Impact Wrestling results: Two title matches, RVD vs. Dreamer

Impact Wrestling returned from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. The opening video focused on the ongoing story with Rosemary, Eddie Edwards vs. Killer Kross, and last week’s great main event between Rich Swann and Michael Elgin.

This week’s Twitch stream was hosted by Melissa Santos. She had some computer issues at first, and so we got a couple of extra Impact Plus Flashbacks for those watching on Twitch. For the post-show, they aired Moose vs. Eddie Edwards from this year’s Homecoming pay-per-view.

Sami Callihan defeated Fallah Bahh (w/ Scarlett Bordeaux)

The story of the match was that Callihan brought out a more vicious side of Bahh — whether it was to show off to Bordeaux or to survive the match. Callihan jumped Bahh to start things off, but Bahh quickly cut him off with a flying crossbody. Bahh kept control with chops and stomps. Callihan even tried biting off Bahh’s exposed toe, but it was to no avail.

The match spilled outside, where they brawled for a bit with chops. But as they made their way back to the ring, Callihan caught Bahh with a clothesline that dropped him back to the floor.

Back in the ring, Callihan tortured Bahh’s bare foot, biting the toes and twisting them. Callihan locked in a sleeper, but Bahh made a comeback as he hulked up. Bahh came back with a good belly-to-belly and side slam for a two count. Bahh went for the top rope Banzai Drop, but Callihan rolled out of the way, and thankfully, Bordeaux was there to tell Bahh not to dive.

Callihan got a two count with a kick combination, and Bahh was bleeding from the mouth. Bahh hit a Samoan Drop and once again went for the Banzai Drop, but now it was the Crist brothers that came out to help Callihan. Bordeaux confronted both of them and took them out with a rolling senton. Inside the ring, Bahh used the distraction to get a two count on Callihan.

Bahh hit a suicide dive to take out all of oVe. But when he tried to capitalize, Callihan caught him with a draping Cactus Special and pinned Bahh by putting his feet on the ropes. Pretty good opener.

Tommy Dreamer cut a promo backstage talking about the first impressions he had of Rob Van Dam and their history throughout ECW, WWE, and old TNA. He talked about them going at it one last time tonight.

Melissa Santos interviewed Johnny Impact and Johnny Bravo. She asked about helping Elgin last week. Impact was explaining that he wanted to let Elgin keep sending people to the hospital. Elgin walked up to them, and Impact offered to tag together and send Swann and Mack to the hospital next.

Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie defeated Madison Rayne to retain her title

Taya ran around the ring to start the match, but Rayne soon used a spear to stop her and started delivering a flurry of punches. Rayne kept control, getting a two count with a second rope crossbody.

Back from commercial, Rayne delivered a cutter for another two count — and Taya once again decided to run away and leave the ring. Rayne tried to catch Taya with a baseball slide while she was distracted, but Taya was ready for her, caught her leg, and started kicking her hamstring to finally ground her.

Taya focused on Rayne’s leg by stomping her knee over and over on the mat. Rayne tried to make a comeback with strikes, but she had a weak footing that Taya easily broke. Same when Rayne thought she could do a suplex. Taya locked in a single-leg crab, but Rayne made the ropes.

Taya started getting more and more cocky, distracting herself and talking trash and giving Rayne the time to recover a bit. Rayne finally manage to reverse a running hip attack with a kick and a tornado DDT. Taya pulled the referee in front of her to once again cut off Rayne, but it didn’t last long as Rayne returned with a schoolboy for a two count. She transitioned into a single-leg crab, but Taya made the ropes.

Taya connected with two knee lifts and went for Road to Valhalla, but Rayne reversed it. Rayne went for a reverse DDT, but Taya countered into Road to Valhalla for the win.

As Taya was celebrating in the ring, Rosemary suddenly appeared. The crowd popped big. Rosemary tied up Su Yung in the ring post and went to face off with Taya and make her intentions clear — she wants the Knockouts Championship.

We got a Deaners Vignette of them eating Philly cheesesteak. Cody Deaner talked about The Desi Hit Squad stealing their last match and talked about the sacrifices they’ve made to come to Impact.

Backstage, James Mitchell met with Rosemary and told her that they’ve always looked at her as part of the family, but he was starting to get annoyed at Rosemary stealing bridesmaids and Su Yung. Rosemary told Mitchell that they’re done with him and technically told him that she is planning to kill Su Yung.

The Impact Plus Flashback of the Week was Raven and The Sandman’s debut in The Asylum from February 2003.

We had a video recap of Eddie Edwards and his kendo stick. Edwards talked about what the stick meant to him. He did acknowledge it was just a stick, but it was a memento that had been with him in the last months and through his struggles.

Edwards challenged Killer Kross to a fight next week. Edwards had his mouthpiece on and was talking funny.

The Rascalz were in the Treehouse. They were sober and arguing because they were hating their new training regiment. Zachary Wentz proposed they smoke, then they were all happy and ready to train again. Now that they were back to normal, they dominated their training session.

Impact Tag Team Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz) w/ Konnan defeated The North (Josh Alexander & Ethan Page) to retain their titles

Santana and Alexander started the match with a sequence of reversals and counters. Alexander dominated with his strength advantage and gave Santana a cheap shot to get some control, but Santana managed to tag in Ortiz before he got completely cut off.

Page came in — only to take a couple of double-team moves from LAX. Alexander returned and took out Santana with a running crossbody to the back and finally cut off Ortiz.

The North worked over Ortiz with quick tags and double-team moves, earning a couple of two counts along the way. Page was in with Ortiz, who made a small comeback with a neckbreaker, but Alexander had taken out Santana once again. Ortiz was forced to survive a bit longer until Santana could make it back to the corner.

Santana and Alexander tagged in, with the former running wild over The North. Santana hit a sunset flip for a two count. LAX then used a slingshot into a kick on Alexander for another two count, then The North hit a quick combo on Santana for a two count for themselves.

Santana went for the propelled cutter, but Alexander caught him and tossed him out, leaving Ortiz open for a finisher. Alexander pinned Ortiz and Santana was late to break up the pin, but the ref still counted only two.

The match continued with LAX hitting a cutter, superkick, and Street Sweeper combo to pin Alexander and retain their titles. Great match if we ignore that one botched pin attempt. The commentary team sold it as controversial and said that they’ll review the tape and give The North another title shot if they see fit.

“Disco Inferno” Glenn Gilbertti vs. Ashley Vox ended in a no contest

This was announced as an exhibition match. Before it began, Disco cut a promo talking trash about women’s wrestling and said that he would be doing live commentary during the match. He asked production to cut off Don Callis and Josh Mathews’ headsets.

Disco interviewed Vox and just made fun of her over and over until Vox got tired of his voice and started the match.

Disco still used the distractions to cheap shot her and beat her up a bit, ramming her into the turnbuckle. Disco locked in a headlock and actually called the match while doing it. In a heelish way, he was hilarious.

Disco eventually got tired and hit an old school thumb to the throat behind the ref’s back. He kept talking trash, giving Vox the opening to roll him up for a two count. Vox got some offense in, dropping Disco, but Disco got an opening and hit a stunner but broke up his own pin.

Disco went for a second stunner, but Tessa Blanchard finally came out for the save, running Disco to the back. This was longer than it needed to be.

Blanchard vs. Disco was announced for next week.

Dezmond Xavier defeated Ace Austin, Petey Williams, and Rohit Raju (w/ Gama Singh) in a fatal four-way match

Raju took out Xavier to start the match. Austin then took Raju out, right before Williams hit a couple of moves on both men. Williams went for an early Canadian Destroyer, but Austin cut him off and gave him the Ace finger cut.

Xavier returned and took out Austin. He exchanged some reversals with Raju, who he dropped with a combo right before diving on Austin. Williams hit a dive on Xavier, followed by a Space Flying Tiger Drop by Austin on both of them.

Back in the ring, Austin superkicked both Raju and Xavier. Williams hit the Destroyer on Austin. Xavier came in and Williams was going for another Destroyer, but Raju foot stomped him in the back of the neck and took him out. Xavier kicked Raju and pinned him to take the win. This had fast-paced action but was too short.

Announced for next week: Eddie Edwards vs. Killer Kross in a street fight, Tessa Blanchard vs. Glenn Gilbertti, and Michael Elgin & Johnny Impact vs. Rich Swann vs. Willie Mack.

Rob Van Dam defeated Tommy Dreamer

This was billed as their final match against each other ever. They spent the first few minutes playing to the crowd’s dueling chants and E-C-Dub chants. This was total fan service for the Philly crowd.

They finally started wrestling with a short series of reversals. RVD got the first pin attempt with a rolling leg sweep. Dreamer hit a suplex. They exchanged a couple of reversals, ending in a standoff. It had already been five minutes since they started — this was going slow.

RVD played to the fans and Dreamer tried to roll him up. Dreamer went for the Dusty strikes. RVD countered but was sent out to the floor. Dreamer spat water on RVD, seemingly wanting the match to get extreme — and thus RVD hit the springboard apron leg drop and brought out a chair for the Van Daminator to the corner.

Dreamer set up RVD in the tree-of-woe with a chair and delivered a running dropkick. RVD came back with a Rolling Thunder onto a chair once Dreamer moved out of the way. Dreamer dropped RVD with a DDT onto the chair for a two count.

Dreamer went for a piledriver, but RVD blocked him once. Dreamer hit it on his second attempt, getting a two count. Dreamer went for a diving elbow, but RVD dodged and Dreamer went face-first into a chair with a drop toe hold. RVD delivered the Five Star Frog Splash to pick up the win.

I can’t say it was a good match. Both men looked old, but the spectacle of this match in the old ECW Arena was enough for the live fans to go crazy for it.

After the match, The North came down and attacked both RVD and Dreamer. They mocked them, but RVD and Dreamer made a comeback until Moose came out to aid The North. Moose set up for the spear, but the lights suddenly went out and Sabu returned to make the save.

RVD, Dreamer, and Sabu joined forces to take out The North and Moose to close the show.

Final thoughts —

Overall, this was a good and entertaining episode. The main event felt completely like fan service and somewhat out of context to the whole direction of the show, but nonetheless, this was a fun watch.

LAX’s Santana cleared to return to the ring after MCL injury

After suffering a knee injury earlier this month, LAX’s Santana has been cleared to return to the ring.

Santana posted a tweet today announcing the news: “IM CLEARED!!! Thanks everyone for the positive vibes sent my way. It truly meant the world. Now LETS GET IT!”

Santana suffered the injury during LAX’s triple threat tag match against oVe (Jake & Dave Crist) and the New York Wrecking Krew (Smoothe Blackmon & Chris Seaton) at Impact and House of Glory Wrestling’s Code Red show on May 5.

In a statement that he posted on May 9, Santana revealed that the injury was a stage two tear in his MCL. He apologized for the events LAX (Santana & Ortiz) had to call off over the next couple of weeks, noting that the doctor stressed the importance of rest to him if he wanted to avoid surgery.

LAX are the current Impact Tag Team Champions. They won the titles from the Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix) at Impact’s Rebellion pay-per-view last month.

LAX defending their Tag Team titles against The North (Josh Alexander & Ethan Page) will air on this Friday’s episode of Impact.

LAX’s Santana suffered MCL tear at Impact Code Red show

Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champion Santana is currently dealing with a knee injury.

In a statement that he posted on Instagram yesterday, Santana revealed that he suffered a stage two tear in his MCL at Impact’s Code Red event with House of Glory Wrestling on May 5. LAX defeated oVe (Jake & Dave Crist) and the New York Wrecking Krew (Smoothe Blackmon & Chris Seaton) in a triple threat tag match on the show.

Santana wrote that the doctor stressed the importance of rest to him if he wants to avoid having surgery and being out of action longer. Santana apologized for all of the events LAX have had to call off over the next couple of weeks.

LAX won the Impact Tag Team titles from Pentagon Jr. & Fenix in a Full Metal Mayhem match at Rebellion on April 28. Impact has had three nights of television tapings since then, with LAX vs. Moose & Josh Alexander airing on tonight’s episode.

Here’s Santana’s full statement about the injury:

It’s been a rough few days for me but PMA is everything in these cases. Like I’ve said before, sometimes we need UNFRIENDLY reminders to take it easy. This past Sunday at Impact’s show in Queens, I suffered a knee injury during our match. I knew something was wrong right away because it was a feeling I’ve never felt before. The next day, I went to see the same exact doc that took care of me at the show. Had an ultrasound done on my knee which showed a stage 2 tear in my MCL. It’s being held together by strands and he’s surprised that it didn’t completely tear during the rest of the match. He stressed the importance of rest if I want to avoid surgery and risk being out for a longer period of time. That’s a risk I’m truly not willing to take, especially at the point we’re at now. I’m FINALLY listening to my body. I have a family who depend on me. It’s stressful and depressing but I’m trying to look at the glass half full and realize that I’ll get to spend more time with them. I want to apologize to all the events we had to call off the next couple of weeks and to all the fans who were expecting to see us. Thank you for your endless support thru every step of our journey. I AM OK AND WILL BE BACK SOON, NASTIER THAN EVER!

Joey Janela’s Spring Break 3, Pt. II: A wild Clusterf*ck battle royal

The showcase of the immortal drunkards and deathmatch kings is upon us: the second part of the third annual Joey Janela’s Spring Break. Masato Tanaka faces LA Park, while the modern incarnation of LAX faces the only incarnation of the Rock ‘N Roll Express. Also, the greatest spring break battle royal ever is set to happen.

**********

Our show late Saturday night in Jersey City, NJ, got a late start due to the ROH/NJPW show , but now we get Ron Funches on commentary. Tanaka’s theme plays, but Joey Janela comes out with Penelope Ford to face Jungle Boy. They’re in the same buildling they were in last night and the fans resume singing Jungle Boy’s theme. A giant “F ROH” chant breaks out due to the delay.

Jungle Boy submitted Joey Janela

They trade a million superkicks before Joey goes down to his knees and eats another one. He then gets up and lands another superkick, but Joey gets the edge off a lariat. Jungle Boy sends him out and hits a series of lopes and topes. Jungle goes up top for a moonsault, but Joey blocks it and lands a crazy high angle inverted brainbuster on the apron. That insanity only gets 1.

Jungle Boy lands a slingshot spear and a jungle cutter snaps him with a high angle landing for 2. Penelope comes in and hits a flying rana and then a a spike headscissor, but Jungle hits a pop-up backstabber to her. Joey lands a series of kneeling elbows and gets a dragon clutch.

Jungle Boy escapes and gets a rolling death valley driver on the ring. Joey gets 2 off a tombstone and then hits a super brainbuster for 1. They go back and forth on snap German suplexes. Joey jumps up for a choke, but Jungle Boy gets a standing twister choke and Joey taps out. For the second night in a row, Joey has lost on his signature event. They hug and raise hands.

LAX defeated The Rock ‘n Roll Express

LAX comes down while they are being put over as having a massive rise from relative obscurity in Beyond Wrestling to now being what they are.

Robert is taken to the corner by Santana, who then bowls him over. Ortiz comes in and gets knocked down quickly. Robert works an arm ringer, but it doesn’t last long. Ricky and Ortiz are in and Ricky (who still has a great armdrag) armdrags him down. Robert lands a noggin knocker and then a sleeper on Santana. A miscue leads to Ortiz eating a lariat from Santana. A Canadian Destroyer lands and Morton hits a tope on LAX on the floor. My god.

But, LAX recovers and hit a run-up cannonball in the corner that ends it.

Ortiz says that this was their ninth match of the week and their most anticipated one. Santana breaks down talking about how much they’ve influenced him and the two bow to the Rock’n’Rolls.

LA Park defeated Masato Tanaka

This was a battle of The Chairman vs. the receiver of some of the nastiest chairshots in wrestling history, so it should be interesting from beginning to end. A shoving match lead to a chop battle and then kicks and a nasty Park overhand chop. They go back and forth on running lariats with Park getting a shocking amount of speed for his age and weight. Park landed a chairshot and turned around a bit too late to logically make it, so he doesn’t see Tanaka get up, but he does and lands a rolling elbow to the chair that gets two.

Tanaka gets two off a tornado DDT and then hits a crossbody to the floor. Tanaka throws a beer at him and the announcers talk about how the mask can create a waterboarding effect with the liquid. Park slams him into a sea of chairs, gets a door and throws it in the ring, and then finds another one. The door is in the corner, but Tanaka takes him down and gets a frog splash for two. Then, LA Park spears him through the door to win it.

The Greatest Clusterf*ck Battle Royal

Necro Butcher comes out as number one and looks like his own grandfather. Then, Nick F’N Gage is here to battle him, apparently wearing the same shirt he’s been wearing all weekend because the white parts of his shirt are covered in blood. Schlak and Marcus Grain are here and Necro KOs Grain. Necro and Schlak then get into a hockey fight.

Georgie Boy is out, but no word on if the rubber chicken is also in the match. Nick beats him up with the chicken. A dueling door war leads to Swoggle coming down. He hits a shin music and some chin music on Shlak. Arik Cannon is out and stares down Gage right away. Swoggle runs wild on Necro and Georgie Boy is tossed out.

Joe Gacey runs in and hits a DVD on Grain before Brian Pillman Jr. comes down. Grain and Shlak use a plastic bag over the head to Pillman. Nate Webb and Marko Stunt are out, but not just in the match, but they’re also singing and playing guitar with the fans singing alongside them. Swoggle and Necro take out Nick Gage.

Shlak beats up Swoggle. MJF is out and beats up Marko and Nate with a chair while wearing an MDK shirt. Joey Ryan comes down which was surprising after he was running an opposition show to this one last night. Sexy Eddie comes down too and Joey oils him up and Brian as well. Joey and Eddie have an oil off before Jefe comes out. He wants oil, but doesn’t get it. Eddie’s towel is removed but he’s bare-assed and it finds its way into Joey’s face several times.

Sexy Eddie gets a moonsault and he’s gone to hopefully get clothing. Nick Morrettii is out and now Stunt formally joins the fray along with his brother Logan. Necro tries to lift them up and take them out which works for Logan. Team Whitewolf is in and take out Pillman immediately. Swoggle gets a dick claw on Joey and it causes Joey to be eliminated due to his center of gravity.

Egotistico Fantastico comes in and hits a moonsault on Durst for 2. G. Raver comes out with hypodermic needles and he spikes Swoggle, who then hits a German. Superkick takes out Swoggle. Kikutaru comes in to poke asses for a while and makes the ref pass out before another ref puts the fingers up to Kikutaru’s nose and he passes out and is taken out.

Homicide came down to the ring and squares off with Teddy Hart They slug it out before Teddy lands an uppercut. Cryme Tyme (!) returns to the ring with giant beards. Teddy and Homicide reunited for the good of JAPW and battled Shad and JTG. Teddy gets taken out. Shlak gets schoolboyed and taken out by Cannon. Grim Reefer is out and now Teddy Hart is out with a cat, who he hopefully won’t throw into the air again. The Ugly Ducklings are out to provide a modern-day Dupp act. Colby Corino is out gets a tornado DDT on Reefer. Slim J comes down with Funches summing him up as a white guy in a bandanna, so he must be tough. Facade comes down and he really should be gaining more momentum as he’s got a solid look.

A ropewalk doomsday kick hits one Duckling, leading to a reverse rana accidentally hitting another. MJF gets rid of Cryme Tyme, but he’s knocked out by Necro. Gringo Loco is down and looks like what you’d get if you combined a balding trucker with Fat Super Crazy from 2005. He lands a nice Spanish Fly and then AJ Grey comes down and tears through the Ducklings. A Steiner Screwdriver hits for Grey and then he hits a tornillo dive onto a pile on the floor.

Ophidian is out and works with Raver before the Ducklings tope guys on the floor. Gringo Loco hits a big flip dive before Rich Swann arrives. Swann hits a corkscrew dive to the floor and then Facade hits a springboard 450. Cannon teases a dive and flips them off. Dustin Thomas (aka No Legs from Friday night) is out and hits a big 610. He gets a win with a swanton and the fans sing “No Legs” to the tune of “Ole”, so he’s made.

Brendan Brown is out and MJF lowblows him, but MJF is taken out. Facade does a ropewalk 450 onto the floor onto no one. Pharoah and Odinson are out to toss the Ducklings around. Shane Mercer comes down and forms an alliance with Necro. No Legs gets tossed out to the floor. Shane hits a big suplex and a moonsault powerslam off the second rope.

Jake Atlas is out followed by Australian Suicide. Mercer slugs it out with KTB and then Caveman Ug comes down and barks…as you do. KTB and Ug chop and headbutt the daylights out of each other. Ug has great form on his butterfly suplex and snap uranage. Stunner takes out Australian Suicide. Crowbar comes down and other than a tattoo on his chest and redoing his facial hair, he looks very similar to how he did in WCW. Super Rana gets 2 for Crowbar.

Matt Treemont is down and brawls with Necro while Gacey takes out Crowbar with a chair. Grizzly Redwood returns to battle Shane Mercer. I don’t see that going well for him and Crowbar is taken out by a moonsault from the caveman. Chris Dickinson and Pinky Sanchez come down and Necro runs wild with forearms. Necro rakes the eyes of Pinky. Michael Blaze ccmes down and rains down superkicks. Kip Osbourne and Frankie Pickard arrive as partners and brawl with each other.

NWO Sting (Jeff Farmer) is out and is still jacked. Tracy Smothers is still in town and I’m sure he’s no more sane than he was last night, so tt’s time for UltraMegaMassHomicide. Mantaur comes down and is unbelievably slow. Mantaur needs to work with Orange Cassidy for a slow motion vs. regular motion spot. Matt Nix comes in is worked over by NWO Sting.

Jimmy Lloyd emerges from his ungodly violent deathmatch last night to start brawling and lands a rolling death valley driver. Takeda comes down to resume their war from last night. Then, Mantaur got an elimination. Jeff Cannonball brawls with Takeda and lands a tombstone in such a way that I’m astounded he didn’t tear both knees upon impact. Ethan Page is out to fight for his very soul. Essa Rios is out and looks about the same as he did 20 years ago, just a bit chunkier around the middle. Necro’s just gone before “Maneater” blares as Ashley Vox, Allie Kat, Maria Manic, Solo Darling, Su Yung, and Session Moth Martina are out. They run wild and beat the tar out of the men. Martina goes for a grind, but spits beer and lands a DDT. Stunt hits Ashley in the stomach, but she lands an air raid crash on him.

Shazza beats up Frank the Clown who comes out and in the process, Funches finds his headphones. Frank gets a variety of angry chants as he eats a variety of kicks to the lower groin region. Now we get light tubes and Jimmy Lloyd gets killed with death by them all. Dickinson eats a superplex through two tables by Manic. They tear the ring up and let up Aubrey Edwards because she’s a female ref. They drag Joey Janela out and beat him up before a Signal Lost message hits the screen.

Well, this was a night of insanity with a very unique and memorable ending.

Impact Wrestling results: LAX vs. Eddie Edwards & Eli Drake

This week’s Impact took place at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada from the newest set of tapings. The Twitch stream was hosted by Melissa Santos.

The opening video recapped the escalating war between LAX and the Lucha Bros, Scarlett Bordeaux defeating Disco Inferno, Gail Kim’s Rebellion announcement, the controversial finish to Killer Kross vs. Brian Cage, and the sad demise of Allie.

Petey Williams defeated Trey Miguel, Idris Abraham, Ace Austin, Jake Crist, and Aiden Prince in a six-man scramble

It had been a while since Abraham was last on Impact. Aiden Prince is a local wrestler from PCW.

The match started with wrestlers pairing up with each other and all of them trying to steal roll-ups on each other. Austin was the first to get taken out with four superkicks at once. Miguel hit a dive on half of the wrestlers in the match, only to get taken out by Austin next after doing some impressive looking headstands on the apron.

Everyone started pairing up one by one, getting a chance to show off before getting taken out. Austin and Abraham were quite impressive — the latter at one point took a plancha from Prince, who somewhat landed on top of his head.

Miguel hit the X19 before Williams locked the Sharpshooter on him. They did a Tower of Doom spot with Prince on top. Williams hit the Canadian Destroyer on Miguel for a two count when the pin was broken up by the rest.

Prince hit a dive, taking out everyone except Williams, who hit a Canadian Destroyer from the top rope on Jake Crist to win the match. Great opener — it got “This is awesome” chants at one point. Crist seemed hurt at the end.

– LAX cut a promo backstage. Ortiz felt that this feud with the Lucha Bros is getting out of hand, but Santana told him that getting here was all they wanted.

Konnan told them that this was all because they had big mouths and it escalated to him getting disrespected and now it was about getting respect. Konnan told them to take care of business against Eddie Edwards & Eli Drake tonight.

– Melissa Santos interviewed Taya Valkyrie. She asked if Jordynne Grace was getting another title shot since Grace won their match by countout last week. Valkyrie was interrupted by Madison Rayne, who said that she wasn’t lost in the Undead Realm, she was “somewhere worse.”

Rayne put her name on the list towards the Knockouts Championship — but Grace came up and said that Rayne couldn’t just cut in line. Valkyrie proposed that Rayne and Grace wrestle for the number one contender’s spot for Rebellion. Rayne was a total heel.

oVe (Sami Callihan & Madman Fulton) w/ Dave Crist defeated Rich Swann & Willie Mack

Swann ran to the ring during the entrance and went straight for Callihan. He stomped and chopped Callihan all over the ring. Willie Mack came in and continued the punishment with power moves — at one point hitting a springboard neckbreaker. Callihan eventually caught Mack with a clothesline when Mack distracted himself with Fulton.

Back from commercial, oVe was working over Mack. Fulton hit a delayed suplex on him. Callihan decided to get into a chop exchange with Mack, which gave him time to recover and hit the Samoan drop and moonsault combo, but Fulton attacked him before he could tag out. Mack would soon after hit a desperation Thesz press and tag Swann.

Swann came in hot, superkicking both Fulton and Callihan. Swann hit the Lethal Injection on Callihan, but he couldn’t land the Phoenix Splash when Callihan moved. He went to hit a pescado, but Fulton caught him, giving the opening for Mack to hit a tope con giro and take out all of oVe.

Back in the ring, Swann went for a Frankensteiner on Callihan, but Fulton held Callihan from behind, helping him block and drop Swann with a powerbomb. Mack saved Swann from the piledriver and went for a crossbody, but Fulton caught him in the middle of the air. Callihan hit the piledriver on Swann to finally pick up the win.

After the match, all of oVe stomped on Swann until Tommy Dreamer came out for the save with a chair. Dreamer faced off with Fulton, but Callihan pulled him away instead.

– Rolando Menendez interviewed Johnny Impact. He told Johnny that his actions were deceptive. Johnny threatened Menendez before saying that he enjoyed being champion and asked what’s the point of being smarter than everyone if you don’t rub it in everyone’s face. Killer Kross walked up, and Johnny told him that he is getting his title shot as promised.

– We got a video from last week’s Rascalz roundtable. Moose once again showed up and bullied them. Moose said that his girlfriend could bring friends and make it a party after next week, when he gets to kick Wentz’s butt. This was pretty funny.

– The GWN Flashback Moment of the Week was Rosemary vs. Su Yung from May 2018 when Yung took out Rosemary with a Panic Switch from the ramp onto a table and then proceeded to lock her in the coffin.

– Rosemary was shown walking in a cemetery, remembering what happened last week in the Undead Realm. Kevin Sullivan actually revealed that he is the father of Rosemary.

Rosemary found Allie’s grave, where she blamed Kiera Hogan for her death because it was James Mitchell that caught her and distracted Rosemary from the battle. She promised to get revenge.

Jordynne Grace defeated Madison Rayne to become the Knockouts Championship number one contender

The match started with both fighting for wrist control and quick pins with a series of reversals. Grace quickly gained control with her strength advantage. Rayne went for a top rope crossbody, but she just crashed against Grace.

Rayne started using her speed to get as many roll-ups and kicks on Grace to finally get her off her feet, but Grace just got back up and hit a big Pounce for a two count. There was then a big senton for another two count as Grace started working over Rayne’s back. Grace hit a backbreaker and sidewalk slam for yet another two count. She continued this dominance for a couple more minutes.

Eventually, Grace went for the Vader Bomb, but Rayne moved away and finally got an opening to recover and get some offense in. Rayne went for another flying crossbody — this time dropping Grace for a two count.

Grace went for the O’Connor roll, but Rayne reversed it into a sleeper. As much as Grace broke it, Rayne wouldn’t let go. Grace got off and hit a torture rack into a bomb for a two count.

Rayne hit a crucifix pin for a near fall. Grace hit the Grace Driver and pinned Rayne to earn a title shot at the Rebellion pay-per-view. Good match, but the crowd was somewhat dead.

After the match, Valkyrie came out and jumped Grace from behind. Grace was making a comeback, but Johnny Impact came out to distract her, allowing Valkyrie to beat her up. Valkyrie hit a curb stomp and set her up for Johnny’s Countdown Splash, but Brian Cage came down for the save and ran the couple to the back.

– Backstage, Ethan Page and Josh Alexander were talking. They talked about being the best from the area and said that Monster Mafia can show they’re the best team — not just in the area, but the world. I’m glad we’re getting Monster Mafia.

Rohit Raju (w/ The Desi Hit Squad) defeated Fallah Bahh

Bahh actually lost some weight since the last set of tapings. Good for him.

Raj Singh distracted Bahh to start the match, giving Raju the opening to jump him, but Bahh was not phased thanks to his size advantage. This was the usual power vs. speed match, with Raju managing to get a lot of offense in as long as Bahh wouldn’t get a hold of him.

After a bit of offense by Raju, Bahh caught him with a Samoan drop and a subsequent crossbody to set him up for the Banzai Drop. Gama Singh distracted the referee, giving Raj the opening to take out Bahh. Raju picked up the win with a roll-up. The match was okay, nothing special, but seeing Bahh wrestle is always a treat.

After the match, Scarlett Bordeaux hit the ring. She distracted Desi Hit Squad, allowing Bahh to take them both out. Bordeaux hit a running hip attack on Raj before Bahh and her celebrated in the ring.

– We got a vignette of Cody and Jake Deaner getting Impact contracts. Looks more promising than the last time we saw Deaner on Impact.

– Josh Mathews ran down the card for Rebellion, announcing that Swann and Callihan will go at it for the X-Division Championship.

– We got a career retrospective video package for Gail Kim. They put her over and how her feud with Awesome Kong had turned the page for women’s wrestling in the United States. At the end, they recapped the current feud with Tessa Blanchard.

– Melissa Santos interviewed Blanchard. She asked about the Gail Kim video and what it felt like to face a legend at Rebellion. Blanchard responded by questioning the “legend” part of the question.

Blanchard said that Kim was a legend, but only in her era of bra and panties matches, not Blanchard’s era. Good promo by Blanchard.

Eli Drake & Eddie Edwards defeated LAX (Santana & Ortiz)

Josh Matthews actually brought up that LAX were just in New Jersey fighting Low Ki & Ricky Martinez, making it seem like this show was live.

Both teams talked trash to each other to start the match. Drake went to cheap shot Konnan, who blocked it and hit Drake. Referee Johnny Bravo kicked Konnan out to the back.

In the ring, Santana and Ortiz jumped Edwards and Drake to start the match. Both teams went back and forth with quick tags and some blind tags in between. There was a lot of double-team moves from both teams.

Santana got the closest to a hot tag, going wild on Edwards. He went for a frog splash, but Drake cut him off and hit a great superplex. Edwards got a two count with a powerbomb. Santana hit a rolling cutter on Edwards, followed by the double inverted suplex, but Drake pulled Ortiz to break up the pin.

LAX went for the Street Sweeper, but Lucha Bros came out to distract Santana. Santana dove on them, giving Drake the opening to hit Ortiz with the kendo stick, setting him up for Edwards’ Boston Knee Party for the win.

Lucha Bros took out LAX with a pair of superkicks after the match. They brought out a table, with Pentagon powerbombing Santana through it to close the show as they stood tall over LAX.

Final thoughts —

A really good show by Impact. The work inside the ring and the build toward Rebellion were both solid.

Impact Wrestling results: Lucha Bros vs. LAX

Tonight’s Twitch stream was hosted by Don Callis and Melissa Santos, with a special cameo by Brian Cage, and a post-show interview with Al Snow, talking about his purchase of OVW and their upcoming show with Impact Wrestling.

Opening video recapped Taya Valkyrie and Johnny Impact’s defenses from the Uncaged special episode, plus the attack of Sami Callihan on Rich Swann. Tonight, Impact Wrestling returns to Sam’s Town Casino from Las Vegas, Nevada for this new set of tapings.

Johnny Impact opened the show coming out to the ring. He cut a promo saying that he has been the fighting champion he said he’d be when he won the title. Johnny brought up his questionable wins against Cage, but at Uncaged he defeated all those men and closed that chapter. He said he is ready to move on to the next contender, but the man to come out is Moose.

Moose got on the mic and made fun of Johnny complaining of being hurt and having to fight a lot. Moose said that the only reason he didn’t win is because of Brian Cage and Killer Kross, who comes out to join them in the ring.

Kross came out to a big pop. Kross called Moose a betrayer and told Moose that he should know better than to cross him. They did a small bit of comedy, talking about fashion, that was really off with the mood. Johnny tricked Kross and Moose into having a No. 1 contendership match.

Killer Kross vs. Moose for an Impact World Title shot went to a no contest

This was a great hoss fight. Both men went straight for the shoulder tackles and forearms. Kross had the early advantage, taking down Moose with a series of clotheslines to the corner until Moose pulled the referee in front of him and used the distraction to low blow Kross for a two count. With another distraction, Kross returned the favor hitting Moose low for a two count himself.

Kross sent Moose to the outside where they brawled around, taking out Johnny Impact in the process, who was doing commentary at ringside. As soon as they made it back to the ring, Johnny attacked them both, causing the ref to throw out the match.

After the match, Kross locked in the Straightjacket Sleeper and once again, Moose and Kross joined forces to take out Johnny, but Brian Cage came out for the save.

Brian Cage and Johnny hit tandem superkicks to send Kross and Moose packing. Cage told Johnny he owed him one.

They played audio from Konna’s Keepin it 100 radio show, where Don Callis hired Glenn Gilbertti.

LAX were in some kitchen. Konnan hyped LAX for tonight’s match and tells them that tonight, win, lose, or draw, this is it.

Back from commercial, Johnny and Cage are talking backstage. Johnny thanks Cage for helping him out. Johnny tells Cage that if he wants his title shot, he won’t be able to get a clean one unless they take out Kross and Moose once and for all. Cage doesn’t want to team up with Johnny anymore, so Johnny shows him a title shot contract if Cage teams up with him one last time.

GWN Flashback Moment of the Week was Eddie Edwards defeating Tommy Dreamer at 2018’s Slammiversary XVI.

The Rascalz did their That 70’s Show round table. Trey Miguel and Wentz are arguing and agree to trade places in their following matches, making it Trey and Dezmond teaming against the Desi Hit Squad and Zachary Wentz vs Ethan Page. They were joined at the end by Gama Singh, showing them how to smoke a hookah. All the Rascalz go to sleep and Gama kept talking. This was weird, even for a Rascalz’ skit.

Reno Scum return to Impact Wrestling next week.

The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Trey Miguel) defeated Desi Hit Squad (Raj Singh & Rohit Raju) w/Gama Singh

Story is that The Rascalz are feeling the effects of the hookah they smoked with Gama, revealing that it was Gama’s plan all along to get them ready for Desi Hit Squad.

Raj and Dezmond started the match, with Raj quickly getting the upper hand on Xavier. After a few hits in, Rohit Raju got in for a big knee and a two count.

Desi Hit Squad kept control over Xavier for a while with quick tags, but every time that Xavier started a comeback, he would get cut off again since he lacked his usual speed. Eventually, he landed a kick that gave him an opening and got the tag to Trey Miguel with a slap in the face because Trey was not paying attention and Dezmond lacked focus to direct his hand.

Trey came in, running wild on Rohit Raju with some great action, he hit the Trey19 on the corner. He went for a cutter, but Raju countered and hit a Wheelbarrow DDT along with Raj for a two count when Xavier broke the pin.

Trey and Dez hit a tandem X19 and after the Meteora, Trey pinned Rohit Raju for the win. Good quick match with an interesting way to make this match up different and give the Desi Hit Squad a small chance at winning.

Melissa Santos interviewed Eli Drake about his actions from last week. Drake said that he attacked Eddie because Eddie didn’t respect him in last week’s Team AAA vs Team Impact match. He said that he wants this match to show Eddie that hardcore wrestling makes Eddie a loser. Great promo.

We saw footage from Rich Swann in the hospital being visited by Sami Callihan, who tells Rich that he has no one to come visit him other than him. He apologizes to Swann because what he did wasn’t to hurt him, but to wake Swann up. Callihan said that Rich hadn’t lived up to his potential until now. A doctor came in and told Sami Callihan that visiting time was for family only, but Swann told the lady, “he is family”. Callihan left an oVe t-shirt and left.

Eddie Edwards defeated Eli Drake

They start the match by locking in and Drake quickly takes down Eddie with a shoulder tackle. They did a couple counters and reversals, ending with a few arm drags that send Drake to the outside.

Back int ehr ring, Drake tried to tell Eddie to realize that he didn’t need weapons since he was doing great with wrestling, but Eddie didn’t listen and just proceeded to chop Drake. They went outside the ring where Eddie rammed Eli to the post. The ref came out to get Eddie back in the ring, but Eli took advantage to blindside Eddie with a clothesline and get control.

Back in the ring, Drake worked over Eddie’s mid-section, he hit a big DDT and went to follow with a diving elbow, but Eddie dodged it.

Eddie hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. Eddie hit a Tiger Driver for another two count. Eddie then went for the kendo Stick, but got distracted with the referee, giving Eli Drake the opening to hit a reverse DVD. Eli went for the kendo stick, but as he went for the swing, Eddie rolled him up and took the win. Another good short match.

Tessa Blanchard was arguing with Impact Management. She got interviewed and explained that management won’t give her a title rematch and blamed it on what she did to Gail Kim. She said that she will get her rematch one way or the other.

Glenn Gilbertti arrived at Sam’s Town Casino asking for directions for the Impact management offices, but instead, he got locked out outside the building.

Delilah Doom defeated Alisha Edwards by DQ

Delilah Doom is making her Impact Wrestling debut. She has a Richard Simmons ‘jazzercise’ gimmick. They start the match with an collar and elbow lock up, but Alisha quickly gets out and hits a plancha, as she goes for a second one, Delilah dodges and hits a 619. Delilah goes for a double on the corner, but Alisha dodges, hits a knee and a plancha that Doom rolls through for a two count.

Tessa suddenly comes out, attacks Alisha Edwards, press slams Alisha on the ramp. Tessa went for Delilah who tried to make a stand, even going for the 619, but Tessa caught her, hit deadlift sit down powerbomb and the Buzzsaw DDT. This was more of a segment than a match.

Delilah Doom cut a promo backstage. She challenged Tessa to a match for next week for what she did to her in the ring.

We got a vignette for Ace Austin.

We got a video recapping last week’s event between Impact Wrestling and the NFL Alumni Association, Las Vegas chapter.

Allie and Su Yung are in one of those dark places in the arena. Rosemary is there, but James Mitchell interrupts her. Mitchell said that Rosemary can’t touch Allie since he owns her soul. Rosemary and James Mitchell make a deal for a winner take all match between Rosemary’s army against Mitchell’s army in a Dark War. If Rosemary wins, she gets Allie’s soul back, if Mitchell wins, he gets Rosemary.

Taya Valkyrie was interviewed by Melissa Santos, who asked about Tessa’s actions. Taya said that she is done with Tessa, and she won’t even acknowledge Tessa’s tantrums, because now that she is the champion, she has bigger things to worry about.

Impact Tag Team Champions Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr & Fenix) defeated LAX (Santana & Ortiz) w/ Konnan to retain the titles.

LAX jumped the Lucha Bros at the ramp, they brawled outside the ring for a while, ramming them to the steel steps and the ring post. Ortiz hit a Tope con Giro on Pentagon. Santana was going for an Asai Moonsault, but Fenix cut him off and took him out with a kick.

Back from commercial, the match has finally started. Fenix and Ortiz were in the ring first, but Pentagon and Santana joined the superkick exchange to take out their opponents and take charge of the ring. Crowd was split in half between LAX and Cero Miedo chants. Santana and Pentagon started trading forearms in the middle of the ring. Ortiz came back and helped Santana take out Pentagon with an assisted senton and moonsault combination. LAX, then focused on Fenix, who got taken out with a Flapjack and top rope Senton for a two count.

The referee finally got control of the match as LAX started working over Fenix’s arm, cutting the ring in half on him. LAX was being really disrespectful to Pentagon and Fenix, taunting Pentagon with the Cero Miedo sign. Fenix made a small comeback and tagged in Pentagon who ran wild on LAX. Slingblade and a double superkick on Ortiz to send him out of the ring.

Pentagon hit a Penta Driver on Santana for a two count when Ortiz broke it up. Pentagon and Fenix then hit their Wassap Dropkick on Ortiz. Santana returned with a cutter on Pentagon. Ortiz hit a codebreaker, and they both hit their double team finisher for a two count when Pentagon kicked out. LAX went for the 5150, but Fenix got rid of Santana with a springboard kick. Pentagon hit the Footstomp Fear Factor on Ortiz and picked up the win.

After the match, Fenix and Pentagon celebrated in the ring. They shook Konnan’s hand. Santana and Ortiz were weary about shaking the Lucha Bros’s hands, but ended up offering their hands. Pentagon and Fenix decided to taunt them and get in their faces instead, to which LAX responded by low blowing them and taking off their masks as a surprised Konna looked on and the show went off the air.

The match was considerably shorter than their previous ones, but this was more about setting up the turn at the end and what will most likely lead to a blood feud going forward to the Rebellion PPV.

Overall, the show was fine in the ring, but we saw several angles and segments that are starting to set up the direction going towards the Rebellion PPV.

Impact Wrestling results: LAX vs. Lucha Bros Tag Team title match

Tonight’s Twitch broadcast was hosted by Josh Mathews and Don Callis, who is currently in Osaka, Japan for New Japan Pro Wrestling. After the show, Jake & Dave Crist joined the feed for a Q&A.

Impact Wrestling returned from Fronton Mexico in Mexico City this week with a huge main event as LAX defended their Tag Team titles against the Lucha Bros (Pentagon & Fenix).

This was also the go-home show for next week’s “Uncaged” episode of Impact, which will feature Johnny Impact defending his World title against Brian Cage, Moose, and Killer Kross in a four-way match, Taya Valkyrie vs. Tessa Blanchard in a street fight for the Knockouts Championship, and Team AAA vs. Team Impact in a World Cup elimination match.

Rich Swann & Willie Mack defeated oVe (Jake & Dave Crist)

oVe jumped Swann and Mack to start the match, going after Swann. He managed to escape and tag in Mack, who was in a better position to take on the initial flurry of offense. Mack came in, threw both men out, and hit a tope con giro. Swann then followed with a tornillo, but Jake recovered and hit a tope suicida into a tornado DDT on Swann before he could make it back in the ring.

On the other side of the ring, Dave took out Mack with a superkick.

Back in the ring, Dave worked over Mack’s head with a modified STF and a series of double-team moves, mostly taking turns kicking Mack and making a lot of quick tags. Jake got a two count with a Northern Lights suplex.

After some more punishment, Mack dodged some offense, but he and Jake collided in the middle of the ring with a pair of crossbodies. That was enough to give Mack the opening to tag Swann in.

Swann came in strong, hitting a few kicks on Dave and a standing Frankensteiner and frog splash on Jake. oVe cut Swann off the top rope and hit a spike piledriver, but Mack broke up the pin attempt.

Mack hit a double stunner on both Crist brothers, followed by a double Lethal injection. Swann then hit a second rope 450 on Dave for the win. The match started somewhat chaotic, but it got a lot better towards the end.

Pentagon Jr. & Fenix cut a promo where they said that tonight, they will win the Tag Team titles. Fenix said they’re wrestling in front of their family and their people — and so tonight, they’re going all out. Pentagon talked about Konnan saying that he wanted the titles to be in the family, but after tonight, they’ll be on their side of the family.

Mathews and Callis announced that next week, for Uncaged, Johnny Impact defends his World Championship against Brian Cage, Moose, and Killer Kross.

The Flashback Moment of the Week, voted by the Twitch viewers, was Pentagon Jr. defeating Austin Aries and Fenix to win the Impact World title at Redemption.

Impact Wrestling and the NFL Alumni association’s Las Vegas chapter announced a partnership. They will be doing community outreach and programs of the sort.

Kiera Hogan (w/ Jordynne Grace) defeated Dark Allie (w/ Su Yung)

Hogan started the match at 60 mph, attacking Allie at the bell. Hogan hit her running kick and forearm combo for a quick pin attempt. She then hit a bulldog for a two count.

Allie finally managed to stop Hogan with a running clothesline and get some time to compose herself. She hit a sliding forearm for a two count and started working over Hogan’s back. Allie went for the codebreaker, but Hogan countered with a kick and got a two count. Allie hit a backstabber for another near fall. Hogan hit a reverse X-Factor for a 10 count tease.

Outside the ring, we saw Yung leave her glove in the ring, setting it up for Allie to grab. Grace saw that and took out Yung, but as Allie realized that Yung wasn’t there, she assumed that Rosemary had replaced Yung once again.

Thanks to the distraction, Hogan hit a Cross Rhodes-like move for the win. Not much of a match, it was short and almost felt like a segment.

Johnny Impact was interviewed backstage about having to defend his title against Cage, Moose, and Kross next week. Johnny was irate that he had to find out during an interview in the middle of a hall. Cage came out and looked annoyed that he had to share his title shot with more people.

We got the announcement of the main event for Impact’s United We Stand show, which will be the Lucha Bros taking on RVD & Sabu in an “extreme dream match.” United We Stand is a show co-promoted with WrestlePro that’s taking place in Rahway, New Jersey on the Thursday of WrestleMania week.

Backstage, we saw Allie and Yung looking for Rosemary in some corner of the building. Suddenly, a message appeared that read “The witching is upon us…don’t say we didn’t warn you,” signed Rosemary.

Trey Miguel (w/ The Rascalz) defeated Rohit Raju (w/ Gama Singh and Raj Singh)

Pretty good match. It started with both doing a series of counters and reversals, with Raju actually getting some upper hand early on but later getting outwrestled by Miguel.

Miguel hit a springboard dropkick, sending Raju to the outside, but he couldn’t follow with a dive. Raju hit a big DDT on the apron and finally had control of the match. He distracted the referee at points, allowing Raj to get some cheap shots outside the ring. Meanwhile, inside the ring, Raju worked over Miguel’s upper body.

As they started trading counters again, Miguel hit a standing foot stomp on the back of Raju’s head to finally level out the match. They got into a strike-off where Raju tried to give Miguel an eye poke but failed. Miguel hit the corner Trey-1-9 and a neckbreaker for a two count. Raju hit a gordbuster for two. Raju got another near fall after a running knee to the back of Miguel’s head.

Raj tried to interfere again, but Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz stopped him and scared Gama away. Back in the ring, Trey hit X19 and the meteora for the win.

We had a Team AAA showcase featuring Psycho Clown, Hijo del Vikingo, Puma King, and Aerostar, who will be fighting for the World Cup next week against Team Impact Wrestling.

Scarlett Bordeaux announced that she is making her in-ring debut at the Vegas tapings.

Sami Callihan defeated Puma King

Another great match, definitely worth a watch. Callihan started by jumping Puma King during his entrance, but he wasn’t able to follow up as Puma King composed himself quickly and hit a suplex to get some time.

Puma King responded with a tope con giro. They started brawling outside the ring, with Puma King kicking Callihan all over until Callihan hid behind the ref and poked Puma King’s eyes, getting an opening to hit a tornado DDT for the countout tease.

Back in the ring, Callihan hit a sit-down powerbomb for a one count. He worked over Puma King’s foot and went after his mask. Callihan started chopping him but kept getting distracted playing to the fans, giving Puma King more and more time to recover.

Callihan went for a foot stomp, but Puma King turned it into a Frankensteiner from the tree-of-woe position and followed with a dropkick to make a comeback.

Back from commercial, Callihan had regained control. As we saw the recap from during the commercial, Puma King took a bad spill outside, hurting his already worked on foot. Puma King still tried to make a comeback as they got into a striking battle, ending with both men down for a double knockout tease.

Puma King hit a variation of the Blue Thunder Bomb for a two count. He followed with a series of strikes, but Callihan countered with a huge lariat for a two count. Callihan started to chase the piledriver, but Puma King escaped and went for La Magistral. Callihan reached the ropes to break the pin.

Puma King went for a springboard kick, but Callihan caught him with a kick. They traded roll-ups, but it ended with Callihan rolling Puma King all the way into a piledriver for the win. Puma King was really over in this match.

We got a Taya Valkyrie vs. Tessa Blanchard hype video for next week’s street fight for the Knockouts Championship. Good stuff.

Backstage, Eddie Edwards and Eli Drake met. Drake told Edwards that they were able to win last week without having to rely on weapons and hardcore shtick. Drake told him that next week, they can win the World Cup match. Edwards told Drake to let him do his thing and not get in his way. Drake once again asked Edwards to bring the Wolf Eddie Edwards back.

Melissa Santos interviewed Moose and Killer Kross, who said they have the numbers advantage in next week’s main event. Moose made some NFL analogies that seemed to annoy Kross, showing some dissension going into the title match.

Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix) defeated LAX (Santana & Ortiz) w/ Konnan to win the Impact Tag Team titles

Great back-and-forth match — they went all out bell to bell. I saw this match live and can say that it looked a lot better during this broadcast. The Lucha Bros, as expected, were really over with the crowd in Mexico City. They had a big-match entrance with Chinese Dragon dancers — just in time for Chinese New Year.

The match was full of action at the start. Pentagon went for the Fear Factor, but LAX took him out and countered with an assisted moonsault that Pentagon countered himself with a superkick on Santana while he was in the middle of the air.

Santana took out Fenix, Pentagon took out Ortiz, and the two survivors went face-to-face and went at it. Fenix came back, took out Santana, and went at it with Ortiz in a striking match.

That was followed by Pentagon and Ortiz striking each other until Santana came out of nowhere with a plancha and Fenix hit a double dropkick as they all finally found themselves down. Great start to the match!

Back from commercial, Ortiz and Fenix were the legal men going at it and order had been restored. Fenix hit an uppercut and a foot stomp to the back of Ortiz’s head for a near fall. Ortiz returned with a huge spinebuster to stop Fenix’s momentum.

Pentagon and Santana tagged in and got into a knife chop battle that turned into superkicks and a huge uranage from Santana for a near fall. Pentagon caught Santana and hit a Pentagon Driver that Santana kicked out of for a big two count.

The match once again broke down to tornado style. Santana got a huge near fall with the same move that LAX won with at Homecoming, but Fenix kicked out at two. LAX hit the Street Sweeper, but Pentagon managed to break the pin at the last second.

Pentagon took out Ortiz with a slingblade. Fenix hit a big time kick on Santana and set up the spike Fear Factor, but Santana kicked out! Pentagon went for the Fear Factor again, but Santana kicked out once again. Pentagon finally hit a superkick and Fenix hit a reverse rana and a second spike Fear Factor to win the titles. That got a huge pop.

After the match, LAX congratulated the Lucha Bros. They went face-to-face before giving up the ring for the Lucha Bros to continue their celebration. Ortiz cried as he walked to the back. Pentagon and Fenix posed with the titles to close the show.

Overall, this was a really good episode of Impact. Three of the five matches were great, with a main event that is worth going out of your way to check out. There wasn’t a lot of storyline development as most things for next week’s Uncaged episode had pretty much already been set up, but the three big matches were all hyped throughout the night.

Impact Wrestling results: LAX vs. oVe, Brian Cage vs. Moose

The opening video touched upon Killer Kross’ actions at the end of Homecoming, injuring Taya Valkyrie, and Johnny Impact’s reaction from last week’s episode. It also focused on the escalating situation between Rich Swann and Sami Callihan, the cryptic hauntings of Rosemary over Allie and Su Yung, and the current state of the long-awaited reveal of Scarlett Bordeaux’s talent search.

KM (w/ Fallah Bahh) vs. Caleb Konley ended in a no contest

Konley got some control early on when he jumped KM during his entrance. KM was making a comeback when the camera suddenly cut to Brian Cage walking around backstage pushing people and asking for Johnny Impact’s location.

It wasn’t really clear if there was an actual finish since I heard the ring bell go off when Cage was still backstage, but that could have been recorded during a different match, so when Cage attacked KM first, the referee once again called for the bell.

Cage took out KM and Konley. He powerbombed Bahh and hit an F5 on KM. At the end, he turned his attention to referee Johnny Bravo, hitting a big lariat and the Drill Claw. Cage said that all his carnage is on Impact’s hands since Johnny had offered him the next title shot, and now Killer Kross has skipped the line and is getting a shot next week.

Johnny came out to confront Cage, but he was quickly attacked from behind by Kross and Moose. Cage watched from the ring, but he later went down and dragged Johnny to the ring, where he tossed him and was going for an F5, except Kross and Moose were not done and attacked both men, laying them out.

Back from commercial, Cage cut a promo challenging Moose to a match for getting involved in his business.

Josh Mathews and Don Callis were running down the card when Eli Drake came down to the ring for commentary.

Ethan Page defeated Eddie Edwards by DQ

The match was back and forth, but not all that exciting. Edwards initially went around the ring chopping Page — until Page managed to catch Edwards and ram him into the guardrail to get control of the match.

Back from commercial, Edwards made a small comeback, hitting a Frankensteiner on Page and chopping him. Edwards hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a two count. Page hit a brainbuster for a near fall. Edwards landed a tope suicida and finally went for Kenny the kendo stick, hitting Page and getting himself disqualified.

Throughout the match, Drake talked about how Edwards doesn’t need to use hardcore moves since he used to have all the tools to be a great wrestler. After the match, Drake cut a promo on Edwards. Drake told Edwards that he used to be champion material and now he is running around getting himself disqualified.

Drake challenged Edwards to bring back the American Wolf. A heel promo, but I can’t help but agree with Drake here.

The GWN Flashback Moment of the Week was a six-man cage match with Abyss, Kevin Northcutt & Legend defeating The Gathering in 2003 when CM Punk and Julio DiNero turned on Raven, giving Abyss the win.

oVe cut a video promo. Sami Callihan told Rich Swann that it’s time to come home. He then turned his attention to Jake and Dave Crist’s opponents for tonight’s main event — LAX. Callihan said that tonight, the only family that walks out is oVe.

The Rascalz did their roundtable comedy skit. They talked about Trey Miguel losing at Homecoming and Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz losing against the Lucha Brothers. They hyped each other up to make a comeback.

Jordynne Grace (w/ Kiera Hogan) defeated Dark Allie (w/ Su Yung)

The start of the match was interrupted by the light fixtures malfunctioning, hinting at Rosemary’s presence. This was a short match that saw Allie get control over Grace early, thanks to distractions from Yung.

Grace would power herself into comebacks, but on several occasions, Allie resorted to some cheap shots to keep control of the match. At the end, Grace simply blocked Allie and hit a pumphandle driver for the win. The match wasn’t much, but it kept Grace looking like someone that can take you out if she gets her hands on you.

After Hogan and Grace had walked to the back, the lights went off and on, replacing Yung with Rosemary. Rosemary offered her hand to Allie, who ran away again.

Back from commercial, Scarlett Bordeaux was backstage announcing the winner of the Smoke Show Talent Search — herself. She put herself over by saying that she is the most over woman in the Knockouts division and hasn’t even stepped inside the ring. She said that her in-ring debut is coming. Kinda underwhelming, but realistically, there isn’t anyone that deserves her managerial services or wouldn’t get overshadowed by her.

Impact Wrestling is returning to Las Vegas for a new set of tapings on February 15, 16, and 17.

Brian Cage defeated Moose

Cage started the match going after Moose and wasn’t even stopped by a rake of the eyes. Moose tried to run away instead, but Cage brought him back to the ring the bad way.

Moose and Cage brawled outside the ring for a bit. They whipped each other onto the ring post. Moose at one point hurt his hand, chopping said ring post. Cage blocked a running kick and turned it into an apron bomb.

Back in the ring, Moose went after Cage’s left leg, working on it for a while, and at one point going for a countout win. Cage managed to make it to the ring.

Cage started to make a comeback when Moose decided he wanted to get into a striking match, only for Moose to hit a dragon screw out of nowhere to regain control. Moose hit a pop-up powerbomb and a senton, which finally fired up Cage enough to make a proper comeback and hit a pop-up powerbomb of his own, followed by a buckle bomb and a discus clothesline for a close two count.

Moose hit a dropkick and Go to Hell, but he only got a two count. Out of desperation, Moose went for a chair shot, but Cage dodged, hit the Drill Claw, and picked up the win.

We got a phone call between Josh Mathews and Taya Valkyrie, who informed us that she is still recovering and won’t be cleared until next week. Valkyrie addressed Tessa Blanchard saying that Valkyrie won the championship thanks to Gail Kim, saying that Blanchard bullied a lot of referees and finally got what was coming to her. She said that next week, she will be in Mexico City and ready to defend the title against Blanchard.

Killer Kross cut a promo, pushing Johnny Impact’s buttons as he brought up what he did to Valkyrie and the fans wanting Johnny to lose to Cage or himself. Kross said that next week, he wins the Impact World Championship.

Blanchard was interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell. She shouted at Mitchell and blamed Gail Kim for her loss. Suddenly, Blanchard started attacking some of the crew until Kim came to stop her, getting into a brawl. Blanchard choked Kim with some cables until the Impact officials stopped them.

Back from commercial, Sonjay Dutt and D’Amore were arguing with Blanchard about putting her hands on officials and suspending her. Blanchard stormed off.

X Division Champion Rich Swann defeated Trey Miguel in a non-title match

Great back-and-forth, short match. It started with both hitting a series of reversals and counters, and there were several arm drags by each until reaching a stand-off. They traded dive attempts until Miguel connected with a tope suicida and finally got the upper hand.

Back in the ring, Swann and Miguel traded slaps and kicks before Swann hit a standing Frankensteiner and a frog splash for a two count. Miguel answered with a heel kick and cutter combo for a two count for himself. Miguel went for the corner 619, but Swann countered. There were several rolling pin attempts and reversals, but at the end, it was Swann hitting a second rope 450 for the win.

After the match, oVe came out. Callihan once again offered Swann the oVe shirt, and once again, Swann didn’t join the team. Before he could answer, LAX came out for the main event.

Impact Tag Team Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz) w/ Konnan defeated oVe (Jake & Dave Crist) w/ Sami Callihan in a non-title match

This started with both teams brawling outside the ring, with oVe working over Ortiz, as Santana had been taken out during the commercial. oVe worked with many quick tags and hit several double-team moves on Ortiz, getting a couple of two counts in the process.

Ortiz finally cut Dave Crist off on a spot, dropping him over the ropes and getting a quick opening to tag Santana. Ortiz and Santana got a couple of tag moves in and double tope suicidas on both Crist brothers.

All four men got in the ring, with oVe hitting a superplex and powerbomb combo for a great near fall. LAX responded with a cutter and codebreaker combo on Jake Crist, followed with a double inverted suplex for the win.

The Lucha Brothers congratulated LAX backstage, telling them it was a good match, to which Ortiz casually offered Pentagon & Fenix another “ass whooping.” Konnan shouted at Ortiz as Impact went off the air.

Overall, a good show for story development since we’re seeing a lot of rivalries start to escalate to a whole new level. Inside the ring, the show started off somewhat slow, but it managed to close with two good matches.

Next week, Impact returns to Mexico City’s Fronton Mexico. Johnny Impact defends the Impact World title against Killer Kross, and Taya Valkyrie makes her return.

LAX pulled from EVOLVE’s December shows

While Impact Tag Team Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz) had been announced for EVOLVE’s December shows, they’re now off the events.

Gabe Sapolsky announced on Twitter this afternoon that Impact Wrestling has pulled LAX from EVOLVE 117 and EVOLVE 118: “Impact Wrestling has pulled LAX off the 12/15 & 16 dates. Working on replacements now. I was just informed. Our apologies to the fans.”

LAX had been scheduled to face NXT’s Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) in some form on both events. The Street Profits defending their EVOLVE Tag Team titles against LAX and AR Fox & Leon Ruff in a triple threat match had been announced for EVOLVE 117 in Queens, New York on December 15, and LAX & Austin Theory teaming against The Street Profits & Darby Allin in a six-man tag match was announced for EVOLVE 118 in Deer Park, New York on December 16.

Here are the matches that have been confirmed for EVOLVE 117 and EVOLVE 118 thus far:

EVOLVE 117 —

  • Kassius Ohno vs. Darby Allin
  • EVOLVE Champion Fabian Aichner defending against Austin Theory

Evolve 118 —

  • Kassius Ohno vs. Anthony Henry

LAX announced for EVOLVE’s December shows

Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz) are set to debut for EVOLVE Wrestling in December.

EVOLVE has announced LAX for EVOLVE 117 in Queens, New York on December 15 and EVOLVE 118 in Deer Park, New York on December 16. Their announcement teased that LAX are “on a collision course with EVOLVE Tag Team Champions, The Street Profits, of Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins” and that match announcements for them will be made early next week.

As part of EVOLVE’s relationship with WWE/NXT, The Street Profits debuted for EVOLVE and won the promotion’s Tag Team titles from Chris Dickinson & Jaka on October 28. They also defended their titles on EVOLVE’s November shows.

Kassius Ohno will be wrestling at EVOLVE 117 and 118 and will be facing Darby Allin in Queens. EVOLVE Champion Fabian Aichner, who won the title from Shane Strickland on October 28, is set for the December shows as well.

Impact Wrestling results: LAX vs. OGz street fight, Fenix vs. Callihan

Fenix defeated Sami Callihan (w/ Jake and Dave Crist)

They saved the best for first on this week’s show. Fenix lived up to his namesake in this match, hitting a series of high-flying aerial moves that had the crowd on their feet. Both guys worked hard.

The crowd at times chanted “Ohio sucks” at Callihan and the Crist brothers and “This is awesome” after Fenix’s aerial moves.

Fenix hit several impressive aerial moves, including a springboard cutter from on the outside, laying out Callihan on the ramp. He landed a hurricanrana. Callihan also worked his part of the match strong. He plays a great heel — and although he overacts at times, shows good ring psychology.

The Crist brothers tried to interfere, but Pentagon Jr. came out to help his brother, allowing Fenix to hit a spinning Muscle Buster suplex on Callihan for the win, in the show’s highlight.

They showed a long series of vignettes featuring the LAX vs. OGz street fight later in the show and then an advertisement for Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise.

The TNA flashback match this week from 2009 was Team 3D vs. Beer Money Inc. vs. The Main Event Mafia vs. The British Invasion.

Then, in an interview segment, Allie said she was going to defeat Su Yung later in the show for Madison Rayne and Rosemary.

“This is for my soul,” Allie said.

Johnny Impact defeated Jimmy Jacobs by DQ

Don Callis reminded everyone that Jacobs used to be a very good wrestler. Kongo Kong attacked Impact from behind before the match started as Impact was walking to the ring. Kong kicked him in the face and threw him into the ring. Jacobs tried to cover him for the pin, but Impact kicked out.

Kong then ran in and hit Impact, forcing a disqualification. Kong tried to powerbomb Impact, but he slipped out, countering with a DDT on the stage. Impact then hit Jacobs with the steel steps, knocking him out on the stage and leaving his head dangling on the bottom rope.

Scarlett Bordeaux’s “Smokeshow” debuted, and it wasn’t pretty.

Apparently, both Fallah Bahh and KM thought they would be guests on her show and they ran into each other in the hall. They were both carrying wine. Bordeaux ended up interviewing both of them, where KM said he was frustrated with Bahh because he couldn’t control him.

Bordeaux told him to consider a different way and pretended like she was going to kiss him, but then pulled back. KM, in a trance, walked off the set and then Bordeaux slapped Bahh.

Weird segment.

Impact World Champion Austin Aries introduced Killer Kross as his new insurance policy.

Eddie Edwards then came out and hit Aries with a kendo stick. Kross held Edwards down and choked him out. Aries put his foot on Edwards and posed with the belt.

Eli Drake (w/ Caleb Konley and Trevor Lee) defeated Joe Hendry (Grado and Katarina)

Katarina and Hendry are clearly attracted to each other and Grado keeps doing dumb things to push his girlfriend towards Hendry, in this neverending storyline.

Grado messed up again this week, jumping on the apron while Hendry had the upper hand, distracting Hendry. Drake then rolled up Hendry for the pin.

After the match, Grado, Hendry, and Katarina all argued in the ring before Hendry walked out and Katarina followed him.

They showed Matt Sydal meditating on the beach, and a graphic revealed his third eye.

Allie defeated Knockouts Champion Su Yung by DQ in a non-title match

Yung and her undead bridesmaids have a great ring presence. Allie beat up on Yung for most of the match, firing up the crowd, but Tessa Blanchard ran in the ring and hammered on Allie to cause the disqualification. Initially it looked like a double-team, but Yung applied the mandible claw on Blanchard. Allie made the save, hitting a codebreaker on Yung. This seemed to set up a Blanchard vs. Yung match.

They advertised a Sami Callihan vs. Pentagon Jr. Mexican Death Match for next week with the Crist Brothers banned from ringside.

LAX (w/ Konnan) defeated The OGz (w/ King) in a street fight

This was hard to follow, with no commentary for a match that took place in a parking lot. A few weeks ago, The OGz stole LAX’s title belts from ringside without winning them.

LAX took the titles that already belonged to them back after they beat The OGz down in the parking lot. King then went to Konnan and screamed “this isn’t over.” He told Konnan that he was old and needed to be put down, then begged LAX to take Konnan out and side with the new blood. After they refused, King said “I spit on your soul. I spit on your family” to Konnan.

King got on one knee and begged Konnan to hit him, suggesting he was too scared to do it.

Konnan then seemed to hit him in the head, but the show ended, leaving the audience guessing.

Young Bucks vs. LAX set for Chris Jericho’s cruise

A new match has been signed for Chris Jericho’s upcoming cruise in October.

Jericho made it official this afternoon on Twitter that the Young Bucks, representing Ring of Honor, would take on LAX during his Rock n Wrestling Rager cruise. Konnan initially issued a challenge to the Bucks recently on his podcast. It will be part of a larger interpromotional event featuring talent from both Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor.

Other matches set for the cruise include another ROH/Impact battle with Marty Scurll (ROH) taking on Sami Callihan (Impact). Along with a Sea of Honor tournament featuring Ring of Honor talent there will also be what is being billed as Alpha Club vs. Bullet Club bout as Chris Jericho will team with the Young Bucks to take on Kenny Omega, Marty Scurll and Cody. None of the matches will be streamed anywhere, according to Jericho.

Tickets for Jericho’s cruise, which runs from October 27-31, are still available here. The cruise will depart from Miami and head to Nassau in the Bahamas.

Impact Wrestling results: Fenix and Rich Swann tear down the house

Some surprises and a good match spotlighted this week’s Impact. The show built strong leading into Slammiversary on July 22.

Fenix defeated Rich Swann

The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann and Fenix conjured up memories of the famed first Ricochet vs. Will Ospreay match.

These two light heavyweights were in sync with an array of aerial moves better than most 205 Live matches. Swann, wrestling for the second time on Impact, made his entrance a la No Way Jose, dancing and getting the crowd into the match.

This was full of dynamic aerial moves. Fenix walked the tightrope on the top rope and then bounced three times before flipping Swann into an arm drag early in the match. He hit a standing dropkick that sent Swann crashing outside of the ring. Swann hit a moonsault off the apron, but Fenix caught him. Fenix then tried the same move but missed and landed on his feet — only to receive a well-executed corkscrew splash from Swann off the top rope.

Fenix got up and hit his own divingsplash over the top that he turned into a modified slingblade

Fenix performed a moonsault inside, but instead of landing with a body splash, he landed on his feet and rolled the move into a diamond cutter. He tried it again, but Swann countered with a handstand instead of landing face first.

The two rested from the high-flying moves for awhile, trading chops like they were Steamboat and Ric Flair in Nashville.

The match was an aerial move clinic, with hurricanranas followed by moonsaults and several near falls. Although Swann’s facial expressions after Fenix’s power moves bordered on over-acting, this was as good as any of his WWE matches. At one point, Swann kicked out of a tombstone piledriver into a pin. Fenix got the win after executing a perfect spinning Muscle Buster.

“This is the way you start a wrestling show, ladies and gentleman” Josh Mathews said.

The Crist brothers then quickly attacked Fenix after the match, leading to Pentagon Jr. making the save — or so we thought. It turned out that it was Sami Callihan under the mask. Swann tried to help Fenix, but Callihan spit into Swann’s face. He was about to take Fenix’s mask off, when the real Pentagon Jr. made the save, getting the crowd to chant “Pentagon.”

There was a brief interview segment with Madison Rayne and the returning Allie, who vowed to seek revenge on Su Yung, who locked her in a casket to win the Knockouts Championship.

“Su you think that you killed me. No, you just brought another side of me to life,” Allie said.

Killer Kross defeated Fallah Bahh (w/ KM)

The 425-pound Bahh is one of those wrestlers you can’t take your eyes off because of his girth and size, but he was no match for the debuting Killer Kross. Commentator Matthews declared, “This man is psychotic!”

The two behemoths ran into each other to start the match, but then Kross backed Bahh into the corner and started pounding on him. Bahh reversed it, then delivered several stiff chops that turned Kross’ chest read. Kross dared Bahh to hit him as hard as he could. Mathews said it was “shades ofKenta Kobashi with the rapid-fire chops.”

Kross hit an impressive side suplex on the meaty Bahh and then choked him out with what Don Callis called “an MMA-style choke.” Kross continued to pound Bahh with right hands to his back after the match, prompting KM to make the save. Kross choked him out too.

Finally, Petey Williams rushed the ring with a steel chair; he hit Kross on the back with the chair and eventually threw it into Kross’ face, knocking him out of the ring. Kross then walked backed to the dressing room.

Flashback Moment: Rob Van Dam defeated Sting

Sting wrestled in his shirt in this 2010 match. This was all of RVD’s signature moves on display, with Taz and Mike Tenay on commentary. After RVD accidentally took out Earl Hebner, Jeff Jarrett came to the ring and hit Sting with his own baseball bat, allowing RVD to execute a five-star frog splash for the win.

Allie & Madison Rayne defeated Su Yung & her Undead Maid of Honor

Su Yung, wearing a bloodied wedding dress, has a great gimmick, although her Undead Bridesmaids should probably stay out of the ring. The Undead Maid of Honor wrestled stiff and slow and no-sold most of the moves. She essentially wrestled like a zombie.

Allie and Rayne mostly had their way with the Undead Bridesmaid. Rayne accidentally took out the referee executing a Cross Rayne. Tessa Blanchard, who Rayne defeated on last week’s episode, interfered, but Allied jumped in and took care of Blanchard, allowing Rayne to hit the Cross Rayne on the Undead Maid of Honor for the pinfall victory.

Next was an interview segment with LAX and the Desi Hit Squad, who are training under the verbal and physical commands of Gama Singh.

Then, in one of the highlight’s of the show, we got a video package from Impact World Champion Austin Aries. Aries will defend the title against former NFL player Quinn “Moose” Ojinnaka at Slammiversary.

Aries was great here, saying “This wasn’t my dream. This is what I was born to do.” Aries said he started wrestling when he was 17 and that wrestling was always his first choice, unlike Moose, who he said chose wrestling after his NFL career failed. The video package showed a variety of pictures of a younger Aries with longer hair.

Aries snuck in a great line and shot at his former WWE employer Vince McMahon. “After I beat you, your new dream is to hope the XFL needs a new offensive lineman.”

Advertised for next week was former NFL player DeAngelo Williams, who will apparently help train Moose for his match with Aries.

Tommy Dreamer cut a taped promo with blood all over his face vowing revenge on Eddie Edwards, who attacked him a week ago with a kendo stick. The two will meet at Slammiversary.

Katarina (w/ Grado) defeated Rebel

This was a quick match with Katarina winning with a backbreaker onto her knee.

Brian Cage defeated Kongo Kong

Cage was impressive in this match, executing several high-flying moves.

The 265-pound Cage hit a somersault plancha over the top rope and Callis said, “I have seen Kenny Omega do that dive but he’s not 265 pounds.” Cage hit a 619 on Kong, landed a belly to back suplex, hit a superplex, and then pinned Kong with an F-5. It was an impressive outing for Cage, who showed he was capable of power and aerial moves, which was not an easy feat on the giant Kong.

The show ended with an LAX segment. Konnan came out wearing a Mexican flag around his neck. He called out King, whom he suspects “put a hit” on him at the Redemption pay-per-view. Konnan said that King betrayed him after he helped the wrestler earn his first $100,000.

The rest of LAX, Santana and Ortiz, came out with King, who eventually admitted that he was behind the Konnan attack because LAX needed a new leader. Konnan called King “a walking, talking glory hole,” leading the crowd into a “glory hole” chant.

“I’m the future, you’re the past,” King told Konnan.

After that comment, Ortiz and Santana flipped King off, but then original LAX members Homicide and Hernandez entered the ring and attacked Konnan, Santana, and Ortiz, setting up a six-man feud between rival LAX members.

Impact Wrestling results: Tag Team title change

A title change highlighted this week’s edition of Impact.

The show opened with a recap of last week’s episode and Moose’s victory over Eli Drake to earn him an Impact Championship title shot against Austin Aries at Slammiversary.

LAX defeated Z&E to win the Impact Tag Team titles

In the show’s opener, LAX attacked DJ Z and Andrew Everett as they were making their entrance to the ring. LAX beat on Z&E outside the ring for the first few minutes of the match. Z&E hit several of their high-spot flying moves, while LAX executed quick tags and double-team moves.

Z&E hit a combination of moonsaults on LAX’s Santana, but eventually Everett missed a 450 splash, allowing LAX’s Ortiz to hit the street sweeper for the victory and title change.

Scott Steiner defeated KM

KM showed good microphone presence, cutting a promo on Fallah Bahh. KM said he was bigger than Impact \Wrestling and that they need to rename the company “KM Impact Wrestling.”

KM asked Bahh to come to the ring. He obliged, but instead of fighting him, handed him a note that was hidden in his pants. KM read the note and out came Scott Steiner. The Big Bad Booty Daddy, wearing a shirt, beat up on KM, hitting an overhead belly-to-belly suplex and then throwing KM into the ropes.

Announcer Josh Mathews said KM was training with American Top Team. Steiner won with the Steiner Recliner in a short match. He then high-fived the fans at ringside, who gave the “Too Sweet” gesture to the former nWo member.

Next up was a Slammiversary press conference to promote the Aries vs. Moose match. Moose said it was his 15-year dream to fight for the championship after his football career, but Aries said “This isn’t my second career after I failed my first.”

Madison Rayne defeated Taya Valkyrie

This was a good match with Valkyrie dominating most of the offense, getting near fall after near fall against Rayne. Su Yung was watching the match from the rafters. Rayne rallied, hitting a tornado DDT off the top rope and a diamond cutter. Valkyrie worked stiff, applying a bow-and-arrow and then kicking Rayne in the back.

Rayne eventually kicked Valkyrie and then hit the Cross Rayne, which resembles a reverse swinging neckbreaker, for the win.

Rayne took the microphone and said “It is always exciting to come back home to the Impact Zone.” When she returned earlier this year she said she didn’t intend to be an in-ring performer, but now she intends to win the Knockouts Championship for the sixth time. “I am going to slay the undead bride and become champion,” Rayne said.

Rayne will challenge for Yung’s title at Slammiversary.

Konnan returned to argue with new LAX manager King. Konnan implied that he couldn’t trust King, while King said if he had a problem with him, he should state it. Commentator Don Callis tried to explain the rift by saying “there can only be one OG. I know because I am from the streets.”

Flashback Moment of the Week: Sonjay Dutt defeated Low Ki to win the X Division Championship

The company used this excellent match from June 2017 to promote its streaming service. Both guys put on an impressive aerial display. Dutt won the match, in India, to claim the X Division Championship.

El Hijo del Fantasma & Pentagon Jr. defeated oVe (Dave & Jake Crist)

They had a slow-paced methodical match that was highlighted by a crazed Sami Callihan freaking out after it was over and attacking the stars from Lucha Underground. Callihan has become more and more unstable in recent weeks and snapped after the match. Callis said Callihan was calling the shots, “like a demented Bill Belichick on the sidelines.”

Jake attempted to dropkick Pentagon Jr., but he moved, forcing Jake to hit his brother. Pentagon Jr. then belly-to-belly suplexed Jake into Dave in the corner. He hit a superkick on Jake, then a pump-handle slam for the victory.

Callihan then ran in and attacked Pentagon Jr. He hit Fantasma with a baseball bat. The Crist brothers triple-teamed Pentagon Jr. and attempted to remove his mask, but Fantasma broke it by swinging a steal chair at the trio.

Impact Wrestling results: OVE vs. LAX in Barbed Wire Massacre III

Previously: Bobby Lashley & KM defeated Moose & Eddie Edwards.

Tonight: Impact World Champion Eli Drake defends against Johnny Impact and Alberto El Patron in a triple threat match. After Impact, OVE battles LAX in the ultra-violent Barbed Wire Massacre III on Twitch.

Show Recap —

X Division Champion Taiji Ishimori defeated Dezmond Xavier to retain his title

Ishimori had the early advantage and frustrated Xavier, but Xavier gained control and slowed the pace down. He hit an awesome flip dive over the top rope and guardrail onto Ishimori in the crowd.

Xavier hit the Final Flash for a very close near fall. Xavier countered the double knees into a standing corkscrew moonsault for a two count. Ishimori caught Xavier and hit the double knees, followed by a 450 splash to retain the title.

Flashback Moment of the Week: Aron Rex defeated Eddie Edwards in the Grand Championship final at Bound for Glory 2016

The judges awarded the first round to Edwards, then Rex won the second round. Rex had the advantage early in round three but Edwards made a comeback. They traded shots as the round came to an end. Rex won the third round by decision to win the championship.

Kongo Kong (w/ Jimmy Jacobs) defeated Chandler Park (w/ Joseph Park)

Park had a brief flurry of offense until Kong took over and won the match easily. After the match, Kong splashed Park from the top turnbuckle while Joseph Park could only watch.

Impact World Champion Eli Drake vs. Johnny Impact vs. Alberto El Patron ended in a no contest (from BCW in Detroit, Michigan)

El Patron and Drake briefly worked together to take Impact out before turning against each other. Impact brought in a chair and destroyed both opponents. On three separate occasions, whenever one of the guys had the match won, the third guy pulled the referee out of the ring. The ref got upset and challenged all three to fight — and they nailed him with simultaneous superkicks.

Drake scored a close near fall but was upset it wasn’t three. He gave the second referee the Gravy Train. The locker room eventually all ran out and a huge brawl broke out.

Rosemary defeated KC Spinelli

Rosemary was in control early but couldn’t put Spinelli away. She teased spitting the mist and Spinelli covered up, which allowed Rosemary to hit the Red Wedding for the win.

After the match, Rosemary promised to defeat either Allie or Laurel Van Ness for the title. Hania made her Impact debut by jumping Rosemary and viciously beating her down.

LAX (Ortiz, Santana & Homicide) defeated OVE (Sami Callihan, Jake & Dave Crist) in Barbed Wire Massacre III

The ropes were taken down and replaced with barbwire. Santana hit a dive over the barbwire onto OVE on the floor. Both Callihan and Homicide pulled out forks and had a brief struggle. Jake became entangled in the barbwire and Homicide jammed the fork in Jake’s ear.

Jake and Callihan destroyed Homicide with violent chair shots. Homicide poured alcohol on Dave, but Callihan drank it and spit it in Homicide’s eyes. Callihan picked up Homicide for a suplex but instead dropped him on the barbwire. LAX wrapped Jake up in barbwire and Ortiz gave him a running Death Valley Driver into a barbwire board. Jake speared Ortiz through a table at ringside.

Callihan got a near fall with a tombstone piledriver on a barbwire chair. Konnan took Callihan out of the match with a barbwire baseball bat, then Dave and Santana fought on the top of a ladder. Santana drove a bunch of wooden skewers into Dave’s head. Santana then executed a superplex off the top of the ladder through a table for the win.

Next Week: Impact presents a loaded card for Genesis. The lineup features:

  • Impact World Champion Eli Drake defending against Johnny Impact and Alberto El Patron in a triple threat steel cage match
  • Grand Champion Ethan Carter III defending against Matt Sydal
  • Knockouts Champion Laurel Van Ness defending against Allie
  • Bobby Lashley vs. Moose
