NWA Power results: Matt Cardona vs. Tim Storm

The show opened with highlights from the Crockett Cup with Tim Storm getting involved with Matt Cardona and then the aftermath with Cardona issuing a challenge to Storm.

The show wasted no time with Cardona and Storm facing off. If Storm won, his stipulation that he could never challenge for the NWA World title would be waived.

NWA World Champion Matt Cardona defeated Tim Storm in a non-title match

This was a quick match, but a great one. Storm got some good hope spots while Cardona had to cheat to win.

Storm took the early parts of the match with a bionic elbow and a running boot for a near fall. Cardona blocked a corner charge, but missed a dive off the ropes and tweaked his knee.

However, Cardona was faking and used it as a chance to attack. As Cardona was going for punches in the corner, Storm powerbombed him, hit a big boot, and then hit the Perfect Storm, but Cardona got his foot on the ropes to avoid the pin.

Storm missed a corner charge and Cardona hit the Reboot two times. Storm told him to bring it, so Cardona hit a third and pinned Storm.

Nick Aldis ran in to save Storm from eating a belt shot from Cardona. Aldis beat on Cardona, taking the belt and hitting him with it. VSK tried to come in and he ate a belt shot, too. Mike Knox refused to come in the ring and demanded that he let VSK go. This was a good angle.

– Kyle Davis was promoting several NWA t-shirts from their online store, but Da Pope interrupted him. Pope said he had waited long enough sitting on the sidelines. He indicated that he was going to cash in on Cardona and challenge for the World title.

Rhett Titus defeated Darius Lockhart by dq

I hated the finish on this one, but I did like the follow up with Titus saying he got what he wanted. I’m looking forward to a rematch.

Titus and Lockhart had some great technical exchanges to open the match, with Titus showing off his ROH Pure division skills. Titus used a Greco Roman knuckle lock to bring Lockhart to the mat for a two count. Titus stayed ahead of Lockhart for the next few minutes, always countering and using his experience to keep Lockhart down. Lockhart countered a backslide with a schoolboy, but Titus responded by getting up and hitting a vertical suplex.

Titus locked on a spinning toe hold, but Lockhart escaped by kicking Titus in the face. Titus and Lockhart brawled a bit, exchanging strikes in the corner. Lockhart kept attacking in the corner and the referee DQ’d Lockhart.

Titus said that he got what he wanted because he got in Lockhart’s head. Lockhart said he was going to get him next time as they shook hands. Titus then arrogantly slapped Lockhart’s back, saying that he got him this time.

– The Briscoes were with May Valentine and they talked about winning the Crockett Cup and their desire for the NWA Tag Team titles. They are coming for La Rebelion.

– Chris Adonis and National Champion Jax Dane were at the podium with Davis. Adonis made it clear that Dane was a newcomer to the NWA National title scene, and he wanted to get his title back. Dane said that Adonis shouldn’t underestimate him and he was open for challengers. Adonis then challenged Dane for the Master Lock challenge, but Dane refused, saying that the title couldn’t change hands on a challenge and he didn’t get paid to do those. Looks like Chris Adonis is a babyface now.

Trevor Murdoch defeated Garrison Creed

Murdoch dodged a corner charge and Creed crashed into the ring post. Murdoch just shook his head, hit two big boots and a piledriver, and pinned Creed in less than a minute.

He went right to the podium and said that he was here in the NWA to focus on himself, and maybe if he did that, he would still be world champion. Aron Stevens came out and said Murdoch hasn’t answered his calls or texts since he lost the title. Stevens reminded Murdoch that he won the NWA World title and that he needed to get out of his own head. Stevens said that the Murdoch he knew never gave up. Murdoch dropped Stevens when he began to sing, irritating Murdoch further.

– Billy Corgan was with Valentine and talked about Lockhart and Titus, saying Titus is going to get a title shot soon for the Junior Heavyweight title. Corgan made it clear that Aldis did not have another shot at the World title right now, because his shot was at the Crockett Cup. Murdoch is entitled to a title shot when he wishes to have it. Pope wanted to have a title shot on the biggest stage, so Corgan is still trying to find when that will happen.

Tyrus Slam Challenge

Cyon came out to challenge TV Champion Tyrus for the Tyrus Slam Challenge. Cyon got three attempts to slam him and if he succeeded, he would get a TV title shot. Cyon tried, but Tyrus shoved him off. The second attempt got a little closer, but Tyrus leaned back into the ropes to block it.

Austin Idol beckoned Cyon over and whispered something into his ear, presumably about his parentage, This clearly caused an emotional reaction in Cyon as he turned away from Tyrus. Tyrus shoved the referee away and hit a heart punch as soon as he turned around with the challenge ending before Cyon got his third attempt.

Final Thoughts:

This episode of NWA Power had some good wrestling with Storm and Cardona and a really good match with Lockhart vs. Titus. However, the action was secondary to the angles with some great promos setting up future matches. I find what they are doing with Murdoch to be compelling, but I am not sure where it is going.

I like the idea of Pope getting a title shot soon, so we shall see when that happens. The Cyon storyline about his father potentially being Idol is an interesting one. I am eager to find out how it is going to conclude.

NWA Power results: Cardona & Knox vs. Strictly Business vs. Storm & Murdoch

NWA Power opened with a promo from Melina saying that she should be the permanent number 1 contender because of her status as a legend. It’s a heel line, but I think she’s the babyface here. Babyfaces should be willing to work their way up the card, and Melina did not want to, so this was confusing to say the least.

That led into our first match.

Kiera Hogan defeated Jennacide (w/ Taryn Terrell), Kenzie Paige and Christi Jaynes to become the number 1 contender to the NWA Women’s title

This was an excellent match from all four as they put on quite the show. You have to think places like AEW would want to fill out their women’s division with the talent seen here. Hogan has an AEW contract, but she would be a great get for any organization out there.

Everyone tried to take out Jennacide at the onset, including Kenzie Paige hitting a dive on her. Hogan hit a dropkick in the corner on Jaynes while Jennacide pulled Hogan to the floor. Hogan went for a wheelbarrow on Jennacide, but Jaynes ran in and hit a cutter on Hogan for the two count in a cool spot.

Jaynes chopped Jennacide, who no sold it and chopped her back before hitting a fall away into a DDT. Paige and Hogan hit double superkicks on Jennacide. Paige then hit Hogan with a superkick, followed by Jaynes hitting a palm strike and ushigoroshi on Paige.

Jaynes hit a moonsault to the floor on all three women, but Hogan came back in and hit Face the Music (a swinging fisherman’s neckbreaker) for the pinfall to earn the title shot.

— The OGK (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) & Tag Team Champions La Rebelion were backstage with Homicide. Homicide bad-mouthed The OGK, asking why they were there. Bennett and Taven said they wanted a match against them for the titles, but La Rebelion said that they weren’t worthy. Bennett told Homicide to keep his boys in line and a brawl almost broke out.

— Jax Dane was with Kyle Davis and continued to talk about Anthony Mayweather (Crimson). Dane claimed that he set up Mayweather’s match against Mims tonight. Mims is the student of Mayweather, so he wanted to see how bad Mayweather wanted another match against him, going through his student.

Dane started bad-mouthing the NWA legends and Rodney Mack, the husband of Jazz, decided that was disrespectful and took him out to end the segment.

Anthony Mayweather defeated Mims by countout

This was an interesting way to book the match, but in this case, I think the finish served the story. Mims didn’t want Mayweather to play into the hands of Dane. Mayweather understood it as business and wanted his trainee to wrestle. Mims, in the end, was the one manipulated. If it goes somewhere, it’s interesting.

Mayweather and Mims exchanged some offense, but Mims kept letting up on him every time he had the advantage. Mims said he couldn’t do it and that Dane was manipulating both of them. Mayweather said it was just business and they should fight. Mims laid down for the pin, and Mayweather said that there was no honor in winning that way, so give him a fight.

Both men left the ring and Mayweather told him that this was part of his training, but Mims threw Mayweather into the ring before they could both get counted out, giving the teacher the win by countout.

— Cyon was with May Valentine and spoke about how his past doesn’t matter despite Valentine asking about his former NWA champion father. He chose to wore a mask because the past doesn’t matter and was going to continue to fight and prove himself, because Tyrus showed him what he needed to do to get to the top.

DSB (JTG and Dirty Dango) defeated The Rude Dudes (El Rudo & Jamie Stanley)

I like all four guys, but this wasn’t very good. Stanley and JTG, in particular, seemed to struggle, but I have seen far worse.

JTG started with El Rudo. Dango and JTG showed some good tag team offense in the early part with a few double teams on El Rudo. Rudo and Stanley kept the heat up for a few minutes until Dango hit a back suplex before making the tag to JTG.

JTG and Stanley had a bit of a miscommunication when JTG tried to wrap Stanley’s arm around his head and hit a neckbreaker, but it just didn’t come together. JTG got a uranage on Stanley before Dango hit the guillotine leg drop off the top rope for the finish.

NWA Television Champion Tyrus (w/ BLK Jeez, Jordan Clearwater & Marche Rockett) defeated Jaden Roller to retain

This match sucked. Tyrus is so lazy in the ring that he barely moved while doing anything. This was one of the most boring three-minute matches I have ever seen.

Roller hit Tyrus with a jawbreaker after Tyrus lazily shoved Roller to the mat. Roller attacked the knee and kept attacking until hitting a flying clothesline to drop Tyrus. Roller hit an Axe Kick on Tyrus for a two-count.

Tyrus couldn’t get up in time to hit Roller with a punch to the stomach, so Roller just stopped and sold it like Tyrus headbutted him. Wow, Tyrus is bad. Tyrus hit a corner splash and a heart punch for the win. This was horrible.

Cyon defeated Judias (w/ Sinister Minister) via DQ

This also sucked. Judias wasn’t over. I like Cyon, but Judias is terrible.

Judias controlled the early parts of the match with slow, awful offense. Sal Rinauro came out as he is still trying to join Sinister Minister. Judias then threw Rinauro at Cyon for the DQ. Rinauro then asked the Minister if he did good.

Matt Cardona & Mike Knox defeated Strictly Business (Thom Latimer & NWA National Champion Chris Adonis) & NWA World Champion Trevor Murdoch & Tim Storm in a three-way

This was a fine tag match, but was nothing too special.

Knox, Cardona, and Strictly Business seemed to agree that working together to beat on Storm and Murdoch made the most sense. Cardona entered the match when Murdoch was being beat on, but tagged out as soon as Murdoch showed any offense.

Cardona missed a boot scrape and Storm ran wild on Knox and Cardona. Cardona was able to steal the win after everyone exchanged finishers until Cardona hit Radio Silence on Storm.

Final Thoughts:

The opening match was the best on the show with the non-finishes hurting the show a bit. Judias and Tyrus being in featured matches and storylines suck the life out of Power, and the crowd usually responds with silence. I wish anyone else in Idol’s group would wrestle, but Tyrus wrestles the most for them.

The main event was a perfectly fine tag match, but Cardona vs. Murdoch needs to be heated up soon with more promos and angles.

NWA Power Surge results: Tim Storm vs. Thom Latimer

Jeremiah Plunkett defeated Heartthrob Jaden

I was fairly unfamiliar with both of these men before this match; that piece of context is important. Heartthrob’s act seemed like a surface level, almost parodic heel, but I’m blind to his body of work, so there could be something more to his character. Their match was entirely mundane.

Heartthrob opened the match with a stereotypically heelish offence. Plunkett gained control after Heartthrob paid attention to his hair rather than his opponent. Plunkett did not maintain his advantage for long, however.

Heartthrob continued to use dirty tactics and again was interrupted as he took too much time in between offense. A DDT from Plunkett dropped Heartthrob, leaving Plunkett with a win.

Thom Latimer defeated Tim Storm

This was a basic match that delivered. Good stuff.

Latimer tried taking advantage of a distracted Storm before the match began, but failed in his attempt. Storm connected with multiple strikes before Latimer scored a kick to gain control over the former World’s Champion. After a brief back and forth, Latimer raked the eyes, opening Storm up for a piledriver. Storm then failed to kick out of the pin that followed.

[Replay] NWA World’s Women Championship: Kamille (C) defeated Layla Hirsch

This was a re-airing of the EmPowerrr title match. Airing this replay instead of another match in an empty arena was a great call. Hirsch and Kamile had a fantastic match in front of a hot crowd. I can not say enough about this; it was absolutely outstanding. If you missed it during EmPowerrr, seek it out.

Takeaway: This show was a product reintroduction for me. A significant positive for someone unfamiliar with 2021 NWA: the broadcast kept me in the loop to the goings-on of the promotion. The show even went as far as to recap a Nick Aldis match from his time in Mexico’s PTW, screwy finish and all. Good stuff.

The show also felt more genuine than the NWA immediately after the Corgan relaunch. It was less like an imitation of the promotion’s past; instead, it felt like a tribute. All-in-all, this was a breezy watch with a barnburner main event.

NWA Power Surge results: Tim Storm & Sal Rinauro vs. Hawx Aerie

May Valentine interviewed Kamille to start off the show and she listed off some of the greats that were women’s champions in the past, but that it was time for a greater champion to take the NWA’s legacy to a new level.

Kamille talked about how she was sitting next to May at the last show, and was upset that May Valentine talked about Thunder Rosa when Kamille was there to be interviewed. Kamille addressed Rosa’s comments that she was a coward, and talked about how she was going to defeat Serena Deeb.

–May Valentine was with Billy Corgan, and Corgan talked about how Trevor Murdoch was the kind of man that when you mess with him, he will never let it go. Corgan talked about how everyone has a chance in the NWA, and it doesn’t matter their background, he is going to give everyone a chance.

Corgan compared Trevor Murdoch to Jerry Blackwell, given that he is not a traditional looking wrestler, but that he can go. Corgan made the point that the NWA was the land of opportunity and Murdoch is championship material. He was trained by Harley Race, and Aldis was too. Corgan said that Harley was right about both of them, and the main event of When Our Shadows Fall is going to be a great match. Good interview with Corgan here in a rare physical appearance on NWA television.

–Latimer and Kamille talked about being a successful couple in pro wrestling. Latimer touched on his friendship with Aldis and how he wasn’t offended that Aldis said that as long as everyone performs, they’re safe with Strictly Business.

Latimer said Nick Aldis was talking about everyone else, and not him, even though he specifically named Latimer, which is interesting. They also touched on Latimer wanting the tag titles back.

Tim Storm & Sal Rinauro defeated Hawx Aerie (Luke and PJ Hawx)

This was a really great tag match to highlight Hawx Aerie, and Tim Storm and Sal Rinauro worked like the veterans they are. Excellent match.

PJ Hawx and Sal Rinauro started the match with some technical wrestling, and PJ Hawx used his experience as an amateur wrestler to stay on top of Rinauro. Luke Hawx and Tim Storm got in there, and it’s hard to believe he’s PJ Hawx’ father. He’s only 39, but this father and son tag team is a nice hidden gem on the indies based on what I’ve seen in this match.

Storm tagged Rinauro in, hitting a handspring stunner sending Luke Hawx backwards to his son, who tagged in and gained the advantage back against Rinauro. Luke Hawx worked over the back of Rinauro for a bit, and PJ Hawx worked over the arm with some arm bars.

Rinauro made the hot tag to Storm, who ran wild on both men, but PJ Hawx was able to break up a pinfall attempt and he suplexed Rinauro. Storm responded by hitting PJ Hawx with a Cross Rhodes, and then Storm hit his Bossman Slam on Luke Hawx, and Rinauro made the pin for the victory.

–They recapped the botched finish of the War Kings becoming #1 contender, and the masked man interfering and attacking Crimson last week, and the rest of the events leading into Where Our Shadows Fall, where champions Aron Stevens and JR Kratos will face Jax Dane & Crimson and Chris Adonis & Thom Latimer.

–Nick Aldis talked about what it meant to be the NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion, and how he had to do some terrible things to Tim Storm to make it happen. He didn’t want to do those things. It was just what had to be done.

He also talked about Trevor Murdoch, saying he wasn’t afraid of him, but that he believed that Murdoch was not the right kind of person to lead the NWA. He didn’t believe that Murdoch was championship material.

Aldis also talked about Kamille facing Serena Deeb, and Adonis & Latimer being in the triple threat for the tag titles. One thing that sticks out to me here that doesn’t make sense is that Latimer and Adonis were stripped of their #1 contender position by Corgan a few weeks ago. They haven’t earned the shot on TV, so this seems a bit odd to me, unless one of them were the ones to attack Crimson, giving them a reason for being in the match.

Aldis put over Kamille, saying she has flourished under his learning tree, and also talked about the tag title match. This was really good stuff here. He put over the psychology of tag team wrestling and analyzed all 3 teams and their strengths and weaknesses, while insisting that Strictly Business was going to win.

–Billy Corgan was then interviewed. He put over Kamille and how she worked hard to get where she is today, and while Thunder Rosa might say she was handed opportunities, Corgan felt like she earned her position and worked very hard for it. Corgan also talked about Stevens & Kratos, War Kings, and Latimer & Adonis match as a whole.

He explained why the War Kings were in the match, as they had their match stolen from them, and that Latimer & Adonis were added because of Latimer’s background as tag team champion. He didn’t want to be about taking away opportunities, but wanted to let Stevens and Kratos take the opportunity from them. At least they tried to explain it. It isn’t good, but at least they tried to explain it.

Corgan talked about the main event as well, putting over Murdoch and Aldis.

Final Thoughts:

This wasn’t a bad show. Billy Corgan really tried to tie all the stories he was telling together throughout the show, and Nick Aldis was a highlight in the storytelling. Corgan was actually excellent here. It might be good to have him on commentary every week telling these stories, as it will drive it all home a bit better. I understand why he doesn’t want to be on TV all the time, but doing commentary might work well for him.

This was a pretty good show to build the PPV. It also had a good tag match, so I would say between the promos and Corgan explaining things deeply, it was about as good as it could get. One notable missing part was Trevor Murdoch, and it would have helped to have him do a promo or two.

NWA Power results: Team Murdoch vs. Team Aldis

Nick Aldis opened the show saying that Murdoch should have known what was going to happen if he poked his nose in his business. Aldis said that it was time for Murdoch and Adonis to have a fight one more time, but Kyle Davis implied that Aldis wanted to avoid him and didn’t want Murdoch in the NWA.

Aldis took exception to this, but he did offer a spot to Murdoch, asking him to come out with no funny business. Murdoch came out and said he wasn’t going to take the risk of beating Aldis up right now because he didn’t want to put a shot at a title in jeopardy. Murdoch demanded an apology and was seething at Aldis.

Aldis suggested that there be a six-man tag tonight with Adonis & Latimer with a 3rd man against Murdoch, and if he won, he gets a National title shot. If he loses, he gets suspended for 30 days with no pay. Murdoch said that it was funny that as soon as he started targeting Aldis and his title, he backpedaled on his statements that Murdoch wasn’t worthy of being a champion, but that he didn’t back down from a fight and he was going to take this chance.

Kratos and Sal Rinauro went to a no contest

This was more of an angle than a match, as it set up the mystery man in the main event, and furthered the story that Kratos and Stevens are not getting along. Good angle, bad match.

Poor Sal got beat up badly right from the starting bell, as Kratos used his size to stay on top of Sal. Kratos hit a huge suplex, and May Valentine and Danny Deals came out to try and defend Sal. Deals got chokeslammed, and Kratos continued to pound on Sal as Sal rolled to the ropes and refused to break as the referee ruled it a no contest. Aron Stevens tried to calm Kratos down, but he wouldn’t listen.

Kratos rolled out and walked to the announce desk and got in the face of Tim Storm. Storm stood up and slowly took his headset off. They went face to face, and Storm tried to deescalate the situation as Thom Latimer and Chris Adonis came out and announced that they saw something in Kratos and asked him to be the third man in the main event. Kratos agreed and left ringside as May attended to Sal as Stevens looked on.

Kyle Davis was with Jax Dane and Slice Boogie who are facing off in a No DQ match next week. Boogie talked about how he was just getting wins on top of wins, and Dane lost the last time they were in the ring. For some reason, Boogie was booed in this promo, and Dane was cheered, but I could have sworn it was the other way around before this episode.

NWA World Television Championship: The Pope and Tyrus went to a time limit draw

Austin Idol came out with Tyrus and joined the commentary team, and he was great. Tyrus, however, was not. The Pope tried, that’s all I can really say. This was not a good match. Velvet Sky was really bad on commentary in this match.

The match had the 6:05 time limit, and Tyrus was gassed about 60 seconds into it. Tyrus missed a corner charge, but as Pope went for the Pope Train finish, Austin Idol grabbed his foot and Tyrus hit a corner charge and an elbow for a two-count.

Tyrus locked on a bear hug in a squat position, but couldn’t actually lift Pope out of the position, so he just dropped him and stood up. Pope got up and hit some strikes and an eye poke, which Austin Idol lost his mind over on commentary.

Pope hit a missile dropkick and Idol went back to ringside. Pope hit a crossbody off the apron onto Tyrus. Idol distracted Pope and Tyrus locked on a chokehold as the time limit expired, and Pope was left laying on the outside of the ring.

Thunder Rosa came out and May Valentine informed us that the NWA wanted her and Kamille to end their feud peacefully, so they are requiring advocates to speak on their behalf. Rosa chose Melina, reluctantly, but decided that because of their history, she was the best choice.

Kamille also reluctantly chose Taryn Terrell, who was overjoyed to be picked by Kamille. Melina started and actually cut a good promo about how great Thunder Rosa is, talking about her success in the NWA and AEW. Melina made a good point – Kamille won the number one contendership but has kept going after Rosa, so she was the one that kept this going.

Terrell talked about how Rosa was jealous in the most annoying way possible. Melina suggested that Rosa and Kamille have a rematch since she wasn’t done yet, and puts the #1 contendership on the line.

Terrell said that they would do the match, but there were conditions and they would deliver the list of conditions next week. Melina threw a punch at Terrell, and Rosa tried to get at Kamille as the segment ended.

Team Aldis (Thom Latimer, Chris Adonis, & Kratos) defeated Team Murdoch (Trevor Murdoch, Aron Stevens, & Tim Storm)

This was a heavy heat match and furthered the angle between Murdoch and Aldis. Aldis kept his word and wasn’t involved, but Murdoch still lost and now has to spend 30 days unpaid at home. Not sure what the NWA is going to do with the guy they have been pushing as a top babyface not there. This was a good match.

Murdoch’s partners took their time coming out, and to everyone’s surprise, Aron Stevens joined Murdoch, on the opposite side from his own tag team partner. Sal Rinauro came out, but Tim Storm walked out after and told Rinauro to go to the back.

As the match started, Storm went right for Kratos. Latimer was yelling about how Storm shouldn’t cross them, which seems to be furthering the tension between him and Nick Aldis. Stevens and Kratos were left in the ring, but Stevens didn’t want to fight Kratos, so Tim Storm and Latimer ended up in the ring.

Kratos wanted to fight Stevens, but Stevens was reluctant to face off against his own partner. Stevens went to tag Kratos by instinct once, but soon thereafter went back to his own corner. Sadly, for Stevens, it wasn’t long before they were getting the heat on him.

The heels kept this up for several minutes, with Latimer and Adonis beating on Stevens. Kratos, however, didn’t tag in. He was very joyful seeing Stevens get beat up, but he didn’t tag in right away. Stevens dodged a corner charge from Latimer and managed to make the hot tag to Storm.

Storm ran wild but got distracted when Sal Rinauro got on the apron to cheer storm on, and Adonis took advantage of this and hit a full nelson slam for the pinfall victory. Storm was left laying in the middle of the ring. Kratos refused to help Aron Stevens up as the show went off the air.

Final Thoughts

Trevor Murdoch must go home for 30 days, unpaid now. I asked above, but the question remains: What does the NWA do now without the guy they have positioned in a top babyface role? Will we see a return of the Midnight Rider type angle here with Murdoch? The more I think about it, the more I like that idea.

I’m not sure where they are going to go with this, but having Murdoch appear under a mask and pretend to be someone else could be a really fun 4 weeks, as Murdoch could then outwit Strictly Business leading into the next PPV. If there is no mention of Murdoch on TV, then I think that is a terrible choice, given that they want to push him as a top guy in line for Aldis’ title.

NWA Power results: New National Champion crowned

Nick Aldis opened the show, and said he wanted to discuss an affliction he has been dealing with for a long time – all he knows how to do is win. He doesn’t know how to do anything else, pointing out that he beat Aron Stevens at Back for the Attack, and how Strictly Business won last week too.

Davis asked if Adonis was joining Strictly Business, and Aldis said that they were getting ahead of themselves. As they were talking, Trevor Murdoch came out and confronted Aldis for teaming with him last week after condemning him in the opening promo. Murdoch said that he was in a hospital for a week because of Adonis, and he couldn’t collect pay for his family.

Murdoch demanded another match with Adonis that is no DQ, no countout, and he’ll put the NWA National title on the line. Aldis was offended that Murdoch cut him off, and said the last thing he wants to do if he is worried about missing work is to cross him.

Aldis then reminded him of the number one rule that Harley Race taught them both – never turn your back on your opponent. Chris Adonis came out and attacked Murdoch and beat him down, while Aldis looked on with joy. Referees came out to break it up, and a doctor came out to check on Murdoch.

Fantastic opening segment. Murdoch was able to walk out, but he was clearly hurt again, making this feud even more personal.

**********

Aron Stevens and Kratos were backstage with May Valentine. Stevens talked about Joseph Hudson again, and how he changed his life. Sal Rinauro came onto the screen and asked for a World Tag Team title shot, and Stevens agreed, but said that he better be prepared, as this is the NWA.

Sliced Boogie defeated Jeremiah Plunkett

Good squash match here that further got Sliced Boogie over.

Boogie kept control for most of the match, except for a brief moment with a heat segment from Plunkett. Boogie hit a nice springboard back elbow, but missed a middle rope elbow that allowed Plunkett to get the heat. Plunkett hit a spinebuster for a two count, and then locked in a sleeper on Boogie.

Boogie got out with a back suplex, and nailed Plunkett with a clothesline and a Gotch piledriver (the Deadass Driver) for the pinfall.

**********

Tyrus  (with Austin Idol) defeated Matthew Mims

The wrong guy won this match, as Tyrus worked over Mims with his horrible offense.

Tyrus caught Mims on a crossbody and slammed him before hitting an elbow and locking on the classic NERVE HOLD~! Mims got out and hit a few headbutts to shake Tyrus. Tyrus hit an exploder and a terrible chokeslam for the pinfall.

**********

Fred Rosser and Pope were at the podium. Rosser talked about how Pope was not ready for him because he was taking the TV title. Pope said that he knew Rosser for a long time, and remembered Rosser asking him for advice backstage at shows, which Rosser said off mic that “that was then, this is now”. They formally announced the match as the main event for next week. Great stuff.

**********

Thunder Rosa & Alex Gracia defeated Skye Blue and Jennacide by disqualification

This match was billed as a “Ladies Celebration Match” as Rosa brought in some young talent to the NWA to give them a chance. Blue, Jennacide, and Gracia were all green, but Rosa went out of her way to try and make them all look good.

Skye Blue started the match with Rosa. Blue was clearly green, but there is something there. Rosa rolled with her for some submissions back and forth, staying on top the whole time. Rosa tagged Gracia in, who hit a weak chop on Blue, but Rosa tagged back in and hit one of her own that was brutal.

Rosa and Gracia exchanged quick tags back and forth to keep the advantage. Jennacide was extremely green, but has a unique look and was the biggest woman in the match. She did power moves, including doing some squats while holding Gracia up for a slam. Rosa got the hot tag, but ate a spear from Kamille who ran out for the DQ.

Melina, who was on commentary, came over the ring and started yelling at Kamille. Rosa pulled her away, and as Kamille turned around she came face to face with Jennacide. Both of them were the same size.

**********

Nick Aldis was on commentary for the main event. Joe Galli wanted to address something before the match: would Tim Storm wrestle again? The answer was yes, as Storm is not done yet, but he didn’t want to take away from Aldis as champion and made no excuses – Aldis beat him for the title, even if he doesn’t like how Aldis acts.

Aldis gave a warning to Storm, saying that he was glad that he hadn’t retired, but that he needed to watch his mouth about him and Strictly Business. Looks like we might be getting Aldis and Storm one more time down the line, which I am perfectly fine with.

No DQ: Chris Adonis defeated Trevor Murdoch to win the NWA National title

The story of the match was that Murdoch had an injured neck, so while he was tough, he had little chance against the uninjured Adonis. It was a fast match, but told a great story.

Murdoch came out wearing a neck brace, which Aldis asked if it were wise for him to wrestle with that on. Adonis slammed Murdoch on the floor, as Aldis talked about how Murdoch shouldn’t be out there due to the injury, even though he played a role in it happening.

Adonis worked over the neck for the next few minutes, locked on the Masterlock and hit a full nelson slam. Adonis then picked him up and locked on the Masterlock again, and Murdoch passed out, becoming the new champion via ref stoppage.

Aldis said that this made Adonis an associate of Strictly Business, and that he wanted to celebrate the success of Adonis. Tim Storm looked on in disgust as the show closed.

Final Thoughts:

Really solid episode of NWA Power here, with lots of storylines being hinted at for the future. The one that compels me the most is the real tension we can see between Tim Storm and Nick Aldis. It’s clear Storm is disgusted by the heelish actions of Aldis, but it hasn’t gotten to the point of where he is willing to fight.

I think this is a classic slow burn, where we will see Tim Storm leave the announce desk to take on Strictly Business eventually, possibly ending with Nick Aldis and Tim Storm wrestling for the NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship one last time. I loved this.

I also loved how they’re positioning Thunder Rosa as someone that wants to give new talent a shot on every show. She’s a wonderful babyface, in contrast to Kamille, who selfishly wants all the attention on her.

Lots of good stuff on this episode with future feuds being developed. I’m excited for what the NWA has in store for us down the line.

NWA Power results: Marty Scurll’s counteroffer

It doesn’t take NWA Power to get into the action quickly, as Eli Drake joins Galli and Bennett on commentary.

The Bouncers (Beer City Bruiser & Brian Milonas) w/ Eddie Kingston defeated The Dawson (Dave & Zane Dawson) w/ The Pope

The crowd immediately started chanting “We want beer!” as Mr. Beer started the match with Zane Dawson. Zane and the Bruiser exchanged hard clothesline attempts, but the Beer City Bruiser was too strong and leveled Zane. Dave Dawson tagged in and exchanged chops with Milonas. Mr. Beer tagged in and did several punches with the crowd chanting “Beer!”

Zane tagged in and used some clubbing forearms on the Bruiser in the corner, likely bruising him, in an ironic cruel twist. Beer hit a double clothesline and managed to tag out to Milonas, who hit a running cross body on Zane Dawson, which was insane. Milonas hit a superplex on Zane soon thereafter, and The Bruiser hit a frog splash off the top rope for the 3.

James Storm and the Beer City Bruiser filled the Crockett Cup with beer and started to drink from it. Milonas, Beer, and Storm tried to get Drake to do it, but Drake faked in and drank his protein shake. That was quite hilarious. I love the Beer City Bruiser.

Tom Latimer came out with Kamille to be interviewed about his upcoming match with Tim Storm. Galli said that Latimer might be in line for a title match if he beat Storm, and Latimer brushed it off, as Aldis is his boss. Latimer also refused to talk about the tag team title scene, but cut a promo on the Rock n’ Roll Express. Kamille threatened to slap Galli, but she gently patted him on the face.

Tom Latimer defeated Tim Storm

Latimer attacked storm from behind and started working him over, but Storm clotheslined Latimer to the floor. Latimer landed on his feet, but he wasn’t happy. Both men locked up, but neither were able to get the advantage, so they exchanged shoulder blocks. Latimer indicated that he was going to go for another one, but tried a cheap shot, so Storm blocked it and hit a back body drop on Latimer.

Latimer threw an elbow pad to the ref, and as he did, he hit a throat strike on Storm and then a spear for the 2 count. Latimer continued to work over Storm with a few punches before Tim Storm made a brief comeback, but both men went down after a neckbreaker. Latimer went for a piledriver, but Storm hit a back body drop. He ran to the corner, but Latimer dodged, and he crashed into the ring post. Latimer hit an implant DDT for the win.

After the match, the fake Mama Storm from last week came out, and Tim Storm looked disgusted before leaving the area. I wonder if we will see the real Mama Storm at some point to put this fake one in its place? I’m not a fan of Tim Storm losing a relatively clean match here, but that is just my bias kicking in because I love Tim Storm as a babyface. I legitimately don’t want to see him lose.

*********

Trevor Murdoch cut a promo against Aron Stevens about how he wanted a title match again. He also trash talked Question Mark, and Question Mark came out, grabbed the mic, and began to sing the Mongrovian National Anthem to a applause from the crowd. He then said “Me! You! Karate!” to Murdoch, which I loved because it was so wacky.

*********

Sean Mooney was there with the update from ROH Free Enterprise, as Marty Scurll made a counter offer after being in a match with him and PCO against Nick Aldis & Rush. Marty talked about becoming the NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion. Marty made a counter offer, saying that he would personally write a cheque for $500,000 if Aldis beat him. Aldis accepted the counter offer.

NWA Television Championship: Ricky Starks went to a time limit draw with Matt Cross

Starks and Cross started the match with some technical wrestling, showing that neither man is limited to high flying wrestling. Starks was able to hit a dropkick to the face of Cross when he tried to do a backflip. Cross and Starks traded a few moves back and forth again, and Cross hit a pump kick and back elbow. Cross went for a suplex, but Starks blocked it.

Both men tried for it more than once, and went back and forth before Starks was able to hit a suplex. Starks hit a tornado DDT and got a 2 count. Cross hit the cross cutter and then went for the shooting star press, but the bell rang as he ran out of time. Starks had successfully defended his title due to time limit draw.

Zicky Dice came out and cut a promo about how Starks couldn’t get the job done, but that he finishes every time. Well then.

Honestly, I am not sure I would have done the draw here. I get that they wanted to establish two things: That Matt Cross is tough to beat, and that a draw still counts as a successful defence of the title. However, I think I would have saved the match with Matt Cross for further down the line, and if Starks gets all of the Lucky 7, Cross can say that he never really beat him, and move forward with that as Starks seeks a shot at the NWA World’s Championship.

*********

Marti Belle cut a promo against Allysin Kay and how she didn’t care about her or the fans, and talked about how Melina was the only one that showed that she cared about her. Belle talked about how everything that Melina has predicted has come true. Kay came out and said that she absolutely cared about the fans.

Kay said that Melina was Jim Jones, and Marti Belle was drinking the kool-aid. She said that she was always going to be there for Marti Belle, and that she cared about her. Marti Belle left, angry.

Melina defeated Tasha Steelz

Melina immediately attacked Steelz, and Steelz sold so well for Melina’s offence here that even though parts of it looked weak, Melina looked like a monster compared to her. The match was messy in spots, but Steelz did her best to get a decent match before Melina hit a Primal Scream for the pinfall.

Melina cut a promo about being the best, and demanded a title shot next week against Thunder Rosa, her friend.

*********

Nick Aldis & Royce Isaacs defeated The Rock n’ Roll Express

As the match was beginning, Sal Rinauro and May Valentine made their way down to ringside and sat down in the crowd. Robert Gibson rolled up Isaacs and got a 2 count as he was distracted by May sitting with Sal. Ricky Morton tagged in and they worked over the legs of Royce with a wishbone split. Morton and Gibson continued the work over the leg for a while until Isaacs gouged the eyes and tagged in Aldis.

Ricky Morton was tagged in soon thereafter as he hit a hurricanrana on Aldis. Morton was driven into the ring post on the floor by Isaacs and they got the heat on Morton for the next few minutes. Morton fired up and hit a few great punches before tagging out. Gibson tagged in and hit a suplex on Isaacs before throwing Aldis from the top rope.

Gibson went for a backslide on Isaacs, but Aldis broke it up. Isaacs hit the thumbs to the eyes of Gibson and rolled him up for the pinfall with the feet on the ropes. May Valentine came over and hugged May as Isaacs went on to argue with Sal. The crowd chanted Sal, as the show faded out into a hype video of Aldis and Scurll.

The NWA promised we would know the exact date and venue for the Crockett Cup next week.
This was a very solid episode of NWA Power. It wasn’t super exciting, and it didn’t have the promos of last week, but it was very good. They are slowly building their way to the PPV, and it’s excellent stuff.

NWA Power results: Tim Storm vs. Royce Isaacs

The show opened with an absolutely excellent recap of the Nick Aldis/Tim Storm feud.

David Marquez opened the show with Tim Storm wearing a Mama Storm shirt, and he talked about how excited he was to wrestle Aldis. Storm said that when he won, he would cross the bridge of a future title shot later, though he was a man of his word. He then apologized to his mother before saying that he was going to kick Aldis’ ass.

The NWA World Champion came out and said that he was all relaxed, and how Storm was intense. He entered the TV title tournament for fun, because there was no one left for him to beat. Aldis said the intense look on Storm’s face was starting to piss him off, and he should break the rules and embrace the hate. He mocked Storm and challenged him to attack, calling he and Ricky Morton “Randy the Ram” as they are a bunch of old guys that just can’t let go.

This was absolutely fantastic. These were wonderful promos from both men, and this feud feels very personal. It always felt special, but this fully turned it into a blood feud.

**********

Aron Stevens defeated Sal Rinauro

Stevens wanted to prove he was a shooter using various submission holds, but as Rinauro made the ropes, Stevens yanked on Rinauro’s shoulder. Stevens ran at Rinauro, and Rinauro hit an uppercut, dodged a dropkick, and went for a figure four leglock. Stevens drove Rinauro into the corner and then hit a “karate clothesline” as called by Stu Bennett – an interesting technique. Stevens locked on the Million Dollar Dream, which Bennett called the Mongrovian Clutch.

Stevens kept the hold on after the bell, and Trevor Murdoch came out to make the save. Murdoch said that he was angry that Stevens got involved in his match on the pay-per-view and he was angry that Stevens was taking advantage of young wrestlers. Murdoch said he didn’t want the National title, but wanted to fight Stevens. Stevens said that he would fight him if he put his spot on the TV title tournament on the line.

**********

Trevor Murdoch defeated Shooter Stevens

Murdoch hit a shoulderblock on Stevens which sent him to the floor. Stevens came back in and tried to kick Murdoch, but Murdoch blocked it, hit a clothesline, and then slammed Stevens twice. Murdoch locked on a weird Koji Clutch-type move, but Stevens made it to the ropes. Stevens attacked and hit a series of strikes and headbutts to Murdoch’s arm.

Stevens went for the Mongrovian Clutch, but Murdoch got to the ropes. Stevens switched to a sleeper, but Murdoch drove him into the top turnbuckle and then hit a full nelson slam. Murdoch then locked on a Indian Death Lock for the submission, so he stays in the tournament. This match was not very good at all, but Murdoch is over as a babyface.

— A brief video aired of the Pope with Eddie Kingston and Homicide. Pope said that he saw them both as future world tag team champions and Kingston as a future world champion. Homicide agreed as he was a former world champion himself in Ring of Honor, and believes that Kingston was a future world champion.

— A recap of Eli Drake’s drunk promo from last week aired. He came out a bit more sober this week. Drake talked about how Aldis seemed to want to keep him out of the title picture. He agreed with everything that Ricky Morton said, and that if Aldis wouldn’t fight him, he would. Drake said that he could team with anyone and wants a tag team partner to challenge for the tag titles. He trash talked Ken Anderson a bit.

— Colt Cabana came out and said that he was tired of Drake talking down to Anderson and that he was a good guy. Drake said, “I don’t care about Anderson, but I need a tag partner. Will you do it?” Cabana said, “No. Ken Anderson is my tag partner.” Drake went back to acting very heelish here. I have no idea who the babyface or heel is in this feud, and it’s a bit frustrating. The performances are good, but I’d like to know who to root for.

**********

A video aired of Allysin Kay saying that she was confused by what happened with Marti Belle and how she thought it was Melina and Thunder Rosa in her ear.

Tasha Steelz defeated Marti Belle

Belle and Steelz exchanged some basic wrestling, ending with Steelz slipping out of a head scissors. Belle hit a knee to the stomach and sent Steelz to the corner. Steelz floated over and then went for a roll up, but Belle hit a running knee for a two count. Belle hit a vertical suplex on Steelz, drove her into the corner. and started stomping her. Belle hit a knee to the chest and a clothesline after an Irish whip.

Belle knocked Steelz back into the corner and went for a running knee, but Steelz dodged, ducked a clothesline, and hit two axehandle smashes before hitting a running forearm. Steelz hit an uppercut, a kick to the stomach, and a running neckbreaker that was slightly botched. Steelz blocked a forearm and then hit a cutter for the pin that Belle fell too late for, but they still managed to pull it off.

This wasn’t a horrible match. Both women kept it very basic which was to their advantage. There were only two messed up spots, and it was more to do with Belle’s timing and when she took the move. Melina came into the ring afterward to berate Belle for losing.

**********

Two more names were drawn for the NWA TV Title Tournament: Ziggy Dice vs. Caleb Konley.

Tim Storm came out to wrestle Nick Aldis, but Aldis came out in his dress pants and said that he didn’t come out dressed to wrestle because he only entered the tournament for fun, and Storm took the fun out of it. The crowd chanted “coward” at Aldis as he announced that it wasn’t worth getting injured. Aldis called his group Strictly Business and said that in the best interest of his group, he wasn’t going to wrestle.

Storm said that Aldis was a coward, and until now, he backed everything up but has now shown his true colours. Aldis went up on the apron and then ducked out again, to boos from the crowd. Aldis said that an important part of the New Year is leaving the past behind, so he was leaving Storm in the past and Royce Isaacs would fight Storm instead.

NWA TV Title Tournament Qualifying Match: Tim Storm defeated Royce Isaacs

Storm went on the offensive right away and started beating Isaacs all around the ring. Storm hit a fallaway slam and didn’t take his eyes off Aldis. Storm hit a snapmare and then a boot to Isaacs’ head. Latimer distracted Storm, and Isaacs was able to hit a Northern Lights suplex and several strikes in the corner.

The fans chanted “Mama Storm!” to cheer Storm on, but Isaacs hit a slam and went to the middle rope, but missed a senton. Storm hit a clothesline, a back elbow, and a big boot on Isaacs. Storm hit a forearm and sent Isaacs to the corner before looking at Aldis and hitting an avalanche in the corner.

Isaacs managed to hit a cutter in the corner, but Storm was able to get his feet on the rope. Isaacs grabbed a full nelson and went to pick Storm up into a deadlift German suplex, but Storm countered with a series of elbows and then the Perfect Storm for the pinfall victory, advancing into the TV title tournament.

As Storm was getting Isaacs out of the ring, the Rock n’ Roll Express came out and when Aldis finally noticed them, they warned him to never turn his back on his opponent. Then, they simply walked by and led the crowd in chants of “rock and roll” as the show went off the air.

**********

All in all, this was a very good episode of NWA Power with some absolutely incredible work from Tim Storm and Nick Aldis. Aldis is now firmly established as a heel with his true colors being shown, and Storm is an even bigger babyface than before. You know these two are going to have to clash for the NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship one more time down the line, and I can’t wait for it. The work they have done is incredible.

NWA Power results: The Dawsons vs. Eli Drake & Tim Storm

The show opened with a recap of the story with Aldis and Kamille. Joe Galli opened the show informing us that he was having a third interview with Aldis this week, but that he would keep the interview focused on the next challenger for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.

Eddie Kingston came out and talked about how he was angry that the Dawsons got involved in his match, and that he was happy the NWA didn’t take away their title shot, but he wants to take out the Dawsons. He said that before he took the tag titles, he wanted the Dawsons and him and Homicide wanted them now. He said he would do it anywhere – the parking lot, their house, the ring.

Marti Belle defeated Crystal Rose

Belle opened the match with a slightly botched headscissors, and a big forearm in the corner. Belle knocked Rose down and ran at the corner, but Rose dodged and hit some stomps and forearms before kneeing Belle in the face. Belle made a come back with two clotheslines and a forearm. Belle hit a running forearm and hit a running hip to the face of Rose before hitting the Pedigree for the pinfall.

The Dawsons came out and talked about how a mystery tag team was facing them tonight.

A hype video aired for Thunder Rosa.

Aron Stevens came out and demanded that the fans listen to him and not make eye contact. He wanted to promote his new movie, Tropical Pirates. The fans chanted “Captain Morgan” as he asked to show a clip from the film. He then said, “When it comes to acting, I have more chops than Ric Flair.” This was fantastic.

Caleb Konley defeated Dan Parker

Parker trashed talked a lot in the early portion of the match, but Konley used some speed and athleticism to stay ahead at every chance. Parker managed to switch it around by pulling Konley off the middle rope and hit a Kitchen Sink before looking on an abdominal stretch. Konley escaped with a hip toss and then an enziguri before Caleb hit a spinning backfist, a slam, and a springboard moonsault for the pinfall. This was a great squash.

Tim Storm came out and thanked Nick Aldis for giving him a shot at the title. He admitted that he lost, fair and square. There was a guy that said, “We love you Tim!” and Tim thanked them and said his mom still loved him. Storm said he had to make decisions about his career. Eli Drake came out said his mom was probably more worried about her son giving up, and that one loss wasn’t enough to take him off the list, the same list that Ric Flair, Steamboat, and Harley Race is on.

Drake said that maybe the ten pounds of gold isn’t in his immediate future, but maybe there is two titles in their future, as Drake asked him to be his tag partner. Storm said he would think about it.

Jocephus asked to make a public apology to James Storm and asked the shake his hand. Colt Cabana came out and he imitated James Storm, took the hat that was being offered, and a beer too. Jocephus threw powder into Cabana’s face and started to attack in the ring. James Storm came up behind him and superkicked him when he turned around. Cabana was about to eat a superkick from Storm, but Ken Anderson pulled him out of the ring.

Nick Aldis and Kamille came out to discuss the next challenger for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Aldis said that he was going to wait and see who steps up, and if he needs to, he will go to another promotion and see there. Galli asked about Kamille talking for herself again, and Aldis told him off again, and said that she could speak whenever she wanted.

Galli asked what her motivation was for being the insurance policy for Aldis, and she refused to speak. Aldis said that she didn’t want to talk, and when she wanted to, Galli would be the first to know.

And ad aired with a Twitter account at the end saying “@QuestionTheNWA” It seems we have a mystery wrestler coming to the NWA.

Eli Drake came out. Tim Storm joined him, to the roar from the crowd.

The Dawsons defeated Eli Drake and Tim Storm

Dave Dawson started the match with Eli Drake. Drake hit the ropes hard and hit three big clotheslines and a spinning neckbreaker. Drake went for a suplex, but that didn’t work out and Zane Dawson tagged in. Drake hit a neckbreaker and tagged out to Storm. He hit a nice neckbreaker for a near fall. Storm tagged out to Drake and both men hit a double elbow to drop Dawson.

Zane charged at the corner, but Drake got his feet up and hit a bulldog. Dawson kicked out. Storm tagged in and hit a corner charge on Dawson. Storm and Drake manged quick tags as Storm hit some hard elbows. Zane locked on a bearhug on Storm and drove him back into the corner and tagged out to his brother. Dave Dawson went back to the bearhug and worked over Storm’s ribs.

Storm managed to escape and make the hot tag to Drake, and Drake ran wild, but he was soon driven into the corner ring post, and Storm was left alone. Storm tried his best to fight both men off, but the Dawsons hit a combo squash and powerslam for the pinfall.

The Dawsons continued beating on Storm after the match ended, but Kingston and Homicide made the save and drove them off. Nick Aldis came out to check on Storm with Drake, and the show closed. Excellent episode.

VIDEO: NWA Power episode three – ‘Twilight of Tim Storm’

Episode three of NWA Power premieres on the NWA’s YouTube channel and Facebook page at 6:05 p.m. Eastern time tonight:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9d8vGx0fYmY

The episode is titled “Twilight of Tim Storm” and will feature Storm returning to address his future in professional wrestling. NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis retained his title against Storm in the main event of the NWA Power premiere, and a stipulation of his loss is that Storm won’t be able to challenge for the title again.

Storm, Aldis, and Cody Rhodes are the only NWA World Champions of the Billy Corgan era. Aldis first won the title from Storm in December 2017.

Aldis accidentally clotheslined his manager Kamille while facing Storm on the first episode of Power. He accused Joe Galli of doing “clickbait” when Galli tried to ask about the situation after the match. Following their sit-down interview last week, the NWA is hyping that “after the last two weeks centering on the question of why won’t Kamille speak, Aldis has agreed to talk with Galli but only on the next challenger for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.”

NWA Tag Team Champions Thomas Latimer & Royce Isaacs vs. Eddie Kingston & Homicide ended in a no contest last week when Kingston & Homicide were attacked by The Dawsons. Kingston will address that tonight. Marti Belle and Caleb Konley will be in action on the episode, and Eli Drake, Colt Cabana, Jocephus, and James Storm will appear.

NWA Power results: Nick Aldis vs. Tim Storm

NWA’s new weekly series debuted on YouTube and Facebook at 6:05 p.m. Eastern time tonight. Taped at GPB Studios in Atlanta, the show is a throwback to the days of studio wrestling.

The opening of the show felt very old school. Commentators Joe Galli and Jim Cornette opened the episode before pitching it to David Marquez, who introduced NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis.

Aldis cut a promo saying he was the real Worlds Champion and said that being the champ for a year makes it hard to stay hungry. Aldis put over the other champions in the company. This was very good. Aldis came across as very likable here.

Aldis called out Tim Storm and said he was going to give it his all because professional wrestling is the only thing that’s put food on his family’s table.

The Dawsons (Dave & Zane Dawson) defeated Sal Rinauro & Billy Buck

This was a quick squash where The Dawsons ran wild and hit a combo sandwich with a forward splash. This felt exactly like an old studio show with two jobbers getting destroyed by a bigger tag team. My stream momentarily died here but came back in time for the finish.

An ad aired for Austin Idol’s wrestling school, and it looked like it was right out of the 80s.

Galli was at ringside to interview Eli Drake. Drake cut a great promo here talking about how the best want the gold in the NWA, and he said James Storm and Nick Aldis need to watch out for him as he’s coming for all the gold.

Eli Drake defeated Caleb Konley

Drake started with a shoulder block, but Konley used his speed to get a few moves up on Drake, including a very nice monkey flip. Konley went for a Stinger splash, but Drake dodged and hit a neckbreaker. Drake followed up with another one off the ropes.

Konley hit a hard chop, but Drake hit a drop toe hold into the middle rope, then a knee lift and a slingshot shoulder block for a near fall.

Drake ate an elbow and a kick from Konley. Konley blocked two clotheslines, ducked another, and hit a kick that dropped Drake. Drake threw Konley to the apron, and Konley hit a corkscrew splash for a two count.

Konley hit a double stomp as Drake ran into the corner and went to the middle rope. He went for a springboard moonsault, but Drake hit the Gravy Train for the pinfall victory.

A hype video aired for Aldis vs. Storm, as Storm said he would never challenge for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship again if he can’t beat Aldis.

Jocephus came out and said he wanted to fight Storm, but Cornette informed him that Tim Storm wasn’t going to be out there until later. Storm came out — but it was James Storm, who got a big reaction.

James Storm said he was the only Storm that Jocephus needed to worry about. James Storm said Jocephus pretends like he’s tough, but he should go back to his desk job.

Both men started brawling and an army of refs came out and pulled them apart as the crowd chanted “Let them fight!”

NWA Tag Team Champions The Wild Cards (Thomas Latimer & Royce Isaacs) defeated Danny White & Mimms in a non-title match

Latimer and Isaacs showed off their offense. Latimer sent White into a pop-up powerbomb from Isaacs, who sent White into a deadlift German suplex for the pinfall victory. This was fantastic.

They cut a promo afterwards, but Eddie Kingston entered and said “I’m not here to disrespect you Bram… I mean Tommy Boy…” and he proceeded to call him several names, saying that the titles looked great on them, but in his world, looks don’t mean anything.

Kingston said Latimer & Isaacs don’t speak for underdogs or stray dogs, or outlaws, and they pushed the table to the side as Homicide made his way out. It looks like Homicide and Kingston will be feuding with The Wild Cards.

Meanwhile, James Storm and Jocephus were brawling back out onto the stage. This was wild, and I loved it. When they came back from break, officials broke apart the brawl again, but Storm grabbed Jocephus and they brawled into the crowd. Jocephus sent Storm into the ring and Storm turned his back, begging for him to get into the ring.

James Storm defeated Jocephus

We had an impromptu match, and Storm nailed a superkick on Jocephus and pinned him in less than 10 seconds. Storm hit another superkick and then took Jocephus’ thumb and put it in his mouth.

A hype video aired for Aldis vs. Tim Storm. Tim Storm came out and cut a promo about how this was his last title. He cut a great promo on how he couldn’t tell his 94-year-old mom he was here because she would be afraid that he would get hurt.

Storm put over Aldis and said that he wanted just one more chance for that title, as nothing was more important in wrestling than holding the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Great stuff.

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis (w/ Kamille) defeated Tim Storm to retain his title

Storm sent Aldis back to the corner at the start of the match, overpowering him. Aldis pushed Storm back to the corner and hit a chop, but Storm chopped him in response and Aldis backed off. Aldis and Storm hit a series of strikes against each other in the corner until the ref pulled Storm off. Storm hit a big right hand, then Aldis rolled to the outside to collect himself.

Aldis reversed an Irish whip, sent Storm into the ring post, and then smashed his back into the apron. Aldis hit a body slam and an elbow. Aldis locked on a headlock on the mat. Storm tried to escape, but Aldis got a sleeper hold. Storm ducked down and sent Aldis face-first into the turnbuckle, then he started to make his comeback with a series of clotheslines.

Aldis picked a leg and went for the figure four, but Storm rolled him up for a two count. Storm got up, picked the leg of Aldis, and locked on the figure four. Aldis made the ropes, but just barely. Aldis went to the top rope, but Storm cut him off with a superplex. Aldis kicked out. Storm went to the top rope and hit a flying crossbody, but Aldis kicked out.

Storm went for a flipping senton, but Aldis moved out of the way and then hit a flying elbow. Aldis managed to lock on the Texas Cloverleaf in the middle of the ring. Aldis pulled him back to the middle of the ring.

Storm pushed himself up as the crowd chanted “Mama Storm!” He managed to make the ropes. Aldis went for a running powerslam, but Storm pushed Aldis into the referee and hit a low blow on Aldis!

Storm hit Perfect Storm, but Aldis just kicked out. Storm went back to the top rope and Aldis cut him off. Both men fell off the top rope onto the apron to the floor. Storm ducked a clothesline attempt and Aldis accidentally took out Kamille! Storm went for a vertical suplex, but Aldis countered into a cradle for the pinfall. Excellent match.

Storm will never get another shot at the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, and he rose in the ring with tears in his eyes.

Aldis cut a promo after the match saying he was proud to wrestle Storm. Galli asked Aldis if Kamille was okay, but Aldis told him off like a jerk, indicating that he’s still a heel. This was very fun.
