Peoria Civic Center issues statement on Scarlett WWE house show fan incident

The Peoria Civic Center has responded to a fan incident that happened at a WWE house show over the weekend.

The incident took place during a match where Karrion Kross faced Drew McIntyre at WWE’s house show in Peoria, Illinois on November 12. While Scarlett was at ringside, a fan threw a drink at her. The woman who threw the drink, along with what appeared to be members of their family, were escorted out by security and police.

The Peoria Civic Center commented on the incident through a statement that was released to WMBD News in Peoria. The arena’s director of sales and marketing said:

We are aware of the incident that took place at the WWE event on Saturday, November 12. Fortunately, our Peoria Civic Center security team along with the Peoria Police quickly identified the individuals responsible and escorted them out of the building for the remainder of the show. While we were disappointed in the actions of a couple and the brief distraction they caused, over 4,000 enthusiastic WWE fans were treated to a very entertaining event.

Peoria Police told WMBD News that no charges were filed and no arrests were made.

Scarlett also commented on the incident via a tweet that she posted on Saturday night.

“As a classy woman from Chicago, I’m not surprised that something like this would happen in Peoria,” Scarlett wrote. “PS. To the granny who threw the drink, your booze was as cheap as your hairdo.”

WWE SmackDown video highlights: Karrion Kross and Scarlett return

The Paul “Triple H” Levesque era continued to take effect last night with two more names from Levesque’s NXT returning.

Karrion Kross and Scarlett made their returns to WWE on last night’s SmackDown. Kross was immediately placed into the main event picture as he was involved in an angle with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre.

Kross attacked McIntyre in last night’s show-closing segment. Kross and Scarlett then sent a warning to Reigns, with Scarlett putting an hourglass in the ring and Kross motioning that Reigns’ time as champion is running out.

Kross and Scarlett were both released by WWE last November. Kross is a former NXT Champion but had an unsuccessful stint on the WWE main roster last year when he was called up without Scarlett by his side.

Reigns is set to defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against McIntyre at Clash at the Castle next month. The SmackDown Women’s Championship match for that pay-per-view was confirmed last night, with Shayna Baszler winning a gauntlet match to become the number one contender to Liv Morgan.

Karrion Kross, Scarlett return to WWE on SmackDown

Karrion Kross and Scarlett are back in WWE.

The end of tonight’s SmackDown saw the return of Karrion Kross and Scarlett to the company. As Drew McIntyre was cutting a promo on Roman Reigns ahead of their match at Clash at the Castle in September, the screen went gray, with ominous music playing as Scarlett appeared on the entrance ramp. Kross appeared and attacked McIntyre from behind. Kross stared down Roman as Scarlett put an hourglass in the ring. She turned the hourglass upside down, with the sand falling to the bottom as Kross pointed at Reigns to end the show.

Fightful had reported on Friday that WWE had interest in bringing back Kross, who along with Scarlett was released on November 4 of last year after a short run on the main roster.

As NXT Champion, Kross was called up in July of last year and lost his first match on Raw against Jeff Hardy. He soon started to appear on TV wearing a helmet and suspenders. After being taken off TV, he was released in November along with Scarlett, who despite being called up to the main roster never appeared on TV.

Since being released, Kross has continued to wrestle on the independent scene, making appearances for NJPW Strong, Warrior Wrestling, and MLW. He appeared on Ric Flair’s Last Match this past Sunday, defeating Davey Boy Smith Jr..

Killer Kross set for first post-WWE match at WrestlePro event

The former Karrion Kross’s first post-WWE match has been announced.

Killer Kross will face Flip Gordon at WrestlePro Killer Instinct on Saturday, February 5, 2022 in Rahway, New Jersey.

Kross was part of a WWE mass-release event on Thursday, November 4, just hours after the company announced that they had generated $255.8 million in revenue and $77.9 million in OIBDA in the third quarter of 2021.

Kross is a two-time former WWE NXT Champion, holding the title for a combined 140 days. A four-day run in August 2020 was cut short due to injury, but Kross regained the NXT title from Finn Balor at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver night two on April 8, 2021. Kross lost the NXT title to Samoa Joe at TakeOver 36 on August 22, 2021.

Kross made his main roster WWE debut in a series of dark matches and an appearance on Main Event this past Summer. His television debut on Raw came on the July 19, 2021 episode. While still holding the NXT title, Kross lost to Jeff Hardy in 1:40 on that show.

Kross’s fiance Scarlett Bordeaux was also released on November 4, and was also announced for WrestlePro Killer Instinct. Bordeaux will take on Harley Cameron.

A third match, Matt Cardona vs. Dan Maff, is also set for the event. Tickets for Killer Instinct have yet to go on sale, according to the company’s website.

Three NXT wrestlers work dark matches prior to WWE SmackDown

Three members of the NXT roster appeared in dark matches at tonight’s WWE SmackDown tapings.

Former NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez defeated Toni Storm in a dark match.

Gonzalez dropped the NXT Women’s title to Mandy Rose in a Trick or Street Fight at NXT Halloween Havoc this past Wednesday. Gonzalez had held the Championship since April’s NXT TakeOver Stand and Deliver.

Gonzalez, 30, has been with the company since signing in October 2016. She made her WWE in-ring debut at an NXT house show in January 2017.

The Creed Brothers of NXT’s Diamond Mine also appeared in a dark match, losing to The Viking Raiders.

Brutus Creed and Julius Creed made their in-ring debuts on the September 7 episode of NXT television, a show taped in August. Julius signed with WWE in October 2020, while Brutus signed in February 2021.

Both Creed Brothers have high-level amateur wrestling backgrounds, with Brutus wrestling at Otterbein University and Julius capturing the 2018 ACC heavyweight championship while wrestling at Duke University.

WWE’s Karrion Kross & Scarlett announce engagement

Image: WWE

Karrion Kross (real name Kevin Kesar) and Scarlett (Elizabeth Chihaia) are the latest WWE couple to get engaged.

On Thursday, Kross and Scarlett announced their engagement on social media. Scarlett posted a picture of her engagement ring and wrote “Pop the champagne! #Isaidyes @WWEKarrionKross”

Kross and Scarlett began dating prior to their WWE careers. It was confirmed in November 2019 that Scarlett had signed with WWE, while the signing of Kross was announced in February 2020.

Scarlett managed Kross in NXT but hasn’t been accompanying him since he was called up to the main roster. Kross made his Raw debut this July. He lost the NXT Championship to Samoa Joe at NXT TakeOver 36 last month.

Kross defeated John Morrison on the September 6 episode of Raw. The past two weeks, a Kross promo and video package have aired on Raw. Kross was also in action against Ricochet on this week’s Main Event tapings.

Karrion Kross, Bronson Reed wrestle on WWE Main Event tapings

Both Karrion Kross and Bronson Reed worked matches on WWE Main Event prior to tonight’s episode of Raw.

Kross defeated Shelton Benjamin in a match that Dave Meltzer had reported earlier in the afternoon. Scarlett, the manager of Kross, was not at ringside for the match. In the second Main Event match, Bronson Reed defeated Drew Gulak.

Meltzer noted in today’s Daily Update that Scarlett is being talked about for a tryout of her own on Friday. Reed, Scarlett, and Kross were also at the SmackDown tapings this past Friday.

Both Kross and Reed hold championships in NXT. Kross is the current NXT Champion, successfully defending the title at NXT TakeOver: In Your House in a five-way match. Reed holds the NXT North American title, and with NXT Tag Team champions MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee) successfully defended their titles against Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Jouaqin Wilde, Raul Mendoza) at TakeOver.

New episodes of Main Event are added every Thursday on Peacock.

Kross, Bronson Reed backstage for dark matches at WWE SmackDown

Karrion Kross, Scarlett, and Bronson Reed are all backstage at SmackDown, but are not expected to be used on tonight’s show.

Dave Metlzer has confirmed that all three are backstage tonight, with PWInsider first reporting the names. Both Reed and Kross are working dark matches so that the key powers could see them live and get a first-hand look.

Kross and Reed both hold championships in NXT. Kross is the current NXT Champion, recently defending the title in a five-way match at TakeOver: In Your House last weekend, defeating Kyle O’Reilly, Pete Dunne, Johnny Gargano, and Adam Cole. Kross confronted William Regal on this week’s NXT, but backed off when Samoa Joe was introduced as the new enforcer of the brand.

Bronson Reed is the current NXT North American Champion. He retained the title at TakeOver: In Your House, teaming with NXT Tag Team Champions MSK (Wes Lee and Nash Carter) to defeat Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Raul Mendoza, Jouaqin Wilde) in a match where all titles were on the line.

WWE NXT video highlights: Kross relinquishes NXT Championship

Just days after winning the title, Karrion Kross announced last night that he’s relinquished the NXT Championship due to injury.

Kross opened last night’s NXT after winning the NXT Championship from Keith Lee in the main event of TakeOver XXX. Kross said he was in searing pain due to his separated shoulder, but he loves it and it brings him life. However, Kross is a realist and knows they won’t let him defend the title in this condition. Kross closed his promo by issuing a warning. He said this changes absolutely nothing — doomsday is still coming to NXT.

Kross and Scarlett then left the title belt in the ring with an hourglass.

Later in the night, William Regal announced that a four-way 60-minute Iron Man match on next Tuesday’s NXT will decide the new NXT Champion. Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, Finn Balor, and Adam Cole will be the wrestlers vying for the title.

Ciampa returned to NXT television last night and quickly defeated Jake Atlas. He continued to destroy Atlas after the match.

The NXT Tag Team and Cruiserweight titles were both on the line last night. Plus, the main event saw NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai team with Rhea Ripley against Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez.

Karrion Kross & Scarlett to kick off WWE NXT

An appearance by the new NXT Champion will kick off the post-TakeOver XXX episode of NXT.

WWE has announced that Karrion Kross and Scarlett will open this week’s NXT. Kross defeated Keith Lee in the main event of TakeOver XXX this past Saturday to win the NXT title. Kross suffered a separated shoulder during the match, but he told ESPN that he doesn’t expect to miss significant time due to the injury.

Kross was scheduled to have an MRI done on Monday.

WWE.com wrote about Kross and Scarlett’s appearance ahead of Wednesday’s show:

Doomsday is here.

Despite sustaining a shoulder injury during his match against Keith Lee at NXT TakeOver: XXX, Karrion Kross powered through a grueling bout to win the NXT Championship.

After a medical evaluation Monday, Kross will kick off Wednesday night’s WWE NXT on USA Network. What do the new NXT Champion and Scarlett have in store for NXT, given his injury? One thing is certain, the time has come for the NXT Universe to fall and pray.

Tune in to see Kross and Scarlett on WWE NXT Wednesday at 8/7 C on USA Network

Three matches have also been announced for this week’s NXT. NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar will defend his title against Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Breezango will challenge Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) for the NXT Tag Team titles, and NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai will team with Rhea Ripley against Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez. Tommaso Ciampa will also make his return to television, and we’ll find out what’s next for new NXT North American Champion Damian Priest.

WWE NXT video highlights: Fireball angle, TakeOver qualifier

The NXT Championship match was confirmed for TakeOver XXX last night — but Keith Lee was hit in the face with a fireball in the process.

After Karrion Kross defeated Danny Burch in the opening match of last night’s NXT, Lee came down to the ring with a contract in his hand. Lee said he offered for Kross to earn his title shot, but Kross didn’t want to do that. Lee said he instead pleaded with William Regal and promised that he wouldn’t put his hands on Kross until TakeOver if Regal made the match.

Scarlett took the contract, Kross signed it, and she then slid it back into the ring. When Lee opened the contract, a fireball came out of it and hit him.

Lee was transported to the hospital by ambulance as part of the angle. An update was provided later in the show, with it being said that Lee vowed that Kross would be a dead man at TakeOver.

Last night’s NXT was headlined by a TakeOver qualifying match. Cameron Grimes defeated Kushida and the returning Velveteen Dream, becoming the third wrestler to qualify for the ladder match for the vacant NXT North American Championship at TakeOver.

Bronson Reed, Damian Priest, and Grimes have qualified for the ladder match. The final two wrestlers for it will be confirmed with two second chance qualifying matches on next week’s go-home show for TakeOver. It will be Johnny Gargano vs. Ridge Holland and Finn Balor vs. Velveteen Dream.

WWE NXT video highlights: Scarlett sends a warning to Adam Cole

The first episode of NXT since TakeOver: In Your House ended with Scarlett sending a warning to NXT Champion Adam Cole on behalf of Karrion Kross.

The main event of last night’s show saw Cole defeat Dexter Lumis in a non-title match with help from his Undisputed Era stablemates Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish. Velveteen Dream came out to help Lumis after, and only Cole was left in the ring.

The lights then went out and Scarlett appeared. She placed an hourglass in the ring and turned it over, signifying that time is running out on Cole’s title reign.

In an interview after the show, Cole said he isn’t worried about Kross, Keith Lee, or Finn Balor trying to take his title.

Roderick Strong vs. Dexter Lumis set for NXT, Karrion Kross in action

WWE has announced two additions to the card for this week’s NXT.

Killer Kross and Scarlett are kicking off tonight’s show, with Kross having his second match for NXT. His opponent hasn’t been revealed.

Kross made his NXT in-ring debut by defeating Leon Ruff two weeks ago. He hit two Doomsday Saito suplexes and then submitted Ruff with the Kross Jacket.

Roderick Strong vs. Dexter Lumis has also been announced for tonight’s NXT. Last week, a video call aired where all four members of the Undisputed Era chose Strong to be the one to face Lumis.

Lumis got involved when Strong and Bobby Fish tried to interfere in Cole’s NXT Championship defense against Velveteen Dream two weeks ago. A ref bump took place while Lumis was fighting with Strong and Fish during that match. Dream hit the Purple Rainmaker and got a visual pinfall on Cole, but there was no referee to count the pin.

Dream then woke the referee up and took out Strong and Fish. When Dream got back in the ring, Cole hit a superkick and the Last Shot to retain his title.

Rhea Ripley vs. Io Shirai is also set for tonight’s NXT. Plus, group action in NXT’s interim Cruiserweight Championship tournament will conclude with Kushida (2-0) vs. Drake Maverick (1-1) in a Group A match and Akira Tozawa (2-0) vs. El Hijo del Fantasma (1-1) in Group B.

WWE NXT video highlights: Karrion Kross and Scarlett debut

Complete with a special entrance, Karrion Kross and Scarlett officially arrived on NXT last night.

Kross was accompanied by Scarlett for his NXT in-ring debut. Their entrance was in black and white at the start and had Scarlett lip-syncing the words to Kross’ theme song. Kross faced Leon Ruff, destroying him with two Doomsday Saito suplexes and then submitting him with the Kross Jacket.

Both of NXT’s top titles were also on the line last night. Adam Cole retained his NXT Championship against Velveteen Dream in the main event. Undisputed Era’s Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish attempted to interfere in the match, but they were stopped by Dexter Lumis.

A ref bump took place as Lumis was fighting with Strong and Fish. Dream hit the Purple Rainmaker on Cole and got a visual pinfall, but there was no referee to count it. Dream woke the referee up and then took out Strong and Fish with a double flying ax handle. But when he got back in the ring, Cole hit a superkick, the Last Shot, and pinned Dream to retain his title.

Charlotte Flair’s NXT Women’s Championship defense against Io Shirai ended in a disqualification when Charlotte used a kendo stick. Charlotte also went after Shirai’s leg, but Rhea Ripley returned and attacked Charlotte until Charlotte bailed. This was Ripley’s first appearance since losing the NXT Women’s title to Charlotte at WrestleMania 36.

Shirai then yelled at Ripley, and Ripley responded by telling her to shut up. As Ripley was being interviewed outside of the building after, she was confronted by Shirai and officials had to separate them.
