BVV: TNA No Surrender with Santana & Slater vs. Nemeth & Edwards

TNA No Surrender in a nutshell: the stuff you expected to deliver did, and the stuff you didn’t expect to deliver was much, much better than expected.

It wouldn’t be TNA without some illogical booking and nonsensical backstage segments, but the in-ring material was so good that none of that mattered.

The main event pitted TNA World Champion Mike Santana and X Division champion Leon Slater against Nic Nemeth & Eddie Edwards in an ECW throwback match with a cast of thousands doing run-ins, interference, and returns.

We also saw the Hardys and the Righteous operating as a shockingly good team to take on Order 4.

But the real story was the contributions from people you’d least expect, such as Indi Hartwell, Arianna Grace, and most of all, the great Mike Jackson.

Records reveal CM Punk’s UFC 225 loss was changed to a no contest

In a surprise reveal Wednesday, MMA Junkie reported that CM Punk’s UFC 225 loss to Mike Jackson was quietly changed to a no contest due to Jackson testing positive for marijuana.

MMA Junkie obtained the information via a Freedom of Information Act request, followed by a confirmation by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Held on June 9, 2018, Punk’s unanimous decision defeat was on the main card of the Chicago-based PPV headlined by then-middleweight champion Robert Whittaker vs. Yoel Romero II.

Jackson tested positive for “tetrahydrocannabinol due to marijuana” on fight night with the result officially overturned in October 2018. Jackson also got a three month suspension, but it’s unknown whether he was also fined. The state had told fighters via a memo weeks in advance of the event that the state had a strict no tolerance policy for marijuana.

Neither Punk nor Jackson have commented publicly following the news. Neither man has competed in MMA since that night.

UFC 225 live results: Whittaker vs. Romero 2, CM Punk returns

Welcome to F4WOnline.com’s live coverage of UFC 225: Whittaker vs. Romero 2, emanating from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

The Octagon returns to the Windy City with the deepest fight card of the year, headlined by what has become a non-title fight, but with another title fight still on the card and a slew of big names all along the card.

UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker will fight Yoel Romero in the main event. It was scheduled to be a championship fight, but Romero missed weight on Friday, coming in just over at 185.2 pounds. The fight remains a five-round affair, but Whittaker will walk out of Chicago remaining the champion, win or lose. Whittaker does hold a previous win over Romero, at UFC 213 eleven months ago.

In the co-main event, it will be a battle for the Interim UFC Welterweight Championship as Rafael Dos Anjos takes on Colby Covington. Both men are on impressive win streaks, as Dos Anjos is undefeated since moving to 170 pounds, winning three straight, while Covington has won five straight bouts. The winner should be in line to face UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley later this year.

Also on the main card, former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm welcomes Megan Anderson to the UFC in a fight that could set up the next challenger for Cris Cyborg, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski takes on Tai Tuivasa, and former WWE superstar CM Punk looks for his first professional MMA win after a trying few weeks as he battles Mike Jackson.

In a star-studded preliminary card, we have Alistair Overeem taking on Curtis Blaydes in heavyweight action, women’s strawweights Claudia Gadelha and Carla Esparza do battle, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans returns to 205 pounds to take on Anthony Smith, flyweights Joseph Benavidez and Sergio Pettis take on each other looking for a title shot, and popular lightweight Clay Guida takes on Charles Oliveira.

Follow along with our live coverage of the event beginning at 6:15 p.m. Eastern time with preliminary action all the way through the main card.

We are looking for your thoughts on tonight’s event, so send a thumbs up, a thumbs down or a thumbs in the middle along with a best fight and a worst fight to Dave at [email protected].

UFC’s Dana White: Mike Jackson will be CM Punk’s next opponent

CM Punk facing Mike Jackson in his second UFC fight is as confirmed as it’s going to get until the official announcement is made.

Before today’s UFC 223 media day incident with Conor McGregor, Dana White spoke to TMZ Sports and was asked who he wants Punk’s next opponent to be. When questioned about Jackson specifically, White said “that’s the fight.”

White didn’t specify when the bout would be taking place, but Punk has said he’s fighting at UFC 225 in Chicago on June 9th. Jackson also posted on Twitter and Instagram after White’s interview, “Time to cash in the #MoneyInTheBank! Uncle Dana just delivered the #pipebomb, @cmpunk vs The Truth at #UFC225! #TruthvsPunk #TruthFoodTour”

Like Punk, Jackson only has one professional mixed martial arts fight under his belt. Both of them lost to Mickey Gall in their UFC debuts, with Gall submitting Jackson in February 2016 and then being announced as Punk’s first opponent. Gall went on to defeat Punk with a first-round rear naked choke at UFC 203 in September of that year.

Middleweight champion Robert Whittaker defending his title against Yoel Romero is scheduled to be the main event of UFC 225.

CM Punk vs. Mike Jackson reportedly being discussed for UFC 225

While speaking with the Associated Press in January, Dana White confirmed that he was going to give CM Punk another chance to compete in the UFC Octagon.

White didn’t reveal a date for when Punk would fight again, nor did he mention a potential opponent for him then. And while both of those variables still remain unconfirmed, it seems that the UFC is getting closer to making things official.

Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting reported today that the UFC is discussing Punk vs. Mike Jackson for their pay-per-view at the United Center in Chicago on June 9th. Chicago is, of course, Punk’s hometown, and he tweeted out a pair of emojis when the show was announced last weekend.

Helwani wrote that discussions are in the early stages and no final decision has been made yet.

Jackson’s only pro fight was in February 2016 against Mickey Gall, with Gall winning in 45 seconds and cementing himself as the person Punk would make his debut against.

Duke Roufus, who coaches Punk at Roufusport, claimed last month that Punk has “improved dramatically” since being submitted by Gall in the first round of their fight in September 2016.

UFC 225 will be the company’s first-ever PPV in Chicago.

DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Marathon: Mr. Enhancement Worker

They are the guys who get destroyed by your favorite stars. In years past, enhancement matches were a staple of pro wrestling. Many big stars got their starts putting over the wrestlers of their era and many were forever destined to be in the roll of staring at the lights.

Today, Karl Stern will talk about many of your favorite enhancement wrestlers or jobbers in the old time vernacular. From Barry Horowitz, to Steve Lombardi, to Randy Barber, he tries to cover a lot of the underdogs.

This month, July Classic Wrestling Marathon host Karl Stern has already taken a look at some of the lesser known talents in the business whose job (literally) was to make the stars look like, well, stars.

Arn Anderson started out that way, Mike Jackson was tremendous in the role, and now Karl looks at a variety of others. Some were better than others. Some were so bad they were good. And some were so good that they had longevity in the business in that role and worked many different territories.

Some of them even got pushes in other areas like Iron Mike Sharpe and Barry “Jack Hart” Horowitz, among others.

Join Karl Stern as he takes a look at the wrestlers who made the stars.

If you watched WTBS-17 Georgia Championship wrestling or NWA World Championship Wrestling later, you saw the fiery underdog Mike Jackson week after week.  In fact, many of the enhancement workers you saw on those shows were booked by Jackson.

Mike played a very important role in the territorial era of wrestling, promoting, and booking undercard talent. A tremendous in-ring worker, many workers of that era, including legends like Ric Flair, praised Mike’s work.

Jackson worked many major promotions during the 1980s including Georgia Championship Wrestling, Mid-South (later UWF), Southeastern (later Continental), Florida, and Mid-Atlantic. He even worked for WWF when they came south of the Mason-Dixon line. Mike was a great worker who had a role in wrestling and an important one — even if that role didn’t mean fighting for world titles often.

Karl got to work around Mike a lot in the 1990s when he was king of the indy scene in the Deep South and learned a lot about how to promote the right way by watching him.  Starting out in the 1970s working for Nick Gulas and still working until this day, Jackson has seen many eras of wrestling come and go.

On today’s edition of the Karl Stern July Classic Wrestling marathon, learn all about Mike Jackson.

Time is running out to order a Super Stern Stick 16gb flash drive full of pro wrestling history.  Order soon before time runs out.
