Impact Wrestling live results: The fallout from Against All Odds

Preview by Josh Nason

The future of Sami Callihan in Impact Wrestling and his World title shot at Slammiversary are expected to be decided on tonight’s show.

At last Saturday’s Against All Odds, the former World Champion was fired in storyline by Don Callis after he attacked Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks after Omega defended the title against Moose. Callihan was scheduled to challenge Omega at next month’s pay-per-view before the storyline executive fired him.

On tonight’s show, fellow Impact VP Scott D’Amore will address the situation with Callis.

The lineup will also include Satoshi Kojima vs. Violent by Design’s Deaner with a future Tag Team title shot for Kojima and Eddie Edwards on the line; the promotional debut of Steve Maclin, X-Division Champion Josh Alexander vs. Madman Fulton in a non-title match; Rachael Ellering vs. Tenille Dashwood; Black Taurus vs. TJP, and a confrontation between Moose and Chris Sabin.

The BTI pre-show match is Daivari vs. Jake Something.

**********

A recap of the Kenny Omega-Don Callis saga aired to begin the show. The recap showed moments of the Against All Odds main event between Kenny and Moose.

Moose was shown backstage banging Scott D’Amore’s door down. Moose demanded a rematch against Omega after the Young Bucks interfered in the Impact World Championship match at Against All Odds.

******

TJP defeated Black Taurus via pinfall

TJP was his usual self in this match, keeping a fast and exciting pace with Taurus. Taurus was able to keep up most of the way through the first portion of the match before he began to work on the back of TJP.

Taurus had some more offense before TJP turned the momentum back up and nailed his opponent with a tornado DDT.

TJP wasted no time afterwards and hit his signature frog splash for the win.

Moose Hijacks Impact

Moose came out and attacked TJP after the bell. Moose then said he was hijacking Impact until he got Scott D’Amore in the ring with him.

Chris Sabin made his return after Moose’s attack from a few weeks ago. Sabin sent Moose reeling to the back with a top rope dropkick. He also offered to have a match with Moose, but he seemingly refused.

After a commercial break, Sabin challenged Moose to a match at Slammiversary.

******

Josh Alexander defeated Madman Fulton (w/ Ace Austin)

Fulton manhandled Alexander early on, tossing him around like it was no feat. Alexander would try to dodge and pick his spots but didn’t have any success doing so. Fulton would continue manhandling him into a commercial break.

The broadcast returned to show Fulton hammering the X-Division Champion with hammer fists, continuing his dominance. Austin got involved a few times too when the referee’s back was turned.

Alexander finally got some momentum on his side when he dropped Fulton on his head with a delayed vertical suplex. Alexander ended up planting Fulton with a hook piledriver for the win.

After the match, Austin jumped Alexander. Petey Williams sprinted out to the ring and was going to hit a Canadian Destroyer, but Rohit Raju came and stopped him. Trey Miguel made an appearance as well.

Mahabali Shera made his return and cleared the ring of everyone but Raju and Austin. Shera stood tall with Raju, Austin and Fulton.

******

Deonna Purrazzo chewed out Susan and Kimber Lee backstage. Susan yelled at Purrazzo and claimed she wouldn’t be Knockouts Champion without them. Purrazzo walked off, signaling a break-up between the three.

W. Morrissey was interviewed backstage. Morrissey cut a promo basically saying he doesn’t need friends, and that everyone in Impact is under a “spell”. A spell that tricks them into thinking friends can get them to the top of the card.

********

Steve Maclin defeated Jason Page

Maclin’s entrance is cool. He came to the ring wearing a trench coat and with a sweet theme song. This is his official Impact debut.

This match was exactly what you would expect it to be.  Maclin mowed over Page with a vicious shotgun elbow within the first few seconds.

Page got a very small amount of offense in, but he never had a chance. Maclin had some really good offensive moments, and eventually won with a Falcon Arrow.

********

Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering continued their heated drama backstage. Ellering tried to make amends with Grace, but she wasn’t having any of it.

Don Callis was interviewed backstage. Callis compared his relationship with D’Amore to siblings, and siblings fight sometimes.  Callis claimed D’Amore is too nice and said he caters to the talent too much. He also claimed he wasn’t afraid of the Anthem rep coming to Impact tonight.

********

Tenille Dashwood (w/ Kaleb) defeated Rachael Ellering

Grace was not out at ringside for Ellering’s match.

This was a very standard match. Ellering worked on Dashwood’s arm for the first half of the match. Commentary wasn’t even interested, they were talking about the Sami Callihan situation.

Anytime Dashwood tried to get back in the match, Ellering would find a way to halt her momentum. The contest swung in Dashwood’s favor after Kaleb distracted Ellering.

Both women spent some time out of the ring, which resulted in Ellering being thrown into the steel guardrails after another Kaleb distraction.

After both competitors found their way back in the ring, the match picked up. Dashwood slapped Ellering which sent her into a rage and caused a distraction, allowing a Dashwood roll up pin for the victory.

********

TJP and Fallah Bahh were seen knocking on Scott D’Amore’s door backstage. Decay approached them and Bahh challenged them to a tag team match. Decay seemingly accepted.

Fire N’ Flava are shown backstage. They harassed a few janitors asking them who the best Impact Knockouts Tag Team in history is, before Rosemary and Jessica Havok attacked them and threw them in the dumpster. Tasha Steelz pulled a trash bag out of the Dumpster with the name “Mickie” taped on the side.

*********

Kojima (w/ Eddie Edwards) defeated Rhino (w/ Violent By Design)

If Kojima wins, he will earn himself and Eddie Edwards a Impact Tag Team Championship match.

Kojima and Rhino meshed together well early on, trading forearms and irish whips. Kojima always lays his stuff in and he’s a joy to watch.

The match had a slow, manipulative pace. Rhino kept Kojima down and out of everything for the middle portion of the match, before Kojima hit a lariat followed by a cutter. Edwards rallied Kojima at ringside which gave him momentum to hit Rhino with the Cozy Lariat for the three count and the win.

*********

Sami Callihan speaks

Callihan was surrounded by five security guards when Scott D’Amore came to the ring. D’Amore told Callihan to calm down and that he would resolve the issues that are present.

The Arena went dark and Callihan disappeared. Don Callis came out and ran down Callihan some more, and told D’Amore to man up. D’Amore accused Callis of firing Callihan for Kenny Omega.

Tommy Dreamer came to the ring and claimed he is the person Anthem Sports sent. Dreamer reinstated Sami Callihan first off, and then fired Don Callis from his VP role. Callis was enraged and called Dreamer a “Bruce Pritchard stooge” before walking off the set to end the show.

Impact Wrestling live results: Moose vs. Sami Callihan

Preview by Josh Nason

Thursday’s Impact is headlined by a grudge match that has been building for weeks as no. 1 contender Moose will face Sami Callihan.

Callihan and Moose have spent the past few weeks reluctantly backing each other up against Impact World Champion Kenny Omega and the Good Brothers, but came to blows last week in a match against the Brothers.

Tonight’s show will also feature the conclusion of Impact’s first-ever hour-long Iron Man match as X-Division Champion Josh Alexander will defend against TJP. The match will start on their BTI pre-show (also on AXS TV) at 7 PM with the conclusion on the main show.

New Japan legend Satoshi Kojima will make his promotional debut against VBD’s Deaner ahead of his Against All Odds clash with Joe Doering.

In a Knockouts Tag Team title rematch, Fire N’ Flava will defend against former champions Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering in a time when there has been dissention between them.

In another grudge match, Jake Something will face Rohit Raju in a tables match.

* * * * * * * * * *

X-Division Champion Josh Alexander (w/ Petey Williams) defeated TJP (w/ Fallah Bahh) two falls to one in a 60-minute Iron Man match to retain

Both men have feuded around the X-Division championship for months. They traded wins and losses since last year, both in singles and tag team matches, but as of late, Alexander has moved forward winning the title at Rebellion by defeating Austin and TJP in a three-way, the latter earning a shot at the title on last week’s Impact when he pinned Alexander in a tag team match.

The match started on the BTI pre-show.

The match started with a slow pace with both men trading holds on the mat. TJP kept changing his focus between the legs to the arms, while Alexander stayed with the left arm. After about 15 minutes, both men kept trading momentum between Alexander distracting himself with Bahh and then coming back into the match as he managed to lock in the first ankle lock of the match.

Both men started trading and reversing pinfalls until Alexander managed to keep TJP down for the three count, giving him the 1-0 advantage.

With TJP hurt, Alexander dominated, setting a slow pace by working over TJP’s head but not slow enough that he took the easy way out for a countout win. This, despite it being clear that TJP wasn’t making it back in the ring on time. Alexander maintained this control past the 30-minute mark.

TJP started to make a comeback and traded some submissions with Alexander, but he couldn’t fully cut him off. He did pull Alexander into another near fall exchange. Instead of going for a pinfall, though, TJP locked in a sharpshooter that he finished with a last chancery. Alexander made the ropes, but he was hurt.

40 minutes in, TJP was still down 1-0, but managed to hurt Alexander’s midsection. At the 45 minute mark, TJP had completely turned the match around, he caught Alexander with an octopus stretch, transitioned to a near fall and followed with a DDT and a dive, but as he we went for more offense outside the ring, Alexander hit a brainbuster, dropping TJP on the apron.

The match got heated and spilled outside. Alexander went to piledrive TJP on the ramp, but was distracted by Chris Sabin, Trey Miguel and even Williams telling him to not cross that line. It was counterproductive as TJP used that time to recover and reverse Alexander, hitting a piledriver himself and wanting to take the countout win. Alas, Alexander made it in at 9.

At this point, the roster slowly started to spill outside to watch the match.

TJP followed with a helluva kick and the mamba splash, but he was done for and Alexander moved out of the way. Alexander was bleeding from the forehead. TJP locked Alexander in a tree of woe and even took off his headgear. As the match transitioned into the main TV show, TJP still couldn’t get a pin on Alexander.

With five minutes to go, TJP hit a falcon arrow for a near fall, followed with a couple of running boots, but Alexander reacted after two and countered with an ankle lock. TJP hit a desperation detonation kick for a two count. He finally connected with the mamba splash, but Alexander still kicked out.

TJP finally went for another detonation kick, but Alexander countered into the ankle lock. With two minutes to go, TJP reversed into an ankle lock himself and into a kneebar. Somehow, Alexander managed to reverse it into an ankle lock.

In the final minute, Alexander had TJP in a deep ankle lock with his legs grapevined. With tw seconds to go, TJP managed to roll back the ankle lock and pin Alexander to tie the match, meaning we are going into sudden death.

The bell rung and they went straight into a striking exchange. TJP was wobbly and Alexander was all bruised and bloody. Alexander caught TJP with a Green Bay plunge, moonsault and powerbomb on the knee, only to get a near fall. Finally, he hit Divine Intervention and won the match 2-1.

This was just amazing and one of the best Impact matches I’ve seen in years. Alexander is going to elevate the X-Division to a new level.

— Backstage, Don Callis talked to the Good Brothers about their plans to have Moose and Callihan fight, but before they continued, they discovered the hidden cameraperson and cut the feed out.

– Josh Alexander talked about how hard ironman matches are. Edwards walked up and congratulated him. TJP walked up and thanked Alexander for the match, whether they had another match again or not. D’Amore also approached them, to which Alexander told him that he is the only Impact wrestler holding Impact gold, and until they regain the Impact World Championship, he considers himself the king of the mountain.

All of the X Division guys walked up and asked D’Amore for a shot, but D’Amore instead walked away.

Jake Something defeated Rohit Raju in a tables match

About a month ago, Rohit Raju cost Something the opportunity to be in the Under Siege #1 contendership match, even since, Something has chased both Raju and Shera, who he has already taken out.

The match quickly went into some table teases as both men brawled outside the ring. Raju tried to introduce some chairs into the match, but was blocked by Something, and easily taken down by a couple of power moves from Something.

It wouldn’t be until Raju hit a desperate foot stomp that he got the opening to attack Something with the chair, over and over, focusing the arm. Raju kept Something down for some time, between knee attacks, chair spots, and low blows. At one point, he hit a top rope foot stomp onto Something, who lay on top ro a chair bed.

Finish saw Raju try to kick Something into a vertical table, but Something countered with a couple of blackhole slams, no sold a chair shot, and destroyed Raju through a table with a spear.

Something looked amazing in those last couple of minutes.

– W. Morrissey asked D’Amore for a match with Rich Swann tonight. Swann had asked for one too, so the match was next.

– Rosemary cut a promo on Deonna Purrazzo. She said that last week, she pinned her, and at Against All Odds, she’s bringing the title back to the darkness. Havok walked up to Rosemary and told her that just because they’ve been on the same side lately, she’s still coming for the title regardless who wins at AAO.

Rosemary told her that if she wanted a shot, she’d need to take it from her.

Rich Swann vs W. Morrissey never officially started

Swann and Morrissey started feuding after Morrissey destroyed Mack at Under Siege. Ever since, they’ve taken shots at each other, but this is the first time they make it to the ring.

Morrissey jumped Swann during his entrance. Swann tried to make a comeback, but Morrissey kept him down with a big boot. Security came down and stopped Morrissey from further harm to Swann.

The distraction from security allowed Mack to come out with a chair and kept Morrissey at bay, saving Swann from a beat down. Morrissey walked away with a smile.

– Backstage, Tenille Dashwood and Kaleb with a K walked up to Rachael Ellering while she warmed up. Dashwood brought up all the chemistry between them in last week’s match, and since they both wanted the tag titles, then maybe they could team up. Jordynne Grace walked up and saved Ellering from the awkwardness. Dashwood wished them luck in their tag title match tonight.

– We got a video package from Bryan Myers explaining Sam Beale on how to be a professional wrestler. He critiqued Beale’s look and presentation. He gave him one of his t-shirts to hide his tattoos and told him to change his entrance. This has potential if it ends with Beale getting a new look.

– Gia Miller interviewed Purrazzo and told her that Havok and Rosemary are wrestling next week, and if Havok wins, she is inserted to the AAO match. Purrazzo said that the office keeps stacking the odds against her, but she has already defeated them before and she’ll do it again.

Knockout Tag Team Champions Fire ‘n Flava (Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz) defeated Jordynne Grace & Rachael Ellering to retain the titles.

Just a week after winning the titles, Grace and Ellering lost them again to former champions Hogan and Steelz. They have successfully made Grace question her abilities after she was the one to take the pin for her teams (Ellering, Jazz) for a few months now.

The match was a shorter version of their Under Siege match with Ellering as the babyface in peril and Grace getting the hot tag. Ellering returned to the match and once again got cut off by the champs. The match eventually came down to Grace and Steelz with Grace taken out outside. The champions double-teamed Grace with a frog splash and sleeper combo to retain the titles.

This was yet another loss for Grace who is close to her breaking point. Surprisingly, Dashwood never interfered or came out.

— Callihan cut a promo saying he wasn’t afraid of Moose. Callis walked up to him and tried to play head games, telling him that he’s on his side because everyone likes Moose, but he recognizes Callihan’s potential.

— We got a vignette for Steve Maclin, the former Steve Cutler, who likes to drink Jameson and listen to old music.

— Backstage, Hogan and Steelz bugged D’Amore with their title defense celebration. They told him they wanted new competition, so D’Amore told them that Susan and Kimber Lee had issues with them and would be defending the titles against them at Against All Odds.

Satoshi Kojima defeated Deaner (w/ Violent By Design)

Kojima debuted last week, challenging Doering to a match at Against All Odds. Before that, he takes on Doering’s stablemate, Deaner. The match was mostly Kojima on top, getting in all his greatest hits. Deaner did get some offense in as VBD kept distracting Kojima, but nothing big.

At one point, Doering was going to get involved, but Edwards came out and made the save, allowing Kojima to hit the Cozy Cutter and lariat combo for the win.

— Moose was cutting a promo when he also got interrupted by Callis. He now pretended to be in Moose’s corner. Callis is trying to get Moose and Callihan to take each other out, but neither are buying what Callis is selling.

— Eric Young was cutting a promo on Edwards, but they got interrupted by Decay. They talked down Deaner, but EY stepped up and told him that he also trained Crazzy Steve as he did Deaner. Steve told him that if EY was so sure about Deaner, why not invoke “Freebird rules” and have Violent By Design defend the tag titles against Black Taurus and him. The match is on, but I didn’t get which VBD combo will defend the titles.

– Brown and Josh Mathews (who sat in for Matt Striker again) ran down next week’s card with Havok vs Rosemary and Morrissey vs Mack. Also, Swann vs. Morrissey were announced for Against All Odds.

Sami Callihan defeated Moose by DQ

Both men have chased Kenny Omega ever since he won the Impact World title. Moose won the Under Siege #1 contender match to earn his shot against Omega. In that same match, Callis and the Good Brothers personally targeted Callihan, costing him the match. Last week, through problems, Moose and Callihan lost to the Brothers and the dissension led to this match between the two which was Callis’ plan all along.

Callihan hit Moose with a big boot at the start, catching him off his guard and allowing Callihan to get in some early offense. Moose eventually had enough, blocked Callihan’s kick attempt, power bombed him, and took control.

The match spilled to the floor with back and forrth action with Callihan heavily focusing on taking out Moose’s arm.

Back in the ring, the action continued with both men trying to chase their finishing move. Moose was working with only one arm at this point, so he was having trouble with most of his power moves. Nonetheless, he fought through the pain and still managed to hit a superplex for a near fall.

At the end, Moose hit the Okada corner dropkick, followed by a Go To Hell for a near fall. Callihan hit a piledriver for a near fall, but as he went for the finish, the Good Brothers came out and attacked both men, giving Callihan the win by DQ.

Callis and Omega walked out afterwards with the latter joining in on the attack.

Backstage, the group celebrated until D’Amore confronted them and told Callis that since Callihan had defeated the top contender, he officially needed to be entered into the Against All Odds main event.

Callis tried to argue that Tony Khan wouldn’t accept Omega wrestling Callihan, so D’Amore invited Khan to be there next week to talk it over.

Impact Wrestling live results: Jake Something vs. Deaner tables match

Preview by Josh Nason

A tables match between heated rivals Deaner and Jake Something is the featured match on tonight’s Impact Wrestling.

Part of Violence by Design, Deaner has put extra motivation on himself to win after disappointing Eric Young and Joe Doering in not dispatching his cousin in previous opportunities. Something has rebuked VBD’s offers to join the team and is looking to put them in the rearview mirror after tonight.

In other action, Super X-Cup winner Ace Austin teams with Chris Bey and Black Taurus against Willie Mack, Josh Alexander and Trey Miguel with the winning team moving on to a triple threat next week with an X-Division title match awaiting the winner. Finally, Jazz and Jordynne Grace will face Susan and Kimber Lee with the winners getting a future Knockouts Tag Team title shot.

And, of course, there will likely be another AEW paid ad courtesy of Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone.

Our live coverage kicks off at 8 PM Eastern.

* * * * * * * * * *

In the Before The Impact match, Johnny Swinger defeated Fallah Bahh.

The opening video recapped the debut of FinJuice (Juice Robinson and David Finlay) defeating Reno Scum and being confronted by the Good Brothers afterward. Also, Moose defeated Tommy Dreamer in an old school rules match.

Jake Something defeated Deaner in a tables match

At No Surrender, Deaner lost to Something, only for Violent By Design to attack him afterward and put him through a table. Last week, Deaner challenged Something to a tables match with no VBD at ringside.

The match saw a vicious Deaner go at Something, who kept managing to cut Deaner off using his strength advantage. Deaner, being more experienced and faster, was able to get some heat on Something after dodging him with Something crashing face first into the edge of a table. With several tables around the ring, they did a couple of teases where Deaner kept weaseling out of Something’s hands. At the end, when Deaner got the advantage thanks to a low blow, Something caught him with a black hole slam into the table.

After the match, Moose hit the lights out on Something through another table. Moose got the mic and said that he was hijacking the show until he got his Impact World title match. The refs took Something away during the commercial break. Moose was still in the ring until Scott D’Amore, who now has entrance video and music, came out. D’Amore told Moose that Swann wasn’t even in the arena, so he couldn’t give him his title match tonight.

Something came back to the ring and wanted to get in a fight. Since Moose wanted a title match, D’Amore said he was officially reinstating the TNA World title and Moose would have to defend against Something in the main event.

Chris Bey, Black Taurus & Ace Austin (with Madman Fulton) defeated Trey Miguel, Willie Mack & Josh Alexander to advance to an X-Division title match

The stipulation of the match was that the winning team will face off in a three way dance on next week’s Impact with the winner earning a title shot against TJP.

The match saw a couple of pairups early on. Mack and Taurus, in particular, were impressive with their lucha libre. Taurus later went against Alexander, got the better of him, and managed to cut the ring in half on him.

The team of Austin, Bey and Taurus worked over Alexander throughout the commercial break. Bey got cocky and started talking trash, allowing Alexander to counter him and tag out. Miguel got the hot tag and ran wild over Austin and Taurus before tagging in Mack, who ended up taking The Fold at the hands of Austin for a near fall. Every man came in to hit a big signature move, but at the end, it was Bey that pinned Mack in a good match.

That makes it Bey vs. Taurus vs. Austin next week.

After the match, Sami Callihan once again teased Miguel for losing his cool when he wasn’t winning. Miguel finally had enough and started beating up Callihan until security pulled him away.

— Backstage, Rosemary and Crazzy Steve cut a promo saying that Black Taurus will win next week’s match and eventually win the X-Division championship. Good promo, I’m loving the current presentation of Decay.

— We got our weekly AEW “paid ad” as Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone were joined by a group of heels from AEW to talk trash. Among them was Britt Baker, Rebel, Matt Hardy, Private Party, Ryan Nemeth, and Team Taz hyping up their upcoming matches on Dynamite.

— Havok talked to Nevaeh about working out their differences because of their losing streak. Nevaeh said she needed space. Tenille Dashwood walked up and tried to talk Havok into becoming a tag team. Havok said she wasn’t interested and walked away. She didn’t like the idea of “Havok with a K.”

Impact Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) defeated XXXL (Acey Romero & Larry D) in a non-title match

There is no backstory between these two teams. As of late, Good Brothers finished dealing with AEW’s Private Party and the Beer Guns team of Sabin and Storm. Last week, they antagonized the debuting FinJuice, only for the war of words to backfire on them.

This was close to being a squash, but XXXL did manage to cut off Anderson for a couple of minutes. Anderson quickly escaped the grasp of D and tagged in Gallows, who beat both D and Romero up. They hit the Magic Killer on D for the win in a good showcase for the Good Brothers.

— Over at Swinger’s Paradise, Chris Sabin and James Storm were playing when Rohit Raju and Mahabali Shera joined them and lost it for the whole table. Raju and Storm started fighting, but Sabin once again stopped them. Swinger said that he wanted to see the match and open up the bets. Raju vs. Storm is coming soon.

— Before their match, Myers walked out in street clothing and told Eddie Edwards that he wasn’t going to be wrestling him tonight. Myers presented his new attorney (“Smart” Mark Sterling) who addressed Edwards and Impact, telling him that Myers had sustained eye damage due to the unsafe working environment. He also mentioned that if Myers was not cleared to wrestle, he had a replacement ready: Hernandez.

Eddie Edwards defeated Hernandez

Hernandez has been Myers’ hired gun for the length of this rivalry with Edwards so it wasn’t exactly a surprise that he was his replacement.

The match saw Hernandez use his power advantage to run wild, cutting him off when Edwards seemed to be gaining steam. In the end, Edwards caught him with a second rope Boston Knee Party out of nowhere to keep him down for the three count. This was an ok match as Hernandez has been looking better as of late.

— Matt Cardona approached Myers and tried to apologize for the eye injury. D’Amore joined in and asked him about his new lawyer and told him that the only doctor that can clear him is Impact’s doctor. So next week, Myers vs. Edwards will take place and Cardona will be the special guest referee. D’Amore took a shot at the idiocy of an “eye for an eye” match.

Jordynne Grace & Jazz defeated Kimber Lee & Susan (with Deonna Purrazzo), earning a Knockouts Tag Team title shot

The group of Deonna Purrazzo has been feuding with Grace and Jazz for about a month now. Last week, Purrazzo asked D’Amore for Lee and Susan to get a shot at Fire ‘n Flava for the Tag Team titles, and so D’Amore made this a no. 1 contenders match against their rivals.

Grace and Jazz dominated early on until Purrazzo decided to interfere to give her ladies the upper hand. ODB ran down to get rid of Purrazzo with a brawl breaking out, forcing the referee to send both Purrazzo and ODB to the back.

After the referee regained control, Lee and Susan cut off Jazz until an accidental head collision dropped Lee as well as Jazz. Grace came in with the hot tag, traded some near falls with Susan. After Jazz took out Lee, Grace hit the Grace Driver for the win.

Grace and Jazz headed backstage where they found ODB taken out. They speculated it was Purrazzo after she and ODB had been sent to the back.

— Brown and Striker ran down next week’s card: James Storm vs. Rohit Raju on BTI, Myers vs. Edwards with Cardona as the special guest referee, FinJuice & The Good Brothers vs. XXXL & Reno Scum, and the X-Division #1 contendership match between Black Taurus, Ace Austin, and Chris Bey.

TNA World Champion Moose defeated Jake Something

This match was booked earlier in the show after Moose speared Something through a table as a way to get some attention from the office when he tried to hijack the show. In return, D’Amore made Moose’s TNA title official and forced him to defend it against Something, who had just won a tables match against Deaner.

Something attacked Moose during the latter’s entrance and literally stole his spotlight. They brawled outside the ring for a while with Something getting the better of the exchange. Once in the ring, Moose provoked him to come at him, and just like a snap, Moose retaliated and took him down.

The match went on with back and forth action. Moose and Something kept cutting each other off. Something was still hurting from the earlier table spear, so Moose kept going after his upper body while Something mostly went for lariats and bombs. The last couple of minutes saw both men trade strikes until Moose caught Something with two uranages, the ripcord lariat, and Lights Out for the win. This was a really good match. Something looked like he belonged in the main event.

After the match, Moose attacked Something with a chair, but Rich Swann, who wasn’t supposed to be in the arena at all, ran down and attacked. They got into a pull-apart until D’Amore came out to make it official: Moose vs. Swann for the Impact title at Sacrifice. Aside from the idea that Swann wasn’t supposed to be there at all, this was a good angle told throughout the show.

Impact Wrestling results: Bound For Glory fallout

Tonight’s show featured the fallout from Bound For Glory where three championships changed hands as The North reclaimed the tag team titles, Su Yung defeated Deonna Purrazzo for the Knockouts title, and Rich Swann defeated Eric Young for the Impact World title.

**********

The show opened with Eric Young and Rich Swann brawling backstage on their way to the ring. They brawled more in and around the ring until referees and security came down for the pull-apart. Young asked for his rematch now, but D’Amore wouldn’t give it to him just yet. Swann asked D’Amore to do it now too, and so…

Impact World Champion Rich Swann defeated Eric Young to retain

Swann was wrestling barefoot and in chinos. He was also recovering from a low blow that took place during the brawl.

This was not much of a match. Young had control early on and worked over Swann, but soon after, Swann recovered, hit the lethal injection and the phoenix splash to retain his title. This must have gone about five minutes.

We got the title rematch out of the way now, so both men can pursue whatever their direction will be after BFG.

**********

– We saw Nevaeh and Havok backstage where Havok confirmed that Father James Mitchell has been brought back to life. They walked away and headed to D’Amore’s office with the rest of the Knockouts roster where they all wanted news about the soon to be revived Knockouts Tag Team Titles. D’Amore was not there. Kaleb with a K, however, let them know the company just announced online that a tournament will begin in three weeks. Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz made fun of Alisha Edwards for not having a tag partner, but Jordynne Grace was there to back her up and challenged Hogan and Steelz to a match.

Tommy Dreamer defeated Brian Myers in a Hardcore Halloween match

Dreamer was still wearing Road Warrior Animal face paint and spikes. He’s really getting some matches out of the haircut. These two have been feuding for about a month now based out of Myers’ lack of respect for Dreamer.

This was an okay time filler match. Dreamer ran wild early when they brawled around the ring, but once in the ring, Myers gained control. They hit each other with walkers, garbage cans, crutches, kendo sticks, and chairs, but there was nothing really Halloween about it.

Then, Dreamer pulled out a bag with candy corn and thumbtacks when he dropped Myers from the top rope. The fInish saw Swoggle sneak out of a garbage can and low blow Myers, setting Myers up perfectly for Dreamer to hit a DVD through a table for the pin.

Hopefully, this is the end of this feud.

**********

– Gia Miller interviewed Rhino and Heath about what Rhino wanted for his title shot. He said that he and heath would be chasing the tag titles, but before that, they would go sign Heath’s contract. It was never brought up that Heath was legit hurt during Bound for Glory but it was made out to be obvious the two were covering something up.

– Reno Scum and Hernandez grabbed Fallah Bahh backstage to recover their money. Bahh told them he didn’t have the money anymore as he gave it to Bravo. After they left, Bahh revealed he still had the money.

XXXL (Acey Romero & Larry D) defeated The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz)

Neither team was able to make it to the four-way tag title match for Bound For Glory, so commentary sold this as a start on that pursuit.

The match saw XXXL dominate early on, working over Wentz with power moves. Xavier got the hot tag and ran wild over Romero, but eventually D joined in and cut off Xavier. The finish saw the Rascalz try to superplex D, but Romero broke it off, leaving Xavier down for D to finish him off with a top rope splash.

Both teams have been trading wins for a while, so it’s still up in the air to see where they go. It would be nice for XXXL to mix it up with other teams.

– D’Amore met with Deonna Purrazzo, Kimber Lee, and “Barrister” R.D. Evan who was there to make an argument for Purrazzo to get the Knockouts championship stripped away from Su Yung and awarded back to her. D’Amore said he was headed to the ring to address this.

– Miller interviewed Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin. She asked about Shelley’s health update and he said he was hurting and would be hurt for a couple of months. Sabin added that once they’re healthy, they’ll be coming for the titles. XXXL interrupted them and said they deserved to be the No. 1 contenders since they have been running over the competition. MCMG told them to screw off because they had nothing for them, and so in return, XXXL squashed Shelley, injuring him further.

Deonna Purrazzo/Scott D’Amore segment

D’Amore, now in the ring, addressed the Knockouts championship situation. He explained that Evans and Purrazzo had threatened legal action, but that after having reviewed the situation, Su Yung was the rightful champion.

Purrazzo, Lee, and Evans all walked out to the ring. Evans said that the only reason that Yung won the title was because something happened to Kylie Rae, likely at the hands of Yung herself, and thus Purrazzo had to wrestle an unknown competitor. Evans tried to make an argument that changing the title now would save Impact a lot of money, time, and problems.

D’Amore played the same game with Purrazzo, telling her that she could get her rematch next week and reclaim the title, or wait years for the court date and the process to find her in the right. This took too long to set up a title rematch that Purrazzo had the rights to anyway, but at least it was nice to see Evans on screen.

After all that, Yung walked down to the ring and put the mandible claw on both Evans and Lee, hit the poison mist on D’Amore, and then when Purrazzo tried to attack her, Yung locked in the claw on her as well.

– Backstage, Swann talked with The Rascalz and Willie Mack about having no days off now as a champion. Moose walked up to him and told him that he had the TNA World title and that made him no. 1 in the company. Moose talked trash. Swann got hot and wanted to fight, but instead Mack stood up to Moose. Swann headed to his locker room and came across Callihan and Shamrock, who also gave him threatening looks.

– We got a recap of Ken Shamrock’s Hall Of Fame induction, including brief clips of messages by Bas Rutten, Chael Sonnen, Bret Hart, Ariel Helwani, Mick Foley, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

– Ethan Page and Josh Alexander talked to some of the building security until the Good Brothers interrupted them. They talked some trash to each other before coming to blows.

– The Impact Plus Flashback Moment of the Week was Rohit Raju defending the X-Division title against Willie Mack at Victory Road 2020.

– Backstage, Raju was hosting a party for himself, but only Jimmy Jacobs showed up. Jacobs brought up that TJP had the match won, so Raju kicked out his only guest.

– Bravo confronted Bahh about him sending Hernandez out for him and told him he’d tell the truth to Hernandez. He shunned Bahh, saying that he was dead to him. By the way, Bahh’s attire for the wedding is a Ghostbusters Stay Puft marshmallow man sumo suit.

Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz defeated Jordynne Grace & Alisha Edwards

Even before the match, it became clear that Grace was not exactly excited about tagging with Edwards.

The story of the match was that Grace and Edwards had a lot of trouble working together with Grace wanting to command the match, but Edwards didn’t want to follow Grace’s instructions. So, Hogan and Steelz cut Edwards off for a large part of the match. Eventually Grace got the hot tag and was dominating by herself, but decided to tag in Edwards. This led to the finish where Edwards accidentally took out Grace with a splash. Steelz then rolled Edwards up for the pin.

On commentary, they sold that Grace and Edwards were a good team, but I just didn’t see it. After the match, they confronted one another which ended up in a shoving match. I can now unfortunately see the “team that doesn’t get along” make it far in the tournament.

**********

– Mack was headed to his car when Moose jumped him from behind and dropped him with a belt shot.

– Taya Valkyrie met up with Rosemary before the wedding. She tried to warn Rosemary that Bravo had become a bit of a lunatic in the past few weeks. Rosemary said she had better plans for Bravo than leaving him at the altar.

– Matthews and Rayne ran down next week’s card: Chris Bey vs Trey Miguel, Purrazzo vs. Su Yung for the Knockouts title, Doc Gallows vs. Ethan Page, and Rich Swann and Eddie Edwards vs. Eric Young and Sami Callihan.

The Wedding of Rosemary and John E. Bravo

Everyone was wearing costumes. Father James Mitchell was there to officiate the wedding.

The wedding went quick. Mitchell asked if anyone disagreed with the wedding and no one stood up. Bravo, in his vows, did some cutesy Halloween rhymes and threatened anyone that would ruin their day. Rosemary said that once she got a scent of Bravo’s virginal blood, she knew they were meant to be together and that no one from either realm would stop her from getting what she wanted.

They both said “I do” but as they were about to kiss for the first time, the lights went out. A gunshot was heard and when the lights came back on it was revealed that Bravo had been shot. Dreamer, still in full Road Warrior Animal makeup said, “Who shot Bravo? Nooooo!!!!”

This was far less eventful than I expected, but it seems that we are headed into a “Who shot Mr. Burns?” storyline with Bravo. Mitchell was fantastic as always.

Final thoughts:

This was an ok show, but not a strong one coming out of Bound For Glory, especially with the in-ring action. We got some hints for future directions of certain wrestlers, but nothing particularly big.

Impact Wrestling results: Rebellion go-home show

Opening recap focused on the ongoing feud between Ken Shamrock and Sami Callihan, building towards tonight’s contract signing. In addition, we got a recap of last week’s main event, when Josh Alexander of The North pinned the World Champion Tessa Blanchard when Tessa wouldn’t tag Eddie, and thus ended up getting taken out by Elgin moments later.

Johnny Swinger came down to the ring, and as he had promised, tonight he would wrestle a Young Buck M. Jackson. He introduced Mike Jackson.

Johnny Swinger defeated Mike Jackson

Mike Jackson was a 70-year-old buck with a hell of a promo.

Mike Jackson got a lot of offense early on, hitting ranas and suicide dives on Swinger. Jackson hit an arm breaker, then grabbed Swinger’s arm and rope walked all around the ring!

Swinger came back with an atomic drop, a neckbreaker, a deadlift suplex for a two count. He worked over Jackson’s head for a bit, until he went for the double ax handle from the second rope, but Jackson came back with clotheslines, a neckbreaker, the ten corner punches. As he went for more, Swinger rolled him over, got his feet on the ropes, and stole the pin. This was incredible!

Backstage, Ace Austin cut a promo on Willie Mack. Ace said that Mack had no good odds against him. He said that Mack shouldn’t be focusing on him, but on helping his best friend.

Trey Miguel approached him and told him that Ace was the biggest scumbag in the locker room. They got into each other’s faces until Ace asked about Trey’s mom. They ended up brawling.

We saw Ken Shamrock arriving at the venue. Scott D’Amore told him that there was to be no physical contact tonight, or the match was off. Shamrock that was ok, but he told D’Amore to control ‘his boy’.

TJP & Fallah Bahh defeated The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz), Reno Scum (Luster The Legend & Adam Thornstowe), and XXXL (Larry D & Acey Romero)

Romero and Thornstowe started the match, Acey used his size to easily control Adam with a shoulder tackle and clothesline him around. Larry D tagged in, and along with Romero, they squashed Adam in the corner with several splashes. Thornstowe hit a desperation jawbreaker to send Larry D into Wentz’s tag. Luster tagged in and double teamed Wentz along with Thornstowe.

Back from commercial, Reno Scum is still under control of the match, working over Wentz, who is desperately trying to make the tag to Xavier. Thornstowe got a two count with a standing moonsault. Luster with a scoop slam and the scum armpit. Luster locks in a sleeper and tags in Thornstowe, but Wentz finally manages to dodge Adam and tags in Dezmond.

Xavier ran wild over Reno Scum, taking them out with superkicks. Double team by The Rascalz for a two count, but TJP sneaks in a tag and gets in.

Everyone started taking turns hitting their signature moves until Luster was left alone with XXXL who hit a sandwich on him, followed by synched dives to the outside.

Back in the ring, TJP is fighting Reno Scum, who went for the Doomsday Device, but TJP escaped and hit a frog splash on Thornstowe, who was set up by Bahh’s Samoan Drop. Good short match.

After the match, The North came down and got face to face with TJP and Bahh.

Impact Plus Flashback Moment of the Week was Gail Kim vs. Tessa Blanchard from 2019’s Rebellion pay-per-view.

Rohit Raju told Gama Singh that he didn’t want to fight Hernandez because he needed to be ready for Rebellion. Gama slapped him and told him to respect his decision and think of the team. One day, Rohit will turn on the Desi Hit Squad and it will be great.

We got a video package for the feud of The Deaners and #CancelCulture, which was mostly a recap of the Cody Deaner and Joey Ryan match. Joey Ryan interrupted the production truck telling them to stop that video package and to play the video he had.

The video was a promo by Rob Van Dam and Katie Forbes from their jacuzzi. Rob said that he wanted to be there with Joey Ryan, but that they had to stay home to be safe from all the toxic masculinity of the Deaners.

Hernandez defeated Rohit Raju (with Gama Singh)

Rohit used his speed advantage to start the match, getting some offense, at least until Hernandez got his hands on him. Hernadez whipped him around, caught him mid air from a dive, blocked a sunset flip attempt and finally hit a pounce when Rohit tried to run at him. Hernandez then hit the Border Toss for the win. Total squash match.

We got a new talk show called “Locker Room Talk”, hosted by Madison Rayne and Johnny Swinger. Rayne asked him if he really needed to cheat to defeat Jackson, to which Swinger said it didn’t matter, he won anyway. Rayne’s guest tonight was Kylie Rae. She said that everyone had been really nice to her, that it was wonderful being part of the roster. She said she was excited to make her Rebellion debut versus Kiera Hogan.

Madison Rayne tried to get dirt on Rae’s thoughts of Hogan. She pushed Rae to say that Hogan was kinda mean, but Rae kept saying that she was nice.

Rayne then introduced Kiera Hogan as the second guest. Hogan told Rae that she’ll never be able to beat her, that she’ll humiliate her in the ring, and that she’ll show Rae that there are no friends in the Impact roster.

Rae snapped and told Kiera that she’s not very nice. This was weird, but it worked.

We got footage of a match between Michael Elgin and Eddie Edwards from Qatar Pro Wrestling’s Super Slam II show back in February. They didn’t show the whole match, they jumped around to some of the bigger spots only.

The crowd was surprisingly behind Michael Elgin more than Eddie, and so they switched alignments and Eddie worked heel, shielding himself behind the referee, going for the title as a weapon, which was even weirder when Brian Cage came to save Michael Elgin from getting hit by the belt. Michael Elgin won the QPW Middle Eastern Championship at the end.

X-Division Champion Ace Austin defeated Trey Miguel in a non-title match.

Match started with a great, fast paced sequence of counters and reversals. Trey was the first to gain control when he flapjacked Ace, dropkicked him to the floor, then followed with a rana.

Down on the floor, Ace gained control, dropping Trey face first on the apron when he countered a rana.

Back in the ring, Ace worked over Trey’s neck with kicks and by stepping on top of it. He landed a snap suplex then went into a submission hold, but Trey finally fought back and hit a desperation neckbreaker.

Trey dodged Ace’s rush, swept the leg then hit a missile dropkick to send Ace to the apron. Ace went for a disaster kick, but Ace dodged, hit a springboard spinning kick and went for The Fold, but Trey avoided.

Trey went for the cheeky nandos kick, the Trey19, and finally for a meteora, but Ace moved away. Trey went for a foot stomp, but Ace rolled him over, pulled the tights, and stole the pin. Great fast-paced action.

Willie Mack cut a promo on Ace Austin. He told him to not play mind games. He knows that Ace couldn’t get to him and so he went after his friend Rich Swann. Mack said that this wasn’t about the title anymore, but about showing Ace some respect, and to do so, he would beat him up and take that title from him. Bad promo.

Tenille Dashwood defeated Taya Valkyrie (with John E. Bravo)

Tenille came right in for offense, rushing Taya with strikes. She dropped Taya with a Headscissors and draping neckbreaker. Taya went to the floor, only to be followed by Tenille jumping from the apron. Tenille went to follow with another, but Bravo pulled Tenille’s leg to cut him off.

Taya, now in control, hit a superplex for a two count. Taya started working over Tenille, choking her all around the ring, even enlisting the help of Bravo. Taya hit the running hip attack and the running double knee for a near fall. She then locked up a single crab, but Tenille managed to roll over for a two count, only to get taken out again by Taya’s clothesline.

Continuing her offense, Taya kept landing knees and even choked Tenille, but she kept distracting herself with the crowd until she allowed Tenille to recover. Tenille then dodged her, blocked her attacks, and hit a kneelift and a running splash for a two count.

Tenille followed that with a double underhook suplex for a two count. Taya reversed a German and hit a Spear for another near fall.

Back from commercial, Taya had regained control of the match, trying to lock up Tenille in the Scorpion Deathlock, but when Tenille escaped Taya hit a Road To Valhalla out of nowhere for a two count.

Taya went for a chair, but the referee took it away. This distraction allowed Tenille to get one on Taya, reversing Taya’s fireman’s carry attempt into a roll up pin.

After the match, Taya attacked Tenille with a chair and a garbage can. Taya buried Tenille under chairs. Commentary kept asking if Tenille had no friends, or where security was. Neither came out. Taya just kept destroying Tenille until Bravo himself tried to stop her.

Taya pushed down Bravo and went for a top rope senton when finally, Jordynne Grace came out for the save with a kendo stick. Grace took out both Taya and Bravo with the kendo stick.

Jordynne and the referee helped Tenille to the back.

Tommy Dreamer and Rhino cut a promo on oVe, announcing that next week, Dreamer and Rhino are going to find a partner and finish things once and for all. Awesome promo by both.

We got a rundown of the Rebellion cards. Next week, Callihan vs Shamrock will be the main event.

We got a video package recapping Callihan’s I.C.U. hackings of the last months, all leading up to his return during Shamrock’s Hall Of Fame announcement.

Ken Shamrock came down to the ring first for the contract signing. Sami Callihan came out next and immediately told Matthews to leave the ring.

Callihan cut a promo, making fun that Shamrock couldn’t touch him because he would lose the right to get him in the ring, which shouldn’t really matter if all he wants is to hurt Callihan. He did bring up all of Shamrock’s accolades. Callihan then said that fighting him would bring the biggest buzz to Shamrock’s career.

Shamrock, completely stoic, didn’t say anything and signed the contract with his eyes fixed on Callihan. Callihan threatened Shamrock to not do anything because at the push of a button, he could hack his family. Shamrock finally snapped, but the lights went off and Sami disappeared. The lights kept going on and off with more and more of Callihan’s followers appearing around the ring, and then they all disappeared.

Shamrock chased him backstage and to the parking lot. Shamrock got a call from Callihan, revealing that Shamrock’s driver was working for Sami, and suddenly, his whole car was ganged up by Sami’s followers before the show went off the air. Great angle up until the weird follower stuff.

Final Thoughts —

Good show, particularly inside the ring. If we see this as the go-home show for Rebellion, it was somewhat weak, but given that Rebellion is broken up into two nights now, this was good enough build for the first night.

Impact Wrestling results: oVe vs. Tessa Blanchard & Daga

Impact Wrestling returns from the Sam’s Town Hall and Casino from Las Vegas, Nevada, for tonight’s episode, on the road to Bound For Glory. Opening video took focus on the ongoing story with Eddie Edwards and Ace Austin, The North’s beatdown of Konnan, and the events that led to Brian Cage getting arrested last week.

Twitch stream was hosted by Melissa Santos as usual, she ran down the show and hyped up Bound For Glory, as well as talking about the press conference yesterday.

Ace Austin defeated Eddie Edwards to qualify to the Bound For Glory X-Division title ladder match

Ace Austin made out with some groupies during his entrance. Ace got some more kisses while he had the upper hand during the outside brawls.

Match started with both men going for a strike exchange, which quickly led to Eddie tossing Ace to the outside, hitting a dive, and following him around the ring delivering chops. Eddie crotched Ace on the post, but when he tried to get the match back in the ring, Ace caught him with a kick to get some space.

Eddie went back to the offense and continued to chop Ace in and outside the ring, where Ace managed to snatch a cup with ice and smash it in Eddie’s face, slowing him down.

Back in the ring, it was now Ace that had control, delivering constant kicks to Eddie. Ace’s momentum didn’t last long when Eddie came back with Kobashi-like chops on the corner. Ace caught Eddie with a kick and uppercut in the corner, but Eddie slipped out and dropped him on the turnbuckle. Eddie followed with a super backplex.

Suddenly, out came Reno Scum to the ring, which distracted Eddie enough for Ace to sneak up a two count. Eddie hit a blue thunder bomb for a two count. Ace caught Eddie with a spinning kick for a two count. Eddie finally hit the Boston Knee Party, but Reno Scum pulled the referee to break the count.

Eddie dove on Reno Scum to take them out, but given the chaos, Eddie now went for his kendo stick. Eddie took out both Reno Scum, but lost the stick in the action. Ace hit The Fold, but Eddie kicked out. Thornstowe gave Eddie a piece of metal, which he placed in his armband, hit a hidden blade style strike to Eddie, and pinned him for the win. Good opener, but I’m surprised the finish is not leading to a one-on-one match between these two at Bound For Glory.

After the match, Reno Scum hit a Super Curb Stomp on Eddie, while Ace mocked him. I really wouldn’t mind if these three become a proper stable going forward.

Backstage, Taya is preparing for her match with Havok, when Rosemary walks up to her. Taya pretends she wasn’t looking for her, and tells her that ‘they’ have a problem because she has to fight Havok tonight. Rosemary tells her that life is not fair and she gets to watch. I love their relationship.

The Desi Hit Squad (Mahabali Shera, Rohit Raju & Raj Singh) w/ Gama Singh defeated The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel)

Desi Hit Squad jumped The Rascalz to start the match, eliminated Dezmond and Wentz in order to cut off Trey and focus on him. Miguel tried to fight them off and make a comeback against Rohit, but after dodgin a couple of moves, Raju swept the leg and tagged in Raj.

Raj continued the work over Trey, hitting a deadlift suplex for a two count. Raj and Rohit continued with quick tags and quick pin attempts, a couple of tag moves here and there.

Eventually, Trey managed to take down both Rohit and Raj and tag in Wentz for the hot tag. Wentz and Dezmond both came in and took out Raj with a kick combo, made sure that Shera wouldn’t come in, but when they both went for a dive on all Desi Hit Squad, Shera caught them both with Chokeslams. Trey followed and took out Shera.

Back in the ring, Trey took out Raj. All three Rascalz superkicked Shera, but he wouldn’t go do. Shera took Trey and Xavier down, hit a powerslam on Zachary, and dragged Raj on top of Wentz for the pin. Pretty good match, they’re going strong with Shera again.

It was officially announced that Dr. Wagner’s partners versus The Rascalz are going to be Aerostar and Taurus.

Backstage, Jordynne Grace is working out when Katie Forbes arrives and tells her to park her car. Grace tells her she is going to kick her ass tonight, which Forbes tells Grace that she’s going to need a bigger boot and then started twerking. This is gonna be bad.

Havok (w/ Father James Mitchell) defeated Impact Knockout’s Champion Taya Valkyrie (w/ John E. Bravo) by DQ

As the match was about to start, Tenille Dashwood walked out and joined commentary. Taya berated Havok to start the match, but Havok just went after her and started tossing her around the ring by the hair. Dropped her in the corner with a running splash, followed by running boots, and got a quick two count. Havok hit a Backbreaker, but Bravo distracted Havok, giving Taya the opening to hit a big knee to the face and turn the match around.

Taya hit a couple of running knees for a two count, tried to follow by choking Havok and hitting a couple of elbows, that they did nothing to Havok, who easily came back in control with a kick and another Backbreaker.

Havok now in control again, went for a Superplex, but Taya escaped by climbing the ring post from the floor side, kicked out Havok’s leg, and hit the Footstomp on the Tree of Woe for a two count.
Taya went for Road To Valhalla, but couldn’t keep Havok still, who took her out with a lariat and a Chokeslam, but Bravo pulled the ref and attacked him, causing Kid Ref to DQ Taya.

James Mitchell cornered Bravo, allowing Havok to pull him in the ring and take him out with a Chokeslam. Taya attacked Havok with the title. Tenille went after Taya and they had a terrible brawl that ended with Tenille running off Taya.

oVe cut a video promo saying that what Cage did last week is unacceptable. Fans shouldn’t be getting attacked by animals like Cage. Callihan said that tonight, while Cage is in jail, they take out Tessa and Daga once and for all.

Gabbi Loren interviewed The North backstage, asking if they should be focusing on their BFG match and not Konnan. Page acted like he didn’t know about Konnan. Rich Swann and Mack walked up and said that they’ll take the win at the PPV. Josh Alexander tried to add some fuel to the fire and say that Rhino and RVD are skipping the line while Mack and Swann had to fight to get their shot. Rhino and RVD walked up and said that they’ve been in line for decades.

Stephen Bonnar defeated Moose (w/ Frank Trigg) by DQ

Trigg joined the commentary table, he was really really good.

Moose easily took down Bonnar, messed around with him getting his back, but went to play to the crowd instead of focusing on Bonnar, so the MMA vet came back with a couple of kicks and slammed Moose to the outside. Moose raked Bonnar’s eyes to regain control. Followed with a couple of hooks to the ribs.

Back in the ring, Moose worked over Bonnar, striking him, but he kept mocking him and thus getting distracted, so once again, allowing Bonnar to comeback with a spinning kick.

Moose had to rely again to raking the eyes, but Bonnar kept coming back, now with a Spinerbuster. Bonnar went for a diving rlbow, so Moose desperately tossed the ref to the ropes, tripping Bonnar down, and getting DQ’d in the process. Bonnar was busted open bad over the right eyebrow.

After the match, Moose went to hit Bonnar with a chair, but Ken Shamrock ran down for the save. Shamrock dodged Moose’s chair shot and hit a belly-to-belly. Shamrock locked in the Ankle Lock, tapping out Moose. Bonnar made sure Trigg couldn’t make the save. It may be the shorts, but it looks like Shamrock has been skipping leg day.

Jordynne Grace defeated Katie Forbes

Katie Forbes came out with a pair of those new Kazuchika Okada ‘Rainmaker’ money guns and twerked her way to the ring.

Collar and elbow lock up to start the match, Forbes showed that she had some wrestling skill, but she was no match for Grace. Forbes has added some twerking into her lock reversals.

Jordynne took down Forbes with a shoulder tackle, then with a second rope dropkick, provoking Forbes to leave the ring. Grace went for a dive, but Forbes caught her with a strike as she was crossing the ropes, managing to turn the match.

Forbes went for some chokes and shoulder tackles in the corner, she hit a Handspring Elbow, but then started twerking again, giving Grace the time to recover, wedgie Forbes, and toss her shoulder first into the ringpost, which she followed with a running knee and elbow combo, ending with a Vader Bomb for a two count.

Forbes hit a Tornado DDT for a two count. She mocked Grace, but when she went for a fireman’s carry, Grace escaped, hit Grace Driver, and took the win. This was a lot better than I expected, but then again, I expected something terrible.

Backstage, Johnny Swinger tried hitting on Katie Forbes. She told him she dates RVD, to which he asked if they swing. Jordynne Grace followed and just pushed him down.

Impact Plus Flashback Moment of the Week was Christopher Daniels, Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Homicide, Suicide, and Amazing Red in an Ultimate X Match.

Backstage, Daga thanked Tessa for the help, but he can fight his own battles. Tessa told him that tonight they’re teaming, but at Bound For Glory, to each their own.

Backstage, Fallah Bahh was training while TJP is eating doughnuts. Next week, Bahh is wrestling Michael Elgin. Also next week, Rich Swann vs Josh Alexander vs Rhino, Rohit vs Sabu for another X-Division qualifier. Plus a battle royal for the #20 spot for the Call Your Shot Gauntlet at Bound For Glory, which was also announced that the shot won is open to any division, and across them.

Tessa Blanchard & Daga defeated oVe (Jake Crist & Madman Fulton) w/ Dave Crist

Daga and Jake started the match, pushing and slapping each other before Jake asked for Tessa, which was an obvious swerve to tag in Fulton. Tessa and Fulton got face to face.

Tessa went for to hold Fulton, but he just swung her around. Tessa took out Jake with a big tope suicida, but distracted herself from Fulton.

Daga did a blind tag on Tessa and joined her to drop Fulton, but the big man quickly recovered and took out Daga, ramming him to the ring post back first. Fulton hit a huge chokeslam on Daga, who tried to make a comeback, but Fulton kept control and Dave Crist made sure Tessa wasn’t there for the tag.

Daga went for a top rope hurricanrana, but Fulton blocked it and was going for a Powerbomb, but Daga escaped and hit a desperation Cutter. Tessa and Jake both tagged in and Tessa just went crazy on both Crist brothers, getting a two count on Jake after a DDT. Daga and Tessa teamed against Fulton and took him out with an assisted rana, tossing him to the outside, which Daga followed with a corkscrew press. In the ring, Tessa dropped Jake Crist with Magnum for the win. This was an awesome sprint, great stuff, but they had so little time.

After the match, Fulton returned and attacked both Tessa and Daga, hitting a chokeslam on Daga and the End of Days on Tessa.

We got video that Brian Cage had arrived at the arena and he was on his way to the find Callihan and his crew. Cage got to the ring and took out Jake, hit the F-5 on Fulton, and interrogated Dave about Sami, who came out with a chair, but the chair didn’t do anything to Cage, who choked Callihan.

All of oVe ganged up on Cage, allowing Callihan to low blow him a couple of times. oVe handcuffed Cage to the ropes, while Callihan fetched his trusty baseball bat. Melissa Santos came out trying to protect Cage from being hit, and as much as Callihan told her to leave, she didn’t, and ended up taking the Cactus Special in the middle in the ring, as they made Cage watch. Cage screamed for the referees to take her away as oVe posed over her body.

Final Thoughts —

This was a really fun show for Impact, it had some down moments with some of the Knockout matches, but the rest was really packed. Opener and main event matches were fantastic. Everything is heated up for the PPV, as we head to the go-home show next week.

Impact Wrestling results: LAX’s farewell match

Impact returned from Fronton Mexico in Mexico City as the Road to Bound for Glory continued. Tonight’s episode was being billed as LAX appreciation night, as this was their final show for Impact.

The opening video was a retroactive look at LAX’s time in Impact Wrestling, their beginning, their feuds, and the legacy they leave behind. Tonight, LAX have their final match for Impact.

This week’s Twitch stream was hosted by Melissa Santos, who ran down the show and hyped the Bound for Glory card.

Tessa Blanchard, Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer & Rhino defeated oVe (Sami Callihan, X-Division Champion Jake Crist, Dave Crist & Madman Fulton) in a street fight

Impact opened the show with a strong match — a main event any other night. The match started with the babyfaces getting face-to-face with oVe for a four-on-four face-off that came to blows and strikes.

Callihan and RVD stayed in the ring as the rest brawled to the outside. RVD had the upper hand early with his usual kick arsenal. He hit Rolling Thunder before rolling out and giving the ring to Blanchard and Dave Crist. Blanchard hit the corner Magnum and followed with a dive to the outside.

Dreamer and Jake Crist were now in the ring, with Dreamer hitting a fallaway slam. Then it was Rhino and Fulton trading strikes in the middle of the ring until Fulton took out Rhino. Dreamer went to fight Fulton, landing a cutter on the big man, but Fulton still took him out.

Fulton assisted Jake Crist by tossing him to the floor on everyone, Dreamer hit a top rope plancha to the outside, and RVD was next with a big dive to the outside.

Back in the ring, it was now Blanchard and Callihan by themselves. They started brawling and Blanchard quickly dropped Callihan with a cutter, sending him to the outside. Blanchard went for the top rope, but Dave Crist cut her off and hit a suplex onto the pile of bodies on the floor.

Back in the ring, everyone started taking turns taking out an opponent until Blanchard and Fulton were alone in the ring. Blanchard hit a tilt-a-whirl DDT to shake down Fulton. Jake Crist interrupted her Magnum attempt and landed a huge cutter for a two count when RVD broke up the pin.

RVD and Dreamer took out Jake and Fulton with a kendo stick. Rhino brought in a table, but before they used it, Callihan hit a double low blow. Rhino recovered and hit Jake with a Gore through the table, followed by a Five Star Frog Splash by RVD. Finally, it was Blanchard with a crossface tapping out the X-Division Champion. Blanchard had a bloody nose at the end.

The match was good for what it was — a sprint, given the amount of people in the ring and the time given.

Backstage, Ace Austin was in a wheelchair all injured after last week’s match with Eddie Edwards. Alisha Edwards was checking in on Austin. Austin said that it’s all because of her husband, but that he’ll be there for Alisha if she needs him. At this point, we have to assume he’s faking it all.

We got the first LAX Flashback Moment of the Night. It was LAX winning the Tag Team titles against Decay and Laredo Kid & Hector Garza Jr.

Backstage, Jimmy Jacobs interviewed The North, who were celebrating that LAX are leaving Impact Wrestling. The North were wearing ridiculous party hats and mocking LAX. Ethan Page said they’re going to look for people and have themselves a fiesta.

Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie (w/ John E. Bravo) defeated Alisha Edwards in a non-title match

They talked trash to start the match before Alisha tried to get the better of Taya from behind. Taya easily took her down.

Suddenly, Ace Austin got rolled down the ramp and left at ringside. Meanwhile in the ring, Taya just beat up Alisha with strikes and tossed her around by the hair. Taya hit a Super Dragon-style curb stomp for a two count.

Alisha had a hope spot when she hit a running dropkick to a cornered Taya and a short distance clothesline. Alisha hit a flatliner for a two count when John E. Bravo pulled her out of the ring. This provoked Austin to get up from the wheelchair and take out Bravo while neither woman looked.

Taya still caught Alisha getting back to the ring and hit the Road to Valhalla for the win. So much for Austin’s assist, but at least we all confirmed he’s perfectly okay.

After the match, Austin pretended to be injured again and made himself a victim for Alisha to care for.

The North were backstage recruiting people for their party. They bullied some people until they reached RVD and Rhino. RVD was down to party, but Rhino got tired of Page and destroyed their pinata.

Mahabali Shera (w/ Gama Singh and The Desi Hit Squad) defeated Cody Deaner (w/ Cousin Jake)

Shera going heel and being managed by Gama is the best thing that could happen to him and us — no more Shera Shake for now and maybe it will give the team a push.

Shera destroyed Deaner from the start. He immediately tackled Deaner to the corner, tossed him around to the other, and dropped him. Deaner tried to make a comeback, but Shera hit a big front-facing suplex.

Deaner hoped for another comeback, hitting a dive on the rest of the Desi Hit Squad. He went for a move from the top rope, but Shera caught him with a big chokeslam, followed by a Mark Henry-style powerslam for the win. Shera looked impressive size-wise. This concept has potential.

It was time for LAX Flashback number two. It was the LAX vs. OGz gang brawl in the streets of NYC. This was the Final Deletion-style climax to the LAX-OGz feud.

The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz, Dezmond Xavier & Trey Miguel) defeated Australian Suicide, Arez & Toxin

The Rascalz started the match with a triple moonsault on all their opponents, followed by a triple dive to the outside.

Australian Suicide and Miguel were the first in the ring, with Miguel getting the better of the match with a couple of ranas and arm drags. Arez came in and had a fast-paced sequence that ended with a brainbuster on Miguel to take him out.

Xavier came in and hit a kick combo and senton to remove Arez from the match. Toxin came in and hit a backbreaker to send Xavier out. Wentz took out Toxin with a plancha, and finally, it was Australian Suicide back in the ring taking out Wentz. They proceeded to take turns hitting dives outside, with Australian Suicide hitting a Shooting Star Press for a big pop.

Back in the ring, Miguel hit Toxin with Cheeky Nandos. Xavier and Wentz hit a Hot Fire Flame on Australian Suicide for the win. This was really short but super action packed — it was hard keeping up with the action.

Moose was walking around Mexico City cutting a promo on Ken Shamrock. He was out there trying to pick a fight to prove that he’s tougher than Shamrock. Moose beat up some people hanging out on a corner.

We got footage from Dreamer, Rich Swann, and Brian Cage talking about Cage’s bachelor party.

Tenille Dashwood had a sit-down interview with Jimmy Jacobs. She said that she came to Impact because she wanted to face off against the Knockouts, who she hadn’t fought before. Dashwood said that she wanted to fight Madison Rayne and Tessa Blanchard, but her primary focus was Taya and the Knockouts Championship.

Dashwood brought up that she was Taya’s first ever match and that she recognized that Taya has grown a lot — but she has too. Good stuff.

Havok defeated Su Yung in a no DQ match

Havok came down to the ring wielding a staple gun. She jumped Yung during her entrance and started to work her over outside the ring. Havok went for the stapler, but Yung bit her hand and took her down with a series of kicks and running knees.

Outside the ring, Yung rammed Havok to the ring post to get an opening. Yung set up a chair and used a drop toe hold to send Havok face-first into it. Yung did the Old School spot on the barricade, but Havok brought her down the hard way.

Back in the ring, Havok brought in a ladder that Yung dropkicked into her. Yung hit a draping Pedigree on Havok, only getting two out of it. Havok ran into a chair, but when Yung failed to schoolboy her, Yung took the stapler and used it between Havok’s legs. Yes, exactly.

This made Havok head to the floor, where Yung stapled her again on the breast. Yung followed with a running cannonball from the apron.

Back in the ring, Yung went for the Mandible Claw, but Havok came back with some kicks. Havok hit a Tombstone piledriver and pinned Yung for the win. This was an okay weapons match — nothing special aside from that staple that made me cringe.

After the match, Yung came back and locked in the Mandible Claw. Yung brought another chair into the ring and tossed it at Havok, sending her to the floor. They fought up the ramp and then traded forearms and started making their way to the back, brawling in the halls and stairways. Eventually, Havok tied a rope around Yung’s neck and straight up hung her from the stairs. I think the Undead Bride is deader now.

Next week, we’re getting the wedding of Cage and Santos.

We got footage from Santos’ bachelorette party. A lot of champagne, but no bubbly jokes. Taya made a toast to herself for being the longest reigning Knockouts Champion ever. Suddenly, cop stripper Joey Ryan entered. Between the banter of the attendees and Ryan, this was great.

On Cage’s party however, Cage was cheating — but on his diet, eating a ton of pastries. Swann and Dreamer left out of boredom and disappointment.

Barbwire Massacre III was the third installment of LAX’s farewell Flashback Moment of the Night.

We got another vignette for Johnny Swinger. He debuts next week.

We got a commercial for Ken Shamrock’s Valor Bare Knuckle event.

Rich Swann & Willie Mack defeated LAX (Santana & Ortiz) w/ Konnan

Santana and Swann started the match. They chained wrestled for a bit before going for a sequence of counters and reversals, ending with a stalemate.

Swann got driven to the corner the hard way — and the friendly play was over. Ortiz tagged in and hit a combo for a two count as they started working over Swann, but not long after, Ortiz started playing to the crowd enough to give Swann the time to recover and tag in Mack.

Mack came in strong and took down Ortiz, but thanks to the assistance of Santana, LAX regained control and managed to cut the ring in half on Mack. Santana and Ortiz traded quick tags, but Mack used his size to take out Santana with a superkick and get the blind tag to Swann and turn the match around.

Mack hit a big shoulder tackle on Ortiz, followed by the Samoan drop and moonsault for a two count.

Back from commercial, Mack was still in control of the match over Ortiz, working him with chops. Swann came in and traded strikes with Ortiz, who at the end managed to land a desperation clothesline for some space, but he failed to tag in Santana before Mack cut him off again.

Ortiz hit another desperation DDT on Mack. This time he got to tag in Santana, who came in with a huge kick on Mack. Swann tried to cut him off, but he took a double-team backbreaker by LAX, earning a two count. Santana went for a moonsault on Mack, but he got caught in mid-air, getting hit with a top rope neckbreaker by Swann.

All four men started trading moves in the middle of the ring until they were all down. Swann and LAX were up, with LAX hitting a powerbomb into Ortiz’s knees for a two count when Mack broke it up. LAX went for the Street Sweeper, but Swann broke out and hit a standing rana, setting up the Six Star Frog Splash by Mack for a two count.

The finishing sequence saw Santana make a stand against both Swann and Mack, but they ended up delivering tandem superkicks to both LAX members. Finally, a stunner, Phoenix Splash, and frog splash on Santana sealed the win for Swann & Mack. Great match.

After the match, the fans tossed money into the ring. The locker room emptied out to pay their respects to LAX and give them their goodbyes.

The episode closed with an update on Su Yung in the emergency room. She flatlined and the medics failed to bring her back, but then she came back to life, or undead life, whatever that means.

Final Thoughts —

Good and fun show for Impact. It felt like a big deal with the build to LAX’s farewell match, but it didn’t take away from the rest that was good inside the ring.

Impact Wrestling results: Elgin vs. Rhino, Tenille Dashwood debuts

Impact Wrestling returned to Fronton Mexico in Mexico City to kick off a new set of tapings on their road to Bound for Glory.

This week’s opening video mostly focused on the feud between Michael Elgin and Rhino, but it also featured The North defeating Reno Scum, the ongoing story between Ace Austin and the Edwards family, Moose calling out Ken Shamrock, Taya Valkyrie’s championship announcement, and oVe taking out Tessa Blanchard and Tommy Dreamer once again.

Golden Magic defeated TJP, Taurus, and Trey Miguel in a four-way match

TJP’s new Impact theme is so great — really energetic, as is Taurus’ entrance. Golden Magic, one third of the AAA Trios Champions, was making his Impact debut here.

The story of the match was that Taurus was the biggest guy, so they quickly started by sending him out. That was followed by an Asai moonsault by Golden Magic. Trey and TJP stayed in the ring with a quick sequence of reversals and counters that ended with TJP faking out Trey. Golden Magic returned to the ring to join the sequence, getting the upper hand on both with a pair of superkicks and a pair of cutters.

Golden Magic hit a top rope rana on TJP, sending him into Trey for a two count. Taurus returned and took out all three men with forearms and kicks, then hit a powerslam on Trey onto Golden Magic. Taurus got a two count on Trey with a flatliner.

Taurus was finally stopped when TJP and Golden Magic teamed up on him. TJP locked a double submission on both Trey and Golden Magic, but Taurus broke it up. Taurus then hit a double suplex.

Trey came back, taking out Taurus and hitting a double Pele kick on TJP and Golden Magic. Trey then hit a cutter and DDT combo on Taurus and TJP for an “Esto es lucha” chant by the crowd.

Golden Magic returned with a corkscrew and double underhook twisting suplex for a two count. Taurus took him out with a jumping plancha and a torture rack slam for two. TJP hit a tornado DDT to take down Taurus.

The finish saw Golden Magic pin Trey after a 450. TJP had a submission on Taurus while that happened. Really good opener — a lot less flippy and fast paced than expected considering the names, but overall it was great wrestling.

After the match, TJP went face-to-face with Golden Magic and claimed he stole TJP’s win.

Backstage, Kiera Hogan entered the locker room and told Chik Tormenta to take off. Vanilla Vargas came in and sided with Hogan. Jordynne Grace came in and they all started shouting until Madison Rayne interrupted them, broke up the fighting, and proposed a tag match for tonight.

Michael Elgin cut a promo backstage and said that Rhino will pay the consequences of getting into a war with him tonight.

Rich Swann & Willie Mack defeated The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz)

Wentz and Mack started the match fighting for wrist control, but they quickly started trading lucha arm drags and ranas. Xavier and Swann followed, also with a great sequence of reversals. Everyone ended up exchanging ranas into a stalemate.

Back from commercial, Xavier and Swann were still at it. The Rascalz gained the upper hand with some quick tags and double-team moves. Swann dodged a moonsault by Xavier to get the tag to Mack, who took out Wentz with a German suplex, then hit the Samoan drop and moonsault on Xavier for a two count.

Now in control, Mack and Swann worked on Xavier with a twisting neckbreaker for two. Xavier tried to make a comeback with strikes, which Mack blocked, but Xavier at least managed to tag in Wentz.

The Rascalz went for a tag move, but Mack blocked them and once again took it to Xavier, ending with a jumping rana by Swann and a frog splash by Mack for the pin. Good match, but it was a bit too one-sided.

All four men embraced after the match.

We got a video from Ken Shamrock where he addressed Moose’s comments from recent weeks. Shamrock said that he’s seen what tough guys look like and Moose isn’t one of them. Shamrock read out his list of accolades and said that he will be there for the Vegas tapings. Shamrock’s arms look unreal.

Melissa Santos interviewed Moose about the video. Moose said that Shamrock was an “attention whore” and that Moose is better than Shamrock in all ways. Moose said that if Shamrock comes to Las Vegas, he’ll take him out. Fallah Bahh interrupted Moose and challenged him to another match.

We got an announcement video hyping Johnny Swinger’s debut.

Santos interviewed Taya Valkyrie about defending the Knockouts title tonight. Taya said that she’ll defend the title against someone that everyone has been talking about and that once she does, she’ll return to Slamtown and celebrate breaking the record with her husband.

The Desi Hit Squad were riding horses in the Deaner compound and doing some hard work. The Deaners made them shovel a pile of manure and made them sleep among the horses. Rohit Raju is really enjoying this life.

We got a video package for the ongoing feud between Su Yung and Havok. They face off next week.

Sami Callihan cut a promo on Tessa Blanchard for interfering last week. He said that maybe Blanchard will finally learn to not mess with him and he said that he is now done with her and Tommy Dreamer.

Callihan said that he wants his World Championship shot and Impact management hasn’t given it to him. He said that if Brian Cage can’t get in the ring with him, then he expects to be granted the title. He gave management a one-week ultimatum for Cage to come out and give him his shot or oVe will burn the company to the ground. Good promo.

Taya came down for her match and cut a promo introducing her challenger. She cut the promo in both English and Spanish.

Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie (w/ John E. Bravo) defeated Big Mami to retain her title

The “big surprise” was Big Mami, which the crowd did pop for. Commentary straight up said they really hoped for Tenille Dashwood.

The first move of the match was Mami doing the Matrix to dodge Taya’s running clothesline. But from there on, Taya squashed Mami with forearms and kicks.

Halfway through the match, Big Mami had a hope spot when she hit a Stink Face and Bronco Buster, but when she went for a moonsault, she landed on her head. Taya locked in an STF for the submission win. The moonsault was incredibly scary — commentary couldn’t react to it in a serious manner and the crowd didn’t know how to react.

After the match, Taya bragged about winning. Dashwood then made her much-anticipated debut. She looked like a superstar.

Taya called her something that had to be bleeped out, so Dashwood took her down. Bravo tried to save Taya, but Dashwood took him out with The Spotlight. Taya ran away, and Dashwood posed with the Knockouts title in the ring. Strong debut for Dashwood.

Jordynne Grace & Chik Tormenta vs. Kiera Hogan & Vanilla Vargas (w/ Madison Rayne) ended in a no contest

Vanilla and Tormenta started the match, trading a couple of strikes and kicks. Tormenta had the upper hand early on with a fisherman suplex for a two count. Vanilla came back with a bulldog and tagged in Hogan.

When Tormenta went for the tag to Grace, Rayne pulled Grace from the apron. Grace and Rayne started brawling, so the referee threw the match out.

After the bell, everyone brawled around the ramp until Rosemary came down to even the odds and send the heels running. We got the announcement that this was now a trios match.

Jordynne Grace, Rosemary & Chik Tormenta defeated Kiera Hogan, Madison Rayne & Vanilla Vargas

Rosemary and Rayne started the match, with the latter doing everything possible to evade and run away from Rosemary. Hogan came in and did try to attack Rosemary, but Hogan took a sidewalk slam instead. Grace asked for the tag, but Rosemary made her wait.

Grace came in and ran wild on Hogan. She hit a couple of running attacks but failed to land the Vader Bomb. She and Hogan exchanged rolling pins until Hogan got a superkick in.

Tormenta and Vanilla tagged in and went back into striking. Tormenta earned a two count with a modified driver. Vanilla hit a botched Iconoclasm and followed with a corner spear, setting up for a springboard elbow for a two count. Tormenta and Vanilla took each other out with a double clothesline.

Rosemary tagged in, but Rayne and Hogan jumped off the apron and left Vanilla alone in the ring. Rosemary hit a Butterfly Bomb on Vanilla for the win. This wasn’t bad, but it was too short. Hogan and Grace looked great. Vanilla has potential as a heel, but she really needs to work on her wrestling.

The Impact Plus Moment of the Week was again Ken Shamrock vs. Malice for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship from the first NWA/TNA show.

Ace Austin was working out at the beach and tricked Alisha Edwards into meeting him there. Austin set up a fake mugging so he could beat up some dudes and defend Alisha. This was way goofy, but it played into Austin’s dumb egocentric gimmick. Alisha’s acting was terrible as usual.

Afterwards, they revealed that Austin had paid off Reno Scum to be the fake muggers.

Konnan and LAX were backstage when The North approached them. Ethan Page told LAX that they don’t belong in Impact anymore. Konnan threatened Page and Josh Alexander and demanded a Tag Team title shot.

Santana cut a promo saying that it was LAX that put Impact on the map again, which came off as a bit condescending if you ask me. Ortiz got hot and put their Impact careers on the line if they got a Tag title shot. The North accepted the match. Konnan was great, but Page outshined Santana and Ortiz by a mile.

Michael Elgin defeated Rhino in a falls count anywhere match

The match started at the ramp when Elgin rushed Rhino. They brawled around the ring. Rhino clotheslined the ring post to injure his arm, which Elgin targeted throughout the match. They traded momentum just ramming each other on the guardrails. Rhino was the first to go for a pin after dropping Elgin on the apron back-first.

Finally in the ring, Elgin slammed Rhino and followed with a springboard plancha for a two count. They traded strikes in the middle of the ring until Elgin dropped Rhino with an enzuigiri. They once again brawled to the floor and traded chops again.

Back from commercial, both men were still brawling outside the ring. Rhino was bringing out a couple of chairs from under the ring, but the distraction gave Elgin the time to recover and take the chair from Rhino’s hands. Elgin set up Rhino in a chair. He delivered a couple of strikes and a flying clothesline from the apron, earning a two count.

They brawled into the crowd and traded more chops. They started climbing higher into the crowd, which exposed that the show wasn’t all that packed.

After a couple of minutes striking each other, Rhino teased suplexing Elgin to the floor, but Elgin blocked and knocked out Rhino on his feet. They went back down to the floor, with Rhino regaining control.

They brawled up to the stage. Rhino went for a piledriver, but Elgin escaped and hit a lariat and a series of forearms for a two count. Rhino hit a suplex on the ramp for two.

Rhino brought out a table. Elgin superkicked Rhino and went to hit him with a chair a couple of times, but Rhino then used the chair to low blow Elgin. Rhino finally went for The Gore, but Elgin dodged him, sending Rhino straight through the table in the corner. Elgin followed with an Elgin Bomb for the win.

The match was okay, but it was nothing special. It felt long and tedious.

Final Thoughts —

The episode started strong, but it dragged towards the end. The crowd was really quiet, making matches like the main event feel a lot less heated than the action in the ring was trying to portray. The ongoing storylines did develop throughout the show in a positive way.

Impact Wrestling results: Cali Combat

Impact Wrestling returned to the West Coast for this week’s Cali Combat special episode from Port Hueneme, California. The show took place from the Championship Wrestling from Hollywood venue, which looks great, but the ring is considerably smaller than their usual one.

The opening video featured Moose defeating Fallah Bahh, Rosemary’s return, the ongoing story with Ace Austin and the Edwards household, Michael Elgin and Rhino’s feud, the build to tonight’s title matches, and — finally — Tessa Blanchard defeating Dave Crist in last week’s tag team main event.

The Twitch stream was hosted by Melissa Santos. She hyped Ken Shamrock’s return to Impact Wrestling and helped build up his ongoing feud with Moose.

Michael Elgin vs. Rhino ended in a double countout

The episode opened with the biggest match of the night. The match started and they went straight to trading shoulder tackles and forearms. Elgin was the first to be taken off his feet as he rolled out of the ring and stalled. Elgin returned to the ring, but Rhino stayed on the upper hand with a spear to the corner, forcing Elgin to leave the ring again. This time, Rhino followed.

After a couple of strikes outside, Rhino sent Elgin back to the ring. Elgin gained control, stomping Rhino and hitting a couple of Irish whips. They traded chops in the corner until Rhino couldn’t take any more. Elgin hit a scoop slam and several elbows for a two count.

Elgin and Rhino collided when Rhino intended to make a comeback. Rhino went for a running attack, but Elgin caught him with a uranage. Elgin went for a senton, but Rhino moved out of the way, sending Elgin crashing down. Rhino finally made a comeback with some strikes and a big spinebuster for a two count.

Elgin rammed Rhino to the corner and hit a running clothesline before going for a suplex, but Rhino kept blocking it, forcing Elgin to hit a discus forearm and German suplex combo for a two count. Rhino hit a desperation piledriver, but he couldn’t follow up with the pin quickly enough. Rhino hit a superplex, but once again, he was taking too much time to pin Elgin.

Rhino finally tried for the Gore, but Elgin got him with a jumping knee and a huge clothesline. They both rolled out of the ring, where they brawled to a double countout. That got huge boos from the crowd and chants of “let them fight.”

After the bell, Elgin and Rhino kept brawling inside the ring. They traded strikes until referees and security came out for the big pull apart.

Backstage, Elgin cut a promo on Rhino and told him that this isn’t over. Rhino chased Elgin through the halls and they brawled once again, with all the security chasing behind Rhino. This is heating up nicely. These two need to explode in an all-out brawl.

Impact Tag Team Champions The North (Josh Alexander & Ethan Page) defeated Reno Scum (Adam Thornstowe & Luster the Legend) to retain their titles

Luster looks to be in great shape — he has lost some weight and picked up some muscle definition.

Page and Luster started the match with a good old collar-and-elbow lock, but it took mere seconds for Luster to get the upper hand on Page. Luster hit a falling headbutt to the gut and a scoop slam before bringing in Thornstowe. Alexander tagged in. He blocked Thornstowe’s dropkick to gain control, then worked over Thornstowe’s head.

Back from commercial, The North still had control over Thornstowe and worked him over in the corner. Page landed a huge backbreaker for a two count. Thornstowe finally managed to get an opening after dodging a running Page and tagged Luster in.

Luster came in and took out both Page and Alexander with running clotheslines to each corner, a bulldog, and a running knee. Alexander took a huge spinebuster for a two count. Thornstowe hit a foot stomp on Page to take him out, but he still managed to break up a pinning attempt on Alexander.

Luster hit a suicide dive on Page, leaving Thornstowe in the ring to hit a Death Valley Driver on Alexander. But as Thornstowe went for a moonsault, he got cut off in the corner, where The North recovered and hit their finisher for the win. Good match — Reno Scum looked the best they have in Impact.

Backstage, Ace Austin pretended to be injured and asked Alisha Edwards to help him get out of his T-shirt.

Jordynne Grace was in her locker room when Madison Rayne approached her. Rayne, as the locker room leader, felt it was her duty to tell Grace about Rosemary and warned her that everyone who gets involved with Rosemary ends up hurt. Grace told Rayne that she doesn’t need Rosemary.

Havok defeated Alisha Edwards

Alisha managed to dodge Havok for a bit at the start. She got a couple of strikes in, but it was a total squash once Havok caught her.

Havok tossed Alisha around from the hair, hit a backbreaker, and choked her around the ring. Alisha had a hope spot hitting a top rope plancha, but Havok caught her, hit a Tombstone piledriver, and pinned Alisha for the three count.

After the match, Ace Austin came out to look after Alisha. But right behind him was Eddie Edwards, who chased Austin until Eddie mistakenly ran into Havok. Havok chokeslammed Eddie, allowing Austin to take off with Alisha. Eddie sold for Havok afterwards.

The video was then interrupted by Su Yung talking backwards Twin Peaks style.

We got a video promo by oVe where Sami Callihan blamed Dave Crist for last week’s loss to Tessa Blanchard & Tommy Dreamer. Callihan said that he will soon capture the World title — because he doesn’t care if Cage is injured or not. He said that tonight, Jake Crist won’t need help defending against Rich Swann. Good stuff.

We got a video interview from Moose as he walked with two ladies in LA. He looked amazing. The interviewer asked about Ken Shamrock being there in Las Vegas. Moose said that it was all Shamrock looking to get some attention and so Shamrock was coming after Mr. Impact Wrestling himself. Moose said that he’s been putting down legends for a long time and Shamrock was next.

X-Division Champion Jake Crist defeated Rich Swann to retain his title

Jake was sporting a new look with blonder hair, sunglasses, and a new vest. He started quick with a superkick on Swann and immediately had control. They traded reversals in a quick sequence that ended with Jake hitting a diving DDT that Swann countered, hitting a kick instead.

Back in the ring, Swann went for a top rope move, but once again, Jake caught him with a superkick. Jake went to choke out Swann, but Swann escaped and tried to pin Jake with a sunset flip that got a two count. Jake landed yet another superkick to keep Swann down.

Jake dropped Swann on the apron back-first for a two count and again went for the sleeper. Jake hit a Russian leg sweep, then followed with a submission lock.

Swann finally hit a desperation jumping clothesline to get some space to hit a striking combo and send Jake to the floor. Swann followed down and hit a senton from the stage. Swann hit a Savage-like flying elbow for a two count.

Jake hit a DVD for two. He tried for the Buckeye Drop, but Swann countered. Swann hit a kick to the head and the 450, but Jake managed to kick out at two.

Swann kicked Jake in the head one more time and went for the Lethal Injection, but Jake pulled the ref in front of him. That gave Jake enough of a distraction to roll up Swann, pull the tights, and retain his championship. Okay match — not as good as their previous one.

We got a vignette for Tenille Dashwood’s debut. She talked about wrestling all over the world and in some of the best promotions. She said that she wanted to wrestle in the Knockouts division and is going straight for Taya’s title.

We went to the Deaner farm, where The Desi Hit Squad had just arrived. The Deaners immediately made them wear overalls instead of their traditional clothing. Rohit Raju kind of liked it.

The Impact Plus Moment of the Week was Ken Shamrock winning the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship at the first-ever TNA show. Shamrock defeated Malice in the main event, which was refereed by Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat.

Taya gave her address about the Knockouts Championship. She brought up that she is on day 229 — and as of next week, she’ll be the longest reigning Knockouts Champion in history. She said that to celebrate, she will defend her title against someone new and big in Mexico.

Willie Mack defeated Trey Miguel

They worked a speed vs. power match with Miguel initially dodging every advance Mack made. But as soon as Mack got ahold of him, he dropped Miguel with a shoulder tackle. Miguel made Mack chase him around, leading to a sequence of reversals that ended with Mack hitting the Samoan drop and moonsault combo.

Mack, now in control, whipped Miguel around from corner to corner. Miguel went for a Fenix-like arm drag, jumping in the ropes, but Mack blocked it. Mack hit a kick combo in the corner and ended with a running cannonball. Mack went for the stunner, but Miguel countered, then hit a kick and a neckbreaker for a two count.

Miguel and Mack traded strikes in the middle of the ring. Miguel got the better of Mack and went for a top rope move, but Mack blocked with an uppercut. Miguel hit some Cheeky Nandos and the Trey19. He went for a meteora, but Mack caught him with the stunner for the win. Short, fun match.

Melissa Santos interviewed Dreamer about facing Callihan tonight. Dreamer talked about how Callihan is a bad person who is spreading negativity around the wrestling world. He said that tonight, he’ll enjoy beating Callihan up and making the world a better place.

Commentary announced that next week, Rhino vs. Elgin will take place with a falls count anywhere stipulation.

Sami Callihan defeated Tommy Dreamer in a no DQ match

The match started with both men going for the brawl style exchange of fists. Dreamer went for a Bionic Elbow early, but Callihan rolled out to the floor. Dreamer followed as they brawled around the ring. Callihan rammed Dreamer into the ring post. In retaliation, Dreamer attacked Callihan with the timekeeper’s bell and hammer.

Back from commercial, Callihan and Dreamer were facing off with a baseball bat and kendo stick in hand. Dreamer got the better of Callihan with a Russian leg sweep, getting an opening to look for some chairs to bring to the ring. That gave Callihan time to recover and land a kick, dropping Dreamer and getting some kendo stick shots in.

Callihan went for Dreamer’s DDT on some chairs, but Dreamer countered, forcing Callihan to only trip down Dreamer on the chairs for a two count. Callihan hit Dreamer with a chair, but he played to the crowd instead of going for the pin. Callihan set up a chair between the ropes.

Dreamer came back with some jabs and the Bionic Elbow. He faked out Callihan, sending him straight for the chair in the corner. Dreamer then hit a quick DDT for a two count.

Dreamer brought a trash can and a short ladder into the ring, but he ended up being hit by both for a two count.

Callihan set up the trash can in the corner and whipped Dreamer into it, but Dreamer stopped himself and sent Callihan face-first into the trash can with a slingshot. Dreamer followed with another DDT for 2.99.

Dreamer went for a piledriver, but Callihan blocked it with a groin claw and a drop toe hold onto a chair.

Callihan brought out a piece of plywood that he used to set up as a bed between two chairs, with the fans chanting “that’s a table.” Dreamer then countered with a groin claw and a piledriver, but Callihan got his foot on the ropes.

Dreamer set up Callihan on the ladder and went for a flying elbow, but Callihan got out of the way. Dreamer landed terribly on the ladder, becoming easy prey for Callihan to hit him with the Cactus Special on the plywood for the win.

After the match, Callihan went to break Dreamer’s arm between the ladder, but Tessa Blanchard came out for the save. She went to take out Callihan with his own bat, but Jake Crist came out and took her out from behind, leaving her open for a Cactus Special as oVe stood tall in the ring.

Final Thoughts —

Not much for a special episode. It was a fun and easy watch, but it really did feel like a transition show between tapings. The build for Callihan and Blanchard’s title chase moved on in a good way.

Impact Wrestling results: The North vs. Ortiz & Daga

Impact Wrestling returned from St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada this week as the Road to Bound for Glory continued. The Twitch stream was hosted by Melissa Santos.

The opening video focused on last week’s X-Division number one contender’s match that was won by Aiden Prince, Havok destroying John E. Bravo, Eddie Edwards confronting Ace Austin, and the fantastic battle between The North and The Rascalz for the Tag Team titles.

X-Division Champion Jake Crist defeated Aiden Prince to retain his title

This was a solid opener. Prince had the crowd completely behind him.

It started with some chain wrestling reversals and counters, ending with Prince sending Crist to the floor. But as Prince went for a suicide dive, Crist cut him off with a boot to the face and delivered a DVD on the apron for a two count.

Prince escaped a submission attempt — only to take a boot to the face for another two count. Both men traded strikes, but Prince wasn’t able to maintain momentum. Crist raked Prince’s face and hit some shoulder tackles in the corner. Crist hit a great superkick combo for yet another two count.

Prince finally started a comeback with some strikes, landing a top rope flatliner. But as he went for a 450, Crist got his knees up and small packaged him for a 2.99 near fall.

Prince hit a reverse rana for a two count. Crist powerslammed Prince into the corner before both men went to the floor, where Prince hit a rana and a suicide dive. Prince went for a top rope plancha to the floor, but Crist caught him with a superkick straight to the chin. Prince made the count at nine, but Crist went straight for a cradle for a two count.

Prince went for another top rope move, but Crist cut him off and hit a superplex. He floated over, but Prince reversed into a suplex of his own and landed the 450 for a huge near fall. Prince went for a third 450, but Crist caught him with a cutter this time for the win.

– Backstage, Konnan and Daga were talking about Daga teaming with Ortiz. Konnan asked Daga to be patient with Ortiz because he is on the edge about Santana’s status.

Ortiz then walked up. Daga told him that he doesn’t need to apologize — Daga just wants to win the Tag Team titles tonight. They cheered with some beers that Ortiz opened with his teeth, much to my cringe.

– Jimmy Jacobs interviewed Taya Valkyrie, who said that Impact management are forcing her to defend her championship against Havok again because she walked out of the match at Unbreakable.

Ace Austin defeated Eddie Edwards by DQ

Edwards didn’t wait for the bell and chased down Austin, taking him down with a shoulder block. Austin tried to run to the outside — only for Edwards to follow with a plancha. Edwards worked over Austin outside for a bit until Austin managed to land a kick and the handstand penalty kick to finally get some distance from Edwards.

Once recovered, Austin went after Edwards to continue brawling outside the ring. This time, Edwards dropped Austin with a backbreaker and a facebuster on the apron.

Back from commercial, Edwards and Austin were trading strikes before Edwards once again sent Austin outside. He followed with a suicide dive. Austin kept running away from Edwards, who got distracted with the referee and Austin took advantage to use his Gambit staff to attack Edwards for a two count.

Austin was now in control. He struck down Edwards and delivered the card cut between the fingers. He went for The Fold, but Edwards countered into a powerbomb.

Edwards delivered some close distance forearms as Austin tried to play mind games with Edwards, so Edwards hit the Boston Knee Party. Edwards started hitting closed-fist punches on Austin and pushed down the ref, getting himself disqualified. This was really good — I’m looking forward to a proper match between them.

After the match, Alisha Edwards came down to the ring to scream at Eddie. Eddie asked her if she is with him, pointing at Austin. After Alisha kept shouting, Eddie ended up walking away on both.

– We got an interview by Tessa Blanchard from Unbreakable. Blanchard said that she went in there looking to beat Sami Callihan, but oVe had to interfere again and steal her win. She said that she is one of the best wrestlers in the company and she won’t let them take her moment from her. Blanchard said she is coming for Callihan. Blanchard was fantastic here.

– Backstage, Fallah Bahh was at catering when Moose approached him. Moose told Bahh to stop losing weight or Impact won’t need a clown anymore. Moose called Bahh a fat boy, provoking Bahh to fight back.

Bahh and Moose brawled all around the catering area, ending with Moose shoving some cake down Bahh’s face. Good old catering brawl, but both men took it seriously.

– Kiera Hogan joined commentary for the next match.

Madison Rayne defeated Alexia Nicole

Okay match. Nicole showed potential.

A collar-and-elbow lock up started the match. Rayne mocked Nicole, who responded by pushing her to the corner. Nicole hit a running meteora for a two count. Rayne pulled Nicole to the floor by the feet and went back to mocking her.

Back in the ring, Rayne worked on Nicole with some knees to the face and abdomen. Rayne locked in a Koji Clutch, but Nicole stayed on her feet and rammed Rayne into the corner. Nicole hit a backstabber for another two count. Rayne dodged Nicole coming down from the top rope, hit a ripcord cutter, and finished her off with CrossRayne.

Rayne and Hogan argued after the match but joined forces to beat up Nicole. They’re frenemies. Jordynne Grace came down to save Nicole and ran both Rayne and Hogan away to the back.

– The Rascalz met at the tree house. Trey Miguel and Dezmond Xavier were bummed out about losing the title match. Zachary Wentz then told them he saw “him” in the hallway. They hyped “him” up and out he appeared like an angel — Rob Van Dam. They all sucked up to him and fought to impress him. This was funny.

Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie (w/ John E. Bravo) vs. Havok ended in a no contest

Taya’s title was on the line. Commentary told us that if she walks out again, she is getting fined.

Havok rushed at Taya to start the match, but the champ kept dodging until she decided to get some offense in — only to get taken down with a shoulder tackle. Bravo distracted Havok, allowing Taya to take her down with kicks and running knees for a one count. Havok came back with a powerbomb for a two count.

Havok worked over Taya’s back with stomps. Taya tried to start a comeback, but she got cut off by Havok with a kick to the face. Havok went for a chokeslam, but Taya reversed into a roll-up for a two count.

Havok hit the chokeslam, but as she pinned her, Su Yung and her Bridesmaids came down and distracted both Havok and the referee, who should have kept counting really.

Yung came down to the ring and faced off with Havok. Havok went for the chokeslam, but Yung reversed it by locking the Mandible Claw on Havok, bringing her down to her knees. Yung hit a couple of palm strikes and sent Havok to the floor. Yung stood tall in the ring at the end.

– Jacobs interviewed Melissa Santos about Brian Cage’s status. She talked about her real-life relationship with Cage and having to put it out there in order to protect Cage from Michael Elgin. She didn’t have an answer about Cage’s medical condition, saying that he is still going to doctors to figure out where the source of his injury is.

Santos said that if Cage can’t compete anymore, he and she realize that there are now more important things in life than titles and money.

– We got a video from last week with The Deaners drinking beer. They got interrupted by The Desi Hit Squad, who made fun of their smell. They brawled, with The Deaners taking out Raju and Raj and running off Gama Singh. The Desi Hit Squad came back, breaking beer bottles over The Deaners’ heads and leaving them lying.

– The Deaners then cut a promo saying that The Desi Hit Squad have crossed the line by jumping them at their bar. Cody Deaner cut the promo and challenged The Desi Hit Squad to a match next week. This was a super old school promo.

Nate Madsen defeated Stone Rockwell by DQ

This match didn’t even get entrances. Madsen went to get some offense early with strikes and a crossbody, but Rockwell cut him off and dropped him with a backbreaker. Madsen got some more strikes, but Rhino jumped in the ring on the other side and Gored Madsen down. Rockwell offered Rhino some food — only to get Gored too.

After the attack, Rhino cut a promo calling out Elgin to come down and fight. Elgin came out, but instead of fighting he addressed Rhino. Elgin said he understands why Rhino attacked him — since he is the hottest commodity in Impact and Rhino just wants to make a name for himself. Elgin said that he does things on his terms, so Rhino rushed at Elgin and started brawling on the ramp.

Security came down for the pull-apart. Good angle. Elgin’s mic was malfunctioning, but he got his point across.

– Ace Austin bragged about his victory backstage to some random people, who brought up that it was a DQ and that Austin got his ass handed to him all match. Austin said it was all part of the plan and said that he is “going to bang his wife.”

– The Impact Plus Flashback Match of the Week was Jeff Hardy vs. Rhino vs. Sabu vs. Abyss in a four-way Monster’s Ball match from Bound for Glory 2005.

– Backstage, The Desi Hit Squad accepted The Deaners’ challenge. The Desi Hit Squad said that when they beat them, The Deaners will become servants of Gama Singh. The official stipulation is that whoever loses becomes the other’s servants.

– oVe cut a promo where they mostly argued with each other. Callihan said that he defeated Blanchard again and now he is going to become the Impact World Champion. He addressed Tommy Dreamer for getting involved against them. Next week, Callihan & Dave Crist team up against Blanchard & Dreamer. Good promo.

Also next week, Bahh and Moose face off, The Desi Hit Squad take on The Deaners, and RVD teams up with Rich Swann & Willie Mack against The Rascalz.

Impact Tag Team Champions The North (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander) defeated Ortiz & Daga (w/ Konnan) to retain their titles

Page and Ortiz started the match, with the latter rushing at Page and getting the early control. They did a short sequence of reversals until Ortiz hit a powerslam and tagged in Daga. Ortiz and Daga hit a short combo before Alexander tagged in. Daga and Alexander traded strikes before Alexander was sent to the outside. Daga hit a tope on both North members.

Back in the ring, Daga hit a great suplex for a two count. The fans were chanting for Daga over their countrymen. Daga and Alexander kept trading strikes until Page interfered and cut off Daga, allowing Alexander to hit an assisted suplex for a two count.

The North started working over Daga with quick tags and power moves, keeping Ortiz at bay. Daga then had a great comeback, hitting a deadlift German suplex on Page.

Ortiz tagged in and took out Alexander with a series of kicks and a tornado DDT. Ortiz hit a DVD after a foot stomp from Daga, who then followed with a standing moonsault for a two count. The North hit their swinging neckbreaker combo, followed with a flying elbow and top rope moonsault for a two count.

Daga fought off both Page and Alexander with kicks, getting a two count. LAX set up the 5150, but Page saved Alexander.

Ortiz hit a tope on Page. Alexander tossed Daga outside, leaving Ortiz open for The North to hit their finisher on him and retain their titles.

This was really good given that Daga and Ortiz had never teamed before and the match only went about 10 minutes. Daga looked great here. Don Callis put him over huge, saying he is the next big thing coming from Mexico.

After the match, Ortiz thanked Daga. Konnan and Ortiz seemed to be introducing Daga to the crowd as the show went off the air.

Final Thoughts —

Really good show in terms of wrestling. We’re starting to get hints of what the Bound for Glory card could look like.

Impact Wrestling results: Mash-Up Tournament

Tonight’s Impact episode was a special one-night-only tournament edition, taped in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

The Twitch stream was hosted by Melissa Santos from St. Clair College in Windsor, where Impact is holding their new set of tapings. She joined tonight’s St. Clair E-Team vs. Impact Wrestling Fortnite tournament.

Josh Mathews and Don Callis introduced the show and presented the logistics of the Mash-Up Tournament. It is technically a tournament of Parejas Increibles like in CMLL, taking two wrestlers currently in a feud and teaming them together in this tag team tournament. The winning team will face each other for a World title shot.

Sami Callihan cut a promo talking about his match against Tessa Blanchard at Slammiversary and their Mash-Up team. Blanchard then said that she is the team captain and Callihan just needs to follow her lead.

Moose & Eddie Edwards defeated Rohit Raju & Cody Deaner (w/ Raj Singh and Cousin Jake) in a Mash-Up Tournament first round match

Raju and Moose started the match, but Raju tagged out quickly. Deaner went for strikes and took down Moose. Edwards came in and suffered the same fate at Deaner’s strikes, but Moose actually saved Edwards with the distraction.

Raju tagged in and got chopped by Edwards, but Raj Singh interfered, giving Raju the opening to get the upper hand. Edwards went for a comeback, but Raju went for the eyes and kept control, tagging Deaner in. Raju and Deaner went for a double suplex, but Moose saved Edwards again and they started working together like their old tag team days.

Deaner got rid of Moose, hit a powerslam on Edwards, and went for his finisher, but Raju tagged in and mocked Deaner. Moose took advantage of the miscommunication and took out Deaner while Edwards hit the Boston Knee Party on Raju to win and advance. Okay match, nothing special.

After the match, The Deaners and Desi Hit Squad brawled, with the latter getting the upper hand in this feud as they took Cody Deaner out.

– Jimmy Jacobs interviewed Ace Austin and Aiden Prince. Prince tried to answer the question about their match tonight, but Austin just cut him off and talked down to him. Austin said he didn’t even need Prince there, so Prince took off — leaving Austin without a partner for tonight.

– We got a commercial for Impact’s California tour in August for two specials and a set of TV tapings.

– We got a video about women’s wrestling, narrated by Tessa Blanchard saying that they will break barriers and continue to make history. This was really awesome.

– Backstage, Moose and Edwards celebrated their win.

Zachary Wentz & Jake Crist defeated Rich Swann & Madman Fulton in a Mash-Up Tournament first round match

Forcing enemies to team with each other, and now forcing a team to fight each other too as Jake takes on Fulton. Before the match started, Swann slapped Fulton to motivate him just like Callihan does.

Fulton started against Wentz, completely dominating him and tossing him around. Fulton went for the one-handed chokeslam, but Wentz dodged and hit a rana. Swann tagged in and did a sequence of rana reversals before Jake tagged himself in. Jake came in and hit a great kick combo on Swann, gaining control of the match.

Back from commercial, Swann and Jake were exchanging strikes and roll-ups, but it was Jake and Wentz that kept the upper hand. Wentz got a couple of near falls after a standing moonsault and a Last Chancery.

Swann made a comeback and hit an OsCutter, but he couldn’t get the tag to Fulton. Swann fought off Jake with another OsCutter, and this time he was about to tag Fulton, but the big man just got in the ring, took out Wentz, turned on Swann, an hit a couple of one-handed chokeslams before setting Swann up for Jake to pin after a fisherman’s buster.

Wentz & Jake advance, and I presume Jake earns a shot at Swann’s X-Division Championship too. Good action if nothing else.

– Backstage, Ace Austin asked Madison Rayne to be his partner by using magic tricks. Rayne rejected him, calling him a court jester. Considering that she doesn’t have a shot at the title, she should have considered. Adventure Man Stone Rockwell jumped in and took the spot.

Michael Elgin & Willie Mack defeated Stone Rockwell & Ace Austin in a Mash-Up Tournament first round match

Elgin jumped Rockwell and Austin before the match. He started with the upper hand on Austin as he tagged in Mack to take care of him. Mack and Austin did a short sequence of counters and reversals. Austin used his speed to get some kicks on Mack and killed any momentum Elgin and Mack got with the opening attack.

Austin and Rockwell had some team issues, giving Mack the opening to hit the Samoan drop and moonsault combo before tagging in Elgin, who came in to big chants of “Big Mike.” Elgin hit a couple of kicks on Austin before going for the Elgin Bomb, but Austin escaped and tagged Rockwell.

Rockwell got a suplex on Elgin, but distracted himself by playing to the crowd, allowing Elgin to recover and hit the Buckle Bomb and Elgin Bomb combo for the win. This was pretty much a squash.

– oVe cut a promo backstage saying they had plans for tonight with a series of “Finger Pokes of Doom” all the way to the finals, where Callihan would take care of Blanchard again and finally get his title shot.

– Jacobs interviewed Taya Valkyrie about the three-way match tonight. Valkyrie said that in tonight’s match, she wouldn’t be putting the Knockouts Championship on the line. Jacobs asked about Johnny Impact, but John E. Bravo acted as though the question was about him and said they’re not married yet. Valkyrie was disgusted.

Tessa Blanchard & Sami Callihan defeated Dave Crist & Trey Miguel in a Mash-Up Tournament first round match

Miguel was cosplaying as Callihan. Blanchard came off as a superstar tonight after her match against Callihan at Slammiversary. Even before the match, Blanchard and Callihan were showing a lot of miscommunication, but it didn’t matter because Callihan had a plan.

Callihan and Dave started the match. Callihan went straight for the Finger Poke of Doom, but Miguel broke the pin!

All four competitors argued in the ring, which ended with Blanchard and Miguel kind of teaming up to take care of Callihan and Dave. Miguel went for a suicide dive on Callihan, but he got out of the way and Miguel took out Dave.

Miguel went at it again — and this time took out both oVe members. Callihan retaliated by going after Miguel’s eyes, chopping him, and when he went for the spit chop, Miguel woke up and superkicked him.

Back in the ring, Callihan worked over Miguel, and as much as Blanchard and the fans chanted for a tag, Callihan wouldn’t tag in Blanchard. Miguel dodged some lariats and went for a tornado DDT, but Callihan reversed it and took out Miguel.

Blanchard finally tagged herself in and got slammed onto Miguel in return. Blanchard hit a running elbow and kick combo on Miguel, only for Callihan to chop Blanchard in the back as a tag. Blanchard responded by slamming Callihan over Miguel this time.

Callihan continued working on Miguel, but kept getting distracted by Blanchard, allowing Miguel to hit a Cheeky Nandos kick and the Trey19, but he failed to land the meteora.

Dave and Blanchard tagged in, with the latter going strike crazy on Dave. Blanchard hit a cutter and the corner codebreaker for a two count. She went for Magnum, but Dave dodged. Dave hit a version of the GTR before Miguel tagged in again. Blanchard fought off both Dave and Miguel before eating a Square & Compass by Miguel and a DDT by Dave. Callihan broke up the pin.

Miguel went for the Cactus Special, but Blanchard reversed to a roll-up for a two count. She spiked Miguel with a tilt-a-whirl DDT, getting the opening to tag in Callihan, who took some kicks by Miguel, but reversed the Cactus Special.

Blanchard hit Magnum and Sami hit the Cactus Special to pick up the win. Really good and fun match. The finals is a four-way elimination match with all the winning teams.

– Backstage, Blanchard and Callihan argued about their team dynamic.

– The Impact Plus Moment of the Week was oVe vs. Tommy Dreamer, Eddie Edwards & Moose in a street fight from Redemption.

Havok defeated Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie (w/ John E. Bravo) and Madison Rayne in a non-title triple threat match

Taya and Rayne tried to team up against the bigger Havok, but it was to no avail, as Havok simply took out Taya and tossed Rayne to the buckle. Taya returned with strikes on Havok and set up the running hip attack and knees to the corner. Rayne took advantage and hit Taya with an enzuigiri, but Taya took care of her too.

Havok returned to the match, choked Taya, and tossed her around by the hair a couple of times. Bravo distracted the referee, allowing Taya to rake the eyes and give Rayne the opening for a DDT on Havok. Taya speared Rayne, but ate a big boot by Havok before going down herself.

All three exchanged strikes in the middle of the ring, with Havok winning the battle. Havok carried both women and hit a Samoan drop and fallaway slam combo on both. Havok hit a couple of running boots on Taya before Bravo saved Taya by pulling her away from the match.

Rayne went for a hurricanrana, but Havok blocked it and hit a piledriver for the win. Taya and Bravo ran away.

– Jacobs interviewed Elgin backstage. Elgin said that it was perfect that once he wins the tournament tonight, he beats Mack at Unbreakable. He also talked about his upcoming non-title match with Impact World Champion Brian Cage.

Tessa Blanchard & Sami Callihan defeated Eddie Edwards & Moose, Micheal Elgin & Willie Mack, and Zachary Wentz & Jake Crist in the Mash-Up Tournament finals

The match was going to start with Blanchard and Edwards, but Callihan and Blanchard kept distracting each other by tagging in and out, which gave Edwards the opening to start with the upper hand.

Callihan and Edwards exchanged some strikes until Moose tagged himself in. He was going for the big discus lariat, but Callihan grabbed the Groin Claw. Edwards returned to the match to exchange a couple of more strikes. Edwards and Callihan played cat and mouse a bit until Elgin tagged himself in on Callihan.

Elgin and Edwards traded strikes for the first time in Impact. Edwards dove on Callihan and a brawl spilled out outside the ring with all competitors involved. Moose powerbombed Edwards on top of everyone outside.

Back from commercial, Elgin and Moose were wrestling and exchanged German suplexes. Edwards and Elgin went at it again and did an awesome exchange of forearms and kicks.

Mack came in, took out Edwards, and hit a tope con giro on everyone outside. Elgin hit a back fist, the Buckle Bomb, and the Elgin Bomb to eliminate the team of Edwards & Moose.

Callihan tossed Wentz into the ring while he brawled with Mack outside. Wentz went for some kicks, but Elgin blocked him. Wentz got a corkscrew for a two count. Mack and Jake came in. Mack went for the standing moonsault, but Jake got his knees up. Instead of tagging Wentz, Jake tagged in Callihan.

Callihan worked over Mack for a bit before Mack came back with the Samoan drop and moonsault combo. Elgin got in the ring and took out Wentz and Jake before Blanchard stepped up to him. Callihan in a way saved Blanchard by taking her out, but ate a forearm by Elgin instead.

Elgin took out his partner Mack and left the match. Does he remember there is a World title shot on the line? Callihan took out Mack with the Cactus Special to formally eliminate Elgin & Mack.

We found ourselves in the same situation as before, but Blanchard and Callihan actually acted like a team this time around and got into a kick fight with Wentz and Jake, the latter earning a two count on Blanchard after a spinning kick, but Callihan broke it up.

Callihan and Jake went face to face. They went for the Finger Poke of Doom, but Jake tried to roll-up Callihan instead for a two count. They fought and superkicked each other, ending with Callihan hitting the Cactus Special, followed by Magnum from Blanchard for the win.

It will be Blanchard vs. Callihan II at the Unbreakable Impact Plus special on August 2 with a shot at the World title on the line.

Final thoughts —

This was an interesting show. It was self contained, and while it’s not following the fallout of Slammiversary, the title contention on the line between Blanchard and Callihan is a big story development that surely builds all the way to Bound for Glory. The wrestling was good — with some fun tag matches.

Impact Wrestling results: Elgin vs. Mack, RVD & Sabu vs. The North

Air date: June 14, 2019

The Big Takeaway —

Michael Elgin got a win over Willie Mack ahead of his upcoming title match against Impact World Champion Brian Cage at Slammiversary XVII on July 7.

The North earned a Tag Team title shot at Bash at the Brewery on July 5 by defeating Rob Van Dam & Sabu. The Sandman also wrestled on the show. What year is this?

Two of the six matches on the episode saw wrestler’s pants fall down. The Twitch version of the show was riddled with technical issues during commercial breaks.

Show Recap —

A storyline recap video kicked off the show.

Josh Mathews welcomed us to the Melrose Ballroom in New York.

Mathews and Don Callis talked up the Moose and RVD feud. Moose has challenged RVD to face him at Slammiversary.

RVD got a tag, then he and Sabu used tandem leg drops for a near fall. The North used an illegal double team to gain the advantage on RVD. Alexander hit an inverted atomic drop, and Page hit a backbreaker.

The North used a series of quick tags and worked RVD over in their corner. Page missed a charge into the corner. RVD hit an enzuigiri, then Sabu got a hot tag. Sabu ran wild with a chair and used the weapon to hit a step-up leg lariat.

Sabu and RVD set up a table in the ring. Sabu hit an Arabian facebuster off the top rope to Alexander, sending him through the table. Moose ran out and shoved RVD off the post.

Page used the distraction to jump in and take out Sabu. Sabu’s pants fell down. The North hit their double-team finisher, with Alexander pinning Sabu.

Mathews said that Page and Alexander earned a tag title shot at Bash at the Brewery with their win.

Tommy Dreamer waddled out to the ring, throwing Moose back inside. They teased RVD hitting a Van Terminator, but Moose escaped.

RVD looked good here, considering the mileage on his body. Sabu’s botch and pants falling down were very on-brand.

**********

During the commercial break on Twitch, they showed a split screen of Don Callis and Melissa Santos. Callis tried to throw it to Santos, but Santos couldn’t hear him. Callis asked why she couldn’t hear him. Santos’ audio wasn’t working either. Callis gave shout-outs to Twitch users in the chat. This was embarrassing.

**********

**********

Sami Callihan entered the women’s locker room. Tessa Blanchard told him to bring his friend Jake Crist next week to face her.

**********

Madison Rayne defeated Jordynne Grace

Kiera Hogan came out to join the commentary team for this match. She said she’s done making friends in this business, because she always gets stabbed in the back.

Grace and Rayne locked up. They did some solid chain wrestling, and Rayne used a quick cradle for a near fall. Rayne escaped a side headlock, but ran into a shoulder tackle. Rayne rolled to the apron, and Grace knocked her off into the barricade.

Back inside, Grace hit a back elbow for a near fall. She followed with a delayed vertical suplex for a two count. Grace hit some forearm strikes. Rayne used a Koji Clutch, but Grace sat down into a submission of her own. Rayne escaped, then they traded a series of quick cradles.

Sandman managed a couple of kendo stick shots, but Kross caught him in a choke, and the ref called a stoppage finish.

Eddie Edwards ran down to make the save for Sandman. Kross escaped before Edwards could get his hands on him. Mathews said that Edwards and Kross’ feud may end with someone in a body bag.

**********

Mack hit a spinebuster for a two count. He went for a stunner, but Elgin blocked it. Elgin hit a series of superkicks. Elgin sat Mack on the top rope and hit a superplex for a two count. Mack’s trunks started falling down.

Elgin missed a charge into the corner. Mack hit something resembling a guillotine leg drop, dropping Elgin to the floor. Mack teased a dive, but Elgin pulled Swann in his way. Elgin slammed Swann on the apron.

Back inside, Elgin hit a buckle bomb, then an Elgin Bomb, and pinned Mack. This was a slightly above average TV match.

After the bell, Elgin teased another Elgin Bomb, but Swann made the save. Johnny Impact ran in, making the save for Elgin. Johnny dropped Swann with a spinning uranage.

Elgin shook hands with Johnny. Johnny turned his back, and Elgin hit him with a suplex. Elgin then went after Mack again. He buckle bombed him into the post. The show ended with Elgin making the championship belt motion around his waist.

Impact Wrestling results: LAX vs. The Rascalz, Taya vs. Rosemary

Impact Wrestling returned from the 2300 Arena this week for the final episode of the Philadelphia tapings.

This week’s main event was LAX defending their Tag Team titles against The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz). In addition, Rosemary took on Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie in a non-title match, oVe faced Fallah Bahh & Scarlet Bordeaux, and Kiera Hogan battled Jordynne Grace.

The video recap of last week’s episode touched on the ECW originals taking on Moose & The North, Tessa Blanchard knocking out Glenn Gilbertti, LAX and The Rascalz agreeing to tonight’s match, the street fight between Eddie Edwards and Killer Kross, and the announcement that Brian Cage will return at Slammiversary to defend his World title against Michael Elgin.

The Twitch stream was hosted by Melissa Santos from Impact’s new set of tapings at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York. There were several cameos from the roster.

Ace Austin defeated Cousin Jake (w/ Cody Deaner)

This was a speed vs. power match with Austin using his speed and kicks to take down Jake, but as soon as Jake would get his hands on Austin, he’d stop him and drop him. There was some miscommunication on a spot to get Jake outside for Austin to do his headstand into a kick, so they repeated the spot.

Once outside, Austin dove, only to get caught by Jake and slammed onto the apron. Jake followed with a running splash on the apron too, getting a two count.

Austin went for a Disaster Kick, but Jake just blocked him. Jake went for a spear to the corner, but Austin dodged, distracted the referee, and paper cut Jake’s hand. Austin hit a kick and a famouser for a two count.

Austin worked on the same injured hand, attempting a Kimura or a Vice, but Jake slowly started to power up and flip Austin off. Austin chopped Jake to no avail, so he hit another kick and the Curb Stomp, setting up The Fold, but Jake recovered and hit a huge lariat to earn himself a couple of seconds to recover.

Jake hit a close distance clothesline and a Michinoku Driver for a two count. Jake hit the corner spear, but suddenly, the Desi Hit Squad attacked Cody Deaner outside the ring, distracting Jake enough for Austin to hit The Fold for the win. Pretty good match — both men have a lot of potential.

– Melissa Santos interviewed Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie about facing Rosemary tonight. Taya said that she has moved on from fighting Rosemary and now Rosemary is crawling her way back to the championship. She said that tonight, she reminds Rosemary who she is.

Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie defeated Rosemary (w/ Su Yung) by DQ in a non-title match

The match started and Rosemary stayed distracted with Yung, giving Taya the opening to tackle Rosemary down and deliver a set of strikes, stomps, and hip attacks. Taya hit running knees to the corner.

Rosemary recovered and locked in the Upside Down to earn some distance. She went for a missile dropkick, but Taya dodged and hit a release German suplex in return. Rosemary got a desperation slingblade and a reverse DDT for a two count.

Rosemary hit a spear for another two count. She then followed with a Koji Clutch, but suddenly, James Mitchell brought out Jessicka Havok.

Havok and Rosemary had a staredown before Rosemary went to punch Havok, only to get blocked and taken down with one clothesline. Havok delivered a Tombstone piledriver on Rosemary.

Taya tried to run, but Havok caught her with a chokeslam. Mitchell released Yung from her chains. Yung, Havok, and Mitchell all left together. The match was pretty bad, but the ending angle saved it.

– The Rascalz were in the treehouse preparing for tonight’s main event against LAX. Trey Miguel wants to fight tonight, but he’ll just be out there supporting Zachary Wentz and Dezmond Xavier. Miguel’s character, like Ortiz, seems to be developing a drinking problem.

– The Impact Plus Flashback Moment of the Week was Shane Douglas vs. Raven in a hair vs. hair match from September 17, 2003.

– Backstage, Eddie Edwards thanked The Sandman for his help last week and told him that he can’t accept Sandman’s kendo stick because it’s not Kenny. Sandman drew a face on the stick and Eddie accepted it. This wasn’t good.

– We got a video showcasing Brian Cage’s recovery and him training to get back in the ring.

– Backstage, Michael Elgin cut a promo on Cage, telling him that he has proven that he can destroy Brian Cage. Elgin said that while Cage is at home being a coward, he’s out there sending people to the hospital. Elgin said that next week, he is sending Willie Mack to the hospital once and for all.

Madman Fulton (w/ Sami Callihan) defeated Firework Foxx Vinyer and his partner in a two-on-one handicap match

Fulton quickly took both men down with a double clothesline. Fulton went on to suplex one man onto the other, bite them, take them out with big boots, and hit chokeslams. He delivered a double chokeslam and hit the End of Days on one man onto the other for the pin. Total dominant squash.

After the match, Callihan cut a promo against the Knockouts division and brought out Jake & Dave Crist for their tag match.

oVe (Jake & Dave Crist) defeated Fallah Bahh & Scarlett Bordeaux

Jake and Bahh started the match, with Bahh getting the early advantage thanks to his size. Early on, Callihan and Fulton tried to get involved, so the referee sent them to the back.

In the ring, Bahh hit an elbow and a running splash in the corner on Dave. Bahh went for another, but Dave dodged and tagged in Jake, who came in and managed to cut off Bahh from his corner.

oVe worked with quick tags and kept Bahh down. They choked him against the ropes and went after his eyes over and over again. After a couple of minutes of torture, Bahh started to power up and slapped himself into a comeback, only to get cut off again.

Eventually, Bahh caught Jake with a kick and tossed Dave to the outside, but he still couldn’t tag Bordeaux. Jake thought he could piledrive Bahh, but he ended up getting hit with a Banzai Drop from Bahh. Finally, Bordeaux got the tag.

Bordeaux came in hot and hit a couple of hurricanranas and hip attacks on the Crist brothers. Bordeaux hit a flying crossbody and sent both Crists to the outside, setting them up for a Fallah Bahh tope suicida. Bordeaux followed with a top rope senton to the floor.

Back in the ring, Jake slammed Bordeaux and went for a Doomsday Device, but Bahh blocked Dave, allowing Bordeaux to hit a reverse rana on Jake. Bahh set up Dave for the Doomsday Device, which Bordeaux hit, earning a two count.

Bordeaux got on Bahh’s back and they went for the double Banzai Drop, but Dave dodged, grabbed a roll of quarters, and knocked Bahh out to steal the win.

This match got “this is awesome” chants. Bahh has lost a lot of weight and seems to be trying to change his moveset and do less comedy. Bordeaux looked great here too.

After the match, the Crist brothers attacked Bordeaux, but Tessa Blanchard came out for the save. Blanchard took on both Crists, dodging a superkick by Jake, who hit Dave. She low blowed Jake and hit the Magnum to send them packing. The crowd popped huge for Blanchard — she looked like a superstar.

– Santos interviewed Rich Swann and Willie Mack. She asked Mack about Elgin. Mack said that he’s not scared of Elgin and next week, he’ll teach him what The Mack is all about. Swann told Mack that he’ll have his back.

Johnny Impact interrupted them and told Swann that come Slammiversary, he’s cashing in his X-Division title shot. Johnny’s promo was amazing.

– Out in the parking lot, Callihan berated oVe for being embarrassed in the ring by Blanchard. Callihan threatened Blanchard that they’re not done.

Jordynne Grace defeated Kiera Hogan

Grace offered Hogan a handshake to start the match, but the now-heel Hogan rejected the offer. They started with a short sequence of reversals with Hogan having the speed advantage, getting the better of Grace, who had the power advantage and only needed to get her hands on Hogan to stop her.

Grace got an early two count after a second rope senton. She followed with a delayed Jackhammer for another two count. Hogan pleaded for forgiveness, but instead tried to cheap shot Grace, who caught her with a slap. The distraction was enough for Hogan to get a couple of kicks in afterwards in the corner, earning a one count.

Hogan choked Grace against the ropes and in the middle of the ring with a sleeper. She went for a suplex, but Grace simply used her power and hit her own suplex instead.

Hogan went for a knee version of Eat Defeat for a two count. She kicked Grace until Grace made a comeback and delivered a great desperation spinebuster. Grace slammed Hogan against the corner and hit a running knee and a Vader Bomb for a two count.

Grace went for a superplex, but Hogan escaped and went for a sunset bomb instead. After failing at that, Hogan superkicked Grace’s knee out and hit a neckbreaker instead for another two count.

Grace slammed Hogan for a two count, then followed with the Grace Driver for the win.

This was a great match, Hogan has improved so much since her last one-on-one match on Impact.

– LAX were in their clubhouse. Instead of preparing for their title defense tonight, Santana was sleeping and Ortiz was eating. Konnan berated them for not taking this seriously.

– Backstage, Moose cut a promo on the old ECW wrestlers, saying that they keep coming back and taking spots from others because they need to pay the rent. Moose challenged Rob Van Dam to a match at Slammiversary. Moose said that until RVD says yes, he’ll make his life a living hell.

Impact Tag Team Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz) w/ Konnan defeated The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz) w/ Trey Miguel by DQ

Wentz and Ortiz started the match with some chain wrestling and a couple of reversals, with Ortiz getting the upper hand early. They sped up to a series of reversals, with The Rascalz starting to do quick tags and getting rid of Ortiz after a Bronco Buster by Wentz.

Santana came in and got taken out with a kick combo. With both LAX members outside the ring, Wentz and Xavier dove to the outside.

Back in the ring, Wentz got the first near fall after a Swanton Bomb on Ortiz, only to have Santana make the save.

Back from commercial, both teams were exchanging quick moves back and forth, but LAX got the upper hand with a combo on Wentz, managing to cut him off from his corner. Santana looked for quick pin attempts after a German suplex and a backbreaker. Ortiz came in and got another two count after a combo, which Xavier broke up.

Outside the ring, we saw that Miguel had grabbed Ortiz’s flask and was drinking it.

In the ring, Wentz hit a desperation jumping knee on Santana to get some space and tag in Xavier, who took out Santana, hit a big elbow on Ortiz, and followed with a dropkick to the spine, sending him to the outside. That was followed with a suicide dive.

Xavier hit the wheel kick on Santana, only to get taken out by Ortiz’s enzuigiri. LAX went for roll-ups on Wentz, but Xavier broke them up again. The Rascalz hit Hot Fire Flame, but Ortiz broke the pin up at the last moment. Outside the ring, Ortiz grabbed his flask back, drank a bit, but got hit by Xavier, causing him to mist the referee.

Suddenly, the drunk Miguel got in the ring, hit a meteora on Santana, and pinned him. A second referee came in and counted the pin, but the official referee recovered, reversed the decision, and granted LAX the win by disqualification after Miguel’s interference.

The fans weren’t happy with the finish, but they reacted well to the referee fixing the decision. Overall, this was a good match — these two teams will be having great matches once they get more time.

Final thoughts —

This show felt like it had better direction towards Slammiversary than the previous weeks. The work inside the ring was really good and took precedence over the backstage segments. It was a night where people like Kiera Hogan and Fallah Bahh were out there trying to impress.

Impact Wrestling results: Rich Swann vs. Michael Elgin

The fallout from Rebellion continued as this week’s Impact took place from the former ECW Arena.

This week’s Twitch stream was hosted by Melissa Santos, who celebrated her birthday tonight with the stream. Later in the broadcast, Don Callis joined in to give his post-show analysis.

“Disco Inferno” Glenn Gilbertti defeated Alisha Edwards, Ashley Vox, Jordynne Grace, Karissa Rivera, Kiera Hogan, Madison Rayne, Scarlett Bordeaux, Solo Darling, Tasha Steelz, and Tessa Blanchard in a Knockouts battle royal

When the episodes started, half of the participants were already in the ring. Disco Inferno came out at the end and cut a promo saying that when Scarlett Bordeaux defeated him, it was a fluke. He talked trash about women’s wrestling, saying that this should be a bra and panties battle royal. He got tons of heat.

The bell sounded and all the women kicked Disco out, but he left from under the ropes and joined commentary. For the entire match, he was an insufferable barrage of misogynist comments, with Josh Mathews and Don Callis making fun of him. Disco did bring up that he was still in the match halfway through it, killing the swerve.

Back in the ring, half of the wrestlers ganged up on Blanchard an the others focused on Grace. Blanchard and Grace broke out at points and went to get face-to-face, but they got taken out by the rest of the wrestlers.

Bordeaux and Kiera Hogan did some synched buttocks-themed moves. From there on, each woman started taking turns to get some moves in until Blanchard eliminated Vox and Rivera.

Darling eliminated Steelz, only to get eliminated by Grace. Blanchard eliminated Alisha Edwards with a military press.

The newly heel Kiera Hogan faced off with and eliminated Grace. Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie ran in and attacked Rayne and beat her up around the ring, tossing her back for Blanchard and Bordeaux to eliminate her.

Back from commercial, the final three — Hogan, Blanchard, and Bordeaux — were all fighting in the ring. Blanchard hit a codebreaker on Hogan, only to take a powerbomb and a plancha by Bordeaux. Hogan clotheslined Bordeaux, eliminating her from the match.

Blanchard went to powerbomb Hogan out of the ring, but they both landed on the apron, where they traded strikes, ending with Blanchard blocking a kick and tossing Hogan. Suddenly, Disco ran back in, clotheslined Blanchard, and eliminated her to win the match and earn all of tonight’s available heat.

Blanchard returned to the ring to beat him up, but Disco ran away from her.

– We got footage from last week with Michael Elgin attacking Willie Mack in the parking lot after the show. They brawled for a bit until Elgin powerbombed Mack into a truck.

– Back from commercial, Rolando Menendez interviewed Elgin about his hit list. Elgin said that he has learned that when he wants something, he needs to take it for himself, and so he has been taking out the competition. Rich Swann walked up to Elgin in defense of Mack and got in a fight with Elgin. They got into a pull-apart.

Rosemary defeated Su Yung in a Demon Collar match

As soon as the chain was locked, there was a short tug of war and they went quickly into strikes. Rosemary had the upper hand early, choking Yung with the chain and tossing her around. Rosemary locked in the Upside Down and tried hanging Yung over the ring post.

Back in the ring, it was Yung who pulled the chain to ram Rosemary into the post over and over again. Yung brought out a chair, where she sat Rosemary and took her out with a stiff rolling senton when the chair didn’t give. They brawled into the ramp and took each other out with a double clothesline.

Once again in the ring, they traded strikes until Yung took down Rosemary. Yung tried to use the chain as a whip, but Rosemary dodged and hit a Russian side leg sweep. Yung used the chain as a brass knuckle to earn a two count.

Yung hit the Spider Crawl and a draping Pedigree for another two count. Yung brought out her glove. Rosemary escaped the Claw and hit the Red Mist and a spear. Rosemary then hit the Red Wedding and picked up the win.

This was Rosemary’s best performance since coming back from injury. Rosemary won possession of Yung and can now use her as a bargaining chip against James Mitchell and her father — Kevin Sullivan.

– Backstage, Melissa Santos went to talk with Madison Rayne, who said that Taya Valkyrie is avoiding her and hiding behind this 30-day no defense clause. Rayne said when the day comes next week, she will be taking the Knockouts Championship.

Madman Fulton (w/ Sami Callihan) defeated Randy Shawn

Shawn tried attacking Fulton, but he didn’t even get the attention of the big man, who was just waiting for Callihan to give him the green light. Once he did, Fulton tossed Shawn around, no sold some strikes, hit a couple of chokeslams right from the canvas, and hit the End of Days to win the match. Great and total squash.

After the match, Fulton went to attack Shawn again, but Callihan pulled him off.

– Santos interviewed RVD about coming back to the 2300 Arena. RVD said that him and this arena made each other famous. He said that Tommy Dreamer asked him, and so next week, they’re going one-on-one.

– Menendez interviewed the Impact medic about Brian Cage’s condition. We were told that he had a radical spinal contusion and some issues with his sciatica. The medic said that Cage is already walking, but that he can’t properly predict when, and if, he can return to action.

Killer Kross defeated Eddie Edwards

Edwards tried to rush the ring, but Kross caught him and took him down early. Edwards recovered and sent Kross to the outside, then followed with a pescado and a dive.

Back in the ring, Kross hit a suplex and stomped on Edwards. Kross got a two count with a clothesline and continued working on Edwards until Edwards fired up and hit a desperation Blue Thunder Bomb. Edwards hit a Frankensteiner for a one count, then hit a Tiger Driver for two.

Edwards went for the Boston Knee Party, but Kross blocked him. Edwards went for his kendo stick, but Kross blocked him again and hit the Doomsday Saito for the win. This was a dominant win for Kross — good match until Edwards went for the stick.

After the match, Kross took out Edwards with a kick. He zip-tied Edwards on the ropes. When Kross went to deliver a series of kendo stick shots — reminiscent to the Tommy Dreamer ECW angle many years ago — Kross instead broke the kendo stick in front of Edwards.

It seems like Kross has taken over the angles Eli Drake had that could progress Edwards out of his hardcore gimmick.

– The Rascalz were in the Treehouse, with Dezmond Xavier and Trey Miguel arguing about eating. Zachary Wentz was nervous about getting a Tag Team title shot against LAX. Wentz and Xavier agreed to go train. We then got a ’90s training montage with all three Rascalz.

– The Impact Plus Moment of the Week was Brian Cage vs. Kongo Kong from the July 5, 2018 episode of Impact.

– Backstage, Josh Alexander was berating Ethan Page about refocusing on the tag titles. Page said he’s not done with RVD. Moose walked up and told them that LAX can wait, but they only have one chance to be the first to take out RVD. Moose said that next time, he’ll be there with them.

Rich Swann defeated Michael Elgin by DQ

Swann came out dancing, so I guess he wasn’t as mad as he was earlier.

This was a power vs. speed match. They started with a shoulder-and-elbow lock-up. Elgin easily overpowered Swann, who used his speed to get around Elgin. They did a sequence of reverses and counters to show that Elgin also has some speed, but Swann took him down with a rana regardless.

Elgin blocked a Lethal Injection and went for a delayed suplex, but Swann got out. Elgin set up Swann in the ropes, then hit an elbow and a release German suplex where Swann landed right on the top of his head. Scary spot.

Elgin gave Swann a chop that was high on the WALTER scale. Elgin whipped him around the corners, then hit a springboard plancha for a two count. Swann hit a jawbreaker to get some space from Elgin, but Elgin caught Swann in the corner and went for a superplex. Swann managed to take down Elgin from the corner and went for a dive, but Elgin caught him with a dropkick in the middle of the air for another two count.

Swann countered a powerbomb into a DDT to finally take Elgin down. Swann dodged an Elgin charge, sending him outside the ring, then proceeded to follow with two topes and a top rope Swanton to the floor.

Back in the ring, Swann hit a flying elbow for a two count. Swann went for the Phoenix Splash, but Elgin dodged. Elgin hit a couple of clotheslines in the corner and a Falcon Arrow for a two count.

Elgin hit a couple of stiff clotheslines in the middle of the ring, but Swann countered the last one and hit a couple of kicks himself. Elgin delivered the last clothesline and followed with a swinging side slam for two.

Elgin went to hit a move from the top rope, but Swann escaped and hit a rana instead. Swann hit a Lethal Injection and a second rope 450, but Elgin kicked out at 2.99. Swann went for another Phoenix Splash, and once again, Elgin dodged. Elgin hit a running lariat and a sit-down crucifix bomb, but Swann kicked out at 2.99 this time.

Elgin hit a Buckle Bomb. Swann hit two poison ranas, but he still couldn’t keep Elgin down for the three. Chants of “this is awesome” filled the arena.

Swann went for a rana from the apron, but Elgin caught him and powerbombed him into the ring post. Elgin hit a second powerbomb into the post and received a warning from the referee. Elgin attacked the official and hit a third powerbomb to the post, getting himself disqualified.

Even with the finish, this was an awesome main event.

Elgin ran off the referee and went to attack Swann in the ring with an Elgin Bomb, but Willie Mack came out and attacked Elgin. Mack hit a Samoan drop and a moonsault, but when he went for the cannonball, Johnny Impact came out and attacked Mack and Swann. Elgin and Johnny got face-to-face to close the show.

Final thoughts —

Great episode for Impact. There was a tease of the ECW nostalgia that will play out in the coming weeks, but the meat of the show with Swann and Elgin was top-notch wrestling.

Impact Wrestling results: oVe Rules street fight

Impact Wrestling returned from Toronto, Ontario, Canada as the fallout from Rebellion continued. This week’s opening video focused on Michael Elgin claiming the number one contender spot for Brian Cage’s Impact World Championship, the build for tonight’s oVe Rules street fight main event, the return of Rob Van Dam to Impact, and the Knockouts division.

This week’s Twitch stream was hosted by Melissa Santos. Don Callis joined up at the end of the show as they gave an update on Cage and talked about Tessa Blanchard and Taya Valkyrie.

Impact Tag Team Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz w/ Konnan) defeated Moose & Josh Alexander in a non-title match

Santana and Alexander started with a series of holds and reversals, with LAX earning the early upper hand. Moose and Ortiz came up next, and Moose got the better of Ortiz with a dropkick in the corner and managed to cut the ring in half on him.

Moose and Alexander would work on Ortiz with quick tags and mostly strikes, stomps, and chokes. Ortiz eventually managed to counter Alexander into a cutter and tag in Santana.

Santana took out Alexander with a running kick, took out Moose with a superkick, and along with Ortiz, got a two count after a double-team move. Moose got back in the match and leveled out both LAX members, powerbombing Santana onto Ortiz. Moose hit the Go to Hell on Santana for a two count.

Moose accidentally kicked Alexander, giving LAX the opening to hit Moose with a double enzuigiri to take him out. LAX hit a series of double-team moves on Alexander, ending with the Street Sweeper for the win.

– Melissa Santos interviewed Madison Rayne about facing Taya Valkyrie tonight in a non-title match. Rayne talked about being 2-0 against Valkyrie, and so tonight she will beat Valkyrie once again and put her name in front of the line.

– Santos interviewed Team Rich Swann. Tommy Dreamer hyped their team, going one by one and saying something special about each of them. Dreamer said that all the hate they’ve all had during their careers is represented in oVe and tonight they’re going to war.

Dreamer brought up Cage’s real-life injury to say that the wrestlers on this roster are the people he wants to fight for, along with saying this is men and women fighting together, people of all races teaming up to fight for what they believe in. His voice was cracking up at the end. Good promo, but some parts felt awkward.

– Josh Mathews and Don Callis announced that Elgin “broke” Pentagon Jr. last week, adding him to the number of injured men.

– Tessa Blanchard came down to join the commentary table for the next match. She is a total babyface now in the booth.

Madison Rayne defeated Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie in a non-title match

Valkyrie got out of the ring, stalled, and provoked Rayne to chase her as the match started. She used the pursuit to jump Rayne and gain the early control.

Back from commercial, Valkyrie was still in control of the match. Valkyrie was whipping her around the ring, but Rayne managed to dodge one of Valkyrie’s running attacks and hit a rana to get some space. Valkyrie slammed down Rayne every time she tried to start a comeback.

Valkyrie worked Rayne’s limbs with several stretches around the ring and finally went for Road to Valhalla, but Rayne reversed and went to strike Taya.

Rayne got some strikes in, but Valkyrie once again regained control for a bit until Rayne got a desperation boot and tornado DDT to finally drop Valkyrie. Rayne hit an enzuigiri for a two count and a cutter for a second one.

Rayne went for a hurricanrana, but Valkyrie blocked it and hit a backbreaker instead. Valkyrie started trash talking and kicking Rayne over and over again, but as she kept at it, she distracted herself with the fans, giving Rayne the opening to catch a kick. Rayne reversed the kick into a half crab and Valkyrie immediately tap out.

Commentary sold the finish as Valkyrie tapping out to get out of the match unhurt since she has a month free of title defenses.

– The Impact Plus Flashback was Su Yung vs. Allie vs. Tessa Blanchard for the Knockouts Championship from Impact’s ReDefined special episode.

– Santos interviewed RVD. She asked about how he was feeling after coming back after six years. When talking about Ethan Page, RVD confused him with Diamond Dallas Page. He said that Page is not someone he needs to get ready for. This was an RVD promo — with awkwardness and all.

– Somewhere in the Undead Realm, Rosemary cut a promo challenging Su Yung to a Demon Collar match for each other’s souls, winner takes all.

Jordynne Grace defeated Alexia Nicole

Short squash match with Grace tossing Nicole around the ring. Grace hit a delayed suplex and a couple of stomps. Nicole had a hope spot trying to lock in a sleeper hold, but Grace got out easily and hit a giant swing.

Nicole got a couple of strikes in, but Grace just overpowered her and hit a Blue Thunder Bomb. Grace hit the Grace Driver to win. Good showcase for her.

– Backstage, Josh Alexander told Ethan Page that he was there to back him up out there against Rob Van Dam. Page hyped himself up.

– Santos interviewed Kiera Hogan about leaving Rosemary to get beaten up last week. Hogan said that she only did what Rosemary said. Hogan said that ever since arriving she just wanted to be everyone’s friend, and everyone kept leaving her.

Grace came up and asked what Hogan was doing, but Hogan went crazy on her claiming they were never friends. Hogan has gone heel.

Rob Van Dam defeated Ethan Page (w/ Josh Alexander)

RVD took down Alexander to start the match since he was getting in RVD’s face. Page avoided RVD while Alexander distracted him, but RVD had eyes in the back of his head and got the better of both men.

RVD went for the spinning kick to Page as he was draped on the rail, but Alexander blocked him and allowed Page to recover and dropped RVD instead.

Back in the ring, Page worked over RVD with strikes and quick suplexes. RVD made a comeback and used a bodyscissors pin for a quick two count. RVD hit a couple of kicks and Rolling Thunder.

RVD went for the frog splash, but Alexander blocked him and Page hit a spinebuster for a two count. RVD came back with a spinning heel kick and the Five Star Frog Splash to win the match clean in the middle. It’s surreal that Rob Van Dam still looks almost the same as he always did, just slightly heavier.

– Cage gave an update on his injury in a sit-down interview. Cage said that he is waiting for the inflammation to go down so he can get a proper scan and see which path his recovery will take.

Santos added during the Twitch stream that Cage is doing rehab on a daily basis and that he can’t even lift up his own daughter right now.

– Rolando Menendez, investigative reporter, interviewed Elgin about putting people in the hospital. Elgin said the list doesn’t stop there, then Johnny Impact interrupted him and said that Elgin is taking credit for the work Johnny did.

Johnny brought up that Elgin and Mack fought at Code Red and Mack surely didn’t go to the hospital. Elgin said next time — Johnny gets sent to the hospital. This is such a weird story for Elgin.

Desi Hit Squad (Rohit Raju & Raj Singh w/ Gama Singh) defeated The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz), The Deaners (Cody Deaner & Cousin Jake), and Brett Bates & Aiden Prince

Raju and Bates did a quick sequence of reversals. Singh and Prince then came in, with the latter getting the better of Singh with quick moves but falling against Singh’s power.

The Desi Hit Squad worked over Prince for a couple of minutes until he made a small comeback and landed in the Deaners’ corner, where Cousin Jake tagged in. They took out The Rascalz in the corner and hit a double-team move for a two count.

The Rascalz came back and hit a kick combo on Cousin Jake to take him out. They hit tandem moves on both Bates and Prince. Wentz and Xavier then hit a couple of dives on everyone. However, back in the ring, Raju and Singh sneaked behind Cousin Jake and stole the win with a roll-up.

Too many men and too little time for a good match, but what we got was good. Brett Bates needs to come back and show what he has — he looked great in the short time he got in the ring.

– Killer Kross cut a promo on Eddie Edwards. Kross said that he took Edwards’ kendo stick because Edwards was turning it into an entity. He said they were both similar, but that one had crossed the line between crazy and genius. He finished by telling Edwards that he expected an answer. Great stuff from Kross — as usual.

– LAX and The Rascalz were in the Treehouse. Trey Miguel asked Ortiz to touch the Tag Team title belt. Xavier and Wentz asked why Miguel wasn’t out there with them in the match. They talked some nonsense about having lions and needing lions to protect their stash.

LAX talked about fighting all the tag teams in the world, which woke up The Rascalz as they hoped to be next in line. Ortiz’s new gimmick is that he drinks a lot.

oVe (Sami Callihan, Jake Crist, Dave Crist & Madman Fulton) defeated X-Division Champion Rich Swann, Willie Mack, Tommy Dreamer & Fallah Bahh (w/ Scarlett Bordeaux) in an oVe Rules street fight

oVe surrounded the ring and a brawl began. In the ring, Dave Crist and Bahh wrestled, with Bahh using his size to get the advantage when Dreamer started to toss chairs in the ring. Jake Crist and Swann paired up next, with Swann hitting a couple of kicks on Jake before Callihan took him out.

Mack came in and took out Callihan and both Crist brothers before hitting a tope con giro on everyone. Dreamer went for one too, but Dave cut him off and hit a moonsault. Bahh was next with the suicide dive. Finally, Dreamer had a chance to hit a rolling senton. The brawl continued as Dreamer headed to the back for something.

Back from commercial, Dreamer had a ladder, which was immediately used to take out Fulton and Callihan. Swann and Mack tossed Jake into the ladder, then Dreamer followed with the Terry Funk helicopter spot until Fulton just batted the ladder off.

Fulton took out everyone one by one with a chair and dropped Dreamer with a sidewalk slam on the ladder. Fulton then set up the ladder on the ramp.

On the other side of the ring, Dave and Bahh were fighting with forks. Dreamer was brawling with Fulton. Mack piled up metal in the middle of the ring, but he ended up taking a tornado DDT on them by Jake for a two count.

Bahh hit Jake with a trash can and busted him open. Dave brought in a barbed wire chair and hit Bahh in the back, followed by Fulton hitting a powerbomb onto a bed of chairs. Yes, Fulton powerbombed Bahh! Dave got a two count after a foot stomp on Bahh with the barbed wire chair in the middle.

Swann came in and took on both Fulton and Dave, hitting a cutter on the former and tossing the latter to the outside. Swann climbed the ladder on the ramp, but Fulton stopped him and instead set him up for Jake to hit a cutter from the top of the ladder. Fulton jumped from the ladder, but he got caught in the middle of the air by Bahh with a Samoan drop!

Dreamer brought out Legos and traded strikes with Callihan in the ring. They used the groin claw on each other until Dreamer dropped both Callihan and Dave with double DDTs. Bahh — who wrestles barefoot — was running around the Legos.

Fulton took out Bahh with the End of Days. Mack hit a stunner on Fulton with a chair and hit Attack of the Mack, but Callihan blindsided him with a stop sign and hit the Cactus Special to win the match.

Really great match — guys like Fulton and Bahh that we don’t usually see do much showed a lot more tonight.

Final thoughts —

Good show by Impact. The lines are becoming clear for many of the rivalries ahead of Slammiversary, but we’re still in the dark when it comes to Cage’s future. The show was strong inside the ring and there were a couple of good backstage promos.
