Triple threat SmackDown Tag Team title match set for WWE TLC

The Usos and The New Day will both challenge for Cesaro & Sheamus’ SmackDown Tag Team titles at TLC.

WWE announced tonight that Cesaro & Sheamus will defend their titles against The Usos and New Day in a triple threat match at TLC in San Jose, California on December 16. The Usos defeated Cesaro & Sheamus in a non-title match on this week’s SmackDown, and New Day defeated Cesaro, Sheamus & Big Show in a Thanksgiving Feast Fight on the November 20 episode.

Cesaro & Sheamus won the titles from New Day on SmackDown 1000 in October. Big Show aligned with Cesaro & Sheamus and helped them win the titles, but video of an angle aired on this week’s episode where Big Show punched Cesaro after he blamed Big Show for their loss in the Thanksgiving Feast Fight. Sheamus said they’d be better off without Big Show.

Here’s the updated card for TLC:

  • Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins defending against Dean Ambrose
  • WWE Champion Daniel Bryan defending against AJ Styles
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch defending against Charlotte Flair and Asuka in a triple threat tables, ladders, and chairs match
  • Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey defending against Nia Jax
  • If Braun Strowman is able to wrestle at TLC after undergoing elbow surgery this week: Strowman vs. Baron Corbin in a tables, ladders, and chairs match (Strowman will challenge for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble if he defeats Corbin. If Corbin wins, he’ll become the permanent general manager of Raw. Corbin will lose all of his GM power if Strowman wins)
  • Finn Balor vs. Drew McIntyre
  • Elias vs. Bobby Lashley
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus defending against The Usos and The New Day in a triple threat match
  • The finals of Mixed Match Challenge season two

Daniel Bryan, Thanksgiving Feast Fight set for WWE SmackDown

A segment and a match have been set for tomorrow’s edition of SmackDown.

Daniel Bryan, according to the commercial hyping tomorrow’s SmackDown, will explain his actions from last week. He beat AJ Styles for the WWE title on last week’s SmackDown after turning on Styles at the end of the match, low blowing him then pinning him with the knee strike. He’s said nothing since then, but did face Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in a losing effort.

A Thanksgiving Feast Fight has also been set for SmackDown. All three members of the New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods)  What exactly that entails is anyone’s guess. The two teams have been feuding off and on for a while, as Cesaro and Sheamus defeated the New Day for the tag team titles last month.

SmackDown will be the fourth and final consecutive night that WWE runs the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California

WWE SmackDown notes: Six-man tag match, Zelina Vega, more

The Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri is hosting SmackDown’s go-home show for Survivor Series tonight.

A six-man tag match has been announced for the episode. Cesaro, Sheamus & Big Show will face The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods). At Survivor Series, Cesaro & Sheamus will wrestle AOP in a champion vs. champion match and New Day will be part of SmackDown’s tag team division team.

Dave Meltzer reports that Zelina Vega has been cleared to return after being evaluated today. Vega missed WWE’s European tour due to taking a bad bump to the outside when she was eliminated from the battle royal at Evolution.

With Becky Lynch off the Survivor Series card due to injury, Meltzer notes that Ronda Rousey’s situation for the pay-per-view will be revealed on tonight’s SmackDown. She had been scheduled to face Lynch in a champion vs. champion match at the PPV.

WWE is also teasing the storyline of whether or not Charlotte Flair will become the captain of SmackDown’s Survivor Series women’s division team, along with whether or not the men’s team will be able to get on the same page.

Two more Raw vs. SD matches official for WWE Survivor Series

Two more Raw vs. SmackDown matches have been officially confirmed for Survivor Series.

With WWE resolving the Raw Tag Team title situation last night, AOP will face SmackDown Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus in a non-title champion vs. champion match at Survivor Series. AOP won the Raw Tag Team titles from Seth Rollins last night, with Rollins wrestling on his own due to the storyline where Dean Ambrose turned against him.

Brock Lesnar vs. AJ Styles, Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch, and Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura will be the other champion vs. champion matches at Survivor Series.

WWE has also added another traditional Survivor Series elimination match to the card for the pay-per-view. Five tag teams from Raw will face five tag teams from SmackDown. The Usos defeated The New Day to become the captains of the team. The Usos cut a promo after the match offering New Day a spot on their team, which New Day accepted.

Survivor Series is taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on November 18.

Two matches, Styles-Bryan segment set for WWE SmackDown

Two matches have been announced for this week’s episode of SmackDown.

On the night before Halloween, one member of The Bar (Big Show is also included on the graphic for the match with Cesaro & Sheamus) will face one member of The New Day in a Trick or Street Fight. The match comes in advance of New Day getting their rematch for Cesaro & Sheamus’ SmackDown Tag Team titles at Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this Friday.

Paige also announced via Twitter that Shinsuke Nakamura will defend the United States Championship against Tye Dillinger on this Tuesday’s SmackDown. Nakamura vs. Dillinger stems from a title match they had last month ending without a finish due to an angle where Randy Orton attacked Dillinger.

A confrontation between AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan is set for SmackDown, with WWE still currently advertising that Styles will defend his title against Bryan at Crown Jewel. SmackDown will also feature the final build to Friday’s World Cup tournament, where Orton vs. Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy vs. The Miz will be SmackDown’s first round matches.

SmackDown tag team title match set for WWE Crown Jewel

A SmackDown tag team title match has been added to next week’s Crown Jewel event.

The New Day will have a chance to recapture the titles as they will face The Bar in a rematch from last week’s SmackDown. The finish to that match had The Big Show come out and attack the New Day, which allowed The Bar to pick up the win and the titles.

It was then announced tonight on SmackDown that The New Day would get their rematch at Crown Jewel. A match between Kofi Kingston and Big Show followed. Show dominated, laying out Kingston with three chokeslams. He was going for a fourth when the rest of the New Day came in and attacked Big Show for the DQ. However, they were no match for the new trio, as they were quickly laid out.

Crown Jewel is scheduled to take place on November 2 at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Cesaro & Sheamus win tag titles on WWE SmackDown 1000

New tag team champions were crowned on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

The Bar won the titles tonight, defeating The New Day in an impromptu title match. After a long back and forth match Big Show (who just made his return to television last week) came out.  After surveying what was going on he made his presence felt by turning heel and chokeslamming Kofi Kingston through a nearby announce table. A distracted Big E then ate a Brogue Kick from Sheamus and was pinned, giving The Bar the titles.

Big Show, Cesaro and Sheamus all posed after the match with the titles. It appears going forward, they will be a trio.

The New Day held the SmackDown tag team titles for 56 days, defeating the Bludgeon Brothers back on August 21. This marks the first time Sheamus and Cesaro have won these specific titles; under the Raw brand, they won the Raw tag team titles four times.

SmackDown tag title match listed for WWE Hell in a Cell pre-show

WWE has revealed that Sunday’s SmackDown Tag Team title match will be airing on the Hell in a Cell pre-show.

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day vs. Rusev & Aiden English is listed for the pay-per-view’s pre-show on WWE.com. The match was announced this Tuesday after Rusev & English defeated Cesaro & Sheamus in the finals of SmackDown’s tournament to decide New Day’s challengers for the PPV.

Rusev & English also defeated SAnitY (Eric Young & Killian Dain) and The Usos in a triple threat match in the first round of the tournament.

The AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas is hosting Hell in a Cell on Sunday. The pre-show will begin at 6 p.m. Eastern time before the main card starts at 7 p.m. Eastern. Here’s the updated card for the PPV:

  • Universal Champion Roman Reigns defending against Braun Strowman in a Hell in a Cell match (Mick Foley will be the special guest referee)
  • WWE Champion AJ Styles defending against Samoa Joe
  • Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey defending against Alexa Bliss
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defending against Becky Lynch
  • Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy in a Hell in a Cell match
  • Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse
  • Raw Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre defending against Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day defending against Rusev & Aiden English (pre-show)

Two more matches added to WWE Super Show-Down card

Two more matches have been added to the card for WWE Super Show-Down.

WWE has announced Asuka & Naomi vs. Peyton Royce & Billie Kay for Super Show-Down, along with The New Day defending their Tag Team titles against Cesaro & Sheamus. The event is taking place in Melbourne, Australia on October 6 and will air live on the WWE Network.

Asuka made the save for Naomi in an angle on this week’s SmackDown, helping her even the odds against Royce & Kay. Naomi had defeated Royce before being attacked by them.

Super Show-Down will be a homecoming for Royce & Kay as they wrestle in their home country. Buddy Murphy will also be challenging for the Cruiserweight Championship in his hometown of Melbourne.

New Day vs. Cesaro & Sheamus could also be the SmackDown Tag Team Championship match at Hell in a Cell on September 16, with Cesaro & Sheamus facing Rusev & Aiden English in a number one contender’s match next Tuesday.

The updated lineup for Super Show-Down is listed below:

  • The Undertaker vs. Triple H (billed as the final time they’ll ever face each other)
  • The Shield (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose) vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre
  • WWE Champion AJ Styles defending against Samoa Joe
  • Ronda Rousey, Nikki Bella & Brie Bella vs. The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan)
  • Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz (winner gets a future shot at the WWE Championship)
  • John Cena & Bobby Lashley vs. Kevin Owens & Elias
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day defending against Cesaro & Sheamus
  • Asuka & Naomi vs. Peyton Royce & Billie Kay
  • WWE Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander defending against Buddy Murphy

The Bar advance in SmackDown tag tournament, next triple threat set

The Bar (Cesaro & Sheamus) will face either Rusev & Aiden English, The Usos, or SAnitY to decide The New Day’s SmackDown Tag Team title challengers for Hell in a Cell.

The first of two triple threat matches in SmackDown’s tag team tournament took place tonight, with Cesaro & Sheamus defeating Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson and The Colons to advance. Cesaro tagged in and stole the pin from The Colons, then he and Sheamus confronted The New Day (who were on commentary for the match).

A backstage segment aired where Paige told Rusev & English they’d be in the tournament, with the story being that English had approached her to state their case. She announced that they’d be facing The Usos and SAnitY in a triple threat match next Tuesday. The winning team will advance to a number one contender’s match that’s being held on SmackDown’s Hell in a Cell go-home show to determine who will challenge New Day at the pay-per-view.

Hell in a Cell is taking place at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas on September 16.

WWE announces matches to decide New Day’s next challengers

WWE has announced a mini-tournament to determine The New Day’s SmackDown Tag Team title challengers for next month’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

In a video that was posted by Paige today, it was revealed that two tag team triple threat matches will take place to decide which teams will advance to a number one contender’s match. Whoever wins that match will challenge for New Day’s SmackDown Tag Team titles at Hell in a Cell in San Antonio, Texas on September 16.

The first triple threat will be held on Tuesday’s SmackDown. It will be Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Cesaro & Sheamus vs. The Colons (Epico & Primo). The participants for the other triple threat match haven’t been announced, though The Usos and SAnitY would figure to be two of the teams in it.

This will be Epico’s return after undergoing shoulder surgery in January.

Gallows & Anderson vs. Cesaro & Sheamus had originally been announced for Tuesday’s SmackDown. Charlotte Flair defending her Women’s Championship against Carmella is also set for the episode.

After Erick Rowan suffered a torn right biceps at SummerSlam, New Day won the SmackDown Tag Team titles in a no disqualification match against The Bludgeon Brothers last Tuesday.

WWE SmackDown video highlights: New Day win Tag Team titles

The New Day became five-time WWE Tag Team Champions in the main event of this week’s SmackDown.

After Erick Rowan suffered a torn biceps at SummerSlam, Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston defeated Harper & Rowan in a no disqualification match to win the SmackDown Tag Team titles last night. The Bludgeon Brothers had retained by DQ at SummerSlam when Rowan used a mallet to attack Woods and Big E.

Also on SmackDown, Becky Lynch confirmed her heel turn in a promo before brawling with Charlotte Flair, Samoa Joe attacked AJ Styles during an interview, and Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse was announced for next month’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

Tag title match, Orton vs. Hardy announced for WWE SmackDown

Two matches have been announced for the post-SummerSlam edition of SmackDown.

The Bludgeon Brothers defending their SmackDown Tag Team titles against The New Day in a no disqualification match is set for tomorrow’s show, along with Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy. The Tag Team title match was announced despite PWInsider reporting tonight that Erick Rowan suffered an arm injury at SummerSlam.

New Day defeated The Bludgeon Brothers by DQ on Sunday when Rowan attacked Xavier Woods and Big E with a mallet.

Orton and Hardy have been feuding since Orton returned at Extreme Rules last month, with Orton attacking Hardy multiple times since then. Orton came out after Hardy lost to United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura at SummerSlam but didn’t end up attacking him this time. In a post-show video, Orton explained the storyline by saying he would deal with Hardy on his own terms.

An “exclusive interview” with AJ Styles, who got disqualified in his WWE Championship defense against Samoa Joe at SummerSlam when Joe taunted his family, is set for tomorrow. WWE is also hyping that Becky Lynch will explain why she attacked Charlotte Flair after Charlotte defeated Lynch and Carmella to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

New Day vs. SAnitY, English vs. Almas announced for SmackDown

Two matches and a few segments have been announced for tonight’s SmackDown.

The New Day vs. SAnitY in a six-man tag match and Aiden English vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas are set for the show. The story for English vs. Almas is that English is looking to make it up to Rusev and Lana after accidentally costing them matches against Almas and Zelina Vega over the last few weeks.

New Day are set to challenge for The Bludgeon Brothers’ Tag Team titles at SummerSlam on Sunday. They defeated SAnitY in the first round of SmackDown’s tag team tournament and beat Cesaro & Sheamus in the finals to earn the title shot. Prior to the tournament, SAnitY won a six-man tag team tables match against New Day at Extreme Rules.

WWE is hyping that AJ Styles has more to say to Samoa Joe after responding to him last Tuesday. Two weeks ago, Joe insulted Styles and called him a bad father and husband. Styles will defend his WWE Championship against Joe at SummerSlam.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch will take part in a face-to-face segment ahead of their triple threat title match at SummerSlam, and WWE is teasing that Paige will give Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville an “opportunity” tonight after they complained on Twitter about Charlotte and Lynch getting preferential treatment.

WWE SmackDown video highlights: Tag tournament finals

The Bludgeon Brothers’ challengers for SummerSlam were decided on this week’s episode of SmackDown.

The New Day defeated Cesaro & Sheamus in a 20-plus minute main event on SmackDown last night to become Harper & Rowan’s next challengers. Harper & Rowan were also in action on the show, defeating an enhacement team in what was their first match on television since retaining against Daniel Bryan & Kane at Extreme Rules.

The build to SummerSlam continued elsewhere on the show, with AJ Styles responding to Samoa Joe insulting him and saying last week that Styles puts being WWE Champion ahead of his family. Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch teamed up against Peyton Royce & Billie Kay, and Daniel Bryan tried to attack The Miz but was hit with a vase.
