As it’s the 4th of July holiday in the U.S., The Infantry (Shawn Dean, Carlie Bravo & Trish Adora) will host tonight’s episode.

ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta will wrestle his first match in the promotion since Final Battle 2023 as he faces Lee Moriarty in a Proving Ground match.

ROH Tag Team Champions The Undisputed Kingdom (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) will also be in action as they take on Metalik & Komander in a Proving Ground match.

With three big time Proving Ground Matches driving this week’s holiday ROH card, the show was packed from pillar to post! Kicking things off was The Infantry with a Fourth of July message for everyone! They declared themselves Official Hosts for the Independence Day edition of ROH TV!

Juice Robinson & The Gunn Club (Austin and Colton Gunn) defeated The Dark Order (Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds, John Silver)

This Trios Proving Ground match gave the Dark Order a chance to fight for a future shot at the ROH Trios Championships, currently held by Bullet Club Gold. All the Order had to do was last 10 minutes or pin one of their opponents.

Fun Fact: The Unified ROH/AEW Trios Titles are the only ones defended on both AEW and ROH shows, so the Champions must pull double duty.

Using a modified Freebird Rule, Robinson took the place of Jay White, who was “out with injury.” Uno kicked things off against Austin and the crowd was hot. Austin found himself isolated early, but Robinson and Colton broke things up, keeping the match on an even keel.

Robinson at one point climbed into the ring and pretended to be a dog and pee on Uno (no, really), causing an enraged Reynolds to chase him around the ring. That left Reynolds open to an attack by Colton though, to the frustration of Uno and Silver.

Time began getting short as Robinson and Reynolds both leapt for hot tags, pitting Uno against both Gunns. He hit relentless splashes into the corner(s), and when Robinson tried to help, all three Bullet Clubbers were set up for a big triple dropkick.

Eventually, the Gunns hit a 3:10 to Yuma on an unsuspecting Reynolds and managed to put an end to the Proving Ground match and get the win for their team.

-The Infantry joined us for a US History lesson, marking the signing of the Declaration of Independence. They then ran down the card, mentioning that they would like to punch the Kingdom in the face with some Iron Gauntlets that they had for… some reason. They promised to be back, and the show moved into a MEM (Minion Empowerment Meeting)!

-ROH Women’s Champion Athena, ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz, Lexy Nair and their Minion Security appeared back stage. Before anything could happen though, Red Velvet and Queen Aminata joined the party. Velvet said that she’s been awarded a shot at Starkz’ TV Title at Death Before Dishonor! To make matters worse for the Minions, Aminata will be challenging for the ROH Women’s World Title at the same show, no matter if Athena is cleared to wrestle or not! Athena stomped off to find Tony Khan and find out what is going on!

-The Infantry then came back, but this time under the backdrop of the US Capitol. They ran down some of the monuments and attractions in Washington, declaring it America’s HonorClub!

ROH Tag Team Champions Matt Taven and Mike Bennett defeated Metalik and Komander in a Proving Ground match

Taven and Bennett have been on top of the ROH tag division for quite some time now. Last week, they lamented the lack of competition and literally prayed to “booker-man” Tony Khan for someone to fight on their level. Khan’s response can seconds later in the form of Metalik and Komander. If they could pin or outlast the Champions to a 10-minute Draw, they would get a guaranteed title shot in the future.

Taven and Komander started things off and it was apparent that Taven was little confused by the luchadore style. He tried to utilize his height advantage though but the speed of Komander was hard to contain. A missed double team led to a hot tag to Metalik and he managed to put Taven down and take Bennett on one-on-one.

Metalik and Komander held control through the first half of the match, landing big splashes and dives through the ropes, keeping the champions on their heels, both in and out of the ring. A miscommunication though left Metalik on his own against a double team from The Kingdom at the halfway mark of the match.

Bennett picked up the urgency, looking to put away Metalik as fast as he could to avoid time running out. The luchadore wasn’t going down easily though, hitting a sunset bomb off the top rope. Komander followed it up with a spinning DDT on Taven.

As the time limit crept closer to expiration, Bennett and Taven resorted to a little bit of good ol’ fashioned heeling and hit a bit double team on Metalik after taking out Komander. This got them the pin and the win.

-Continuing their tour of American historical locations, The Infantry joined us from Mount Rushmore. They talked about the Presidents on the Mount and suggested that they add themselves to Rushmore, Twice. They reminded us all that Death Before Dishonor is on it’s way and signed off to go “watch some Will Smith movies.”

ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta vs. Lee Moriarty went to a Time Limit Draw in a Proving Ground match

As with all Proving Ground matches, if the challenger (Moriarty) can pin or wrestle the Champion (Yuta) to a 10-minute draw, then Moriarty would get a shot at the ROH Pure Title at a later date.

Yuta, a member of the Blackpool Combat Club, matched up with Moriarty in size and speed really well. Unlike the previous two Proving Ground matches, a countdown clock was shown for this match which greatly added to the tension. Being able to see how little time was left really added an exciting aspect to the match.

At 7:43 Moriarty literally kicked Yuta out of mid-air, taking a bit of an upper hand in the match. Borrowing from his BCC teammate, Yuta tried a series of European uppercuts, but Moriarty was able to defend against them and lock in an arm-based submission move. Yuta reversed it though and the two took a breath.

Yuta, with about 5 minutes left managed to reverse a straightjacket hold, forcing Moriarty to use a rope break. As time ticked down, Yuta tossed Moriarty to the outside and dove through the ropes after him. Tossing him back in the ring, Yuta executed a series of suplexes on Moriarty.

With 90 seconds remaining, the match stayed pretty even. Yuta tried to pick up the pace, and caught Moriarty in an attempted pile driver. The two exchanged pinning attempts as the clock ticked down to less than a minute.

Fifteen Seconds were left as the two resorted to simple brawling, exchanging shots as time ran out relegating the match to a draw. However, Moriarty lasted the 10 minutes, so he gets a guaranteed shot at Yuta’s ROH Pure championship!

Ring of Honor TV live results: Mark Briscoe vs. Kyle Fletcher World title match

The Ring of Honor World Championship will be defended on ROH TV tonight as Mark Briscoe puts the title on the line against ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher on HonorClub.

This will be Briscoe’s first title defense since winning the gold at April’s Supercard of Honor. Fletcher’s TV title will not be on the line.

ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz will wrestle Angelica Risk in a Proving Ground match. The inaugural champion has yet to defend the gold since winning it at Supercard of Honor.

Former title challenger Taya Valkyrie will face Trish Adora while Lee Johnson will look to rebound from his recent best-of-three falls loss to Fletcher as he faces Alex Reynolds.

The show will also see The Righteous & Lance Archer in trios action while Marina Shafir will also compete.

Matches for this week’s show were taped at the Covelli Center in Youngstown, Ohio, on June 15th.

**********

With a huge main event waiting in the wings, this week’s ROH TV kicked off with an emergency MEM (Minion Empowerment Meeting). Lexi Nair, ROH Women’s Champion Athena and ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz lamented last week’s attack by Queen Aminata and Red Velvet. Athena said she would be out for 8-12 months, and “doesn’t feel safe at work anymore.” She then introduced two new male Minions who will act as their personal security. Then they decided they needed to find a belt for Lexi Nair and left.

With that said, the show kicked off proper with singles action!

Lee Johnson defeated Alex Reynolds

Johnson fought ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher to the very end of a brutal 2-out-of-3 falls match last week, but ended up coming up short. Johnson has nothing but potential ahead of him, so this match against the Dark Order’s Reynolds (accompanied by Evil Uno) was an excellent way to start climbing that ladder again.

The two tied up to start things off and it led to a surprisingly slow pace to to the match. Johnson and Reynolds were pretty much the same size and both had the potential for explosive action. Johnson seemed to want to speed things up, but Reynolds balked at every turn.

The match played out pretty well, lots of high offense and back and forth exchanges, but an absolutely dead crowd. They had very little reaction to the action in the ring, and only really made noise when prompted by Evil Uno on the outside.

They did show some signs of life near the end of the match when Johnson countered a potential pedigree with a huricanrana pinning attempt, and when Reynolds executed a picture-perfect neckbreaker to try and get a pin of his own.

In the end, Johnson drove Reynolds’ face into the corner and superkicked Uno on the outside to create some separation and set up the Big Shot Drop and get the pin.

Marina Shafir defeated Erica Leigh

ROH has a problem and that problem is that I keep making the same joke about Shafir every week. So, this week it was all serious business when the hard-hitting Shafir took on Leigh.

As she’s done the last few weeks, Shafir utilized her mma and amateur wresting skills to keep Leigh at bay through most of the match. Shafir’s aggression and powerful strikes were at times over the top and the commentators speculated that the Ref might even stop things.

Shafir hit a shin-based modified 619 on Leigh and locked in a Mother’s Milk sleeper, causing Leigh to pass out and earn Shafir the win.

-Backstage the Undisputed Kingdom gave an interview in which they refused to believe that their interviewer’s name was “Arkity.” Bennett began lamenting the lack of real competition in ROH, and dropped to his knees to “pray to the booker-man” Tony Kahn for him to give them a team that might live up to their talent. They then called out every tag team in the universe to come talk to them. Bennett’s prayers were answered seconds later when it was announced that Komander and Metalik would face the Kingdom next week.

Lance Archer and The Righteous (Vincent and Dutch) defeated Duke Davis, Victor Benjamin and Ganon Jones jr

If ROH TV was an hour, I could watch 55 minutes of it featuring just Vincent and Dutch snapping their fingers and hossing it up. It’s not the case though, and this match with their pal Archer was more about making statements than entertaining folks such as me.

As for the match, it didn’t really matter. Davis and Jones Jr tried their best to take out the Righteous on the outside, but it had little effect. Archer and Vincent double teamed Benjamin in the ring, with Vincent ending up as the legal man. Vincent’s unorthodox style gave Benjamin nowhere to go and he ended up bailing out of the ring. Unfortunately for him, Dutch and Archer were waitng and drove him into the ring steps.

Dutch tagged in and levelled Benjamin, cutting him off from his partners. Ganon managed to tag in though and the two big men went at it. Archer and Vincent jumped into help and laid out Ganon. Vincent was legal and came close to a pin. Dutch nailed Davis with a Boss Man Slam and then Vincent hit Orange sunshine to get the victory.

After the match, Archer hit a blackout slam on Benjamin to put a period at the end of the sentence.

Taya Valkyrie defeated Trish Adora

No one talks trash like Taya talks trash and her skills were on full display in this match with Adora. The Infantry accompanied Adora to the ring, but left ringside after the entrance.

Valkyrie jumped Adora right off of the Code of Honor and the two began exchanging big chops. Valkyrie had a big ol’ smile on her face as she twisted and wrenched Adora’s elbow. Adora responded with a splits submission move that looked genuinely painful.

Ever the opportunist, Valkyrie took advantage of Adora being dazed and kicked her head into the mat, not once but twice. She then covered her up, getting the pin and the victory.

-Backstage, Leyla Hirsch discussed her match with Diamante last week. Diamante interrupted and said she was here for a fight! Hirsch challenged her to a No Holds Barred match and Dimante accepted.

ROH Women’s World TV Champion Billie Starkz defeated Angelica Risk in a Proving Ground match

In this Proving Ground Match, if Risk could last 10 minutes or pin ROH Women’s TV Champion Starkz, she would get a shot at that very title at a later date. Starkz had to keep looking over her shoulder though, as her BFF Athena suffered a brutal attack by Queen Aminata and Rev Velvet last week.

Starkz was her usually bratty self, but after the events of last week, she came with a lot more aggression than usual. Some of the stomps and strikes on Risk looked extremely violent. The Ref had to step in a couple of times as the was not a match, it was a fight.

Risk did her best to fight back, but Starkz threw her to the outside and drove her face-first into the barricade. Starkz called out “that’s for you, Boss” as she doled out the violence in Athena’s name. Risk managed to get a small flurry of offence in, but Starkz put an end to it quick with a big kick.

Starks put Risk in a Hammerlock submission and Risk tapped right out, walking away from a championship match.

ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe defeated ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher

This Champion-vs-Champion Main Event match came somewhat out of nowhere. Fletcher was hot off of winning a killer 2-out-of-3 falls against Lee Johnson last week and Briscoe hasn’t been seen much in ROH since capturing that World Title. This match promised to be a classic though, which makes one wonder why ROH didn’t promote it more. But honestly, once we were in it, that didn’t matter.

Fletcher’s crisp, technical style was a terrific match for Briscoe’s brawler antics and the match was a blast from the start. Right out of the lockup, Briscoe was mocking Fletcher, getting in his head with Karate Kid Crane Style moves. The crowd arrived in this match, chanting “Dem Boys” whenever possible in tribute to the Briscoes.

Briscoe’s strategy was to keep the match pace under his control so Fletcher couldn’t build up steam. Lots of headlocks and arm drags stymied Fletcher as Briscoe toughed things out. Fletcher tried to hard to overpower Briscoe, but the spirit of the World Champion would not be beat. Fletcher caught Briscoe looking though and hit a big backdrop on the Ring Apron (the hardest part of the ring).

Fletcher gained control of the match, suplexing Briscoe on the concrete. Jay Lethal held the ROH World and TV titles at the same time, so the possibility of a title change here was very prominent. Fletcher threw Briscoe back in the ring for the first pin attempt, but Briscoe kicked out at one.

From there, the match went back and forth. Fletcher gaining upper hands, and Briscoe fighting his way back to upend them. Eventually the match devolved into a brawl which definitely favoured Briscoe. A fisherman’s brainbuster and some Redneck Kung Fu put Fletcher on his back, but Briscoe was only able to get the two-count.

Briscoe hit a suplex from the top rope, but both men felt the impact. Fletcher rolled out of the ring for some recovery time, but Briscoe followed him and ate a superkick for his efforts. Briscoe fought back (as he does) and landed a Cactus Jack elbow from the ring apron.

Briscoe tossed Fletcher back into the ring and tried to hit a splash from the top rope, but Fletcher had it scouted and got the knees up to block. Briscoe caught Fletcher with a Spiccoli driver and hit a Froggy Bomb off the top rope, but Fletcher kicked out at two. Briscoe hit a big lariat followed by a Jay Driller and managed to get Fletcher’s shoulders to the mat for a three-count. An absolutely fantastic match and a rare loss for Fletcher.

**********

A big two-out-of-three falls match was headlining this week, but the extra-long show kicked off with some lucha libre stlye action!

Titan defeated Aaron Solo

Titan, the current CMLL Welterweight Champion, and Solo were pretty evenly matched in terms of size and speed and both had potential for some pretty cool high-flying moves.

Titan got the jump on Solo off the top though, sending him to the outside with a big dropkick. Solo recovered and the two exchanged punches and chops until Solo managed to knock Titan to the mat. However, Titan sprang back up and got the drop on Solo. Solo avoided a splash from the top and responded with a double stomp from the top rope.

The crowd began to turn on Solo, chanting that he sucked as Titan limbo-avoided a clothesline. Titan hit a double stomp of his own on Solo from the top rope to win his first ROH match in six years.

Griff Garrison, Cole Karter, and Anthony Henry defeated The Infantry (Carlie Bravo and Shawn Dean), and Serpentico

Garrison. Karter. Serpentico. These three have been circling each other and fighting over Serpentico’s stolen mask for months now. Throw in Henry and The Infantry (accompanied by Trish Adora) and this match had all the making of what they used to call “a slobberknocker.”

Garrison and Karter were accompanied to the ring by Maria, still brandishing Serpentico’s stolen green mask. Serpentico arrived in a, frankly, way cooler black-with-green-accents mask, so he might not even care about the old one anymore.

Henry and Serpentico kicked things off and ran the ropes dodging lariats kicks until Serpentico got the upper hand and isolated Henry in the Infantry’s corner. A few double teams later, Garrison jumped in to try and save Henry, but was given a swift boot to the face for his trouble.

Garrison and Karter took out the Infantry outside the ring, leaving Serpentico all alone. Karter quickly tagged in and the beat down was on. Serpentico found himself isolated in his opponent’s corner and Henry locked in a straight jacket choke hold. Adora got the crowd going and Henry began showboating, which quickly cost him as Serpentico school boy’ed him for a two-count.

Eventually, both men remembered that they had teammates, and hot tags were executed by both, bringing in Bravo and Karter. Garrison tagged in and The Infantry executed a textbook Boot Camp for another near fall. All six men entered the ring and a brawl broke out. When the dust settled, it was Henry and Serpentico in the ring.

Garrison nailed Serpentico with a steel chair from the outside when the ref was distracted and Henry was able to pin him for the win.

-On the ramp, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz joined fellow “minion” Lexi Nair. Athena entered on crutches, her leg in a boot. Through tears, Athena told the crowd that she tore ligaments in her ankle, and it looks like it will take 4-6 months to recover. A sobbing Athena said she had to vacate the ROH Women’s Championship due to injury. The crowd chanted “keep it” but Athena then swerved us all and said she was not giving up the title! She vowed to be the ROH Women’s World Champion forever!

Suddenly, Queen Aminata and Red Velvet arrived. Velvet called Athena out, accusing her of faking the injury, just like Starkz faked an injury to win the Women’s TV Title Tournament. It came to blows and the IRL injured Athena was shoved to the ground. Starkz Chased off Aminata and Velvet as ROH staff came out to help Athena to the back.

Jacoby Watts defeated Brandon Cutler

This promised to be an interesting match, as in recent weeks Watts has been “teaming” with Nick Comoroto, who accompanied him to the ring. I say “teaming” because Comoroto has been doing all the work, and Watts has been… preaching? Proselytizing? Definitely not helping his partner. So seeing Watts in singles action was an interesting change.

Watts started off with a promo, which was interrupted by Cutler who entered to no music but the loudest track suit known to man. Butler ran down the crowd, Watts and Comoroto. Comoroto responded by headbutting him in the chest. The bell rang and the match began.

Watts actually wrestled in this match, showing off some impressive speed and high slams. The two traded right hands until Cutler hit a cutter on Watts. Cutler had control and laid a beating on Watts while Comoroto tried to fire him up on the outside.

Watts hit a knee stunner on Cutler and actually got the pin to win the match. Watts and Comoroto celebrated in the ring.

Marina Shafir defeated Maggie Minerva

ROH has a problem, and the problem is Marina Shafir. Shafir has been on a very, very aggressive streak in ROH, and this match was a great chance for her to show why she’s a serious problem to everyone in the Women’s Division.

Minerva had a couple of inches in height on Shafir, but it didn’t seem to matter. Shafir wrestled Minerva to the ground, suffocating her. Upon breaking it up, she cartwheeled into another submission move on Minerva. The mean streak of Shafir was on display as she ground Minerva into the corner. Minerva got a nice kick on Shafir, but that was about it.

A powerbomb from Shafir that was heard in the next county led to a front headlock on a dazed Minerva, causing the Ref to stop the bout when Minerva passed out.

The Iron Savages (Bronson and Boulder) and Jacked Jameson defeated Isaiah Harris, Marsten and Eric Eznite

This was a squash from the start with Jameson and Eznite, who was working a Christian/prayer gimmick. The Savages and Jameson isolated him and beat him up in the corner. A quick tag to Harris resulted in much the same. At one point Boulder had both Eznite and Harris on his shoulder for a double slam. Marsten found his way into the ring and got a trip to Titty City for his trouble. A big slam later, it was all over.

Lance Archer defeated “Iceberg”

Archer jumped his opponent before his music had even stopped. The name of his opponent was never announced, but he had “Iceberg” on his tights, so that’s what I went with.

As mentioned, Archer had Iceberg from the start, throwing him around the ring like a rag doll. Iceberg tried his best to fight back, hitting a spear and attempting a swanton on Archer. Archer dodged though and chokeslammed him in the center of the ring. One Blackout later and it was over, with Archer getting the win.

Leyla Hirsch defeated Diamante

This looked to be a fun match between two touch women. Diamante has been working to get back into title contention in ROH, and Hirsch has only been pinned three times in ROH. Diamante hasn’t been able to defeat Hirsch in ROH, so this was a great match up.

Hirsch relied on her explosive power to keep Diamante at bay. Lots of roll throughs and suplexes by both women who excel at the technical aspects of the sport. Diamante managed to block a pendulum attempt in the corner to reverse fates in the match. Diamanta worked the braced-up knee of Hirsch, trying to keep her off her feet.

HIrsch managed to get a series of German suplexes on Diamante, driving her into the corner for a pendulum stomp. However, Diamante exploded out of the corner with a spear and got a 2.5 count on Hirsch.

Surprisingly though, Hirsch managed to counter Diamante’s finisher into an inside cradle to get the win. A frustrated Diamante nailed Hirsch after the bell and stomped off.

ROH Tag Team Champions The Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) defeated Angelo Parker and Matt Menard for the ROH Tag Team Titles

-Earlier in the night, Bennett and Taven cut a promo lamenting their lack of legacy in tag team wrestling. They feel they deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the Young Bucks, Briscoes and more. They are 5x world champions and “melvins” like Menard and Parker aren’t on their level.

Fresh off his honeymoon with AEW’s Ruby Soho, Parker reunited with last week’s special color commentator Menard for a shot at the ROH Tag Team Titles, that the Undisputed Kingdom have held in their grip for quite some time.

Bennett and Parker kicked things off and Parker wasn’t able to get control over Bennett, so Menard tagged in to give it a shot. Once Taven tagged in, things picked up as Parker and Menard isolated and double teamed Taven in the corner.

Taven took advantage of Menard’s taped ribs as it was the Kingdom’s turn to isolate and double team. Manard fought back though against Bennett and the two traded blows. Tags flew, and poses were struck as the Kingdom maintained control over the match.

Parker was thrown to the outside by Taven. Bennett staked him, but Menard arrived to save his partner. They took out Bennett and Menard hopped back in the ring. Bennett wasn’t all out though and socked Parker in the face.

Parker was let alone in the ring and Bennett and Taven double teamed him without consequence until Menard jumped back up on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring) looking for a Tag. Parker created some separation, but couldn’t get the hot tag to Menard.

The Kingdom tried a Hail Mary, but Parker knocked Taven into the ropes and got the tag on Menard. Menard cleaned house, punching Bennett in the corner exactly ten times. Menard got a Boston Crab locked in on Bennett and no-sold Taven’s attempt to break it up. Parker took out Taven and Bennett managed make it to the ropes to break the hold.

Menard and Parker hit a double DDT on Bennett who managed to kick out. Taven slid one of the title belts into the ring, but Menard intercepted it. The Ref tried to take it away, and Bennett managed to get a surprise rollup on Menard to win the match and retain the titles for his team.

ROH World TV Champion Kyle Fletcher defeated Lee Johnson in a best of three falls match for the ROH TV Title

-Earlier in the evening, Atlantis Jr of CMLL appeared backstage to challenge the winner of this match in Mexico!

Johnson called out ROH World TV Champion Kyle Fletcher a couple of weeks ago. Fletcher reminded him that he had already beat him. Twice.  Johnson said that he thinks he can beat Fletcher twice in one night, and challenged him to a 2-out-of-3 falls match for the ROH World TV Title. Fletcher accepted and that brings us to this Main Event match.

The 17-0 Fletcher was very determined to not only keep his title, but prove that Johnson was no match for him. Johnson responded but diving through the ropes and taking him out before the match had even started.

Johnson dragged Fletcher into the ring and tried to get a quick pin, but Fletcher rolled out. Johnson dove on him again, from the ring post this time. The two battled on the outside, with Johnson coming out on top and pulling Fletcher into the ring.

It was Fletcher’s turn to send Johnson to the outside, where he threw him into the barricade, twice. He followed that up with a backdrop on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring) and flexed for the crowd.

Back in the ring, Johnson hit a dropkick to show some signs of life. Johnson hit a big neckbreaker for a two-count, both men failing to secure the first fall in the match. Fletcher hit a hammerlock suplex on Johnson followed by a charging knee in the corner. Johnson reversed his pinning attempt into a spiccoli driver, but no falls were scored.

Fletcher began to show signs of frustration that he wasn’t able to put Johnson away. The two exchanged lariats and ended up on the outside again. Johnson drover Fletcher to the ground and pulled him back onto the ring apron. Fletcher hit a brain buster on the apron and pulled Johnson in for a pin, but Johnson refused and kicked out at two.

Fletcher lawn-darted Johnson into the corner, hit a big kick and brain buster and Johnson finally gave up the first fall of the match. The Ref checked on Johnson, who was favoring his leg and the match continued.

Johnson tried to rise to his feet several times, but every time he did, Fletcher kicked him in the face and sent him back to the mat. The ringside doctor entered the ring to check on Johnson. Johnson insisted continuing, and Fletcher dragged him up for a top rope brain buster, but Johnson reversed it. With a quick rollup, Johnson got the second fall, tying the match and sending it to next-fall-wins!

The challenger and champion traded blows. Fletcher went for a powerbomb, but Johnson reversed it for a two-count. Johnson hit a Canadian destroyer from the second rope and follwed it up with a diving sunset bomb to the outside.

A dazed Fletcher stayed on the outside and the ref began count. Fletcher made it back just before the count expired and Johnson hit him with a press from the top rope and then a frog splash. Johnson climbed up for a second splash, but Fletcher kicked out of the pin at two.

Johnson went in for the kill, but the ref stopped him, concerned about Fletcher’s neck. While they argued, Fletcher sent Johnson into the ref with a low blow. Fletcher hit the brain buster from the top rope and got the three count, the second fall and retained his title in this exhaustive and excellent match!

**********

This week’s show was chock-a-block with multi-team and multi-person matches, so it was a little surprising that it started off with singles action.

ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz defeated Sandra Moone in a Proving Ground match

This Proving Ground match would give Moone a shot at the ROH Women’s TV Title if she was able to last 10 minutes, or pin the champion. Starkz has been dominating most opponents in her ROH Women’s TV title reign, but Red Velvet and Queen Aminata have been causing trouble for her post-match in recent weeks. Also, the recent injury of ROH Women’s Champion Athena leaves Starkz without her biggest back up.

Moone was in the tournament that landed Starkz her title, but didn’t make it very far, so this was a big opportunity for her. Starkz controlled things off the top with a series of holds and locks, keeping the match pace slow. That allowed Starkz a lot of time for showboating and playing to the crowd.

Moone took a toss into the corner really hard and collapsed with an apparent back injury. She managed to get some recovery time though, while Starks screamed “don’t tell me what to do!” at the Ref. Some hard strikes from Moone had Starkz on her heels while the clock ticked towards that 10-minute draw.

Starkz climbed to the top rope to hit a high flying move, but instead hopped off to a chorus of boos and locked in a submission move. Moone tapped out, dashing her hopes in the Proving Ground match.

Shane Taylor and Lee Moriarty defeated Jacoby Watts & Nick Comoroto

The “team” of Comoroto and Watts haven’t been off to a great start in recent weeks. Suffering through back-to-back losses in which Watts has barely, if at all, actually entered the match, it’s been Comoroto who’s had to do the majority of the work and taken most of the punishment. That includes verbal berating from Watts when they lose.

True to form, Comoroto started things off against Moriarty. Comoroto had the size advantage, but Moriarty had the trash talk advantage. That is until Comoroto simply picked him up in a bench press and threw him away. He tagged Watts who accepted it and began preaching on the mic. He then tagged Comoroto again who faced off against Taylor.

Off of a Skin-The-Cat move, Taylor headbutted Comoroto, dazing him for Moriarty to tag in. Comoroto took on both men while Watts… hung out? I guess? Anyway, Comoroto took Moriarty to the mat, but Watts blind-tagged in to try and get credit for the pin. Moriarty kicked out and Watts tagged back out.

A hard knockout punch from Taylor put Comoroto’s lights out and he was able to get the pin, handing Watts and Comoroto another loss.

-Backstage, Johnny TV and Taya Valkyrie cut a promo. Valkyrie has beef with Queen Aminata calling herself a queen when she hasn’t earned it. Valkyrie issued a warning that she was going to be coming for Aminata and shoving that throne up her– nevermind.

Red Velvet defeated Viva Van

Velvet has had her eye on Billie Starkz lately, looking for any opportunity to insert herself in to the ROH Women’s TV Championship picture. A solid effort against Van would go a long way towards moving Velvet up that ladder.

After a long feeling-out process, the two women locked up and were pretty evenly matched as far as speed and style. Vvelvet got the upper hand and used it to put Van in a headlock. Van’s gymnastic moves helped her get loose and avoid Velvet, eventually running into a dropkick.

Van laid in a nice cartwheel kick leading to a near fall. Van switched things up and went for an armbreaker submission. Velvet was able to break the hold though, and responded with an armbreaker of her own. Van was nowhere near the ropes and managed to flip Velvet over to try and get Velvet on her shoulders, forcing Velvet to break the hold.

Velvet and Van seemed to lose sight of each other a lot in this match, and it showed with a number of moves not really connecting. In the end, velvet was ale to get Van’s shoulders to the mat and pick up the win. Then she danced.

Top Flight (Darius and Dante Martin) & Action Andretti defeated Lance Archer & The Righteous (Vincent and Dutch), Dark Order (Evil Uno, John Silver and Alex Reynolds) and The Infantry (Carlie Bravo and Shawn Dean) & Dalton Castle

This match. I’ve been known to joke about Ring of Honor’s love of multi-person matches in the past, but this one took the cake. Twelve wrestlers, some of which are established teams and some of which seemed randomly thrown together, competing for the victory. The wild card? Dalton Castle. Why? Because he’s always the wild card.

There was so much happening in this match that I had to keep track of things via bullet points:

  • Castle, emotionally recovered from his loss to Kyle Fletcher in a banger of a match last week, spent the opening moments of the match arguing with Archer about blocking the camera for his entrance.
  • Andretti top flight held their own against anyone they were up against. Their high-flying and speedy moves were a great foil for the Dark Order and The Righteous, and a great fit against the Infantry.
  • The Righteous, clearly bored, jumped in and out when they felt like it, beating up and triple teaming, well, everyone.
  • The Dark Order were able to keep pace with everyone. They had speed, they had power and they seemed to take a little bit of extra joy in beating up Top Flight.
  •  The Infantry and Castle were kind of personas non gratas, with the exception of a flurry of suplexes from Castle on whoever he could grab.
  • The Announce team made some very timely and current In Living Color references for some reason.
  • In the end Andretti and Top Flight were able to hold off the Dark Order long enough to pin Reynolds.

Could Top Flight and Andretti be the team that dethrones the Bang Bang Gang? Only time will tell.

Marina Shafir, Alex Windsor & Diamante defeated Abadon, Lady Frost & Leyla Hirsch

This match had a problem from the start and that problem was Marina Shafir. Shafir has been on a real aggressive tear through the ROH women’s division in the last few weeks, so this match would come down to how well she could put that aside and work with her team. With the heavy hitters of Frost, Abadon and Hirsch on the other side of the ring, Diamante, Windsor and Shafir need to work together to survive the match.

Shafir and Hirsch kicked things off which was a great matchup of technical wrestlers who went back and forth, eventually devolving into MMA-style punches. Abadon tagged in and matched Shafir’s agression with some heavy-hitting moves.

Frost and Diamante locked up and Frost managed to isolate her in the corner. Diamante fought back though, isolating Abadon in her teams corner. The debuting Windsor kicked Abadon into a near fall, but only got the two-count.

Shafir used Windsor as a weapon, slamming her partner onto Abadon. Windsor then used Diamante as a weapon in much the same manner. Abadon though channelled her inner Undertaker and sat up, managing to get a tag to Frost.

Hirsch, giving up about a foot to Windsor, tried to go to the top rope, but instead ate a shining wizard (or Shining Windsor) to allow Windsor to get the pin and the win for her team.

Harley Cameron defeated Trish Adora

This was the ROH debut for The Outcasts Cameron and Adora was a great opponent to make it a memorable one.

Cameron definitely had the speed advantage, but Adora was able to keep her to a slower pace with some hard hitting strikes. Cameron got back on top quickly though, taunting and egging on Adora. Adora only bit a little bit and managed some hard shoulder tackles to put Cameron in her place with an Air Raid Crash submission attempt.

Cameron slowed things to a methodical pace and caught Adora in a bowtie submission. Adora fought back though, spamming hips into Cameron’s face in the corner. Adora missed a Lariat Tubman and Cameron capitalized with a running knee to the face to get the 1-2-3.

ROH Tag Team Champions Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) defeated Che Cabrera & Bad Dude Tito in a Proving Ground match

If Cabrera and Tito could last ten minutes or pin the Champions, they would earn a shot at the Undisputed Kingdom’s tag titles in the future. The Kingdom, however, have been putting and end to Proving Ground matches pretty quickly and decisively, so there wasn’t a lot of hope coming from the challengers.

Throughout the episode, The Announcer team had been hyping up a special guest commentator for the main event “from Montreal.” It turned out to be none other than “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard! Menard was scouting the Kingdom for when his partner, Cool Hand Ang, returns from his Honeymoon.

Cabrera and Tito have been a team for over a decade and brought a Steiner Brothers-like energy to the match. Taven wasn’t having it though, and managed to stay on top of Cabrera. Cabrera’s size became a factor though and he managed to turn the tables on Taven. Bennett distracted him though and Taven took advantage, cutting Cabrera off from his partner.

Cabrera fought his way into a hot tag to Tito though, and Tito took out both Bennett and Taven. A pinning attempt failed though and Tito hit a big flapjack on Bennett. Cabrera was sent to the outside though, and Taven and Bennett smelled blood in the water.

The speed and intensity of the match picked up and after a vicious double team, Bennett pinned Tito and the Undisputed Kingdom got the victory.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Kyle Fletcher vs. Dalton Castle

Ring of Honor presents its weekly show on Honorclub tonight.

Two ROH Champions will be in action on the show. ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher will defend his title against Dalton Castle and ROH Women’s TV Champion will wrestle Zamaya in a Proving Ground match.

Also booked for this week is a triple threat trios match pitting the Dark Order vs. Iron Savages vs. Johnny TV, Cole Karter & Griff Garrison. The Infantry, Marina Shafir, and Queen Aminata are also scheduled for the show.

Matches for this week’s episode were taped in Las Vegas over Double or Nothing weekend. Spoilers from the show are available here.

Ring of Honor TV announced lineup for Thursday, June 6, 2024 —

  • ROH World TV Champion Kyle Fletcher defends against Dalton Castle
  • ROH Women’s World TV Champion Billie Starkz vs. Zamaya in a Proving Ground match
  • The Dark Order’s John Silver, Evil Uno & Alex Reynolds vs. The Iron Savages (Boulder & Bronson) & Jacked Jameson vs. Johnny TV, Griff Garrison, & Cole Karter
  • The Infantry (Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo) vs. Nick Comoroto & Jacoby Watts
  • Marina Shafir vs. Amira
  • Queen Aminata vs. Mazzerati

*********

ROH TV hit the air and kicked things off with a Queen!

Queen Aminata defeated Mazzerati

Aminata has been on fire in her recent feud with ROH Women’s World Champion Athena. This match would serve to remind Athena, and everyone, that Aminata is very good at wrestling.

Mazzerati definitely won Best Hair of the evening with a killer layered purple/blue cut that perfectly matched her gear. It even gave her a bit of confidence off the top as the came out swinging, catching Aminata unprepared.

It didn’t last long however, because as mentioned, Aminata is very good at wrestling. She used her height advantage to control the pace of the match through most of it, executing suplexes and rollups like it was just another day at work.

Three big, brutal kicks hung Mazzerati up in the ropes, and possibly knocked her out. Aminata threw her into the centre of the ring though and delivered an air raid to get the big win.

Marina Shafir defeated Amira

Always nice to see Shafir in action. She’s come a long way from her NXT days and is now a force to be reckoned with in Tony Khan’s Fiefdom(s). Amira was a hometown hero and would soon see why they call Shafir “the Problem.”

Shafir didn’t have to dig too deeply in her bag of tricks, but utilized her MMA and martial arts skills to absolutely pound Amira into the mat. Shafir kept working Amira over, keeping her on the ground and trying to catch her in a submission hold.

Eventually, Shafir locked in a crossface sleeper hold and Amira passed out shortly thereafter.

ROH World TV Champion Kyle Fletcher defeated Dalton Castle

-Earlier backstage, Dalton Castle was interviewed by Lexi Nair. Castle’s therapist has been telling him to get his feeling out, and he apologized for putting Nair through his feud with “John TV.” As if conjured by a wizard, TV arrived demanding Castle give him back his sunglasses. Castle told him that he had no qualms with TV anymore, and denied taking the glasses. The two debated who had a bigger next move in ROH. It was not resolved though as both stepped out of frame.

aaaaaand, Scene.

Castle was escorted to the ring by his many Boys (numbering near half a dozen now). Castle is a former ROH World Champion, so a TV title reign would get him in a great position to challenge for that title again. Fletcher has been red-hot in ROH and AEW lately though, so it was not going to be an easy battle.

Fletcher refused a Code of Honor while the crowd chanted Castle’s name. Castle flexed his amateur wrestling muscles, trying to catch Fletcher in a test of strength and then a waist lock. Fletcher stayed to the outside, keeping Castle from picking up any momentum.

Fletcher lured Castle out of the ring, delivering some hard strikes and throwing him into the barricade, seemingly injuring Castle’s shoulder. Fletcher pulled him back into the ring and used the rope to continue working the shoulder of Castle.

Fletcher got distracted by a trash-talking fan at ringside, and Castle was able to get some offence in. Fletcher quickly returned to the shoulder though, keeping the match at a snails pace. Castle wasn’t giving up though and got a surprise two-count.

Fletcher decided enough was enough and moved in to finish off Castle. Castle fought back though and delivered a series of killer suplexes. Castle had Fletcher up for a Bangarang, but Fletcher caught the ropes to avoid it. Castle tried a second Bangarang, but Fletcher got out of it and Castle hung him up on the ropes to deliver a big running knee, knocking Fletcher to the outside.

Fletcher delivered a really nasty looking half nelson suplex that rang Castle’s bell pretty hard. He staggered back in the ring and Fletcher hit a brain buster to get the one, two, NO! Castle kicked out!

After exchanging a series of truly thrilling reversals and near falls, Fletcher caught Castle in a piledriver and managed to get the pin to retain his title and extend his six-month TV Title reign. Excellent match!

The Infantry (Carlie Bravo and Shawn Dean) defeated Nick Comoroto and Jacoby Watts

Last week, Watts left Comoroto hanging, letting him to all the dirty work in a loss. This week, it remained to be seen if Watts would step up, or continue his mental manipulation of Comoroto. The Infantry ran off the Premiere Athletes last week, which stayed on their minds as the match began.

Like last week, Comoroto started off facing Bravo, and quickly found himself the victim of a few double teams while Watts watched from the corner. Comoroto had the size advantage over both members of the Infantry, but when he tried to tag Watts in, Watts was busy showboating for the crowd and missed the tag.

Comoroto looked to Watts for approval after every offensive move, but eventually found himself getting got by the high-flying Bravo. More double teams led Watts kicking Bravo through the ropes. The Infantry hit him with a couple superkick to send him off the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring).

Left alone again, Comoroto was taken apart by the Infantry and eventually Dean pinned him after a big splash from the top rope.

-Backstage, Lee Johnson cut a promo. He called out ROH World TV Champion Kyle Fletcher who just happened to be wandering by. Fletcher stepped up to Johnson and reminded him that he already beat him. Twice. So he goes to the back of the line. Johnson said that he thinks he can beat Fletcher twice in one night, and challenged him to a 2-out-of-3 falls match for the ROH World TV Title. Fletcher accepted and stormed out.

ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz defeated Zamaya in a Proving Ground match

In this Proving Ground match, if Zamaya was to last 10 minutes or pin Starkz, she would get a shot at the ROH Women’s TV title. Zamaya gave Mazzerati a run for her money in the hair department, as well.

Starkz tried a little trash talk off the top, but the bigger Zamaya put an end to it with a big scream. Starkz responded with a modified bulldog and the match was on. Starkz tried to fishhook Zamaya by putting her finger in her mouth and pulling her cheek. Starkz then stomped her in the corner, kicking pretend dirt on her face in in an act of disrespect.

In spite of the size difference, Starkz controlled the pace of the match, tossing Zamaya arund and using that darn hair to put her down. A big Swan Dive spash off the top rope and Starkz got the win and moved to 11 wins in a row.

Suddently, Red Velvet appeared in the ring behind Starkz! Starkz bailed quickly before Velvet could get her hands on her. Running up the ramp, Starkz ran right into Queen Aminata! Aminata threw her back in the ring and Velvet unloaded on Starkz until the referees broke up the brawl.

The Dark Order (John Silver, Alex Reynolds, and Evil Uno) defeated Cole Karter, Griff Garrison, and Johnny TV vs. Bronson, Boulder, and Jacked Jameson in a nine-man tag match

One thing that ROH absolutely loves in this era is multi-team or multi-person matches. This was an odd one though, featuring only three teams of three instead of four. They missed an opportunity to call it a “Trio of Trios Trios match” but I’m sure they’ll remedy that in the future.

Karter, Garrison and TV made unremarkable entrances. Jameson grabbed a mic and called the crowd “nervous virgins” in Las Vegas, a city that “used to be cool.” Then, a surprise -1 entered with the Dark order to a big ovation.

The match itself was what you’d expect from a match like this: Marginally organized chaos. There was a pose down, more yelling, another pose down, and then the match started with Silver and Jameson. It was strange that only two competitors were in the ring at a time. It led me to wonder how Garrison, Karter and TV would get into the match at all.

That question was answered though, when TV just jumped into the ring to knock the Savages to the outside. Then Garrision and Karter double teamed Evil Uno. I’m sure there was a legal man in there somewhere, but honestly, I could not tell you who it was.

When the dust settled, TV had Uno isolated in Garrison and Karter’s corner, the trio tagging in and out to lay in a beating on Uno. Finally, Uno was able to get a hot tag to Reynolds and it was the Savages turn to wait on the outside, hoping for an errant tag.

Jameson absolutely laid out Karter with a huge lariat but immediately ate a Shining Wizard from TV. More posing then occurred and when the ring cleared, Boulder and Bronson were double teaming Karter. Reynods got in the way though and Silver executed a huge suplex on the much larger Boulder.

More chaos ensued and during it, Silver managed to pin Jameson and get the win for the Dark Order, closing out a pretty great episode!

**********

To open the show, the card was run down and then Athena ran down! To the ring, that is.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena defeated Viva Van in a Proving Ground match

With both women in the ring, this was a Proving Ground match where Van had to last 10 minutes, or pin the Champion in order to secure a future title shot.

Athena was confident off the top though, taunting and teasing Van, even going so far as to offer up a vintage “test of strength.” Van held her own and gave as good as she got, with a tight armbreaker, forcing Athena out of the ring.

Back inside, Athena tried to put Van away quick with a heavy kick to the head, but was beginning to lose sight of the clock, which ticked away. There wasn’t a lot of urgency in Athena’s movements, but they worked and she held control through most of the match.

Eventually, Athena great tired of toying with Van and clubbed her down for the 1, 2, 3.

ROH World Tag Team Champions The Undisputed Kingdom (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) defeated Nick Comoroto & Jacoby Watts in a Proving Ground match

Following that up was the second Proving Ground Match of the night. Comoroto and Watts needed to pin, or wrestle the champions to a 10 minute draw to lock in a shot at the ROH Tag Team titles.

Comoroto gave two really nice Code of Honor handshakes to his opponents and the match began. Comoroto was the biggest guy in the ring and his heavy strikes worked well against the smaller Taven. Comoroto tried to tag Watts, but Watts convinced him that he could handle it without him, which was interesting.

Taven did gat a tag though and Bennett entered to knock Comoroto around. Comoroto fought back though, keeping both Bennett and Taven on their heels. Watts again convinced Comoroto he didn’t need to tag him in, and Bennett scooped him up for a spiccoli driver to get the win. Watts never even entered the match and yelled at Comoroto after the match, manipulating Comoroto into cheering for him.

Serpentico defeated Brady Roberts

A solo outing for Serpentico this week to debut a new mask. Also debuting this week, Brady Roberts, his opponent.

Both competitors were about the same size, so it was a fast-paced match with lots of really smooth action. Roberts had the upper hand several times in the match, including a really tough looking knee to Serpentico’s back. A terrific surfboard (literally) had Serpentico face down and close to tapping as well.

Serpentico came back though with some devastating chops in the corners. Despite Roberts’ 5-star effort, he fell victim to a bulldog which allowed Serpentico to hit a big senton and get the pin.

-Marina Schafir was interviewed in the back by Lexi Nair. They discussed Shafir being a problem that no one in ROH can solve. Shafir mentioned that if you don’t take care of a problem, it gets worse.

Red Velvet defeated Kel

Velvet entered to a good cheer from the crowd. Kel was a former basketball player and was several inches taller than Velvet. Her inexperience was a factor though, and Velvet was able to keep her off her feet, cutting out the advantage.

Velvet kept Kel on the mat with a series of shoulderblocks and knees. Eventually, she wore her down and picked up the pin.

Suddenly though, Athena’s music hit. Velvet turned to face her and fell victim to a sneak attack from Billie Starkz. Starkz bashed Velvet’s face into the ROH Women’s TV Title belt, knocking her out. Starkz bolted as the Ref attended to Velvet in the ring.

Zak Knight defeated Sebastian Wolfe

The undefeated Knight is having a great run through ROH and on Rampage as well. Knight took his time getting his gear off for the match, frustrating the crowd and his opponent.

Knight immediately tossed Wolfe to the mat and rained blows down on him. Wolfe fought back and tried to chop Knight, but had little to no effect. Kinght pounded and kicked Wolfe in the corner, making this seem way more like a bar fight than a match.

Knight hit a big stalling suplex, got the two count and yanked Wolfe up. He tossed him around a hit him with a massive lariat for another 2- count and pull up. Finally Knight laid a knock out punch on Wolfe and allowed the three count.

Lee Johnson defeated Aaron Solo and Action Andretti in a Three-Way Match

Johnson, Solo and Andretti are something like three sides of the same triangle in the squared-circle, so this match had a high-energy feel from the start.

Solo tried to get the jump on his opponents via fake sportsmanship, but it backfired and Andretti sent him out of the ring. Johnson and Andretti traded moves until Solo rejoined them. He was quickly superkicked out of the ring, and it was back to Johnson and Andretti.

Solo managed to get Johnson out of the ring, and took on Andretti. Solo tried to slow things down to put Andretti off his game, but Johnson re-inserted himself in the match and the three men knocked each other about. Solo tried for a big stomp off the top rope, but only got a two count of Andretti. Johnson and Solo had their face-off next, leading to a big dive out of the ring by Johnson.

Andretti tried a standing moonsault on both Solo AND Johnson, but it only resulted in a two-count on the two men. Several near-falls and momentum changes later, Andretti ate an errant superkick from Johnson, who slammed Solo and got the pin for the win.

The Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari & Tony Nese) defeated The Bollywood Boyz (Gurv & Harv Shira)

Mark Sterling rand down the Vancouver hockey team, The Canucks, to the crowds dismay. Then, they cheered up as the Bollywood Boyz entered wearing Canuck’s jeresys to a huge ovation!

The WWE release of the Bollywood Boyz was a dark time for their fans (who I count myself amongst). So it was great to see them in ROH, and against two great opponents in The Premiere Athletes.

Nese and Daivari jumped the Boyz off the top, but Harv and Gurv were ready for it. They fought the Athletes off, sending them out of the ring to regroup. Harv and Daivari ended up the legal men and Daivari let his mean streak out on the smaller Harv, isolating him from his brother. Nese tagged in and continued the beatdown.

Harv managed to get a hot tag to Gurv, who leapt into the ring and went toe-to-toe with Nese, clearing the ring while his brother recovered. The two sent Nese and Daivari out of the ring so they could do their signature dance.

Nese managed to land a pump handle driver on Gurv though and the Premiere Athletes took home the victory. They dragged the Bollywood Boyz back into the ring to dish out some punishment until The Infantry came to the ring with chairs to even the odds! They chased the Premiere Athletes out of the ring and stood tall with the Boyz.

-A vingette aired promoting Dalton Castle vs ROH World TV Champion Kyle Fletcher for next week’s show!

Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) defeated The Workhorsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry)

It’s the main event spot for Drake and Henry this week. They have a lot on their plates though with Top Flight, who came to the ring with Action Andretti who had just completed a costume change so quick, it could have been on the Eras Tour.

Henry and Darius kicked things off with some quick exchanges. The match felt really exciting off the top, with all these guys having great presence in the ring. Drake entered the match, asserting his presence by no-selling some big chops from Darius. Duante tagged in and did an amazing backflip OFF of the back of Drake.

Drake used his size to isolate Duante from tagging. A double stomp from Henry right on Duante’s back ended up in a two-count, but no pin for the Workhorsemen. Darius flew in off of a hot tag and cleaned house, getting the big man, Drake, off his feet. Henry broke up a pin and kept his team in the match, causing a distraction for Drake to land a low blow in the ring. Only a two count though as Darius kicked out, bringing everyone back into the ring.

Duante took advantage of Henry’s surgically-repaired jaw and landed a series of hard punches on his chin. Henry and Duante were the legal men, and Duante managed to land a side slam on Henry and get the pin for Top Flight.

Next Week: ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher vs Dalton Castle!

Ring of Honor TV live results: Kyle Fletcher vs. London Lightning

ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher will wrestle London Lightning in a Proving Ground match as part of tonight’s ROH on HonorClub.

If Lightning can pick up the win or go to a draw, he will earn a future title bout.

Jimmy Jacobs will step into the ROH ring for the first time since last September when he battles Satnam Singh who is coming off a DQ loss to Bryan Danielson on Wednesday’s Dynamite.

ROH Tag Team Champion Mike Bennett will face Matt Menard in singles action as an anticipated future clash between their respective teams looms in the distance.

In an eight-man bout, Lee Johnson, Action Andretti & Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) will battle Cole Karter, Griff Garrison & The Premier Athletes (Tony Nese & Ariya Daivari).

Other matches will see former AEW Women’s Champion Nyla Rose, Shane Taylor & Anthony Ogogo, and Serpentico & Angelico all in action.

Matches for this week’s episode were taped in three differetn cities: Edmonton, Alberta on May 8, Vancouver on May 11, and Portland on May 16.

**********

The lights were on, the crowd was hot and the card was ring down, to kick off ROH TV this week. The first match up was a Proving Ground match!

ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher defeated London Lightning in a Proving Ground Match

in this Proving Ground match, if Lightning could pick up the win or go to a 10-minute draw, he would earn a future title shot.

Lightning has been all over ROH in recent weeks and really earned the spot he’s in. Fletcher was looking to continue his dominance in the ROH TV Title scene and had Lightning on his heels off the top. Lightning fought back with a series of crossbodies and high knees off the ropes. Fletcher, looking a little tired from his heavy AEW schedule slipped to the outside. Lightning followed and Fletcher absolutely demolished him, dropping him on his head outside the ring. This led to a near-count-out for Lightning but he made it back into the ring in time.

The time was ticking away as Fletcher tried to put Lightning down, but Lighting fought back and was looking like he might eke out the victory. Nearing the 7-minute mark, Fletcher tried to put Lightning away, but he kicked out to everyone’s surprise! The crowd got behind Lightning at this point as the clock ticked down. Lightning locked in a scorpion death lock on Fletcher with about 90 seconds left. Fletcher managed to break the hold, and hit a Chris Adams superkick followed by a pile driver to get the win and dash Lightning’s hopes just before time expired.

The Workhorsemen (JD Drake and Anthony Henry) defeated Spanish Announce Project (Angelico and Serpentico)

Serpentico and Angelico took a break this week from their feud with Garrison, Karter and Maria to have a good old fashioned fight against the Workhorsemen. The faster, high-flying SAP were an interesting match against the more brawler-styled Workhorsemen.

That said, Drake was able to keep up with Angelico easily enough off the top. Angelico seemed a bit confused as to how to deal with the big man, so he tagged in Serpentico. Drake tagged in Henry and the two locked up.

Serpentico and Henry were pretty even in terms of technical ability and the match jumped up a notch in terms of speed and crispness. The two teams had a lot of respect for each other, as both men in the ring started getting the crowd going. This let Henry get a big kick in on a distracted Serpentico.

Drake had about 100lbs on Serpentico and he used it to toss the smaller man around the ring. It didn’t keep him down though as the hit a second-rope DDT on Drake. A hot tag to Angelico and he cleared the ring of Workhorsemen.

Angelico planted Henry with a flatliner and Serpentico was about to land a move from the top rope with Garrison and Karter arrived at ringside to cause a distraction. This let Henry get a pin on Serpentico and the win for the Workhorsemen.

-After the match Garrision and Karter attacked Angelico and Serpentico. They tried to bring in a chair, but the SAP were able to fight them off though and stand tall in the ring as their music played.

Nyla Rose defeated Riea Von Slasher

Rose was looking for her 5th straight win in ROH and Slasher, a 20+ year veteran was one of the few women on the roster who matched up with Rose in terms of size and strength.

No matter the size though, when Rose kicks you in the head, you fall down. This was true of Slasher who Rose had complete control of throughout the match. Rose hit massive Beast Bomb for the win, and is now back in the title conversation in the ROH Women’s Division.

Satnam Singh defeated Jimmy Jacobs

Singh was coming off a DQ loss to Bryan Danielson on Wednesday’s Dynamite, and Jacobs hadn’t been seen in ROH in quite some time. His pyro announced his arrival to the world though as it was loud and plentiful. Singh was the larger of the two men, but as Bryan Danielson proved on Dynamite, size isn’t everything.

However, in this match, size was everything and Jacobs looked like a dwarf next to Singh. Jacobs threw everything he had at Singh, kicks, punches, leaps, but nothing seemed to move him. Singh hit a cross-body on Jacobs, flattening him like a pancake. He got the standing 3-count and won the match.

Shane Taylor and Anthony Ogogo defeated Jon Cruz and Artemis Spencer

Taylor has been stepping up as of late and no jaw was safe with Ogogo, who’s knockout punch is not one to be taken lightly.

Ogogo started off against Spencer and managed to interrupt or counter just about everything Spencer could throw at him. Cruz tagged in and called out Taylor who happily tagged in to beat up the smaller Cruz. Taylor hit a Marcus Garvey Driver and that was it. I don’t think Cruz or Spencer got an offensive move in before losing.

ROH Tag Team Champion Mike Bennett (w/ Matt Taven) defeated Matt Menard

-Earlier in the show, Menard cut a promo where he told us that he didn’t know where his partner was (in reality his partner, Cool Hand Ang, was off getting married to AEW’s Ruby Riot), but tonight “Daddy Magic” would be getting the win and a shot for his team against the tag team champions!

Menard had some taped up ribs as he enjoyed a big ovation from the Canadian crowd. Bennett for his part was cool and collected, even after finding himself thrown out of the ring by Menard. Menard had the size, but Bennett had the quickness and the two ran the ropes and ended up outside. Menard used several barricades as weapons as Taven caused a distraction, allowing Bennett to regain momentum, tossing Menard into the steel ring steps.

Back in the ring, Bennett slowed things down with a sleeper hold. The crowd rallied behind Menard though and he broke the hold in time to eat a dropkick. Bennett managed to get a kimura lock in on Menard, who managed to make it to the ropes and break the hold. Bennett tried five times to get Menard up for a piledriver, but Menard kept countering.

Bennett and Taven faked leaving to draw Menard out of the ring. Bennett tried the piledriver again, but Menard countered, slamming him on the ramp. Taven put Bennett back in the ring to try and beat the countout, but Menard made it back easily. Menard locked in a Boston Crab on Bennett inthe center of the ring, but Taven drew his attention, allowing Bennett to hit a Spiccoli Driver.

Taven entered the ring and tried to throw powder in Menard’s eyes. Unfortunately, he got his partner, Bennett instead, and that allowed Menard to get the pin and take the match. Afterwards, Bennett and Taven beat up Menard with the ROH Tag Championship belts.

-Backstage an emergency meeting of the minions was called by Lexi Nair, ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz and ROH Women’s Champion Athena. Athena was still hot over an attack by Queen Amniata and Red Velvet last week. She said they would never be able to call themselves champions and left in a huff, minions in tow.

Lee Johnson, Action Andretti & Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) defeated Cole Karter, Griff Garrison & The Premier Athletes (Tony Nese & Ariya Daivari w/ Mark Sterling)

This massive main event featured some of the brightest in ROH. Diavari kicked things off with Darious of Top Flight and this match was great right away. The athleticism of each competitor was on display with all of the men involved being fast, high-fliers with a healthy dose of technicality to boot. It was like watching a vintage match in a modern setting.

It was a back-and-forth affair. Lots of hot tags between competitors, with neither team really carrying or losing control. Karter tagged in and isolated Andretti in the corner, but a stalling suplex gave Andretti a chance to tag in Johnson. Dropkicks rained down on the ring like glitching Young Bucks with feet meeting face again and again. The brawl moved outside the ring, but ref Aubrey Edwards was able to keep things in order and everyone returned to their corners.

Top Flight tried playing some mind games, stealing Karter’s “I Love Hot Moms” t-shirt to throw off his opponent. It didn’t work however, and Diavari made him pay for it with some hard stomps. Johnson tried to get a hot tag to his partners, but Nese tagged in and cut him off. Johnson reversed into a blue thunder bomb and got a big tag to Duante (now wearing the Hot Mom’s shirt). Duante used the shirt as a weapon, and sent Garrison to the outside.

The match devolved into a brawl in the ring, with bodies being tossed outside as fast as they could get back in. Who was legal was hard to tell, but it ended up being Darius and Garrison. Karter slid a chair to his partner while Sterling distracted the ref. Suddenly, Serpentico ran down and pulled the chair out of the ring, drawing Karter up the ramp. Darius then planted Garrison and got the win for his team.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Skye Blue vs. Rachael Ellering, Proving Ground matches

Tonight’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub will feature three Proving Ground matches featuring ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher, ROH Women’s Champion Athena, and ROH Tag Team Champions The Undisputed Kingdom in action.

Athena will take on Nicole Matthews, Fletcher will face Mentallo, and Mike Bennett & Matt Taven will take on Jason Geiger & London Lightning. If any of the challengers either draw or defeat their opponents, they earn a future title shot.

The seven-match card will also see Skye Blue take on Rachael Ellering, Anna Jay vs. an opponent to be named, Darius Martin & Action Andretti vs. Jon Cruz & Levi Night, and Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh against Dark Order’s John Silver & Alex Reynolds.

This will be Blue’s first match since losing in a Manitoba Massacre match to TBS Champion Willow Nightingale.

The majority of the matches were taped earlier this month in Winnipeg with other bouts filed in both Edmonton and Vancouver.

**********

After a rundown of the card, the show kicked off with the first of three Proving Ground matches on the card.

ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher defeated Mentallo in a Proving Ground Match

Always nice to see the ROH TV Champion on ROH TV! Fletcher was up against Mentallo in a Proving Ground match, which means if Mentallo could last 10 minutes or pin Fletcher, then he’d get a shot at the title.

Mentallo (pronounced Menta-Lo) was an old foe of Kenny Omega and Fletcher did not give him a chance to show off his stuff. Fletcher had no interest in running out the clock and pounded Mentallo in the corner with some stiff strikes and a cocky attempt at a cover.

Fletcher’s showboating was all over the match including one-handed stalling suplexes, standing covers and more importantly, total control of the pace of the match. Mentallo managed get in a few flurries of offense here and there, including a nice moonsault onto the floor, but most of this match was mostly Fletcher doing his thing and doing it very well.

Fletcher chose his moment and hit a spinning kick followed by a dragon suplex. Mentallo actually kicked out of a drop brainbuster suplex, surprising Fetcher and the audience. Pushing the time limit, Fletcher put Mentallo away with a piledriver to dash his hopes of a title shot.

Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh defeated Dark Order (Evil Uno & John Silver)

Sanjay Dutt accompanied Lethal and Singh to the ring. Evening the odds was Dark Order member Alex Reynolds, backing up Uno and Silver. Uno has been getting huge ovations during these Canadian-taped matches and tonight was no exception. Even standing across from Lethal, Uno was who the crowd wanted to see.

Singh standing across from Silver for a code of honor was honestly staggering. Singh was literally almost double Silver’s size. Uno and Lethal kicked things off, but as soon as Silver was in the ring, he demanded that Lethal tag in Singh. Uno remarked “that’s so stupid” outside the ring to Reynolds as the two attempted to square up. Even Singh looked a little uncomfortable taking on the smaller Silver.

Silver’s speed however gave him and edge and he was able to get a few shots in on Singh’s knee. Unfortunately, that knee was attached to a really large foot and that knocked Silver into next week. Uno knocked Lethal off the side of the ring, and he and Silver tried to double team Singh. Singh responded by chokeslamming Uno while Silver jumped on his back to try and put on a sleeper.

Lethal broke up the chaos though and nailed Silver with a big boot to knock him 7 feet down to the ring and get a quick pin.

-Backstage, the Iron Savages joined us for a promo. They are three of the biggest, baddest athletes in ROH and they are done getting passed by! They are the most massive, with the highest T, and they are peak male performance. Nothing to joke about. They are going to start working for themselves, sippin’ sauce, living hoss, and taking everyone to Titty City!

Anna Jay defeated Tara Zep

Jay has been on a bit of an ROH streak, winning three in a row, but Zep made her name in Deathmatches, so this was an interesting matchup.

Jay held control early in the match, keeping things slow and methodical, focusing on Zep’s neck. She slapped Zep from pillar to post and after a Gory Bomb, got a two count. This was only because Jay pulled up Zep at the last minute to slap a sleeper on her and get her fourth win in a row.

Skye Blue defeated Rachael Ellering

This was Blue’s first match since losing in a Manitoba Massacre match to TBS Champion Willow Nightingale. Ellering was still stinging from Maria’s insults last week and looking to prove that she is a wrestler worth watching.

Blue had no interest in a code of honor and went right into it. Ellering saw it coming though and the two traded headlocks in the centre of the ring. Ellering had the strength advantage over Blue and was putting a little extra emphasis on each move to make sure she got her point across.

Blue for her part was able to tap into some deep resiliency, reversing and protecting against Ellering. The one thing she couldn’t defend against was getting dropped on her head and Ellering did it with a piledriver suplex.

The two flipped and rolled into a series of two counts, neither one gaining the upper hand. This match would come down to who made the first mistake. That turned out to be Ellering who left herself open for big kick and Code Blue from Blue to get the pin.

-Anjelico and Serpentico joined us by vignette. They are frustrated but Serpentico told Anjelico they need to keop the vibes chill. Anjelico calmed down and warned Maria and Garrison and Karter that this was only the beginning.

Action Andretti & Darius Martin defeated Jon Cruz & Levi Knight

Andretti and Martin were a twosome this week, and amateur Ginger-Baker-impersonator Knight joined Cruz to take on Top Flight.

These four all ran a fast, high-action style, so it was a lot of fun to watch. Cruz played the comedy card off the top, but managed to stay on top against Andretti. Knight held his own against Martin as well, getting about 6 inches in height on the Top Flight member.

Knight and Cruz isolated Martin in their corner and traded tags and double teams to work him down. Knight did a lot of dancing, but also had a real aggressive streak, which he was able to turn on and off at a moments notice, keeping Martin on his toes.

Andretti got a hot tag and took Knight to the woodshed. Cruz tagged in and fared no better. Andretti and Martin double teamed Knight with a series of high kicks and managed to get the pin and pick up a well-earned win.

ROH World Tag Team Champions Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) defeated London Lighting & Jason Geiger in a Proving Ground Match

The second Proving Ground match of the night gave Lightning and Geiger a chance to win an ROH Tag Team Championship match. All they had to do was last 10 minutes, or eke out a win against the Undisputed Kingdom.

Geiger and Bennett started things off. Geiger has a ton of MMA and amateur wresting accolades, but they don’t mean much when you’re in the ring with Bennett. Geiger managed to ground and pound Bennett, keeping him off his feet. Lightning tagged in and managed to fight off both Bennett and Taven, surprising the champions.

It was mentioned that The Undisputed Kingdom are not undefeated in Proving Ground matches, and Lightning managed to score a near fall on Taven. Settling down, Taven and Bennett regained control though, isolating Lightning in the corner and unleashing a flurry of “your mom” comments for some reason.

Even though he was smaller than Taven and Bennett, Geiger was able to take both on and regain control of the ring. A shot from behind by Taven though put him on the mat and a Rockstar Supernova got the champs the pin.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena vs. Nicole Matthews in a Proving Ground Match

Athena has been reveling in her 500+ days as champion, but Matthews wasn’t a slouch. If she could last 10 minutes, or pin the champ, Matthews would get a title shot at a later date. Athena and Matthews have a long history, dating back to their days in SHIMMER, where Matthews holds a 2-0 record against Athena.

Matthews was not intimidated by Athena and worked the crowd off the top. Athena was quite annoyed by this and the two locked up. Matthews slowed the match to a snail’s pace, keeping Athena off her feet and unable to reverse the holds. Athena managed to wriggle free and exit the ring to regain her composure.

Athena nailed Matthews with a big forearm to switch the momentum, and hung her up on the ropes to deliver some big back blows. Athena locked Matthews in an abdominal stretch, but the crafty veteran was able to roll through and almost pick up a pin.

Matthews got another near fall with a northern lights suplex. It was looking like Matthews would be able to put away the champ but a double knee reversal gave control firmly back to Athena. A high-flying move off the top rope sealed the deal for Athena and gave her the win. That made the champ 51-0 since winning the title.

To add insult to injury, Athena put Matthews in a crossface after the bell until Queen Aminata ran down to make the save! Aminata sent Athena to the outside and stood tall over the literally Fallen Goddess as the show came to a close.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Kyle Fletcher vs. Blake Christian

Ring of Honor presents its weekly show on HonorClub tonight.

The men’s TV title will be on the line when Kyle Fletcher of the Don Callis Family is challenged by the GCW World Champion Blake Christian.

Also on the show, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will be in action. ROH is also advertising we will hear from her challenger at Supercard of Honor, Hikaru Shida, tonight as well.

Dalton Castle is also booked for this week’s episode as he continues to deal with having lost custody of The Boys to Johnny TV and Taya Valkyrie. Castle will wrestle Nick Comoroto.

Most of the matches advertised for this week’s episode were taped on March 16 at the Canadian Tire Center in Ottawa, ON, Canada. Spoilers from the show are available here.

ROH TV announced lineup for March 28, 2024 —

  • ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher defends against Blake Christian
  • Action Andretti & Top Flight (Darius Martin & Daunte Martin) vs KPK (Ahmed, Harun, & Abu)
  • Athena vs. Nikita
  • Evil Uno vs. JD Drake
  • Kiera Hogan vs. Diamante
  • Cole Karter & Griff Garrison w/Maria Kanellis-Bennett vs. Kaz Jordan & Victor Castella
  • Dalton Castle vs. Nick Comoroto
  • Colt Cabana & Brandon Cutler vs Rex Lawless & Bryce Donovan

With Supercard of Honor coming up on April 5th, there was little time to waste on tonight’s ROH TV, as things kicked off with the Women’s World Champion.

Athena defeated Nikita

This was a Proving Ground match, which meant if Nikita was able to last 10 minutes or win the match, she would earn herself a Women’s World Championship match at a later date.

Athena was surprised as Nikita took it right to her off the top of the match with some fast strikes and big forearms that had the champion on her heels. Nikita had Athena in a hold on the ropes which let Nikita stepping out of the ring. Athena took this opportunity to dive through the ropes and absolutely crush Nikita against the barricade.

The beatdown continued on the outside, with Athena regaining control of the match. Back in the ring, Athena got Nikita in a figure four style hold and Nikita quickly tapped out.

-After the match, Athena hit Nikita with a high drop kick. She dragged her to the corner in a tree of woe and delivered some vicious kicks. Athena was sending a message to her challenger at Supercard of Honor, Hikaru Shida.

The message was received as Shida ran down to the ring, kendo stick in hand, to run off the champion. The two stared each other down.

Cole Karter & Griff Garrison w/Maria Kanellis-Bennett defeated Kaz Jordan & Victor Castella

Maria came to the ring with her Boys, but did not have the stolen mask of Serpentico with her.

Jordan started things off against Garrison. The two were pretty evenly matched in both size and speed so it made for an entertaining start. Castella tagged in and was immediately cut off from his partner. Karter and Garrison double teamed him for a bit before settling back into the match.

Karter knocked Jordan off the apron and with a quick double team move, Karter and Garrison got the win.

Dalton Castle defeated Nick Comoroto

Castle sauntered down to the ring with his “backup Boys” in a much better mood than when we saw him last week. He fed his Boys like chickens, which made total sense, trust me. Castle took off his gear to reveal the trunks he wore when he won the world title.

While Comoroto didn’t have Castle’s flair for the dramatic, he did have a big set of arms that he used to start things off driving Castle into the corner. Both men dipped into their amateur wresting pasts with low take downs and long holds.

The size of Comoroto was a hurdle for Castle which he tried to counter by keeping the big man off his feet. Comoroto fought back though until Castle was able to plant him with a german suplex. Castle went for a Bangarang and got the three count for the win.

As the match ended Taya Valkyrie appeared on the ramp. She chastised Castle for calling her irresponsible for losing the Boys. She said she was glad she lost them because they were a couple of bad boys who were too much trouble. She said they misbehaved because Castle never loved them and he deserved… Johnny TV appearing in the ring and beating Castle down. The couple then stood over Castle, making out.

-After two weeks of Eddie Kingston promos, Mark Briscoe arrived with a response. Briscoe talked about the loss of his brother, and the loss he suffered in the AEW Continental Classic. Briscoe knows that Kingston has had his ups and downs over the years, just like Briscoe has. Briscoe noted that Kingston was going to dip into the “old Eddie Kingston” for the match, but at Supercard of Honor, Briscoe is going to show Kingston that he’s the man, 11 years to the day his brother first won the ROH title. At Supercard of Honor, they are going to man up.

Colt Cabana & Brandon Cutler defeated Rex Lawless & Bryce Donovan

Cutler started off against Lawless, but the larger Lawless made short work of him. Cutler tagged in Cabana to try and take a shot, but Lawless overpowered him as well. Through some double team misdirection, they finally got Lawless off his feet, and celebrated with some very 90’s dance moves.

Donovan tagged in and the comedic duo found nothing funny as Lawless and Donovan knocked them around the ring. Cutler got lawless up in a big airplane spin followed by a double clothesline out of the ring. They landed a big double slam on Donovan for the pin in a largely forgettable affair.

Action Andretti & Top Flight (Darius Martin & Daunte Martin) defeated KPK (Ahmed, Harun, & Abu)

Abu kicked things off with Andretti. This was an interesting match as the harder-hitting KPK team tried to counter their faster, more high flying opponents. KPK had a slight advantage, being a long-time team, but Top Flight and Andretti spent the last few weeks teaming together, so they were coming into their own as well.

Ahmed landed a kick to the spine on Daunte, and the ref struggled to keep control. Harun was tagged in and double teamed Daunte with Ahmed. KPK kept control of the match until a hot tag to Darius who cleaned house, taking out all three KPK members.

A Double DDT led to a near fall, but Harun kicked out. Momentum shafted to Top Flight and Andretti isolated on member of KPK and a split-legged moonsault from Andretti got the 1-2-3.

Kiera Hogan defeated Diamante

In this Women’s World TV Title Tournament re-match, both women had chips on their shoulders. Diamante came out on top in that match, so Hogan was looking to even the score.

Both women were pretty evenly matched in terms of physicality and movements, so it was no surprise when the match started with Diamante putting Hogan into a long headlock. Hogan reversed it into a headlock of her own, followed by a big shoulder block.

The technical skills of both competitors were on display as Diamante, who is normally a bit of a brawler, tried a series of holds and locks, trying to put Hogan down. Hogan powered out of an arm bar and ripped off her elbow pads, signaling to Diamante that things were about to go up a notch. Hard strikes followed as the two ran the ropes. Hogan hit a big leg drop for a near fall.

Diamante sent Hogan into the turnbuckle with a drop toe hold. She stomped a mudhole (like you do) into Hogan and tried again for a cover. Hogan kicked out, but Diamante was in control. She locked a painful abdominal stretch onto Hogan, who had the crowd behind her.

Hogan hit a series of hard attacks in the corner on Diamante. She tried to get a cover, but Diamante slid her foot under the rope. Hogan tried to get Diamante up on her shoulders, but Diamante raked her eyes. Hogan managed to fight back though and hit a snap suplex on Diamante for the win.

Evil Uno defeated JD Drake

It’s always nice to see JD Drake in action because he reminds me of a giant hobbit. Regardless, Drake started off this singles match trying to win over the crowd, who were chanting for Uno. After finding only boos, Drake had enough and slapped Uno.

The hossing began as the two big men locked up and… gyrated. There was a lot of gyration of the hips. Finally, a wrestling match broke out as Uno hit a surprise headscissors on Drake, knocking him out of the ring. Uno chopped Drake around the ring, soaking in a hero’s welcome from the fans. Drake finally got a chop of his own, turning the momentum in his favour.

Uno tried to chop Drake as he was standing in front of the post. Drake ducked and Uno shattered his hand on the ringpost. Drake tossed Uno back into the ring and tried to thumb Uno’s eyes through his mask. Drake went to put Uno away with a shining wizard but Uno kicked out.

The crowd began chanting, informing Drake that “he [screwed] up” by angering Uno. Uno aggressively dragged Drake around the ring, delivering some big right hands in the corner. 10 of them in fact. Uno stomped on Drake’s hands, completely in control of the match. Uno took a risk not putting Drake down right away, and paid for it with a big boot. Drake hit Uno with a big cannonball in the corner, but missed a splash from the top rope, giving Uno an opening to get the pin.

-Backstage, we saw #1 contender to the ROH Women’s World Championship, Hikaru Shida. She, like Athena, was tired of the lack of competition lately. Shida is downright excited to face Athena at Supercard of Honor. She told the fans to get ready, because Holy Shida has arrived!

ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher defeated Blake Christian

-Earlier in the evening, Lexy Nair was joined backstage by Lee Johnson. Johnson asked for this time to let us know that he is not here to take part, he’s here to take over… and take titles. He mentioned the TV Title Match, saying no matter who wins tonight, at Supercard of Honor, he’s got the next shot at the World TV Title, no matter who the champion is!

It was pretty fun to see the ROH TV title defended on ROH TV, and the crowd was loving it. The 11-0 Fletcher was clearly the favorite to retain here and face Lee Johnson at Supercard of Honor on April 5th.

The two men matched up pretty evenly, with the cockier Fletcher taking a few moments to play to the crowd, irritating Christian. Christian actually got the first pin attempt after a flurry of high-flying moves. Fletcher then knocked Christian outside. He tried a big dive but Christian fooled him, and zipped back into the ring for a bossberry into a DDT. A stunned Fletcher responded with a big side slam to try and slow Christian down.

Fletcher’s mouth was busted open as he clearly made a decision to take Christian more seriously. He nailed Christian with some hard strikes, knocking the wind out of him. Christian tried to fight back, but Fletcher was able to hit him with a big lariat to keep control.

Christian landed a surprise spear on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring) and the two men brawled on the outside. Throwing Fletcher back in the ring, Christian hit a big elbow from the top rope and pinned Fletcher 1-2-NO! Fletcher kicked out and Christian immediately tried the same move, but this time Fletcher was able to knock him off the top rope though.

Fletcher hit one hell of a kick in the corner and dropped Christian with a brain buster. Christian fought back and tried to get a pin of his own Fletcher was able to reverse into a piledriver and pin Christian to win the match. The crowd booed loudly, but Fletcher retains, and at Supercard of Honor he will face Lee Johnson for the TV title.

  • Matt Sydal vs. TJ Crawford

Live coverage begins at 7 p.m Eastern time.

The thing on everyone’s minds was the ROH Women’s World TV Championship Tournament semifinal matches, one of which kicked off the show.

Billie Starkz defeated Mercedes Martinez – ROH Women’s World TV Championship Tournament semifinal

Martinez had the size advantage over Starkz, but Starkz wasn’t going out quietly. Starkz went for the first pin attempt, but Martinez immediately reversed it into a pin of her own. Starkz kicked out, and quickly found herself in a stalling suplex. Martinex held Starkz vertical for almost 30 seconds leaving Starkz dazed after finally receiving the slam.

Last week, Diamante helped Martinez advance in the tournament and tonight, she lurked around the outside of the ring while Starkz tried to stay in the match. Oddly Starkz was able to use this to her advantage and control the pace of the match. Eventually she caught Martinez in a suplex and followed it up with a dive through the ropes. Starkz went for a second one, but Diamante pulled Martinez out of the way.

Martinez used the barricade to get some leverage on a modified DDT and quickly jumped back into the ring to avoid the countout. Martinez bowed cockily to the crowd while Starkz struggled to beat the count herself. Martinez dragged Starkz to the top rope for a superplex driver in the middle of the ring.

Momentum started swinging Starkz’ way with a big senton from the top rope. Martinez kicked out at two though, and the two traded high knees. Starkz made her way to the top rope, and Diamante tried to get involved. Starkz fought her off, giving Martinez an opening to hit a razor’s edge, but Starkz managed to get the shoulder up at two.

Starkz managed to get ahold of Martinez and roll her up for the pinfall to advance to the ROH Women’s TV Title Tournament finals at Supercard of Honor.

Queen Aminata defeated Red Velvet – ROH Women’s World TV Championship Tournament semifinal

Not wanting to waste a moment, the second Women’s World TV Championship Tournament Semifinal match got going right after the first wrapped up.

Aminata and Velvet locked up, both sporting Spider-Man style gear. Aminata has been on a roll in ROH, and kept Velvet on the mat with her strength advantage. Wrist locks, hammer locks and headlocks were the flavor of the day as Velvet managed to take control of the very technical match.

That quickly changed though as Aminata tried to get Velvet up in a powerbomb, but Velvet was able to reverse it into a headscissors takedown. Velvet tried a few times to take the match to the top rope, but Aminata kept her grounded. Aminata delivered a vicious kick to the head, knocking Velvet out of the ring. Velvet made it back in to break the count and eat a snap suplex.

Aminata began to dominate the match, but Velvet kicked out of everything that was thrown at her. Aminata found herself trapped in the corner taking hard shots from Velvet. Velvet was able to get the taller woman off her feet with a big bulldog, but Aminata kicked out at two.

Velvet delivered a hard spear on the edge of the ring (the hardest part of the ring) and winded Aminata enough to get a two-count. Recovering, Aminata got Velvet with a rolling suplex and the two women traded blows until a superkick from Aminata put Velvet down for good.

Aminata advances to the finals against Billie Starkz April 5th at Supercard of Honor!

-Backstage Lexi Nair was joined by Kiera Hogan. Hogan was feeling good about her win last week in a four way match. She called out Diamante, challenging her to a rematch of their ROH Women’s World TV Championship Tournament match next week.

Lee Johnson defeated London Lightning

Johnson was looking to extend his win streak to eight matches, but standing in his way was a big dose of Lightning.

Lightning looked good, keeping pace with Johnson’s technical style, even getting some offense in off the top. Lightning struck hard , but Johnson was able to use his speed to reverse the momentum and land a big dropkick.

The hometown crowd was behind Lightning, and an errant elbow caught Johnson right in the teeth. But nothing was going to stop Johnson from getting his eighth win. After a Big Shot Drop, Johnson was able to get the pin and the win.

-Lexi Nair interviewed Johnny TV and Taya Valkyrie backstage. Lexi asked how things were going with the Boys. Suddenly, Dalton Castle interrupted and Valkyrie admitted that they had actually lost the boys… because of a bear. They did not elaborate on this, except to say it was a big bear. Castle seemed to take this to mean the Boys were dead and wailed sadly. But Nair pointed off screen revealing four more Boys. a dejected Dalton referred to them as “single-use boys that you throw out when you’re done.” Lexi warned Castle not to interrupt her interviews anymore and so he left.

Hikaru Shida defeated Rachael Ellering

After the entrances, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena came to ringside and pulled up a chair to observe the action and scout former AEW Women’s World Champion, Shida.

Ellering tried a shoulder block, but Shida avoided it. Ellering tried a new tactic with a side slam, but Shida bounced back up to throw Ellering into the corner, where she delivered 10 big shots to the head. Ellering slid out of the ring to compose herself, and Shida followed, driving her head into the ring post.

Shida then threw Ellering into Athena, who did not think it was funny. Ellering used this distraction as a chance to throw Shida back into the ring and deliver a senton bomb. The aggressive Ellering took advantage of the distraction Athena’s presence was causing and drove her knee into Shida’s spine. Outside, Athena started looking around, as if waiting for someone.

A running knee from Shida stunned Ellering, allowing Shida to hit a dropkick from the top rope. The two traded blows until Ellering tried to put Shida down with a TKO. Shida kicked out, as Athena yelled “finish the job” to Ellering from the outside.

After a brainbuster, Shida landed a Katana kick and pinned Ellering for the win. Athena moved back up the ramp, looking a little scared of what she had seen.

-Backstage, Diamante grabbed a mic from Lexi Nair and accepted Diamante’s earlier challenge.

Matt Sydal defeated TJ Crawford

Local boy Crawford got a big ovation from the crowd but that was about all the help he got. Within seconds, Sydal had him in a Surfboard submission, but Crawford refused to quit.

Crawford’s strength kept the speedier Sydal on the ground as he hit a big suplex into a chin lock. The educated feet of Sydal came into play though and Sydal caught him with a big spinning heel kick. Sydal tried a brainbuster, but Crawford kicked out at two.

After a big jumping knee, Sydal hit a meteora from the top rope and Crawford stayed down for the 1,2,3.

-In the locker room, an emotional Eddie Kingston cut a promo. He said that he got a call from his good friend, former ROH Champion, Homicide. Eddie said that Homicide told him that he hasn’t been himself. The Old Eddie Kingston would have beaten Okada on Dynamite. Kingston promised to bring the “Old Eddie, the one who doesn’t care about life” to Supercard of Honor against Mark Briscoe. Kingston said that Briscoe better bring it, or he won’t be held responsible for what he does to him.

Mina Shirakawa defeated Anna Jay

The night’s Main Event was Jay’s ROH debut and she entered to a big ovation. Shirakawa was also making her ROH debut, coming all the way from Stardom to dance and compete, in that order.

These two had as much charisma as they did skill, and it made for an exciting matchup. Shirakawa had the edge early on, but Jay fought back with a running neckbreaker. Shirakawa began working Jay’s leg, trying to keep the bigger woman off her feet. Still working the knee, Shirakawa avoided getting knocked off the apron by Jay, and hit a jumping superkick to try for a pin.

Jay finally turned the tides though and delivered a few big kicks of her own. A razor-thin two count ensued and Shirakawa stayed alive long enough to knock Jay loopy with a hard set of strikes. The two staggered to their feet, trading punches until Shirakawa managed to catch Jay’s leg and drag her down into a figure four. Jay made it to the ropes, breaking the hold.

A dropkick from the top rope by Shirakawa stunned Jay and gave Shirakawa time to set up her finisher. Jay took advantage of the showboating and locked Shirakawa in a sleeper. Playing possum, Shirakawa dragged Jay to the ground then quickly flipped her for a pin, getting the win in her ROH debut!

Next Week: Keira Hogan takes on Diamante in an ROH Women’s World TV Championship Tournament rematch.
