DragonKingKarl: October 2025 Q&A show

On a new DragonKingKarl Show, it’s time for Karl Stern’s monthly question and answer podcast.

He explores an interesting quirk that happened the night Hulk Hogan lost the WWF Championship to Andre the Giant on The Main Event in 1988.

Also, where does the old Global Wrestling Federation (GWF) rank historically?

He also looks at three different eras of pro wrestling — 1980s, 1990s and today — to see what second and third tier wrestling promotions did and how they are viewed in a historical context including the AWA and ECW.

DragonKingKarl: The 1990 wrestling year in review

On this edition of the DragonKingKarl Show, I grab the March 1991 issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated which covers 1990 in-depth.

Besides the annual year-end awards, the magazine also covered the major events of a hugely transitional year.

Ric Flair was no longer king of the NWA with Sting now the reigning World Champion. Hulk Hogan was out of the WWF title picture as Ultimate Warrior now had that championship. The AWA was still barely hanging on, and a major angle in USWA was grabbing attention, while a newcomer named Steve Austin was making waves in Texas.

Florida renaming trail to honor Hulk Hogan

The state of Florida is honoring Hulk Hogan by naming a portion of land after the late pro wrestling legend.

On Friday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and members of the Hogan family made an appearance at the Hogan’s Hangout restaurant in Clearwater to announce that part of the Pinellas Trail is being renamed to the “Hulk Hogan Trail.” Hogan’s wife Sky, his son Nick, Nick’s wife Tana, and Jimmy Hart were among those who attended the announcement.

The portion of the Clearwater trail that’s being renamed is a two-mile stretch between Oak Avenue and Coronado Drive. On that stretch, there will be red and yellow signs celebrating Hogan. There will also be exercise stations like pull-up bars set up for people to use.

Nick Hogan thanked DeSantis and everyone involved with making this happened. He called the trail a “living legacy” on behalf of his father, with Nick saying he hopes the trail is a place where people can exercise and work to become the best version of themselves.

“This is something that my dad would be so, so proud of,” Nick said. “Because Clearwater was always home for him. No matter how far he traveled around the world or where his career took him, he always was grounded here. And he loved this community, he loved the people here. So to know that a piece of the Clearwater trail has been dedicated in his honor is something that he would be so, so, so proud of and so happy about.”

An emotional Jimmy Hart called this a “great day,” and he thanked WWE, TKO, and DeSantis for everything they have done for Hogan’s legacy.

Hogan, 71, passed away at his home in Clearwater this July after experiencing several weeks of post-neck surgery complications. That surgery is at the center of a medical malpractice lawsuit that Hogan’s widow is planning to file.

Florida also honored Hogan by recognizing August 1, 2025 as “Hulk Hogan Day” following his death.

Update on Hulk Hogan’s will, $5 million in assets listed

A new report has emerged detailing who will benefit from Hulk Hogan’s estate.

US Weekly reports that, in court documents filed this week, Hogan’s son Nick is listed as the sole beneficiary of Hogan’s estate and Hogan’s wife Sky Daily is listed as the surviving spouse. Brooke Hogan, who asked to be removed from her father’s will in 2023, is not a beneficiary.

There are approximately $5 million in assets listed, along with money that could potentially come from a medical malpractice lawsuit that Daily is planning.

“The paperwork shows Hulk left behind $200,000 in cryptocurrency, $799,000 in personal property and intellectual property, and in addition to his right to publicity, worth $4 million and an unknown value for a potential medical malpractice lawsuit,” US Weekly wrote.

In the court documents, Nick requested to be named as co-personal representative of the estate along with Hogan’s lawyer Terry McCoy. Nick also is asking for McCoy to be named curator of the estate.

The documents say Hogan’s will was first executed in 2016 and then was amended four times over the years, most recently in 2023.

Hogan passed away at 71 years old in July following complications from neck surgery. That surgery — where Hogan’s phrenic nerve was said to have been “compromised” — is at the center of the medical malpractice lawsuit that is being considered.

In another legal matter, Nick Hogan has filed suit against radio host Bubba the Love Sponge over a soon-to-be-released documentary regarding Hulk Hogan’s sex tape scandal and the impact it had on Bubba’s life and career. That documentary had a screening in Florida this week with Brooke Hogan in attendance.

Eric Bischoff: Hulk Hogan would be ‘very proud’ of Real American Freestyle launch

Eric Bischoff says that Hulk Hogan would be “very proud” of the strides they are making with Real American Freestyle.

RAF 01, the company’s first event, took place on August 30 in Cleveland and aired on Fox Nation. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bischoff revealed that he met with representatives from Fox on Thursday and that they were pleased with how the show performed.

“Certainly can’t speak for [Fox], but I do know that Real American Freestyle this past Saturday night, I think it would be OK for me to say, is one of — if not the — most successful events that they’ve done so far in 2025 in terms of the launch of a new event,” Bischoff said. “But I certainly can’t speak to it from their perspective, because I don’t have any insight into it. I just know they were really happy to see Chad (Bronstein) and I yesterday.”

Bischoff also revealed to the Hollwyood Reporter that WWE’s Nick Khan reached out to him following RAF 01.

“He just said, ‘Hey, man, solid event — awesome, great job,” Bischoff said.

As for the possibility that TKO could become a partner in RAF, Bischoff responded:

“There’s been no no discussions beyond that. I think it’s a little early, a little bit. Maybe we got a couple of years before we start having those conversations.”

Bischoff stated in a separate interview recently that a Real American Freestyle two-hour weekly show is planned for the first quarter of 2026.

“I really think there’s a market for it,” Bischoff said about the planned show. “And it’s a big part of our future.”

Earlier in the interview, Bischoff said news of Hogan’s passing and the timing was “really, really tough” but they were determined to follow through with the inaugural event.

“We woke up and said, ‘You know what? What would Hulk want us to do? He wants to keep going. This is an opportunity for us to build on to an already large legacy and to do something positive,’” Bischoff said. “And from that point forward, it’s just, you know, we’re just like ‘Powered by Hogan.’ We just driving through and trying to make him proud, and I think we are. I know we did on Saturday, and I think he’d be very proud of the progress that we’re making and what we’re doing.”

Bischoff’s full interview with The Hollywood Reporter is available here.

WWE Vault uploading classic Hulk Hogan series

Saturday morning cartoons are coming to the WWE Vault YouTube channel in the form of a classic Hulk Hogan series from the 1980s.

Beginning this weekend, episodes of “Hulk Hogan‘s Rock ’n’ Wrestling” will be uploaded to the Vault channel every Saturday. The announcement was made in an article posted by entertainment publication Variety.

“WWE will begin running episodes of the cult classic cartoon series, which originally aired from 1985-1986, in batches of four episodes every Saturday morning beginning Sept. 6 on the WWE Vault,” Variety wrote. “The episodes will air in chronological order and will drop at 6 a.m., 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. (all times are ET).”

The cartoon aired 26 episodes during its two-season run, with Hogan being voiced by Brad Garrett of “Everybody Loves Raymond” fame. The rest of the cast was comprised of other voice actors playing WWF stars like Andre the Giant, Junkyard Dog, and Roddy Piper. In the show, Hogan was the main good guy while Piper led a group of heels.

Hogan passed away at 71 years old this July following complications from neck surgery.

The WWE Vault channel — which has 2.88 million subscribers at the moment — spotlights classic wrestling content including some rare footage from the WWE archive.

Nick Hogan suing Bubba the Love Sponge over Hulk Hogan sex tape documentary

Nick Hogan is suing Bubba the Love Sponge.

Hogan, on behalf of his father’s estate, filed the lawsuit in a federal court in Florida according to TMZ. He is claiming that Bubba’s upcoming documentary ‘Video Killed the Radio Star: The Untold Story of the Hulk Hogan Sex Tape Scandal’ infringes on his father’s copyrights and trademarks, and is looking to stop the documentary from being released.

The lawsuit reportedly claims that the documentary, set to be released later this month, featured unauthorized images and video footage from the tape in a trailer Bubba recently released. Hogan also accused Bubba of violating a settlement agreement he and Hulk agreed to when the tape first leaked in 2012.

That year, the now-defunct Gawker website released footage from Hulk’s sex tape featuring him with Bubba’s former wife Heather Clem. Hulk sued Bubba and the two reached a settlement shortly thereafter. Hulk additionally sued Gawker for defamation, winning that suit. Additional footage released from the tape revealed Hulk using racist language, which ultimately led to him being removed from WWE programming for a time before being brought back.

Hulk would continue to be featured on WWE programing until his death in July.

Hulk Hogan’s widow planning medical malpractice lawsuit

Hulk Hogan’s widow Sky Daily is planning to file a medical malpractice lawsuit concerning an operation the wrestling icon underwent shortly before his death.

The Daily Mail and TMZ both reported on the lawsuit plans today, with TMZ writing that Daily intends to sue “at least one of [Hogan’s] doctors and others” for malpractice that Daily believes led to his death. Hogan underwent neck surgery in May and experienced several weeks of complications prior to his July 24 passing at 71 years old.

Cardiac arrest was listed as Hogan’s official cause of death, but Daily believes this alleged malpractice contributed to his passing. Daily says Hogan’s phrenic nerve was “compromised” during the May surgery. The phrenic nerve controls your diaphragm and is essential to the breathing process.

Hogan and Daily were married in September 2023, with Daily being Hogan’s third wife after previous marriages to Linda Hogan (Claridge) and Jennifer McDaniel.

This week, Hogan’s daughter Brooke got some closure as she visited her father’s body at the funeral home where it is currently located. Brooke thanked Daily for being “super sweet” and cooperative with her, and she also thanked the police department in Clearwater, Florida for being transparent with her regarding their investigation into Hogan’s death.

Brooke Hogan opens up about visiting father’s body: He looked ‘ready for a PPV’

Brooke Hogan got to have a moment of closure by saying goodbye to her father more than a month after his death.

During a Wednesday call to the Bubba the Love Sponge Show, Brooke revealed that Clearwater Police invited her to meet with them this week to go over the investigation into Hulk Hogan’s passing. While in town, Brooke visited the funeral home where her father’s body is currently located.

“It was actually a really nice day. I got to see one of my dad’s lawyers who I really have a lot of admiration for. We were able to hug and reconnect and just say hi. And I was able to see my dad, and he looked great. He looked like he was ready for a pay-per-view,” Brooke said.

“It was very nice. He looked like he was ready to go on TV. He was big, strong, you know, hair looking good, bandana on, Fu Manchu going. He looked great. You know, I guess however they make that happen, but he looked great. It was awesome to see him. And I said a prayer over him, and I got to say my final goodbyes and that was that. It was super nice.”

Brooke has had questions about her father’s death and how the investigation was being conducted, but she now says police have caught up and are doing a great job. She was able to go over the police bodycam footage from their call responding to Hogan’s death. Brooke thanked the police for the work they’re doing — and she also thanked Hogan’s wife Sky Daily for being “super sweet” and cooperative.

“Everything is going smooth,” Brooke said. “It was a really beautiful day.”

The only thing Brooke is disappointed about is that a toxicology report was not done, but she said no one is at fault for that because a toxicology report was not possible given the condition Hogan was in.

Hogan passed away of cardiac arrest at 71 years old on July 24. He and Brooke had been estranged since 2023, but Brooke expressed that she always loved her father and said their bond never truly broke. Brooke did not attend the funeral, instead choosing to honor Hogan in a more personal way.

Brooke said she does not think there was foul play involved in Hogan’s death but would just like to know exactly why his heart stopped. She noted that police were very open with the footage they showed her.

“Very transparent,” Brooke said about her meeting with police. “Some of it made me really feel for Sky and was heartbreaking, to be honest.”

Brooke asked the media to stop hounding Hogan’s wife Sky and to stop bothering those related to the investigation so they can continue doing their jobs.
