Jay White declares for AEW Owen Hart Foundation tournament

Image: AEW

The 2025 men’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament continues to be loaded up by AEW.

Wednesday’s Dynamite saw the third entrant in the last three weeks declare for the expected eight-man field in former IWGP World Champion Jay White.

White declared for the annual tournament in a backstage promo with Renee Paquette, saying he wants to win the tournament and then go on to challenge for the AEW World title at July’s All In Texas.

It will be his second straight year entering “The Owen” as he defeated Rey Fenix in the first round last year before falling to Hangman Page in the semifinals.

White joins former AEW World Champion Page and former International Champion Will Ospreay in the tournament for which the start date is still unknown. It also hasn’t been formally announced that the winner will earn their title shot at All In Texas.

White will return to singles action for just the third time this year as part of Saturday’s Collision against Kevin Knight.

Hangman Page declares for AEW Owen Hart Foundation tournament

And then, there were two.

During Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, former AEW World Champion Hangman Page announced that he is throwing his hat into the ring as part of this year’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

Page delivered the news in a backstage promo, saying that he promised Swerve Strickland will never become AEW World Champion but that his focus can’t be one man but on himself. He said a lot of people are jumping the gun and getting their title shots so he is joining the party.

It will be the second straight Owen Hart tournament for Page as he advanced to the finals in 2024 with wins over Jeff Jarrett and Jay White before succumbing to Bryan Danielson.

Page joins Will Ospreay who officially declared last week, leaving six competitors remaining. No women’s entrants have been announced as of now.

The date and format for this year’s tournament have yet to be announced. Starting with last year’s tournament, the winner earns a future World title shot.

Mariah May wins AEW women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament, attacks Toni Storm

Mariah May had a newsworthy evening on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, both by winning the women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament and then by violently turning on her friend and future opponent Toni Storm afterward.

May defeated Willow Nightingale in the night’s main event to take home the trophy, ceremonial title belt and title shot against Storm at August’s All In at London’s Wembley Stadium. May picked up the win after countering a fireman’s carry into a pin attempt to get the victory.

The competitive match wasn’t without its controversy as a sweatshirt-clad Stokely Hathaway tried to attack Nightingale which led to rival Kris Statlander nearly knocking her out with a kick. However, Nightingale kicked out of a running knee strike to rally before falling in defeat.

Afterward, May celebrated with Storm and they ran up the stage together to pose with the Cup and title belt. Nearly immediately, May grabbed the title and nailed Storm, bloodying her up. She then whipped both Storm and Luther repeatedly before throwing Luther off the stage through a table.

She then took Storm’s infamous shoe and repeatedly hit her with it in the head, only increasing the blood pouring out of her head. She then shoved referee Aubrey Edwards down as she attempted to break it up before kissing Storm’s bloody head and posing to end the show.

The 25-year-old began her AEW run in January and nearly immediately began an angle with Storm who she said she idolized which eventually morphed into Storm’s current “Timeless” character.

Bryan Danielson wins men’s Owen Hart tournament, earns AEW World title shot at All In

Bryan Danielson became the third-ever winner of the men’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, earning a shot at AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland at August’s All In.

To do so, Danielson had to defeat rival Hangman Page in the finals. He pulled out all the stops, even hitting a springboard somersault to the outside of the ring in the match’s later stages. Danielson was bloodied during the match as was Page.

Referee Paul Turner got knocked out during the match which led to Page whipping Danielson with his belt while he was down. That brought special enforcer Jeff Jarrett down to the ring to help prevent further damage. After Page shoved Jarrett down, Jarrett revealed he had a referee shirt on underneath and he then took over for Turner.

After a fevered last few minutes that saw Page nearly submit Danielson with his own LeBell Lock, Danielson used a pinning counter to get the victory in front of the Calgary, Alberta, Canada, crowd.

Danielson is now 2-1-1 against Page, having won his last two.

After the match, Danielson was presented with the Owen Cup in the ring in addition to the ceremonial title belt followed by speeches by Martha Hart. He joins Adam Cole (2021) and Ricky Starks (2022) as past men’s winners.

Danielson earned his way into the finals with a win over Shingo Takagi in the quarterfinals and then PAC in the semifinals while Page defeated Jarrett and then Jay White, respectively.

Unless there is a title change between now and Sunday, August 25th, Danielson will face reigning champion Swerve Strickland at London’s Wembley Stadium. Strickland is coming off a match of the year candidate against Will Ospreay at June’s Forbidden Door and addressed Danielson in a promo after the match.

The two have wrestled in AEW before with Danielson defeating Strickland in October 2023.

Page was attempting to get another shot at his blood rival Strickland and stormed out after the match.

Jeff Jarrett honored to help introduce Owen Hart to new generation of fans

Jeff Jarrett is grateful for the role he’s gotten to play in AEW’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

As one of Owen’s best friends in wrestling, Jarrett was a fan-favorite in this year’s tournament and gave an emotional speech about what his late friend meant to him. Though Jarrett lost to Hangman Page in the first round, he’ll still be part of the tournament finals when he serves as the special guest enforcer for Bryan Danielson vs. Page.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think we’d be here,” Jarrett told Sports Illustrated. “I get to introduce my friend to an entirely new generation of wrestling fans.”

AEW has partnered with the Owen Hart Foundation to present the tournament annually since 2022. The 2024 finals are being held in Calgary on Dynamite this Wednesday with Danielson vs. Page on the men’s side and Willow Nightingale vs. Mariah May on the women’s side.

The Owen Hart Foundation was started by Dr. Martha Hart after her husband’s death in 1999. It supports local, national, and international communities through scholarships, housing, and partnership programs. Jarrett told Sports Illustrated he loves that Owen is being recognized for who he was both as a person and as a wrestler.

“It makes me very emotional. All the way back in May of 1999, I never thought that all these years later I would be continuing my in-ring career, which [is] a blessing beyond my wildest imaginations, or that there would be this Owen Hart Foundation, which Owen’s wife created and does so much good for so many people all over the world. Owen’s children are grown up, and they represent their father so proudly,” Jarrett said.

“I love that Owen is being recognized as a father, a family man, a husband, a brother, and a professional wrestler. And we’re doing it in Calgary, a place that meant a lot to him.”

Jarrett & Owen were tag team partners together, holding the WWF Tag Team titles one time.

The winner of Danielson vs. Page earns an AEW World Championship shot against Swerve Strickland at All In next month. Jarrett had huge praise for Danielson in his Sports Illustrated interview, saying he believes Danielson is “the epitome of professional wrestling.”

“It’s the guy who eliminated me against the guy who I think doesn’t have a peer among current full-time, active wrestlers,” Jarrett said. “That is no disrespect toward anybody else, but I don’t think Bryan Danielson has a peer. He’s that good, the epitome of professional wrestling. His storytelling is off the charts, his passion, his physicality–Bryan can do it all. So I feel incredibly grateful and honored to be part of it.”

Hangman Page advances to Owen Hart Foundation tournament final on AEW Dynamite

The finals of the men’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament are now set after Hangman Page defeated Jay White in their semifinal match on Saturday’s AEW Collision.

Page now moves on to face Bryan Danielson on this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with the winner moving onto to challenge AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland at August’s All In.

A twist that occurred after the show is that Jeff Jarrett will now be special enforcer after he got involved during Saturday’s match.

Danielson and Page have squared off three times in AEW with the two going to a one-hour time limit draw in December 2021. The two then rematched a few weeks later for Page’s then-World title. After going 0-1-1, Danielson finally got a win in the first round of the 2022 Grand Slam Tournament of Champions.

The end of Saturday’s match came when White and Page exchanged counters and White got tossed into the referee, knocking him down. Page got a visual pin and then decided to remove his belt to order to choke and whip White with it.

Jarrett then came out to grab the belt but got tossed by another referee. In the chaos, Christian Cage entered the ring and speared White, leading to Page recovering and hitting a Buckshot clothesline to get the pin and win with the original referee counting.

The reason for Cage’s interference is that he and The Patriarchy are in hot pursuit of White and the Gunns’ AEW Trios titles. White had previously made some disparaging comments about the group which Cage retorted earlier on the Collision episode.

Page was bloodied during the match and continued the new-look aggressive style he displayed against Jarrett in the semifinals, his first match since March’s AEW Revolution.

Page, a former AEW World Champion, has feuded with Strickland since last October’s WrestleDream while Danielson has squared off with Strickland once, defeating him on an October 2023 edition of Dynamite.

Mariah May advances to women’s Owen Hart tournament final on AEW Dynamite

Image: AEW

Following Friday’s AEW Rampage, Mariah May is one step closer to a shot at AEW Women’s World Champion and friend Toni Storm.

In a semifinal match, May defeated former AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida to advance to the women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament finals. She will now face last year’s winner Willow Nightingale on this Wednesday’s Dynamite from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with the winner challenging Storm at August’s All In from London’s Wembley Stadium.

In her brief AEW tenure, May has yet to secure a shot at the title before while Nightingale’s last opportunity was against then-champion Shida last November. She also unsuccessfully faced Storm for the title at last year’s Forbidden Door.

How a May win and title opportunity would affect her relationship with her mentor Storm remains to be seen. Storm was at ringside for the match that saw May pick up the win with a pin counter to a Shida Katana attempt.

May defeated Saraya in the opening round while Shida defeated Serena Deeb to advance to the semifinals.

Here’s what is currently announced for this Wednesday’s show:

  • AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland returns
  • Women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament final: Mariah May vs. Willow Nightingale
  • Men’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament final: Bryan Danielson vs. Jay White or Hangman Page
  • Samoa Joe vs. Chris Jericho Stampede street fight

Hangman Page makes return on AEW Dynamite as Owen Hart Foundation tournament participant

Hangman Page is back.

Page ended up being The Elite’s wildcard pick in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament, returning to in-ring action on AEW Dynamite. He ended up defeating Jeff Jarrett after giving him a deadeye. He will now wrestle on Saturday’s AEW Collision, where he will face Jay White in a tournament semifinal. The winner of that match will face Bryan Danielson in the finals on next week’s AEW Dynamite in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

After the match, The Young Bucks congratulated Hangman Page backstage on his victory and offered him the fifth spot in their upcoming Blood and Guts match. Page instead grabbed Matthew Jackson and told him that he wasn’t The Elite’s puppet anymore and he was going to focus on winning the Owen Hart tournament. The embarrassed Young Bucks then ordered the cameras off.

Page had taken time off following AEW Revolution, where he lost a three-way match against Swerve Strickland and Samoa Joe in a match that had been for the AEW World title. Soon after, The Young Bucks announced Page had been suspended from The Elite in storyline.

A vignette featuring Page aired on AEW Collision Saturday, teasing a return.

Bryan Danielson, Mariah May advance in AEW Owen Hart Foundation tournaments

Bryan Danielson and Mariah May have made it to the next round.

The two won their qualifying matches at Sunday’s Forbidden Door to reach the semifinals of the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournaments respectively. May was the first to advance during the Forbidden Door Zero Hour pre-show after catching Saraya in a pin. On the main card, Bryan Danielson managed to defeat NJPW’s Shingo Takagi, submitting him with an armbar to make it to the next round.

May will now move on to face Hikaru Shida in the semifinals of the women’s tournament. The winner of that match will face the winner between Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander in the finals.

In the men’s tournament, Danielson will now immediately move on to face PAC at AEW Dynamite Beach Break on July 3. Jay White, meanwhile, will face the winner of a match between Jeff Jarrett and a “wild card” of The Elite’s choosing.

The winners of both tournaments will be decided on the July 10 edition of Dynamite, which will take place at the Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The tournament winners will also receive world championship matches that will be held at All In on August 25.

Jay White advances in men’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament

Jay White has advanced in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

White defeated Rey Fenix on Wednesday to advance to the semifinals of the tournament, winning after catching Fenix with the bladerunner. He will take on the winner between Jeff Jarrett and a ‘wild card’ entrant that the Elite will be choosing on next week’s AEW Dynamite Beach Break event.

Besides White, PAC is the only other person to advance in the men’s tournament so far. He will meet the winner of the match between Shingo Takagi and Bryan Danielson at Forbidden Door this Sunday.

In the women’s tournament, Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander Have advanced to the semifinals and will also face off at Dynamite: Beach Break next week. Other matches in the tournament still set to take place are Deonna Purrazzo vs. Hikaru Shida and Mariah May vs. Saraya.

The finals of both tournaments will be held on AEW Dynamite on July 10. The winners will receive World title matches for All In on August 25.

Owen Hart Foundation tournament quarterfinal set for next AEW Collision

A match in the women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament is set for the next AEW Collision.

Next week’s show in Buffalo, New York will see Deonna Purrazo face Hikaru Shida in a quarterfinal match. This would mark Shida’s return to AEW/ROH since losing to Athena at Supercard of Honor during WrestleMania 40 weekend. Purrazzo, however, is coming off a big win after defeating Thunder Rosa in a no disqualification match earlier this month.

So far in the tournament, Willow Nightingale has defeated Serena Deeb and Kris Stantlander defeated Nyla Rose to advance to the semifinals, where they will meet.

Coming off the loss, Deeb has issued a challenge for next week’s Collision. In a promo, she talked about suffering three big losses as of late and promised to start picking up wins in order to prove to everyone, including herself, just who exactly she is.

Here is the card for next week’s Collision:

  • Owen Hart Foundation tournament opening round: Deonna Purrazzo vs. Hikaru Shida
  • Serena Deeb has issued a challenge

Willow Nightingale advances in AEW women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament

Image: AEW

Former TBS Champion and 2023 women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament winner Willow Nightingale has advanced to the semifinals of this year’s tournament.

Nightingale defeated Serena Deeb in the main event of Friday’s AEW Rampage to move to the semifinals against former friend, rival and fellow former TBS Champion Kris Statlander.

Nightingale picked up the win after a pounce and her trademark power bomb to end the first-ever meeting between herself and Deeb. The date for her eventual clash with Statlander hasn’t been announced.

After Nightingale lost her TBS title to Mercedes Mone at May’s Double or Nothing, Statlander turned on Nightingale after the match and has continued to align with Stokely Hathaway.

On the other side of the women’s bracket, Mariah May will face Saraya while Hikaru Shida will go one-on-one with Deonna Purrazzo — both of which don’t have announced dates as of this writing.

The finals of the tournament will be on Wednesday, July 10th in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

If Nightingale wins, she will become the first-ever two-time winner of the tournament.

Danielson vs. Shingo, MJF vs. Hechicero added to AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

Two new matches have been added to Forbidden Door on June 30.

Bryan Danielson and Shingo Takagi will face off in a Owen Hart Foundation tournament quarterfinal. That match was announced during Wednesday’s Dynamite main event, which Danielson was doing commentary for. He said he couldn’t wait for Dragon vs. Dragon and loved the idea of facing Takagi in the first round.

This will be the second time the two have met in a singles match. Their previous encounter took place at a Dragon Gate USA event back in 2010, which Danielson won.

After MJF defeated Rush in the open on Wednesday’s Dynamite, The Cage of Agony appeared on the screen. Brian Cage told MJF that Nicholas and Matthew Jackson had made a match beteween MJF and Hechicero for Forbidden Door. However, Tony Schiavone said only Tony Khan or Christopher Daniels could make that match, and by the end of the show it was not confirmed.

Tony Khan ended up making the match official hours after Dynamite had ended:

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 announced lineup —

  • AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland defends against Will Ospreay
  • Ladder match for the vacant TNT Championship: Konosuke Takeshita vs. Mark Briscoe vs. Dante Martin

  • IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: Jon Moxley defends against Tetsuya Naito
  • Owen Hart Foundation men’s tournament quarterfinal: Bryan Danielson vs. Shingo Takagi
  • MJF vs. Hechicero
  • Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Orange Cassidy

PAC, Kris Statlander advance in AEW Owen Hart Foundation tournaments

Image: AEW

Both the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournaments kicked off on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite with both PAC and Kris Statlander advancing, respectively.

PAC upended Claudio Castagnoli in the main event, getting a crucifix pin to end a pinning sequence between both men. He now advances to take on the winner of the newly-announced Bryan Danielson vs. Shingo Tagaki bout that will take place at this month’s Forbidden Door.

In the women’s tournament, former TBS Champion Kris Statlander advanced with her victory over former AEW Women’s Champion Nyla Rose after a tombstone piledriver. She will now take on the winner of rival Willow Nightingale vs. Serena Deeb which takes place on this Friday’s Rampage.

On the other side of the men’s bracket, Jay White will do battle with Rey Fenix on next Wednesday’s Dynamite while Jeff Jarrett will take on a wild card participant at a date to be announced.

On the other side of the women’s bracket, Mariah May will face Saraya while Hikaru Shida will go one-on-one with Deonna Purrazzo — both of which don’t have dates yet.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz, as MJF’s music hits and we’re ready for our commercial free opening contest of the evening.

MJF defeated Rush

(Very solid return match for MJF, who is wrestling for the first time since World’s End. Rush controlled a majority of this, as the crowd was cheering for MJF throughout to make the comeback. Once it was on, there wasn’t the usual MJF underhanded tactics to give him the win, instead he strung together a strong list of moves to put away Rush.)

Slugfest out the gate, as Rush tried a drop down, but MJF opted for a Fargo Strut and Rude Swivel. Chop battle was going to start, but MJF went to the eyes to pop the crowd. Rush got a cheap shot headbutt, busting open MJF’s mouth, as he took control. Rush posed and kept MJF grounded in the corner, but missed the Bulls Horns. After a quick flash roll ups, MJF spiked Rush with a cradle DDT for a close two. MJF tried a float over, but landed awkwardly, only to sucker Rush in with a snap Storm Zero like piledriver, showing he was playing possum. Taking too much time, Rush caught a charging MJF with an overhead belly to belly into the corner. MJF tried to leap off the second, but slipped and Rush threw a right hand, followed by a straightjacket piledriver for two.

The fight went outside, where Rush repeatedly slammed MJF into the barricade. Rush slid a chair in the ring, but it was to turn Paul Turner’s attention, so he could whip and choke MJF with the cable wire. Rush ripped up a fans sign before missing a Bulls Horns and eating a drop toe hold into a chair. Both fought on the apron, this time, Rush hit an overhead belly to belly to the floor. Back inside, Rush called for the finish, but took too long and was decked by a MJF lariat. Spinebuster into punches in bunches by MJF, who hit the Heatseaker followed by a stalling brainbuster for the clean victory.

Brian Cage, The Gates of Agony & Hechicero were applauding on the big screen and said the EVP’s have made the match official for Forbidden Door, MJF vs. Hechicero. The crowd didn’t really react all that much by this announcement, but I think it’ll be a fun PPV match.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Kyle O’Reilly, Orange Cassidy, Dante Martin & Mark Briscoe, who similar to last week, got amped up in his promo before Jack Perry walked into the shot, but left just as quick. Briscoe told him to get the hell out of here before diving back into his promo, which hyped up O’Reilly & Martin, who left with Briscoe. Paquette was then given a friendship bracelet by Cassidy. I hope these Mark Briscoe promos are going to be a weekly segment, they’re hysterical.

Swerve Strickland & Will Ospreay Face to Face

Huge ovations for both men as Excalibur talked about the “healthy friendship” they have for each other. Ospreay said the last time they were in the ring together, he snapped the AEW World Title from him last week and talked about being a World Champion on three different continents at the same time. Strickland is going to find out what the rest already knows, Ospreay is the best wrestler in the world today, which Strickland disputed. Strickland asked if Ospreay is going to rely on Don Callis to win the title and Ospreay said he doesn’t need Callis or The Family, he can do this on his own. We then saw the Don Callis Family watching backstage. Ospreay talked about beating Kenny Omega, Kazuchika Okada, Shingo Takagi & Chris Jericho. While Strickland had a Hit Row, Ospreay had a Hit List (which was a great line) and said what if the “killshot” Strickland promised, is just a few centimeters off? Ospreay said whether it’s the Storm Breaker, Oscutter or Hidden Blade, Strickland will wake up the next morning with the pain without having the AEW World Title. Ospreay said if he decides to use the Tiger Driver 91, then Strickland won’t wake up at all.

Strickland laughed and said Ospreay is relying on “what ifs” and talked about all the friends Ospreay has, but Strickland doesn’t have any friends, as it’s what it took to become World Champion. Strickland asks what Ospreay will be if he breaks his arm or leg at the PPV? Strickland said you can break his limbs, shave his head, he doesn’t care, he’s still the mogul, the sacrifices are something Ospreay hasn’t done yet, not for his wife or son. Ospreay cut Strickland off and said never mention his son again and not to make this personal.

Nana stepped in between both and said both need to save everything they’ve got for Forbidden Door. Nana asked Whose House, but Ospreay said My House. Ospreay’s music his, but Strickland cut it off and asked what if he does want to make things personal? When it comes to the AEW World Title, it’s always personal, so when Ospreay goes home, send his regards to Al & Harry, again. Ospreay got in the face of Strickland, but we got trash talk and no punches.

Don Callis was backstage with his Family, as Trent Beretta said Ospreay just disrespected his family, no one does that. Callis calmed him down, saying it’ll be fine, he knows Ospreay better than his own mother, walking off with Beretta, leaving Takeshita & Fletcher without his services for the upcoming match.

Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, Orange Cassidy & Dante Martin defeated Roderick Strong, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher & Zack Sabre Jr. (w/Mike Bennett & Matt Taven)

(This was a smart time to catch up on the commercials you missed during the opening contest, as no matter where they picked up from picture in picture, it was action packed throughout. Commentary really put over how this was a preview to Forbidden Door, which, this was a wild party match, even better than last week’s six-man tag.)

Everyone not named Cassidy & Sabre slugged it out at the bell, as Cassidy took his sweet time to get ready, as Sabre allowed it. Fletcher didn’t, as he steamrolled Cassidy, before taking out Briscoe with a dive. O’Relly trapped Strong with a leg lock in the ropes, as Briscoe set up a chair in the ring, tried a dive, but was cut off by Takeshita. Cassidy cut him off, leaving Sabre to lock in a submission in the ropes as well. Briscoe managed his catapult dive, as Martin hit a massive hurricanrana on Takeshita before a double jump dive wiped out the pile outside.

Back from commercial, Cassidy & Sabre had a fast back and forth sequence, with Sabre nearly getting a snazzy roll up for two before applying a cravat. Blind tag from Takeshita, who leveled Cassidy with a haymaker, but Strong made the aggressive tag, upsetting Takeshtia. O’Reilly stepped between both and started throwing kicks before Strong connected on a back breaker. O’Reilly fires back, as he fought off Strong chops and snapped down the arm. Sabre & Martin make tags, as Martin shows off his athleticism, flying around, wiping out Fletcher who took the bullet for Takeshita. Fletcher & Takeshita hit a huge assisted avalanche powerbomb out of the corner, as things went to a second commercial.

Briscoe just made a hot tag when things returned, planting Takeshita with a rolling Death Valley Driver and Froggy Bow, as O’Reilly hit a top rope knee, Martin with a splash and Cassidy fell down from the top with a thumbs up for two. Cassidy wanted Orange Punch, but Sabre trapped the leg, allowing a Helluva Kick from Takeshita. The match completely breaks down with high impact moves from everyone until finally, Takeshita ate a Stundog Millionaire, dive from Martin, who also wiped out The Kingdom, Briscoe hit a Blockbuster from the apron, as back inside, Sabre & Cassidy had a series of counters before Sabre nearly got a pin off the European Clutch. O’Reilly & Cassidy hit a Total Elimination on Fletcher, as Cassidy fired off an Orange Punch on Strong to get the win. This match was jam packed with action.

Post match, Martin walked up the ramp, but was attacked by Jack Perry, who ran off while Briscoe made chase. Takeshita caught up and brawled with Briscoe to the back, while Sabre & Cassidy were left facing off in the ring.

-A video package for Mercedes Mone & Stephanie Vaquer is shown. Mone thanked Vaquer for sending her Zeuxis last week. Mone said she’s making history all over the globe, there’s a price to pay, when you mess with Mercedes Mone.

-Cameras caught up with Rush backstage where a hand was placed on his shoulder. It was Don Callis, who said something in Spanish before walking away. Rush was upset, but just stared down Callis’ direction.

The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) defeated The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) in an AEW Tag Team Title Eliminator

(Not sure if the crowd was tired after the previous match, but they seemed quiet for a lot of this, until the end, where it really picked up. This was the first time The Bucks have lost a standard tag match on TV since I believe early 2023, so with this win, The Acclaimed earn a future Tag Team Title shot.)

Caster’s rap never got going, as his mic was immediately cut off, as we saw Kazuchika Okada backstage fumbling around with controls, fake crying, saying he’s so sorry for pressing the wrong button…bitch. The Bucks attacked before the bell, but Caster & Bowens quickly took over. Match officially began, as Scissor Me Timbers connected, as Bowens started selling his taped-up hamstring, which Matthew dropkicked. Caster crashed and burned outside, as The Bucks took control during commercial.

Despite the bad wheel, Bowens made the hot tag when things returned, but ran wild too much and the leg went out after a Fame-Asser. Matthew fired off a superkick, but only got two. Hung up in the ropes, The Bucks hit the draping senton off the top, but Caster made the save. Bowens dodged the EVP Trigger and mounted a comeback, but again, The Bucks went after the leg with superkicks. The Bucks pumped up their shoes and hit a Superkick Party, but again Caster saved, only to be thrown outside. Bowens got free from the TK Driver, but Matthew took the ref and got a low blow. EVP Trigger connected, but for the third time, Caster broke it up.

Caster was dumped into the front row, as The Bucks hit the Motor City Machine Guns Made in Detroit finisher, but Bowens kicked out. Matthew tried to use a title belt, but Rick Knox took it from him, as Nicholas tried a belt shot, but decked his brother. Bowens hit The Arrival and Caster connected with The Mic Drop, giving The Acclaimed the victory. Daddy Ass hit the ring and celebrated post-match.

-Samoa Joe & HOOK are walking backstage where they were going to rush the Premier Athletes dressing room and Joe said he’s tired of dealing with them, so wants HOOK to be extra. They bust open the door, but they aren’t there, as a note challenging Joe, HOOK & Shibata to a six man on Collision is issued. Joe accepts and Shibata said he’s going to beat up those goofy bitches.

Timeless Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa’s AEW Women’s Title Contract Signing

Mariah May is the host of the signing and introduces both ladies to the ring. May said no matter what happens, she loves both of them. Shirakawa cuts her off and tells her to shut up, saying in Stardom, Storm was a gem and in AEW, has become a star. As AEW Women’s Champion, she’s gotten soft and weak, as everybody says We Want Mina. She’s going to take her title and her girl before signing the contract. Storm said she’ll slap Shirakawa’s tits off if she raises her voice to May ever again. If Shirakawa wants Toni Storm, this buffet is wide up, so grab a bowl and line up. Storm has advice, chin up, tits out and watch for the shoe, signing the contract as well. May said it’s official and Shirakawa demands that she must choose between the two.

Saraya & Harley Cameron charge out from the back saying they’re so sick of them and she didn’t come alone. Anna Jay pulled Shirakawa to the outside and attacked, as back inside, May & Storm were laid out, as Cameron & Jay set up the table in the corner. Storm hit the ring, leveling everyone with the shoe, was about to deliver Sweet Cheek Music in the corner, but Jay & Cameron pulled her to safety and Storm crashed through the table. Shirakawa & May were shown at the top of the ramp watching, as The Outcasts & Jay celebrated ringside.

-The Owen Hart Cup Tournament video package is shown, Claudio Castagnoli vs. PAC, Bryan Danielson vs. Shingo Takagi, Jay White vs. Rey Fenix & Jeff Jarrett vs. a Wild Card are the men’s brackets.

Willow Nightingale vs. Serena Deeb, Nyla Rose vs. Kris Statlander, Deonna Purrazzo vs. Hikaru Shida & Mariah May vs. Saraya are the women’s bracket.

Kris Statlander (w/Stokely Hathaway) defeated Nyla Rose in an Owen Hart Foundation Cup Quarterfinal Match

(I wish we saw more of this, as it suffered from having a commercial break and coming back just when it started to really get going. Perhaps a rematch down the line potentially, but I wish the first match in the Women’s Owen Hart Cup got more time, but this late in the show, I get it.)

The crowd was cheering for Rose in this one, who showed off her power early, mowing down Statlander with a cross body early. Rose took too long to follow up, which allowed Statlander to send her crashing to the floor into commercial.

When things returned, Rose turned Statlander inside out with a clothesline and follow up corner cannonball for two. Statlander escaped the Beast Bomb and decked Rose with a great looking scissors kick for a near fall of her own. Statlander went up top, but missed the 450 and ate a Rose flying elbow for two. Both fought to the corner, where Statlander hit a charging boot and a wildly impressive Tombstone piledriver for the victory.

Post match, Hathaway said if Nightingale ever puts her hands on him, she’ll be pop locking in a jail cell like Justin Timberlake. Nightingale appeared on the big screen and congratulated Statlander on the win, but said when she defeats Serena Deeb on Rampage, there will be no more running in the second round.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Private Party, who said they’re taking their momentum from attacking Chris Jericho & The Learning Tree last week into their match on Rampage. Jericho loudly walks in and said he still wants to give his branches a lesson. When Jericho was a luchador, he always avoided the piledriver and said whenever the move was suggested to him, he would say, that doesn’t work for me, brother.

Daniel Garcia defeated Rhett Titus

Titus rushed Garcia at the bell and mocked his dance, but ate a shotgun dropkick for his troubles. Rolling Twist and Shouts from Garcia, who slapped on a guillotine choke before planting him with an Implant DDT for the quick win. Matt Menard, who was on commentary, was attacked by The Gates of Agony post-match, as Brian Cage & Hechicero hit the ring to put the boots to Garcia. A triple swinging powerbomb by the Cage of Agony, until MJF ran to the ring and tackled Hechicero. MJF bit the face of Cage and hit double low blows on Liona & Kaun. The numbers were too much, as Cage hit a German suplex, as Hechicero pounced and wrenched at the arm. Will Ospreay then ran to the ring to even the numbers, as a double handspring Pele kick connected, leaving Ospreay & MJF bumping into each other and facing off to loud Holy Sh*t chants. MJF left through the crowd, as Garcia stared at Ospreay’s International Title before being helped up. They just teased about five different matches in the last 60 seconds of TV.

**********

-Renee Paquette approached Will Ospreay backstage and asked what that was about with MJF and Ospreay said he doesn’t care about MJF, he was there to help Daniel Garcia. Brian Cage stormed in and was held back by security, challenging for an International Title match on Collision and Ospreay accepting. Cage was taken away and Ospreay gave a long look at his title. You almost get a sense that the title defenses will almost catch up to Ospreay over time, as his mind should be more focused on Swerve Strickland and the AEW World Title.

PAC defeated Claudio Castagnoli in an Owen Hart Foundation Cup Quarterfinal Match

Fast start by PAC, who hit quick dropkicks, as Castagnoli regrouped outside, but it was a way to sucker PAC in, who made chase, but ate a pop-up uppercut. Bryan Danielson, who is on commentary for this main event, was informed by Excalibur that his Owen Hart Quarterfinal Match will take place against Shingo Takagi at Forbidden Door. Castagnoli controlled the action throughout the entire commercial break.

Back from picture in picture, PAC side stepped a charge and Castagnoli posted himself in the process. A hurricanrana off the apron and Asai Moonsault hit perfectly by PAC that even Danielson had to praise it. Castagnoli looked like he was going to catch a PAC moonsault off the apron, but PAC spun it into a DDT and top rope springboard elbow back inside for two. Both men traded strikes, as PAC wanted a Shooting Star Press, but rolled through and was decked by a violent Castagnoli uppercut for two. Castagnoli did the Giant Swing, as PAC was flailing around the entire ten revolutions before being leveled by another lariat for a near fall. Ricola Bomb countered into the Brutalizer on Castagnoli, who was standing, started to fade, but Castganoli rolled out into a Sharpshooter, transitioned into a Crossface. We got a crazy amount of pin attempts from both men, until it was PAC who got the crucifix for the flash pin.

Post match, PAC was going to show respect, but Castagnoli shrugged it off, looking at Danielson on commentary, who said, sometimes those things happen. PAC then stared down Danielson to end the show, as it’s a potential semi-final match in the Owen Hart Cup if Danielson makes it past Shingo at Forbidden Door.
