Days after she successfully defended her ROH Women’s World title and on the doorstep of her 1000th day as champion, Athena will return to action on tonight’s ROH on HonorClub.

In a non-title match, she will face Dayami in a bout taped nearly a month ago. She defeated Mina Shirakawa at last Friday’s Death Before Dishonor.

Hologram & Tomohiro Ishii will team up against to battle Tony Nese & Arya Daivari of the Premier Athletes.

AEW Trios Champion Katsuyori Shibata will take on GCW’s Jordan Oliver in search of his first promotional win.

Wheeler Yuta will challenge John Silver in a match of longtime Northeast wrestlers.

The card is rounded out by the Spanish Announce Project, Lance Archer, and Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson) in action against opponents to be announced.

Matches tonight range in location from Cincinnati, Cleveland and Chicago.

It will be the first of two ROH shows in two days.

Death Before Dishonor is in the rear view, but Ring of Honor Action continues!

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena vs Dayami

The show wasted no time in kicking right into this Proving Ground match According to internet sources, today is in fact, Athena’s 1000th day as Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion. According to Ian Riccaboni, it’s 999. Either one is pretty impressive though!

Dayami didn’t have much of a chance at the start. Athena went at her hard right off the bell, sending her to the outside. There, Athena caught a kick and slammed Dayami into onto the ring apron. Dayami crawled back into the ring and Athena put on the Koji Clutch. Dayami passed right out and that was it!

Match Result: Athena defeated Dayami

Kind of a strange way to start the show with no card rundown, no build up, no entrances and about :45 seconds worth of wrestling. But, it’s Athena, so all is forgiven.

Blake Christian & Lee Johnson vs Joe Alonzo & Thomas Hein

Christian and Johnson have been calling themselves “The Swirl” despite my objections, so that’s something that’s happening.

Johnson started off against Alonzo who had multiple pictures of his own face on his tights. That didn’t help him though as Christian took out HInes and the two double teamed Alonzo with some speedy kicks and dueling slams.

Christian tagged in and ate a turnbuckle as Alonzo ducked a splash. That brought in Hein who was picked up by Johnson and thrown at Christian who hit him with a drop kick. They then set him up for a spicolli driver and that was it.

Match Result: Blake Christian & Lee Johnson defeated Joe Alonzo & Thomas Hein

Wheeler Yuta (w/Marina Shafir) vs John Silver

Silver gets a rare singles match here against the Death Rider’s worst haircut. Silver is a literal fire hydrant of a human. He reminds me of a much more personable Taz. Yuta still can’t find a barber, which may hinder him in this bout.

Silver’s strength served him well as he got the drop on Yuta off the top. Yuta got back into it though coming back at Silver with some chops. Silvers chops back put Yuta on his heels and the following kicks put him on his back.

Silver then punted Yuta and picked him up and dropped him in a powerbomb. Yuta was completely off his game here as Silver sent him to the outside and bounced him off the barricades. Shafir watched disapprovingly. At least I think she did. She doesn’t have a lot of facial range.

Back in the ring, Silver kept up the pressure until Yuta hung him up on the ropes. Silver fell back out of the ring and Shafir hit him with a Judo throw. That brought out Evil Uno and Alex Reynolds. The Ref separated them and the action moved back into the ring.

Yuta began a comeback, throwing knees into Silver’s back and working a headlock. He hung Silver up on the ropes, but took too long to capitalize and Silver met him with a superkick. The two began brawling, trading kicks for punches with Silver getting the upper forearm.

Silver hit a big DDT, but Yuta kicked out at two. Shafir began getting annoyed at ringside and suddenly, Jon Moxley appeared. He joined Shafir at ringside while Yuta locked in a half-crab on Silver’s previously injured knee.

Silver turned the tables into a straight jacket crossface and that brought Shafir up on the apron. Reynolds pulled her down and Uno got in Moxley’s face. Mox tried to tear Uno’s mask off, but Silver dropkicked him to get him to stop. That opened up Silver for a Buseko knee fro Yuta who pinned him to get the victory

Match Result: Wheeler Yuta (w/Marina Shafir) defeated John Silver

That was a good match, I really like Silver. I was surprised to see Moxley get involved, I figured he had better things to do.

Lance Archer (w/ Rocky Romero) vs Marcus and Adam King

Tonight’s Lance Archer Murderfest featured not one, but two opponents that had absolutely no chance of winning. I won’t bore you with the details, but it ended with Archer hitting a Blackout using one of the King’s as a weapon.

Match Result: Lance Archer defeated Marcus and Adam King

After the martch, Archer continued the beatdown until security arrived. They both ate a chokeslam and then a recap of the Tag Team Championship match from Death Before Dishonor aired.

Honestly, I pre-wrote that recap and then just added in the names. That’s how predictable the “Lance Archer Kills The ROH Universe” thing has become.

Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) vs Philly Collins and Marino Tenaglia

Yes, you read that right.

Angelico and Tenaglia kicked things off, with Angelico’s agility offsetting the brawn of Tenaglia. Serpentico got involved and after a quick double team, Serpentico became legal and ran circles around Tenaglia. Tenaglia felt it coming in the air tonight and tagged in Phil Collins, isolating Serpentico.

Collins danced into the light of a big side slam on Serpentico before Tenaglia decided that they shouldn’t live separate lives and tagged back in. He tweaked the neck of Serpentico, before tagging Collins back in, no jacket required.

Collins and Tenaglia tried for a double team, but Serpentico hit a double DDT to buy some time to get the hot tag to Angelico. Angelico showed Collins and Tenaglia a groovy kind of love with a clothesline, sending Collins out of the ring.

At this point, Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman started adding Phil Collins puns of their own which was a very surreal thing for me. Just another day in paradise.

Any way, back in the ring, Angelico locked in a grapevine ankle lock on Tenaglia, who tapped out giving SAP the win.

Match Result: Spanish Announce Project defeated Philly Collins and Marino Tenaglia

You know, given Phil Collins’ extensive catalouge of smooth, soft-rock hits, a match against the laid-back SAP makes perfect sense.

Katsuyori Shibata vs Jordan Oliver

I misread the headline and was very disappointed when a small angry British man in glasses didn’t come to the ring to face Shibata.

At any rate though, these guys both have some great technical backgrounds that they put on display right off the top. Shibata put Oliver in a wristlock and stomped his twisted arm repeatedly. Oliver got away, but was lured back into a lock up that ended with him on the receiving end of a headlock.

Shibata had control from there, hitting Oliver with smacks and chops in between working the arm with various submission holds. Oliver found a second wind though and hit a dropkick that sent Shibata into the corner. Oliver followed that up with a side kick.

Shibata managed to wrangle an ankle lock on Oliver, but Oliver made it to the ropes to break the hold. Shibata sent him to the corner and hit a dropkick that knocked Olver loopy. Shibata tried a sleeper, which dazed Oliver enough for Shibata to kick him in the face and pick up the victory.

Match Result: Katsuyori Shibata defeated Jordan Oliver

The Conglomeration (Hologram & Tomohiro Ishii) vst The Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari & Tony Nese)

Before the match, footage was shown from Collision that teased (are you ready for this?) that a CLONE of Hologram may be imminent in AEW/ROH.

Do it, you cowards.

Anyway, the Athletes came down to the ring with Mark Sterling and their usual attempts to get the crowd to say that they ruled instead of sucked. Hologram came down to the ring with his usual Tomohiro Ishii.

Hologram and Nese kicked things off with Nese getting a headlock off the top. Hologram reversed it into a leg lock and the two went back and forth exchanging holds until Nese got an elbow in Hologram’s face in the corner.

Nese got cocky though and Hologram made him pay with a hurricanrana into an Armbar. Ishii tagged in and Daivari followed suit. Ishii no-sold a bunch of chops and punches and Daivari was forced to resort to trying to rake the eyes. Ishii got mad at that and he and Hologram double teamed Daivari for a bit.

Hologram sent Nese to the outside and tried for a dive, but Nese grabbed his ankle and dropped him on the mat. Daivari, the legal man gave Sterling a chance to choke Hologram with the ropes. Daivari sent Hologram into the corner where he and Nese tagged in and out. Nese ended up legal and hit a huge legdrop through the ropes.

Hologram started to come back, but Nese put a stop to hit with a headlock. Nese dragged Hologram back to his corner and tagged in Daivari. Hologram finally got the hot tag to Ishii who did a great Miley Cyrus impression and entered like a wrecking ball.

Ishii hit a suplex on Nese that got a two count. Nese and Daivari set him up for a double team but Ishii put them both down with a double clothesline and tagged hin Hologram. Hologram went up top, but Sterling caused a distraction, allowing Daivari to knock him off the ringpost.

Daivari then hit a Magic Carpet Ride on Hologram, using an actual carpet (I kid you not). Hologram got the tag to Ishii who cleaned house and knocked Sterling off the apron. That allowed Hologram to hit a 450 on Daivari and pick up the win.

Match Result: The Conglomeration defeated The Premier Athletes

After the match, Nese and Daivari screamed at the camera over Sterling being pushed off the apron. They are sick and tired of seeing their manager get taken out. Sterling claimed to have a torn bicep and for him, that means he can no longer live a normal life. Sterling then said that they need a contingency plan and the show faded out.

**********

This is it, friends! Death Before Dishonor 2025 is knocking on our collective wrestling-watching door, but first; ZERO HOUR!

Jay Lethal vs. Jordan Oliver

As is the ROH way, about a dozen matches for tonight were added to the card about an hour ago, including this one! Lethal is pretty synonymous with ROH, so this makes sense. Oliver is also there.

Lethal had Oliver from the jump, sending him around the ring and bouncing him off the ropes before pausing for his signature strut. That gave Oliver a chance to knock him down and mock him with the very same strut.

Oliver got in a flurry of offense here and there, but Lethal was in control for the lion’s share of this match. Oliver had a good outing, at one point blocking three suplexes in short succession. Lethal was having fun playing his greatest hits and Oliver almost got him a couple of times having scouted the Lethal Injection and the big elbow.

In the end though, Lethal was able to reverse a dragon screw into a figure four and Oliver was forced to tap out.

Match Result: Jay Lethal defeated Jordan Oliver

-Lexy Nair caught up with the Sons of Texas outside the event. Ross Von Erich paid tribute to the injured Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara said that they were going to win. Marshall agreed. Lexy asked Guevara who who be his partner in the Tag Team Titles match and Guevara teased… Chris Jericho? How intriguing…

MxMxTV (Mansoor and Madden) w/ Johnny TV and Taya Valkyrie vs The Dark Order (John Silver and Alex Reynolds) w/ Evil Uno vs The Frat House (Griff Garrison and Cole Karter) w/ Jackked Jameson

So MxMxTV are doing this really gross thing that only they seem to find funny, which is promoting a fragrance called SEED. it’s gross. The Frat House came out sans-Preston Vance, but with a half-dozen pledges. The Dark Order came out with cool jackets as usual, but not matching this time. I wonder how that will factor…

This tag-team three way kicked off with Reynolds and Garrison, with Silver quickly jumping in for a Dark Order double team. Karter hit a blind tag to reverse the double team, but when they posed, MxM jumped in to one-up their poses.

Everyone ran outside the ring for some reason and John Silver took out all the pledges. When he got back in the ring though, he faced the much bigger Mansoor. The Order and MxM had a trios match on ROH on Honorclub last night, so this was something of a replay of that until everyone started brawling.

On the outside, Mansoor grabbed the Frat House’s intiation paddle and spanked Jameson with it, in between makeout sessions between TV and Valkyrie. In the ring, Reynolds and Karter held down the fort, wrestling wise.

This match was undeniably chaotic. There were simply too many people at ringside and so much was happening that it was hard to follow. Everyone was spamming finishers, which was exciting in that it kept the audience guessing about the outcome, but it was exhausting to watch.

In the end, The Order had Mansoor pinned, but the ref didn’t see it. TV Sprayed some SEED (blech) into Reynolds’ face (double blech) allowing Mansoor to reverse the pin and get the win for MxMxTV.

Match Result: MxMxTV defeated The Frat House and The Dark Order

-Backstage, Lexy Nair congratulated Jay Lethal on his win earlier. They were interrupted by Blake Christian and Lee Johnson who reminded Lethal that Christian beat him at Supercard of Honor. That made Lethal sad.

-QT Marshall was shown arriving at the arena with Aaron Solo. He ran down Paul Walter Hauser, who apparently was arriving at the same time on the other side of the parking garage. Hauser said that he was angry and he was going to take it out on Marshall.

Pure Rules Match: Ashley Vox vs Billie Starkz

So this Pure Rules match is NOT part of the long-gestating Women’s Pure Championship Tournament, but it does give us a chance to watch Billie Starkz work, so I’ll allow it.

I’ll get the Pure Rules schtick out of the way here:

Each wrestler gets three rope breaks. After that, pin or submission under the ropes is legal. There is one warning for a closed fist, with the second instance causing a DQ. Outside interference is also a DQ. If there is no clear winner as time expires, a panel of judges will award the win. The judeges tonight are Jerry Lynn, Christopher Daniels and Dean Malenko.

Starkz was forced to use her first rope break at 7:42 as she and Vox tussled. Starkz stomped Vox in the corner and hit a really gnarly knee to her face. Vox kept up with Starkz though until Starkz hit a satellite DDT and went up for a swan dive. Vox slid out of the way and hit a rolling headscissor.

Vox fishooked Starkz, forcing her to use her second rope break. That pissed Starkz off and goaded her into using her one closed fist. at 4:15. Starkz then hit a massive Last Shot backbreaker and got the pin on Vox.

Match Result: Billie Starkz defeated Ashley Vox

$50.000 Four-way match: Adam Priest vs. Angélico (w/Serpentico) vs. AR Fox vs. Dralístico

Tony Khan has too much money! There was a $50k four-way before Supercard of Honor (won by AR Fox), there was a $100k match on Collision a couple of weeks ago and now AR Fox has a chance to add a second $50K purse to his earnings. All I’m saying is that no one even asked me to be in any of those matches and that stings a little.

Angelico came out with a sweet new bucket hat, so I’m thinking that he’s the favourite to win this. He’s got hat bills to pay, after all.

Dralistico and Priest rolled out of the ring for some reason to kick things off and Angelico and Fox dove out after them. Angelico and Fox then wrestled in the ring while the other two watched. Angelico had Fox in a submission, but Dralistico broke it up.

Priest then started in on Angelico who hit a bridged figure four, again broken up by Dralistico. He and Priest took turns delivering chops to Angelico in the corner. Fox hit a springboard onto Dralistico and Priest, taking them both out.

Fox then took on Dralistico and Priest two-on one and managed to keep them both off their feet. He also kept himself off his feet by diving through the ropes onto them. Next he hit a cutter on Angelico and tossed him into the ring.

Fox walked the barricade a dropped a big leg onto Angelico on the ring apron (the foxiest part of the ring!). Dralistico got involved, holding Fox so Priest to rip his leg out form underneath him. Priest hit a superplex off the second rope on Fox, but couldn’t get a pin.

Dralistico hit a big swanton on Priest but he also couldn’t get a pin. Fox stepped up to Dralistico, trading chops and slaps with him. Dralistico then hit a spingboard destroyer, but Angelico broke up the pin attempt. Dralistico went up top for a big codebreaker and got the pin on Angelico to pick up the win and the cash.

Match Result: Dralistico defeated Adam Priest, Angélico and AR Fox

And now… DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR!

The Conglomeration (Hologram and Tomohiro Ishii) vs. Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari and Tony Nese) (with “Smart” Mark Sterling)

There is no reason for this match to exist other than I’m really looking forward to seeing Ishii throw Nese and Daivari around like sotballs in a slow pitch tournament. So to that, I say, Athletes Suck!

Daivari and Ishii kicked things off with Ishii stonewalling Daivari’s attempts to get him off his feet. Daivari slapped Ishii’s bald head, which made him angry. Like Meng-level angry. From there he no-sold a dozen chops and chopped Daivari across the ring. Daivari reached for a tag, but Nese refused, not wanting to take on Ishii.

Nese finally entered the match to face off against Hologram, sending him into the corner. Nese hit a double dropkick, but Hologram went up top. Nese moved and the two hit dueling crossbodies. Sterling got up on the apron to cause a distraction, allowing Daivari to hit a Carpet Ride on Hologram for a two count.

Hologram found himself cut off in the Athletes corner while Daivari and Nese tagged in and out, applying various holds to him. Hologram got a pin on Nese, but the ref was distracted talking about the weather with Ishii and missed it. That allowed Daivari to rain down more punishment with the help of Sterling.

The double teams continued, with Ishii powerless to stop it. Hologram finally made the hot tag to Ishii who leapt in and cleared house, taking our Daivari and Nese. Ishii began chopping and punching Nese in the corner before hitting a side slam.

Hologram jumped in to help his partner and the two hit stereo suplexes on the Athletes. Ishii lifted Nese for a brainbuster, but Nese kicked out at two. Nese hit a spinning heel kick that knocked Ishii off his feet for the first time. Hologram hit a big springboard to give him a chance to recover.

Nese grabbed Hologram for a piledriver, but Hologram kicked out. Hologram dodged an attack by Daivari who hit Sterling by mistake. Hologram dove out of the ring repeatedly taking out Athletes left and right.

Ishii got Nese up for a spiked brainbuster and that was it, Ishii and Hologram win.

Match Result: The Conglomeration defeated The Premier Athletes

ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championship Match: The Sons of Texas (Marshall Von Erich, Ross Von Erich, and Sammy Guevara) vs. Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Carlie Bravo, and Capt. Shawn Dean)

YES! As much as I love the Sons of Texas, I cam even more excited to see STP finally get a chance at some championship belts. The titles were technically vacated last night on ROH on Honorclub, so no matter who wins, they will be the “new” champions.

Bravo started the match against Guevara, with Guevara taking a shot at Dean on the apron. Bravo avenged his partner and isolated Guevara in the STP corner at the same time. Guevara slipped out though, delivering a backflip dropkick to Bravo.

Guevara tagged in Ross who bounced Bravo’s skull off the turnbuckle before delivering one hell of a kick in the corner. Bravo tried to leap away but was met by another dropkick. Ross shot Bravo off the ropes for Marshall to hit a slam on him, but only got a two count.

Trish Adora distracted the ref, while Dean pulled Ross out of the ring for Taylor and Bravo to beat on him. Bravo set up Ross in the STP corner for a rapid fire assault from all three members of STP. Taylor ended up legal, headbutting Ross, drawing the ire of Marshall.

Dean tagged in and landed a bronco buster on Ross in the corner (dubbed a “BBC” Bronco Buster from Captain). Tayle tagged back in and Ross hit him in the stomach. Taylor kneed him in the jaw for his trouble. Dean slammed Ross, then took a moment to punch Marshall so he didn’t feel left out.

Ross finally got the hot tag to his brother and Marshall jumped in to start clearing the ring. Marshall took out Dean and Bravo and even got Taylor with a scoop slam. Marshall went up top and hit a moonsault on Taylor, but only got a two count.

Marshall then tried the Claw on Taylor, but Dean broke it up. Taylor hit a splash on Marshall and then Dean hit a big frog splash, but Ross broke up the pin. Taylor threw Ross out of the ring and into the steel steps. In the ring, Marshall and Dean, the legal men, traded blows.

Marshall walked into a big knee from Dean, but responded with a discus clothesline. Marshall got a tag to Guevara, who kicked Dean in theback of the head before hitting springboard cutter. Guevara flipped over the top rope in an attempt to get Dean, but hit Marshall instead.

Bravo was the legal man and Taylor punched Guevara in the face so the infantry could double stomp him. That was it and STP won the match to become the new Six Man World Tag Team Champions!

Match Result: Shane Taylor Promotions defeated The Sons of Texas

ROH Women’s Pure Championship Tournament Quarterfinal Match: Taya Valkyrie vs. Queen Aminata

To quote Brooklyn 99’s Terry Crews: Oh damn! ROH remembered they had that Women’s Pure belt made! This tournament was set to be finalized at Supercard of Honor, but injury, call ups to Dynamite and Collision and just pure bad luck stalled it somewhat. I’m very excited that it’s back on the docket though!

See the Zero Hour match between Ashley Vox and Billie Starkz for the lowdown on the Pure Rules division. Aminata forced Valkyrie to us her first rope break at 9:45. That’s 15 seconds into the match. She then shoved Valkyrie into the ropes, causing her to use her second rope break at 9:00 even.

Aminata controlled things from there, using her unique cache of butt-based offense to put Valkyrie on the mat. She then whipped her into the corner, but Valkyrie moved and delivered a kick to the head, followed by a german suplex. Valkyrie worked Aminata’s knee around the ringpost next.

Valkyrie dropped a leg on Aminata’s throat on the ring apron (the throatiest part of the ring!) and began mocking her. Aminata can back swinging, but Valkyrie hit a sit-out powerbomb as the clock passed 6 minutes.

Valkyrie tried to get Animata up in a surfboard, but modified it into a chicken wing, forcing Aminata to use her first rope break at 4:19. The two traded punches until Aminata slapped Valkyrie’s chest, setting her up for another and another.

Aminata hit a snapmare and mid-match, they changed the time limit from 10 minuted to 60 minutes. In the match, Valkyrie was forced to use her last rope break. Valkyrie tried to get Aminata up, but she reversed it into an Armbar. Valkyrie went for the ropes, but she had no breaks left.

Animata head butted Valkyrie out of nowhere and got the pin to advance in the tournament.

Match Result: Taya Valkyrie vs. Queen Aminata

After the match, Deonna Purazzo (who’s facing Trish Adora in the tournament) came down to the ring to stare down Aminata. Aminata offered her hand, but Purazzo shrugged it off.

-Backstage, Lexy Nair reminded everyone that Sammy Guevara has yet to pick his partner for the Tag Team Title Match later in the show.

Blake Christian and Lee Johnson vs. The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett)

Taven and Bennett have been leaning towards the light recently, which makes them a good foil for the dastardly Christian and Johnson. Also, Johnson and Christian have decided to us “The Swirl” as a team name, which in no way invokes the image of a toilet flushing in my mind.

The match started with a standard brawl and when the dust settled, Taven and Johnson were legal in the ring. Bennett tagged in a peppered Johnson with chops in the corner. Christian tried to intervene, but Bennett gave him the same treatment.

Bennett went for an elbow, but Christian pulled Johnson out of the way. On the outside, Johnson hung Bennett up on the barricade and Christian hit a big splash onto him from the ring apron (the splashiest part of the ring!) Then, Jay Lethal was shown watching the match in the back at the odd angle that all wrestlers watch tv.

Back in the ring, Johnson and Christian had Bennett isolated and we tagging in and out to beat him senseless. Bennett kicked off Christian and got a tag to Taven who ducked a clothesline and hit a back body drop on Johnson. He then tried a springboard, but Christian rolled away.

Bennett tagged back in and so did Johnson. They worked through a series of pinning combinations, but neither man got a three count. Christian jumped on Taven’s back and Johnson did the same on Bennett, trying to get sleepers. The Kingdom hit stereo proton packs though.

Taven and Johnson were legal and Johnson got Taven up on his shoulders and hit a spicolli driver, followed by a splash by Christian. Taven tried a quick rollup, but Christian locked in Vanilla Choke Zeo. Across the ring, Johnson held Bennett, but Bennett reversed it into a death valley driver onto Christian before Taven could tap.

Jay Lethal was shown in the back, approving.

Christian got caught by Bennett in a spicolli driver and Taven hit Just the Tip, but Christian rolled out before it could be pinned. The Swirl (ew) hit a spicolli driver/stomp combo on Bennett on the outside before facing Taven.

Taven spammed superkicks, but Chriswtian hit a low blow behind the ref’s back. One more Spicolli/Stomp combo and that was it as Christian pinned Taven for the win.

Jay Lethal was shown in the back, disapproving.

Match Result: Blake Christian and Lee Johnson defeated The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett)

ROH Pure Rules Championship Match: Lee Moriarty (c) vs. Xelhua

At Supercard of Honor, Moriarty successfully defended his Pure Title against the legendary Blue Panther. Fun Fact: if you add the ages of Moriarty (30) and Xelhua (21) together, they are still over a decade younger than Blue Panther (64).

The match started with a 60 minute countdown on the timer, so that’s what we’re going with now. Moriarty and Xelhua locked up, trying to force each other to use up a rope break. It didn’t work for either man though and they reset.

Xelhua put on a surfboard cloverleaf next, forcing Moriarty to use a rope break at 58:45. Moriarty started throwing open hands at Xelhua’s chest, but the luchadore reversed it into a leg lock submission in the center of the ring. Moriarty threw him off though with an armdrag.

Moriarty started working the hands of XelHua, but that just gave him a chance to tie Moriarty in knots. The ref issued Xelhua a warning for a closed fist and Moriarty used the opportunity to hit a codebreaker. Then he danced. No, really.

Moriarty whiffed on a big elbow and Xelhua hit a tilt-o-whirl backbreaker. Moriarty lured Xelhua intot he corner and drove his skull into the turnbuckle. He then hit a dropkick but only got a two count. Moriarty went back to working the hand of Xelhua, splitting his fingers.

Moriarty then tied him up in a grapevine, forcing Xelhua to use a rope break at 53:20. Moriarty then hit a high stomp on Xelhua’s hand. Moriarty split the finger again, twisting and slamming Xelhua’s hand on the mat, trying to take away the luchadore’s grabbing ability.

Xelhua blocked a suplex, but Moriarty dropkicked him to the outside and dove after him, driving him into the barricade. it was so nice, Moriarty did it again. And again. But on the third, Xelhua caught him and put Moriarty in a straightjacket on the outside.

They went back into the ring to break the count and Moriarty wrenched Xelhua’s arm on the ropes. He then got a Border City Stretch on, forcing Xelhua to use a rope break at 49:17. Xelhua responded with a stalling suplex, leaving both men on their backs.

Xelhua got to his feet first and peppered Moriarty with chops. Xelhua went up top next and hit a crossbody from the top turnbuckle. Xelhua put a hammerlock submission on Moriarty, but Moriarty got his foot on the ropes, using his second rope break at 46:33.

Moriarty went back to working Xelhua’s arm and hand before hitting a flapjack for a two count. Moriarty planted Xelhua and went for a cover, but Xelhua got his foot on the ropes, using his final rope break at 45:20.

Moriarty took advantage and locked in a Border City Stretch. Xelhua rolled it into a pin attempt and then hit at tailbone slam for a two-count. Moriarty put on a Octopus stretch, followed by a Border City Stretch through the ropes. Xelhua had no rope breaks left, so he was forced to tap out.

Match Result: Lee Moriarty defeated Xelhua

After the match, respect was shown by both men and STP came down the ramp to celebrate their wins together.

Fight Without Honor: Paul Walter Hauser vs. Q. T. Marshall

I haven’t seen Naked Gun yet, but I hear that one participant in this match is in it. So, good for whoever that is. Anyway, Marshall threw a drink in Hauser’s face 6 months ago. Hauser is famously sober, so now they are going to have a fight about it.

Marshall claimes Hauser “isn’t a real wrestler” but Hauser certainly looks the part. As the match started, they locked up, which was odd for a Fight Without Honor. Marshall’s strategy seemed to be to out-wrestle Hauser, putting on a headlock. Hauser was able to reverse it for a scoop slam, to Masrhall’s surprise.

Hauser hit an atomic drop and side russian leg sweep, causing Marshall to scramble from the ring. Hauser hit a cannonball from the ring apron (the most Golden Globe winning part of the ring!). Hauser then went underneath and pulled out a table.

Marshall threw a chair at Hauser, but he ducked it and shoved the table into Marshall’s gut. He then tried to suplex Marshall through the table, but Marshall reversed it. Hauser then reversed that an suplexed Marshall on the floor before sending him back into the ring.

Hauser went underneath the ring again and pulled out a ladder. Before he could put it in the ring, Marshall sent it into his face with a baseball slide. Marshall set the Ladder up in the corner and Hauser climbed into the ring and started punching, using the moment to pay tribute to Dustin Rhodes.

Marshall picked up Hauser and threw him onto the ladder. Marshall adjusted the ladder on the ropes and hit Hauser’s face off of it. Marshall went under the ring while Hauser bled in the corner. Marshall found a box that contained a barbed wire wrapped baseball bat and chair.

Marshall went with the bat and raked it over the forehead of Hauser after hitting him in the back. Marshall went with the chair next, but Hauser ducked it and sent Marshall into the corner. He then hit him with the chair across his exposed back.

Hauser put Marshall up on hisd shoulders and Aaron Solo arrived with a Kendo Stick to help Marshall. He beat Hauser with it mercilessly will Marshall recovered. Solo and Marshall brought two tables into the ring. Solo hit Hauser with the ladder while Marshall grabbed a third table.

Hauser wailed as Solo hit him with the chair again and again. Marshall got another box, this one draped with a black curtain. Before he could open it though, Hauser thew Marshall out of the ring. Solo went to handcuff Hauser, but who should appear but HOOK!

Hook put Solo through a table and dragged him out of the ring and to the back in a choke hold. Marshall raked Hauser’s eyes and then tried to pile drive him on the ring apron (the most Emmy winning part of the ring!) Hauser reversed it though into a plunge slam through the table!

Hauser threw Marshall back in the ring and grabbed a chair. He smashed it over the head of Marshall and set it up in the ring. He picked up Marshall and hit a sit down piledriver on the chair for a two count. Hauser then produced his Golden Globe award and smashed it into Marshall’s face.

Hauser dragged the cloth covered box into the middle of the ring and revealed that it was full of broken glass. Hauser tried to drive Marshall’s face into it, but Marshall tried to hit a diamond cutter into it. Hauser moved and Marshall landed on the glass. Hauser then hoisted him up and slammed him on the glass again. Somehow, Marshall kicked out at two though.

Hauser then produced a bag of thumbtacks, spreading them around the ring. Marshall hit a superkick though and then powerbombed Hauser on the tacks.

Marshall grabbed a table next and set it up in the ring. He then covered it in broken glass. Marshall grabbed a mic and told the crowd to shut up. He then jawed at Hauser, dragging him to his feet. Hauser hit a low blow on the way up and rolled Marshall up on the tacks for a two count.

Hauser hit a double axe handle and climbed to the top turnbuckle. Marshall woke up and punched him right in the golden globes. Marshall hit a diamond cutter from the top rope through the glass covered table and pinned Hauser, 1-2-3.

Match Result: Q. T. Marshall defeated Paul Walter Hauser

After the match, Hauser got a nod of respect form Marshall and a standing ovation from the crowd. He really did give it everything.

ROH World Tag Team Championship Match: Sammy Guevara and TBA (c) vs. The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum)

During Zero Hour, Guevara said that he didn’t want to “break the walls down” and spoil who his mystery partner is for this match. With that tease in play, his partner turned out to be…

Not Ross Von Erich… Not Marshall Von Erich…

But… RUSH!

(shut up, it makes sense. kinda)

The match started with much speculation as to Guevara’s status with LFI, but all that mattered was the ROH Tag Titles and Rush and Guevara were on the same page when it comes to that. Guevara started things off against Magnum, relying on his cockiness to cover for the fact he’d already wrestled one match tonight.

Magnum got an armdrag followed by a dropkick on Guevara who moved to his corner and tagged in Rush. Magnum tagged in Floyd and the two mighty men began slapping the meat, as it were. Rush pie-faced Floyd in the corner and chopped him across th ring. Floyd stood up to him though and a shoving match ensued.

Magnum grabbed a tag and the Outrunners double teamed Rush. Guevara complained to the camera about the crowd in Philly before accepting a tag from Rush to double dropkick Magnum. Magnum tried a quick rollup, but Guevara sent him face-first into the bottom rope.

Rush dragged Magnum out of the ring and sent him into the steel steps. Guevara followed and sent him into the barricade. Rush threw a beer in Magnum’s face and Guevara slid him back into the ring, cutting him off before he was able to make a tag to Floyd.

Guevara chopped him in the corner before tagging in Rush to do the same. The two traded off stomps and chops on Magnum in the corner, pausing only to Pose in the center of the ring. This was full pre-kid Guevara at his best.

Magnum almost got a tag to Floyd, but Guevara got him in a sleeper before he could get there. Magnum turned it into a back suplex and finally got the tag to Floyd as Guevara got a tag to Rush. Floyd cleared the ring though, slamming Magnum onto Rush.

The Outrunners tried to hit their double elbow, but Guevara interrupted it. They tried to irish whip the Outrunners into each other, but Floyd and Magnum reversed it and clotheslined Rush and Guevara. The hit their double elbow on Rush, but Guevara interrupted Total Recall.

The Outrunners responded by hitting Total Recall on Guevara but he wasn’t legal. All four started to brawl, with the Outrunners taking out Guevara. Magnum went up top but Guevara pushed him off the turnbuckle. Floyd got clocked by Rush who landed the Bulls Horns.

Rush tagged in Guevara who went up top for a shooting star press and covered Floyd to get the victory. Sammy Guevara and Rush are your new ROH World Tag Team Champions!

Match Result: Sammy Guevara and Rush defeated The Outrunners

After the match, Dralistico came down to celebrate with Rush and Guevara. So did the Von Erichs. Guevara tried to make peace between everyone, but then superkicked Marshall while Rush slammed Ross with a title belt, Guevara’s status with LFI now brazenly clear.

-Backstage, Lexy Nair interviewed the Outrunners about their loss. Before they could answer a question though, a celebrating STP came by and made fun of them.

ROH World Championship Match: Bandido (c) vs. Hechicero

The last two Bandido title defenses have been no-brainer contenders for Match of the Year. With Hechicero in the opposite corner tonight, I’m pretty confident he’s going to hit the trifecta. Don Callis, bad Spanish and all, came down to introduce Hechicero. Bandido entered wearing an era-clashing suit of armor and six-guns on his hips, which made me wonder if more wrestlers came to the ring strapped would there be fewer title changes?

“Everything that Hechicero is, he looks like.” -Caprice Coleman.

The match started with an attempted lock up that ended with Bandido kicking Hechicero in the shins. They locked up for real with Hechicero walking Bandido into the corner, where nothing happened. The two locked up again, this time with Bandido getting a wristlock on. Again not satisfied, they locked up again, with Hechicero wrenching the arm of Bandido.

Hechicero took Bandido down with a leg sweep, locking his legs around his head. Bandido grabbed the rope and Bandido tried a headscissor, twisting through to send Hechicero to the mat. Hechicero reversed it into a surfboard style submission attempt, torquing the knee of Bandido.

Bandido hauled Hechicero up into a tombstone position, but Hechicero rolled through and grabbed Bandido, working the arm for a head scissor and double wristlock. Hechicero found Bandido’s ankle, but Bandido popped up and ate a big shoulder tackle. Hechicero continued working the arm, but missed a senton.

Hechicero dropped Bandido with a toe hold, Bandido responded with a frankensteiner, sending Hechicero to the outside. Hechicero climbed back into the ring and Bandido picked up the speed with some flips and dodges, running circles around Hechicero, finishing with a flip to the outside leaving both men on their backs.

Bandido got to his feet first and used the advantage to flip off Don Callis. Back in the ring, Bandido whipped Hechicero into the corner, but Hechicero came back with a high knee to Bandido’s chest. Hechicero hit a DDT next for a two count.

Hechicero tried to peel the mask from Bandido’s face, but settled for punching it instead. Hechicero hit a pump handle slam and Callis began causing a distraction at ringside. Hechicero hit a crossbody on Bandido on the ropes.

Bandido staggered to his feet to be met by punches from Hechicero. He started returning them, but Hechicero caught hid ankle on a leapfrog and pulled him to the mat. Hechicero wrapped up the legs of Bandido, trying to take away his speed in a surfboard.

Bandido powered out of it though and reversed it into an instep surfboard of his own. Hechicero stepped out of it and wrapped Bandido in a grapevine, forcing him to grab the ropes to break the hold. Bandido then rolled out of the ring and Hechicero followed.

Hechicero threw Bandido into the barricade and put him back in the ring. Hechicero put a sleeper on and then transitioned into an armbar. Hechicero wrenched the arm of Bandido back, twisting his shoulder.

Hechicero tried to tear Bandido’s mask again, ripping it and almost revealing Bandido’s face. Bandido staggered towards the ropes, but Hechicero didn’t let up. Bandido reached deep and started returning kicks and punches, followed by a spingboard corkscrew.

Bandido lifted Hechicero in a military press and dropped him on his head. Hechicero left the ring and Bandido followed with a corkscrew over the top rope. Bandidio threw Hechicero back into the ring and went up top for a frog splash, but Hechicero kicked out at two.

Bandido tried to pull up the mask of Hechicero, but stopped when the crowd disapproved. He swept Hechicero’s lego and sent him out of the ring. When he followed, Hechicero hooked his leg over the barricade and hit a big elbow off the ring apron (the most elbowy part of the ring!).

Hechicero climbed the barricade, bringing Bandido with him. Hechicero tried to suplex him, but Bandido blocked it, instead suplexing Hechicero on the barricade, leaving both men laying.

Hechicero tried to stomp Bandido on the ring apron, but Bandido got the knees up sending him off the apron. Bandido then climbed the ringpost and hit a high splash onto Hechicero. Bandido then slid back into the ring to beat the count as Hechicero staggerd up.

Hechicero moved to end the match, but Bandido exploded with a flurry of offense. Hechicero tried for another sleeper, but Bandido broke it by hyperextending the arm. Bandido then tried a Code Red, but hechicero blocked it and hit a helicopter down to the floor, smacking Bandido’s head against the barricade on the way down.

Back in the ring, Hechicero put Bandido in a body scissor and wrenched his knee back. Bandido wiggled free and staggered to his feet. Hechicero put on a spinning hammerlock, but Bandido countered the backbreaker. Hechicero hit a high knee and Bandido followed with a superkick. Bandido hit a headscissor takedown, but both men ended up flat on their backs.

Callis started pounding on the ring apron to get Hechicero moving but both men sat up at once. Bandido flipped off Hechicero and the two began headbutting each other. The got to their feet and Hechicero dropped the straps.

Bandido got a gutwrench spin out slam on Henchicero but Hechicero blocked the 21 plex. Bandido rolled over and lifted Hechicero off the ground. Hechicero tried to roll through but Bandido twisted into a leg lock. Hechicero flipped it into another surfboard style hold and Bandido got to the ropes.

Bandido put Hechicero on the the top turnbuckle and Hechicero headbutted him. Bandido hit a slam and then a 21 Plex attempt into a straightjacket and german suplex to finally get the pin and retain the title. Trifecta achieved!

Match Result: Bandido defeated Hechicero

ROH Women’s World Championship Match: Athena (c) vs. Mina Shirakawa

In case you forgot (because I sure did!) Shirakawa is the Interim ROH Women’s Television Champion while Red Velvet recovers from injury.  Also, the Blue Meanie, I mean, Blue Minion came down to the ring with Athena and her Minions in Training. Shirakawa also wanted to dance with the Meanie, which enraged Athena who kicked him out of the ring.

After a very agressive Code of Honor, the bell rang and the two locked up. Athena worked the shoulder of Shirakawa, as the two twisted around each other. They exchanged leaps and roll throughs until Shirakawa dodged a big right hand from Athena.

Athena ducked under the ropes and got some words of encouragment from Billie Starkz at ringside. Shirakawa laid a boot to Athena’s gut followed by as side russian leg sweep. Shirakawa shook her money maker on the top rope and hit a spingboard splash on Athena. Athena pushed her off, favoring her knee.

Athena rolled out, clutching her knee and Shirakawa followed, smacking Athena into the ring post. She went to punch Athena, but she ducked and Shirakawa punched the post with her already injured hand. From there, Athena worked the hand on the barricade and stuck in between the steps and the ring post. Athena then dropkicked the steps, crushing Shirakawa’s hand.

Back in the ring, Athena kicked Shirakawa into a pin attempt, then dropped a knee onto her already injured hand repeatedly. Athena put on a short arm scissor lock, bending Shirakawa’s arm back in on itself. She sent Shirakawa into the corner, bouncing her head off the turnbuckle.

Athena put Shirakawa’s hand into the turnbuckle and began kicking it repeatedly before sending her out of the ring with a baseball slide. She stomped Shirakawa’s hand against the barricade and charged her, but Shriakawa dodged it and Athena kicked the steel. Twice.

Athena hobbled after Shirakawa who sent her into the barricade before sliding back into the ring. Shirakawa dropkicked Athena’s knee and hit a sling blade for a two count. Athena tried a kick but Shirakawa turned it into a backbreaker.

Shirakawa wrapped Athena’s leg around the ring post, slamming it and then putting on a figure four. Starkz tried to intervene, allowing Athena to dive through the ropes, but Skirakawa dodged and Athena crashed into Starkz. Shirakawa used the distraction for a parkour splash. Athena caught her and threw her into the barricade.

Athena tossed Shirakawa back in the ring but as she was climbing in, Shirakawa grabbed her leg in a dragon screw then put on the figure four in the center of the ring. Athena clawed her way to the ropes breaking the hold.

Athena grabbed Shirakawa o hit her with a shining wizard. Athena popped back up though and hit a hard lariat onto Shirakawa, leaving them both on their backs in the ring. They started trading punches (and screams!) as they staggered to their feet, still trading blows.

Shirakawa kicked Athena’s knee, but Athena caught her and landed a pike driver right on her head. Athena hoisted Shirakawa onto her shoulders but Shirakawa turned it into a DDT for a two count. Shirakawa went up top and hit a slingblade, but only got a two count as well.

Shirakawa called for the Glamourous Driver, but Athena worked out of it and hit a skull expulsion. They rolled around the ring and Athena locked in a Koji clutch. Shirakawa hit her knee, forcing her to let go, but go caught by a superkick on the way up.

Athena went up top, looking for an O Face, but Shirakawa got to her feet and got her into an Electric Chair into a spin out flapjack. She then locked on another figure four in the center of the ring. Athena writhed in pain, trying to fight out of it. She rolled it over and reversed the figure four. Shirakawa reversed it back.

Finally, Athena got to the rope and broke the hold, clutching her knee while Starkz tried to energize her. Shirakawa went up top but Athena grabbed her ankle and punched her face. Athena hit a superplex and and tried a pop up powerbomb but Shirakawa hit a discus lariat.

Shirakawa nailed a glamourous driver, but Athena kicked out a two. Shirakawa tried a second driver, but Athena caught her and hit an armbar, complete with biting. Athena hit a straightjacket powerbomb and then went up top. She hit an O Face and got the pin 1-2-3! Athena retains the title and goes on to celebrate her 1000th day as champion.

Match Result: Athena defeated Mina Shirakawa

What a great and extremely long night of wrestling!

Ring of Honor TV live results: Death Before Dishonor go-home show

Tonight’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub is the final stop before Friday’s Death Before Dishonor streaming special.

The Workhorsemen & Adam Priest attempt to continue their run in the trios division with a challenge of CMLL’s Mistico, Neon & Mascara Dorada.

Okumura takes on the debuting Stigma of CMLL while Lance Archer battles BEEF.

Spanish Announce Project will be in action while MxM Collection and Johnny TV will hold an open challenge.

Taya Valkyrie will go one-on-one with Allysin Kay.

**********

Happy Death Before Dishonor’s Eve, everyone! I hope you and your loved ones are having fun decorating the Death Before Dishonor tree, singing Death Before Dishonor carols and putting out milk and cookies for Athena to smash over someone’s head (don’t forget the carrot for Billie Starkz)! Before the big event though, we’ve got tonight’s ROH on Honorclub offerings, starting with:

Lance Archer vs BEEF

The latest in the Lance Archer Kills The ROH Universe multi-issue event, featuring BEEF. BEEF made his shocking and memorable surprise return in a match I think he lost. No word on if he’s still Anthony Henry’s cousin.

BEEF offered his hand for a code of honor, but that’s not how Archer rolls. BEEF tried a fist to the face instead, but Archer caught in in midair and sent him to the corner for some big splashing elbows. Archer followed it up with a big side slam.

BEEF is not a small man, but Archer treated him like Rey Mysterio taking on Kevin Nash. He threw BEEF around thing ring, including a reverse DDT off the ropes that looked really gnarly. BEEF did his best to get some offense in, but Archer chopped him to hell and back every time.

Archer overwhelmed BEEF with quick throws and clubbing blows. Beef got a few jabs in, but barely knocked Archer off his feet. BEEF managed to land a springboard crossbody, but it resulted in just a one-count.

Archer goozled BEEF and landed a big slam, but BEEF, to his credit, kicked out. BEEF went up top, but Archer scaled the ropes and hit a big knee. That allowed Archer to hit a blackout and get the three count.

Match Result: Lance Archer defeated BEEF

I like watching Archer squash guys as much as the next person, but we are approaching Satnam Singh territory where the lack of competition is making him a little less interesting.

-Footage from a RevPro event featuring ROH Women’s Champion Athena was shown. Athena was verbally abusing the crowd, promising to kick Mina Shirakowa’s butt at Death Before Dishonor. Billie Starkz tombstoned Athena’s opponent on the ROH Title belt while the crowd booed. Athea decided that the booing meant that they needed to set a bigger example and she and Starkz set her up to get her arm broken, when Shirakowa arrived with a Kendo stick. She wailed on Starkz while Athena turned tail.

Taya Valkyrie (w/Johnny TV, Mansoor & Mason Madden) vs Allysin Kay

Valkyrie and her entourage entered in coats big enough to make late-90’s Triple H say “Wow, those are big coats.” Tips were touched and poses were struck.

Valkyrie charged Kay off the bell, but Kay dodged it and whipped her into the corner. Kay threw Valkyrie against the ropes and she used them to get out of the ring for a reset. Back in the ring, Valkyrie laid out Kay with a mid-torso lariat.

Valkyrie tossed Kay out of the ring, giving her a chance to make out with TV. She then threw Kay back in the ring and started delivering chops, followed by a big lariat. Kay fought back though with some chops of her own, finishing up with a kick to the back of the head and a German suplex.

Valkyrie turned up the juice though with some quick stomps and then Madden and TV got up on the apron for a distraction. That allowed Valkyrie to hit Shania Pain and that was it.

Match Result: Taya Valkyrie defeated Allysin Kay

After the match, Mansoor grabbed a mic and asked the “mutant” crowd to give it up for Valkyrie. From there, Mansoor said that every wrestler in the back is to scared to answer their open challenge. So MxMxTV will be using the remaining time in the broadcast to pose. All of it.

Suddenly though, the Dark Order appeared, in even better coats. Evil Uno, John Silver and Alexs Reynolds wandered down to the ring and made it known that they would be answering the open challenge.

MxMxTV (Johnny TV, Mansoor & Mason Madden) (w/Taya Valkyrie) vs The Dark Order (Evil Uno, John Silver and Alex Reynolds)

The impromptu match began with Uno vs Mansoor but quickly deteriorated into a 3-on-3 brawl with a lot of posing. The Order hit a double leg sweep on Mansoor, setting him up in the corner for three spashes.

Uno and Silver were pulled out of the ring by TV and Madden and Reynolds tried to dive through the ropes, but was caugh midair by the massive Madden. They beat up Reynolds, with TV using Valkyrie as a weapon and powerbombing her onto Reynolds on the barricade.

Back in the ring, Madden spent some time dragging Reynolds to his feet, then smacking him back down. Valkyrie and TV continued making out.

Mansoor tagged in, but Reynolds finally got some offense in and tried his darnedest to get a hot tag to someone to Uno or Silver. TV tagged in and crushed Reynold’s face with a shining wizard. Silver jumped in to break the count up.

Reynolds hit a springboard clothesline, finally getting the hot tag to Uno. Uno cleared the ring with a series of corner splashes, including stacking up all three members of MxMxTV for a big one. Uno then hit a DDT on Mansoor for a two count.

TV and Mansoor tried some stereo moves on Reynolds and Uno and when Madden interfered, some triple stereo kicks. Silver was the legal man as the Order went to finish off Mansoor. Madden pulled Silver out though and TV took out Uno and Reynolds.

Silver got MAdden off his feet and hit a suplex on the march larger man. Silver got MAdden up in a torture rack, but Mansoor hit a low blow out of view of the ref. MxMxTV then hit a centerfold on Silver and got the pin.

Match Result: MxMxTV defeated The Dark Order

Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) vs Stephen Wolf & Danny Orion

Angelico started off against Wolf who fell victim to Angelico’s smooth and gel-like style. Wolf managed a wristlock, but Angelico dragged him over and swept the leg into an Armbar. He dragged Wolf to the corner and tagged in Serpentico.

Angeilco used Serpentico as a weapon, slamming him onto Wolf. Wolf staggered up and tagged in Orion, who had a fast exchange with Serpentico, that included a big double stomp. Serpentico found himself cut off from Angelico as Wolf tagged back in and hit an Irish Whip into the corner.

Wolf started to gt cocky, posing and working the crowd after an elbow. Orion tagged in and got Serpentico into a torture rack and then thew him onto the top rope. Wolf tagged back in and stomped the smaller Serpentico repeatedly.

Serpentico finally got a diving flatliner on Wolf, allowing him to get the tag to Angelico. Angelico roared in and cleaned house, sending Orion to his knees, then jumping off of him to clothesline Wolf. Angelico hit a back suplex for a pin, but Wolf broke it up.

Orion and Wolf double teamed Angelico, but he was able to wriggle is way around it, sending Wolf to the outside, where Serpentico took him out with a dive. Orion tried and handspring, but Angelico caugh him in a grapevine and that was it. Orion tapped out.

Match Result: Spanish Announce Project defeated Stephen Wolf & Danny Orion

-Next, QTV returned as QT Marshall ran down Paul Walter Hauser while Aaron Solo hung out. Also, Harley Cameron was there and that made it the best segment in the show. Anyway, MArshall and Hauser will have a Fight Without Honor at Death Before Dishonor.

Okumura vs Stigma

Fun Fact: Okomura is 53 years young, debuting on New Years Eve 1994. He debuted in ROH 2016 but has never won a singles match under the Ring of Honor Banner. Stigma is a total lightweight, meaning he is the current CMLL World Lightweight champion.

The two locked up off the top, with Stigma getting the first wristlock. Okumura reversed it and threw him off, leading to a reset. Stigma dug into his bag of luchadore tricks and managed to get Okumura off his feet for a few seconds with a flurry of moves.

Okumura powered back though, exploding from the mat, but Stigma hit a hurricanrana, sending him to the outside. Stigma dove out after him and hit a flying tackle from the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!).

Stigma threw Okumura back into the ring and went up top. He hit a stomp from the second rope and then went all the way to the top rope for a diving splash. Okumura kicked out at two.

Stigma sent Okumura into the corner, but Okumura turned the tables with a big suplex from the second rope. Okumura hit a falcon arrow for a two count and the chops began. They went back and forth until Stigma switched things up with a running kick.

Okumura then hit a Tower of London and managed to get the pin.

Match Result: Okumura defeated Stigma

-Almost as an after thought, it was announced that the World Six Man Titles and the Tag Titles have been declared vacant! At Death Before Dishonor, the Von Erichs will get a chance to win them back and Sammy Guevara and a mystery partner will battle the Outrunners for the ROH Tag Titles!

El Sky Team (Mascara Dorada, Mistico & Neon) vs Adam Priest & The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake)

Priest has really caught fire these last few weeks and teaming him with Drake and Henry is a terrific idea. There’s a lot of trios suddenly forming and arriving in ROH so hopefully those Trios championships will get a workout.

Henry and Mistico locked up first in what was declared a Lucha rules match, meaning they didn’t need to make tags and a new man could enter as another left the ring. Henry got the jump on Mistico and Drake immediately came in for a double team.

Mistico took out both Henry and Drake as Dorada came in and hit a hurricanrana on Drake. Neon came in and took out Henry, leaving Priest for Mistico to land a huge twisting slam from the top rope. Sky Team went for a triple dive, but were cut off by their opponents.

Neon and Henry fought with Henry sending him out of the ring thanks to an assist by Priest. All three of them beat on Neon on the outside before Priest dragged him back into the ring, isolating him in the Workhorsemen’s corner.

Henry held Neon down as Drake jumped over the top rope in a modified senton. The thriple team continued in the corner, until Neon began getting some shots in on Drake. Drake grabbed Neon by the mask and drove him back into the corner though.

Priest and Drake attacked Mistico and Dorada in the corner, knocking them off the apron and leaving Neon even more prone to multi-person attacks. The match slowed a lot here, until Neon got a shotgun dropkick on Henry. Mistico and Dorada entered and tossed Priest and Henry out so Sky Team could hit their triple dive to the outside.

Mistico set Henry up in the ring for a big kick and pin attempt, but he kicked out at to. Mistico hit a snap slam, but Drake broke up the in. Dorada and Neon came in to take Drake and whip him against the ropes. The bigger man’s momentum allowed him to take out the luchadores.

Priest flew in and tried to get a pin on Mistico, but he kicked out at two. The men traded forearms and all six men started brawling in the ring. Everyone paired off, leaving Drake and Neon in the ring. Henry joined them, but he was sent back out and Sky Team took turns kicking Drake to the outside.

Mistico came in, but Priest tried to catch him looking and ended up with a superkick for his trouble. Dorada hit a huge splash fro the top rope, and Mistic locked a spinning armbar on Henry who was forced to tap out.

Match Result: El Sky Team defeated Adam Priest & The WorkHorsemen

After the match, Mistico grabbed a mic and said Viva Mexico before being attacked by a masked Luchadore who turned out to be none other than CMLL World Light Heavyweight Champion MJF! MJF said that he owned the USA and Mistico will never get a shot at his title before stomping off to close the show.

Wow, MJF on ROH, who’da thunk it? Lots of Luchadore fun to end the night! See you tomorrow for Death Before Dishonor!

Ring of Honor TV live results: El Sky Team vs. Los Depredadores

A CMLL rivalry will make its way to Ring of Honor on HonorClub tonight as El Sky Team will take on Los Depredadores.

El Sky Team is made up of Mistico, Neon & Mascara Dorada while Los Depredadores is Volador Jr., Rugido and Magnus.

Other CMLL stars will be on the show as Hechicero takes on former ROH World Champion Jay Lethal while The Beast Mortos battles AR Fox.

Blake Christian takes on Beef while Trish Adora will also be in action.

Two thirds of the ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles — The Von Erichs — will be in traditional tag team action as they try to navigate the waters with Dustin Rhodes out of action.

A potential new ROH Six-Man title contender may be on the rise as The WorkHorsemen and Adam Priest will join forces.

**********

BEEF! BEEF is back! Where is the BEEF? Here is the BEEF! Who is BEEF?

All that and more on this week’s edition of ROH on Honorclub!

CMLL World Trios Title Match: El Sky Team (Mascara Dorada, Mistico & Neon) (c) vs Los Depredadores (Magnus, Rugido & Volador Jr.)

Hook it to my veins! El Sky Team would have to be the favorite here, especially when judging by crowd excitement (and music selection!). Volador and Mistico have allegedly wrestled each other over 600 times. That’s crazy!

Rugido and Neon paired up first with a quick exchange of wrist and other such locks. Dorada and Magnus tagged in with Magnus getting a big spin on Dorada before being sent out of the ring on the rebound. Volador tagged in for a frustrated Magnus.

Mistico sent him to the mat with some high kicks, sending Volador packing. Magnus took out Neon on the outside and then Magnus, Volador and Rugido triple teamed Mistico. Dorada tried to help but ended up taking the place of Mistico in the triple beatdown.

Mistico and Neon came in with stereo springboard headscissors and Dorada added one of his own for good measure. Then a triple dive to get everyone out of the ring.

Once the dust had settled, Mistico and Magnus were legal. Magnus popped up Mistico who reveresed it with some help from Dorada. Dorada then tagged in to take on Volador ending a great chain with a hurricanrana.

Mistico tagged in to take on Magnus, who cheap shotted him with a punch from behind. That brought in Dorada and Neon and a brawl ensued leaving all six men laying. Magnus and Mistico got up first and climbed the turnbuckles for Mistico to land a C4.

Neon caught Rugido and Dorada countered a spin from Magnus. Mistico and Dorada grabbed Rugido and Magnus and put them in a double leg stretch. Neon then hit a triangle moonsault wristlock takedown I(that’s what Riccaboni called it) and Dorada hit a shooting star press. Mistico locked in LA Mistica on Rugido and he tapped out, leaving those belts with the champions!

Match Result: El Sky Team (Mascara Dorada, Mistico & Neon) defeated Los Depredadores (Magnus, Rugido & Volador Jr.)

Good match but there should be a law preventing luchadores on the same team from dressing alike.

Blake Christian (w/Lee Johnson) vs BEEF

If you don’t remember BEEF, he’s the “cousin” of either Anthony Henry, or JD Drake. He filled in for one of them in the Workhorsemen. His thing is that he gets over excited and can’t be stopped. Really. Christian is, as always, one of the grumpiest and best dressed in ROH.

The two locked up and the much more agile Christian found himself up against a wall of, well, BEEF. Christian tried hard to get the bigger man off his feet, but BEEF was able to take just about anything that was dished out, including interference from Johnson.

Christian tried to meet BEEF’s brawling style in the middle with some punches in the corner. He then climbed the ropes and literally sauntered on them until BEEF pulled him down. BEEF started with the punches, but Christian was able to hit a high lariat and send him down in the middle of the ring.

Christian then kicked BEEF a lot, but kept checking his shoes for stains, so I assume BEEF is quite greasy,

BEEF started punching the gut of Christian, but fell to a drop kick to the knee. Christian then choked BEEF with the ropes. Christian went for a springboard, but BEEF met him with some jabs, a cartwheel and dropkick, in that order.

Johnson caused a distraction allowing Christian to hit a spear on the ring apron (the beefiest part of the ring!) followed by a second, before throwing BEEF back into the ring. Christian hit a 450 stomp and Vanilla Choke Zero, forcing BEEF to tap out.

Match Result: Blake Christian defeated BEEF

After the match, Christian attacked BEEF, nailing a top rope stomp spicolli driver with the help of Johnson.

Fun match, what I like about a lot of ROH matches is that they are timed very well. Each match feels like a natural and appropriate length.

-Backstage, QT Marshall reminded us that he and Paul Walter Hauser will have a Fight Without Honor at Death Before Dishonor. Neat. I guess.

The Beast Mortos (w/Dralistico & Rush) vs AR Fox

Fox won $50k last month. I don’t know about you, but I’d take a few months off, or at least carry it around in a sack with a dollar sign on it. Anyway, Mortos is an unstoppabale monster from the depths of the nether realm.

Mortos charged out of the gate, but Fox matrix-ed it and was able to dodge. That continued for a bit, Mortos would charge, Fox would get out of the way. On the last one, Mortos exited the ring and Fos dove over the top rope onto him.

Back in the ring, Mortos hit a big death valley driver and followed it with a flapjack. Mortos set Fox up in the corner and hita. few back elbows to get a two count. Dralistico made a bunch of noise on the outside while Rush stalked around approvingly.

Mortos pulled Fox to the ring apron for another driver, but Fox got out of it and pulled him back into the ring over the top rope. He then delivered a double stomp to Mortos’ middle followed by a moonsault onto Mortos on the outside.

Fox then hit a swanton from the top rope inside the ring, but Mortos kicked out at two. Fox tried to get Mortos up in ta direman’s carry, but Mortos reversed it and crushed him for a two count. Mortos picked up Fox who flipped over and charged, but Mortos hit him with a big boot.

Fox finally got Mortos up for a fireman’s carry and death valley driver, but Mortos responded with a spiked powerbomb and that was in for AR Fox.

Match Result: The Beast Mortos defeated AR Fox

After the match, Rush and Dralistico joined Mortos in the ring for a beatdown on Fox. Sadly, no one came to help Fox and LFI celebrated in the ring.

-The Workhorsemen then came down to the ring. Drake grabbed a mic saying that they hard a match with the Trios Champions (The Von Erichs and Dustin Rhodes), but they will have to forefit since Dustin Rhodes is out of action. The Von Erichs then came to the ring.

Ross said that they had a new partner (and I guess new champion?) and called down… Sammy Guevara! One half of the ROH Tag Champions, also with Dustin Rhodes.

The Workhorsemen (JD drake, Anthony Henry & Adam Priest) vs ROH Trios Champions The Von Erichs (Marshall and Ross) and Sammy Guevara

With not a word about if the titles were on the line or not, the match started with Guevara and Priest. Quickly Marshall was tagged in and took over with a slam to Priest. Ross tagged in to take a turn and Priest sent him to the ropes, where Henry kicked him in the back. That started a brawl of all six men.

When things settled down, Ross and Priest were the legal men and Priest blocked a splash in ther voner and tagged in Henry. He dragged Ross to his team’s corner, isolating him from Marshall and Guevara for a triple team.

Ross battled out of it with a huge dropkick to the head of Priest, which brought in Henry to stomp on Ross. Drake came in and he and Henry had a miscommunication and knocked noggins. Guevara then hit a splash on Henry and Drake, causing another melee.

Priest and Guevara ended up legal and Guevara hit a big cutter for a two count. Henry tagged in and caught Guevara with an elbow, followed by a slam from Drake and a flying elbow from Priest. They dragged Guevara up to the entrance ramp and Guevara hit a double cutter and a drop kick, dispatching the Workhorsemen.

Priest and Guevara headed back to the ring, but Guevara got a hot tag to Marshall who began cleaning house. Marshall caught Priest in a crossbody and hit a Claw slam followed by a Claw Classic on Priest to get the win.

Match Result: The Von Erichs & Sammy Guevara defeated The Workhorsemen and Adam Priest

I was so upset when Rhodes got hurt, but I’m very glad they are working towards doing something with the ROH titles that he held.

Trish Adora vs Janai Kai

Adora and Kai locked up after the usual Shane Taylor Promotions entrance. Kai kept pace with Adora through the opening minutes, but Adora soon wrestled her to the mat. Kai responded with a series of kicks and a pin attempt.

Adora swept the leg of Kai (yeah, that happened), and began stomping her knee, keeping her off her feet. Adora hit a DDT on Kai’s ankle, that was in a brace of some kind.

Adora did the split-legged squash/stretch that has been devastating recently, but Kai remained in the match and came back with a twisting slam on Adora. She left herself open for a backbreaker though and Adora obliged.

Kai hit a big kick to the back followed by a waistlock slam for a two-count. Adora responded with a German suplex and Lariat Tubman to put Kai on the mat for three,

Match Result: Trish Adora defeated Janai Kai

That was fun! Kai may actually be made of spaghetti.

-Backstage the Von Erich’s and Guevara discussed how Guevara should wrestle with them at Death Before Dishonor. Guevara thanked them and said he has a spot to fill too. Marshall said that either one of them would stand in and help him defend the Tag Titles. Then they left. So I guess the three of them are ROH Trios AND Tag Team Champions?

-Next, a promo aired featuring Bandido beating up cowboys a the Silver Dollar Saloon. It had no purpose other than it existed and I’m thankful for it.

Hechicero (w/Don Callis) vs Jay Lethal

Speaking of Bandido, he is facing Hechicero at Death Before Dishonor for the ROH World Title, so Hechicero gerts this warm-up match with former ROH World Champion, Jay Lethal. I love it when everything works together like that.

Hechcero grabbed a waistlock on Lethal to open things up. Lethal reversed it into a wristlock and the two took a second to reset.

Lethal came out swinging with an armdrag and dropkick, sending Hechicero out of the ring. Lethal dragged him back in and got a two count, but Hechicero was far from done. He grabbed Lethal’s ankle in mid air and slammed him to the mat, following that with a healthy dose of kicks and stomps.

Callis looked pleased at ringside as Hechicero put a headlock on Lethal. Lethal roilled out of it and tried a few flash pin strategies, but two-counts all around. Hechicero got tired of this and hit a DDT, showing he was in full control. Callis choked Lethal at ringside, causing the Ref to eject him.

Hechicero, foreced to wrestle without his muse, went to trading jabs with Lethal. Lethal hit him with a crossbody and tried a fireman’s carry but Hechicero wriggled out of it. Lethal went up top for an elbow, but Hechicero got his feet up. Lethal saw it coming and avoided the reversal, hitting a lethal combination instead.

Lethal tried to get a Lethal Injection in, but Hechicero stopped him. Hechicero hit a sunset flip and locked in a grapevine, stretching Lethal until the Ref was forced to call it.

Match Result: Hechicero defeated Jay Lethal

Excellent match, super fun and a great preview of what should be a banger between Hechicero and Bandido at Death Before Dishonor next week!

ROH spoilers from Glasgow: Scotty 2 Hotty & son in tag team action

Image: Limitless Wrestling

Former WWE star and current AEW producer Scotty 2 Hotty made his return to Ring of Honor for the first time in 15 years on Wednesday, teaming with his son for the first time in the promotion.

S2H and the debuting Keagan Garland were part of the ROH tapings prior to the Dynamite taping at the OVO Hydro in Glasglow, Scotland. The two defeated Jon Cruz & Bret Levi which is expected to air on a future ROH TV broadcast.

Garland, trained by Ace Steel, has teamed with his father several times in his very young career including two appearances for Maine’s Limitless Wrestling. S2H is a native of the state.

S2H’s only ROH match before Wednesday was a two-minute defeat to Larry Zbyszko at SoCal Showdown in January 2010.

Here’s the full results from the ROH taping:

  • Trish Adora defeated Alexxis Falcon
  • Scotty 2 Hotty & Keagan Garland defeated Jon Cruz & Bret Levi
  • Lance Archer (w/ Rocky Romero) defeated two local wrestlers. Grado appeared afterward and brawled with Archer, getting a low bridge on him before exchanging blows with Rocky Romero.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Former Oro Mensah debuts, Lee Moriarty in action

The former Oro Mensah in WWE NXT makes his debut in Ring of Honor tonight as part of this week’s HonorClub show.

The 29-year-old now going by “The Main Man” Oro will have tough competition as he takes on Tomohiro Ishii.

Ring of Honor Pure Champion Lee Moriarty will battle CMLL’s Xelhua in a Proving Ground match where if the challenger beats or draws the champion, they earn a future title shot.

In an eight-man tag team match, Team CMLL (the debuting Difunto, Volador Jr., The Beast Mortos & Hechicero) will take on AR Fox, Serpentico, Angelico, and Alex Zayne.

Leila Grey takes on Taya Valkyrie while Gringo Loco takes on Willie Mack in a rematch from 2023.

The card is rounded out by Lance Archer in action against an opponent(s) to be named.

**********

Thursday night is here and that means it’s time for more hot, saucy Ring of Honor Action!

Alex Zayne, AR Fox & Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) vs. Difunto, Hechicero, The Beast Mortos & Volador Jr.

And what better way to kick off a show than with Luchadores and plenty of ’em! Hechicero has a date with Bandido for the ROH world title at the end of the month, Mortos is mor-tastic and SAP are everlasting favorites. This should be fun!

Angelico and Hechicero started things off. Angelico’s agility was a nice offset to Hechicero’s power, which was on display through a flurry of technical chain wrestling. Respect was shown as the two traded dance moves as well.

Difunto tagged in to face Fox and if you haven’t seen Difunto, it’s worth a google. He’s kind of a caveman/skeleton/sasquach and he’s got a really unique luchadore style. It threw Fox off and he tagged in Zayne. To meet him though was Mortos, who you never want to see staring you down.

Zayne stacked Mortos up in the corner for a hurricanrana, followed by some knees to the back and a senton. Mortos actually showed some vulnerability and tagged in Volador to face Serpentico. Volador looked a little sluggish as Serpentico bounced around him, but all he was able to get out of it was a two count.

Serpentico went for a dive through the ropes, but Lance Archer, who had accompanied Hechicero tot he ring, tripped him up, sparking an all hands on deck brawl. Angelico was the only one left standing and Difunto sent him into the corner with a dropkick. Angelico got quadruple teamed, until a dropkick sent him out of the ring.

Zayne jumped in but met the same fate, getting stacked in the corner. Difunto went coast to coast from the top turnbuckle and dropkicked him. Hechicero continued the assault until Zayne rolled out and was replaced by Fox. Clearly one team has seen too many Segal movies as they keep trying to attack one at a time.

Fox found his footing though, delivering elbows to Difunto and Mortos in the corners, followed by a cutter to Mortos. Fox and Zanye hit sentons from the top rope on Hechicero one after the other, but just a two count.

SAP cleared the ring, leaving Zayne and Hechicero in the ring. Hechicero climbed the ladder and hit a big knee on Zayne’s face. The two rolled through a bunch of pinning combinations with Hechicero finally able to nail Zayne’s shoulders to the mat and pick up the win.

Match Result: Difunto, Hechicero, The Beast Mortos & Volador Jr. defeated Alex Zayne, AR Fox & Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico)

A beat down began after the match, but the music of Bandido hit and the Champion came to the ring with back up. Brody King, Tomohiro Ishii and more came down and cleared out the bad guys.

-Next, the Premier Athletes were in the back trying to cut promos in spanish regarding their upcoming CMLL match. Daivari got frustrated until Sterling pointed out that the Athletes are undefeated in Lucha Rules matches. Which, I supposed, technically is true.

Willie Mack vs Gringo Loco

Then, it was time for my favorite part of any wrestling show: the big guys hitting each other bigly match! Mack and Loco almost seem like they could be alternate dimension versions of each other as they are both big men who move with crazy agility.

The crowd was hot as they locked up with Loco putting on a wristlock. Mack flipped it around and seemed to threaten Loco’s junk, causing the luchadore to back off. The two exchanged a really fun chain ending with a slam attempt from Mack that Loco reversed mid air and landed on his feet.

“It’s kind of like that movie, The Parent Trap” interjected Ian Riccaboni as Loco and Mack found themselves at another stalemate. This time, Loco asked Mack to turn this into a dance contest and the two gyrated their hips, with the winner being, I dunno, Loco I guess.

Mack sent Loco to the outside and went for a dive, but Loco moved, stopping Mack short and leading to him casually humping the ring. Buy it dinner first, Mack!

Eventually the wrestling started with Loco going up top and hitting a swichfoot moonsault, but took too much time and Mack rolled out of the way. He hopped to his feet and delivered a shoulder block to Loco. Mack went up top but Loco followed him, dragging him down with a tightrope spanish fly!

Loco leapt off the rope, but Mack grabbed him and hit a stunner followed by shining wizard. Mack then went up top for a frog splash and that put Loco down for good (as it would any human).

Match Result: Willie Mack defeated Gringo Loco

That was a cool match, but man was it ever slow. Both these guys can move fast when they need to so it really stands out when they slow it down. Still great though.

Lance Archer vs Ren Jones

Archer appeared with his music, dragging Jones down the entrance ramp, bouncing his head off of pretty much anything he could find. Jones tried to fight back, but Archer chopped him against the barricade again and again.

Finally, Archer threw Jones in the ring and the bell rang, just in time for Archer to deliver half a dozen big elbows in the corner. Archer lifted Jones from the top rope and hit a blackout in the middle of the ring, ending the match before it began, kind of.

Match Result: Lance Archer defeated Ren Jones

Leila Grey (w/Christopher Daniels) vs. Taya Valkyrie (w/Johnny TV, Mansoor & Mason Madden)

I understand Grey’s instinct to bring Daniels with her as backup, but they are still outnumbered 2-to-1 so maybe bring a few more friends next time? SkyFlight came out on the entrance ramp, but not down to the ring. Which seemed weird.

Grey and Valkyrie kicked things off like you’d expect, with a posedown followed by some hard chops from Grey. Grey sent Valkyrie into the corner and delivered a hard lariat for a two count. TV and Daniels shouted encouragement from ringside.

TV grabbed Grey’s ankle under the ropes, giving Valkyrie an opening to take control. She stopmed Grey’s leg, working it over. Valkyrie sent Grey to the outside, giving her a chance to make out with TV. Valkyrie then threw Grey back into the ring, locking in a wristlock-based abdominal stretch.

Grey fought out of it though, sending Valkyrie to the mat with a clothesline, and then the two hit simultaneous head slams, knocking themselves both down. The two traded punches with Grey hitting a surprise cutter, but only getting a two count.

TV jumped up on the ring apron to cause a distraction, but Daniels ran around and pulled him down. That gave Grey an opening for another cutter into a dragon sleeper. Valkyrie held on as long as she could, but ended up being forced to tap out.

Match result: Leila Grey defeated Taya Valkyrie

-Backstage, Willie Mack mused that since he was back on ROH TV, maybe he should go for that TV title? That summoned Nick Wayne, who dared Mack to try and take it from him. This seemed to confuse Mack, but I assume it means a match at some point. Or maybe not. You never know.

Tomohiro Ishii vs Oro

Oro is making his ROH debut here after a spell in NXT. The bad news is that he clearly drew the short straw and has to face the NJPW Strong Openweight Champion and turtleneck enthusiast, Ishii in said debut.

Ishii refused a code of honor, choosing instead to send Oro into the ropes. Oro was looking to make an impression here, but Ishii was having none of it, absorbing offense and dishing out punishment. Oro went up top for a splash but Ishii caught him on the way down.

Oro picked up the speed, trying to out-pace Ishii with some backflip kicks and a chop that seemed to actually hurt Ishii, which is rare. Oro’s strikes were just as hard as Ishii, causing the NJPW star to stagger as Oro hit a suplex. This is impressive as I feel that Ishii has way more density and atomic weight than the average human.

Ishii delivered a suplex of his own as it was Ishii’s turn to chop in the corner. Ishii planted Oro with a big lariat, but couldn’t land the brainbuster. Oro hit a springboard moonsault and dragon suplex, but only got a two count.

The two traded headbutts and shots in the center of the ring with Oro coming out on top to deliver a springboard thrust kick. Oro tried a hammerlock, but Ishii lariated him into next week and hit that brain buster. Oro was out and Ishii picked up the victory.

Match Result: Tomohiro Ishii defeated Oro

I gotta say, a solid debut for Oro. He kept pace with Ishii and it was in no way a one-sided affair. He flew a little too close to the sun, but looked good doing it.

ROH Pure Title Proving Ground Match: Lee Moriarty [c] vs. Xelhua

Main Event, Pure Rules and Proving Ground time! Moriarty has held that Pure title for well over a year at this point, defeating some pretty impressive challengers. For those that need a reminder, both men get three rope breaks, one closed fist and a 10 minute time limit. If the challenger can win or last the 10 minutes they earn a future title shot.

The match started with Moriarty keeping things slow, looking to work the clock. Xelhua hit a standing frog splash though and the speed picked up. Moriarty lured him in for an ankle takedown and the two became an entanglement of limbs.

Moriarty came out on top as the two tried to overpower each other with roll throughs. Moriarty slapped on a cobra lock and Xelhua had to use a rope break at 6:44. Xelhua tied up Moriarty in a crazy pretzel, but Moriarty was able to get his foot on the rope for a break at 5:25.

Xelhua wrenched Moriarty’s knee, working the leg. Moriarty hit a springbaord forearm, but it was only a two count. Moriarty put a modified facelock figure four on Xelhua, but was too close to the ropes and at 3:54, Xelhua used his second rope break.

Things picked up with a series of arm drags into a backbreaker from Xelhua. He hit an inside cloverleaf next, forcing a second rope break from Moriarty at 2:34. Time was definitely ticking away and Moriarty hit a straightjacket into a Border City Strech. Xelhua managed to worm out of it, and locked in a crazy waist surfboard hold.

With barely 90 seconds left, the two started trading shots with Moriarty ending it with a flurry of forearms and a second Border City Stretch. Xelhua had nowhere to go, but wiggled free, locking Moriarty in a hold as the clock ticked down to 15 seconds.

Moriarty was trapped, but held on until the time expired. That means that Xelhua has earned a future shot at the ROH Pure Title.

Match Result: Lee Moriary vs Xelhua went to a time limit draw

You don’t see Moriarty on the losing end of a proving ground match very often! Cool way to end the show!

Ring of Honor TV live results: Bandido vs. Gringo Loco, Mistico in tag team action

Ring of Honor World Champion Bandido will be in action on tonight’s show on HonorClub.

Bandido will take on Gringo Loco in a Proving Ground match where if the challenger can draw or defeat the champion, he earns a future title shot.

The legendary Mistico will team with Mascara Dorada in a CMLL showcase bout against Blake Christian and Lee Johnson.

In another CMLL showcase, Volador Jr., Magnus and Rugido battle Dark Order (John Silver, Evil Uno & Alex Reynolds).

In tag team action, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will team with Billie Starkz while the undefeated team of Satnam Singh & Jay Lethal will also be in action.

**********

Time for the most honoriffic Ring of Honor the ring has to offer! It’s ROH on Honorclub and it kicks off with a huge Proving Ground Match!

ROH World Title Proving Ground Match: Bandido [c] vs. Gringo Loco

Gringo Loco lost an ROH World Television Title Proving Ground match to Nick Wayne a couple of weeks ago, so by ROH logic that means he gets a chance to earn a chance to wrestle for the World Title. Don’t think about it too much. All you need to know is Bandido is low-key the most entertaining champion in wrestling right now and Loco is a fantastic worker. This should be great and if Loco loses, there’s always the Pure Title!

Loco tried for a lockup off the top, but Bandido responded with punches. He followed that up with a big headscissor and then Loco caught him on a charge and sent him to the outside. Loco dove after Bandido and threw him back in the ring for a two count.

Loco started thumping Bandido with big fists and a sit-out powerbomb. Loco tried a pop-up powerbomb next, but Bandido turned it into a hurricanrana. Bandido put Loco up on the top turnbuckle, but Loco shoved him off, and hit a split legged twisting moonsault that was *mwah, Chefs kiss.

Ian Riccaboni casually mentioned here that Bandido will face Herchicero for the ROH title at Death Before Dishonor. Neato.

Loco and Bandido found themselves on the top turnbuckle again and Loco hit a perfect reverse C4, but it only got a two count. Loco went back to the moonsault well, but Bandido dodged it and hit a crucifix driver, followed by a frog splash. The ref counted to three, dashing the hopes of Gringo Loco.

Match Result: Bandido defeated Gringo Loco

Fun opener!! I love Bandido and Gringo Loco, so seeing them square off was great. However, I think someone needs to start keeping track of when someone gets a Proving Ground shot. It’s a little weird to lose one and then get a better one.

Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh (w/Karen Jarrett) vs GPA & Hunter Holdcraft

As if Singh needed a tag team partner and as if it needed to be someone as high-profile as Lethal. Sing could take on GPA and Holdcraft plus several of their friends a relatives without breaking a sweat. So we’ll see who does the heavy lifting here. Maybe Lethal is a genius and hit is how he gets paid to have a night “off.”

For some reason, Lethal started the match against Holdcraft. Why they wouldn’t send the 7-foot-8 (according to Riccaboni) guy in first is beyond me.

Anyway, Hodlcraft managed to get some offense in on Lethal, grinding his knee into the back of Lethals head along the second rope. GPA tagged in after that and they isolated Lethal in the corner. They beat him up a bit and then much to their chagrin, Singh was tagged in.

GPA and Holdcraft didn’t bother with tags after that and I kinda agree. What’s the point? Singh manhandled them, chopping each man to death before tossing him into the opposite corner. I think Lethal left to get a drink after Singh began chokeslamming Holdcraft at will.

Lethal popped in to hit a Lethal Injection on Hodlcraft. Singh Chokeslammed GPA and for everyone’s sake, GPA stayed down and Sing and Lethal took the match.

Match Result: Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh (w/Karen Jarrett) defeated GPA & Hunter Holdcraft

I have no problem with big, dominant monsters, but honestly, there’s no one that can believably beat Singh, or a tag team he’s in. They need to come up with a creative edge for him, or he’s bound to run out of people to squash.

Missa Kate and Lanie Luck vs. Athena and Billie Starkz

ROH Forever Champion Athena has her eyes set on AEW’s top prize these days, so it’s nice that she’s gracing us with her presence this week. The unknown factor here is Starkz. Starks has spent the last few months loving being a minion, then being sad about being a minion, then being mad about being a minion, then… this. So maybe working together these two can remind themselves why they tag in the first place: Because they have to.

Starkz and Athena jumped their opponents off the Code of Honor, with Starks and Kate fighting in the ring and Athena throwing Luck into the barricades on the outside.

Athena climbed the ring and tagged in, bringing brutal shots to Kate. KAte shoved Athena into the corner, where Starkz got the blind tag. Luck put Starkz to the mat with a big boot and then a driver. Starkz hit a back breaker in retaliation and climbed the top turnbuckle. Luck beat her there though, and tried to hit a suplex, but Athena came in and pulled Luck off the ropes.

Starkz and Athena then put stereo submissions on Kate and Luck who tapped immediately.

Match Result: Athena and Billie Starkz defeated Missa Kate and Lanie Luck

Always nice to see those two, even if it is a squash. Starkz looked a little tired, but I don’t know if that was character work, or jet lag.

Los Depredadores (Magnus, Rugido & Volador Jr.) vs. The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno & John Silver)

I am so happy to see the Dark Order working against a team that isn’t the Frat House! Nothing against those uber-heels, but they’ve been done to death over the last few months and a fresh matchup is very needed.

Reynolds kicked things off against Rugido while Volador and Magnus casually chatted in the corner. The two locked up and Rugido got Reynolds with an arm drag that set him back a step. Reynolds charged Rugido, but Rugido dodged. Reynolds went up top for a crossbody and a two count.

Magnus tagged in a dropped Reynolds with a hard shoulder. But when he turned around, Uno had tagged in and hit a big headscissors. Rugido and Volador jumped in and the three triple teamed Uno, while Reynolds and Silver were… elsewhere?

They put Uno on the top rope and took turns trying to take his mask off, but settled for stomping him in a tree of woe position instead. Uno reversed a bog boot from Magnus into a neckbreaker and tagged in Silver, who burst into the match with a flurry of kicks and energy.

Silver tried a pin, but Volador and Rugido broke it up and sent him to the outside. Reynolds bought some time and Silver came back, setting Magnus up in the corner for some charges from Uno. Reynolds joined them and they went to finish off Magnus, but Volador pulled Silver out of the ring.

Magnus hit a huge butterfly suplex on Uno, followed by a splash from Rugido and Voloador made the pin to get the win, much to Uno’s dismay.

Match Result: Los Depredadores (Magnus, Rugido & Volador Jr.) defeated The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno & John Silver)

Love the luchadores and love the Dark Order. More of each please!

-Backstage QT Marshall cut a promo on Paul Walter Hauser regarding the slowest feud in wrestling history. You see, QT threw a drink on Hauser about 6 months ago which was quite offensive as Hauser is famously sober. Then nothing happened for a long, long time. However, Hauser is apparently still mad about it. So, Marshall invited Hauser to Ring of Honor next week to straighten things out.

El Sky Team (Mascara Dorada & Mistico) vs Blake Christian & Lee Johnson

Christian and Johnson have been moping around ROH for the last few months acting like they are owed something. Thing is, they are both really, really good, but still feel the need to be cheats and all-around jerks. Mascara Dorada and Mistico are killer luchadores so maybe they can be ones to put a smile on the faces of Johnson and Christian?

The crowd gave Mistico a huge ovation as the luchadores made their way to the ring. They didn’t show it, but I’m sure Johnson and Blake were annoyed by it.

Christian started things off against Dorada, feigning a lock up in favor of a punch in the gut. The speed was on then as they both flew around the ring, dodging and wriggling out of each other’s holds. Dorada finally landed a Pele kick and Christian was on the mat.

Mistico tagged in, but Christian wanted none of that and brought in Johnson. Johnson got in Mistico’s face, but Mistico was able to stay out of his hands as he dodged elbows and holds until finally landing a hurricanrana on Johnson. Mistico walked the ropes and nailed a whirlwind armdrag before tagging in Dorada.

Christian joined the fray, but the luchadores sent both Johnson and Christian to the outside. When they climbed back in, they hit stereo back elbows, sending Christian and Johnson back out. Mistico and Dorada dove out after them, nailing both men.

Back in the ring, Johnson hung Dorada up on the ropes. Christian got a blind tag and hit a guillotine legdrop, seinging him to the outside. Christian followed and tossed Dorada into the barricade before sending him back into the ring.

Christian dragged Dorada into the corner where he and Johnson took terms stomping and chopping him. Dorada double backflipped out of trouble, opening up Mistico to enter and hit a springboard elbow on Christian.

Dorada went up top, but missed on the stomp. Christian knocked Mistico out of the ring and then he and Johnson connected to powerbomb Dorada. Johnson tagged Christian back in, climbing the ropes. Dorada climbed up with him and hit a superrana off the top, but Christian landed on his feet!

Dorada seemed stunned and Johnson and Christian beat him down until Mistico arrived and took out both men. All four lay in the ring with only Dorada moving. Dorada got to his feet, but Christian hit a superkick to put him right back down.

Johnson and Christian double teamed Dorada until he sent Christian to the outside and dove over the top rope to take him out. Mistico locked in La Mistica on Johnson in the ring and Johnson had no choice but to tap out.

Match Result: El Sky Team (Mascara Dorada & Mistico) defeat Blake Christian & Lee Johnson

Fun night of wresting and as ROH & AEW head out for a series of international shows, I’m looking forward to seeing who shows up and how crazy the crowds are!

Ring of Honor TV results: Bandido vs. Adam Priest World title match

Ring of Honor World Champion Bandido will put his title on the line against indie standout Adam Priest on tonight’s ROH on HonorClub from Chicago.

The champion will be looking for his fourth successful title defense while Priest has just one all-time career ROH victory.

The Conglomeration’s Tomohiro Ishii & Hologram will take on MxM Collection.

In a pair of men’s Pure Rules bouts, Blake Christian faces the returning Jimmy Jacobs in his first ROH bout since May 2024 while Virus faces Xelhua in a meeting of CMLL talent.

The show is rounded out by Gringo Loco vs. Jon Cruz.

**********

-Ian and Caprice start the show by running down what’s on the show, including Bandido vs Adam Priest for the ROH Title, which is your main event. Ian and Caprice are wearing their invisibility cloaks at ringside for this show.

The Conglomeration (NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Tomohiro Ishii & Hologram) vs. MxM Collection (w/ Johnny TV)

This was a very good opener. I would say all four men are criminally underused, but I couldn’t tell you who they should take off Dynamite and Collision every week to put them on.

We got a picture-in-picture with a MxM, Johnny and Taya commercial selling something called MxM Seed. It looked funny, but Ian and Caprice talked over it.

Ishii and Hologram ran wild on Mansoor early and did a double drop toehold to Mason when he tried to get involved and dropped Mason on top of his partner. MxM got the heat on Ishii when they bullied him into the corner and then TV yanked Hologram off the apron. Hologram got the hot tag and ran wild on MxM. The crowd got into Hologram’s comeback, including backflipping out of the ring and giving TV a headscissors takeover and a Suicide Dive out the other side of the ring to Mason. The expected 4-way broke out and Ishii gave Mason an assisted Brainbuster. Hologram pinned Mansoor with a 450 Splash.

Match Result: The Conglomeration defeated MxM Collection

-We got a video package recapping Athena vs Alex Windsor from Collision last week.

Gringo Loco vs. Jon Cruz

This was a match won by Gringo Loco. There’s nothing else to say about the actual wrestling.

Seeing Cruz coming out makes me want to see Nyla Rose give Serpentico through a table for some reason.

Cruz was upset that the fans cheered for Gringo and not him. It evolved into them standing on the ropes on opposite sides of the ring and trying to cheerlead the crowd. I mean if nothing else, the crowd got into it. There was nothing wrong with their actual wrestling, but it was a lot less newsworthy than them spending several minutes cheerleading the crowd. Loco won with a Split Legged Moonsault.

Of all the matches I’ve ever seen, this was the most recent one.

Match Result: Gringo Loco defeated Jon Cruz

Blake Christian (w/ Lee Johnson) vs. Jimmy Jacobs

This was a good match and the type of match they should be having on ROH where they bring in veterans who can still go, like Jacobs and work with these young guys. Not sure why Jacobs isn’t signed, I imagine he wouldn’t break the bank to do more than come in once a year, like he currently is.

Jacobs was one of the longest lasting ROH wrestlers, with him leaving ROH after Supercard of Honor IX in 2015, but has since come back to do one match a year the last few years. The last time he had an ROH match he had an insane pyro display. Remember that insane WCW Kevin Nash pyro display? This was the AEW version of that. Anyway, when Jacobs came out here, he looked for his pyro and, sadly, he had none.

Jacobs is the kind of guy TK should sign to be the ROH veteran to work with young talent. He still wrestles pretty frequently, even if we only see him once a year. Christian has the talent to be one of those “next generation” guys and hopefully he gets the chance to do so. Jacobs went for Sliced Bread, but Christian got out of it, hit a pair of superkicks and a rolling Spiccoli Driver for a near fall. Christian tapped him with Vanilla Choke Zero. After the match, Christian looked into the camera and challenged Bandido.

Match Result: Blake Christian submitted Jimmy Jacobs

-Paul Walter Hauser was on something called the No Contest Wrestling Podcast and was upset because at the Revolution Zero Hour show in March, QT Marshall threw something alcoholic on him. Paul was mad because he’s been sober for three years and now he wants a match with QT. Not sure why it took Paul 5 months to get upset about this, but here we are.

Xelhua vs. Virus in a Pure Rules match

I don’t watch a lot of ROH on Honor Club, but this was easily the best “modern day” pure match I’d ever seen. This was an excellent grappling match. Nothing you have to go out of your way to see, just a match I’d love to see a rematch of.

Virus began his pro wrestling career two weeks after WrestleMania 2 in 1986. I would like to imagine one had nothing to do with the other, however I cannot prove that. Meanwhile Xelhua is at the other extreme, as he is two years into his career. Xelhua used a double underhook submission that he turned into a pinning attempt. Virus used a reverse Figure Four and Xelhua grabbed the ropes five minutes into the match for his first rope break. Xelhua broke out a Cloverleaf Stretch, which was quite impressive, but Virus got the ropes. Virus used the Vertebreaker and Xelhua half kicked out/half got his foot on the rope, so it counted as a rope break. Virus submitted to the Shoelace submission.

Match Result: Xelhua submitted Virus

-They plugged Dustin Rhodes vs Kyle Fletcher for the TNT Title on Collision, which is happening as I type this. I won’t spoil it for you, mostly because I don’t know what happened. So go check out Jeff Moss’ Collision report.

ROH World Champion Bandido defends against Adam Priest

This was a really good World Title match to cap off a really good episode of Ring of Honor.

Priest came out with The Workhorsemen, but sent them to the back before the match began. Bandido has double duty tonight, as he teams with Brody King to take on GOA in the Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament on Collision. I actually know who won that match, but you should still go read Jeff Moss’ Collision report for more.

The Code of Honor was sort of adhered to, as Priest hit a forearm to Bandido to get the match started after the handshake. Bandido held Priest up for a delayed vertical suplex and even though he is tri-lingual (English, Spanish and Japanese), he let the crowd chant in whatever language they preferred. Priest hit a well timed dropkick to Bandido’s back as he came off the middle rope with a springboard move. The crowd chanted loudly for Bandido, proving that if you give these fans good stuff on ROH, they will react even if they’re there for Dynamite or Collision. Bandido rolled through on a Frog Splash attempt and took a backbreaker from Priest. Bandido had done the Eddie Guerrero shimmy, so Priest went for the Three Amigos, but Bandido reversed the third suplex and hit one of his own. Priest clipped the knee and slapped on a Half Crab, but Bandido got the ropes and then the champ retained with a Frog Splash.

Match Result: ROH World Champion Bandido defeated Adam Priest to retain the championship

Final Thoughts: I don’t watch a lot of ROH on HonorClub. I may have seen six or seven total episodes, including shows I saw live, but this was easily the best HonorClub show I’ve seen. There was nothing to go out of your way to see, but this was an easy hour to watch, it didn’t outstay its welcome and unlike a lot of modern-day wrestling, I was left wanting to see more.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Nick Wayne vs. Gringo Loco

Ring of Honor returns tonight with a new episode on HonorClub from Chicago, headlined by a men’s TV Proving Ground match.

Reigning champion Nick Wayne will take on Gringo Loco where if Loco can defeat Wayne or take him to a draw, Loco earns a future title shot. He is 1-10 all-time in ROH and a loser of seven straight.

The Beast Mortos will take on Serpentico while the popular Outrunners will battle The WorkHorsemen.

The card is rounded out by Trish Adora in action while Blake Christian & Lee Johnson take on David Ali & Isaiah Moore.

**********

On a complicated day in the Wrestling World, Ring of Honor is here to bring us some hard hitting matchups for episode 126 of ROH on Honorclub!

The Workhorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake) vs The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

Both of these teams haven’t been around ROH much in the last few months. The 5-0 Outrunners have been all over AEW and the Workhorsemen have been… working? I guess. Any way, a series of injuries put them on the shelf, so it’s good to see them back. One does have to wonder though, where is the BEEF?

Henry kicked off a Code of Honor from Magnum and the two locked up. Henry hit a big slam but missed an elbow giving Magnum the chance to show off his strength and toss Henry around the ring. Drake tagged in and called out “the old one” Turbo Floyd. Magnum shrugged and tagged him in.

Something of a posedown occurred, but if you’ve ever seen JD Drake you know it wasn’t much of one. Floyd tried to pick Drake up but it was too much for him. Magnum hopped back in with a dropkick, but the bigger Bigger Man, Drake chopped him into the corner. Magnum chopped back and the Outrunners double teamed The Workhorsemen with some tandem punches in the corner.

Henry slid out of the ring and Magnum followed, but was met by a bear hug from Drake. Drake pounded him against the barricade and then tossed him back in the ring. Drake was legal (I guess?) and worked Magnum over until Henry tagged in for a double team, including a senton from Drake.

Drake went up to the second rope for a Drakebomb, but Magnum dodged it. Before he could get to Floyd though, Henry tagged in and cut him off. Magnum countered a suplex and got a hot tag to Floyd. Unfortunatley, the Ref was distracted by Drake and didn’t see the tag. Magnum fought back against Henry and got a second hot tag to Floyd.

Floyd cleaned house, spamming body slams on Henry until Drake clubbed him to a stop. Floyd finally got Drake up for a bodyslam and he and Magnum hit their double elbow. Magnum scooped up Henry and the Outrunners slammed him to get the pin and victory.

Match Result: The Outrunners defeated The Workhorsemen

To start, I love both these teams. But if someone had to win (and someone did) then I’m glad it was the Outrunners. They got the crowd hot and happening and while the Workhorsemen were solid in their return, I was happy with the outcome.

The Beast Mortos vs Serpentico

This match was pretty much made AT me. Beast Mortos? Good! Serpentico? Good! Beast Mortos AND Serpentico? GRRRREAT!! Mortos hasn’t been around ROH much while Serpentico is an ROH mainstay. I cannot stress how into this match I am. Also? Mortos is in great shape!

Mortos charged off the bell and ran right over Serpentico. Serpentico tripped him off the ropes though and followed through with a big elbow. That just mad Mortos mad though and he threw Serpentico into the corner. Serpentico tried a high kick and leap from the top rope, but Mortos dodged it and sent Serpentico reeling with stiff forearms.

Mortos hit a spinning heel kick and started powering up. He hoisted Serpentico over his head, but Serpentico dropped out of it and stepped aside to avoid a charge from Mortos. Mortos went through the ropes to the outside and Serpentico followed, but Mortos caught him, tossing him back in the ring.

Serpentico hit a baseball slide and set up a dive, but Mortos hopped back into the ring a stopped him cold. Mortos went for a chokeslam, but Serpentico wiggled into a flatliner. Mortos hit a spinning backbreaker followed but a spinning lariat into a piledriver and that was too much for Serpentico. 1,2,3 and Mortos wins.

Match Result: The Beast Mortos defeated Serpentico

What a fun match! Serpentico had a plan and it was to run circles around Mortos. Mortos countered by hitting him. very, very hard. What was great though, was at no time was it a squash. More like this please and thanks, ROH!

-Backstage, the Dark Order cut a promo saying that they are going to make a promise; They are going to show up, kick ass and leave. Over and over. Because Dark Order is forever.

Blake Christian and Lee Johnson vs David Ali & Isaiah Moore

Christian and Johnson have attitude to spare and are looking for someone to take it out on. Aside from Christian’s new(ish) haircut things haven’t been going great for these guys since they paired up, so this match would be a good chance for them to start building towards a shot at some gold.

Johnson started things off against Moore and it was a really impressive exchange. We know Johnson has the goods, but Moore kept pace with him. Christian tagged in just in time for Johnson to leap over the top rope and take out Ali.

Christian slowed things down with a chinlock, raking the eyes of Moore. He hit a series of stiff elbows to the back but Moore was able to make a tag to Ali. Ali came out swinging but Christian suplexed him into next week. Johnson made a quick tag and the two double teamed Ali with huge speed.

Johnson put Ali up on his shoulders and Christian double stomped him to the mat. That was about it for the challengers and Johnson made the pin and picked up the victory.

Match Result: Blake Christian and Lee Johnson defeated David Ali & Isaiah Moore

Remember a year and a half ago when Johnson was the number one contender for the TV Championship and went on a big win streak? That was a long time ago. His run with EJ Nduka was lukewarm, so it’s nice to see him starting to regain the intensity that he had back then.

Trish Adora vs Aleah James

Adora has been making waves in ROH since joining up with Shane Taylor Promotions. James is in her second ROH match. Now, let’s fight.

Adore had a definite size advantage on James, but James’ quickness was not to be underestimated. Adora locked in a tight armbar, but James flipped out of it. Unfortunately, Adora caught her in midair and threw her into the corner.

James tried her best, but Adora easily hit a backbreaker and kicked her while she was down. Adora continued working the arm until getting bored and hoisting James up in a submission hold before slamming her on the mat face first.

Adora tried a casual pin, but James kicked out, infurating Adora. She began kicking and stomping a dazed James, finishing with a split submission hold that folded James in half. Adora dragged her around the ring, pulling James to her feet. James hit a headscissor into the corner followed by a bulldog.

Adora followed up with a huge kick to take control again, landing a big right across James’ jaw. That put her out and Adore picked up the pin and victory.

Match Result: Trish Adora defeated Aleah James

Strong outing for Adora! Joining STP has been good for her and James worked well too. For a match with no stakes, it was pretty good!

-Backstage, the Premier Athletes cut a promo about how they are still mad at the Sons of Texas for kicking Mark Sterling in the junk. So watch out for them. And stuff.

Proving Ground Match: Roh World TV Champion Nick Wayne vs Gringo Loco

Nick Wayne. Oh, Nick Wayne. Recently “uncaged” from his patriarchal, uh, cage, Wayne is giving a potential title shot to the very large and scary Gringo Loco. Loco has the ability to move like Wayne, but with a big size difference. Wayne seems to understand how Proving ground matches work now, so this should be interesting to say the least.

Mother Wayne and Kip Sabian stalked around the ring as the match kicked off. Wayne locked up with Loco who sent him flying with an arm drag. Wayne seemed to take Loco more seriously after that, pounding on him in the corner.

Loco caught Wayne in a charge and military pressed him. He followed that with a senton for a two-count. Wayne bailed from the ring and hid behind Mother, throwing Loco off. Wayne threw him into the steel steps and then back into the ring for some fast punches.

Not concerned with time ticking away, Wayne put on a chinlock. Loco fought out of it an knocked Wayne over with a dropkick. The two struggled to their feet with Loco hitting a pair of lariats. Loco hit a modified Lethal Injection, but only got a two-count. With time ticking away (ROH, put it on the screen!) Loco went up top for a moonsault, but Wayne was able to get out from underneath him.

Wayne hit a Killswitch of all things and put Loco down for good.

Match Result: Nick Wayne defeated Gringo Loco

I like Nick Wayne as the ROH TV Champion, and Loco is fantastic, but they need to make these Proving Ground matches a little more exciting. Put a timer on the screen. Add in a few smaller rules like the Pure division. Those are free ideas, ROH! Lets see if they hear me next week!

Ring of Honor TV live results: Michael Oku vs. Jay Lethal

After appearing at Supercard of Honor last Friday, UK standout Michael Oku returns for another Ring of Honor match on tonight’s HonorClub show.

Oku will take on former ROH World Champion Jay Lethal for the first time ever.

Former ROH TV Champion Atlantis Jr. will go one-on-one with Lee Johnson while another CMLL star — Hechicero — will battle Angelico.

Diamante will take on Maya World to round out the card from Garland, Texas.

**********

Without even a moment to breathe after Supercard of Honor, it’s time for the 125th episode of Ring of Honor on Honorclub! (ok, there were six days to breathe, but you get me.)

Atlantis Jr. vs Lee Johnson (w/Blake Christian)

Blake Christian debuted a stylish new haircut on the Supercard of Honor Zero Hour show, but it was Johnson who had a bad night, losing out on $50,000 in a four-way loss to AR Fox. Atlantis Jr. wasn’t on the Supercard, er, card, but he did pick up a win teaming with his Dad over SAP last week. Also, far superior coat to Johnson.

The two locked up and Johnson immediately started trying to shift the match of Atlantis, causing enough confusion to get a hammerlock on the luchadore. The speed picked up from there with Atlantis delivering a flying head scissor that sent Johnson out of the ring. Atlantis followed with a dive.

Back in the ring, Johnson couldn’t seem to get any momentum on his side until Christian interfered and laid out Atlantis with a very fast, very sneaky dropkick in the corner. That allowed Johnson to take control, trying multiple pinning attempts and settling on a head lock.

Atlantis battled back though, hitting Johnson with a high knee. Christian got up on the ring apron (the uppest part of the ring!) to try and cause a distraction but Atlantis saw it and dispatched he and Johnson, maintaining the upper hand.

Atlantis went up top for a frog splash, but Johnson dodged it and followed up with a Spiccoli driver. Johnson set up Atlantis for a powerbomb, but Atlantis reversed it into a German Suplex, which Johnson reversed into some clubbing strikes. Atlantis then hit a Mexican Destroyer followed by a Frog Splash to get the pin and the victory.

Match Result: Atlantis Jr. defeated Lee Johnson

Decent bout for the two, but I’m surprised by Johnson. He was once on fire in ROH, but las slowed down considerably. With such a thick tag division in ROH, I don’t know if sticking him with Christian is how to make either man stand out, but time will tell!

-Next, ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty cut a promo from backstage at Supercard. He promised that he would take the Pure title to the top and everyone better watch out.

Diamante vs Maya World

Diamante is on a bit of a roll in ROH, having returned from injury in March. She’s teamed with Athena in a winning tag match and beat Lady Frost on the Supercard Zero Hour preshow. Maya World’s last ROH match was almost exactly one full year ago, when she lost to Robyn Renegade. World is holding her own though as a QUADRUPLE champion, holding the DFW All-Pro Tag Team Championship (with Alejandra Quintanilla), the VIP Women’s Championship, the HOT Women’s Championship and the Inspire Pro Pure Prestige Championship. So no matter what happens here, she’s doing OK.

World had a biut of a size advantage over Diamante, but anyone who’s ever seen Diamante in the ring knows that size means nothing to her. She started off bringing World to her knees with some hard clubbing strikes.

Diamante hit world with a flying head scissor and was in complete control early on. Diamante raked World’s face along the ropes and chopped her in the corner. World dodged the next one though and set Diamante up for a powerbomb. Diamante got out of it though and hit a Code Red. That was in for World and Diamante got the pin.

Match Result: Diamante defeated Maya World

Fun if not fast match. Diamante is a really mean wrestler and really fun to watch. I kinda wish she’d drop the gunshots from her music, but that’s just me.

-Next, the MxM Collection aired a commercial for their new scent, “Seed.” It was as gross as you can imagine.

-Then, Athena cut a promo about how she’s going to be AEW Women’s world champion. Cool. Following that, a retrospective of Dustin Rhodes’ time in AEW/ROH culminating with his TNT title win at All In. Rhodes was interviewed from All In and said that it meant everything to him and his family to win the TNT title in Texas.

Jay Lethal vs Michael Oku (w/Amira)

A delightful surprise of the Supercard of Honor Zero Hour pre show was Lethal taking on Blake Christian in a really fun bout. He lost that match, but he’s ready to take on someone else who lost at Supercard in Oku (who lost to Hechicero).

The two locked up with Oku getting a headlock on first. From there, Oku’s speed was on full display as he flipped and wigged around Lethal. Lethal looked stunned as he stood up, clearly having underestimated Oku.

Lethal then offered Oku a free shot and Oku decked him. Lethal returned the shot, but clearly his punches were a little more devastating that Oku. Oku wasn’t done though and he laid another punch on Lethal that sparked a suplex from the bigger man.

Lethal set up a Lethal Injection, but Oku was able to get out of the way and planted a superkick on Lethal’s head that had him crumpling to the mat. Oku grabbed Lethal’s ankle, but took a little too long and Lethal got out of the way.

Lethal locked in a figure four and both men rolled all the way out of the ring, still in the hold. Both climbed up onto the ring apron and Oku back body dropped Lethal back to the floor. Oku in the ring got the crowd going and hit a big backflip onto Lethal on the outside.

Oku tossed Lethal back in and tried for a dropkick in the corner, but Lethal got out of it and leapt from the top ro[e with and elbow. Oku caught him and tried for a pin, but Lethal hit a series of cutters followed by a Lethal Injection to take the victory.

Match result: Jay Lethal defeated Michael Oku

I’ve grown to like this iteration of Jay Lethal a lot. The Lethal Injection is a great move and Lethal plays that veteran role really well, shaking hands with Oku after the match. Oku is a star waiting to break out and I’m hoping we see more of him in ROH.

-Next, footage was shown of The Frat House drinking. They lost to the Dark Order at Supercard and decided to find a bar in Texas (there are one or two apparently) because win or lose, they booze. (gross).

Hechicero (w/Rocky Romero) vs Angelico (w/Serpentico)

But enough about the bummer Frat House. You know who’s great? Hechicero. You know who else is great? Angelico. Only one of them beat Micheal Oku at Supercard of Honor though! You can find out which one here. No matter what, Angelico in a rare singles bout against a former CMLL World Champion is an excellent Main Event to kick off post-Supercard ROH. Also, Hechicero has called his shot against Bandido for the ROH World Title. I am very much looking forward to that.

Any way, Hechicero wanted no part of the code of honor and Angelico managed to avoid locking up with Hechicero off the top. Angelico did get a wrist lock on but Hechicero rolled through and into a hammer lock. Angelico got out of it via rope break.

The match progressed slowly, which was strange for Hechicero, but Angelico worked the timing, slithering in and out of holds and keeping up when the speed was taken up a notch. These guys both have similar styles, but were trained to use it in different ways.

Hechicero grabbed Angelico and hung him up on the ropes. That gave Romero a chance to get a shot in and Hechicero laid out Angelico in the corner. Hechicero ended up on the ring apron and Angelico charged, but Hechicero caught his foot and wracked the knee over the rope.

Serpentico began banging on the ring apron (the most serpentine part of the ring!) while Angelico staggerd to his feet. Hechicero was hit with a flurry of kicks and knees as Angelico wormed and dodged is way around Hechicero.

Angelico hit a jumping flatliner, but it only got a two count. He wrapped Hechiero’s legs up for a grapevine, but Romero caused a distraction and Hechicero used it to hit a spinning, spinning, spinning backbreaker, and get the 1-2-3 on Angelico.

Match Result: Hechicero defeated Angelico

After the match Romero and Hechicero started a beatdown of SAP, but before it could go on too long, Hologram appeared and cleared the ring to make the save.

Good match, Hechicero is a great heel. I was a little surprised at how loose Angelico was, but the introduction of Hologram was a great move. Hechicero is up next to face Bandido and seeing him heel it up against the champ will be awesome. Also, I am beginning to suspect that under that mask, Hechicero is actor Emilio Rivera. I could be wrong, but I hope I’m not.

ROH Supercard of Honor live results: Bandido vs. Konosuke Takeshita

Ring of Honor kicks off a busy weekend in pro wrestling with tonight’s Supercard of Honor from the Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

In the headliner, ROH World Champion Bandido defends against former AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita. The two have shared the ring frequently this, but this will be their first singles match since June 2023.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will look to keep her 944-day reign going as she defends against former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa.

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty will defend against the legendary Blue Panther of CMLL fame.

ROH Tag Team Champions The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) will defend against The Infantry’s Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo).

ROH Men’s TV Champion Nick Wayne will defend against CMLL’s Titan while an interim Women’s TV Champion will be crowned with two yet-to be-named competitors.

Rounding out the show is Dark Order vs. The Frat House in a trios bout.

**********

Here we go folks! The event Ring of Honor has spent hours building towards is finally upon us! Supercard of Honor kicks off with a Zero Hour, featuring a couple of fun matches, lots of video recaps and who knows what else!

Zero Hour: Blake Christian vs Jay Lethal

See what I mean? No one knew that Christian and Lethal were going to kick things off! Chaos Theory!

And kick they did, with Christian getting the drop on Lethal off the top and doing a little strutting. Lethal went for a dive at Christian, but he dodged it and Lethal few out of the ring, colliding with Lee Johnson who had followed Christian to ringside.

Christian’s swagger was on full display as every time Lethal tried to pull something out of his bag of tricks, Christian was there and ready to counter. Christian also has a tight new haircut, which deserved to be noted.

Christian was the clear standout of the match, at one point doing a strut along the top rope, hitting a running Spanish Fly and even attempting a Lethal Injection on Lethal. For his part, Lethal worked Christian’s knee and brought his strength, looking like he has everything planned, even when it went awry.

In the end, Christian locked in a Vanilla Choke Zero out of a moonwalk, forcing Lethal to tap out.

Match Result: Blake Christian defeated Jay Lethal

I’ll say this: these guys had the loudest superkicks I’ve ever heard. They both showed off what makes them great though, so fun match to start off the night!

Zero Hour: The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, John Silver, Evil Uno) vs. The Frat House (Griff Garrison, Preston Vance, Cole Karter) w/Jakked Jameson and The Pledges

So the Frat House and the Dark Order hate each other. Be it because of Preston Vance’s time in both groups, or the eternal struggle between geeks and jocks, these groups are destined to fight forever. A couple of weeks ago, the Dark Order stiffed the Frat House on a bar bill and on last week’s ROH on Honorclub, the Dark Order dispatched a few unnamed pledges before announcing that this match was on for Supercard. Or Zero Hour, as it were.

Blake Christian’s haircut stopped being the story of the night as soon as a SHIRTLESS Evil Uno appeared on the ramp. Immediately, a brawl broke out with the Frat House sending their pledges up to get the Order. The Order quickly dispatched the pledges and turned their fury to the Frat House Proper.

The crowed chanted “Frat House Sucks!” as the match formally got underway with Karter isolating Reynolds in the Frat Corner. He and Garrison tagged in and out, double teaming him. The thing about these matches is that the Frat House cheats so much, its hard to tell what’s going on as there’s always someone grabbing an ankle or getting a cheap shot in.

Reynolds tried for a hot tag about a dozen times, but Garrison and Karter blocked him. When he finally got one to Uno, he exploded into the ring, taking out Karter and Garrison with huge chops in the corner and a double DDT to boot. Vance got involved then and triple teamed Uno with Garrison and Karter. It got a two count.

Uno battled back caught Garrison’s foot in a kick attempt. He passed the foot to the ref and then delivered a neckbreaker to Garrison. Silver tagged in and showed zero ring rust in his first match in months. He single handedly took out all of the Frat House, leaving Garrison prone for a triple team and would have been a three-count, but Jameson pulled the ref out.

While Jameson was arguing with the Ref, Vance brought in the pledge paddle and knocked out all of the order. Suddenly, Dark Order music played and who should arrive? Negative Uno! Vance was distracted and the Dark Order spammed finishers on him, ending with a huge clothesline from Uno (the Evil one). That got the pin and the win for the Dark Order.

Match Result: The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, John Silver, Evil Uno) defeated The Frat House (Griff Garrison, Preston Vance, Cole Karter)

A lot of fun with a great callback bringing in Negative Uno. The Dark Order should be in line for a Trios title shot sometime soon.

-Suddenly, MxMxTV arrived at the top of the ramp. Taya Valkyrie grabbed a mic and said that they had a “life changing” announcement. That turned out to be a new scent from MxMxTV called, inappropriately enough, “SEED.” So, that happened.

Zero Hour: Diamante vs. Lady Frost

Hey! Look! It’s Diamante and Lady Frost! I like them when they wrestle, so let’s watch them wrestle.

Lady Frost came our in fire-themed gear, which was a little confusing. Diamante made her way to the ring in terrifying fashion, eyes narrow and jaw clenched. Code of Honor was adhered to and then the punching began. Two very hard hitters, hitting very hard.

Diamante took the lead, slamming Frost into the corner and stomping her. She didn’t let up from there, throwing Frost from post to post, not letting her get to her feet. Frost tried to turn the tables with a sneaky dropkick, but Diamante saw it coming and avoided it.

Frost managed to get a twisting crossbody in and that slowed the pace down a bit. She tried to hoist Diamante up, but her core (?) gave out and Frost sank to her knees, giving Diamante the opening to regain control.

Diamante hit a twisting DDT on Frost from the top rope and that was in. 1-2-3, Diamante gets the win.

Match Result: Diamante defeated Lady Frost

Nice to see Diamante back in the ring. She and Frost put on a great, if one-sided affair.

Zero Hour: The Von Erichs (Marshall and Ross) vs The Premier Athletes (Aira Daivari and Tony Nese) w/Mark Sterling

The final (I assume) match of the Zero Hour pre-show featured the OTHER sons of Texas, the Von Erichs taking on The Premier Athletes. Guess who the crowd was cheering for?

Marshall and Nese kicked things off with Marshall getting the better of the smaller Nese. A quick tag to Ross and the brothers double teamed Nese until the Ref broke it up. Daivari came in and Ross locked him up in a headlock, until Nese returned on a blind tag.

The two teams fought back and forth, neither one getting the upper hand for long. The Von Erichs were able to match the Athletes step for step and even Sterling’s interference didn’t really change the momentum much.

Daivari tried to hit a Carpet Ride from the top rope, but Ross dodged it and got a hot tag to Marshall who cleaned house. The Athletes fought back and Daivari grabbed an actual carpet to nail Marshall with a second Carpet Ride.

In the end, Marshall hit Nese with a pop up spinebuster followed by a moonsault. Sterling tried to get involved, but Ross cut him off and Marshall pinned Nese to get the victory.

Match Result: The Von Erichs (Marshall and Ross) defeated The Premier Athletes (Aira Daivari and Tony Nese)

After the match, The Infantry and STP trash talked us into the beginning of Supercard of Honor 2025!

Hechicero vs. Michael Oku

Kicking things off was a match that was announced just hours before showtime. Former CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Hechicero takes on current RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion Oku in a match that I guess Tony Khan really wanted to see. I mean, I do too, but there’s no story here. Just good ol’ fashioned wrasslin’.

Hechicero seemed to have the strength advantage, but Oku’s speed and agility offset any upper hand. Oku managed to overpower Hechicero at times, but it was Oku’s spaghetti limbs that were the real issue. Every time Hechicero put Oku down, Oku would wrap him up in a submission.

Hechicero at one point threw Oku into the air and then caught him in a chinlock, flipping him over into a shoulder-breaker. Oku looked hurt but Hechicero would not let up, hitting a spinning backbreaker. Oku kept his head above water with some high dropkicks and maneuvers that seemed to hurt his back more than they did Hechicero.

Oku finally got some momentum on his side, laying out Hechicero with some brutal forearms. Oku dropkicked Hechicero to the outside and backflipped over the top rope onto him. He threw Hechicero back into the ring and hit a big splash, but it only got a two count.

Oku tried a springboard from the top rope, but Hechicero got his knees up and locked in an armbar. Oku reversed it and put Hechicero into Boston Crab, forcing him to grab the ropes. The two rolled around on the mat until Hechicero got an ankle lock on Oku. He followed that up with a flying headscissor and that was it, Hechicero gets the pin.

Match Result: Hechicero defeated Michael Oku

Great opener! Fast and exciting. Ring of Honor rarely lacks in the in-ring action portion of wrestling and this was a picture perfect example of skill level on their roster.

$50k four-way: Atlantis Jr. vs. Lee Johnson vs. Adam Priest vs. AR Fox

How come I was never offered $50k to recap matches against three other writers? I think that would be high-level entertainment. Any ways, in this “someone gets a bonus” match Atlantis Jr, fresh off teaming with his Dad on ROH on Honorclub takes on another victor from last night’s episode in Priest (he beat Aaron Solo). Rounding out the field are Johnson and Fox. Fox has been looking good in recent weeks and when we last saw Johnson, he was casually strolling to the ring to distract Bandido so Blake Christian could attack him. Christian also accompanied Johnson to the ring here, mainly to show off the previously mentioned haircut.

The bell rang and Priest took it to everyone. Fox fought back and he and Priest toussled on the outside while Atlantis and Johnson went at it in the ring. Fox could have a five star match with a bucket of water, so putting him in the ring with someone as good as Atlantis is a sure-fire road to an excellent match.

All four men ended up on the outside and Fox ran UP the ring post to flip onto Priest. They battled inside the ring until Atlantis joined them, followed by Johnson (though, Coleman kept calling him Lee Moriarty). Atlantis then hit a slingblade DDT on Priest with an assist from Johnson.

Priest poked the eyes of Johnson, but then Atlantis took him out with a big dive. Fox popped back up in time to get thrown to the outside by Johnson who dragged him back into the ring. Fox kicked him in the head for his trouble and all four brawled in the ring.

No one had time to recover from anything in this match. As soon as they got a big move in on one competitor, another was right there with a big move of their own. There also were virtually no alliances or team ups as you sometimes see in these matches. Each man was in it for themselves.

Johnson got the first near fall and Priest nearly stole the match, attempting to pin Fox after splashes from Atlantis and Johnson in succession.

To wrap it up, Fox hit an around the world slam on Priest and managed to sit on him to get the pin and the $50k!

Match Result: AR Fox defeated Atlantis Jr, Lee Johnson and Adam Priest

Really fast-paced match that had absolutely no breathing room for the audience! Everyone got a chance to shine and I’m really liking Adam Priest these days. It was great to see AR Fox get the win though. He’s such a workhorse and I really hope the $50K wasn’t just a gimmick. He deserves a raise!

ROH Pure Title Match: Lee Moriarty (c) vs. Blue Panther

Another match from the fallout of ROH Global Wars Mexico. Moriarty fanboyed out at taking on Blue Panther, but a post-match schmozz with the rest of Shane Taylor Promotions led to a Brian Danielson cameo and the re-match here. I feel the need to once again point out that Panther’s career started in 1978 (we think), which is two years before I was even born.

So to sum up the Pure Rules: three rope breaks, no closed fists (one warning), no outside interference, the title can change hands on a countout. It was also mentioned that this is Moriarty’s 350th day as champ, tying Nigel McGuinness with the longest Pure Title reign.

The two locked up off the top and immediately went to wrist and ankle holds. Panther tried to get Moriarty up in a Surfboard, but Moriarty wiggled free. Panther was on him before he could lock in a hold though.

Panther whipped Moriarty into the corner, but he bounced back. Panther hit him with a Palanka hold, forcing Moriarty to use his first rope break at 2:32. Moriarty responded with a series of ankle twists, but Panther didn’t bit and manged to get Moriarty up on his shoulders for an attempted Gory Special. Moriarty fought out of it though and put Panther in an abdominal stretch.

Moriarty then turned up the speed and wrapped up Panther, forcing him to use his first rope break at 5:02. They reset here and Moriarty put a headlock on Panther. He then punched him in the face, getting a warning for a closed fist.

Panther used the moment to lock in a figure four, but at 6:26, Moriarty used his second rope break to break the hold. From here the chops flew, with both men exchanging hard blows, Panther getting the upper hand with a big lariat.

Moriarty hit a springboard forearm and then wrapped Panther in a wrenching top wristlock. At 8:18, Panther made it to the ropes and used his second rope break. Panther stepped outside for a breather and Moriarty dove on him through the ropes, twice.

Panther got back into the ring and Moriarty put an Octopus hold on him in the middle of the ring, followed by a Border City Stretch. Panther would not tap out thoughand writhed his way to the ropes to use his final rope break at 10:25.

Panther got his second wind and delivered a string of clotheslines to Moriarty. Panther then dove onto him on the outside. Tossing Moriarty back in the ring, Panther bonked Moriarty’s head off the turnbuckle, but took too long to climb the post. Moriarty superplexed Panther into the middle of the ring, but only a two count.

Moriarty put Panther in an ankle lock. Panther grabbed the ropes, but his breaks were exhausted. Moriarty transitioned into a Border City Stretch and that was it. Panther tapped out and Moriarty becomes the longest-reigning Pure Champion of all time.

Match Result: Lee Moriarty (c) defeated Blue Panther

I love the Pure division and this match was why. Both competitors fought hard and the outcome wasn’t a foregone conclusion. Panther kept up with the MUCH younger Moriarty and it was a great match from bell to bell.

ROH World Tag Team Title Match: The Sons Of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) (c) vs. The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean)

In spite of a myriad of deserving teams in ROH, a couple weeks ago on Ring of Honor on Honorclub, The Infantry beat Top Flight to become the #1 contender to the tag team titles. Rhodes and Guevara, the Sons of Texas, have held the titles for almost a full year, so it will be interesting to see if they survive the Infantry, or if this is the beginning of Shane Taylor Promotions collecting all the gold in ROH.

In a turn, Rhodes and Guevara jumped the Infantry off the bell. Rhodes and Guevara set up Dean and Bravo in the corners for some Shattered Dreams, but Trish Adora got in the middle allowing Bravo to get the drop on Rhodes. Guevara sent Dean and Bravo to the outside where he and Rhodes did a double dive on them then danced in the ring. Like you do.

Guevara and Bravo battled in the ring as the match settled down. Bravo distracted the Ref, allowing Dean to smash Guevara onto the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!). Bravo followed it up with a high knee and the Infantry double teamed Guevara on the outside, driving him face-first into the post.

That was enough for Rhodes who stalked around the corner but was stopped by the ref for some reason. Bravo sent Guevara back into the ring and he and Dean tagged in and out, beating on an isolated Guevara.

Guevara finally got the hottest of tags to Rhodes who leapt in, but the ref didn’t see it. Guevara was returned to the ring to continue receiving a beating from the Infantry. Eventually, Bravo telegraphed a move and Guevara knocked him down, getting a real tag to Rhodes.

Rhodes cleaned house, playing all his greatest hits for the crowd. Grabbing Dean, he hit a CrossRhodes, but Bravo broke up the pin. Guevara took Bravo to the outside while Rhodes set up Dean in the corner for some Shattered Dreams.

Suddenly, Shane Taylor appeared and hit Rhodes with a title belt behind the refs back, knocking him cold. Guevara took out Taylor, but Dean rolled over Rhodes for a cover. 1-2-and Guevara broke it up!

Dean sent Rhodes to the ropes, but Rhodes came back with a Texas Destroyer. Bravo and Guevara got tags and Guevara hit a springboard cutter on Bravo. Dean caught a superkick and Rhodes hit him with a suplex. Guevara hit a moonsault from the top rope and got the pin to retain the titles for the Sons of Texas!

Match Result: The Sons Of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) (c) defeated The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean)

After the match, Shane Taylor jumped in and he and the Infantry beat down Rhodes and Guevara. Moriarty joined them and so did Anthony Agogo! Agogo was winding up to punch Rhodes’ lights out, when the Von Erichs arrived with chairs to clear the ring.

Rhodes grabbed a mic and challenged STP to a “shootout” at All In tomorrow. No idea what that means, but Tony Khan made it official within seconds: Guevara, Rhodes and the Von Erichs vs Shane Taylor Promotions at All In.

Fantastic match from 4 guys at the top of their game. My plans for an STP take over were derailed, but I loved the match. I wish they were doing the bigger match on ROH tv, but it’ll be great none the less.

ROH World Television Title Match: Nick Wayne (c) vs. Titan

At ROH Global Wars Mexico a couple of weeks ago, Titan managed to last to a ten-minute draw in a Proving Ground match against Wayne. Though it kinda didn’t seem like either one of them knew the rules. Titan holds a win over Wayne in Japan so we’ll see if he can take a belt from him in this, their third meeting.

Titan offered his hand for a Code of Honor, but Wayne flipped him off instead. That brought Titan out swinging with a big dropkick off the bell. Wayne returned the favour though with some hard strikes. He then wrenched Titan’s knee through the ropes, sending him to the outside.

Wayne whipped Titan into the barricades then posed. Titan got to his feet, but limped back into the ring. Wayne went to work on Titan’s knee, hitting it with stomps and elbows. Titan grabbed a rope to escape and lay on the mat clutching his knee.

Wayne then tried to take off Titan’s mask, which infuriated the crowd. Wayne mugged for them, while Titan struggled to recover. Wayne locked in a figure four but Titan found a rope to break the hold. Wayne returned to Titan’s knee, hyper extending it.

Titan found some energy though and fought Wayne to the outside. He dove through the ropes, knocking Wayne over, but wrenching his knee even more. Wayne made his way back into the ring and the two fought on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!) until Titan fed Wayne a superkick.

Titan hit a double stomp from the top rope onto Wayne, but hurting his knee even more in the process. He yelled in pain and hopped around on one foot, trying to recover.

Back in the ring, Wayne locked in a figure four in the center of the ring as Titan howled in pain. Wayne wrenched harder and harder, but Titan found a rope to break the hold.

The two started trading chops in the center of the ring and managed to knock each other down with simultaneous kicks. Titan exploded out of the corner though and delivered a springboard DDT to daze Wayne. Titan tried a third double stomp from the top rope, but during the pin Mother Wayne put her son’s foot on the ropes. The ref ejected her from ringside as a result.

Titan grabbed Wayne a locked in a bridged grapevine and straightjacket. Wayne fought towards the ropes, finally grabbing one, forcing Titan to release him. Titan went up to the top turnbuckle, but Wayne knocked him down. The two traded forearms at the ringpost until Titan gave Wayne a headbutt sending him into the ring. Titan stood up and suddenly Kip Sabian arrived and pulled Titan down.

Wayne popped up and hit a Waynes World, but Titan kicked out! Wayne followed up with a brain buster and that was too much. Titan was out and Wayne got the pin to retain the ROH Television Title.

Match Result: Nick Wayne (c) defeated Titan

After the match, who should come down to the ring? Proud Papa Christian! He gave his son a big hug in the ring and the Patriarchy celebrated.

Hot damn! Either Titan blew out his knee, or he did a masterful job selling Wayne’s offense. Wayne for his part wrestled a perfect match, using his opponent’s weakness against him. Hell of a match.

-Backstage, ROH Women’s Television Champion Red Velvet was interviewed. She expressed her frustration at being injured and said that she would be coming for the “interim” Champion when she was cleared. Also that she would be watching the 4-way match from ringside.

Worldwide Wild Card four-way for interim ROH Women’s TV Championship: Persephone vs. Mina Shirakawa vs. Miyu Yamashita vs. Yuka Sakazaki

Just shy of a year into her reign as ROH Women’s TV Champion, Red Velvet has apparently suffered an injury that prevents her from competing at Supercard. Instead of stripping her of the belt, the Powers That Be have decided to crown an interim Champion until Velvet can return. The four women in this match are each a viable contender, but Persephone and Shirakawa are the definite standouts.

Off the top, the Joshi girls all exchanged Codes of Honor, but Persephone was having none of it. Persephone stepped out of the ring as the bell rang, happy to let her opponents wear themselves down. Persephone was giving off a new, more heelish vibe.

Sakazake sent Yamashita out of the ring, which brought Persephone back into it. She took out Sakazake and Shirakawa and Persephone went at it with a series of rolls and holds. Persephone used her size advantage to send Shirakawa into the corner as Sakazaki returned. Yamashita followed suit and Shirakawa was tossed to the outside.

As the four battled on the outside, Persephone took down Shirakawa and Yamashita. That allowed Sakazaki to hit her with a headscissors and then drag Yamashita into the ring for a pin attempt. Sakazake and Yamashita battled in the ring, trading kicks and holds until they were both knocked to the mat.

Shirakawa climbed back in to try and steal a pin, but it was nothing but two counts all around. Sakazaki and Yamashita then double teamed her until Shirakawa delivered a kneebreaker and a DDT at the same time!

As they rolled out, Persephone rejoined the fray, slamming Shirakawa and going for a cocky cover. Persephone began overpowering Shirakawa who managed to stop her in her tracks with a slingblade. Shirakawa climbed up top and hit another slingblade from the top rope. Only a two count though.

Persephone began punching Shirakawa, leaving herself open for Yamashita to kick her in the face. Yamashita and Persephone fought, bringing some strong style to the match. Yamashita peppered her with kicks and strikes before slamming her, but Shirakawa broke up the cover.

Sakazaki hit a hammerlock slam on Yamashita and Shirakawa locked a figure four on Yamashita. Sakazaki hit a Magic Girl Splash on Yamashita, breaking up the hold. Then she got caught by Persephone on the ring apron (the joshiest part of the ring!).

In the ring, Shirakawa hit a dragon screw on Yamashita and then a bridged figure four. Yamashita had no choice but to tap, giving the victory and the Interim ROH Women’s TV Title to Shirakawa!

Match Result: Mina Shirakawa defeated Persephone, Miyu Yamashita and Yuka Sakazaki

Well, that was a delight! I knew of Persephone’s ability, but the real standout in the match for me was Sakazaki. Super fun if not a little hard to follow at times.

ROH Women’s World Title Match: Athena (c) vs. Thunder Rosa

Athena has been ROH Women’s World Champion for 944 days as of Supercard of Honor. She has blown through (or cheated her way through) every opponent that’s come her way in ROH, Japan, AEW and beyond. Tonight, it’s Thunder Rosa’s turn and even though Rosa is a former AEW Women’s Champion, I think she’ll be hard pressed to walk away with a title tonight.

Athena came to the ring with perpetual Minion-In-Training Billie Starkz. Rosa came to the ring in a big coat.

The match kicked off with a staredown. The crowd was hot, cheering for both as they locked up, sending each other into the corners before breaking it off. They locked up again and this time Rosa tried a shoulder tackle, but Athena didn’t move. They locked up a third time and Rosa got a wristlock on.

Athena reversed it though, looking for an ankle lock, but settling for a head lock. The two rolled around the ring, trading holds until Rosa pulled Athena up and wracked her arm on the ropes. Rosa worked Athena’s shoulder until she was able to reach the ropes.

Athena clutched her arm as Rosa charged, sending her into the ringpost. Anthena then delivered a back body slam onto the ring apron (the ringest part of the apron!) and dropped Rosa on the barricades, before tossing her back into the ring.

Athena began to bring the pain, slamming knee after knee into Rosa’s back. Athena hauled Rosa up and hit a front slam, getting only a two count to her surprise. Athena began targeting Rosa’s back, hanging her up on the ropes and delivering kick after kick.

Athena rained down UFC style punches and hit a senton, trying to put Rosa down for good. Rosa fought back, targeting the shoulder of Athena. The two staggered to their feet and traded kicks until Athena landed on one Rosa’s face. Rosa responded by sending Athena face-first into the second turnbuckle.

Rosa got Athena down in the corner and hit her with a huge dropkick, targeting the shoulder. Rosa tried to lift Athena, but her back gave out allowing Athena to reverse it into a backbreaker. Athena climbed the ringpost, but Rosa met her there. They traded punches on the post until Rosa hit a superrana, sending Athena rolling out of the ring. Rosa followed her with a baseball slide, and then a top rope dive.

Rosa sent Athena into the steel steps before tossing her back into the ring. Rosa climbed to the top rope and hit a double stomp on Athena’s shoulder. Athena’s arm was almost useless as she rolled out of the ring. She made her way up the ramp, about to leave. Rosa came out of the ring and Starkz got involved while the Ref checked on Athena.

Rosa went up the ramp and Athena grabbed her and chokeslammed her off the ramp through a table! Athena then made her way back to the ring, hoping to get the countout on Rosa. Rosa waved off medical staff and staggered back to the ring as well, ending the count.

Athena hit her with a backbreaker immediately, but Rosa kicked out at two. Athena tried a knockout blow, but again, two. Athena went to the top rope for an O Face, but Rosa caught her there and they battled on the ring post until Rosa locked in a triangle choke. The ref broke it up, but the damage to Athena’s arm was done, but not done enough that she couldn’t powerbomb Rosa off the top!

Athena locked in a side surfboard, putting all the pressure on Rosa’s back. Rosa tried to get out of it but was forced to tap out, giving Athena the victory.

Match Result: Athena (c) defeated Thunder Rosa

Wow. Athena matches are a pure clinic in professional wrestling. She and Rosa told a great story in the ring, each working a body part and selling it until it looked like they were practically crippled. Excellent match and I’m very pleased the Forever Champion’s reign continues.

ROH World Title Match: Bandido (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita

After a match of the year contender against Mascara Dorada at Global Wars Mexico, ROH World Champion Bandido was issued a challenge by… (checks notes) Konosuke Takeshita. OK. Sure. Anyway, Takeshita blames Bandido for costing him the #1 spot in the All In Casino Gauntlet, so they will have a fight about it.

Takeshita had about a six inch height advantage, but that didn’t matter as they locked up and Bandido got him in a headlock. The two began a technical chain as Don Callis joined the announce team.

In the ring, Bandido climbed up Takeshita and landed him in an armbar. Takeshita powered out and put on an arm lock of his own. The speed picked up from there with leg sweeps and quick holds until the tow stood facing off, taking a reset.

Takeshita tried to take control, but Bandido was able to squirm out of everything he threw at him. Bandido rand circles around Takeshita until he was able to hit a double dropkick on him, sending the bigger man to the mat.

Bandido stomped Takeshita in the corner, but allowed him to stand. That gave Takeshita an opening to punch Bandido in the face. Bandido returned the favour and the two locked up in a classic test of strength. Takeshita put Bandido on the mat, but Bandido used his feet to flip the bigger man over in a head scissor.

Takeshita dodged a Bandido charge in the corner and began beating him up, standing on his head and slowing the pace of the match down to match his strength. Takeshita brought Bandido to the mat with an arm lock, twisting and wrenching it.

Bandido battled back and hit a twisting elbow off the top rope. Then he stomped the midsection of Takeshita, wearing him down. Bandido hit a Code Red, but it was only a two count. Takeshita grabbed BAndido and hit a German suples followed by a Blue Thunder Bomb, which got him a two count, as Blue Thunder Bombs tend to do.

Bandido fired back with a high knee. He went for a 21 Plex, but Takeshita grabbed the ropes, stopping him in his tracks. A big right forearm put the champion on his back as Takeshita tried to take off Bandido’s mask. Callis left the booth and returned to ringside.

Takeshita found a chair and tried to hit Bandido, but he dodged it. Bandido then tried a dive to the outside, forgetting that only seconds ago Takeshita had picked up a chair. Takeshita used that chair on Bandido in mid air. He then went back to trying to remove Bandido’s mask. Blood could be seen on Bandido’s face through the eyes.

Takeshita dragged Bandido up the to top of the entrance ramp where he delivered a brainbuster. Takeshita then sauntered back to the ring. The count was at 14 before Bandido got to his feet and staggered back to the ring, just beating the count.

Takeshita sent Bandido to the corner, then bit his head. Bandido could barely see at this point between his loose mask and all the blood. Takeshita went for a simple chinlock, but the look in the champion’s eyes said that he was close to passing out.

Takeshita went back to working Bandido’s arm and shoulder. Bandido struggled but was able to get Takeshita up and over for a suplex. That gave Bandido a second wind and he hit a poisonrana on Takeshita, sending him to the outside and diving after him.

Bandido went up top for a frog splash, but only got a two count. The two men lay in the ring, exhausted, until Takeshita rose and charged. Bandito went for a walkup moonsault, but again, two. Bandido then hit a butterfly facebuster, but could get past the two count. Bandido then tried a double arm submission, but Takeshita wouldn’t quit.

Takeshita and Bandido then ran the ropes culminating in a double clothesline that left both men down. Takeshita got to his feet first and delivered a big kick. Bandido hit a back elbow that dazed Takeshita. Takeshita rose up in perfect position for the 21 Plex, but Takeshita landed on his feet. Bandido sent him to the ropes again and hit a perfect 21 Plex, but Takeshita kicked out a two!

Bandido dragged Takeshita to the top rope and hit a moonsault slam, but again, Takeshita kicked out at two. Bandido was throwing everything he could think of at the big man, but he just wouldnt stay down.

Bandido went up top again and went for a shooting star press. Takeshita got his knees up though and Bandido was sent flying. Bandido pulled down his knee pad and hit an Ex-Knee on Takeshita who crawled up the ropes. Bandido went for a 21 Plex, but Takeshita caught him in a wheelbarrow suplex followed by a knee to the skull, but Bandido kicked out at two.

Takeshita picked up Bandido for a high slam, but Bandido quickly reversed it into a pinning combination and Takeshita couldn’t get out. 1-2-3, Bandido wins the war and retains the title!

Match Result: Bandido (c) defeated Konosuke Takeshita

After the match, Hechicero came down to the ring to pay respects and make it known that he’s Bandido’s next challenger!

What a great night of Wrestling! Bandido is bringing a lot of prestige to the ROH World Title, taking on a ridiculous string of challengers. I know that this was a great match because I’m absolutely exhausted from watching it, but darn it, I’m going to watch it again!

Ring of Honor live results: Supercard of Honor go-home show

The final stop before this Friday’s Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor has arrived with tonight’s show on HonorClub.

ROH Tag Team & Six-Man Champions Dustin Rhodes, Sammy Guevara and the Von Erichs will be in competition against the Grizzled Young Veterans and the Premier Athletes.

Former ROH Women’s World Champion Deonna Purrazzo will take on Rachael Ellering in a Pure rules match ahead of the now-delayed women’s Pure title tournament.

CMLL’s Atlantis and Atlantis Jr. will battle the Spanish Announce Project, Adam Priest goes one-on-one with Aaron Solo, and The Frat House will host another initiation ceremony to round out the show.

**********

Coming to you live from the best chicken restaurant with wifi Southeastern Ontario has to offer, it’s Ring of Honor on Honorclub. The show before the show, as in less than 24 hours it’s Supercard of Honor!

Atlantis & Atlantis Jr. vs. Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico)

I love the SAP and the only thing that I like more than the SAP are All-Atlantis teams, so i was pretty stoked to see this match in the lineup. A father-son luchadore team up against two of the premiere ROH technicians and high-flyers? Yes please.

Atlantis started things off against Angelico and it was clear from the lock up that Angelico’s 6-inch height advantage wasn’t going to count for much. Atlantis threw the slim man around until Serpentico tagged in and added a back elbow to the fray.

Junior tagged in and the two Atlantis’s’s (Atlanti? Atlantees?) double teamed Serpentico until Atlantis left the match and Junior went up for a frog splash that went awry when Serpentico pulled him off the ringpost.

Angelico tagged in and brought a little more aggression than we usually see from him, driving Junior into corner with some dropkicks. Serpentico joined the fun and SAP tried a while into the corner, but Junior dodged and hit a double slingblade on them both.

All four men entered the ring and a brawl broke out, with SAP almost getting a double pin. Atlantis send Angelico out though and Junior managed to land that frog splash on Serpentico, picking up the pin and win for he and his Dad!

Match Result: Atlantis & Atlantis Jr. defeated Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico)

After the match, SAP looked to avenge the loss, but in the end, respect won out and a four way Code of Honor was adhered to.

Adam Priest vs Aaron Solo

Weirdly, Priest did not get an entrance. Solo did, which was deserved, but nothing for Priest.

The two locked up and Priest immediately went to the technical style locking in a headlock. Solo, no technical slouch, reversed it into one of his own and the two rolled around on the mat until Priest hit the wrong side of Solo’s foot and was knocked to the ground with a dropkick.

Priest fought back though, looking like a proto-Mox and bringing some hard, violent strikes to the match. His firs pin attempt got only a two, but he caught Solo on the way up and tried a single leg hold. Solo squirmed to the ropes though, but Priest went for a camel clutch next.

Solo finally caught Priest looking with a neckbreaker followed by a spinning kick. Priest responded with a German suplex and Solo took him to the ring Apron (the hardest part of the ring!) where he dropped him face first onto the canvas.

Solo went up top for a double stomp, but Priest dodged it and locked in a half-crab submission. Solo was forced to tap giving Priest the victory. THEN he got his music played.

Match Result: Adam Priest defeated Aaron Solo

The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, John Silver and Evil Uno) vs The Frat House (Griff Garrison, Cole Karter, Jakked Jameson, Preston Vance)

Before the match could start, the Frat House came out and said that they were not medically cleared to compete tonight due to being hung over. They presented their newest pledges and said if they beat the Dark Order they would be in.

They didn’t really give names to the Pledges, Riccaboni ran through them, but fast enough that i couldn’t catch them.

Regardless, as you can imagine, the Dark Order made short work of the pledges and got a pin. So they win I guess?

“Match” Result: The Dark Order defeated The Frat House (Pledges)

After the “match” the Dark Order grabbed a mic and announced that tomorrow at Supercard of Honor, it would be The Dark Order vs The Frat House proper!

Pure Rules Match: Deonna Purrazzo vs Rachael Ellering

The Women’s Pure Title Tournament may be on hold for the moment, but I love seeing these women’s matches, and Purrazzo vs Ellering is a dream match in any format.

Physically, both competitors were pretty evenly match, so the lockups off the top were definite tests of strength. Purrazzo got a little cocky and Ellering made her pay for it with some vicious chops and lariats in the corner. She then hit a gutwrench suplex but only got a two count.

Purrazzo fought back with a big bicycle kick and pulled Ellering’s bandana down so she could see, allowing her to get an Armbar on, forcing Ellering to use her first rope break at 3:19.

The two traded shots in the middle of the ring until Purazzo sent Ellering down with a big lariat, into a double wristlock. Ellering twisted out and hit a big back elbow on Purrazzo. Ellering scooped her up and hit a big side slam for good measure.

PUrazzo locked in an armbar in the middle of the ring and Ellering held on as long as she could but was forced to tap with about 3 minutes left in the match.

Match Result: Deonna Purrazzo defeats Rachael Ellering

The Sons Of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) & The Von Erichs (Marshall von Erich & Ross von Erich) vs Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) & The Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari & Tony Nese) (w/Mark Sterling)

Earlier, the Sons of Texas ran into the Infantry (their Supercard opponents) backstage and assured Dean and Bravo that they would be walking out of Supercard still the Champions. The Infantry disagreed and they went their separate ways.

As for this match, it started off with Sterling announcing that he’s done some lawyering and he’s determined that Dustin Rhodes cannot legally kick him in the “privates” like he did when they last met.

So, there was that.

Guevara and Nese kicked things off with Guevara falling prey to Nese’s technical prowess. Nese backed Guevara into a corner and delivered some big back elbows. Then did jumping jacks while Guevara shook it off and delivered a dropkick to Nese. Nese responded by challenging Guevara to a push up contest. Guevara deked him out and tagged in Marshall.

Gibson tagged in and went toe-to-toe with Marshall until Marshall backed him into a corner and delivered a big cannonball. Ross tagged in and the brothers double teamed Gibson in the middle of the ring.

Ross was sent to the outside where Sterling, Drake, Nese and Daivari stomped him. Throwing him back in the ring, Ross was islolated and Drake and Gibson tagged in and out beating him up in the corner. Drake locked in a sleeper hold but Ross reversed it into a back suplex and got a hot tag to Rhodes.

Daivari jumped in, but Rhodes was clearing house and snap slammed Nese, Daivari and then dragged Sterling into the ring for a Shattered Dreams. Before he could execute it though, Nese got in the way.

A melee broke out and at then end of it, Nese and Guevara were legal with Sterling still up on the ropes, apparently unable to free himself. Daivari took out Marshall and Nese took out Ross and Sterling freed himself momentarily, but Rhodes came back and shattered his dreams.

Nese tried to help but ate a Texas Destroyer for his trouble. The Von Erich’s up the Claw on GYV and Rhodes hit a big slam on Daivari in the middle of the ring to pick up the win heading into Supercard!

Match Result: The Sons Of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) & The Von Erichs (Marshall von Erich & Ross von Erich) defeat Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) & The Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari & Tony Nese) (w/Mark Sterling)

See you tomorrow at Supercard of Honor!

Ring of Honor TV live results: Tag Team title number one contender’s match

The next Ring of Honor Tag Team title shot will be on the line as part of tonight’s ROH on HonorClub.

Top Flight (The Martin brothers) will take on The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) with the winners moving to face The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara), presumably at next week’s Supercard of Honor.

In a singles clash, former ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta takes on Alex Zayne.

In a Pure rules match, Serena Deeb returns to take on B3CCA. It’s Deeb’s first Khan company appearance since March, and her first ROH bout since July 2022.

The Spanish Announce Project of Angelico & Serpentico take on Eddie Pearl & Ricky Gibson to round out the card.

**********

It’s a brand new episode of Ring of Honor on Honorclub and with Supercard of Honor just over a week away, it’s going to be a big one!

Wheeler Yuta vs Alex Zayne

Believe it or not, Alex Zayne was actually on the card at Supercard of Honor 2024, teaming with, of all people, Lance Archer as the horribly named “Monstersauce.” Shagginess-enthusiast Yuta has been riding with death in AEW and one would think he’d be a sure contender for any title in ROH, presuming this match goes well.

Yuta took the fight right to Zayne off the top, wrenching him to the mat by the waist. Zayne fought back with a flipping senton and a double knee off the ropes. Yuta had to bail out of the ring to collect himself and Zayne tried to follow. Yuta saw it through his bangs though and tripped him up.

Yuta delivered an elbow off the top turnbuckle and the match deteriorated into a slugfest. Yuta began mugging for the camera before delivering a suplex to Zayne. Yuta started delivering hammer elbows to Zayne and when the Ref called him off he exclaimed “I. Have. Until. Five” at him. Zayne used this as a moment to take control and try a face buster, but Yuta reversed it.

Yuta bridged Zayne in a cattle mutilation, but Zayne wouldn’t quit. Yuta dragged him to the top turnbuckle and wrenched Zayne’s shoulder. Zany shook it off though and hit a boomerang hurricanrana into a facebuster. Yuta kicked out at two though.

Yuta caught Zayne with high running knee out of the corner and that was it for Zayne. 1-2-3, Yuta wins!

Match Result: Wheeler Yuta defeats Alex Zayne

Fun little match, I’d forgotten about Alex Zayne’s high-flying ability and it made for a great foil for Yuta. Now get a haircut, young man.

-Backstage, the Infantry cut a promo wishing everyone a happy 4th of July (or Will Smith Day as they put it.) …aaaand that was it.

Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) vs Eddie Pearl & Ricky Gibson

When I first read this match lineup, I was shocked to see Ricky Morton in action against SAP. Then, upon further inspection, I was shocked to see that Ricky Morton would not be in action against SAP, but Ricky Gibson would! He and Pearl used to be (?) known as Midnight Heat, so that just makes things even more confusing. A for their opponents, I know we have a big Tag Team #1 Contenders match on deck tonight, but I honestly feel like SAP should have been in that conversation.

Angelico kicked things off against Pearl and it was kind of like putting a bowl of spaghetti next to a bowl of oranges. Angelico has the agaility and Pearl had the strength. A quick tag to Gibson allowed him to show off his skill, but Angelico was waiting for him and backed him into the corner for a tag to Serpentico.

Gibson towered over Serpentico, but it didn’t stop the luchadore from kicking him square in the face. Gibson hit a slingshot backbreaker off the ropes before tagging in Pearl to toss Serpentico around. Pearl locked in a sleeper, but Serpentico battled out of it with a jawbreaker. Gibson sent Serpentico into the corner, following him in, but Serpentico dodged and Gibson hit the ring post, crotch first.

A hot tag was made to Angelico who immediately started cleaning house. He used Pearl as a springboard to deliver a forearm to Gibson, sending him to the outside. he rolled up Pearl, but Gibson broke up the pin. Serpentico got involved and send Gibson to the outside, followed by a Suicide dive.

In the ring, Angelico locked in a calf crusher on Pearl and while Serpentico dealt with Gibson on the outside, Pearl tapped giving the victory to SAP.

Match Result: Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) defeat Eddie Pearl & Ricky Gibson

I absolutely love SAP. They have a really unique fusion of high-flyer and Luchadore technique and they are also the best dancers in ROH, bar none.

-Next, footage of the Frat House at a bar (in the middle of the afternoon) was shown. They were being jerks, when suddenly the Dark Order showed up and challenged them to a… drinking contest? Anyway, they decided to play Flip Cup. The losers would have to pay everyone’s tab. Long story short, Dark Order won, but the Frat House said that they cheated. John Silver said they’d pick up the tab anyways to great cheers. Alex Reynolds told the barkeep to charge everything to Griff Garrison, to which the bartender responded “who the hell is Griff Garrison?”

Pure Rules Match: Serena Deeb vs B3CCA

With the first-ever Women’s Pure Champion being crowned at Supercard of Honor, it’s about time Deeb got her hands dirty. I’d say Deeb is a favourite to win the tournament. B3CCA has one other ROH match under her belt (a 2023 loss to Leyla Hirsch) and I hope she gets what’s coming to her in this match because she’s making me type “B3CCA” over and over again.

Deeb and B3CCA locke dup and Deeb was in firm control. B3CCA was forced to use her first of three rope breaks at just :53 seconds into the match. Off the ropes, Deeb planted B3CCA with a stiff shoulder and then pulled her into a modified surfboard into a camel clutch.

Deeb continued to try submission after submission, forcing B3CCA to use her second rope break at 2:35. B3CCA sent Deeb into the corner and followed her with some high European uppercuts. She hit a dropkick on Deeb, but only mustered a two-count.

Deeb hit a neckbreaker across the second rope into a hammer lock lariat for another two-count. Deeb hit a double hammerlock facebuster in the middle of the ring. She moved it into a half-crab stretch and B3CCA was forced to tap out.

Match Result:  Serena Deeb defeats B3CCA

Sorry B3CCA, but this is what happens when you disrespect the letter “e.”

-After the match Trish Adora came out to the ramp with a notebook, scouting for the ever-impending Women’s Pure Championship Tournament.

ROH World Tag Team Title #1 Contendership Match: The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) (w/Lee Moriarty, Shane Taylor & Trish Adora) vs Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) (w/Leila Grey)

The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara) have been tag team champions in ROH since August 17th, 2024. They have defended against the likes of The Undisputed Kingdom, The Righteous and The MxM Collection. Their next challengers will be revealed tonight as The Infantry and Top Flight face off. These teams have a long history and if they can keep it clean, this should be an absolute banger of a match.

Darious and Dean kicked things off with a power struggle. Darious’ speed won out as he flipped Dean into a snap headlock. Dante make a sneak tag and he and Darious double teamed Dean until he could get a tag to Bravo.

Bravo delivered some hard shots to Dante who manged to get a tag to Darious, who sent Dean out of the ring, with Bravo to follow. Shane Taylor tried to trip up Darious, but he slipped outside and started chasing Dean around the ring. Unfortunately he ran into Bravo who knocked him down.

Back in the ring, Darious was being doubled teamed, with Bravo leaving Dean to finish up. Bravo hung him up in a tree of woe and Dean jumped in so they could double stomp him. Bravo sent Darious to the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring) and he and Dean punched him in the stomach (the hardest part of Darious!).

Dante paced nervously as across the ring, Dean and Bravo wailed on his isolated partner. Darious managed to play a little possum and grab Bravo and Dean for a double DDT before getting a hot tag to Dante. Dante cleaned house with a springboard cannonball onto both members of the Infantry,

Dante and Dean remained in the ring and Dante hit a high crossbody for a two count. Trish Adora hopped up on the ring to cause a distraction, allowing Dean to try a pin with a handful of tights. Dante kicked out and tagged in Darious. Adora hopped back up in the apron, but Grey came by swinging and the two battled up the entrance ramp.

In the ring, Darious and Dean were legal and Dean sent Darious into the ropes, allowing Moriarty to clock him with the Pure title belt. That gave Dean the chance to get a quick pin and win the match.

Match Result: The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) defeat Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin)

A pretty good match between these teams, but honestly I expected a little more. The crowd was kinda dead so that didn’t help either. No matter though, as The Infantry will make a great opponent for the Sons of Texas and maybe this is the start of the Shane Taylor Promotions takeover that I so desperately want to see.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Bandido vs. Mansoor

Tonight’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub will feature more CMLL action ahead of next week’s AEW/ROH invasion of Arena Mexico.

After appearing during a big brawl at AEW Summer Blockbuster, former ROH TV Champion Atlantis Jr. will team with Templario against Volador Jr. and Magnus.

In a Proving Ground match, ROH World Champion Bandido will take on Mansoor where if the challenger can win or draw the champion, he earns a future title shot.

ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet will return to action in her own Proving Ground bout.

The card is rounded out by Evil Uno taking on former Dark Order teammate Preston Vance, while Shane Taylor Promotions will be in eight-man action.

**********

For the 120th time, Ring of Honor streams it’s way into our collective hearts with two huge Proving Ground matches and a Supercard that’s just under a month away.

-Shane Taylor Promotions kicked things off with empassioned promo about… money in the bank? Oh, right literal money in a metaphorical bank. They are ready to start mixing things up and let the rumblin’ begin!

Magnus & Volador Jr. vs. Atlantis Jr. & Templario

Between the participants of this match there is a metric ton of Gold. Atlantis currently holds the World Historic Light Heavyweight Champion and is of course a former ROH World Television Champion. His partner Templario is one half of the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Champions (with TJP as United Empire) as well as the CMLL World Middleweight Champion. Magnus is a double Tag Champion, currently holding the MLW World Tag Team Championship and the Mexican National Tag Team Champion with Rugido as Los Depredadores. And Volador Jr? Well… he’s there too.

“Lucha Libre” chants broke out as the Luchadores began to libre. Volador and Templario kicked things off at breakneck speed, swapping holds and moves. Atlantis tagged in to face off against Magnus, but caught a kick through the ropes from Volador which lead to a double team.

Atlantis was able to fight them off, sending Volador to the outside. Templario tagged in but Mangus and Volador took their time deciding who would join him in the ring. It ended up being Volador who kept up with Templario until MAgnus tagged in. Templario it an inside-out arm drag and that brought in Atlantis.

Atlantis dove onto Magnus on the outside and Templario went up to the top turnbuckle for a missile dropkick on Magnus. Magnus fought back though, setting Templario up for a 619 and then a superkick from Volador.

Atlantis jumped in and took his place getting double teamed in the corner. Volador went for a lazy cover and Templario broke it up. Magnus hit a low blow on Templario when the refs back was turned and Volador began working his ribs.

A hot tag was made to Atlantis but Magnus was heading straight for him with some rapid punches. Magnus tried to take Atlantis’ mask and almost got it off too. He then did some push ups and flexed. Really.

Atlantis found new life and hit backbreakers on Volador and Magnus. Templario delivered a split kick, sending Volador out of the ring. Atlantis went up top and hit a frog splash on Magnus to get the pin and the win for his team.

Match Result: Atlantis Jr. & Templario defeated Magnus & Volador Jr.

Super fun Luchadore match to start things off! I love these matches on ROH, because they tell a great story in the ring.

Evil Uno (w/ Alex Reynolds) vs. Preston Vance (w/ Cole Karter, Griff Garrison & Jacked Jameson)

I’ve been reading a lot of Batman comics lately and the never ending battle between the Dark Order and The Frat House kind of has me feeling like they are destined to do this forever. In this case, it’s Uno taking on Vance with everyone’s back up in tow. It also might be time for the Dark Order to get some pledges (or new D&D players, or whatever it is they do) to even up the numbers game.

PS – if you forgot that Vance was once in the Dark Order, don’t worry. So did I.

It was no surprise to see that the Code of Honor did not happen. The bell rang, and Uno took it straight to Vance, knocking him from pillar to post. Vance bailed to the outside where the half a dozen Frat House members were waiting. Uno followed him out though, standing up to all of them.

Uno threw Vance back in the ring, but as Uno was climbing up to join him, the rest of the Frat House, led by Jameson, put the boots to him. That gave Vance the upper hand and he laid some shots in on Uno. Shocking no one, every time the ref’s back was turned a Frat House member would take a shot at Uno.

Vance started pie-facing Uno which fired him up. He hit a stunner on Vance and then went for a corner splash that Vance dodged and locked in a full nelson hold. Uno began to fade, but powered out of it, delivering a huge forearm to Vance’s huge face.

Uno dropped Vance with a DDT and went for a piledriver, but Vance reversed it into a fall away slam. Vance tried a discus elbow but Uno was able to land the piledriver and throw a discus elbow of his own. He went for the cover, but the Frat House distracted the ref from making the pin.

Vance was slipped the pledge paddle and Vance clocked him with it before the ref could see to get the pin.

Match Result: Preston Vance defeated Evil Uno

After the match, the Frat House began beating down Uno and Reynolds when suddenly a returning John Silver arrived to (not really) even the odds! It was enough to send the Frat House packing though as a full strength Dark Order reconnected in the ring.

What a great match. As much as I hate the Frat House I love Evil Uno. He and Vance know each other really well and it was a great back and forth with each man getting a chance to shine. Silver’s return was great, but someone needs to teach the Frat House how to count, because there were still six of them to three of the Order.

ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet vs. Harleen Lopez in a Proving Ground match

Red Velvet is closing in on a full year as ROH Women’s TV Champion and will be in CMLL next week to take on Persephone. That’s about all you need to know. Her opponent, Lopez, clearly had a strength advantage, but Velvet hasn’t been champ this long for no reason.

Lopez laid some killer shoulder tackles onto Velvet, temporarily knocking her silly. When she recovered, Velvet went to the boxing background she’s got a pummelled Lopez in the corner. Lopez threw some elbows back at Velvet followed by a butterfly suplex.

Lopez traded strikes with Velvet until she left herself open for a Mama’s Kitchen and Velvet pinned her, dashing Lopez’ title dreams.

Match Result: Red Velvet defeated Harleen Lopez

Fun little squash, but the outcome was pretty obvious even as it was happening. Velvet is on fire and not going to be giving up that Women’s TV Title anytime soon.

-The Dark Order cut a promo in the back, with the returning John Silver talking about meat. Uno declared that the three of them are better than six of the Frat House. They laid out a trios challenge for any time, anywhere.

Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty & The Infantry) vs. Vaughn Vertigo, Martian Webb, Riley Reinhart and Joe Demaro

Shane Taylor Promotions is bringing out all it’s weapons tonight in this massive 8-man match. STP are the most dominant faction in ROH, so it’s surprising that the only title they hold is the ROH Pure Title on Moriarty’s shoulder. Time will tell if they can gather some more belts, but for now they look to make short work of Vertigo, Webb, Reinhart & Demaro, who despite sounding like a law firm, did not have much to work with.

I don’t even really know how to describe this match. It was pretty much just members of STP taggin in and out to completely destroy whichever of the other four were in the ring. It almost became comical as between the four of them, neither Vertigo, Webb, Demaro or Reinhart got any offense in.

The only actual wrestling in the match was when Moriarty was in the ring and had a decent exchange with Vertigo. Then Taylor tagged in and offered his face for a free shot from Demaro. Taylor no sold it then beat him down and went for a pin… that was actually broken up, much to Taylor’s surpsise, by glutton-for-punnishment, Webb.

Moriarty tagged in and put the Border City Stretch on Demaro and he tapped out in seconds. The end.

Match Result: Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty & The Infantry) destroyed defeated Vaughn Vertigo, Martian Webb, Riley Reinhart and Joe Demaro

I love STP, but honestly, this was one of those matches that didn’t make them look good. There was no believable way that they weren’t losing this match, which just begs the question, what was the point? I sincerely hope they find themselves with some purpose as we get closer to Supercard of Honor in July.

ROH World Champion Bandido vs. Mansoor (w/ Johnny TV, Mason Madden & Taya Valkyrie) in a Proving Ground match

It was announced last week that one of the “M’s” in MxMxTV would get a shot at a shot at Bandido’s ROH World Title. Mansoor is the M in question and he’s bringing the whole gang with him. There’s been a few Proving Ground wins lately and with Supercard of Honor a month away, could this be the beginning of the Main Event story?

Mansoor came to the ring with his crew and it looked like Madden had borrowed his boots from Valkyrie, which was neat. Bandido arrived in a cowboy hat because, well, why not?

A Tip-Touch of Honor was adhered to and the ten minute time limit began ticking down. Mansoor was actually pretty evenly matched against Bandido size wise and wrestling the champion gave him a chance to show off his speed and agility. Bandido for his part looked like he was having a lot of fun.

Bandido put Mansoor on his back and gave him the finger guns, which incensed MAdden on the outside who screamed “no guns!” Bandido set Mansoor up for the 21 Plex, but Madden pulled him out of the ring and Bandido along with him. Mansoor took advantage and threw Bandido into the stairs. Madden, TV and Valkyrie stomped him while Mansoor distracted the ref.

Back in the ring, Mansoor hit a backbreaker, softening up the back of Bandido, stretching him over his knee. Bandido powered out of it (he’s a power lifter, you see) but Mansoor drove an elbow into his back. Bandido responded with a superkick and twisting tornado dive from the top rope.

Bandido went for a suplex, but his back wouldn’t handle it. He was able to recover for a one handed press-slam though and climbed the ropes for a huge frog splash, but Mansoor kicked out at two. Bandido tried a 21 Plex again, but TV caught him and laid him out giving Mansoor a chance to hit a butterfly suplex and get a two count of his own.

Mansoor distracted the ref and Madden and TV tried to steal Bandido’s mask. The ref saw it though and ejected everyone from ringside. This was seven minutes into the match and Mansoor used the chaos to try for a moonsault. Bandido saw it though and dodged, setting Mansoor up for the 21 Plex. He nailed it this time and pinned Mansoor, 1-2-3.

Match Result: ROH World Champion Bandido defeated Mansoor

After the match, Lee Johnson came wandering down to the ring. This distracted Bandido enough that Black Christian was able to jump him from behind in the ring. He stood tall over Bandido and he and Johnson stomped him in the ring. Mascara Dorada (who will face Bandido on Tuesday in CMLL) appeared at the top of the ramp and ran down to the ring to run off the heels. He then picked up the ROH title and offered his hand to Bandido. He handed the champion his belt as the two shared mutual respect.

Very cool main event! MxMxTV are fantastic and Bandido made it look like tons of fun. The after match schmozz was cool too because I think it teased a future title match between Bandido and Christian, which is something I would very much like to see.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Persephone debuts

Ahead of the upcoming AEW/ROH vs. CMLL week in Mexico, Persephone will make her promotional debut on tonight’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub.

The young CMLL star will team with former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa will take on CMLL’s Dulce Tormenta and Leila Grey. It’s Tormenta’s first ROH bout since July 2024.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will return for the first time since the AEW Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament as she hosts a Proving Ground match against Rachel Armstrong. A win or draw by the challenger gives her a future title shot.

Wheeler Yuta of the Death Riders will look for his fourth straight win as he faces Aaron Solo.

The show is rounded by an initiation by The Frat House.

**********

A bunch of debuts and a returning champion headlined this week’s episode of ROH on Honorclub (number 119 for those scoring at home).

Persephone & Thunder Rosa vs. Dulce Tormenta & Leila Grey

CMLL’s Persephone makes her ROH debut here teaming up with none other than Thunder Rosa. Rosa last appeared in ROH with a win back in February over Brittnie Brooks. Their adversaries are ROH mainstay Leila Grey and CMLL’s Dulce Tormenta who just a couple of weeks ago won the GCWA Women’s Championship. Neato!

Persephone kicked things off against Grey and the crowd was already chanting for both. Persephone wasted no time in laying out Grey with a big scoop slam. That brought in Rosa who used speed to get a few near falls on Grey. Grey fought back with a sunset flip though and a couple of rollups.

Grey has really stepped up her game, delivering punishing strikes to Rosa before tagging Tormenta in. Persephone followed suit and these two put on a Luchadore show that was fantastic. Persephone was in total control until Tormenta dodged a big splash from the top rope.

Grey tagged in and took the fight to Persephone, hitting a shining wizard into a dragon sleeper. Rosa broke up the hold, but Grey locked it right back in. Persephone came back with a spear worthy of that Copeland guy.

Tormenta and Rosa faced off next with Rosa getting the upper hand with a huge dropkick. Rosa locked in a cobra clutch on Tormenta and she was forced to quickly tap out. Fun match!

Match Result: Persephone & Thunder Rosa defeated Dulce Tormenta & Leila Grey

-Footage was shown of the Frat House backstage, bragging about their drinking skills. They called Ian Riccaboni over and yelled at him about the way he talked about them on commentary. He asked what was next for the Frat House and they offered Riccaboni a drink. Then they yelled the boooooooze part of their catchphrase and left…

…Which brought us to the entrance ramp. Someone tragically gave Jameson a mic and he yelled Fraaaaaat Hoooouuuse and claimed that “hot chicks” were watching Ring of Honor for the first time because of them.

The Frat House were holding an “initiation” and had two pledges with them. Immediately they began beating them up, four on two. Vance let the pledges know that they could be in the group if they win a match against Garrison and Karter.

The Frat House (Griff Garrison and Cole Karter) vs. Two Unnamed Pledges

They never got around to saying the names of the two pledges (but I think one was Dale Springs? Maybe?) Any way, Jameson yelled at them while Garrison and Karter beat them up.

There really wasn’t much to say about this entirely pointless “match.” Surprising no one, Garrison got a pin and that was it.

“Match” Result: The Frat House (Griff Garrison and Cole Karter) defeated Two Unnamed Pledges

-Backstage Persephone and Thunder Rosa cut a promo. Persephone asked Rosa to join her in CMLL for a match since their ROH match went so well. Rosa accepted and that was that.

Wheeler Yuta vs. Aaron Solo

Yuta, who’s playoff beard is admirable but out of control, is six-time ROH Pure champion who just barely survived Anarchy in The Arena at AEW Double or Nothing just 10 days ago. Solo is still the BTW Heavyweight Champion and a genuine workhorse, so this match looks promising from the get-go.

Both men waved off the Code of Honor and locked right up. Yuta seemed to underestimate Solo and left himself open for a couple of chin locks. Yuta turned to strikes then and Solo returned the favor, followed buy a quick dropkick.

Yuta turned the tables with a big suplex and elbow drop from the top rope. Yuta locked in an inside grapevine and started posing, leaving himself open to some shots form Solo. Yuta caught him with a german suplex but missed on the follow through allowing Solo to hit a double stomp form the top rope.

Yuta caught Solo with a big knee to the head and that knocked him clean out. 1-2-3 and Yuta got the win.

Match Result: Wheeler Yuta defeated Aaron Solo

-Backstage, MxMxTV joined us to announce that Mansoor is going to face ROH World Champion Bandido in a Proving Ground match! Taya Valkyrie translated Mansoor’s broken Spanish and predicted that he would win next week’s contest.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena vs. Rachel Armstrong in a non-title Proving Ground match

Ring of Honor’s Forever Champion Athena is back! Athena’s last ROH match was a tag team win with Diamante back in March that was largely used as something to rub in the face of the Milhouse of Minions, Billie Starkz. Tonight, Athena took on Rachel Armstrong in her ROH debut in a proving ground match. Yeesh, talk about trial by fire…

Athena is not a tall champion, but Armstrong actually looked tiny next to her. The crowd welcomed back Athena, who offered up a Code of Honor and then quickly turned it into a Punch In The Face of Honor.

Athena did not let up from there. She pounded Armstrong in the corner to the point the Ref had to stop it. Armstrong tried to get some offense in with an arm drag and quick super kick followed by a DDT. Armstrong went up top, but Athena slid out of the ring. Armstrong tried a suicide dive, but Athena caught her and threw her into the barricades over and over.

The crowd chanted for Athena who responded by throwing Armstrong into the steel ring stairs. She tossed Armstrong back into the ring and clubbed her in the back of the head. Repeatedly.

Armstrong then got a near fall by reversing a powerbomb attempt into a hurricanrana. That upset the champ and she pulled Armstrong up to the second rope in an electric chair. Armstrong rained down punches though and Athena had to bail. Armstrong went for a 450 but Athena dodged it and picked her up for a sit out powerbomb. That got her the three count and the win in her big return.

Match Result: Athena defeated Rachel Armstrong

After the match, Athena continued beating up Armstrong in the ring. The ref tried to stop her, but Athena tossed him out of the ring. Suddenly, Thunder Rosa appeared and chased Athena out of the ring. Athena sulked up the ramp, but forgot her title belt. Rosa held it up in the ring which made Athena very very angry.

After the match, not unlike an after credits scene in a Marvel movie, a video aired. A spaceship landed in the desert where a certain group of boys were waiting. The flying saucer landed and the door to the ship opened and out stepped…. DALTON CASTLE!
