Impact TV taping spoilers: Under Siege fallout

Impact Wrestling was back inside London, Ontario’s Western Fair District Agriplex for a set of television tapings on Saturday.

Notable moments from the show include Trinity calling out Deonna Purrazzo for Slammiversary, Gisele Shaw injuring Jordynne Grace in what may have been Grace’s final segment with the company, and a Knockouts tag title match between The Coven and The Death Dollz

Below are spoilers from the show.

Impact TV tapings 5/27:

  • Jade Alexander made her way to the ring to welcome fans and introduce Tom Hannifan & Gia Miller as your BTI commentary team.

BTI Matches:

  • Brian Myers (w/The Good Hands) defeated Tyler Tirva by pinfall after hitting The Roster Cut
  • Seleziya Sparx & Tara Rising went to a No Contest after Masha Slamovich attacked both women with a chain. After the attack, Slamovich cut a promo on the mic in Russian challenging Killer Kelly to a Dog Collar Match at Slammiversary.

TV Taping (June 1st):

  • Jade Alexander introduced Matthew Rehwoldt and David Penzer for the main show as herself and Gia Miller left the ringside area.
  • A Bully Ray promo segment opened the show.
  • Ray stated that there was nobody better in the business at putting people through tables than him and when you really piss him off, he puts them through a flaming table. Ray stated that he was going to Against All Odds in Ohio to win the 8-4-1 tournament and then go on to Slammiversary to win the Impact World title.
    • Steve Maclin then came down to the ring. After Bully initially got into with Maclin verbally, Bully backed down and acknowledged Maclin as world champion. Maclin told Ray they could make a good tag team but if he faced him at Slammiversary for the title, that was fine too.
    • Motor City Machine Guns then came down to the ring and Alex Shelley took exception to both Maclin and Ray’s claim to the title and said he’s walking out of Against All Odds as champion. Ray told Shelley he was one of the best in the world but that he’s never won the title and that Sabin isn’t as great as him. Sabin told Ray he beat him for the title 10 years ago but Ray responded his title reign didn’t last long. Shelley stated that he knows he can beat Maclin and when Maclin asked how he knew, Shelley stated it was because Maclin is not Josh Alexander. Sabin then challenged Ray and Maclin to a tag team match and Ray said that was a great idea but it wasn’t happening tonight.
    • SUBCULTURE’s music hit and challenged MCMG to a match later tonight and MCMG agreed.
  • Eddie Edwards (w/Alisha) defeated Yuya Uemura by pinfall with the Boston Knee Party.
    • After the match, Edwards went to shake Uemura’s hand but then pulled his hand away instead and left the ring. As Edwards and Alisha were leaving the ring, they were confronted by Frankie Kazarian who took exception to the fact that Edwards was not acting like a locker room leader to the young stars. Kazarian then took out Edwards and Alisha as she had jumped on his back before leaving ringside.
  • Sami Callihan & Jake Crist defeated Decay (Black Taurus & Crazzy Steve) after Callihan pinned Steve after Crist landed a flying bulldog on Steve.
    • Callihan and Crist came to the ring with oVe hats but they weren’t introduced as oVe. After the match, The Design hit the ring and laid out Callihan and Crist before Rich Swann made the save with a chair.
  • Trinity defeated Savannah Evans (w/Gisele Shaw & Jai Vidal) by submission with Starstruck.
    • After the match, Trinity called out the Knockouts champion and Deonna Purrazzo came down to the ring. Trinity challenged Purrazzo to a title match at Slammiversary and Deonna agreed. Shaw, Evans, and Vidal then attacked and laid out both Trinity and Purrazzo before Jordynne Grace hit the ring. Grace was quickly outnumbered however and as Evans and Vidal held Grace, Shaw nailed Jordynne with three consecutive running knee strikes. Grace had to be helped from the ring by referees and staff.
  • Jody Threat defeated Dani Luna by pinfall after hitting a spinning neckbreaker.
  • Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) defeated SUBCULTURE (Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews) by pinfall after Sabin hit Webster with an assisted Cradle Shock by Shelley.
    • After the match, all four men shook hands and showed respect to one another.
  • The ring mat was changed as they got set for the second set of tapings to air on June 8th.

TV Taping (June 8th – Against All Odds go-home show):

  • Before his match against Chris Bey, Brian Myers cut an in-ring promo stating that tomorrow night at Against All Odds, the tag team titles were going to be in the hands of the Good Hands.
  • Chris Bey (w/Ace Austin) defeated Jason Hotch (w/Brian Myers and John Skyler) by pinfall with a Magistral Cradle.
    •  Post-match, Myers and The Good Hands laid out Bey and Austin and then poised with the titles before throwing them back down on ABC.
  • Heath defeated Champagne Singh (w/Shera) by pinfall after hitting the Wake Up Call.
  • Joe Hendry defeated Sheldon Jean (w/Kenny King) by pinfall after hitting the Standing Ovation.
    • After the match, Hendry called out Dirty Dango. Dango appeared at the top of the entrance ramp but stated he wouldn’t work on his night off, especially in a $300 shirt. Hendry stated that he wasn’t calling Dango out to wrestle but simply to premiere his new music video titled “Divas Reject”.
    • After Dango watched the music video, King and Singh attacked Hendry from behind and an enraged Dango joined them. Santino Marella’s music hit and after Jean stepped up to him, Marella laid him out with the Cobra.
  • The Coven (KiLynn King & Taylor Wilde) defeated Death Dollz (Courtney Rush & Jessicka) by pinfall to retain the Knockouts tag team titles after Wilde pinned Rush after a running boot by King.
  • Trey Miguel defeated Bhupinder Gujjar by pinfall after hitting a twisting neckbreaker in a non-title match.
    • After the match, Miguel cut a promo stating that he’s the second-longest reigning X-Division champion in history and that at Against All Odds, that wouldn’t change. He didn’t mention his opponent, however.
  • Moose & Rich Swann defeated Nick Aldis & Jonathan Gresham by pinfall after Moose nailed Gresham with a powerbomb.
    • After the match, Swann confronted Moose and Gresham followed. Moose attacked Gresham and Swann then attacked Moose.
    • Aldis got involved and then Heath ran down to the ring to get involved as well.
    • Bully Ray then came down to the ring and got involved followed by PCO who managed to take out all the other men and stand tall after landing a dive through the ring ropes to the floor.
  • Deonna Purrazzo & Killer Kelly defeated Gisele Shaw & Masha Slamovich by pinfall after Purrazzo hit Shaw with the Queen’s Gambit.
    • After the match, Purrazzo and Kelly thanked the fans for two great nights of IMPACT Wrestling in London, Ontario, Canada.

Next up for Impact is Against All Odds from Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio. Steve Maclin will defend the Impact World title against Alex Shelley on the show.

Title change at Impact Wrestling TV tapings in Mexico City

A title change took place at Impact Wrestling’s television tapings in Mexico City on Saturday night.

Jordynne Grace defeated Taya Valkyrie at the tapings to win Impact’s Knockouts Championship. This is the first time that Grace has held the title.

Valkyrie was the longest reigning Knockouts Champion in Impact history. After winning the championship from Tessa Blanchard at Impact’s Homecoming pay-per-view last January, she held the title for over a year.

Before being made a triple threat as part of a storyline where ODB was added, Valkyrie vs. Grace was originally announced as the Knockouts title match for this month’s Hard to Kill PPV. Grace had that match won after hitting the Grace Driver on ODB, but John E. Bravo distracted the referee. As Grace turned her attention to Bravo, Valkyrie stole the pin while Bravo prevented Grace from breaking it up.

Impact was at Fronton Mexico on both Friday and Saturday for their post-Hard to Kill tapings.

Four matches added to Impact TV tapings in Mexico City

Impact Wrestling has added four matches to their television tapings in Mexico City, Mexico.

Impact is taping TV at Fronton Mexico tomorrow and Friday. Michael Elgin vs. Rhino, Impact Tag Team Champions The North (Josh Alexander & Ethan Page) vs. LAX (Santana & Ortiz), and Rich Swann & Willie Mack vs The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz) are set for Thursday’s tapings.

Jessicka Havok vs. Su Yung has been confirmed for Friday.

As was previously announced, Tenille Dashwood vs. Kiera Hogan and RVD vs. Madman Fulton are set for Thursday. Dr. Wagner Jr. will be appearing on Friday.

Elgin and Rhino’s feud began when Elgin was Gored at Slammiversary XVII. Elgin lost to Impact World Champion Brian Cage at the pay-per-view, then hit Cage with the title belt after the match and went to attack Don Callis. A masked man then appeared and gave Elgin a Gore.

Impact didn’t specify if The North vs. LAX is a title match. The North won the titles from LAX at Bash at the Brewery last month.

At Slammiversary, The North retained against LAX and The Rascalz in a triple threat match. There was an injury angle with Santana during the match. In his place, Daga teamed with Ortiz as they unsuccessfully challenged for The North’s titles on the Impact episode that aired last week.

LAX’s contracts with Impact are set to expire this summer.

Impact Wrestling to hold September TV tapings in Mexico City

Impact Wrestling is heading to Mexico for their next set of television tapings.

Impact announced today that they’ll be holding TV tapings at Frontón México in Mexico City on Thursday, September 13 and Friday, September 14. The promotion touted that this is the first time episodes of Impact will emanate from Mexico.

“We are excited about this historic trip to Mexico as we continue to expand our live event schedule globally,” Impact Wrestling president Ed Nordholm said. “We look forward to working closely with our promotional partners at Lucha Libre AAA and our broadcast partner 52MX to bring an unforgettable experience to our passionate fan base in Mexico heading into the final stretch for Bound for Glory this October.”

The Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York will host Bound for Glory on October 14.

The most recent Impact tapings have taken place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Slammiversary XVI was held at the Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto last month, with Impact holding two nights of tapings at the venue after the pay-per-view and returning for two more nights on August 12 and 13.

Title change at tonight’s Impact Wrestling TV tapings

Results: @loosejonnyt

The Knockouts Championship changed hands at tonight’s Impact Wrestling television tapings in Toronto.

Tessa Blanchard defeated Su Yung and Allie in a triple threat match, rolling up Allie to win the title. Yung will get her rematch as the tapings continue tomorrow.

Yung had been champion since defeating Allie in a Last Rites match at a set of tapings in April.

This is Blanchard’s first reign with the Knockouts Championship. She made her Impact debut at April’s Redemption pay-per-view and signed a two-year deal with the company last month.

In another title match that was filmed tonight, Brian Cage defeated Fenix to retain the X Division Championship. oVe and Sami Callihan attacked Pentagon Jr. and Fenix after the match until Cage came back to make the save.

Tonight and tomorrow’s tapings are being held at the Rebel Entertainment Complex, which is where Slammiversary XVI and the post-PPV TV episodes were filmed in July.

Impact notes: Two title changes at TV tapings, another departure

Two titles changed hands at last night’s Impact television tapings in Orlando, Florida.

Matt Sydal, who already holds the promotion’s Grand Championship, defeated Taiji Ishimori to win the X Division title in a match where both belts were on the line. The rounds and judges concept for the Grand Championship was dropped at the first night of this week’s tapings.

In the night’s other title change, Allie defeated Laurel Van Ness to win the Knockouts Championship. The two were involved in a segment earlier in the show where KM said he was an ordained minister and was going to marry Van Ness to the Knockouts title. Braxton Sutter interrupted and said he made a mistake by choosing Allie over Van Ness. She rejected him, then Allie came out and stood tall over Van Ness.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Van Ness is currently scheduled to finish up with Impact Wrestling at this set of television tapings. Meltzer wrote that she gave her notice at the tapings in Ottawa after she won the title, but the company wouldn’t release her from her contract until she came back and was written off TV.

Chris Adonis also announced on Twitter today that he’s no longer with the company: “I have to announce my departure from Impact Wrestling. Thank you to @sonjaydutterson @EdNordholm & @ScottDAmore.”

Former champion returns, wins title at Impact TV tapings

A new World Champion was crowned at tonight’s Impact tapings in Orlando.

Austin Aries returned to Impact Wrestling and defeated Eli Drake to capture the title. The match is expected to air sometime in February.

It was set up when Drake and Chris Adonis did an interview where Adonis was putting over Drake as the greatest champion of all-time, the greatest dresser of all-time, the greatest friend of all-time, and Drake during his promo claimed he was the greatest man who ever lived.

This brought out Aries. who ran down his credentials and noted he was a former World Champion for this company. It wound up in a match with Aries winning the title. He previously held the TNA World title for three months in 2012.

Aries was the most significant name to debut at the tapings. Kiera Hogan, who had signed with the company a while ago, also made her debut. The tapings will continue over the next five days.
