He announced that he takes on Daniel Bryan at Super Show-Down, although it was already announced. He promised to defeat Bryan and move onto capturing the WWE Championship.

Miz noted that he had to pull some strings to get his guest on the show. He introduced the special mystery guest his wife Maryse. Miz said it was an honor to have her as his guest. Maryse said that beating Brie Bella was the easiest thing she’s ever done. She feels Bella’s heart wasn’t in the match and Miz said Bella’s heart isn’t in her relationship either. They added Bella only married Bryan to stay relevant and Bryan just wants her to fight his battles.

Maryse announced that tonight is her last night on SmackDown for a little while. She’s going to return home to be the best mother in the world. Miz became enraged when fans began booing Maryse. Miz called out Bryan and promised to beat him down. Bryan came out and attacked Miz for insulting his wife.

English was upset and started insulting Lana and Rusev to a random backstage worker. English blamed Lana for all of Rusev’s problems. English turned around and Lana was still there. She left to tell Rusev but English ran after her.

The announcers started talking about Hell in a Cell but Tom Philips said there was a commotion in the production truck.

In the truck, Randy Orton forced one of the workers to bring up the footage of Orton sticking a screwdriver in Jeff Hardy’s ear piercing at Hell in a Cell. Orton said what he did to Hardy will pale in comparison to what he does to his next victim.

Backstage, WWE Champion AJ Styles discussed the controversial finish from the pay-per-view. He felt that lady luck was shining down on him and the referee’s decision is final. He said maybe it was karma. He stopped himself from talking about Joe and focused his attention on Andrade “Cien” Almas.

Rusev fired up and made a comeback. He rocked Nakamura with a kick to the head for a close near fall. They fought on the apron and Nakamura nailed Rusev with a knee. Nakamura set up for the Kinshasa but Rusev nailed him with a Machka kick.

English jumped on the apron and yelled, “Rusev Crush.” This distracted Rusev and Nakamura rolled him up to retain the title.

After the match, English attacked Rusev with the microphone. English then sang “Happy Rusev Day” and dropped the mic on Rusev.

WWE Champion AJ Styles defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas (w/Zelina Vega) in a non-title match

Kay gained the advantage when Royce distracted Asuka. Kay rocked Asuka with a big boot for a near fall. Asuka applied the Asuka Lock out of nowhere for the win.

General Manager Paige introduced new SmackDown Woman’s Champion Becky Lynch for her championship celebration. Fans broke into a loud “You Deserve It” chant. Lynch said she’s not going to be left off the magazine covers or talk shows anymore. She noted that she doesn’t need balloons and a big celebration. Lynch called out Charlotte Flair.

Flair came down to the ring. She promised Paige that she wasn’t there to fight. Paige left the ring. Flair said Lynch was the better woman and came out to congratulate Lynch for winning. Flair said that Lynch threw away more than a friendship. Flair promised to win the title back at Super Show-Down. Flair noted it took Lynch two years to get the title back but she could lose it in one night.

Lynch said she stopped listening after Flair said she was the better woman. Lynch will allow Flair to raise her arm now. She changed her mind and demanded she put the belt around her waist. The crowd cheered that and chanted “Becky.”

Lynch just wants Flair to call her Queen. As Flair walked away, Lynch called her a “bitch.” Flair attacked Lynch and they brawled around ringside. Lynch took over and locked on the Dis-arm-her. The fans popped huge for Lynch and broke into another loud “Becky” chant.

Two more matches official for WWE SmackDown

Two more matches are official for Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown.

Ahead of their mixed tag match at Hell in a Cell, Brie Bella will be facing Maryse in the main event of this week’s go-home show. Brie is set to team with Daniel Bryan against Maryse & The Miz at Hell in a Cell on September 16.

Maryse hasn’t wrestled since WrestleMania 33, where she teamed with Miz against Nikki Bella & John Cena.

R-Truth vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas has also been announced for Tuesday’s SmackDown. Truth (who was accompanied by Carmella) defeated Miz in last week’s main event due to a distraction from Bryan. Bryan and Brie attacked Miz and Maryse after the match, Almas and Zelina Vega interrupted them, and Bryan and Brie ended the show by putting Almas and Vega in the Yes Lock.

Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Rusev & Aiden English for a shot at The New Day’s Tag Team titles at Hell in a Cell and SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Sonya Deville in a non-title match have also been confirmed for Tuesday’s go-home show.

New Day vs. SAnitY, English vs. Almas announced for SmackDown

Two matches and a few segments have been announced for tonight’s SmackDown.

The New Day vs. SAnitY in a six-man tag match and Aiden English vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas are set for the show. The story for English vs. Almas is that English is looking to make it up to Rusev and Lana after accidentally costing them matches against Almas and Zelina Vega over the last few weeks.

New Day are set to challenge for The Bludgeon Brothers’ Tag Team titles at SummerSlam on Sunday. They defeated SAnitY in the first round of SmackDown’s tag team tournament and beat Cesaro & Sheamus in the finals to earn the title shot. Prior to the tournament, SAnitY won a six-man tag team tables match against New Day at Extreme Rules.

WWE is hyping that AJ Styles has more to say to Samoa Joe after responding to him last Tuesday. Two weeks ago, Joe insulted Styles and called him a bad father and husband. Styles will defend his WWE Championship against Joe at SummerSlam.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch will take part in a face-to-face segment ahead of their triple threat title match at SummerSlam, and WWE is teasing that Paige will give Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville an “opportunity” tonight after they complained on Twitter about Charlotte and Lynch getting preferential treatment.

Rusev & Lana vs. Almas & Vega set for WWE SummerSlam pre-show

The card for SummerSlam is now up to 12 announced matches.

WWE revealed this morning that Rusev & Lana will be teaming against Andrade “Cien” Almas & Zelina Vega in a mixed tag match on the SummerSlam pre-show. It’s the first match to be officially confirmed for the pre-show.

Vega has defeated Lana twice on SmackDown over the last two weeks. The story of their matches has been that, amid dissension between Rusev, Aiden English, and Lana, English has come out to try and help Lana, but it’s backfired and led to her losing.

Rusev wasn’t with Lana at ringside on the July 31 episode. Almas got on the apron to cause a distraction, English ran out to stop him, and Vega rolled up Lana for the pin.

This week, Rusev said they forgave English but suggested that he shouldn’t come out for Lana’s match. He ran down while Rusev and Almas were fighting, with English accidentally tackling Almas into Lana while she was climbing the top rope. Vega hit a double knee strike in the corner for the win.

Almas also defeated Rusev last month after English trying to break up a fight between Lana and Vega backfired.

AJ Styles vs. Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas set for tonight’s WWE SmackDown

AJ Styles and Andrade “Cien” Almas will be facing off in their first-ever singles match tonight.

WWE posted a video today where Styles was doing an interview and said he’s heard Paige has already decided on who will challenge for his WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Zelina Vega interrupted him and said that Almas should be the one to challenge him at the pay-per-view. Vega said Almas likes to do his talking in the ring, and Styles challenged him to a match tonight. Vega then accepted.

WWE had Paige tweet out that Styles vs. Almas will be the first match on tonight’s SmackDown: “And the #WWE Universe won’t have to wait very long BECAUSE… @AJStylesOrg vs. @AndradeCienWWE will be the FIRST match of #SDLive. I’m ready to see this one. #TheFuturevsThePhenomenal

Styles vs. Almas will presumably be a non-title match.

New United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura defending against Jeff Hardy is the only other thing that’s been announced for tonight’s show. Nakamura gave Hardy a pre-match low blow and then quickly defeated him with the Kinshasa at Extreme Rules on Sunday to win the title. Randy Orton then returned, had a staredown with Nakamura, and kicked Hardy for a low blow.

Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas vs. Sin Cara set for WWE Extreme Rules kickoff

If you wanted another match for Extreme Rules, you got one.

Andrade Cien Almas will once again battle Sin Cara, this time as part of the preshow kickoff set to air before Extreme Rules. WWE confirmed the news this afternoon on their Twitter account.  This would be a rematch from this past Tuesday’s match on SmackDown where Almas defeated Sin Cara pretty decisively after hitting the double knees in the corner.

This brings the match total for this Sunday’s Extreme Rules event to 12, including two kickoff matches. Here is the full card:

Miz TV with Bryan & Kane, two matches added to WWE SmackDown

A Miz TV segment and two more matches have been added to the lineup for SmackDown’s go-home show for Extreme Rules.

Ahead of challenging for The Bludgeon Brothers’ Tag Team titles on Sunday, Daniel Bryan & Kane will appear on Miz TV to open tonight’s episode. Andrade “Cien” Almas will also face Sin Cara, and Samoa Joe will wrestle Tye Dillinger.

Almas vs. Sin Cara was originally scheduled to take place on the June 12 edition of SmackDown, but it was canceled when WWE explained that, due to Sin Cara suffering a storyline shoulder injury when Almas attacked him the previous week, Sin Cara wasn’t able to compete. Neither has wrestled on SmackDown since, and Almas has only wrestled twice on the show since being called up from NXT. Both of those matches were against enhancement wrestlers.

Sin Cara has been Almas’ regular opponent on house shows, and Almas defeated him in a dark match prior to last week’s episode.

Joe vs. Dillinger was set up in a post-show video last week. R-Truth told Joe that he didn’t stand a chance against Dillinger, Joe asked Dillinger if that was true, and Dillinger challenged him to the match.

WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a non-title match is also advertised for tonight’s SmackDown, along with Asuka vs. James Ellsworth in a lumberjack match. The show is being held at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Lawler to appear on SmackDown, Almas vs. Sin Cara removed

A segment has been added and another has been removed from tonight’s SmackDown.

With the show taking place in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, Jerry Lawler will be making an appearance and interviewing AJ Styles ahead of Money in the Bank. The segment will be part of the final build to Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura’s last man standing match for the WWE Championship at the pay-per-view.

Nakamura will be facing United States Champion Jeff Hardy in a non-title match tonight, with Daniel Bryan vs. Shelton Benjamin and a women’s Money in the Bank summit also set.

A match between Andrade “Cien” Almas and Sin Cara was originally scheduled but has been canceled as part of an apparent storyline where Sin Cara’s shoulder was “injured” when Almas attacked him backstage last Tuesday. Sin Cara posted a promo on Twitter where he called Almas a coward and said he’s coming for him.

Almas and Sin Cara worked against each other on this past weekend’s house shows.

Almas vs. Sin Cara, women’s MITB summit set for WWE SmackDown

Another match and segment are set for WWE’s final week of television before Money in the Bank.

On last night’s SmackDown, it was announced that Andrade “Cien” Almas will face Sin Cara next Tuesday. This will be Almas’ third match on TV since being called up and, with the other two having been squashes against enhancement wrestlers, it will be his first against a member of the WWE roster.

Sin Cara has also been Almas’ house show opponent since he debuted.

The storyline for Almas and Sin Cara’s feud is that they used to be friends before Almas’ association with Zelina Vega changed who he is. Almas attacked him during an interview last night after Vega interrupted Sin Cara and informed him of next week’s match.

There will also be a “women’s Money in the Bank summit” next Tuesday, which will be hosted by Paige and will feature Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Naomi, and Lana. It will be the final build to the women’s ladder match and comes after Lynch submitted Charlotte and Naomi & Jimmy Uso defeated Lana & Aiden English last night.

Raw’s go-home show on Monday has Braun Strowman vs. Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens vs. Bobby Roode, Sasha Banks vs. Ember Moon vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Natalya, and a face-to-face segment with Ronda Rousey and Nia Jax advertised.

MITB qualifier, Almas’ debut set for next week’s WWE SmackDown

A debut and another Money in the Bank qualifying match is set for next week’s SmackDown.

Former NXT champion Andrade Cien Almas, along with his business manager Zelina Vega, will make their debut on the program next week. They were announced as coming in during the Superstar Shakeup a few weeks ago on SmackDown and had been promoting themselves with selfie videos since. Almas hasn’t competed on WWE television since losing the title to Allister Black at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans last month.

Also set for next week is a match between The New Day and The Bar, with the winner of the match choosing one member of their team to be a part of the Money in the Bank match. Both teams have been feuding since The Bar arrived on SmackDown, with Cesaro scoring a win over Xavier Woods tonight after the New Day pranked The Bar backstage by putting pancakes in their gear bags.

SmackDown will take place at the O2 Arena in London, England.

NXT Johnstown, PA, live results: Tag team main event

– No Way Jose defeated Chad Lail

Jose had the crowd going with his conga line. This was a decent opener with Jose winning with his pop-up punch.

– They aired a pre-tape with Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega. She mentioned that tonight is his last chance to get his hands on Aleister Black. They ran into Velveteen Dream, who wanted Almas to wear a tank top he had just made. Vega told him there was no way.

– Candice LeRae defeated Bianca Belair

The match was okay but had great heat. LeRae hit a Lionsault to win.

– A video aired with EC3 issuing an open challenge; saying he could beat anyone from Sidney Crosby to Paul Newman (this was the arena where they filmed Slap Shot).

– EC3 defeated Kassius Ohno

This was a good match thanks to Ohno’s selling and strikes. EC3 won with the One Percenter.

– The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) defeated The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake & Steve Cutler)

These two teams had their working shoes on. Lots of great false finishes led into Montez Ford hitting a top rope splash onto Blake for the win. Great match that had the crowd going.

– Kairi Sane & Nikki Cross defeated Lacey Evans & NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler

They still billed Cross as representing SAnitY, even though she’s staying in NXT while the rest of the group comes up to the main roster. This match was pretty good but had a botched ending. Sane hit a flying clothesline on Evans. She looked like she was going to kick out but didn’t in time, so the ref counted three and called for the bell.

Baszler didn’t do much other than a couple minutes of ground work. Cross showed Sane how to be crazy for a few moments after the match.

– Tommaso Ciampa defeated Oney Lorcan

Once again (like every night on this tour), Ciampa came out to Johnny Gargano’s theme music, calling all of the fans puppets and himself the puppet master. He said Gargano wasn’t cleared to wrestle, was banned from the arena, and challenged anyone to face him.

Another really great match built off of false finishes. The crowd didn’t seem to know Lorcan when he came out, but he won them over after kicking out of everything (including Project Ciampa and a top rope Air Raid Crash). Lorcan also had the crowd going with a single-leg Boston crab that was turned into a full Walls of Jericho before Ciampa finally made the ropes. Ciampa won with a running knee after Lorcan kicked out of the Air Raid Crash.

After the match, Ciampa continued attacking Lorcan until Gargano ran through the crowd to a monstrous pop. They had a pull-apart brawl that ended with Gargano standing victorious in the ring with his wife and The Street Profits.

– NXT Champion Aleister Black & Ricochet defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas (w/ Zelina Vega) & Velveteen Dream

Before the match, Dream again asked Almas to wear the tank top he made for him. Vega constantly said no.

Great match but a bit of a letdown considering who was involved (it also had difficulty following the previous match/segment). The crowd went wild for Ricochet’s athleticism and also when he made the hot tag to Black. Ricochet hit a Shooting Star Press on Almas before Black hit Black Mass for the pin.

After the match, there was a quick staredown and handshake between Ricochet and Black which the crowd just ate up.
