Meiko Satomura challenges Roxanne Perez for WWE NXT Roadblock

The first match for NXT Roadblock appears to be set following the end of Tuesday’s NXT.

After Meiko Satomura and Roxanne Perez defeated Katana Chance and Kayden Carter, Satomura grabbed the microphone. She told Perez that since she did something for Perez, perhaps she could do something for her, pointing to the NXT Women’s Championship. Perez said it would be an honor as the two posed to end the program.

As the two were posing, announcer Vic Joseph repeatedly pushed that Satomura had now become “a roadblock” for Perez. Earlier in the show, it was announced that NXT Roadblock would take place on the March 7 edition of NXT.

On last week’s NXT, Chance and Carter confronted Perez, upset that they had lost the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles to Kiana James and Fallon Henley at Vengeance Day. Perez was sympathetic, but Chance and Carter continued to be upset and ultimately told Perez to find a tag team partner for next week. After Perez made a phone call, she announced that Satomura would be teaming with her.

Roxanne Perez defeats Mandy Rose for WWE NXT Women’s Championship

Roxanne Perez is the new NXT Women’s Champion.

Perez defeated Mandy Rose in a match that was set up at the start of Tuesday’s NXT. Perez won clean, hitting Rose with the pop rocks for the win. After the match, the show closed with Perez celebrating with the title in the entranceway as Rose looked on in the ring, dejected.

At the start of Tuesday’s NXT, Perez came to the ring to talk about her Iron Survivor Challenge win this past Saturday. Grayson Waller interrupted, but was eventually chased away by Bron Breakker. Perez was then jumped from behind by Mandy Rose. After Perez recovered, she said that she didn’t want to wait for New Year’s Evil and wanted her match tonight. Rose agreed, setting up the main event for later in the show.

With the loss, Mandy Rose’s title reign ended after 413 days. She defeated Raquel Gonzalez for the title back at NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver Night 1 on April 7, 2021.

Mandy Rose becomes unified Women’s Champion at NXT Worlds Collide

Mandy Rose has unified the NXT and NXT UK Women’s Championship.

The 32-year-old won a triple threat match at NXT Worlds Collide on Sunday against Blair Davenport and Meiko Satomura. Rose entered the contest as the NXT Women’s Champion while Satomura held the NXT UK belt. The victory was Rose’s eighth defense of her title and the first time she’s won the NXT UK championship.

The finish of the match saw Satomura deliver a Scorpion Rising to Davenport before Rose hit both her opponents with Kiss By The Rose and pinned Davenport.

Satomura’s reign finishes at 451 days and nine successful title defenses. Alba Fyre (then known as Kay Lee Ray) held the title for 649 days but only defended it on six occasions during that time.

Rose becomes the fifth and possibly final wrestler to win the NXT UK Women’s Championship. Rhea Ripley was the inaugural champion in 2018 before dropping it to Toni Storm after a 139-day reign.

Two NXT title matches set for August 16 Heatwave special

Two title matches have been set for NXT’s next television special.

It was announced on Tuesday’s NXT that Bron Breakker will defend the NXT Championship against JD McDonagh at Heatwave, which will air on the August 16 edition of NXT. Mandy Rose, meanwhile, will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Zoey Stark.

Breakker confronted McDonagh on tonight’s show and revealed he would be defending the title against McDonagh in three weeks, and there would be a summit on next week’s NXT to make things official. McDonagh headbutted Breakker, but Breakker struck him back to end the segment.

On Tuesday’s show, Stark came out to open the show and mentioned the title match at Heatwave. Toxic Attraction came out, which led to a match being made for later in the show between Stark and Gigi Dolin. Stark defeated Dolin. After the match, Cora Jade came out from the crowd and attacked Stark. However, Roxanne Perez, who Jade turned on two weeks ago, came out to make the save.

Rose then used the opportunity to pin Perez to retain.

After the match, Jade continued the assault on Perez, attacking her with her skateboard.

Updated lineup for NXT Stand & Deliver

LA Knight will meet Gunther at Stand & Deliver, while the NXT Women’s Championship match will now be a fatal four way.

Knight and Gunther will meet following a confrontation on tonight’s NXT. After winning the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, Shirai and Ray told Toxic Attraction that instead of cashing in their NXT Women’s Tag Team title match, they would add themselves to the NXT Women’s title match at Stand & Deliver.

The LA Knight and Gunther match was set up tonight after Gunther had defeated Duke Hudson. Gunther was cutting a promo upset that he had been overlooked when Knight came out. Gunther insulted Knight, saying that his mouth got him championship matches, but has never been able to get the win. Knight said he came out here to challenge Gunther and started to attack him. The rest of Imperium attacked Knight, but MSK arrived and took care of Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel as Knight eliminated Gunther from the ring.

After Shirai and Ray defeated Wendy Choo and Dakota Kai, Toxic Attraction came out and congratulated the team. Mandy Rose told them, however, that Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne wouldn’t lose their titles. Ray and Shirai agreed, instead proposing the four way championship match at Stand and Deliver. The show ended with Toxic Attraction, Shirai, Ray, and Cora Jade brawling in the ring.

Here is the current card for NXT Stand & Deliver, which will take place April 2 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas:

  • Dolph Ziggler vs. Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship
  • Imperium vs. The Creed Brothers vs. MSK for the NXT Tag Team Championship
  • Mandy Rose vs. Cora Jade vs. Kay Lee Ray vs. Io Shirai for the NXT Women’s Championship
  • Tommaso Ciampa vs. Tony D’Angelo
  • LA Knight vs. Gunther
  • Carmelo Hayes vs. Santos Escobar vs. Grayson WAller vs. Solo Sikoa vs. TBA in a ladder match for the NXT North American Championship

Two title matches announced for next week’s WWE NXT

Two championship matches are set for next week’s “Title Tuesday” edition of NXT.

WWE has announced that NXT Cruiserweight Champion Kushida will defend his title against Roderick Strong on NXT next Tuesday. An NXT Tag Team title match is also set for the show, with MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter) putting their titles on the line against Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner).

Kushida has been NXT Cruiserweight Champion since winning the title from Santos Escobar this April. WWE has been building to a Kushida vs. Strong title match since Strong returned to NXT as part of Diamond Mine this June. Strong attacked Kushida when the group made its debut.

MSK won the NXT Tag Team titles at April’s TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. A video from Imperium cut off an interview with MSK on NXT three weeks ago. Barthel & Aichner called MSK two immature champions with a meaningless title reign.

Next Tuesday’s NXT is also the go-home show for TakeOver 36. The episode will feature a face-to-face segment with NXT Champion Karrion Kross and Samoa Joe ahead of their title match at TakeOver.

Here’s the full list of what’s been announced for next week’s NXT:

  • NXT Cruiserweight Champion Kushida defends against Roderick Strong
  • NXT Tag Team Champions MSK defend against Imperium
  • NXT Breakout Tournament semifinal match: Duke Hudson vs. Carmelo Hayes
  • Face-to-face segment with NXT Champion Karrion Kross and Samoa Joe
