  • WWE ID wrestler Sean Legacy cut a promo after defeating Ashante Adonis and Je’Von Evans in a triple threat match on NXT:
    • Eight long years, eight long years in the making. A couple months ago, I became one of the first-ever WWE ID prospects. I am killing it on the indies, I am killing it in Evolve. And two weeks ago, I came up short in the battle royal, but I was final five. But that doesn’t matter. What does matter is today, right now in the triple threat. Je’Von Evans, future NXT Champion. That boy is bouncy. And Ashante, somebody that has been here for a while, somebody that’s kicking the door down and getting his opportunity. But guess what? Guess who got the job done? I did. And now it is my turn to start my legacy. Everybody will remember the name Sean Legacy. I started as a nobody and, man, I just now became a somebody. And that is that Sean Legacy will always be super.
  • Bully Ray interviewed WWE LFG runner-up Zena Sterling on Busted Open Radio After Dark.
  • Apollo Crews noted that he’s doing well in his recovery after undergoing surgery for a torn pec this February:

  • Cultaholic reports that WWE is in talks to sign Shaheen, a wrestler from the United Arab Emirates whose experience includes training at the NJPW LA Dojo.
  • On Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Lyra Valkyria said she didn’t find out she was winning the Women’s Intercontinental title until the day of the tournament final:
    • I never was a part of that conversation. I just find out on Mondays what I’m doing. I found out the day of. I was never a part of the decision or the conversation. I just showed up to work.
  • Valkyria said being told she would become champion was an amazing feeling, but it didn’t fully set in until the next day:
    • Amazing. I couldn’t believe it. I really couldn’t believe it. But things don’t hit me when I think they’re going to. I always say that it never hits me in the moment. It hit me when I was driving home and taking my bags out of the car on the Tuesday. The title is just sitting in my bag, the zip opens, and I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, that’s the Intercontinental Championship. I won that. I brought that home.’ That’s when it hits me.

    • Before, there were so many times when I was getting four-minute matches – or we’d get to the building and something would change. You’d spend weeks planning for it all to change at the last minute. Now, it’s not changing. I get to go out and do it. It’s mine to claim, it’s mine to carry, it’s mine to do. Matt Riddle to defend NJPW World TV title at MLW War Chamber

At MLW War Chamber, Matt Riddle will put his NJPW World Television Championship up for grabs.

Riddle vs. Kosei Fujita for the NJPW World TV title is now set for MLW War Chamber in St. Petersburg, Florida on Friday, March 29. The 21-year-old Fujita, an NJPW wrestler, is making his MLW debut in the match.

It was previously announced that Riddle would face Timothy Thatcher in a non-title match at War Chamber. That match will still be happening in St. Petersburg on March 29, but it will instead be part of the MLW television taping portion of the War Chamber event. Riddle vs. Fujita will be airing live on the War Chamber broadcast on TrillerTV+.

In storyline, Riddle decided to have two matches at War Chamber as part of his quest to earn an MLW World Heavyweight Championship shot. Satoshi Kojima currently holds that title.

Riddle won the NJPW World TV title from Hiroshi Tanahashi this February. His first title defense was in MLW against Bad Dude Tito.

Here’s the updated War Chamber card:

Matt Riddle vs. Timothy Thatcher booked for MLW War Chamber

Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher are renewing their rivalry in MLW.

It was announced today that Riddle vs. Thatcher will take place at MLW War Chamber 2024 on Friday, March 29. The show is being held at The Coliseum in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Riddle and Thatcher have been opponents dating back to their time in EVOLVE. Their rivalry later carried over into NXT, including Thatcher defeating Riddle in the first-ever Fight Pit match in 2020.

After being released by WWE in September 2023, Riddle returned to MLW this January. He was previously part of MLW’s roster in 2017-2018.

“With his sights set on cleaning out the division and capturing the coveted MLW World Heavyweight Title, Riddle is prepared to confront any obstacle in his path, and Timothy Thatcher is no exception,” MLW wrote.

This is Thatcher’s first match for MLW since July 2023.

War Chamber 2024 will air live on TrillerTV+ on March 29. Here’s what’s been announced for the broadcast so far:

  • War Chamber match: Team MLW (MLW World Heavyweight Champion Satoshi Kojima, Okumura, Matthew Justice & 1 Called Manders) vs. World Titan Federation (Tom Lawlor, Davey Boy Smith Jr., Richard Holliday & Josh Bishop)

MLW announces teams for War Chamber 2024

The teams for MLW War Chamber 2024 have been announced.

The World Titan Federation’s Tom Lawlor, Davey Boy Smith Jr., Richard Holliday, and Josh Bishop will face Satoshi Kojima, Matthew Justice, 1 Called Manders, and Okumura in the two-ring War Games-styled match.

The event takes place Friday, March 29 at The Coliseum in St. Petersburg, Florida. It will air live on Triller+ for subscribers.

From MLW.com:

In recent months, the World Titan Federation, spearheaded by the disgraced ex-MLW VP of Operations, Saint Laurent, has engaged in a relentless campaign against MLW. Following Saint Laurent’s departure amidst controversy and corruption allegations, he formed the World Titan Federation, aiming to dismantle MLW by luring away its fighters, disrupting MLW’s deals, and undermining the organization’s integrity.

Kojima won the MLW World Championship at the February 3 tapings but also suffered an MCL injury that has kept him out of action since. He missed several NJPW dates last month as a result.

On Tuesday, MLW posted a clip of WTF members attacking Kojima at a media event in New York.

https://twitter.com/MLW/status/1764970456736563611

The promotion later stated that Kojima’s MCL injury was further aggravated by the attack. However, the Bread Club leader insists he will not miss any matches in MLW.

MLW wrote:

KOJIMA INJURED DURING WTF AMBUSH The MLW-WTF saga escalated further at an MLW Media Event in New York where Satoshi Kojima was to be presented with his new MLW World Heavyweight Championship belt, a belt that took six months to make. The World Titan Federation crashed the event and stole the belt – but that wasn’t all they did. Attacking Kojima in an ambush, the “Superstars®” clubbed Kojima’s injured knee repeatedly. Following a brief stay in the hospital, Kojima is now receiving daily treatment for his aggravated MCL injury under the supervision of league physician Dr. Nelson Sweglar. Kojima’s medical condition is listed as day-to-day. Kojima insists he will not miss any fights in MLW, and his resolve is strengthened to represent MLW in its war against the World Titan Federation.

MLW returning to Florida for War Chamber 2024

MLW is making its return to Florida for War Chamber 2024.

It was announced today that MLW War Chamber 2024 will take place from the Coliseum in St. Petersburg, Florida on Friday, March 29. The show will stream live on TrillerTV+.

Aside from closed set shows during the pandemic era, this will be MLW’s first event in Florida since 2019. Tickets are going on sale this Friday (January 5) at 10 a.m. Eastern time.

MLW has yet to announce the participants for this year’s War Chamber match. It’s a WarGames-style match where the top of the cage is surrounded by barbed wire. The match has the following rules:

  • A coin toss determines which team enters first.
  • It’s one-on-one for five minutes in stage one.
  • The winner of the coin toss comes out for two-on-one.
  • Alternating teams have wrestlers enter every two minutes.
  • Once all of the wrestlers are in the War Chamber, the match can be won by submission, surrender, or pinfall.

In last year’s War Chamber match, The Calling (Rickey Shane Page, Akira, Delirious & Dr. Cornwallis) defeated Alex Hammerstone & Second Gear Crew (Mance Warner, 1 Called Manders & Matthew Justice).

MLW’s next event is Kings of Colosseum from Philadelphia this Saturday.

MLW Underground results: War Chamber

On this week’s MLW Underground, we saw the heavily built-up War Chamber match between the newest heel faction The Calling going against MLW Champion Alex Hammerstone and The Second Gear Crew.

This was taped in New York City earlier this month with Joe Dombrowski and Matt Striker on the call.

We saw Davey Boy Smith Jr. picking his number for Battle Riot V out of the traditional tumbler as we were reminded this year’s match will be on next week’s show.

The upcoming Opera Cup tournament was also hyped.

The Calling (AKIRA, Delirious, Rickey Shane Page, Dr. Cornwallis) (w/ Raven) defeated MLW Champion Alex Hammerstone & The Second Gear Crew (Mance Warner, 1 Called Manders, Matthew Justice) in a War Chamber match

Delirious and Cornwallis were surprise entrants for Raven’s team.

Page and Manders were first in for their teams and it didn’t take Page long to use start using weapons as he took a wrench to Manders’ mouth. Manders came back with a spinebuster and gave as good as he got with the wrench to Page’s mouth.

AKIRA entered next, German suplexed Manders, and gave him some Kawada kicks to give his team the advantage. Justice was quickly out to even the odds and smash The Calling with a chair in the corners. Manders then picked up his partner and launched him into his opponents.

Delirious was the first surprise entrant for The Calling and hit two Panic Attack running knees as The Calling took control and slowed the match down again.

Hammerstone was in next to give each member of The Calling a German suplex and a power bomb to Delirious for good measure.

The huge masked man Cornwallis was out next to complete The Calling. He hit an impressive spinning heel kick to Hammerstone before his team began using weapons to get the advantage. Page took a fork to Justice’s head, Cornwallis used the wrench on Hammerstone, and AKIRA was using the chair.

Hammerstone seemed to get legitimately injured when AKIRA and Cornwallis each grabbed a leg and pulled them apart. From that point, Hammerstone was visibly in pain on the mat and crawled to the cage door to be helped to the back. This could have been the storyline reason his babyface team lost the match or even the reason they lost if the decision was switched. They even played it up at the end of the episode when MLW founder Court Bauer began talking about the future of the title. I would have maybe expected a more vicious kayfabe injury than a groin pull, so my guess it that it was legit.

Warner came out last and made the save for his team, taking out his opponents one at a time. Cornwallis was taken out by the cage door, Delirious got his bare foot bitten, and Page got chopped in the corner.

The Second Gear Crew started throwing chairs around, dislodging the barbed wire from the top of the cage. Manders and Justice tried a top rope Doomsday Device with a steel chair on AKIRA for the first pinfall attempt.

There was a parade of big moves as everyone had a chance to shine. Manders hit Cornwallis with a suplex and Delirious with a lariat, AKIRA suplexed Manders on his head and then Warner jabbed AKIRA and built up to a big flip, flop and fly Dusty Rhodes elbow.

Manders used a chair for a running knee strike, but hurt his leg. Justice then hit Page with an unprotected chair shot which seemed to wake him up as Page got to his feet quickly and hit a big boot.

Masked men then came out and helped get some tables into the ring. Page and Manders were bleeding as they went to the top rope where Manders ended up suplexing Page through the table that had two chairs set up on it.

Delirious broke up a pinfall by hitting his top rope splash, followed by Justice doing the same thing as Delirious tried to make the pin. Justice was on the receiving end of a running knee from AKIRA before falling victim to a DDT from Page for The Calling to pick up the pinfall win.

– Delmi Exo called out Taya Valkyrie and wants the MLW Women’s Featherweight title as Valkyrie “has one foot out the door anyway.”

– MLW Fusion will be returning in the summer.

– We saw an ambulance arriving at the building for Hammerstone as Bauer told Sam Laterna he had never seen Hammerstone in as much pain as he is in just now. They started talking about possibly vacating the title when Alex Kane interrupted and said they should crown him as he is the uncrowned king.

This brought in Davey Boy Smith Jr. who reminded him he beat him last week. The inevitable brawl ensued, but it quickly included the whole MLW roster as the announcers hyped up next week’s Battle Riot V match.

MLW announces participants for War Chamber match

The MLW World Champion has enlisted help from The Second Gear Crew to take on The Calling.

MLW announced the participants for its annual War Chamber match on Wednesday. This year’s event takes place on Thursday, April 6, from the Melrose Ballroom in New York.

Alex Hammerstone will team with Mance Warner, 1 Called Manders, and Matthew Justice against The Calling’s Raven, Rickey Shane Page, AKIRA, and a mystery teammate in the War Games-style match.

This will be Raven’s first match in over three years. The 58-year-old will also take part in MLW’s Battle Riot V on April 8 from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

From MLW.com:

The World Heavyweight Champion has linked up with the most dangerous pack of highwaymen in the sport: the Second Gear Crew’s Mance Warner, 1 Called Manders and Matthew Justice. As seen on last night’s UNDERGROUND, Hammerstone recruited the SGC over beers.

With Mance Warner already having fresh and bloody history with The Calling on MLW UNDERGROUND, the “Southern Psychopath” was itching for another brawl with Rickey Shane Page and the rest of The Calling.

Since last summer, The Calling have plagued MLW. Shrouded in mystery, a who’s who on the roster were decimated and left beaten and unable to compete in MLW. With their bodies littered with a black calling card, the attackers would finally be revealed as “The Human Slaughterhouse” Rickey Shane Page, Raven, “The Death Fighter” AKIRA and several still to be identified assailants.
