Jon Moxley’s opponent for upcoming Defy event revealed

Jon Moxley has a date in Portland.

It announced on Monday that the former AEW Champion would be in action in October 24 for Defy’s event at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland, Oregon. He will be taking on Royce Issacs.

The leader of the Death Riders has made a few appearances on the independent scene from time to time. He last wrestled for Defy in 2023, where he defeated Artemis Spencer on July 29. Last year, he wrestled at a Pro Wrestling Revolver event, defeating Gringo Loco in a lucha death match. He also appeared at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport Bushido event in Japan, defeating Barnett.

In AEW, Moxley has been building towards an I Quit match against Darby Allin that will take place at WrestleDream on October 18. After he emerged victorious in a coffin match against Allin at All Out, Allin emerged from the coffin and ended up setting Moxley on fire, indicating that their feud was far from over. Since then, Allin has attempted to go after Moxley in extreme fashion, ending last week’s Dynamite by threatening to throw a moltov cocktail at him.

Tavion Heights vs. Royce Isaacs added to Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XIII

Another member of the No Quarter Catch Crew will be wrestling at Bloodsport.

On Friday, Josh Barnett  posted a video featuring Tavion Heights announcing that he will be taking on Royce Issacs at Bloodsport XIII. Heights questioned if Issacs was ‘man enough’ to fight him.

Earlier in the day, Issacs had posted a video asking Heights if he “had the minerals” to step up to him. After he got his response, Issacs responded on social media.

“Official. I asked for it. I got it. Nothing left but to win the damn thing,” he wrote.

Charlie Dempsey, who was also seen in the video, has already been announced as facing former Pride fighter Shinya Aoki. Earlier in the day, it was announced that Shayna Baszler would be facing Konami.

World Class Wrecking Crew win NJPW Strong Tag titles at Strong Style Evolved

World Class Wrecking Crew are now champions.

Jorel Nelson & Royce Issacs defeated the Grizzled Young Veterans at Strong Style Evolved on Sunday to win the titles for the first time. The finish came when Issacs rolled up James Drake while Issacs had Zack Gibson tied up on the outside.

After the match, Rocky Romero came out and officially challenged them to a title match at Battle in the Valley on January 11 in San Jose, saying former Roppongi 3K member YOH would be teaming with him. Nelson & Issacs responded by attacking Romero, with Issacs laying him out with a German Suplex.

The Grizzled Young Veterans only held the titles for a little over a month, defeating TMDK to win the titles for the first time at Fighting Spirit Unleashed.

Two other title matches took place at Strong Style Evolved. Gabe Kidd successfully defended the Strong Openweight title against Ryohei Oiwa. Mercedes Mone will defend the Strong Women’s Championship against Hazuki in the main event.

Charlie Dempsey vs. Royce Issacs set for Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XI

Charlie Dempsey now has an opponent for Bloodsport.

Josh Barnett announced on X that Dempsey will face Royce Issacs next weekend in Brooklyn. He wrote:

Two mat grapplers set to lock up and go hold for hold, submission to submission, catch to catch.

Dempsey proved he belonged in Bloodsport in his last outing, capturing victory in a hard fought match with Matt Makowski.

Isaacs has been a staple of Bloodsport and was trading hold for hold with submission wizard Minoru Suzuki last time.

Both are on the rise and both want a souvenir to hang on the wall – a limb taken from a defeated opponent.

Dempsey is one of four WWE stars that will compete on the card, with Shayna Baszler and The Creed Brothers have all having been previously announced. Issacs has previously worked in New Japan Strong as part of the West Coast Wrecking Crew with Jorel Nelson. Both were previously members of Team Filthy with Tom Lawlor, who is also on the Bloodsport card.

Here’s the current card:

  • Mike Santana vs. Homicide
  • Julius Creed vs. Matt Makowski
  • Shayna Baszler vs. Miyu Yamashita
  • Mike Bailey vs. Akira
  • Masha Slamovich vs. Jody Threat
  • Timothy Thatcher vs. Josh Woods
  • Brutus Creed vs. Tom Lawlor
  • Charlie Dempsey vs. Royce Issacs

NWA Tag titles change hands prior to ROH Global Wars Espectacular

Royce Issacs and Thomas Latimer are the new NWA World Tag Team champions.

They won the titles in a dark match prior to ROH’s Global Wars Espectacular card which took place tonight in Chicago. Issacs and Latimer won the titles after Kamille, who seconds NWA World Heavyweight champion Nick Aldis, came out to distract champions Brody King and PCO which led to the finish.

Latimer and Issacs formed a tag team during April’s Crockett Cup event after winning a battle royal that put them in thetournament. They reached the finals only to lose to PCO and Brody King, who not only won the Crockett Cup tournament but also the vacant NWA Tag Team titles. PCO and King held the titles for 134 days.

The title change comes following the end of the relationship between NWA and ROH. The NWA are set to start their own television, with the first set of tapings taking place on September 30 and October 1.
