last match.

DOUKI & SHO are the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. If they lose in the finals, the winning team should earn a shot at their belts.

NJPW Super Junior Tag League: Updated standings and scenarios

Three teams remain alive heading in to tomorrow’s final night of Super Junior Tag League action.

Taiji Ishimori and El Phantasmo remain undefeated following today’s NJPW Summer Struggle show in Tokyo. They defeated the previously unbeaten Robbie Eagles and Tiger Mask. El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru also won, meaning that tomorrow’s main event could decide the tournament winner.

Here are the scenarios:

If Ishimori and ELP defeat Desperado and Kanemaru tomorrow, they win the tournament.

If Desperado and Kanemaru beat Ishimori and ELP tomorrow and Eagles and Tiger lose to Ryusuke Taguchi and Master Wato, Desperado and Kanemaru will win the tournament.

If Desperado and Kanemaru win and Eagles and Tiger also win, there would be a three-way tie at the top of the block by virtue of Eagles and Tiger holding a win over Desperado and Kanemaru.

A playoff match three-way would then likely be announced for next week’s Summer Struggle events.

Here are the updated standings and schedule for the tournament:

Standings —

  • Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo 8 points (4-0)
  • El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru 6 points (3-1)
  • Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask 6 points (3-1)
  • Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato 4 points (2-2) *eliminated*
  • SHO & YOH 0 points (0-4) *eliminated*
  • Gedo & Dick Togo 0 points (0-4) *eliminated*

Schedule —

NJPW Summer Struggle, Tuesday, August 17, 5:30 a.m. Eastern time on NJPW World —

  • Super Jr. Tag League: Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo vs. El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru

  • Super Jr. Tag League: SHO & YOH vs. Gedo & Dick Togo
