Seth Rollins returns to Good Morning Football after staged altercation with co-host

Seth Rollins returned to Good Morning Football on Friday and revealed that his walk-off from the show the previous day had been staged.

Ahead of Thursday’s NFL Draft, Rollins walked off the set after an argument with co-host Kyle Brandt. On Friday’s episode, Rollins returned and immediately got into a stare down with Brandt before the two suddenly changed demeanors, laughed, and hugged.

They explained that the altercation had been planned and said the idea came from Brandt. Both Rollins and Brandt mentioned that they received messages from people who believed the incident was legitimate.

“I had a Pro Football Hall of Famer text me yesterday being like, ‘Oh my God, what the heck was that? Are you all right?’ First-ballot Hall of Famer, too,” Brandt said.

Rollins responded, “I had a very, very high-ranking official in my own company, I won’t name names, send me a voice note making sure that he didn’t have to get involved with Good Morning Football.

I don’t know what the plan was. I don’t know what he was thinking, but kudos to you. This was your brainchild.”

Rollins is a regular co-host on the NFL Network show. It was announced last August that he would be joining the cast as a regular co-host after making repeated appearances as a guest host in recent years.

Seth Rollins walks off set during Good Morning Football appearance

A clip of Seth Rollins walking off the set of Good Morning Football is currently circulating online.

Similar to other recent incidents involving WWE wrestlers walking off the set of interviews, it is not clear whether this was a real or staged event.

Rollins is a regular guest host on the NFL Network show and on Thursday joined Kyle Brandt to discuss tonight’s NFL Draft. The two got into an argument when comparing the athleticism of wrestlers and football players.

“Any seventh round pick tonight can go off the top rope. They can do that stuff,” Brandt said.

Rollins responded, “I don’t have to do this. I don’t have to be here. I don’t have to be on your show.”

When asked if he wanted to be on the show, Rollins answered:

“I do want to be here, but not when I’m treated like this. I don’t have to do this. I don’t have to.”

Roman Reigns has plenty of challengers post-WWE WrestleMania 42  | Opinion

Roman Reigns did what he set out to do at WWE WrestleMania 42 Sunday — to both beat CM Punk in his first ever Mania main event and take away his World Heavyweight Championship in the process.

Following the win, there is plenty of talk on who could be next for Reigns including WWE’s interest in pitting him against Gunther after his big win on Saturday over Seth Rollins.

Two years after a dominant 1316-day reign as Universal Champion, the WWE roster has undergone an shakeup with new names and new challengers since that run.

While Jacob Fatu appears to be up first, here’s a few other contenders who could challenge Reigns for the title this year.

Oba Femi

In the WrestleMania post-show, Femi called out the new champion fresh off his own win over former Reigns rival Brock Lesnar. When Reigns made his appearance on the panel later, fans started chanting for Femi and ‘Oba’s gonna kill you’ (in addition to an anti-TKO chant). Reigns acknowledged them, claiming that Femi did a big thing at WrestleMania 42 with his performance but he had already accomplished that multiple times.

After checking Lesnar off from his list of dominated opponents, it seems inevitable that he will challenge Reigns for the title at some point. However, WWE needs to let the feud develop gradually as a rushed match between the two, especially a premature title match, could do more harm than good.

Seth Rollins

When The Vision turned on Rollins in October, he was forced to relinquish the very title Reigns just won. Since Rollins never actually lost the title in a match, it’s a natural that he gets his shot back at some point. But, that opportunity might take a while especially after Bron Breakker’s return at WrestleMania where he cost Rollins his match against Gunther.

Even if Rollins challenges Reigns for the title later in the year, their long and complex history ensures plenty of unfinished business. The last time they stood opposite each other in the ring in a singles match was at the Royal Rumble in 2022 and at WrestleMania 40, Rollins sided with Cody Rhodes to take on Reigns and The Rock.

A key takeaway from their last singles match is that Rollins defeated Reigns via DQ. Rollins’ mind games – making his entrance to The Shield’s theme song, wearing the disbanded group’s signature gear and taunting their gesture of bumping fists during the bout led to Reigns snapping.

LA Knight

Knight was one of the many stars who stood up to Reigns in 2023 and challenged him for the then-Universal Title, squaring off at Crown Jewel that year.

In the buildup of their feud, Knight was unfazed by Reigns’ status with one memorable instance being Knight interrupting Reigns’ entrance for their contract signing.

Since then, Knight has received mixed reactions from the WWE fans. While some still root for him to get his main event spotlight, a few remain hesitant on whether he should be there.

The possibility of Knight facing off against Reigns again this year carries major implications. He made it clear to Gunther on Monday’s Raw that is where he is looking.

Bron Breakker

In the aftermath of WrestleMania last year, Rollins’ new alliance with Paul Heyman led to The Vision’s origin. They were joined by Bron Breakker and a couple of months later, Bronson Reed joined the fold.

By July 2025, during the budding rivalry between Jey Uso and Reigns against Rollins, Breakker and Reed, Reigns warned them about confiding in Rollins which Breakker took issue with and called him the “old dog” in the yard, mocking his relevancy dating back five years ago. At SummerSlam last year, Uso and Reigns defeated The Vision.

Breakker has already announced his thirst for winning a World title. Challenging Reigns for the title would capitalize on his momentum and give him a chance to prove himself against an established, dominant competitor. Win or lose, Breakker squaring off against Reigns would signal him as a top tier talent on the WWE roster. He just needs to get past Rollins first.

Bron Breakker returns at WWE WrestleMania 42

An injury disrupted his WrestleMania plans, but Bron Breakker still ended up playing a big role on Saturday night.

The returning Breakker interfered in Seth Rollins vs. Gunther at WWE WrestleMania 42 night one, costing Rollins the match as the two resumed their rivalry. Breakker laid out Rollins with a spear before Gunther used a sleeper to pick up the victory.

Rollins had momentum on his side after giving Gunther a Pedigree onto the announce table and delivering a stomp. But Breakker then ran down and laid out Rollins. After the match, Breakker sprinted down the entrance ramp so he could give Rollins another spear. Breakker then posed with Paul Heyman on the stage.

In February, Breakker was forced out of action due to hernia surgery. He was cleared in time for WrestleMania, but WWE decided to hold off his return until tonight. Breakker vs. Rollins was considered as a potential WrestleMania match at one point as the card took shape over the past few months.

Both Rollins and Breakker suffered injuries on the road to WrestleMania. Tonight was Rollins’ first match since October 2025, when he was sidelined due to a shoulder injury that required surgery. At that time, WWE wrote Rollins off television in an angle where Breakker turned against him and kicked him out of The Vision.

Appearing on The Bill Simmons Podcast ahead of WrestleMania, WWE President Nick Khan named Breakker as one of WWE’s biggest stars for the future. Khan said everyone in WWE is on the same page about Breakker’s path, saying they can’t rush him and need to let him develop at his own pace.

Paul Heyman confirms original WWE WrestleMania 42 plans for four top stars

For the first time in many years, no Paul Heyman guy is set to main event WWE WrestleMania; however, Heyman recently made it clear that WWE’s original plans for WrestleMania would’ve seen something else.

In the past few months, WWE altered several of its WrestleMania plans due to injuries and other creative decisions. During an interview with his son, Jacob, on Instagram, Paul Heyman was asked if he was upset with the lack of representation on WrestleMania’s main event scene this year.

The Hall of Famer opened up and revealed that WrestleMania’s original scrapped plans included him being involved in the main event.

I don’t think it’s a big secret that everything was driving this year to be Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns, and then that fell apart. And then it was going to be Bron Breakker vs CM Punk, and that fell apart,” Heyman said. “So I was in line to be a part of the main event this year, and fate intervened not once but even twice.”

However, it is also to be noted that these were not the two main events for WrestleMania’s two nights. Instead, these were just the planned World title matches with Breakker vs. Punk coming after the Rollins vs. Reigns match was scrapped.

When Rollins vs. Reigns was planned for the World title, the Undisputed WWE Championship main event was rumored to be Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk.

However, later, when things changed due to Rollins’ injury, the World title plan was switched to Punk vs. Breakker, and the Undisputed Title was changed to Rhodes vs. Reigns.

Seth Rollins gives status update ahead of WWE WrestleMania 42

Seth Rollins is ready to return to the ring at WrestleMania 42, even if he isn’t quite feeling 100 percent yet.

On Thursday, Rollins made multiple appearances on ESPN to help promote WrestleMania, telling First Take that he feels great after the shoulder injury he suffered in October 2025. But Rollins at least played up the idea that he’s not completely at full strength going into his match against Gunther.

“As for the shoulder, it feels great,” Rollins said. “I don’t know that it’s 100 percent, but maybe 80-90 percent. And I’ll tell you what, my 80-90 percent is pretty good. Good enough to get us in a position here where we’ve got a match at WrestleMania against Gunther.”

Rollins suffered the shoulder injury at Crown Jewel: Perth last year and has been out of action for six months after undergoing surgery. This match against Gunther is his first match back. It’s a bout that came together fairly late in the game, with Rollins and Bron Breakker both suffering injuries that affected WWE’s WrestleMania plans. Though Breakker has been cleared, WWE decided to go with Rollins vs. Gunther at Mania.

When Rollins’ injury happened, he had to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship. He kept kayfabe on ESPN’s Get Up this morning when asked if he feels like he deserves a shot at either CM Punk or Roman Reigns after WrestleMania. Rollins said he needs to prove he’s back in form and capable of delivering in the ring like he did pre-injury.

The Rollins vs. Gunther match is part of the lineup for night one of WrestleMania 42 this Saturday.

Cody Rhodes names WWE WrestleMania 42 match he’s most looking forward to

Outside of his own match, Cody Rhodes is most looking forward to seeing Gunther and Seth Rollins clash at WrestleMania 42.

Rhodes stopped by ESPN’s Get Up on Tuesday morning to help promote WrestleMania. During the interview, he was asked to name which match he’s most excited to experience as a viewer.

“There’s always a little bit of that split between the sports entertainment and the wrestling. The sports and the entertainment,” Rhodes said. “And the one that’s old-school sports style that I really like, just good, old-fashioned wrestling: Gunther vs. Seth Rollins. I’m all about that. That’s a wrestlers’ wrestling match.”

The Gunther vs. Rollins bout is happening at night one of WrestleMania 42 this Saturday, which will be headlined by Rhodes defending his Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton. ESPN personality Pat McAfee has become a big part of that build and will be in Orton’s corner for the match. On Get Up, Rhodes described McAfee as a “rat” who is surrounded by people who don’t tell him “no” enough.

WrestleMania is Rollins’ first time competing in the ring since he suffered a shoulder injury while facing Rhodes at WWE Crown Jewel in October 2025. WWE ultimately landed on Gunther as his return opponent after multiple other ideas were considered.

Seth Rollins says first match back at WrestleMania 42 is ‘nerve-wracking’

Getting cleared in time for WrestleMania 42 was a concern for Seth Rollins after getting injured in October 2025. Despite which he is ready to face Gunther at the Premium Live Event keeping note of their career parallels.

Speaking with ESPN, Rollins talked about his history with Gunther who he’s known since their first in-ring encounter at Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) in 2019.

“He’s the real deal, that guy there’s no joke there. He’s legitimate. I mean you watch his body of work and I’ve been, this is a guy that I’ve known since he was Walter back in his wXw days in Germany. I crossed paths with him and he’s one of those guys that we have something very similar in that we came from kind of nowhere. No one really thought that we were going to be huge, major stars in the industry when we were young cats. And now we’re at a point where ‘here we are at Wrestlemania’, the Grandest Stage, two of the most renowned in-ring performers, the last two decades.”

“And this will be our first real go at it. We’ve had one in-ring encounter which was like seven years ago and this will be this will be an interesting test and especially for my first match back”

Talking about his mindset heading into WrestleMania 42, considering it’s his first match back in six months, he stated fans can expect the best version of him.

“As far as outcome is concerned, what I will predict is that I will put on a show because it’s Wrestlemania and that’s what I do. And so, if anybody out there is wondering what version of Seth Rollins we’re going to get, I promise you right now, I will look you dead in the eye. You are going to get the very best version. You are going to get the Wrestlemania version of Seth Rollins that you know and are accustomed to.”

He added that while it’s exciting, having a WrestleMania match as his first bout back post-injury is nerve-wracking especially without trial runs to ease into it.

“I’ve been jonesing for it. Yeah, it’s exciting. I mean, it’s nerve-wracking anytime you come back and your first match is at WrestleMania. You don’t even get a couple of trial runs or anything like that. You’re just into the fire.”

Rollins vs. Gunther is slated for Night One of WrestleMania 42 on April 18. Last month, he attacked Paul Heyman on Raw, and was arrested. On the March 30 edition of the show, Gunther ambushed Rollins further escalating their rivalry for the Premium Live Event.

Fight Game: What’s left for Chris Jericho in AEW?

John LaRocca and Garrett Gonzales return with a brand-new Fight Game to discuss some of the most topical things going on in pro wrestling this week.

They gave out their thumbs up and thumbs down before jumping into two main topics:

  • The first is about the return of Chris Jericho to AEW. What does he have left and why did he choose AEW over WWE?
  • Then, they focused on the Gunther vs. Seth Rollins match at WrestleMania 42, which John predicted last week, as well as the newly-made WrestleMania 42 matches.

They finished up with their Observe This segment, talking about stories from Dave Meltzer’s 1985 Observer Book. They went over the very first WrestleMania, gave thoughts from the rewatch, and also discussed Dave’s comments from 1985.

How Gunther vs. Seth Rollins WrestleMania 42 match came together

The current health status of Bron Breakker didn’t have a direct role in the making of Gunther vs. Seth Rollins for next month’s WWE WrestleMania 42, according to our Dave Meltzer.

The match between the former WWE World Heavyweight Champions came together on Monday’s Raw after Rollins took out Paul Heyman with a chair. The angle was discussed on Wrestling Observer Radio with Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez speculating the bout was made due to Breakker not being cleared.

On X Tuesday, Meltzer wrote the Gunther vs. Rollins match wasn’t made because Breakker wasn’t cleared in time and “that was the updated plan regardless.”

He later added, “There were multiple other ideas since that specific injury.”

Breakker and the also injured Bronson Reed took Rollins out in storyline last October to cover for Rollins’ shoulder surgery. Rollins made his return in February but without Breakker or even Reed to get revenge on.

The news comes after reports earlier this month that there was optimism for Breakker’s return before WrestleMania 42 as he recovers from hernia surgery.

Gunther was reportedly set to take on Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania before Mysterio got injured.

Seth Rollins vs. Gunther official for WWE WrestleMania 42

Seth Rollins and Gunther will do battle at WrestleMania.

The match was made during a show-long angle on Raw that saw Adam Pearce ask Paul Heyman if he had read his emails. Heyman ignored Pearce and headed to the ring to talk about Rollins instead. Pearce cut him off and announced that not only had all charges against Rollins had been dropped, but Rollins was also medically cleared.

This brought out the former head of The Vision who attacked Heyman from behind with a steel chair. He went for the stomp but suddenly was dragged out of the ring by Gunther, who had not been seen on television for the last few weeks. He dragged Rollins to the announce table and put him to sleep with a rear naked choke as he pointed to the WrestleMania sign.

Later backstage, Jackie Redmond asked Pearce for a medical update. Pearce said that Rollins was still cleared, and he’ll get his chance for revenge at WrestleMania.

Rollins returned to WWE at Elimination Chamber, targeting Paul Heyman who was out of action briefly after Rollins laid him out with a steel chair and a stomp. Heyman lured Rollins to the ringside area on last week’s Raw, only to have Rollins be escorted out by security after announcing he had filed a restraining order.

Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch announce new business venture

The husband-and-wife team of Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch are looking to hook fans up with a grande Americano—and we don’t mean the luchador.

The couple announced on Facebook they were founding AMO Coffee, and it would go on sale next month.

“For the past seven years, we’ve been traveling the world together,” Rollins said. “We’ve been trying different coffees in different countries, different continents, different cities all over the world. We’ve fallen in love with coffee, and AMO is our way of bringing that love to you.”

“And in the next few weeks we’re going to be having some big events,” Lynch added.

Lynch had teased the announcement on social media, posting a photo of a coffee stand and declaring “COFFEE IS LOVE.”

It’s not the first time Rollins has taken a sip of the coffee business. Seven years ago he helped open a coffee shop called 392Dport in his hometown of Davenport, Iowa. The shop is still going strong.

WWE Raw notes: Roman Reigns powerbombs CM Punk, Seth Rollins ‘arrested’

The road to WrestleMania 42 continued on this week’s Raw.

Paul Heyman came to the ring during Monday’s show in Boston all on his own. He called out Rollins, noting that with Austin Theory and Logan Paul being taken out earlier by the Usos and the rest of the Vision out of action, he was all alone. Rollins entered through the crowd and unmasked himself, but it was a ruse: Heyman informed Rollins that he was violating a restraining order he had requested.

Police started to escort Rollins to the back as Heyman used the opportunity to berate Rollins, at one point targeting his daughter. Rollins saw an opening near the entranceway and bolted back to the ring, laying out Heyman with a punch. Police caught up and placed Rollins in cuffs as Heyman looked on with an evil grin.

The main event of the show saw CM Punk come out to talk about what Roman Reigns said last week. He declared that he was proud of being old and wasn’t trying to run away from it unlike Reigns, accusing him of using Just For Men to cover up his grey hairs. He directed his attention to Jey Uso, who soon arrived and got confrontational. Jimmy followed suit and tried to diffuse the situation, telling Jey they should focus on their World Tag Team title match next week.

Jey and Punk continued to trade words until Reigns showed up. Like Jimmy, he attempted to diffuse the situation and told the Usos to leave. But as Reigns started to leave himself, Jey stopped the Tribal Chief and told him that he knew what he had to do. Reigns responded by spearing Punk, taking him out of the ring, and powerbombing him through the announce table.

After grabbing a motionless Punk and screaming in his face, Reigns walked to the back. Punk recovered and told officials that he wasn’t the one that needed help as Raw went off the air.

Update on planned WWE WrestleMania 42 matches | Exclusive

Dave Meltzer has an update on the currently planned WWE WrestleMania 42 card.

In today’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer wrote that in addition to the announced matches, Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu and AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch are expected to be added.

Meltzer wrote:

“Matches that have been confirmed to us on the show or announced are the two main events, Stephanie Vaquer vs. Liv Morgan and Jade Cargill vs. Rhea Ripley for the two different women’s titles, AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch for the IC title, Lesnar vs. Femi, and Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu. McIntyre vs. Fatu is scheduled for the 3/20 Smackdown show but it was described as something designed to heighten interest in their Mania match.”

Meltzer also speculated that Seth Rollins will either wrestle Logan Paul or Bron Breakker on the show, depending on if Breakker is healed from hernia surgery in time.

“In looking at other things, Seth Rollins vs. either Logan Paul or Bron Breakker seems like a likely direction. It has not been confirmed to us on whether Breakker will be ready after hernia surgery and we were [told] the Paul & Austin Theory vs. Usos direction does not necessarily mean Paul won’t be in that match and is unrelated.”

Theory & Paul vs. The Usos is scheduled for Monday’s edition of WWE Raw.

Earlier this month, there were reports that WWE is planning at least six women’s matches for the WrestleMania card this year. Meltzer added that a multi-team match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships could be added to the lineup.

Meltzer added:

“It certainly appears there will be a multiple team women’s tag title match with Nia Jax & Lash Legend, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, Bayley & Lyra Valkyria, Asuka & Kairi Sane and the Bella Twins all seeming to be in that mix. I could also see something similar for the Smackdown tag titles.”

Earlier this week, it was reported that Gunther vs. Rey Mysterio had been the plan for Mania before Mysterio suffered a rib injury.

“Gunther doesn’t seem to have any kind of a program. Some think Rey Mysterio, who has also been injured. A Grande Americano vs. Grande Americano mask vs. mask match would seem to be a direction, whether at this event or later,” Meltzer continued.

“Carmelo Hayes seems to be in the direction of Ilja Dragunov for the U.S. title, Trick Williams with Sami Zayn as well as Giulia vs. Tiffany Stratton for the US title.”

Meltzer further speculated about Jelly Roll’s possible involvement for WrestleMania 42 following his SmackDown appearance last week as a guest on The Miz TV.

“There seems the possibility of something involving Jelly Roll. But that looks to be most of the show right there given there are expected to be 14 to 16 total matches over the two nights.”

  • Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship
  • Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship
  • Stephanie Vaquer vs. Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship

Seth Rollins says he isn’t fully cleared for ‘real physicality’

Out of action and recovering from an injury for the past few months, Seth Rollins recently made his WWE return at Elimination Chamber; however, despite the return, Rollins has not been cleared for in-ring action.

Recently appearing on Good Morning Football and addressing his return, Rollins shared the latest update on his in-ring clearance (H/t Fightful).

I’ll tell you what, I’ll give the (Kansas City) Chiefs credit on this. They were a little more synchronized than my masked men were. The masked men were all over the place. There was a lot of jumble, a lot of two left feet going on in there. The Chiefs were more synchronized. However, I gotta say, one of these plays worked! And the other one didn’t!” Rollins said.

Alright, we executed to perfection. We got in there, we protected Seth Rollins, we confused everybody and we got out of there, and that is what we had to do because Seth Rollins, that’s me, I’m not cleared yet. I can’t get into any real physicality. I gotta protect this shoulder for maybe another couple weeks or so and then we’ll see if we need these masked men, if we need all this trickeration or not.

Further speaking, he opened up about the masked men shuffling segment on RAW, which was created to confuse Logan Paul and Austin Theory.

You know what? I was just hoping nobody lost a shoe,” Rollins said while laughing. “I was like, hopefully nobody falls over or nobody lost a shoe… When you’re dealing with a lot of bodies like that and a lot of moving parts in the ring, I was just hoping nobody blew out an ACL. I was hoping nobody lost a ligament in the knee there.”

Rollins suffered the injury at Crown Jewel 2025 during his match against Cody Rhodes while performing a coast-to-coast headbutt. He has remained out of action since.
