Three title matches announced for WWE NXT

Three title matches have been announced for next week’s WWE NXT.

Mandy Rose will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Dakota Kai, Cameron Grimes will defend the NXT North American Championship against Solo Sikoa, and MSK will defend the NXT Tag Team titles against Grayson Waller and Sanga. Kushida will also face Von Wagner in a singles match.

Rose was involved in the finish of tonight’s NXT Women’s Tag Team title match, allowing Jacey Jayne and Gigi Dolin to regain the titles from Kai and partner Raquel Gonzalez. Later, in a backstage promo, Kai promised revenge.

MSK will defend against Waller and Sanga following an interview that took place on tonight’s show. MSK were doing a promo when Waller and Sanga walked up, with Waller boasting about how he was trending after Saturday. Lee told Waller they won the tag team titles, but Sanga told MSK that they wouldn’t be champions for long. MSK challenged them to a match for tonight’s show, but Waller and Sanga rejected the offer, with Waller pointing to his injured elbow. Waller told them they would take the titles when they were ready.

As Cameron Grimes came out to celebrate his North American title win, Solo Sikoa came out and was respectful, saying that now comes the hard part of becoming champion – defending it. Grimes said he had to fight every day to be here and told Solo that the match was on.

Dolph Ziggler, Mandy Rose retain titles at NXT Stand & Deliver

Dolph Ziggler successfully defended the NXT Championship and Mandy Rose retained her NXT Women’s Championship at Stand & Deliver.

Ziggler defeated Bron Breakker in the main event of Saturday’s show. The finish saw him rake his opponent’s eyes, send him headfirst into an exposed turnbuckle, deliver a super-kick, and get the pin. This was Ziggler’s second successful title defense. He also defeated LA Knight in a championship match on the March 15 edition of NXT.

Rose pinned Io Shirai in a fatal 4-way match that also involved Cora Jade and Kay Lee Ray earlier in the show. This was Rose’s third successful title defense. She previously defeated Jade and Raquel Gonzalez in a triple threat match at New Year’s Evil. She then defeated Kay Lee Ray in a singles match on the February 8 edition of NXT.

The promotion also unveiled a new design to the NXT Women’s Championship belt on the show.

WWE NXT live results: Mandy Rose vs. Kay Lee Ray Women’s title match

A Women’s Championship match headlines tonight’s episode of NXT on Syfy.

NXT is airing on Syfy both this and next week due to the Winter Olympics. On tonight’s show, Mandy Rose will put her NXT Women’s Championship on the line against Kay Lee Ray.

WWE has announced that tonight’s Rose vs. KLR match will air commercial-free.

Next week’s NXT is the special Vengeance Day edition of the show. Before their NXT Championship match next week, Bron Breakker and Santos Escobar will meet for a “championship summit” tonight.

The finals of the men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will take place at Vengeance Day. Tonight, MSK vs. Malik Blade & Edris Enofe and The Creed Brothers vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans will decide who advances to the finals.

Plus, Sarray vs. Dakota Kai, LA Knight vs. Sanga, and Wendy Choo vs. Tiffany Stratton are also set for tonight.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

As the credits roll on the lead-in, a bumper ad highlights Kay Lee Ray on what is being billed as a “Syfy Edition” of NXT.

NXT itself opens with a video package featuring NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose that hypes her title tonight against Kay Lee Ray.

Kicking off the show in the ring is a semifinal in the Dusty Classic tournament.

Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed with Malcolm Bivens) defeat Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) in the semifinals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

Brutus pins Gibson and the Creed Brothers advance to the finals of the Dusty Classic.

Creed Brothers jump Grizzled Young Veterans before the bell, interrupting a GYT promo. GYV used to be such serious wrestlers before their characters took a comedic turn.

They still worked hard to help get the Creeds over, making the up-and-comers look good in the process. The Veterans also used their veteran experience as part of the story within the match.

Brutus falls prey to double team tactics by GYV, and the tide begins to turn. Tandem catapult targets the Brutus’ windpipe, and Brutus is in trouble. GYV work him over.

Hot tag to Julius, and he runs wild. Gibson has to save Drake by breaking up a pinning attempt. Tag by GYV, but Julius is unaware. Julius is then wiped out with a tope. GYV then execute a Doomsday Device, yet Julius is able to kick out at two.

Hot tag to Brutus, and he squares off with Gibson. Slugfest develops, and Gibson targets the windpipe in a callback to earlier in the match. Brutus is again in peril. GYV look to capitalize.

Builds to a Tower of Doom of sorts where Drake takes a superplex. Julius pulls the straps down on his singlet, signaling for the finish. Brutus stops him because Brutus wants to finish it.

Brutus levels Drake with a sliding Ishii lariat, and Brutus covers Gibson for a three count.

Cora Jade is being interviewed about teaming with Raquel Gonzalez. Valentina Cruz Feroz and Yulisa Leon interrupt, and they begin to cut a promo on Jade. They heel on Jade in Spanish. Gonzalez enters the scene, and she trades barbs with them in Spanish. This clearly sets up a tag match.

Wendy Choo apparently went on a shopping spree with Tiffany Stratton’s credit card. That is a crime, but in the WWE universe it is only a plot twist. The card was canceled, so Choo threw it in the trash. Not before buying a bunch of things, and “maxing out” the card. That is highly illegal. Please do not attempt.

Tiffany Stratton defeats Wendy Choo

Stratton pins Choo after a short match.

The silliness of Choo’s character detracts from how good she can be as a wrestler. Stratton improves over her previous performances.

Choo was able to shine, until Stratton broke a nail. Stratton then cut off Choo. Corkscrew splash by Stratton just before she scores a three count.

Pete Dunne in a backstage interview announces next Tuesday on NXT Vengeance Day is a steel cage match with Dunne against Tony D’Angelo.

Dunne is now carrying around a cricket bat, after he recently used the bat to whack the D’Angelo’s fingers.

Pete Dunne defeats Draco Anthony

Dunne pins Anthony despite interference by Tony D’Angelo.

The match oddly begins during a split-screen commercial break. Dunne eventually targets the fingers after the break, and Dunne goes about dissecting Anthony with technical grabbling. Plus strikes, which would lead to the tide turning in the match.

Antony fires up on Dunne, and he takes over on offense. Joe Gacy and Harland watch from a perch looking out over the ring, and Anthony is distracted by them.

Gacy approached Anthony in a digital media angle shot last week. Their story continues to unfold here tonight. The distraction cost Anthony, and Dunne cuts him off.

Tony D’Angelo enters the ringside area looking to attack Dunne. D’Angelo swings a crowbar at Dunne, but Dunne dodges the blow. Dunne posts D’Angelo, thwarting the heel.

Dunne then turns his focus back to Anthony, finishes the match with The Bitter End, and Dunne covers Anthony for a pinfall.

D’Angelo tries to attack Dunne after the match, but Dunne snaps D’Angelo’s fingers. Dunne gets some plunder from underneath the ring, and he throws the plunder into the ring. Dunne then grabs his trusty cricket bat, and he proceeds to cut a promo on D’Angelo.

Dunne tells D’Angelo he needs more than a crowbar next week. Dunne says they shoot attach to the side of the cage all the weapons he threw into the ring to the side, so they can have a “weaponized” cage match.

Zoey Stark and Io Shirai finally agree that Shirai needs a partner for the Dusty Classic since Stark is still injured.

LA Knight defeats Sanga (with Grayson Waller)

Knight pins Sanga despite interference by Waller.

Sanga is portraying a monster heel, so the match was based around that idea. It was David against a Goliath.

Knight never gives up as he tries to knock Sanga off his feet. Eventually, a missile dropkick takes Sanga off his feet.

Waller takes odd a turnbuckle pad, exposing the metal buckle. That heelish plan backfires, as Sanga collides with the exposed turnbuckle. Knight delivers a neckbreaker, and Knight gets a three count over Sanga.

After the match, Waller attempts a sneak attack. Knight thwarts the assault, and he cleans house on Waller before giving him a stunner.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Duke Hudson, and Hudson buries Dante Chen. Hudson says Chen is not here tonight “for a reason.” Hudson wishes Indi Hartwell luck in the Dusty Classic.

Championship Summit

A table is set up in the ring for the two opponents in the main event of Vengeance Day to face off tonight in some sort of summit.

WWE Champion Bron Breakker sits opposite his first challenger, Santos Escobar. Breakker gets up, says he knows how these “contract signing things go.” So, Breakker says he flip the table over now and start fighting right now.

Escobar lets out a sinister laugh and he scoffs. Escobar says has things under conrtol.

Breakker again acts like he wants to fight. Suddenly, the theme music for Dolph Ziggler blares, and out comes Ziggler to interrupt the summit.

Ziggler takes a seat at the table, props his feet up, and he begins to cut a promo. Ziggler jokes that he apparently know works Tuesday, albeit with a bonus. He thanks “Ace” for that.

Ziggler asks Breakker who he is, and Breakker laughs. Breakker says he is the NXT Champion, and he is the reason Ziggler is here. Ziggler responds by listing the title he won, but he has yet to win the NXT title.

The crowd chants for a  “triple threat” as Ziggler continues his promo. Tommaso Ciampa interrupts Ziggler, and Ciampa joins the summit.

Ciampa sits down beside Ziggler, and Ciampa refers to him as “kid” while further deriding him. Escobar exclaims, “What the hell is going on?” That is a very valid question.

The bickering among everyone continues until Ciampa snaps on Ziggler. A melee ensues. Ciampa brawls with Ziggler. Breakker looks to clean house on Legado del Fantasma, but they jump him. Escobar then powerbombs Breakker through the table set up in the ring.

Sarray defeats Dakota Kai

Sarray pins Kai after using a Saito suplex. Sarray’s push rolls on.

Another match that begins during a commercial break. Very back-and-forth. Kai is still doing the crazy gimmick, which is doing her no favors.

NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams are featured in a skit from a barber shop. They were basically talking shop ahead of Hayes’ title defense against Cameron Grimes next Tuesday for Vengeance Day.

The NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jayne, brawl with Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta during a skit. The heels produce an old photograph showing Hartwell with Duke Hudson, so a love triangle is liking to develop.

Nikkita Lyons is the subject of a vignette. She is a famous singer, but she can fight. Kind of like if Hannah Montana trained as in mixed martial arts.

MSK (Nash Carter & Wes Lee) defeats Edris Enofe & Malik  in the semifinals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

MSK advance to the Dusty Classic final after winning this semifinal match

Lots of action in this match between two babyface teams, but the crowd did not seem to favor one or the other. That hurt the match, as the crowd was really into most every other match on the show. They just seem unsure who to cheer for in this match.

They wrestled through a commercial break. The pace quickens after the break, and the match intensifies.

Enofe gets a near fall after a splash off the top rope, but he is soon double teamed by MSK. They execute their tandem finsiher, and Lee covers Enofe for a pinfall.

A great vignette featuring Cameron Grimes hypes him challenging for the North American Championship next week. Grimes returns to the trailer park. He says he would give up all his other successes in life, like getting rich and whatnot, to win a championship.

NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose defeats Kay Lee Ray to retain her title

Rose pins KLR after interference by Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jayne. Io Shirai runs in after the match to save KLR from a beatdown by Toxic Attraction.

Rose’s Toxic Attracion stablemates were supposed to be a non-factory, as they got into a backstage brawl earlier on. Therefore, they were supposedly kicked out of the building for the night. Except that was a swerve.

KLR was getting near falls after a few superkicks when KLR climbs the turnbuckles. Dolan and Jayne hit the ring. Jayne distracts the referee, and Dolan shoves KLR off the top rope.

Rose delivers a knee strike, and she covers KLR for a tainted victory.

Toxic Attraction were not done yet, as Jayne and Dolan hold KLR. Rose grabs KLR’s bat, and Rose teases hitting KLR with the bat.

Io Shirai runs in to make a save. She cleans house on Toxic Attraction, and Shirai looks to have chosen her new tag partner for the Dusty Classic. Shirai saves KLR, thus forming an alliance.

It’s also been announced that the first hour of tonight’s Raw will be commercial-free.

Triple threat NXT Women’s title match set for New Year’s Evil

Image: WWE

The NXT Women’s Championship will be on the line in a triple threat match at New Year’s Evil.

Mandy Rose will defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Raquel Gonzalez and Cora Jade at New Year’s Evil. It will be Rose’s first title defense since winning the championship from Gonzalez at Halloween Havoc this October.

Rose defeated Gonzalez at Halloween Havoc following interference by Dakota Kai. At NXT WarGames earlier this month, Gonzalez, Jade, Io Shirai & Kay Lee Ray defeated Rose, Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne & Kai in the women’s WarGames match.

Jade got the win at WarGames by pinning Jayne. Leading into WarGames, Jade defeated Rose in a non-title match.

Gonzalez defeated Kai in a street fight on NXT tonight. After the match, Gonzalez called out Rose and said she wanted an NXT Women’s Championship rematch. But Jade made her way out to the ring instead. Jade said Gonzalez deserves a rematch, but she wants a match against Rose too. Jade said she wants Rose and the rest of Toxic Attraction to pay for hurting her shoulder at WarGames.

Rose appeared on the video screen and said Gonzalez and Jade are both envious of her. Rose said that, since she’s in the holiday spirit, she’ll defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Gonzalez and Jade in a triple threat match at New Year’s Evil. Dolin and Jayne then attacked Gonzalez and Jade, putting Gonzalez through a table.

New Year’s Evil will be the first NXT episode of 2022. It’s airing live on USA Network on Tuesday, January 4. Here’s the updated card for the show:

  • NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa defends against Bron Breakker
  • NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose defends against Raquel Gonzalez and Cora Jade in a triple threat match

Mandy Rose vs. Cora Jade, tag match added to WWE NXT

Two matches have been added to Tuesday’s episode of WWE NXT 2.0.

NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose will be in action against Cora Jade in a non-title match. Both were part of the show-closing angle on the last episode of NXT 2.0, leading to Jade, Io Shirai and Raquel Gonzalez challenging Rose, Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne and Dakota Kai to a WarGames match. The WarGames event is set for Sunday, December 5.

Also added to Tuesday’s NXT, Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter will face Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta in a tag match.

Already announced for the show, NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa will take on Grayson Waller, plus the NXT North American Championship will be on the line in a triple threat match, as Carmelo Hayes defends against Johnny Gargano and Pete Dunne.

NXT 2.0 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern time on the USA Network. Here is the lineup for Tuesday, November 23:

  • NXT North American Championship: Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Johnny Gargano vs. Pete Dunne
  • Tomasso Ciampa vs. Grayson Waller
  • Mandy Rose vs. Cora Jade
  • Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter vs. Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta

Toxic Attraction six-woman tag set for next week’s WWE NXT

Image: WWE

Toxic Attraction are set for six-woman tag team action on next week’s NXT.

WWE has announced that Toxic Attraction (Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) will take on Io Shirai, Kayden Carter & Kacy Catanzaro on NXT next Tuesday. On tonight’s episode of the show, Carter and Catanzaro saved Shirai from a beatdown by Toxic Attraction.

Rose, Dolin, and Jayne all won titles at Halloween Havoc last Tuesday. Rose defeated Raquel Gonzalez in a Trick or Street Fight to win the NXT Women’s Championship, while Dolin & Jayne won the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles in a Scareway to Hell ladder match against Shirai & Zoey Stark and Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta.

Rose kicked off tonight’s NXT and bragged about Toxic Attraction’s title wins. It was revealed that Dolin and Jayne weren’t with her in the ring because they were attacking Stark backstage. After Rose said Toxic Attraction runs NXT and no one can stop them, she was interrupted by Shirai.

Shirai wanted a match against Rose, but Rose gave her a cheap shot and attacked her instead. Shirai fought back and was going for a moonsault when Dolin and Jayne got involved. Carter and Catanzaro then made the save for Shirai, evening the odds against Toxic Attraction.

A tag team match between Kushida & Ikemen Jiro and The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) has also been announced for next week’s NXT. It appears that Kay Lee Ray will have a match on the show as well. A promo aired on NXT tonight where KLR promised that she’s going to “start to rage” next week.

TUESDAY NEWS UPDATE

WWE

  • The company trademarked several names on October 28, including Von Wagner, Alpha Academy, Queen Zelina, Toxic Attraction, GYV, and RK-Bro.
  • Main Event matches taped prior to Raw for this week include Liv Morgan vs. Tamina and Cedric Alexander vs. Jaxson Ryker.
  • The Miz released a statement on Twitter thanking dance partner Witney Carson and others after being eliminated from Dancing With The Stars last night.
  • Cesaro spoke to the Manchester Evening News about his upcoming series of matches against WALTER in the UK. “He’s somebody I always wanted to face,” he said. “We have a similar background, coming up through pretty much the same ranks in Europe and then travelling the world. I’m very, very excited that this is going to happen. I’m even more excited to see how excited the fans are to see that much. The fact that it’s only on live events makes me strangely excited because it just means it’s hopefully a legendary match that lives on in people’s heads. The fact it’s happening in England, in Europe, is very special. It’s cool to see that England gets something special. I still think we should run a pay-per-view over in England. The fact that they get this match and people are excited for it makes me feel really good.”
  • Mandy Rose spoke to Sean Ross Sapp about how she made her return back to NXT. “I got the call and I didn’t really get much explanation, which is kind of the usual. I didn’t expect anything less. It’s one of those things where they want you to help some of the other talent out, need a good heel, and I said, ‘Sure, why not.’ I live in Florida, it’s not that bad of a commute for me. I kinda just went with it and it worked out really well. I am in the process of helping a lot of the other talent and other women. In that process, I think I kind of evolved myself, in the best way possible. I kind of felt like I needed a little bit of a revamp or whatever it may be. I think we all go through those moments where are characters have to evolve and change a little bit or find some other layers to your character, in a sense. I have and I’m really enjoying this ruthless side of me. I knew I always had it, but sometimes you need the time and space for it. You know how it is on TV, it’s hard with the women getting…we’ve come a really long way but it’s hard with all of us and sometimes you can get lost in the shuffle.”
  • Corey Graves talked to Ryan Satin about recent comments made about Dana Brooke that was perceived as him burying her. “99.9% of the time, everybody realizes that it’s just me doing what I do,” he said (h/t NoDQ). I love walking the line and being provocative. I also make sure, and I try to take great care, that I don’t ever harm anybody from a character perspective. I always want to make people better. For instance, the Dana Brooke issue, I actually sent her a text message the next morning saying, ‘Hey, no hard feelings, it wasn’t personal.’ Full disclosure, I don’t know what’s going to happen on these shows. I am reacting. That’s my choice. There have been times where I sat in production meetings and I have ideas, but I prefer to not know what’s happening because I like to think my reactions are more genuine, I get to use my wit a little bit better.
  • Doudrop spoke to the Daily Star about online abuse she gets and how she doesn’t let it affect her.
  • Sportsnet has an interview with Big E.
  • Matches added to WWE’s YouTube account today include D-Generation X vs. Rated-RKO from WWE Cyber Sunday 2006, Becky Lynch vs. Paige vs. Sasha Banks vs. Brie Bella from the November 2, 2015 edition of Raw, and Jeff Hardy & Bubba Ray and Spike Dudley vs. Rico and Three Minute Warning from Survivor Series 2002.\

Mandy Rose appearance, Dakota Kai match added to WWE NXT

Update —

WWE has announced that Dakota Kai will be in action against Cora Jade on tonight’s NXT. NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa will also discuss what’s next for him after he retained his title against Bron Breakker at Halloween Havoc, and we’ll hear from new NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner).

Imperium defeated MSK in a Lumberjack-O’-Lantern match for the NXT Tag Team titles at Halloween Havoc.

**********

An appearance by the new NXT Women’s Champion will be kicking off tonight’s NXT.

WWE has announced that Mandy Rose will open tonight’s NXT episode. While making the announcement, Rose promised that she’s got a few tricks up her sleeve.

Rose won the NXT Women’s Championship by defeating Raquel Gonzalez in a Trick or Street Fight at Halloween Havoc last Tuesday. Gonzalez lost the match after Dakota Kai made her return to NXT and renewed their rivalry. While dressed as a hooded figure, Kai hit Gonzalez in the back with a shovel. Rose then pinned Gonzalez after hitting a knee strike.

Rose’s Toxic Attraction stablemates Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne also became champions at Halloween Havoc. They defeated Io Shirai & Zoey Stark and Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta in a triple threat Scareway to Hell ladder match to win the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles.

Here’s the updated lineup for tonight’s show:

  • Johnny Gargano & Dexter Lumis vs. NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams
  • Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner vs. Legado del Fantasma (Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde)
  • Dakota Kai vs. Cora Jade
  • Tony D’Angelo will appear on Lashing Out with Lash Legend

  • NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose will kick off the show

Mandy Rose wins NXT Women’s title, Dakota Kai returns

With the help of the returning Dakota Kai, Mandy Rose won the NXT Women’s Championship at Halloween Havoc.

Rose won the NXT Women’s title by defeating Raquel Gonzalez in a Trick or Street Fight. Near the end of the match, a hooded figure appeared and hit Gonzalez in the back with a shovel. Rose then gave Gonzalez a knee strike and pinned her to win the NXT Women’s Championship.

The figure was revealed to be Kai when she took off her hood after the match. Kai and Gonzalez were tag team partners until Kai turned against Gonzalez this July. At NXT TakeOver 36 in August, Gonzalez defeated Kai to retain the NXT Women’s Championship.

Kai took part in main roster dark matches in recent months and made an appearance on WWE Main Event, but she didn’t move to the main roster in the WWE Draft.

This is the first title that Rose has held in her career. She made her return to NXT in July and later aligned with Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne, forming a stable called Toxic Attraction. Dolin & Jayne won the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles in a Scareway to Hell ladder match at Halloween Havoc.

The stipulation for Gonzalez and Rose’s NXT Women’s Championship match was determined by Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal. The wheel landed on Chucky’s Choice, with horror movie character Chucky announcing that the match would be a Trick or Street Fight. Chucky was a “special guest” at Halloween Havoc.

Mandy Rose vs. Ember Moon to kick off WWE NXT

Update —

Ikemen Jiro vs. Joe Gacy has also been added to tonight’s NXT.

**********

Mandy Rose is set for action on tonight’s episode of NXT.

WWE has announced that Rose vs. Ember Moon will kick off tonight’s episode of NXT. The match comes one week after Rose set her sights on the NXT Women’s Championship by attacking Raquel Gonzalez.

Gonzalez retained her NXT Women’s Championship against Franky Monet in the main event of last week’s NXT. In an angle following the match, Toxic Attraction (Rose, Gigi Dolin, and Jacy Jayne) beat down Monet, Jessi Kamea, and Robert Stone on the ramp. Toxic Attraction then surrounded the ring as Gonzalez was in it. Gonzalez tried to fight them off, but Toxic Attraction’s numbers advantage was too much.

Rose laid out Gonzalez with a knee strike and then posed with the NXT Women’s title belt.

Rose and Gonzalez also had an interaction earlier on last week’s show where Rose said the NXT Women’s Championship looks good on Gonzalez, but it’ll look a lot better on her.

Moon last wrestled on 205 Live two weeks ago, defeating Cora Jade. Moon was on a four-match losing streak prior to that.

Here’s the updated card for tonight’s NXT:

  • NXT Tag Team Champions MSK, Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans, Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams
  • Odyssey Jones vs. LA Knight
  • Cora Jade in action
  • The debut of Tony D’Angelo
  • Ikemen Jiro vs. Joe Gacy
  • Mandy Rose vs. Ember Moon

Tommaso Ciampa, Toxic Attraction segments added to WWE NXT

A pair of segments have been announced for tonight’s NXT.

Following his title win last week, new NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa will kick off tonight’s episode. Toxic Attraction (Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) will also “address the NXT Universe” on the show.

Last week’s premiere of NXT 2.0 saw Ciampa defeat LA Knight, Pete Dunne, and the debuting Von Wagner (Cal Bloom) in a four-way match to win the NXT Championship. The title was vacant going into that match after being relinquished by Samoa Joe.

After the match, Ciampa had an interaction with Bron Breakker (Bronson Rechsteiner) backstage. Breakker had made his debut by defeating Knight earlier in the show. Breakker and Ciampa congratulated each other on their wins, and they had a tense staredown as Breakker looked at Ciampa’s title belt.

Rose debuted a new look with brown hair on NXT last week. She interrupted a match between Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter and Dolin & Jayne, leading to a six-woman tag where Toxic Attraction defeated Sarray, Catanzaro & Carter.

Tonight’s NXT will also feature Kushida defending his NXT Cruiserweight Championship against Roderick Strong. Plus, two video packages have been announced for the episode. We’ll see the story of how Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen (Ben Buchanan) became a tag team, along with part one of a look inside the life of Ikemen Jiro.

Briggs & Jensen lost to Imperium’s Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner on NXT last week. Jensen was making his debut in the match.

Two matches, Samoa Joe interview added to WWE NXT

Update —

WWE has also announced that Wade Barrett will host a sit-down interview with NXT Champion Samoa Joe on NXT tonight.

Plus, NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez will face Jessi Kamea in a non-title match.

Tonight’s NXT will feature Mandy Rose’s first match since returning to the brand.

WWE has announced that Rose vs. Sarray will kick off tonight’s episode of NXT. Rose aligned with Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne on NXT last week, offering to take them under her wing after Dolin & Jayne lost a tag team match against Kayden Carter & Kacy Catanzaro.

Rose told Dolin and Jayne that if they never wanted to feel like they did after their loss again, they should come with her and never look back.

Rose returned to NXT this July. She appeared on the stage and scouted a match between Sarray and Dolin.

Prior to returning to NXT, Rose had been part of a tag team with Dana Brooke on Raw.

Sarray was last in action on NXT three weeks ago. In what was her first loss in NXT, Sarray was defeated by Dakota Kai.

Here’s the updated lineup for tonight’s NXT episode:

  • Johnny Gargano vs. LA Knight
  • Tommaso Ciampa vs. Ridge Holland
  • Kyle O’Reilly vs. Duke Hudson
  • NXT United Kingdom Champion Ilja Dragunov appears
  • Roderick Strong vs. Ikemen Jiro
  • Non-title match: NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez vs. Jessi Kamea
  • Wade Barrett will interview NXT Champion Samoa Joe
  • Mandy Rose vs. Sarray

Mandy Rose makes surprise appearance on WWE NXT

Tonight’s NXT featured a surprise appearance by Mandy Rose.

Rose came out to the stage and watched on as Sarray faced Gigi Dolin on tonight’s NXT. Rose looked impressed at the end of the match as Sarry defeated Dolin.

Rose tweeted after her appearance on NXT: “I’m backkkk”

Rose has been part of a tag team with Dana Brooke on Raw. They’ve been feuding with WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya & Tamina. On this Monday’s Raw, there was a backstage segment where Rose & Brooke got into a confrontation with Natalya & Tamina.

After being part of the 2015 edition of Tough Enough, Rose signed with WWE and joined NXT. She was called up to the main roster in 2017.

Sarray is 5-0 in NXT since making her WWE debut this April. Tonight’s Sarray vs. Dolin match was set up when Sarray accepted a challenge that was issued by Dolin. Sarray had said two weeks ago that she wanted a match against Toni Storm, but Storm cut a promo last Tuesday saying that Sarray isn’t on her level.

It was announced last Friday that Storm is coming to SmackDown soon. Shotzi Blackheart & Tegan Nox made their SmackDown debuts last week, defeating Natalya & Tamina in a non-title match.
