VIDEO: NWA Power episode 13 – ‘Who’s The Third Man, Brother?’

After two weeks airing outside of its normal time slot during the holidays, NWA Power is back to Tuesdays this week:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHhLQ9lM6kk

The episode premieres at 6:05 p.m. Eastern time and is title “Who’s The Third Man, Brother?” The NWA wrote that “NWA Worlds Champion Nick Aldis’ conflict with Tim Storm, Marty Scurll, and Ricky Morton has escalated over the last month leading to the huge conclusions of this episode. Stay tuned to the end of the episode to find out who the 3rd man is.”

Tim Storm will appear at the start of tonight’s show. Storm was supposed to face NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis in a Television title tournament qualifier last week, but Aldis backed out of the match and Storm defeated Royce Isaacs instead.

A TV title tournament qualifier between Zicky Dice and Caleb Konley is also set for tonight. ODB will face Thunder Rosa on the show, and Aldis has a 6:05 challenge for Ricky Starks.

NWA Power results: Tim Storm vs. Royce Isaacs

The show opened with an absolutely excellent recap of the Nick Aldis/Tim Storm feud.

David Marquez opened the show with Tim Storm wearing a Mama Storm shirt, and he talked about how excited he was to wrestle Aldis. Storm said that when he won, he would cross the bridge of a future title shot later, though he was a man of his word. He then apologized to his mother before saying that he was going to kick Aldis’ ass.

The NWA World Champion came out and said that he was all relaxed, and how Storm was intense. He entered the TV title tournament for fun, because there was no one left for him to beat. Aldis said the intense look on Storm’s face was starting to piss him off, and he should break the rules and embrace the hate. He mocked Storm and challenged him to attack, calling he and Ricky Morton “Randy the Ram” as they are a bunch of old guys that just can’t let go.

This was absolutely fantastic. These were wonderful promos from both men, and this feud feels very personal. It always felt special, but this fully turned it into a blood feud.

**********

Aron Stevens defeated Sal Rinauro

Stevens wanted to prove he was a shooter using various submission holds, but as Rinauro made the ropes, Stevens yanked on Rinauro’s shoulder. Stevens ran at Rinauro, and Rinauro hit an uppercut, dodged a dropkick, and went for a figure four leglock. Stevens drove Rinauro into the corner and then hit a “karate clothesline” as called by Stu Bennett – an interesting technique. Stevens locked on the Million Dollar Dream, which Bennett called the Mongrovian Clutch.

Stevens kept the hold on after the bell, and Trevor Murdoch came out to make the save. Murdoch said that he was angry that Stevens got involved in his match on the pay-per-view and he was angry that Stevens was taking advantage of young wrestlers. Murdoch said he didn’t want the National title, but wanted to fight Stevens. Stevens said that he would fight him if he put his spot on the TV title tournament on the line.

**********

Trevor Murdoch defeated Shooter Stevens

Murdoch hit a shoulderblock on Stevens which sent him to the floor. Stevens came back in and tried to kick Murdoch, but Murdoch blocked it, hit a clothesline, and then slammed Stevens twice. Murdoch locked on a weird Koji Clutch-type move, but Stevens made it to the ropes. Stevens attacked and hit a series of strikes and headbutts to Murdoch’s arm.

Stevens went for the Mongrovian Clutch, but Murdoch got to the ropes. Stevens switched to a sleeper, but Murdoch drove him into the top turnbuckle and then hit a full nelson slam. Murdoch then locked on a Indian Death Lock for the submission, so he stays in the tournament. This match was not very good at all, but Murdoch is over as a babyface.

**********

— A brief video aired of the Pope with Eddie Kingston and Homicide. Pope said that he saw them both as future world tag team champions and Kingston as a future world champion. Homicide agreed as he was a former world champion himself in Ring of Honor, and believes that Kingston was a future world champion.

— A recap of Eli Drake’s drunk promo from last week aired. He came out a bit more sober this week. Drake talked about how Aldis seemed to want to keep him out of the title picture. He agreed with everything that Ricky Morton said, and that if Aldis wouldn’t fight him, he would. Drake said that he could team with anyone and wants a tag team partner to challenge for the tag titles. He trash talked Ken Anderson a bit.

— Colt Cabana came out and said that he was tired of Drake talking down to Anderson and that he was a good guy. Drake said, “I don’t care about Anderson, but I need a tag partner. Will you do it?” Cabana said, “No. Ken Anderson is my tag partner.” Drake went back to acting very heelish here. I have no idea who the babyface or heel is in this feud, and it’s a bit frustrating. The performances are good, but I’d like to know who to root for.

**********

A video aired of Allysin Kay saying that she was confused by what happened with Marti Belle and how she thought it was Melina and Thunder Rosa in her ear.

Tasha Steelz defeated Marti Belle

Belle and Steelz exchanged some basic wrestling, ending with Steelz slipping out of a head scissors. Belle hit a knee to the stomach and sent Steelz to the corner. Steelz floated over and then went for a roll up, but Belle hit a running knee for a two count. Belle hit a vertical suplex on Steelz, drove her into the corner. and started stomping her. Belle hit a knee to the chest and a clothesline after an Irish whip.

Belle knocked Steelz back into the corner and went for a running knee, but Steelz dodged, ducked a clothesline, and hit two axehandle smashes before hitting a running forearm. Steelz hit an uppercut, a kick to the stomach, and a running neckbreaker that was slightly botched. Steelz blocked a forearm and then hit a cutter for the pin that Belle fell too late for, but they still managed to pull it off.

This wasn’t a horrible match. Both women kept it very basic which was to their advantage. There were only two messed up spots, and it was more to do with Belle’s timing and when she took the move. Melina came into the ring afterward to berate Belle for losing.

**********

Two more names were drawn for the NWA TV Title Tournament: Ziggy Dice vs. Caleb Konley.

Tim Storm came out to wrestle Nick Aldis, but Aldis came out in his dress pants and said that he didn’t come out dressed to wrestle because he only entered the tournament for fun, and Storm took the fun out of it. The crowd chanted “coward” at Aldis as he announced that it wasn’t worth getting injured. Aldis called his group Strictly Business and said that in the best interest of his group, he wasn’t going to wrestle.

Storm said that Aldis was a coward, and until now, he backed everything up but has now shown his true colours. Aldis went up on the apron and then ducked out again, to boos from the crowd. Aldis said that an important part of the New Year is leaving the past behind, so he was leaving Storm in the past and Royce Isaacs would fight Storm instead.

NWA TV Title Tournament Qualifying Match: Tim Storm defeated Royce Isaacs

Storm went on the offensive right away and started beating Isaacs all around the ring. Storm hit a fallaway slam and didn’t take his eyes off Aldis. Storm hit a snapmare and then a boot to Isaacs’ head. Latimer distracted Storm, and Isaacs was able to hit a Northern Lights suplex and several strikes in the corner.

The fans chanted “Mama Storm!” to cheer Storm on, but Isaacs hit a slam and went to the middle rope, but missed a senton. Storm hit a clothesline, a back elbow, and a big boot on Isaacs. Storm hit a forearm and sent Isaacs to the corner before looking at Aldis and hitting an avalanche in the corner.

Isaacs managed to hit a cutter in the corner, but Storm was able to get his feet on the rope. Isaacs grabbed a full nelson and went to pick Storm up into a deadlift German suplex, but Storm countered with a series of elbows and then the Perfect Storm for the pinfall victory, advancing into the TV title tournament.

As Storm was getting Isaacs out of the ring, the Rock n’ Roll Express came out and when Aldis finally noticed them, they warned him to never turn his back on his opponent. Then, they simply walked by and led the crowd in chants of “rock and roll” as the show went off the air.

**********

All in all, this was a very good episode of NWA Power with some absolutely incredible work from Tim Storm and Nick Aldis. Aldis is now firmly established as a heel with his true colors being shown, and Storm is an even bigger babyface than before. You know these two are going to have to clash for the NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship one more time down the line, and I can’t wait for it. The work they have done is incredible.

NWA Power results: Television title tournament qualifiers begin

Last week, we saw the formation of a new stable in the NWA. Nick Aldis, Kamille, Tom Latimer, and Royce Isaacs joined forces when they beat up Tim Storm. Tonight, we began to see the fallout from this.

David Marquez was with Trevor Murdoch, who was given an NWA contract. The crowd cheered loudly for him, and he had a big smile on his face. Zicky Dice cut Murdoch off and talked about how he spent the night with “Dusty,” a dancer from down the road. Murdoch and Dice looked like they were going to get in a brawl, but The Pope (Elijah Burke) came out!

Pope talked about the NWA Television Championship and everyone that paved the way for them. Pope said he was in the NWA looking for his superpowers — meaning he’s looking for a group that he is going to take over professional wrestling with. Dice asked if he was who Pope was looking for, and Pope pointed at him and walked away before joining the commentary team.

**********

NWA Television title tournament qualifying match: Ricky Starks defeated Eddie Kingston

Kingston showed his wrestling ability early on, managing to get a side headlock on Starks. Starks fought out into a hammerlock, but Kingston hit an elbow and sent Starks into the corner. Starks got his boot up and hit a shoulder tackle off the middle rope before hitting a flying crossbody for a two count.

Starks hit a few kicks and chops, but Kingston told him to hit him again. Starks kicked him in the face and got a two count. Starks went for an Irish whip, but Kingston reversed into an exploder. Kingston hit some hard punches and sent Starks into the ropes. Starks came off with a slingblade that dropped Kingston.

Starks got his foot up in the corner again and hit a tornado DDT. He went for Buster Keaton, but Kingston fought out into a suplex. Starks made a comeback and countered into Buster Keaton for the pinfall victory.

**********

Royce Isaacs came out to the ringside area with May Valentine. It appears they are in a relationship. Isaacs whispered to Marquez about the things he had planned with her, and Marquez was appalled. Isaacs said that what was happening with Nick Aldis is that they were taking over the world.

Isaacs then said he wanted to prove he could wrestle one-on-one and wanted to show Valentine what he could do. James Storm walked out to answer him.

Storm went into the ring and the referee came in to get ready for the match. When they came back from break, Isaacs asked for four kisses from Valentine before he started the match. Isaacs claimed he needed a massage too, but as his back was turned, Storm attacked.

James Storm defeated Royce Isaacs via countout

Storm beat Isaacs around the ringside area, threw Isaacs into the ring, and went for the superkick. Isaacs grabbed Valentine and then walked away from ringside. Storm led the referee and crowd into a count of 10, which the crowd popped for.

**********

Eli Drake came out with champagne and it looked like he was mildly drunk. He talked about how the new year was just around the corner. Drake said he needed new goals for 2020, but he wasn’t going to make resolutions. He said that goals sounded like gold, and he pointed out his Nike shoes and his jacket.

Jocephus was dressed as Santa and they sang some Christmas carols while Drake walked around drunk. This was rather nonsensical, but I guess that made sense as he was supposed to be drunk?

Jocephus has a good voice though. The crowd started to boo as the song ended and Nick Aldis, Kamille, and The Wild Cards came out.

Aldis had gifts for his crew — track jackets for everyone. Marquez wanted to ask about Kamille, and Aldis tapped his watch and said, “Who had one minute?” Aldis said everyone fell for it, with James Storm losing their title match and the attack on Tim Storm. Aldis then responded to what Ricky Morton said, and Aldis credited himself for being the reason that all of this was happening.

Aldis asked for The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express to come out and addressed Morton. Aldis asked Morton to clarify his comments. Morton said that he simply gave his opinion. He said that Aldis does represent the greatest championship in wrestling, but while Aldis spent two years building the NWA, Ric Flair, Harley Race, and The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express spent their entire lives building it.

Morton apologized for offending him and offered a handshake. Aldis then said that they saw what happened with James Storm and Tim Storm, so Morton should think very carefully before opening his mouth again.

Excellent promo here. I have no idea what Eli Drake was doing, but Aldis was phenomenal. It would seem they are building to The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express being a part of a team against Team Aldis.

**********

The woman that scores the victory in this match gets to name their next opponent.

Melina, Thunder Rosa & Marti Belle defeated NWA Women’s World Champion Allysin Kay, Ashley Vox & ODB

Thunder Rosa started the match with ODB, but it wasn’t long before Kay tagged in and Thunder Rosa floated over a suplex attempt by Kay into a neckbreaker. Belle tagged in and hit a knee on Kay. She went for the Pedigree, but Kay hit a Samoan drop to escape before tagging out to Vox.

Vox ran across the ring and hit a dropkick on Melina, who just tagged in. Melina raked the eyes and sent her into a Rosa dropkick on Vox’s knee. The heels got the heat on Vox for a bit, with Rosa looking the best on her team, hitting Vox with a chop before tagging out to Melina.

Melina hit an ugly DDT on Vox for a two count. Melina picked up Vox, but she managed to roll up Melina for a two count. Vox made the hot tag to Kay, who hit a chop and a pump kick to Melina. Melina hit a jawbreaker and tagged out to Rosa. Kay tagged in ODB, who hit a fallaway slam on Rosa and Vox hit a missile dropkick off the middle rope.

Belle and Melina sent Kay to the floor, but Vox got her submission — The Reel Catch — on Thunder Rosa. Rosa bit Vox’s pinky finger and stood up before hitting a shoulder breaker on Vox again. Rosa held onto her and then hit a driving shoulder breaker to the mat to get the win.

Rosa then announced who she was going to face, and it looked like she was going to say Kay, but Melina cut her off and said “ODB!” Rosa then said, “ODB, sure, I guess.”

It seems like Melina doesn’t want Rosa challenging for the title. With that being said, this group just formed — why are we seeing them not getting along already? We saw that last week with Melina bossing Belle around, and now Thunder Rosa.

**********

The next names were drawn for the NWA Television title tournament, and Tim Storm’s name was chosen. Aldis’ name was selected next, and Storm will be facing off against Nick Aldis next week. Storm cut a promo saying that “Mama Storm turned 95 last week.”

Storm told us that his mother didn’t retire until she was 78. Storm said she was the reason he keeps working and is the reason he has his work ethic. Storm talked about how his dad left when he was a kid and she went to work every day even if she didn’t want to.

Mama Storm said that Tim still had something to prove, and Storm quoted Dusty Rhodes, modifying the promo a little, saying “My body might be a little bit old, and it might be a little bit broken down, but I’m bad, and they know I’m bad!” This was phenomenal.

**********

NWA Television title tournament qualifying match: The Question Mark defeated Colt Cabana

Cabana got hit with a big chop early on, but he managed to out wrestle Question Mark into a pinfall attempt. Question Mark kicked out and then tried to chase Cabana around the ring. Cabana tried to pin him as Question Mark rolled into the ring. Question Mark kicked out, then both men exchanged some strikes.

Cabana hit him with a chop and then landed a big splash off the middle rope for a two count. Question Mark hit the ropes and hit a series of jumping chops, but Cabana hit a bionic elbow to drop Question Mark. Cabana went to the top rope and went for a jumping bionic elbow, but The Question Mark hit the Mongrovian Spike as Cabana came down. Question Mark then pinned Cabana to get the win.

Backstage, Aron Stevens and Question Mark cut a promo about how they were going after all the belts.

This main event match was fun, because Cabana and Question Mark are fun, but it was no good in terms of actual in-ring quality.

I liked the follow up with Tim Storm and Aldis, and that is probably how I would have ended the show. Ending with Storm’s promo would have been a higher point than the match featuring Question Mark and Cabana, but it was still a very solid episode. I am very much looking forward to Aldis vs. Storm next week.

The NWA Television title tournament will officially kick off with two opening round matches. Eddie Kingston faces Ricky Starks, and Colt Cabana takes on The Question Mark.

Kingston, Starks, Cabana, Question Mark, Zicky Dice, Caleb Konley, Trevor Murdoch, Latimer, Tim Storm, Zane Dawson, Dave Dawson, and Nick Aldis is the field for the TV title tournament. The TV Champion will be crowned at Hard Times on January 24.

Allysin Kay, ODB & Ashley Vox vs. Melina, Marti Belle & Thunder Rosa will also air tonight.

NWA Power airing on Monday this week

NWA Power will be airing a bit earlier than usual this holiday week.

The NWA announced today that this week’s episode of Power will premiere on YouTube and Facebook on Monday at 6:05 p.m. Eastern time: “#NWAPowerrr Update. As a special gift to our loyal @NWA fans, we will upload this week’s NWA Power… 24 hours earlier than usual. See Episode 11 of #NWAPowerrr at 6:05pm ET MONDAY… December 23rd!”

The second season of Power debuted last week and featured the fallout from the NWA’s Into the Fire pay-per-view. The promotion’s next PPV is called Hard Times and will take place on Friday, January 24.

WWE will present a taped episode of Raw tomorrow, a taped episode of NXT on Christmas Day, and a live SmackDown on Friday. AEW Dynamite is off this week, but AEW Dark will premiere on YouTube in its regular time slot on Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. Eastern time.

NWA Power results: Into the Fire fallout

The show opened with a recap of Marty Scurll’s entrance at NWA Into the Fire.

David Marquez welcomed Aron Stevens, who was showered with boos. The Question Mark was with him and got cheered wildly. Stevens claimed that he earned a third degree black belt in Mongrovian karate. Stevens talked about being the toughest man to hold the NWA National title.

Stevens said that he was not the NWA National Champion — he is the Third Degree NWA National Champion. He wanted to be known as Shooter Stevens now.

Stevens then said that he has his eyes set on belts, while looking directly at the camera. He said him and Question Mark have their eyes on the Tag Team titles, and Question Mark has his eyes on the TV title.

Colt Cabana came out and confronted Stevens, saying that Stevens was hiding behind the Christmas tree for the majority of their match at Into the Fire. Cabana said that Stevens only won the match because of Question Mark and he would never be a champion without Question Mark.

Stevens said that he had no business with Cabana and maybe he should try and learn karate from Question Mark.

**********

Thunder Rosa came out and got the fans to stand as she welcomed Melina. Ashley Vox ran out and attacked Rosa, but Rosa sent Vox flying into the stairs. Melina commanded Rosa to hit a double stomp from the top rope onto the arm, but ODB and Allysin Kay made the save.

Melina and Thunder Rosa ran up to Marti Belle, and Melina asked where she was. Belle informed them that Melina told her to not come out after what happened at Into the Fire, but Melina said that she needed Belle to do whatever she needed.

**********

Before this started, we were informed that every qualifying match for the NWA Television Championship tournament would have a 6:05 time limit.

Zicky Dice defeated Sal Rinauro and CW Anderson in a Television title tournament qualifying match

Rinauro and Anderson shook hands, but Dice took offense to this and stopped the handshake. Rinauro, Anderson, and Dice exchanged pinfall attempts before a triple clothesline saw all four men crash to the mat. Anderson and Rinauro double teamed Dice, then Rinauro hit a stunner on Anderson.

Anderson replied with a spinebuster on Rinauro, but Dice grabbed Anderson and threw him into the ring post before hitting a neckbreaker — called the Snake, Rattle, & Roll — on Rinauro for the pinfall.

Dice cut a promo about how it isn’t luck that he was in the NWA, and then he searched for a word to call it and decided on calling it luck anyway. That was funny. The Dawsons came out and shooed him away before saying that, while they knew that the people didn’t like them, they wanted to expose a conspiracy in the NWA.

The Dawsons said James Storm was right — there’s a conspiracy around this place and they were part of it. They did all of the dirty work for The Wild Cards and were promised title shots and a lot of money, which hasn’t happened.

The Wild Cards came out with chairs and chased them away. Apparently, The Wild Cards don’t want The Dawsons talking about what is going on with Kamille. This was very interesting.

I really enjoy this slow burn development with Kamille and what is brewing in the background. It seems like Nick Aldis is a heel and up to something, but he puts on a false friendly face. With that being said, he still takes great pride in being the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. It’s great stuff.

**********

Marty Scurll’s promo from after Into the Fire was aired, with Scurll saying that he was going to do whatever he wanted, and if that meant causing some trouble in the NWA, he was going to do it. He said that Nick Aldis was the real Worlds Champion, and that Scurll and him go back about 15 years.

Scurll said that he gave Aldis the fight of his life at the Crockett Cup, and even though he lost, he knew deep down that he could beat Aldis. Scurll said that after everything he’s done, it’s a shame that he has not become the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.

The crowd exploded into cheers for Marty for this. So, what is Scurll doing? He’s concentrating on becoming the next NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.

This was an absolutely excellent promo. I wonder how long the NWA will have Scurll, but you never know what he might do.

**********

Eddie Kingston was on commentary. Stu Bennett and Joe Galli asked him about Homicide’s injury, but Kingston said he was fine. Kingston said, “You’ll see him back when he comes back,” and left it at that.

NWA Tag Team Champions The Rock n’ Roll Express defeated Zach Mosley & Sean Sims in a non-title match

The Rock n’ Roll Express won a fast squash match, and while it was quick, it was fun. I am amazed at how good these guys are at their age.

The Rock n’ Rolls cut a promo about how Nick Aldis is a great champion, but he isn’t quite in the same league as Ric Flair and Harley Race just yet. Once they were leaving, The Dawsons came out again, determined to expose this conspiracy, but The Wild Cards attacked them.

When they came back from break, The Wild Cards and The Dawsons were in the ring and getting ready to wrestle.

**********

The Wild Cards defeated The Dawsons

Thomas Latimer and Royce Isaacs wanted to double team Zane Dawson, but Zane kicked them both and then went to the outside of the ring. Zane went to chop Latimer but missed and chopped the ring post. Latimer stepped on his fingers and The Wild Cards started working over the weakness they found.

Zane continued to sell the hand here throughout the heat segment of the match, and that was actually quite great.

Latimer bit Zane’s fingers, but it was on the wrong hand. Not sure if that was a mistake or not. However, Latimer grabbed the other hand and bit that one. They hit a combination Death Valley Driver and powerbomb on Zane before getting the pinfall and continuing to work over the hand and then leaving the ring.

Latimer went over to David Marquez and cut a promo about how The Dawsons were liars. He then said that Santa was also a liar.

Jocephus came out with a bag of toys, dressed as Santa, and decided he was going to get into the good graces of the audience and the NWA, but he then yelled at a Santa in the crowd and told him to sit down, so he seemed to fail in his attempt.

**********

James Storm was backstage and said that he was disappointed that he lost his title shot, but he promised that he was going to win that title someday. He pointed to the welt on his head and said from his perspective that it was because Aldis removed the turnbuckle pad and that it was no accident that he was driven into it.

Storm also said that it was no accident that Aldis knocked out Brian Hebner so that Tim Storm could come in and be the referee. He said that he never gives up, so he was going to go down to the bottom of the pile, but he was going to work his way back up.

Another excellent promo on this show, with James Storm bringing the fire in it. He’s adding more to the idea that there is a conspiracy happening. I hope this storyline has a good resolution, because historically, stuff like this usually ends up being disappointing.

However, I really do think they have a conclusion in mind for it and won’t drag it out longer than it needs to be, especially if it exposes Aldis as a heel.

**********

The competitors for the NWA Television title tournament were announced — Ziggy Dice, Ricky Starks, Colt Cabana, Caleb Konley, Trevor Murdoch, The Question Mark, Eddie Kingston, Tim Storm, The Dawsons, and Nick Aldis. The NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion has entered the tournament to become a double champion.

Marquez introduced a former NWA Television Champion: Nikita Koloff. Koloff cut an awesome promo here, talking about how he was excited to see who was going to win it. He drew the first two matchups. Ricky Starks vs. Eddie Kingston was the first one — that is a very big match. Brian Hebner stood in between as Starks and Kingston faced off like it was a UFC fight.

Colt Cabana will face The Question Mark, and both men faced off. The first two matches will take place next week on NWA Power.

Aldis walked over to Marquez with Starks. Aldis explained why he was entered into the TV title tournament: He has no challengers left and wants to be the first man in history to hold the TV title and Worlds Heavyweight Championship at the same time.

Aldis said that Starks has a shot at making it all the way to the finals just to lose to Aldis. Marquez wanted to talk about Scurll, and Aldis shut down the chants for Marty from the crowd. Aldis said, “No comment,” because he was tired of people coming out of the woodwork to come to the NWA when he spent two years building the promotion. He said Scurll tried to insert himself into a Worlds title match, but that isn’t how things are done in the NWA.

Marquez said that Ricky Morton said some things about Aldis, but Aldis hasn’t heard it yet. He would watch it back later. Marquez then asked about Kamille, and Aldis said that he needed more than just an insurance policy — he needed a real team. He said that we would see that unfold over the next few weeks, but Kamille is no longer his insurance policy. The crowd yelled in shock.

This was so great. I have no idea where all of this is going, but they have done a really great job building intrigue for later shows. I can’t wait to see the tournament and what happens next.

**********

Stu Bennett sat down with Scurll, and Scurll said that he wanted to keep people guessing about where he was going to be next. Scurll said that he loves the idea of the title matches being important — and that the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship is the real World title.

Scurll said working with the NWA for the Crockett Cup had ignited his passion for wrestling again, and he didn’t want people to assume what he was going to do next. Scurll said that after all he has done in wrestling, he has never been the World Champion, and he thought the NWA was the right place to do it.

**********

Tim Storm was on commentary. Bennett asked him what he thought of Scurll being in the NWA. Storm said that he thought Aldis and Scurll should have a match, and that it would be a good one.

**********

Eli Drake came out and had a hoarse voice from the attack by Ken Anderson at Into the Fire. Drake asked why he wasn’t in the TV title tournament. He thought he put Anderson behind him, but Anderson had to attack him from behind and put a chair on his head and ram him into the ring post.

Drake said that he was still here — and he wanted a no DQ match tonight. This was another excellent promo, even while selling the throat injury.

Eli Drake defeated Ken Anderson in a no DQ match

This didn’t start with a lock up as Drake and Anderson began throwing punches again. Anderson chopped Drake in the corner, and the crowd rallied behind Drake. Drake hit a Russian leg sweep on Anderson and clotheslined him over the top rope. Drake and Anderson brawled into the crowd and up the steps.

Drake jammed Anderson’s head into a chair and kneed it into his head before kicking Anderson low and moving up the stairs further. Anderson grabbed a fan and asked for help, which was a nice little spot. They fought all the way up to the top of the studio and Anderson threw something at Drake. Drake threw Anderson through the curtain, and Anderson crashed into a door.

Anderson pointed to the poster of Drake on the wall, but Drake fought out, pushed Anderson’s face into the guardrail, and then grabbed a fan’s phone and took a video as he leaned on Anderson’s face. Anderson took that time to fight out and slam the gate at the top of the stairs into Drake’s head.

Anderson threw Drake head-first into the stairs and threw a chair into the ring. Anderson set up the chair in the ring and went for the Mic Check into the chair again, but Drake blocked it and hit a drop toe hold into the chair. The crowd popped huge for this little spot, which goes to show you can do more with less.

Drake looked like he was going to kill Anderson with the chair, but he threw it away and then hit the Gravy Train for the pinfall.

This definitely solidified Drake as a babyface — and he got a massive reaction from the crowd. This was a very fun match.

As Drake was getting ready to go backstage, Aldis came out and started arguing with Tim Storm. Aldis said that Storm should keep his name out of his mouth, so I guess that Aldis took exception to Storm talking about Scurll. Aldis said that Storm’s time has come and gone, and Storm said, “You want to go?” and got into the ring.

The crowd went nuts and both men started shoving each other as The Wild Cards ran out and attacked Tim Storm. Aldis did absolutely nothing and let them attack the former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.

Kamille came out and started shoving Aldis and getting in his face, but then she turned around and speared Tim Storm! It seems like Kamille is still working with Aldis, and Kamille started kissing Tom Latimer.

It appears that we have a new stable in the NWA, as Aldis has officially turned heel. The top heel group has formed, and they did the old Horseman beatdown on Tim Storm. Aldis posed with his new group.

This was an absolutely fantastic episode of NWA Power with some very big angles. I wonder what’s next for Aldis and Tim Storm?

VIDEO: NWA Power episode 10 – ‘The Villain Effect’

The second season of NWA Power debuts at 6:05 p.m. Eastern time tonight:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpU_VzomKkk

The show will follow up on this past weekend’s Into the Fire pay-per-view and Marty Scurll’s appearance at the end of the show. Scurll confronted NWA Worlds Champion Nick Aldis after he retained his title against James Storm at the PPV. Tonight, two interviews with Scurll will air.

After announcing the return of their Television title at Into the Fire, the wrestlers who will be vying for the championship will be revealed tonight. There will also be a play-in match.

Eli Drake defeated Ken Anderson in their match at Into the Fire but was attacked by Anderson in an angle later in the show. That leads to a no disqualification match between the two tonight.

The NWA is also advertising that Tag Team Champions The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express will be in action and that Thunder Rosa, Melina, The Dawsons, The Wild Cards, and more will appear.

NWA Into the Fire live results: Nick Aldis vs. James Storm

The NWA’s first pay-per-view since the debut of NWA Power takes place tonight as GPB Studios in Atlanta hosts Into the Fire.

The PPV will be headlined by NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis defending his title against James Storm in a two-out-of-three falls match. In storyline, Storm has chosen Brian Hebner as the referee for one of the falls and Aldis has chosen former NWA Champion Tim Storm for another. After speculation about what she whispered in James Storm’s ear on an NWA Power episode, Aldis has also said that his manager Kamille has the night off tonight.

Two other title matches are set for the show. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express will defend their Tag Team titles against Thomas Latimer & Royce Isaacs, while Colt Cabana will defend his National Championship against Aron Stevens and Ricky Starks in a triple threat match.

NWA Women’s Champion Allysin Kay & Ashley Vox vs. Melina & Marti Belle, Eli Drake vs. Ken Anderson, Thunder Rosa vs. Tasha Steelz, and Trevor Murdoch vs. The Question Mark round out the card for Into the Fire. The PPV is available via Fite TV and will begin at 6:05 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

NWA Into the Fire opene with a voice over from Nick Aldis as highlights are shown from NWA Power leading into the PPV. Stu Bennett and Joe Galli ran down the card, and then the music hit for Eli Drake, who walked through the crowd down to the ring. Ken Anderson then made his entrance, high fiving the fans, ready for this grudge match with Drake.

Eli Drake defeated Ken Anderson

Anderson faked out a fan with giving out his t-shirt, which was weird, given that he’s the babyface based on how this is booked. Both men excahnged some basics in the ring, with Anderson getting the best of a hammerlock exchange, keeping Drake grounded. Anderson hit a clothesline and a slame, and sent Drake into the opposite corner before hitting another clothesline. Anderson facewashed Drake, and drake rolled to the floor. Anderson followed Drake back into the ring and hit an elbow. Anderson hit the ropes but Drake countered with a stun gun and then a neckbreaker for a 2 count.

Drake hit a running powerslam and an elboow for a 2 count, before knocking Anderson into the middle rope with a drop toe hold. Drake hit a kick and then a slingshot shoulder block. Drake countered a roll through and hit a swinging neckbreaker on Anderson in a nice spot. Anderson kicked out at 2 and Drake locked on a chinlock. Anderson fought out and both men exchanged strikes until Anderson hit the steamroller and scored a 2 count. Anderson reversed the Gravy Train into a schoolboy for a 2 count.

Anderson went to the top rope, but Drake jumped from the ring to the top rope and went for a suplex, but Anderson fought it off and went for a sunset flip powerbomb on Anderson. Drake countered into a pinfall and just managed to score the 3 count.

Very solid opening match here. Both guys worked a basic match, but it worked for the audience, and neither did anything they couldn’t do, which is always a win. This was quite good.

**********

Nick Aldis came out and cut a promo about how that the NWA used to be a name for the past, but there was one voice that called the NWA his mountain top, speaking about Tim Storm. Aldis then said that voice became two, with him, and now it is thousands with over 40 countries watching from around the world. He then spoke about James Storm and how he was going to retain his title. Aldis then said he gave Kamille the night off.

James Storm came out to a series of boos. Storm said that at the end of tonight, Aldis would know that he was in the ring with one of the toughest SOBs ever. He promised that he was going to wint the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship tonight, and left with Aldis staring at him and walking backstage. This was excellent. As always, the NWA seems to have the best promos going today.

A video aired for Melina’s debut in the NWA.

**********

Tasha Steelz came out and asked for David Marquez and talked about how she was adding flavour to the NWA. She said that the show was named Into the Fire appropriately because she would be bringing the latina heat. This was very, very good. Thunder Rosa then came out to a huge reaction. The way her career has changed since Lucha Underground is absolutely incredible.

Thunder Rosa defeated Tasha Steelz

Thunder Rosa got a go behind on Tasha, pulled her hair, then chopped her several times. Tasha hit one of her own and then went for a lucha armdrag, but Thunder Rosa countered and hit a clothesline. Thunder Rosa put Steelz into a tree of woe and hit a dropkick to the body for a 2 count. Despite being a heel, Thunder Rosa got a massive babyface reaction, except for when she was cheating in the match. Steelz hit a few chops, but Thunder Rosa counterd with a drop toe hold into a Gory Special.

Steelz dodged a double stomp and hit a pump kick. Tasha hit a series of strikes in the corner and hit a cutter for a 2 count. Steelz went for another cutter, but Thunder Rosa countered and hit a running knee before hitting her double stomp for a the 3 count.

This was a perfectly acceptable match. Thunder Rosa was fantastic here, but Tasha is green. Tasha has a ton of charisma and I’m quite sure she will be a star in the future. There is money in Thunder Rosa, and I hope they are able to push her sooner rather than later.

Thunder Rosa continued her attack after the bell, getting into mounted position and beating on Tasha. Ashley Vox ran down to make the save, but Thunder Rosa hit her with a shoulder breaker and then appeared to dislocate Vox’s elbow. What does this mean for Cox’s tag match later in the evening?

**********

The Question Mark came out with Aron Stevens and performed the Mongrovian Flag Ceremony, and sung the Mongrovian national anthem. This has to be seen to be believed, and I loved it. Trevor Murdoch interrupted the anthem. We were also informed that Stevens became a 3rd degree blackbelt in Mongrovian Karate, which I thought was hilarious.

?The Question Mark? defeated Trevor Murdoch

Question Mark started the match, hitting a chop to Murdoch’s stomach. Murdoch didn’t take kindly to this, hitting a big boot and a big slam. Murdoch called for one more, and Question Mark crashed to the mat a second time. The fans chanted “one more time” so he did, and Question Mark went to the apron.

Murdoch tried to remove Question Mark’s mask, but he fought out and hit a drop toe hold on Question Mark before hitting a series of hard strikes to the back of Question Mark’s head. Question Mark ducked under a shot and hit a Karate chop to Murdoch’s throat. Quesiton mark got a 2 count. Question then hit the ropes and hit two stomps to Murdoch’s face.

Mark hit a dropkick from the middle rope, but Trevor Murdoch got his foot on the ropes. After a few moves, Murdoch went to the top rope and tried to grab the Mongrovian flag. This infuriated Question Mark, who hit a double Mongrovian Spike to the throat of Murdoch for the pinfall victory.

This was fun. Question Mark is ridiculously over, and I love it.

**********

A hype video aired for the Rock n’ Roll Express, and they then came down to the ring to a massive reaction. Ricky Morton cut an amazing promo in the hype video about how they were the 9-time champions now.

The Rock n’ Roll Express w/ Eddie Kingston and Homicide defeated The Wild Cards w/ The Dawsons to retain the NWA World Tag Team Championship

Ricky Morton started the match with Latimer and both men locked up. Morton used a little agility, as he is the smaller man, and sent Latimer into the corner. Latimer shoved Morton into the corner, but Morton slipped out. Morton drew Isaacs to the RnR corner, and Robert tagged in and they hit a double elbow on Issacs.

Gibson tricked Isaacs into running into Latimer, and then Ricky Morton hit a suicide dive on both men!  Isaacs and Latimer started to get the heat on Morton soon thereafter, but it didn’t last long as Morton dodged a splash in the corner from Isaacs and rolled into the tag to Gibson. Gibson ran wild and then locked a sleeper on Latimer.

Isaacs cut him off, but the RnR made the Wild Cards look like fools as they crashed into each other. Morton then hit the Canadian Destroyer on Latimer! The Dawsons started brawling with Homicde and Kingston, which distracted Isaacs. The Rock n’ Roll express hit the double dropkick on Isaacs for the pinfall!

**********

Stu Bennet and Joe Galli announced the next NWA PPV for January, and announced that the NWA was bringing back the NWA Worlds Television Championship

Eli Drake came out and insulted David Marquez and then cut a promo against Aldis. Drake said that he was in James Storm’s camp, but that it really didn’t matter who came out on top, as he wanted the next title shot. Drake talked about how the NWA is the hottest thing going today, and how he was the hottest thing in it.

Drake said that he was the man that shines in the NWA, and he doesn’t care who the champion is. He called Ken Anderson a speedbump, and as he did that, Ken Anderson came out and attacked Drake. Anderson grabbed a chair and wrapped it around Drake’s head before sending him crashing into the ring post. The referees came out and pulled Anderson away.

Anderson fought away from security and then hit the Mic Check face first into the standing steel chair. The referees rushed the ring to check on Drake, and it the crowd booed Anderson. Was this a heel turn? It’s a little hard to keep track of who the heels and babyfaces are in this feud. Drake did win clean, and Anderson is showing that he is a sore loser, so it could have been a double turn. I suppose we will find out more later.

This was a very good angle.

**********

Allysin Kay came out without a partner for her match with Melina and Marti Belle, and after they made their entrance, Kay’s replacement partner was announced: ODB!

Melina & Marti Belle defeated Allysin Kay and ODB

Kay started the match with Marti Belle, and Kay took this chance to beat the crap out of Belle for turning on her a few weeks back. Kay hit a huge chop and then 10 punches in the corner to the roar of the crowd. Kay got disctarted by Melina, and Belle rolled her up for a 2 count. Kay hit a neckbreaker on Belle for a 2 count. Kay then pulled Melina into the ring and went for the Dude Buster, but Melina rolled through into a sunset flip and then Marti Belle hit Kay wit ha running knee.

Marti Belle then tagged out to Melina who came in and started working over Kay. Despite her babyface style promos on Power, Melina was clearly working like a heel here. Melina went for a DDT, and botched it, falling way before Kay did. Belle hit a Russian legsweep on Kay for a 2 count. It’s probably best that Belle do the wrestling in this tag team, as Melina isn’t very good at all, and she hasn’t wrestled for a long time. Melina went for a kick, but Kay dodged and tagged out to ODB, who ran all over the ring hitting power moves on Belle.

Kay went for the Dude Buster on Melina, but she fought out. Marti hit the pedigree on Kay, but ODB then hit the BAM on Belle for the pinfall.

This match was perfectly fine with Marti Belle and Kay in there. Melina did not look good at all. The best usage of Melina might be having her cut promos and let Belle and Thunder Rosa do the wrestling. ODB was fine. Nothing spectacular. I still think the money for them is in Kay vs. Thudner Rosa long term, and I do believe they will go towards that.

**********

Aron Stevens (w/ ?The Question Mark?) defeated Colt Cabana & Ricky Starks for the NWA National Championship

Ricky Starks went right after Stevens and Cabana and Starks hit double bionic elbows on Stevens. Cabana went for a pinfall but Starks broke it up. As he argued with Cabana, Cabana blocked a kick from Stevens and threw his foot into Starks and kicked Stevens’ leg. Starks hit a dropkick on Stevens, which sent him to the floor. Stevens then went and hid behind the Christmas tree by the announce desk. Cabana and Starks then exchanged holds for the next few minutes, trying to best one another.

Cabana hit a shoulder block, but after a few go overs, Starks hit a shoulder block of his own and then a crossbody off the middle ropes. Cabana rolled through for a 2 count. Stevens ran back into the ring, did several Mongrovian Karate poses, and was dropped by Starks and Cabana who proceeded to chop the crap out of him in the corner. Cabana then threw Starks to the floor. Stevens was sent to the apron, but Cabana dodged an attack by Starks.

The Question Mark went onto the apron and distracted Cabana so that Stevens could hit a low blow on Cabana. Stevens then hit a rolling elbow and got a 2 count on Starks. Stevens hit a wacky elbow and then kneed Starks in the face and hit a headbutt on Cabana. Stevens was attacking Starks in the corner, and Question Mark laid Cabana out on the floor. Stevens told the crowd to shut up as he hit a suplex on Starks for a two count.

Stevens knocked Cabana off the apron and then continued his assault on Stevens. Stevens hit a lariat on Starks and got a 2 count. Stevens tried to knock Cabana off the apron again, but Cabana fought out and got back into the ring, only to have Stevens manage to throw him out again. Starks hot back to his feet and hit a sling blade on Stevens. Cabana and Starks hit a series of atomic drops, killing Stevens’ crotch, and then both men did the wishbone split. Starks hit a dropkick on Cabana and fell into a senton on Stevens for a 2 count.

Starks hit an elbow on Cabana and went for a tornado DDT, but Cabana pushed him off before it hit. Starks managed to lock on an abdominal stretch, but Cabana fought out and locked on the Billy Goat’s Curse on Starks. Starks crawled to the ropes and bit the ropes to break it. Aron Stevens hid himself under the sheet beneath the Christmas tree. Starks and Cabana exchanged several pinfall attempts, but after the Superman Pin attempt by Cabana, The Question Mark hit Cabana with the Mongrovian Spike. Question Mark held Starks outside the ring, and Stevens ran into the ring and pinned Colt Cabana!

This was actually a very fun match. The finish was something they built to from the very start of the match, and it was a classic heel win, as I don’t think Stevens hit one offensive move in the match.

**********

Tim Storm came out and cut a promo about the main event, as Aldis picked him to be the referee. Storm talked about how much it meant for him to be a part of the PPV. He promised that he was going to do his best to call it down the middle, and that both men were going to battle for the NWA Worlds Championship, which is his heart and soul. The title means so much to him that he was going to do his best to represent the NWA. Excellent promo from Storm here.

A hype video aired for Aldis and James Storm, with James Storm saying that when what Kamille said to him comes out, it’s going to change everything. Aldis said that this is why he gave her the night off. The crowd went nuts when we came back live, and they are ready for the NWA Worlds Championship match. James Storm got a huge amount of boos coming out, while Nick Aldis got an incredible reaction as he came down to the ring. There is no question that the fans think he is the man in wrestling, and Aldis does a great job carrying himself as such.

Nick Aldis vs. James Storm for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in a Best 2 out of 3 Falls Match

Brian Hebner was the referee for the first fall. Storm and Aldis locked up and chain wrestled with both men displaying good technique in the early portions of the match. James Storm talked about having a surprise for Aldis, and Kamille walked out. Aldis tried to send her to the back, but as he turned around, James Storm hit a superkick and pinned Aldis right away! Kamille walked away and disappeared after the pinfall. What does this mean for her relationship with Aldis?

Second Fall: Referee Tim Storm

Storm continued the attack on the outside, sending Nick Aldis into the stairs at ringside. Storm took Aldis into the crowd and up the stairs, dropping Aldis about halfway up. James Storm hit Aldis with a drink and Aldis staggered down the stairs until Storm grabbed him and smashed his head into the interview podium. James Storm then suplexed Aldis on the floor and did a Fargo Strut as the crowd said “Wooooo!” Nick Aldis managed to roll into the ring at the count of nine, but Storm threw him to the floor again.

James Storm tried to Irish whip Aldis into the Christmas Tree, but Aldis countered and sent storm crashing into the Mongrovian tree (according to Bennett, this is where they got it). The fans chanted “Merry Christmas” as James Storm managed to recover and hit a baseball slide dropkick on Aldis. Aldis still hadn’t fully recovered from the suplex on the floor, so Storm was able to go right back into an advantage after being thrown into the tree.

Storm continued to beat on Aldis in the middle of the ring before going to the middle rope. Storm went for an axe handle, but Aldis caught him and hit a belly-to-belly suplex. Both men got to their feet and Aldis hit two clotheslines, but Storm countered and hit Eye of the Storm for a 2 count. James Storm rolled to the floor and grabbed a steel chair. Tim Storm told him that he would DQ James Storm if he used it. James Storm gave the chair to Tim Storm, who removed it from the ring.

Nick Aldis countered an attack from James Storm and after a few pinfall counters, Nick Aldis was able to score the flash pinfall! A coin was flipped and Brian Hebner won the toss.

Third Fall: Brian Hebner

Both men stated brawling, but Aldis managed to hit a Michinoku Driver for a 2 count. Storm hit a jawbreaker and Aldis was able to counter the Back Stabber twice, but Storm was finally able to hit it on the third try, but Aldis kicked out. Storm ended up on the apron, dodging an Aldis charge, and hit an enziguri before going to the top rope. Aldis cut him off and then hit a superplex off the middle rope for the 2 count.

Aldis put Storm on the top rope and went for another superplex, but Storm fought out with a series of heabutts and then hit a huge flying elbow on Aldis for a 2 count. Both men ended up on their feet, but as James Storm went for a superkick, Aldis was able to catch it and went for the Figure Four. Storm rolled Aldis up to counter, but only got a 2. Storm recovered and locked on a Figure Four Leglock of his own. After a struggle, Aldis was able to reverse the preassure but James Storm made the ropes.

James Storm went for a float over in the corner, but Aldis caught him and hit a tombstone in the middle of the ring before going onto the top rope. Aldis bit a flying elbow dropw for a 2. No count, as Granny would say. Aldis hit a big chop on Storm and sent him to the ropes. Storm ducked a clothesline, but Aldis managed to clothesline the crap out of Brian Hebner by accident. Hebner took a flip bump, which was awesome. Tim Storm came down to the ring to check on Hebner as Aldis hit a DDT on James Storm.

James Storm countered an Aldis sunset flip for a 2 count. Storm hit a superkick and Aldis fell back into the corner. As Storm rolled Aldis up, Aldis pulled the turnbuckle pad off and kicked out at 2. As Aldis kicked out, James Storm flew headfirst into the exposed turnbuckle! Nick Aldis then picked up the legs of James Storm and locked on the Texas Cloverleaf! Tim Storm reluctantly called for the bell, as the crowd booed Aldis. Was Tim Storm in on this with Aldis, or is Tim Storm going to go after the title again after seeing this injustice?

A series of officials ran out to check on James Storm as Tim Storm raised Nick Aldis’ hand. This was an excellent match, and the finish was just the right combo of clever while putting heat on Aldis. Stu Bennet was pointing out that Nick Aldis should have been DQ’d for striking the referee, and had questions about the turnbuckle pad being so easily removed. Aldis went back to David Marquez to cut a promo after the match.

Nick Aldis said that the ring belonged to him and the fans. He said that men like him and James Storm find purpose in that rin, and that the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship is how he tells the world who he is. Aldis then said “There is not a man alive that can take this from me!” The lights went out, and Marty Scurll’s music hit! Marty Scurll is in the NWA! The crowd went insane for Marty as he walked down to the ring and faced off with Nick Aldis as the show went off the air.

Well, I can’t say I was expecting that. The crowd went absolutely insane for Scurll, and it appears he’s in the NWA, at least for now. What an excellent PPV from the NWA. I am definitely intrigued about where this is going.

NWA Power results: Rock ‘n’ Roll Express challenge for Tag titles

Tonight, in what had to be one of the most anticipated episodes of NWA Power, we saw The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express take on The Wild Cards for the NWA Tag Team titles. The show opened with a hype video for the match and the upcoming NWA Into the Fire PPV on Fite.

Joe Galli welcomed the fans to the season finale of NWA Power and thanked them for tuning in.

Before the first match, Aron Stevens came out with The Question Mark. Stevens wanted a shot at Colt Cabana’s NWA National Championship. Cabana gave up his match with Ricky Starks and said that if Stevens could beat Starks, Cabana would give him a title shot. Stevens sent Question Mark to the back.

**********

Aron Stevens defeated Ricky Starks

Starks started the match by hitting a slingblade and a spear for a two count. Soon after, Stevens collapsed and held his knee. Question Mark came back out to check on Stevens — and Stevens distracted the referee while Question Mark hit the Mongrovian Spike on Starks for Stevens to get the win.

**********

Galli announced that both competitors in the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match at Into the Fire on December 14 would be able to pick their own referee for fall one and two, with a coin being flipped to determine the ref if it goes to a final fall.

A video aired with James Storm saying that it was killing Nick Aldis that Kamille whispered something to him and Aldis doesn’t know what it was. Storm went on about how the NWA didn’t want him to hold the National title and that the NWA is against him because they had several unaired segments with him.

Storm accused Aldis of ducking him, and then he named Brian Hebner as his referee.

**********

A video of the stars of the NWA appearing at WrestleCade aired, including The Great Muta going face-to-face with Aldis and Question Mark with various shenanigans.

**********

David Marquez interviewed Melina and she said that the women were merely the commercial break until she arrived. She said she brought out the best in people and that she knew that she could bring out the best in the other wrestlers in the NWA. Melina said that she was going to take the title from Allysin Kay. Kay came out and promised to take it to Melina.

Kay challenged her to a fight right now and went into the ring. Melina bailed out and walked away to the other side of the ring, then Marti Belle and Thunder Rosa ran out and attacked Kay. Melina walked into the ring slowly, directing the troops as Belle hit Kay with a Pedigree and left her laying in the middle of the ring.

**********

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express cut a promo about how they wanted to have one last run as NWA World Tag Team Champions.

**********

Aldis talked about the triple threat number one contender’s match that did not air between Eli Drake, Ken Anderson, and James Storm. Aldis said that Storm inserted himself into the match because Drake and Anderson was a singles match. Aldis said “We ain’t in TNA anymore.”

Aldis asked “What have you done to earn your shot at this title?” He said that the triple threat was a disaster with interference, and the NWA didn’t even recognize it.

So why was James Storm getting a title shot? Because Aldis asked for it. He said the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and Storm is the squeakiest wheel he’s ever met. Aldis said he was going to drown him in the grease. He said the only way that Storm was going to realize that he didn’t want this was by Aldis giving him exactly what he wanted and making him regret it.

Aldis talked about how he had experience in this type of match, as he won the title back from Cody in two-out-of-three falls. Aldis then named Tim Storm as his referee. Holy crap, this was unbelievably great.

The interviewer then asked about Kamille. Aldis was visibly bothered and said again “If you don’t see Kamille by my side, her actions are her own.” Aldis said that all this questioning has made Kamille ineffective, that he was giving Kamille the night off at Into the Fire, and that he didn’t want James Storm to have anything to complain about.

Aldis and James Storm both cut money promos here, but Aldis was still on another level. Aldis has become one of the best promos in wrestling right now, and I believed every word he said. How Impact missed on this guy as the foundation of the company blows my mind.

**********

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) defeated The Wild Cards (Thomas Latimer & Royce Isaacs) to win the NWA Tag Team titles

Morton started the match with Latimer, and Latimer drove Morton to the mat with a shoulder block. Morton tagged out to Gibson and they hit a double shoulder tackle to a big pop.

Gibson hit an elbow to Isaacs and Latimer tagged out to him so he could get revenge. Isaacs broke out of a full nelson, then dodged a corner charge that sent Gibson into the corner post.

Isaacs started to get the heat on Gibson and tagged out to Latimer to continue the attack. Latimer and Isaacs worked over the shoulder and wrapped Gibson up in the ropes. Latimer went for a splash, but Gibson moved and Latimer crashed head-first into the corner. Gibson tagged out to Morton — and he ran wild, locking the sleeper on Isaacs.

Latimer broke the sleeper, but Gibson and Morton managed to hit the double dropkick on Latimer. Isaacs broke it up and threw Morton to ringside. Latimer grabbed Gibson. Isaacs went for a shot on him, but Gibson dodged and Isaacs crashed into Latimer.

Morton came back in and rolled up Isaacs and pinned him — so The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express became nine-time NWA World Tag Team Champions!

This was a very fun tag match. Gibson and Morton are still very good despite their age, and this was a wonderful feel-good story. After the match, Jim Cornette came into the ring and celebrated with them. Galli then thanked Cornette for his contributions to the NWA, and I am not sure if that was the wisest thing to do.

**********

Aldis closed the show by announcing the man that would replace Cornette on the broadcast team, saying that it might be considered bad news for some, as Stu Bennett (formerly Wade Barrett in WWE) joined the NWA commentary team.

This was a very solid go-home show for the NWA. I question the wisdom of the little tribute they did for Cornette, despite Cornette’s skill as a performer, because of all the controversy surrounding him.

VIDEO: NWA Power episode nine – ‘One More Time’

Tonight’s edition of NWA Power is being billed as the show’s season one finale:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Te3bgqh3Foo

A Tag Team title match will air on the episode, with The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express attempting to become nine-time NWA Tag Team Champions as they take on The Wild Cards (Thomas Latimer & Royce Isaacs).

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis will defend his title against James Storm in a two-out-of-three falls match at Into the Fire on December 14. We’ll hear from Aldis and Storm tonight, and both will choose a referee for their title match at the pay-per-view.

The challenger for Colt Cabana’s NWA National Championship at Into the Fire will also be revealed on tonight’s show.

With him resigning after the offensive comment he made on commentary on the NWA Power episode that aired two weeks ago, tonight’s Power will be the last one called by Jim Cornette. The NWA wrote: “We thank Jim for his support of the National Wrestling Alliance in Season 1, and his over thirty plus years with the organization. His call of the Rock N Roll Express match is an exemplary display of his many talents, and we wish Jim nothing but the best moving forward.”

The NWA will announce who is joining the broadcast team at Into the Fire at the end of tonight’s episode.

New episodes of Power will resume airing on December 17.

NWA Power results: Mask vs. Shakespeare reading match

The show opened with a summary of the story between Nick Aldis and Kamille, ending with her talking to James Storm.

**********

Eli Drake was at Championship Wrestling from Hollywood and was interviewed by David Marquez. Drake said that The Rock, Steve Austin, and Ric Flair are all names he’s been compared to. Drake took offense that he has been compared to Nick Aldis, and while Drake agreed that Aldis is the man, he was offended that Aldis thought there were no challengers.

Drake claimed he was a challenger, but he had to deal with Ken Anderson first. That was another comparison that was made, and Drake said that he didn’t see it because he was a world class athlete. It looks like we’ll be getting Drake vs. Anderson soon. Drake’s promo here was fantastic.

**********

Joe Galli recapped the return of Melina and Thunder Rosa’s MMA debut for Combate Americas. The video showed her preparing before the show, getting ready to walkout, and then followed her to the cage. It then flashed back to her training with Brazilian Top Team.

Thunder Rosa talked about the kids she helped work with before she got into wrestling and MMA. She talked about how wrestling was an outlet to help her get through the pain of trying to help those kids. She said she helped kids process their emotions but wasn’t able to process hers. Galli then promised us more later.

Aron Stevens cut a promo about how Ricky Starks made him look like a fool. The Question Mark was with him, and Stevens promised that if Question Mark lost the empty arena match, The Question Mark would unmask. Stevens said that if Zane Dawson lost, The Dawsons would have to recite Shakespeare.

The Question Mark (w/ Aron Stevens) defeated Zane Dawson (w/ Dave Dawson) in a mask vs. Shakespeare reading match

The Question Mark chopped Zane, hit the ropes, and ate a knee from Zane. Zane choked Question Mark on the ropes, but as the ref counted, Zane got distracted by him. Question Mark chopped Zane in the throat, hit a dropkick off the middle rope, and then hit the Mongrovian spike for the three count.

I guess the Dawsons have to recite Shakespeare. As they read it, Stevens looked like he was going to vomit and pulled a garbage can out of the ring. The Dawsons put on a fake English accent, and I admit that I found this really funny. Galli then announced that The Question Mark would be taking on Trevor Murdoch at the NWA’s Into the Fire pay-per-view.

Galli sat down with Melina and she talked about why she liked pro wrestling and how she has been able to be a role model for people. Melina said she didn’t just walk into anywhere, it had to be worthy of her name. She said she liked to be a part of something new and the NWA was it. Melina claimed that before her people didn’t care about entrances, and things like that, and claimed that she didn’t get the credit she deserved.

Galli asked what Melina’s plans were for Allysin Kay, and Melina said that she had a problem with Kay thinking she is the best. She said Kay was carrying around the NWA Women’s Championship like an accessory and that it means more than that. Melina said Thunder Rosa and Marti Belle were worthy of being champions, and Kay doesn’t know how they have all fought to be where they are. She said that she will either make Kay appreciate what she has or appreciate what she had when she loses.

This was fine, but I’m not sure Thunder Rosa is going to be helped by Melina in the long run. Melina came across as a babyface in this promo. I’m not sure if that was the intention, but most of it was good.

The next part of “Into the Cage” aired with Thunder Rosa preparing for the fight and warming up in the cage. She was also shown warming up backstage after getting her fists taped. We saw her after the fight, and she was very emotional after losing. The coaches reminded her that she didn’t crumble under the pressure. This was absolutely fantastic.

There wasn’t a lot of wrestling action on this episode of NWA Power, but the interviews were great, and the Thunder Rosa video was incredible.

Galli then ran down the matches announced for NWA Into the Fire so far. He announced that Eli Drake would be facing Mr. Anderson, and that Nick Aldis will defend his NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship against James Storm in a two-out-of-three falls match. Galli promised that he was going to ask Aldis about Kamille’s conversation with Storm next week. I can’t wait.

This is the first NWA Power episode to air since Jim Cornette resigned from the promotion after offensive comments he made on commentary on last week’s show.

The NWA is hyping that NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis’ challenger for Into the Fire will be revealed tonight. The pay-per-view is taking place on Saturday, December 14.

After making her NWA debut last week, Melina will sit down for an interview with Joe Galli. She’s aligned with Thunder Rosa and Marti Belle against NWA Women’s Champion Allysin Kay.

Tonight’s show will also go behind the scenes on Thunder Rosa’s first mixed martial arts fight for Combate Americas. The NWA wrote that “this is never before seen footage from her training and.what it was like in her locker room after the fight.”

Plus, The Question Mark will be in action in an empty arena match.

Jim Cornette resigns from NWA

Following a now-deleted offensive comment on NWA Power, Jim Cornette has resigned from the NWA effective immediately.

The company made the following announcement Wednesday morning:

“Effective immediately: Jim Cornette has resigned from the National Wrestling Alliance. As an announcer on the November 19th edition of NWA Power, Jim made remarks during a singles match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch that were both offensive and do not meet the high standards of decency and good faith of the National Wrestling Alliance.

To ensure that such an error can never happen again, we’ve established new procedures of review for all NWA programming going forward.

We sincerely regret our failure in this regard.”

During the Aldis-Murdoch match, Cornette said Murdoch was the only man he has ever known that “could strap a bucket of fried chicken on his back and drive a motor scooter across Ethiopia.” David Lagana released an apology and took down the episode temporarily before uploading a new version with the comment edited out.

After silence last night, Cornette tweeted Wednesday morning:

Morning everybody! Heard any good jokes lately?

This coming Friday’s Jim Cornette Experience (wherever you find your favorite podcasts) is liable to be a good one if you like hearing stupid people told what they can do with their stupidity.
