WWE NXT announces new house show dates

WWE NXT is heading back out on the road for more house shows next month.

NXT has announce three live event dates taking place from November 13-15. The shows will be held in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois. Here are the full details:

  • Thursday, November 13 at Saint Paul RiverCentre in Saint Paul, Minnesota
  • Friday, November 14 at Resch Expo in Green Bay, Wisconsin
  • Saturday: November 15 at Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Illinois

The Aragon Ballroom is also a venue where AEW recently held a multi-show residency.

Tickets for the NXT events are going on sale to the general public this Wednesday (October 15) at 10 a.m. Central time.

NXT stars including Ricky Saints, Jacy Jayne, Oba Femi, Sol Ruca, Ethan Page, and Lola Vice will be featured on the shows, as well as some Raw and SmackDown wrestlers yet to be announced. DIY, Candice LeRae, Omos, Los Americanos, and Motor City Machine Guns were the main roster wrestlers who appeared on NXT’s most recent live event loop last weekend.

Holding more house shows outside of Florida is something that NXT has prioritized to help the roster get more experience in unfamiliar environments.

NXT will also be on the road for its Halloween Havoc PLE in Prescott, Arizona on October 25 and a special TV episode in New York City on November 18.

NXT vs. TNA Showdown beats AEW Dynamite in ratings battle

WWE NXT scored a ratings victory over AEW Dynamite with the shows going head-to-head on Tuesday night.

The NXT vs. TNA Showdown special averaged 625,000 viewers on USA Network, an increase of 9.3 percent from last week. With Nielsen changing its ratings methodology, this is still the second-lowest reported audience total for NXT since July 15.

AEW Dynamite Title Tuesday, airing on TBS outside of the show’s normal night, averaged 321,000 viewers. That’s down 31 percent from last week and is the lowest reported audience in the history of the show.

In the 18-49 demo, the NXT episode drew a 0.12 rating. That’s up 20 percent from last week but ties the second-lowest number the show has done in that category so far in 2025.

Dynamite drew a 0.07 rating in the demo, which is a decrease of 22.2 percent from last week and is a record low number for the show.

It should be noted that starting two weeks ago — when Nielsen began using its “Big Panel + Data” measurement system to determine ratings — there have been nearly universal severe declines for both WWE and AEW wrestling programming.

As compared to the same week in 2024, NXT’s average viewership was down 28.5 percent while the 18-49 rating was down 50 percent. AEW’s viewership was down 2.4 percent while the 18-49 rating was down 30 percent. Both shows aired head-to-head during this week last year as well.

Here’s a look at the last 11 weeks of ratings data for both programs:

Main roster names announced for WWE NXT house show tour

Some main roster names are set to appear for WWE NXT on a house show tour this weekend.

Beginning tonight, NXT is in the Midwest for three consecutive live events. WWE has announced that DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) will be competing at all three shows. Along with that, fellow SmackDown tag team Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) are set for Friday’s event in their hometown of Detroit. Shelley & Sabin are only on the Detroit show and not the other two nights.

Here are the dates and locations for the shows:

  • Thursday, October 9: Columbus, Ohio at KEMBA Live!
  • Friday, October 10: Detroit, Michigan at The Masonic Temple
  • Saturday: October 11: Cleveland, Ohio at The Agora Theatre

Holding more house shows outside of Florida has become a priority for NXT as WWE looks to get the brand’s young roster more experience in different environments.

Ethan Page will be defending his NXT North American Championship on all three shows of this tour against yet-to-be-announced opponents.

Along with that, Tony D’Angelo — who has not wrestled since a Sopranos-style cliffhanger that was done on NXT TV in July — is advertised for the three tour dates.

NXT Tag Team titles to be defended at TNA Bound for Glory

A date has already been set for Matt & Jeff Hardy’s first NXT Tag Team title defense.

TNA has announced that The Hardys vs. Dudleys at Bound for Glory this Sunday will now be for both the TNA and NXT Tag Team title belts. The bout — which is a tables match — is being promoted as the last time the Attitude Era rivals will ever face each other.

Matt & Jeff Hardy were already the TNA Tag Team Champions going into last night’s NXT vs. TNA Showdown special. They added the NXT belts to their collection with a victory over Dion Lennox & Osiris Griffin of DarkState. Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley watched the match from the front row — and they stared The Hardys down after it was over.

This is the first time Matt & Jeff Hardy have ever held the NXT Tag Team titles. They’re on their fourth reign as TNA tag champs, having won the belts at Slammiversary this July.

The Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts is hosting Bound for Glory, which is traditionally TNA’s biggest event of the year. Trick Williams vs. Mike Santana for the TNA World Championship will headline the pay-per-view.

TNA Bound for Glory 2025 (Sunday, October 12) —

  • TNA World Champion Trick Williams defends against Mike Santana
  • Tables match: TNA & NXT Tag Team Champions The Hardys defend against The Dudleys
  • TNA Knockouts World Champion Kelani Jordan defends against Indi Hartwell
  • TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater defends against Je’Von Evans
  • TNA International Champion Frankie Kazarian defends against Steve Maclin
  • Hardcore War: Mustafa Ali, Agent Zero, Jason Hotch, John Skyler & Tasha Steelz vs. Eddie Edwards, Moose, Brian Myers, JDC & Alisha Edwards
  • Tessa Blanchard vs. Gia Miller
  • Call Your Shot gauntlet match
  • Mickie James and The Beautiful People (Angelina Love & Velvet Sky) will be inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame

Blake Monroe explains decision to leave AEW and join WWE

For Blake Monroe, joining WWE was a chance to start a new chapter and find a new challenge in her career.

The former Mariah May was one of the top stars in the AEW women’s division before departing the company earlier this year. She made her NXT debut in June, taking on a new name but keeping “The Glamour” as her persona. She is currently feuding with NXT Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca on the brand.

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio After Dark, Monroe detailed why she chose to depart AEW when her contract was up. She loved her iconic feud with Toni Storm in the promotion, but she felt like it was the right time to experience something new.

“I mean, I had a fantastic experience and I did things I’m so proud of and cherish,” Monroe said about her time in AEW. “And when — I had a really short contract — and when it came to an end, you know, there were positives and negatives. But it got to a point with wrestling where, you know, I did have an amazing story, but that was the one thing I had. I didn’t have much else.

“And I just thought, ‘Is this everything I want?’ I also considered going to Japan, which I feel like nobody knows. And it’s something I talked to them about. And then when my deal was up, I just — people were like, ‘Just talk to WWE and just see.’ Because I wasn’t considering it, and that’s not an insult to WWE. It’s incredible. I just didn’t — I always just try to focus on one thing at a time [in] wrestling. So it’s like, I hadn’t considered it. And when I talked to them and they cared so much about ‘The Glamour’ and so much about all these different things, I was like, ‘Okay, now I do have a big choice to make.'”

It was a tough decision, but the WWE/NXT women’s division was ultimately where Monroe wanted to be.

“I really sat and thought about it. And it was a really, really tough decision,” she said. “But it just came down to — I did everything I needed to do. I feel like I told a great story. I feel like I made people feel something. And it’s time to close that chapter. And it’s time to start a new one — and like getting a new name and a whole new experience. And like I said, there are so many women here. Like, women’s wrestling is very important in WWE. And that’s something, as a woman, I want to be a part of. And just like I said, all these different matches and possibilities for me, it just was a great deal. And it was just a challenge. I want a challenge.”

Changing her name was something that Monroe was fully on board with. She is excited to start something new in WWE and turn this persona into a megastar.

“No, because if you’re familiar with my prior name, I feel like it was the end to a story — and I cherish that,” Monroe responded when asked if she would have liked to keep her old name. “I feel like it was kind of cool that [Mariah May] died almost and that’s done.

“And also, I can’t turn back time so I never really think about it, but Mariah is my real name and I wish I never used it in wrestling, because it’s weird. But I did it and I can’t change it. But just the chance to start something new, and I feel like with WWE, it’s like, ‘Hey, we’re going to make this new thing and we’re going to make it a megastar.’ And I feel like week-by-week we do that. And, yeah, I love it.”

The name “Blake Monroe” is a tribute to Monroe’s niece whose first name is Blake.

Now a few months into her NXT run, Monroe feels like she’s getting more comfortable and finding her footing. Being in WWE was a childhood dream for her. She has goals like winning championships, but the main thing she wants to accomplish is making the fans feel something with her performances.

Monroe listed Ruca and Tatum Paxley as two of the opponents she’s excited to face in NXT. When she eventually gets to the main roster, Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan are some of the people Monroe hopes to work with.

WWE reveals opening match for NXT vs. TNA Showdown

A title vs. title match will kick off tonight’s NXT vs. TNA Showdown broadcast.

DarkState vs. The Hardys will be the opening match of Showdown, WWE announced this afternoon. It’s a winner-take-all bout where Dion Lennix & Osiris Griffin’s NXT Tag Team titles and Matt & Jeff Hardy’s TNA Tag Team titles are both up for grabs.

The Dudley Boyz could potentially play a role in the result of the match, with Bubba Ray tweeting that he and D-Von will be watching closely from the front row. They’re slated to challenge Matt & Jeff for the TNA Tag Team titles in a tables match at TNA’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view this Sunday. It’s being billed as the last time these two legendary tag team rivals will ever face each other.

Matt & Jeff Hardy have never held the NXT Tag Team titles before — but winning the belts is a goal they hope to accomplish before their careers end.

Tonight’s show airs live on The CW starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time. Here is everything that has been announced:

NXT vs. TNA Showdown (Tuesday, October 7) —

  • Team NXT (Ricky Saints, Trick Williams, Myles Borne & Je’Von Evans) vs. Team TNA (Mike Santana, Frankie Kazarian, Moose & Leon Slater) with Joe Hendry as special guest referee
  • Team NXT (Jacy Jayne, Sol Ruca, Jaida Parker & Lola Vice)  vs. Team TNA (Kelani Jordan, The IInspiration & Mara Sade) with Jordynne Grace as special guest referee
  • NXT North American Champion Ethan Page defends against Mustafa Ali

WWE announces special NXT episode for next month

Next month, WWE NXT will hold a special television episode in New York City.

It was announced today that The Theater at Madison Square Garden will host the Tuesday, November 18 episode of NXT, airing live on The CW at 8 p.m. Eastern time. With a listed capacity of 5,570, the venue is a smaller theater that’s part of MSG. NXT held its Roadblock special at the theater this March.

The show is taking place one day after MSG hosts the November 17 episode of Raw, which is being built around John Cena’s last-ever WWE appearance in New York City before retirement.

Tickets for the NXT show are going on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, October 8. A pre-sale — using the access code “WWEVIP” — will begin on October 6 at that same time.

A press release lists that Ricky Saints, Jacy Jayne, Ethan Page, Trick Williams, and Sol Ruca will be appearing. Of note, a graphic for the show also includes Oba Femi. Fans have been speculating whether he’s headed to the main roster after having dropped the NXT Championship to Saints last weekend.

WWE status updates on Oba Femi, Tony D’Angelo

In the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided an update on the status of two NXT stars.

Oba Femi dropped the NXT Championship to Ricky Saints at No Mercy last weekend and is not part of the card for next Tuesday’s NXT vs. TNA Showdown special. That’s inevitably led to fans speculating that Femi will be joining the WWE main roster soon.

Meltzer writes that, as far as everyone is concerned, there are still plans for Femi in NXT — but it’s always possible that WWE is trying to swerve people to make his call-up a surprise.

“Regarding the idea Oba Femi lost the NXT title so he could be brought to the main roster, this is one of those things where the answer as far as everyone knows is no, in the sense Femi is still in the plans for NXT going forward,” Meltzer wrote. “However, they do swerve people and tell almost nobody about call-ups a lot of the time so people who should know get blindsided. So it’s a no as far as just about anyone knows, but there is no such thing as a 100 percent no.”

There have also been questions about what’s going on with Tony D’Angelo, who hasn’t been seen in NXT since a Sopranos-style cliffhanger was done in July. What’s next for D’Angelo remains to be seen, but Meltzer notes that he is not injured:

“Regarding the disappearance of Tony D’Angelo, it is not injury related but he asked for time off.”

Jazmyn Nyx: ‘No I was not making 6 figures’ in WWE NXT

In a Snapchat Q&A on Thursday, Jazmyn Nyx provided some more information about her decision to leave WWE.

Nyx was written out of NXT storylines this week after deciding not to accept a new contract offer from the company. Though she expressed gratitude for the opportunities WWE gave her, Nyx said their contract offer — which was for three years — “just wasn’t going to cut it” for her financially.

The Snapchat Q&A included Nyx giving an answer where she said her NXT salary was not a six-figure one.

“Ultimately it came down to the work I was putting in and being booked for was not accurate with the amount I was being offered,” she wrote about departing NXT. “And no I was not making 6 figures but that is the goal but thank you.”

Nyx gave a clearer indication of her salary while responding to a fan on Instagram, saying it would have been great if she were making $80,000 to $150,000 per year.

With a background as a soccer player, Nyx (real name Jade Gentile) joined the WWE Performance Center in 2022. She was featured in NXT as a member of Fatal Influence with Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley.

Nyx said in her Q&A that the wear and tear of the job contributed to the decision she made to leave NXT.

“Not specifically my injuries, but the wear and tear that the job had on my body was one of the reasons,” she wrote. “I was wrestling for both tna and nxt every Tuesday and on the weekends without a day off.”

WWE files for new ‘Invasion’ trademark

WWE has made a new trademark filing that looks to be related to NXT’s TNA invasion storyline.

On September 24, WWE applied to trademark the term “Invasion.” The application states that the trademark is to cover goods and services related to pro wrestling performances:

Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment

Tuesday night’s NXT episode ended with an angle where — one week after voicing frustration with how NXT is treating them — TNA stars invaded NXT and brawled with the show’s roster. The episode was headlined by NXT Champion Oba Femi vs. TNA World Champion Trick Williams in a title vs. title match, which ended in a no contest due to the invasion.

Williams — an NXT star — has held the TNA World Championship since May. He has a title defense coming up against Mike Santana at TNA Bound for Glory on October 12. The story is that Santana has the chance to accomplish his goal of becoming World Champion along with bringing the title back home to TNA.

TNA is reported to be in discussions for a new TV deal with a WWE-associated network, with The CW and A&E both mentioned as options. The CW is also the broadcast home of NXT.

Myles Borne congratulates girlfriend Stephanie Vaquer on WWE title win

On social media today, NXT wrestler Myles Borne sent out a message congratulating his girlfriend Stephanie Vaquer on her first WWE main roster title win.

“I’m so proud of you. You are so special and amazing in and out of the ring,” Borne wrote on Instagram while sharing a photo of them with Vaquer holding her new championship. “Never doubted you for a moment, keep reaching for the stars mi amor. Congratulations mi campeóna, I love you.”

Vaquer won the Women’s World Championship at WWE Wrestlepalooza last weekend, defeating IYO SKY for the vacant belt after it had been relinquished by Naomi. Original plans had called for Vaquer to challenge for the title at Clash in Paris in August, but that could not happen due to Naomi’s pregnancy.

The news that Vaquer and Borne were dating first became known this May when Vaquer was spotted in pictures with Borne’s family. In a tweet during his NXT feud with Lexis King, Borne confirmed the relationship on X/Twitter by calling Vaquer his “Chilean queen.” The couple met while Vaquer was in NXT after signing with WWE.

Borne — who is partially deaf — got a victory over King on NXT last night in a Lights Out match.

Following her Women’s World Championship win, Vaquer will compete at Crown Jewel: Perth on October 11 to determine the 2025 women’s Crown Jewel Champion. Her opponent will be the WWE Women’s Champion — either Tiffany Stratton, Nia Jax, or Jade Cargill. Those three are set to face off in a triple threat match on SmackDown this Friday with Stratton defending the WWE Women’s Championship.

Update on Shayna Baszler after WWE NXT Homecoming appearance

As of now, Shayna Baszler’s appearance at NXT Homecoming was a one-off and not a full-time return to WWE.

Baszler — who was released from her WWE contract in May — made an on-screen appearance during Tuesday’s Homecoming special, giving advice to Sol Ruca and Zaria in a backstage segment. Dave Meltzer reports in the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that, while there is hope within WWE that Baszler will take a coaching or producing position with the company, that is not in place at this point.

“Regarding Baszler those in the company said that they expect and hope she take a coaching or producing position,” Meltzer wrote. “At this point nothing is in place and it was just a one-off thing this week.”

Between the time she was released and her 90-day clause expiring, Baszler did contribute to NXT in a producer-type role. She is set to have her first post-WWE indie match on October 5 for Prestige Wrestling in Portland, Oregon. Baszler vs. Masha Slamovich is set for that show.

The 45-year-old Baszler indicated during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show in August that she could be interested in signing with AEW if that opportunity presented itself.

“I said almost exactly this statement when people were talking about my UFC to WWE transition: I don’t care as much of the letters behind it, I just want to practice my craft,” she said. “And if I can do that alongside my friends, that’s always a great place to be. So, I’m not going to say a hard no to any of that.”

The NXT Homecoming special took place at Full Sail University and celebrated the brand’s past and present. Baszler was a two-time NXT Women’s Champion during her time on the brand.

Shawn Michaels explains importance of WWE NXT house shows

Getting out on the road and performing in front of different crowds is an important learning experience for the young prospects of WWE NXT.

NXT recently went outside of Florida for a weekend of house shows in South Carolina and Georgia. Next month, the brand will be in Ohio and Michigan for another slate of live events. Shawn Michaels explained on a new episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet that this is a step WWE is taking to help get the wrestlers in NXT more reps outside of the Performance Center.

“Now we’re back out doing live events in different cities and different towns. This is some of our talent’s first time ever getting out of the state of Florida — with the exception of PLEs — which again, are their own sort of aspect.

“We always talk about this: there’s TV, there’s live events, there’s PLEs. They’re all kind of different. And all those performances have to be different,” Michaels said. “And this feel [of the shows is different], and so many things that we say that they haven’t had the opportunity to really experience, because we’re in the Performance Center on a regular basis. And that audience is an audience that is sort of there playing their part on television and doing their role, which they do in a great way more often than not.”

In his WWE executive position, Michaels is in charge of overseeing NXT. He said the South Carolina and Georgia house shows provided talent with some crowd reactions that threw them off. That can now be used as a tool to help those wrestlers learn and get better at their craft.

“The reception that they get in — I don’t know, Charleston, or, you know, in Augusta, Georgia, and another place, they’re all three different,” Michaels said. “This last time on the road, they all experienced that. And it was something that threw them all off. And they didn’t really understand it because so many of the things that they do all the time didn’t work. So those are aspects that once they experience that, I can now begin to associate with them on a level that we haven’t been able to do it before.”

NXT will be in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for its No Mercy PLE on September 27. The next house show loop outside of Florida will be taking place from October 9-11 with stops in Columbus, Detroit, and Cleveland.

Chelsea Green has main roster hopes for WWE NXT pairing

Chelsea Green hopes her NXT pairing with Ethan Page comes to the WWE main roster with Page continuing to be featured with the Secret Hervice.

The Canadian duo of Green & Page formed prior to NXT Heatwave, where they picked up a mixed tag team victory last month over Tyra Mae Steele & Tavion Heights. After Heatwave, it was reported that there were several people in WWE who would like to see Green & Page appear together on SmackDown. Green is already part of the SmackDown roster with her allies Piper Niven & Alba Fyre.

In an interview with USA Today, Green spoke highly of Page and said she hopes they continue to work together.

“[Page] absolutely deserves everything in wrestling that he’s ever got, and now I feel like it’s my job to make sure the main roster sees him as a main roster talent,” Green said. “I also hope that he stays with us. I think that we’ve learned so much from him. He’s learned so much from us, and we have just made kind of the perfect unit.”

Page is the current men’s North American Champion in NXT. He lost a non-title flag match to Heights on this week’s NXT episode.

Shawn Michaels on running WWE NXT: ‘It’s a role I love’

At 60 years old, Shawn Michaels is grateful to be in a role where he can give back to the wrestling industry and help out its future stars.

Michaels oversees NXT in his WWE executive role, with his official job title being “Senior Vice President of Talent Development, Creative.” He’s been working behind the scenes in NXT for almost a decade now but started to take a bigger role running the brand in 2021.

“It’s a role I love,” Michaels told Justin Barrasso of Undisputed in a recently conducted interview. “None of it feels like work for me. And if it helps the men and women here grow personally and professionally, then those are positives.”

Michaels compared working with NXT’s up-and-coming prospects to sharing advice with your children. He’s able to pass down lessons from his Hall of Fame career, along with having an informed perspective from the personal battles he’s fought in his past.

“I’m supposed to be giving back, and I’m thankful that I can do it in a line of work that I know a lot about,” he said. “It’s like sharing experiences and knowledge with your children. We apply that to the young men and women who walk into the WWE Performance Center, and it’s the same thing from a career standpoint. I understand the personal struggle that goes on during this. To not recognize that would be an injustice. I want to make sure we’re covering everything and do my part in trying to help them.”

NXT will celebrate both its past and present next week with a special TV episode taking place from Full Sail University.
