WWE SmackDown video highlights: Shane ‘fires’ Kevin Owens

WWE was back at Madison Square Garden for last night’s SmackDown.

The show ended with Shane McMahon “firing” Kevin Owens. With Elias unable to wrestle last night due to an ankle injury, Shane inserted himself into the King of the Ring semifinals against Chad Gable. Shane made Owens the special guest referee for the match and suggested that he would rescind Owens’ $100,000 fine if Owens helped him win.

Owens quickly counted to three when Gable pinned Shane early in the match. Shane then added a two-out-of-three falls stipulation, but he ended up tapping out to an ankle lock after Owens stopped him from using a steel chair. After the match, Shane attacked Owens and fired him.

Gable will face Baron Corbin in the King of the Ring finals on Raw next Monday.

The Undertaker made an appearance at MSG in last night’s opening segment. After being interrupted by Sami Zayn, Undertaker laid him out with a chokeslam.

Ten years after leg dropping Randy Orton through a table at MSG, Kofi Kingston recreated history by doing the same last night. Kingston will defend his WWE Championship against Orton at Clash of Champions this Sunday.

KO Show segment, Kofi Kingston interview set for WWE SmackDown

WWE has announced two segments for tonight’s go-home episode of SmackDown.

WWE is hyping that Kevin Owens has invited Shane McMahon to appear on the KO Show tonight. Kofi Kingston will also respond to Randy Orton in an “exclusive interview.”

Owens vs. Shane is set for SummerSlam. The match has a stipulation where Owens will quit WWE if he loses.

Shane didn’t make an in-person appearance on SmackDown last week, with the storyline explanation being that Shane’s life coach told him that he needed to get centered and get his emotions in check after being attacked by Owens.

Owens defeated Drew McIntyre last Tuesday.

Kingston will defend his WWE Championship against Orton at Sunday’s pay-per-view. Last week, a video package aired where Orton discussed their history against each other and called Kingston stupid for challenging him to a match at SummerSlam.

Tonight’s SmackDown is taking place at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. WWE has announced that Roman Reigns will appear on the show. Reigns’ mystery attacker angle continued last night, with someone trying to run Reigns down with their car while he was in the parking lot.

Owens and Reigns ended up fighting off all three and laying out Shane to close the show.

Shawn Michaels made an appearance on Miz TV last night and was given a superkick by Dolph Ziggler.

Ember Moon defeated Charlotte Flair after a distraction from Bayley. Moon then laid out both Charlotte and Bayley with The Eclipse.

WWE posted a video last night where Owens issued the challenge to Shane and said he’d quit if he lost. On SmackDown, Shane brought up that Owens has said he was quitting before. Shane wanted to get the stipulation put into writing.

Owens cut a promo on Shane on SmackDown two weeks ago and called him out for taking up television time from other wrestlers. Their storyline saw Owens lay out Shane with stunners on SmackDown the past two weeks.

  • Universal Champion Brock Lesnar defending against Seth Rollins
  • WWE Champion Kofi Kingston defending against Randy Orton

WWE SmackDown live results: Shane McMahon’s town hall meeting

The build to SummerSlam continues as SmackDown takes place from the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Shane McMahon hosts a town hall meeting with the roster tonight. Last week, McMahon banned Kevin Owens from the arena, but Owens returned later. Owens complained about McMahon taking away TV time from the talent. Tonight, McMahon gives the roster a chance to air their grievances.

Daniel Bryan promises to make a huge career-changing announcement tonight. Bryan gave a passionate interview after losing the SmackDown Tag Team titles at Extreme Rules. He was devastated over losing the titles but soon realized he has another purpose.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The IIconics defend against The Kabuki Warriors tonight. Asuka and Kairi Sane earned the title shot after defeating the champions a few weeks ago in Tokyo, Japan in a non-title match.

Plus, Ember Moon and a mystery partner take on Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

Earlier today, Shane McMahon met Kevin Owens in the back with security. McMahon mentioned the town hall meeting later. McMahon’s not going to let Owens speak lies about him.

Owens pointed out he works for WWE, not Shane. McMahon didn’t want Owens involved in the town hall meeting and barred him from the building.

In the ring, McMahon stood alone with the SmackDown roster on the stage. They recapped McMahon & Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns & Undertaker from Extreme Rules.

McMahon pointed out that Owens has the night off. Owens gave him the idea to host the town hall. Any superstar can say whatever they want. There were two microphones set up in front of the roster.

Roman Reigns walked up to the mic. He said nobody on the roster likes Shane and told McMahon to kiss his ass. McMahon fined Reigns for that comment. McMahon then asked Charlotte Flair to approach the mic. She was shocked by Reigns comments and Owens actions. She praised McMahon and his family.

Liv Morgan interrupted and complained about Flair. Flair didn’t realize Morgan still had a job.

Flair pointed out that Owens said Morgan’s name last week. Morgan tried to respond, but McMahon interrupted her and wants to move on.

He called up Buddy Murphy. Murphy doesn’t need Owens to fight his battle and thinks Owens should keep his name out of his mouth. McMahon liked Murphy and wants to speak with him later.

McMahon then called up Apollo Crews who Owens also mentioned last week. Crews said the entire roster agreed with Owens comments. Zelina Vega interrupted and challenged Crews to a match for later against Andrade.

Elias approached the mic, but New Day interrupted before he could speak. Kofi Kingston pointed out he feuded with Owens but did agree with him. Kingston noted out all the obstacles in his way. Kingston’s mic cut off, and McMahon ended the meeting. The roster walked off.

Cesaro walked down to the ring. McMahon pointed out that he’s on Raw, not SmackDown. Cesaro challenged Aleister Black for later.

McMahon began addressing the fans when Kevin Owens appeared and nailed McMahon with the Stunner. Initially, they messed up the Stunner, but Owens hit it on the second try. The town hall was a bit of a mess with a lot going on.

Aleister Black defeated Cesaro

This was an excellent hard-hitting match. They traded hard shots early, but Black gained the advantage. He sent Cesaro to the floor with a hard kick. He teased a dive but hit a black flip into his pose.

During the break, Cesaro took over and rocked Black with uppercuts. Black fought back, but Cesaro lifted him and hit an uppercut for a near fall. He slowed the pace down with a chin lock.

Black made a comeback and hit a moonsault for a near fall. Cesaro hit an uppercut and boot for a two count. Cesaro transited into the cross face, but Black rolled him up from a near fall.

Cesaro went shoulder-first into the ring post, and Black hit Black Mass for the win.

In the back, Dolph Ziggler approached Shane McMahon. Ziggler thinks he should be the one to take care of Owens.

McMahon said it’s too late because Owens left. Ziggler promised he could make the match happen.

They aired Daniel Bryan’s post-Extreme Rules interview. He was furious about losing the tag titles and not elevating the division. He began speaking in a low voice and said he has to go someplace he’s never gone before.

Charlotte Flair defeated Liv Morgan

Flair shoved Morgan to the ground. Morgan fired up and hit a hurricanrana and a dropkick. Flair quickly took over and hit hard chops. Morgan fought back and scored a two count.

Morgan attempted another hurricanrana, but Flair caught her and hit a powerbomb. Flair won the match using the Figure Eight.

Morgan limped over to the commentators and grabbed Corey Graves’s headset. She said Flair was right and when she comes back, she’s going to be real.

In the back, Dolph Ziggler got Kevin Owens phone number from the referee.

Ember Moon & SmackDown Woman’s Champion Bayley defeated Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville

The heels jumped the faces to gain an early advantage. Bayley fought back with a back suplex. Moon got the hot tag and ran wild on Rose. Bayley took out Deville with a Bayley-to-Belly and Moon hit the Eclipse on Rose for the win.

After the match, Kayla Braxton interviewed Bayley and Moon. Braxton asked about Bayley’s next challenger for SummerSlam.

Bayley said she’s happy to be done with Alexa Bliss and is ready to elevate the Woman’s SmackDown division. Bayley offered Moon a title shot, and Moon accepted the challenge.

In the back, Sara Schreiber interviewed Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. He said he’s ready to reign down chaos on SmackDown. Ali approached Nakamura and congratulated him on winning the title.

Daniel Bryan and Rowan were on their way to the ring for Bryan’s career-changing announcement.

They recapped Shane McMahon barring Kevin Owens from the building. Tom Philips noted that Owens is on his way back to face Dolph Ziggler.

The New Day made their way down to the ring. On commentary, Tom Philips pointed out Daniel Bryan was supposed to make his announcement.

Xavier Woods noted Kofi Kingston retained the WWE Championship against Samoa Joe. Kingston discussed Woods and Big E winning the SmackDown tag team titles. Big E said they know what the announcement is and accepted Bryan’s challenge for the tag titles.

Bryan and Rowan walked down the aisle. Bryan walked off but then came back out. He acted as if he was going to speak but again walked off. They walked back out and again teased speaking.

The fans broke into a “New Day Rocks” chant. Bryan dropped the mic and finally left.

Samoa Joe’s music hit, and he walked out. Joe challenged Kingston for the WWE Championship tonight.

Elias walked out and noted Joe already had a title shot. He said he’s ready to challenge for the title. Randy Orton then walked out and demanded a title shot as well.

Elias noted that all three couldn’t get a title shot tonight but they can team up against New Day. New Day agreed to the challenge, but Orton changed his mind. He started to walk off. Kingston thought the Viper would be ready to strike, but instead, he’s gone limp. Orton turned around and walked towards the ring.

Randy Orton, Elias & Samoa Joe defeated The New Day

Big E hit a splash on Joe for a near fall. Big E and Woods hit a wheelbarrow into a pin for a two count. Woods hit the honor roll on Elias for a near fall. Orton interfered, and Elias took over on Woods.

The heels isolated Woods and cut him off from his partners. Kingston and Big E got knocked off the apron. Joe rocked Big E with a boot on the floor. Elias placed Woods on the top turnbuckle, but Woods fought back. Woods hit a missile dropkick and Kingston got the hot tag.

Kingston went from Trouble In Paradise on Orton, but he avoided. Orton attempted the RKO, but Kingston fought off. Kingston hit a cross body, but Elias broke up the pin.

Woods sent Joe to the floor and hit a huge dive. Joe applied the Coquina Clutch on Woods and Elias took out Big E with a knee.

Kingston rocked Elias with Trouble In Paradise. He turned around, and Orton hit the RKO for the win.

In the back, Carmella found 24/7 Champion R-Truth hiding in a washing machine. Carmella told him to hide out at comic-con instead.

The Kabuki Warriors (w/Paige) defeated WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The IIconics Count Out

This was kept short. The Warriors used a series of double team moves to score a near fall. The IIconics briefly took over. Asuka rocked Kay with a kick, and she rolled to the floor. Kay was about to enter but took the count-out loss instead.

The Kabuki Warriors jumped the champions after the match. Kairi Sane hit the Insane Elbow on Kay.

Apollo Crews defeated Andrade (w/Zelina Vega)

Andrade jumped Crews as he entered the ring. The referee checked on Crews before ringing the bell. Andrade was firmly in control and rocked Crews with a back elbow.

Andrade hit the double knees in the corner and went for the pin. Crews reversed and rolled up Andrade for the win.

They recapped Bray Wyatt’s appearance on Raw last night attacking Finn Bálor.

Kevin Owens defeated Dolph Ziggler

Owens walked slowly to the ring, looking over both of his shoulders. Ziggler went for a superkick, but he avoided. Owens attempted the Stunner, but Ziggler rolled to the floor. Owens hit a dive to the floor. He went for a Swanton Bomb, but Ziggler got the knees up.

Ziggler slowed the pace down and applied the cross face. Owens fought back but missed a charge in the corner. Ziggler hit a DDT for a close near fall.

Ziggler missed a splash and Owens hit a superkick. Owens hit the Swanton on his second try for a two count.

Shane McMahon came down to the ring with a bunch of wrestlers including Drew McIntyre, Elias, B Team, AOP, Andrade, Samoa Joe, Buddy Murphy and more.

Owens was distracted, and Ziggler hit the Zig-Zag for a two count. Ziggler was firmly in control and sent Owens into the ring post twice. He went for the superkick, but Owens countered with the Stunner.

McMahon pulled Owens out of the ring, but Owens hit the Stunner on McMahon. Owens then ran to the back with a bunch of superstars chasing him.

Kayla Braxton interviewed McMahon, and he said Owens is going to pay for this.

WWE Raw video highlights: Roman Reigns teams with Cedric Alexander

Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre teamed against Roman Reigns and a partner of Shane’s choosing in the main event of Raw’s go-home show for Extreme Rules.

Shane paid Gary “The GOAT” Garbutt — a custodian from the arena — $5,000 to team with Reigns. Shane & McIntyre said they’d get Gary a mask, but it instead ended up being Cedric Alexander who wore it. He got some offense in while masked, but Shane & McIntyre won anyway after McIntyre gave “Gary” a Claymore Kick.

Reigns hit a Superman Punch on McIntyre after the match, and Alexander unmasked to reveal that it was him who teamed with Reigns.

A Beat the Clock Challenge on the episode decided the stipulation for Sunday’s SmackDown Women’s Championship match. After winning faster than Bayley did, Nikki Cross revealed that Bayley will now defend her title against Alexa Bliss & Cross in a handicap match at Extreme Rules.

Cross cut a promo and told Bayley to find a friend who is as loyal and honest as Bliss and who could slap some sense into Bayley. Bayley then laid out Cross with a Bayley-to-Belly and flying elbow drop.

Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch defeated Andrade & Zelina Vega in an elimination match. Rollins & Lynch were attacked by Baron Corbin & Lacey Evans after, and WWE questioned what would happen to their relationship if they lose to Corbin & Evans on Sunday.

Two tag matches made official for Monday’s WWE Raw

Two tag matches have been made official for Monday’s episode of Raw.

WWE has confirmed that Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch will team against Andrade & Zelina Vega on Monday (July 8). Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre will also face Roman Reigns and a partner of Shane’s choosing.

The mixed tag match was set up this Wednesday, with WWE posting a video where Vega & Andrade issued a challenge to Lynch & Rollins. Lynch & Rollins then accepted the challenge via Twitter.

Lynch & Rollins defeated Maria & Mike Kanellis on Raw this week, with Maria revealing her pregnancy during the match.

Monday’s Raw is taking place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and is the go-home show for Extreme Rules. Rollins’ Universal Championship and Lynch’s Raw Women’s Championship will be on the line as they face Baron Corbin & Lacey Evans in a winners-take-all mixed tag match at the pay-per-view.

Rollins & Lynch vs. Corbin & Evans also has an extreme rules stipulation.

Reigns & The Undertaker are facing Shane & McIntyre in a no holds barred match at Extreme Rules. Monday’s tag match has a stipulation where Undertaker will be removed from Extreme Rules if he interferes.

Stipulation set for Undertaker & Reigns vs. Shane & McIntyre

A no holds barred stipulation is set for one of the top matches at Extreme Rules.

While appearing on a KO Show segment at the start of this week’s SmackDown, Shane McMahon announced that The Undertaker & Roman Reigns vs. Shane & Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules will now be a no holds barred match.

The Undertaker & Reigns vs. Shane & McIntyre was announced for Extreme Rules after Undertaker made a save for Reigns on last week’s Raw and took out Shane and McIntyre.

This is the second stipulation match that’s been confirmed for Extreme Rules thus far. Universal Champion Seth Rollins & Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Baron Corbin & Lacey Evans will be an extreme rules match. It also has a winners-take-all stipulation where Rollins and Lynch’s titles are both on the line.

The Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is hosting Extreme Rules on July 14. Here’s the updated card for the pay-per-view:

  • The Undertaker & Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre in a no holds barred match
  • Universal Champion Seth Rollins & Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch defending against Baron Corbin & Lacey Evans in an extreme rules match (winners-take-all stipulation with both titles on the line)
  • WWE Champion Kofi Kingston defending against Samoa Joe
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley defending against Alexa Bliss
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan & Rowan defending against Big E & Xavier Woods and Heavy Machinery in a triple threat match
  • WWE Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak defending against Tony Nese

Roman Reigns & Undertaker teaming together at WWE Extreme Rules

The Undertaker is officially set for a match at Extreme Rules.

Roman Reigns & The Undertaker will take on Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules. The pay-per-view is being held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 14.

The match was set up by The Undertaker’s surprise appearance on tonight’s post-Stomping Grounds edition of Raw. Shane & McIntyre faced Reigns in a handicap match where they could be in the ring at the same time and didn’t have to make tags. Undertaker made the save for Reigns and took out both Shane & McIntyre.

This will be the second time that The Undertaker has wrestled in 2019. He defeated Goldberg at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia earlier this month.

In what appeared like it was going to be Undertaker’s retirement match at the time, Reigns defeated Undertaker at WrestleMania 33 in 2017

Universal Champion Seth Rollins & Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Baron Corbin & Lacey Evans has also been confirmed for Extreme Rules. The Universal and Raw Women’s Championships will both be on the line, with the winning team getting the respective titles.

Tag Team title match, two segments confirmed for WWE Raw

A Tag Team title match and a couple of segments have been made official for this Monday’s episode of Raw.

WWE has announced that Raw Tag Team Champions Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins will defend their titles against The Revival on the episode. A Miz TV segment with Samoa Joe is also set, and Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre will celebrate Shane’s win against Roman Reigns from Super ShowDown.

Ryder & Hawkins became Raw Tag Team Champions by defeating The Revival on the WrestleMania 35 pre-show. They haven’t had a televised title defense since retaining against The Revival on the Raw after WrestleMania.

The Revival lost to The Usos on the Super ShowDown pre-show this past Friday.

Rey Mysterio relinquished the United States title to Samoa Joe last week, with Mysterio giving up the title due to a shoulder injury. Mysterio had won the title from Samoa Joe at Money in the Bank, though Joe’s shoulder was up when he was pinned.

Before Shane pinned Reigns at Super ShowDown, McIntyre hit a Claymore Kick on Reigns while the referee wasn’t looking. Reigns will face McIntyre at Stomping Grounds in Tacoma, Washington on June 23.

This week’s Raw is taking place at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.

R-Truth loses, wins back WWE 24/7 title on SmackDown

R-Truth lost the WWE 24/7 title tonight on SmackDown, but regained it during the closing moments of the show.

As usual, R-Truth was being chased around by many of the WWE undercard stars. He and Drake Maverick ended up being in the ring, with Truth pinning Maverick to retain the title. But he did this while Shane McMahon, Elias and Drew McIntyre were in the ring, celebrating Shane McMahon Appreciation Night. All three men attacked Truth, with Elias pinning him to win the title.

Shane McMahon then bended the rules by suspending the 24/7 stipulation so that Elias could fully prepare for the main event, where R-Truth joined forces with Roman Reigns to take on Elias and Drew McIntyre. Reigns won the match by pinning Elias.

Reigns speared Elias after the match, then motioned a recovering R-Truth to cover him. He then did just that, pinning him to win back the championship. This would make Truth the first ever two-time WWE 24/7 champion.

Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon set for WWE Super ShowDown

The card for WWE’s return to Saudi Arabia is now up to six announced matches.

It was announced on tonight’s Raw that Roman Reigns will face Shane McMahon at Super ShowDown in Jeddah on Friday, June 7. The event is taking place at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium and will air live on the WWE Network starting at 2 p.m. Eastern time.

Shane interrupted Reigns during an in-ring segment on tonight’s Raw. Reigns issued a challenge to Shane for tonight, but Shane instead accepted it for Saudi Arabia. Shane also brought out Drew McIntyre, with them now aligned together and McIntyre serving as protection for Shane.

WWE has begun hyping Super ShowDown by saying it will be as good or better than WrestleMania. The show is part of WWE’s 10-year deal with the Saudi General Sports Authority.

Here’s the updated card for Super ShowDown:

  • Goldberg vs. The Undertaker
  • Triple H vs. Randy Orton
  • Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon
  • Braun Strowman vs. Bobby Lashley
  • Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor (as his Demon character) defending against Andrade
  • 50-man battle royal

Shane McMahon to crown new tag champs on WWE SmackDown

WWE is hyping that new SmackDown Tag Team Champions will be crowned on Tuesday night.

WWE.com announced today that Shane McMahon will crown new SmackDown Tag Team Champions on Tuesday’s episode: “With the state of both the blue brand’s tag team division and the titles in question, Shane McMahon will arrive on SmackDown LIVE this Tuesday to crown new SmackDown Tag Team Champions. What will Shane-O-Mac decree? Find out this Tuesday night.”

The Hardys vacated the SmackDown Tag Team titles this week due to Jeff Hardy having to undergo knee surgery. Jeff said he needed his whole right knee repaired and would be out of action for six to nine months.

After undergoing surgery, Jeff posted a video on Thursday night and said “let the healing begin.”

Shane will face The Miz in a steel cage match at Money in the Bank on May 19. He’s also been aligned with Elias in a program against Roman Reigns, with Elias vs. Reigns set for Money in the Bank.

On SmackDown this week, Shane made a match where Reigns faced The B-Team (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas). Elias was a special guest referee/enforcer for the match. Elias went to hit Reigns with a guitar, Reigns gave him a Superman punch, and the other referee counted the pin when Reigns speared Axel.

Miz vs. Shane McMahon cage match set for WWE Money in the Bank

While ladder matches are the theme of Money in the Bank, this year’s pay-per-view will also feature a steel cage match.

The Miz vs. Shane McMahon in a steel cage match was announced for Money in the Bank on tonight’s Raw. The PPV is taking place at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut on May 19.

Miz lost to Bobby Lashley on this week’s Raw after Shane caused a distraction. There was then a post-match angle where Shane attacked Miz. Miz fought back, but Bobby Lashley gave him a spinebuster. Shane continued to attack Miz and put him in a submission.

Later on tonight’s episode, Miz did an interview where he challenged Shane to the steel cage match at Money in the Bank. Shane tweeted that he accepts Miz’s challenge: “Challenge accepted, @mikethemiz. Looking forward to delivering another ‘Best in the World’ beating…and by the way I’d be happy to buy your father a front row ticket! #MITB”

Here’s the updated lineup for Money in the Bank:
