Updated WWE SmackDown lineup: New segment added

Before facing off at the PLE, all six men’s Elimination Chamber participants are set to appear on WWE SmackDown.

WWE has announced that Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, LA Knight, and Jey Uso will take part in an in-ring segment on SmackDown this Friday night. Those six are the wrestlers who will be competing at Elimination Chamber on Saturday to determine Drew McIntyre’s WWE Championship challenger for WrestleMania 42.

“One night before battling inside the Elimination Chamber for the opportunity to challenge Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Je’Von Evans, Jey Uso, LA Knight and Trick Williams will stand in the ring together on SmackDown,” WWE.com wrote. “Don’t miss all the action of SmackDown, Friday at 8 ET/7 CT on USA.”

The KFC Yum Center in Louisville, Kentucky is hosting this SmackDown episode, with Elimination Chamber then being held in Chicago at the United Center the following night.

Here is the updated SmackDown lineup:

Randy Orton ‘so grateful’ to still be in WWE, reveals advice he gave Je’Von Evans

Randy Orton has reached a point in his career where he’s just grateful to still be able to compete.

In 2022, Orton’s wrestling career was put in serious jeopardy when he was forced to undergo double fusion surgery. He was sidelined for 18 months before finally returning in November 2023. That experience has helped Orton gain perspective and appreciate every moment that he gets to spend in the ring.

Orton stopped by The Pat McAfee Show today and addressed the remark he made this week where he said he wanted to give Tom Brady an RKO after the football legend called pro wrestling “cute.” A while ago, Orton would have allowed something like that to legitimately upset him. But now he’s just having fun and joking around.

“I’m just having fun at this stage in my career, man,” Orton said. “Especially after the injuries and the spinal fusion. There’s no one on the roster — that I’m aware of anyway — that’s had a lower lumbar fusion, let alone a double fusion. So the fact that I’m doing [anything], like, every second I’m in that ring, I am soaking it up. I’ve been doing this longer than damn near anybody. Gosh, I feel so grateful to be around. So hearing him call it ‘cute,’ like, I’m having fun. Ten, 15, 20 years ago? I would have been hot. I would have had choice words to say for Tom Brady.”

Orton said he treated his body terribly early in his career but has now become smarter about taking care of himself. He’s had a couple of conversations with rising WWE star Je’Von Evans about preserving his body. The 21-year-old Evans is capable of doing so many things, but Orton advised him not to perform all of those moves every single night.

“The in-ring work that we talked about earlier, I make sure that everything I’m doing, there’s a reason that I’m doing it. I’m not just throwing myself around,” Orton said. “I see young guys come up, and you know, they don’t hurt. Je’Von Evans, he is incredible. But I’ve had a couple talks with him, because he’s doing so many things that nobody else can do. And he just — he doesn’t need to do them all every night.”

Orton, Evans, Cody Rhodes, Trick Williams, LA Knight, and Jey Uso are competing in the men’s Elimination Chamber match this Saturday. The winner earns a WWE Championship shot against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 42. Becoming World Champion at least one more time is a huge goal for the 45-year-old Orton.

WWE

  • WWE uploaded the full Ethan Page vs. Shiloh Hill North American Championship match that headlined NXT last night.
  • Kevin Nash deleted the tweet where he apologized for using the term “Mr. Bojangles” in regards to Je’Von Evans. In a reply to a fan who was critical of his apology, Nash wrote that he won’t be saying anything about Evans again:
    • No worries. I won’t make the mistake of saying anything about The Young OG. I’ve read the comments, and I agree. If he fails, it’s on him. Haven’t seen a comment from anyone who’s made millions in the business. I didn’t coin him an ‘Original Gangster’ Won’t change my life either way.
  • Evans appeared to reference the situation in an Instagram post today that was accompanied by the nWo Wolfpack theme music:
    • ‘Just Wanna Apologize Real Quick….Im Sorry For Being The Best In Da Game Right Now!! Elimination Chamber Bout To……Ya’ll Finish The Rest’ -Je’Von Evans #TheYoungOG
  • Paul “Triple H” Levesque posted a tribute to former WWE director Kerwin Silfies following his passing:
    • Today, the @WWE family lost one of our beloved members. Kerwin Silfies was a huge part of the company’s programming since the mid-1980s. Over his 35+ year tenure with WWE production, he directed countless episodes of Raw and Smackdown, PLEs, and of course WrestleMania. With a dry wit and an unmatched passion for his work and his coworkers, Kerwin affected hundreds of employees and millions of fans. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.
  • Adam Pearce wrote the following:
    • Godspeed, Kerwin Silfies.
    • When I started working on Raw and SmackDown back in 2015, you were so patient and accommodating as I found my way. Always a steady, calm voice with your trusty mini notepad in hand, ready to take note of what we had cooked up. ‘Ok whaddya got, Adam?’ you’d ask me as you went around the room, listening.
    • Teaching.
    • I learned to see what we do through your director’s eye, to understand camera placement in a way I hadn’t before, and I always wondered how you always stood so calm under intense fire.
    • Cool as the other side of the pillow. Experience, red wine, talent?
    • All of the above, I surmise.
    • Thank you for letting a punk kid sit under your learning tree. And though I’m no connoisseur, the next time I have a taste of the vino it’ll be in a toast to you.
    • Rest well, Kerwin.
    • And thank you, sir.
  • AEW commentator Taz recorded a brief podcast remembering Silfies.
  • WWE Hall of Famer Typhoon (Fred Ottman) shared that everything went well with his pre-surgery consultation and things look good heading into his operation on February 23. Ottman recently spent approximately a month in the hospital after his gallbladder “exploded” and released poison into his body.

Swerve Strickland responds to Booker T’s ‘bad habits’ claim

Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland recently responded to Booker T following his comments on Je’Von Evans and how Strickland should set a better example by getting rid of his “bad habits.”

However, shortly after Ringside News shared the post on social media, Strickland re-quoted on his social media and wrote, “(Trademarks “BAD HABITS”).” In another reply to the tweet, a fan commented how Strickland has influenced more than T. He responded, “Not true.”

Strickland wrote nothing else and stayed away from ranting or launching a verbal attack on the Hall of Famer. Instead, he used the opportunity to market his AEW X Reebok product.

In a response to Strickland’s Reebok sneakers ad, a fan wrote, “How many pairs of shoes do Booker T go through a year tap dancing for WWE,” to which Strickland replied, “If he needs a new pair he can borrow mine.”

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, T opened up on Strickland’s influence on Evans, asking him to get rid of his “bad habits.”

“I heard Swerve Strickland talk about Je’Von Evans, and Evans probably grew up watching guys like him, and that’s true. So you’ve got to figure out how to get rid of those bad habits.”

Strickland and T’s virtual tension goes back over a yearand has been building since then. During a VladTV interview, Strickland had opened up about T’s treatment in WWE and the usage of a racial slur in front of him under Vince McMahon. Later, Strickland had also led a “F*** Booker T” chant after AEW Dynasty.

Kevin Nash apologizes for term used while critiquing Je’Von Evans

Kevin Nash is apologizing for a term he used while discussing Je’Von Evans’ booking.

The former WWE and WCW star took to social media to apologize for using a term to describe Evans on his podcast, saying it was in poor taste and offensive.

“How often have you heard the term Uncle Tom? Most likely, it was used in a degrading way. If you’ve actually read the literature, Uncle Tom was whipped to death for helping free two female slaves,” he wrote. “I apologize for the use of the term Mr. Bogangles, it was in poor taste and obviously offensive. I just see talent being pushed in a direction that I disagree with. He should be the male version of Sol Ruca. More contemporary than urban. It’s funny how I’m usually the only person who pays attention to the development of black talent.”

On his ‘Kliq This’ podcast, Nash was critical of Evans’ booking, arguing that he needed a bit of an edge.

“He’s an incredible athlete. He’s a little bit too f***ing Mr. Bojangles for me. I wish he was a little bit more urban,” Nash said. “I understand it’s Netflix. I understand there’s a big f***ing world out there besides the one that f***ing 66-year-old Detroit boy Kevin Nash wants, but I just want him to have a little bit of an edge.

Evans was called up to the main roster in January, recently competing in the Royal Rumble. He won an Elimination Chamber qualifying match on Monday, putting him in the match that takes place February 28 in Chicago.

Kevin Nash critiques Je’Von Evans: ‘I just want him to have a little bit of an edge’

Kevin Nash would like to see Je’Von Evans show more of an edge with his in-ring work.

On the latest episode of his Kliq This podcast, Nash critiqued Evans as a performer and mostly had good things to say about him, mentioning his top rope Diamond Cutter from Raw last week as the type of viral moment that WWE is looking for. He praised Evans’ athleticism and even his striking ability, but Nash wishes Evans would lean more into the latter and show he’s a capable fighter.

“But if he’s not going to have an edge, then — he knows how to throw, he can strike, he throws a good punch. F***ing take your time and throw a good punch. Maybe put two or three together. Something where f***ing you tell me if this sh*t was real, all this athleticism I have, I can use. Not if this sh*t was real, motherf***er, I would cartwheel off your motherf***ing body like you would never see.”

Nash pointed to his friend Sean “X-Pac” Waltman as someone who excelled at showing this type of edge and delivering the stiff, convincing strikes he would like to see from Evans.

“He sells good,” Nash said about Evans. “I mean, he does everything good.”

The 21-year-old Evans is one of WWE’s top young wrestlers. After being called up from NXT, he joined the Raw roster at the start of January and recently competed in his first Royal Rumble.

Report: WWE holds post-Royal Rumble town hall, three young stars praised

Three young stars, Oba Femi, Je’Evons, and Sol Ruca, reportedly received major praise from WWE following their outing at the 2026 Royal Rumble in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

According to a latest report by PWInsider, WWE held an all-hands-on-deck town hall at the WWE headquarters for its employees, with WWE President Nick Khan, Marc Shapiro, and Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque hosting.

As per the report, during the meeting, Femi, Evans, and Ruca received immense praise from the company executives for their performance in their first-ever Royal Rumble.

Femi finished the match with five eliminations, while Evans lasted around 48-minutes. In the women’s Rumble, Ruca lasted nearly 51-minutes and eliminated one wrestler.

The CM Punk-Roman Reigns face-off also became a talking point and was put over based on how strong it was on RAW to build up their WrestleMania 42 match. The majority of the meeting was reportedly on how well the company was doing at this moment.

The 2026 women’s Royal Rumble was won by Liv Morgan, while Roman Reigns won the 2026 men’s Royal Rumble, making it his career’s second-ever Rumble win.

Je’Von Evans felt like he ‘did amazing’ in WWE Royal Rumble

Getting to compete in his first-ever Royal Rumble was a hugely positive experience for Je’Von Evans.

Evans entered the Rumble at number eight last Saturday and was in the match for more than 40 minutes before being eliminated by Randy Orton. On Busted Open Radio this morning, Evans reflected on the match and how he performed. He’s usually very critical of himself after competing, but that wasn’t the case this time.

“I felt great. Usually, I’m very — what’s the word? Not critical — when I look back at my work, I look at everything. I’m very, like, spot on. I’m very hard on myself when it comes to my matches, because I just want them to be so great,” Evans said. “But after the Rumble, I was like, ‘Yo, I felt like I did amazing.’ I was in the ring with people that I grew up watching, so that was fire. That was great. It was insane. It was insane.”

Evans said being in the ring with stars like Orton, Brock Lesnar, and Roman Reigns made him feel like he was a fan and wrestler at the same time. He wanted to do everything he could to make himself and others look good.

Among the spots Evans participated in was an eye-catching moment where Jacob Fatu threw him high into the air on a pop-up Samoan Drop. Going into the match, Evans’ mindset was to make his own mark instead of copying legendary spots that others have already done in the past.

The 21-year-old Evans was called up to the Raw roster last month and has earned high praise from some of his main roster peers. Evans told Busted Open that Reigns, Gunther, Rey Mysterio, and CM Punk are among the dream opponents he’s hoping to face.

Also during the Busted Open interview, Evans named Terry Taylor, Shawn Michaels, Matt Bloom, and Fit Finlay as coaches who were pivotal to his development in NXT. Taylor was blunt with Evans and always honest with his feedback, while Finlay taught Evans that it was important to have grit that he can pair with his fun-loving and high-flying nature.

Two matches added to WWE Raw lineup

The lineup for tonight’s post-Royal Rumble episode of WWE Raw has a couple of new additions.

WWE has announced that Penta vs. Bronson Reed and Je’Von Evans vs. El Grande Americano will both take place on Raw tonight. The show is being held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

The Penta vs. Reed match will continue the storyline of Penta trying to dismantle The Vision, who are looking to get back on the right track after all four members came up short at the Royal Rumble. The match included Vision member Bron Breakker entering at number two and being taken out by a mystery attacker.

Evans and Americano faced off on Raw a couple of weeks ago, but the match ended in a referee stoppage due to it being feared that Evans had suffered a concussion. Evans was checked out by medical personnel after the match and was determined to be okay.

There were two El Grande Americanos in the men’s Rumble on Saturday as Chad Gable returned in the gimmick that he originally portrayed. Ludwig Kaiser took over the character after Gable was sidelined with a shoulder injury last year.

Here is the updated card for Raw tonight:

WWE Raw (Monday, February 2) —

  • Philly Street Fight: Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer defends against Raquel Rodriguez
  • Men’s Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns appears
  • Women’s Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan appears
  • Penta vs. Bronson Reed
  • Je’Von Evans vs. El Grande Americano

Je’Von Evans feels ‘very ready for it’ heading into WWE Royal Rumble

Je’Von Evans talked about participating in his first Royal Rumble match during a recent interview with Peter Rosenberg.

Asked how he feels heading into his first Royal Rumble, Evans responded that it feels surreal, before correcting himself and saying that he feels ready.

Evans said:

“It feels surreal, you know? I wouldn’t even say that cause I feel like I was very ready for it, like very expecting of all this. But honestly, it’s a great time. It’s fun. I’ve never been to Saudi Arabia before, so eating their food: fire.

“We’re just having a great time and just preparing for the Rumble.”

Evans was asked about his “level of nerves” going into big matches and responded:

“I know when I had the match with Randy, I was nervous all day. But since then, I haven’t been so nervous because of that moment. So I think this is another achievement for me. I feel confident right now, but before I go out and the countdown starts, then I’m like, ‘Oh, alright, it just got real.’ So I think in that moment, I’m going to start having butterflies.”

Evans was asked about the possibility of Chris Jericho returning to WWE in the Rumble, and how he would react if Jericho’s music hit while he was still in the ring.

“It would be insane, bro,” Evans said.

Evans is one of 22 names confirmed for the men’s Royal Rumble match on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, leaving 8 spots open. His full interview with Peter Rosenberg is available below:

Je’Von Evans okay following WWE Raw match stoppage

Update:

Dave Meltzer reports the following:

“Je’Von Evans was injured and the match had to be stopped on Raw today against Grande Americano. Right now the belief is it wasn’t too bad, there was more fear of a concussion and he’s said to be fine and flying home.”

Original story:

Je’Von Evans is reportedly okay after an injury scare on Raw.

Both PWInsider and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful are reporting that Je’Von Evans is doing okay after his match was stopped during Monday’s show in Belfast, Ireland. According to PWInsider, the match was stopped over a possible concussion. Evans was checked out backstage and left the show to travel with the rest of the roster as part of WWE’s European tour.

According to PWInsider, it was said that it doesn’t appear that Evans suffered a concussion, but it can’t be ruled out 100%.

The bout between Evans and El Grande Americano was stopped very early into the match, with the announcer saying that Evans was no longer able to compete. The match was awarded to Americano as Evans was helped to the back by WWE staff.

Evans was officially called up to the main roster earlier this month, joining the Raw brand and starting a feud with El Grande Americano and Los Americanos. He defeated Bravo on last week’s show ahead of his bout with El Grande. During the European house show tour this past weekend, he teamed with CM Punk to defeat The Vision in tag team matches.

Je’Von Evans injury forces WWE Raw match stoppage

While competing on WWE Raw today, Je’Von Evans suffered an injury that caused his match to end in a referee stoppage.

The 21-year-old Evans faced off against El Grande Americano in a singles bout on Monday’s show from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Shortly into the contest, Americano was declared the winner when it was announced that Evans was not medically cleared to continue. It’s not clear what happened, but Evans sustained what looked to be a shoulder injury that required medical attention. There’s been no announcement as to what the exact injury is or how severe it may be.

Evans performed a springboard clothesline and looked fine as the show went to a commercial break. The injury did not occur during the break, so it had to have happened on the springboard clothesline landing or a different spot that occurred earlier. Evans was holding his shoulder/upper chest when heading to the back after the match.

One of the brightest young stars in WWE, Evans was called up from NXT to Raw on the first episode of 2026. He’s recently been wrestling in house show matches on WWE’s European tour, which wraps up in Brussels tomorrow. Those have either been singles matches against Bron Breakker or tag bouts with Evans & CM Punk facing The Vision (Breakker & Bronson Reed).

Evans has already earned high praise from some of his main roster peers, including The Miz calling him a really special star who has unlimited potential.
