Chelsea Green wins Women’s United States title on WWE SmackDown

A new Women’s United States Champion has been crowned.

Chelsea Green is now the first-ever two time Women’s United States Champion, defeating Giulia on Friday in shocking fashion. After just over a minute of action, Kiana James helped Giulia at ringside by giving Green an elbow. Alba Fyre at ringside responded with a superkick. Giulia took out Fyre, but the distraction allowed Green to roll up the now former champion, putting her feet on the ropes for the surprise win.

After the match, Green celebrated with her tag team partner Ethan Page at ringside. He lifted her in the air as she held both of her championships.

Green has seen momentum in recent weeks, continuing her partnership with NXT’s Page that began earlier in the year. Last weekend at AAA’s Day of the Dead television taping, they defeated Mr. Iguana and La Hiedra to win the AAA Mixed Tag Team titles. Green now joins Page as a double champion, as he also holds the NXT North American title.

On Tuesday, the two were celebrating their Mixed Tag Team title win when Joe Hendry and Thea Hail interrupted, making it clear they wanted the first shot at the titles at Gold Rush. The show ended with the two getting pies thrown in their faces.

Mixed Tag Team title match official for WWE NXT Gold Rush

A mixed Tag Team title match has officially been booked for NXT Gold Rush 2025.

The two-week NXT TV special, being held at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, begins on November 18. After a challenge was laid out this Tuesday, WWE has confirmed that the lineup will include AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green & Ethan Page defending their belts against Thea Hail & Joe Hendry.

Green & Page won the AAA Mixed Tag Team titles from La Hiedra & Mr. Iguana in Mexico last weekend. The new champs then held a celebration on NXT, but it was crashed by Hail & Hendry.

During the confrontation, Page thought Hendry wanted to challenge for his NXT North American Championship at Gold Rush. But Hendry revealed that he wasn’t alone, naming Hail as his partner for a Mixed Tag Team title bout. They stood tall after Hail popped out of the cake and left Green, Page, and Alba Fyre covered in whipped cream.

Week one of Gold Rush will air live on The CW at 8 p.m. Eastern on November 18. The following week’s part two on November 25 will be a taped episode filmed alongside the original night.

The following matches are also set for Gold Rush (nights to be announced):

  • Triple threat match: TNA Knockouts Champion Kelani Jordan defends against Lei Ying Lee and Jordynne Grace
  • NXT Women’s North American Champion Blake Monroe defends against Sol Ruca (if Ruca is cleared)
  • WWE Speed Women’s Championship tournament finals Zaria vs. either Fallon Henley or Skylar Rae

Championship celebration added to WWE NXT

On WWE NXT tonight, Chelsea Green & Ethan Page will celebrate their AAA title victory.

Green & Page became the new Mixed Tag Team Champions for Lucha Libre AAA by defeating La Hiedra & Mr. Iguana over the weekend. The new champs will now appear on NXT tonight for what WWE is calling a “Muy Grande Championship Celebration.”

Both Green & Page are Canadian but had not met prior to working together in NXT. Green recently said the pairing is going even better than she could have expected — and she would like for Page to work alongside her on the WWE main roster as well.

Ahead of NXT tonight, Shawn Michaels sent out a tweet congratulating Green & Page on their AAA win.

“Couldn’t be prouder of @OfficialEGO & @ImChelseaGreen,” Michaels wrote. “Hard work. Teamwork. Championship gold. Congratulations to the new @luchalibreaaa Mixed Tag Team Champions. #WWENXT”

Page is also the current men’s North American Champion in NXT.

Tonight’s broadcast begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time, with a six-woman tag match set to open the show. The bout will pit Tatum Paxley, Izzi Dame & Lola Vice against Fatal Influence.

Chelsea Green on pairing with Ethan Page: ‘Better than I could have ever imagined’

Chelsea Green says her pairing with Ethan Page in NXT and AAA is going better than she could have ever imagined.

Green and Page will challenge for the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championships against Mr. Iguana and La Hiedra in Monterrey tomorrow night. During a recent interview with Gabby AF, Green was asked about her pairing with the current NXT North American Champion and said she had never crossed paths with him before, but knew almost immediately that they had chemistry working together.

“I had never met this man in my life,” Green responded. “I had always heard about Ethan Page, obviously. We’re Canadian, we always know about people on the indies.”

“As he was kind of seeing his rise, so was I. But funny enough, we never wrestled together. We were never on the same shows, we never crossed paths.”

Green said they had a small rehearsal for their first segment together in NXT, but did not interact much at all before the show. Once they were in the ring cutting a promo together, Green said she realized how similar their characters are.

“He walks out and he starts talking and I’m like, ‘Holy s–t. Oh, is he? He’s me,'” Green said “I was just so caught off guard.”

“I get in the ring and I’m talking and I can feel like out of my peripherals I can feel his facial expressions. I can feel his energy and he like leans over like this and I’m like, he’s perfect.”

“I think we both immediately knew like this is something. And we just continued to build and learn that we had the same goals in mind and learn that we had the same work ethic and drive.”

Finally, Green said she wants Page to be called up to the main roster to be part of her group with Alba Fyre and the injured Piper Niven.

“It has been way better than I could have ever imagined and I have been so stuck on trying to get him to the main roster because I can’t unsee this duo and this group now with the girls too.”

Green’s full conversation with Gabby AF is available below:

Chelsea Green on new WWE contract: ‘I’m so happy here’

Chelsea Green is more than happy in WWE, even if her character might be a bit directionless at the moment.

It was reported this week that the new WWE contract Green signed a few months back is a five-year agreement. She spoke about the deal during an appearance on Gabby AF, saying she’s “so happy” in WWE. She enjoys being able to represent the company and always being on TV — despite not having a clear direction right now.

“I’m kind of in an interesting time, and I think people sense that even on social media. Like, I’m directionless but not necessarily in a bad way,” Green said. “I came back and I have been non-stop. I have not stopped moving and bopping from brand to brand in three years.

“I just re-signed. I’m so happy here. And I’m okay to take a moment and fill my days and my weeks with media and traveling to represent WWE as more of, like, the face, you know? I love being on TV every week, and obviously I’m saying that and that’s so ridiculous because I am currently on SmackDown, NXT, and AAA in one week. I am still busy, even though I don’t necessarily have a direction. But I’m happy, and I think that that’s all that matters. It’s not always about — and I’ve said this over and over again — it’s not always about winning, it’s not always about being on a pay-per-view. Like, I know what I bring to this company. And I know that they can trust me with anything.”

Green said she would love to elevate herself to the level of someone like Rhea Ripley or Becky Lynch. Reaching the top will always be a goal for her, but she’s happy to be one of the busiest women in WWE with all the obligations WWE trusts her with.

On SmackDown, Green is a former Women’s United States Champion. She leads The Green Regime with Alba Fyre and the currently injured Piper Niven, along with also being featured in NXT with Ethan Page.

In a video posted by AAA on Sunday, Green issued a challenge to current champions La Hiedra and Mr. Iguana for the promotion’s special Day of the Dead event on November 2 in Monterrey.

Chelsea Green opens up about friendship with John Cena

Outside of wrestling, Chelsea Green has gotten some valuable career advice from John Cena through the friendship they have.

Green recently spoke with Woman’s World magazine and discussed the Hollywood aspirations she has in addition to continuing her WWE career. She would like to branch out into acting and hosting, and Cena is someone who has her back in that pursuit. Green noted that she and her husband Matt Cardona go on double dates with Cena and his wife Shay Shariatzadeh fairly often.

“I’ve been auditioning for role after role, and trying to dabble in the hosting space as well,” Green said. “I’m trying to start at the bottom and not cut corners. I want to do it the right way and gain respect within film and TV — not get there because I had it handed to me on a WWE silver platter.

“My husband and I go on double dates with John and Shay, every couple months, and the knowledge that comes out of him is incredible. He totally has my back and if I just continue to touch base with him, I’ll continue to get those little bits of information and advice that are so crucial when you’re on this journey of trying to figure out what you want to do next.”

Green is a former Women’s United States Champion for WWE. On SmackDown, she is part of a faction with Piper Niven and Alba Fyre — though Niven is currently sidelined with a neck injury that has put her in-ring future in question.

“We have all watched each other go through injuries,” Green told Woman’s World. “The girls took care of me when I broke my collarbone in India almost 10 years ago. They washed my hair, packed my bags, took me to the airport, got me on a plane home.

“Now it’s my turn to make sure that Piper is okay — more so mentally. There’s not much I can do physically, but I want to make sure that as she takes that step back, she realizes this is the time to rest, recover, brainstorm new ideas, start a new hobby, and not get in her head. Because, trust me, we get in our heads.”

Chelsea Green says WWE could be doing more with Women’s mid-card titles

Chelsea Green believes WWE could be doing more with the Women’s Intercontinental and United States Championships.

Green, the inaugural WWE Women’s United States Champion, spoke to CinemaBlend recently and said she would like to see the titles defended more often on WWE programming.

Green said:

“I definitely am so happy that we introduced those titles, because I felt like for a long time we were missing opportunities for a bunch of the girls. We just have such a stacked roster between Raw SmackDown, NXT. I mean, now we’ve got ID, we’ve got Evolve, we’ve got LFG. We have so many different brands, and we just didn’t have enough titles to really represent all the girls and the variety of women.”

I think that they’ve been a beautiful addition in terms of getting people in the mix, getting women to have a spot on TV.”

She continued:

“Do I think that we’re doing all we can with them? No. I would love to see more being done with them. I want Giulia to be wrestling on TV every single week with that title. I wanted Zelina on TV every single week. I want Michin to win the title and be on TV every single week. There’s so many hours of WWE, and we can find a place for those championships if we try. It’s tough.”

Green won the inaugural WWE Women’s United States Championship on the December 14, 2024 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, beating Michin in the finals of a tournament. The WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship was introduced the following month, with Lyra Valkyria defeating Dakota Kai to become the first champion. Her full interview with CinemaBlend is available here.

Also concerning Green, she recently commented on a post that was critical of Nia Jax, writing, “The internet not knowing that Nia is one of the best is the biggest travesty. We’re lucky to have her as a locker room leader.”

Title match, Brock Lesnar interview added to WWE SmackDown

A Brock Lesnar interview is one of the new additions to the lineup for tonight’s WWE SmackDown.

WWE has announced that, ahead of his match against John Cena at Wrestlepalooza, there will be an “exclusive interview” with Lesnar on SmackDown tonight. The Lesnar vs. Cena match is set to open the Wrestlepalooza card on Saturday, serving as the official start of WWE’s new PLE era on ESPN.

“Brock Lesnar returns to SmackDown and gives an exclusive interview ahead of his blockbuster match with John Cena at Wrestlepalooza,” WWE.com wrote. “Don’t miss all the action of SmackDown, tonight at 8 ET/7 CT on USA.”

Along with that, it’s been confirmed that Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss will defend their titles against Chelsea Green & Alba Fyre tonight. The champs have been feuding with Green and the Secret Hervice since shortly after winning the belts at SummerSlam.

Flair & Bliss are making their second title defense this week after having already defeated Izzi Dame & Tatum Paxley at NXT Homecoming.

The Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio is hosting tonight’s show. Here is the updated card:

WWE SmackDown (Friday, September 19) —

  • Exclusive interview with Brock Lesnar
  • WWE Champion Cody Rhodes appears
  • United States Champion Sami Zayn defends against Carmelo Hayes
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss defend against Chelsea Green & Alba Fyre

Chelsea Green has main roster hopes for WWE NXT pairing

Chelsea Green hopes her NXT pairing with Ethan Page comes to the WWE main roster with Page continuing to be featured with the Secret Hervice.

The Canadian duo of Green & Page formed prior to NXT Heatwave, where they picked up a mixed tag team victory last month over Tyra Mae Steele & Tavion Heights. After Heatwave, it was reported that there were several people in WWE who would like to see Green & Page appear together on SmackDown. Green is already part of the SmackDown roster with her allies Piper Niven & Alba Fyre.

In an interview with USA Today, Green spoke highly of Page and said she hopes they continue to work together.

“[Page] absolutely deserves everything in wrestling that he’s ever got, and now I feel like it’s my job to make sure the main roster sees him as a main roster talent,” Green said. “I also hope that he stays with us. I think that we’ve learned so much from him. He’s learned so much from us, and we have just made kind of the perfect unit.”

Page is the current men’s North American Champion in NXT. He lost a non-title flag match to Heights on this week’s NXT episode.

WWE announces change to SmackDown title match

WWE has announced a change to Friday’s SmackDown lineup, with Piper Niven no longer set to compete on the show.

Niven & Alba Fyre were supposed to challenge Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles on today’s SmackDown in France. But WWE posted a video this afternoon with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announcing that Niven is “unavailable tonight.” The Secret Hervice will still be getting their title shot, though, with Chelsea Green stepping in for Niven.

Charlotte & Bliss won the Women’s Tag Team titles at SummerSlam earlier this month and began feuding with the Secret Hervice shortly after. On SmackDown last week, Niven defeated Charlotte in a singles match with interference by Green and Fyre helping her get the win.

Lyon is hosting SmackDown today in advance of Clash in Paris. Outside of the United States, the episode will air live on Netflix at 2 p.m. Eastern time. It will then be shown in the U.S. later tonight in its regular 8 p.m. Eastern time slot.

Report: WWE NXT duo could appear on main roster

Chelsea Green & Ethan Page’s NXT pairing could potentially be coming to the WWE main roster.

WrestleVotes reported today that “several” people in WWE would like to see Green & Page appear together on SmackDown in the near future. Inspired by their shared Canadian heritage, the Green & Page duo formed during the build to NXT Heatwave. That event took place this Sunday with Green & Page defeating Tyra Mae Steele & Tavion Heights in a mixed tag bout.

“Hearing several within WWE would like to see the current pairing of Chelsea Green & NXT North American Champion Ethan Page appear on SmackDown in the near future, as their chemistry on NXT TV has impressed many,” WrestleVotes tweeted. “Additionally, some believe this newly minted Canadian faction would quickly establish Page as a key player.”

Green and her Secret Hervice members Piper Niven & Alba Fyre are already members of the SmackDown roster, while Page is the current NXT North American Champion. Following his departure from AEW, Page debuted for NXT in May 2024 and had a nearly three-month reign as NXT Champion last year.

We know Shawn Michaels is a big fan of the Green & Page team, with the NXT boss recently praising them in an interview with Undisputed.

“Ethan Page and Chelsea Green, to me, are two of the most enjoyable people that I watch on television,” Michaels said. “Whether Chelsea’s on a main roster show or she’s on ours, I just get a kick out of her. She’s fantastic and a hard worker. With Ethan Page, it’s the same thing.”

WWE NXT notes: Chelsea Green, Moose, next week’s lineup

News and notes from Tuesday’s WWE NXT TV episode.

Chelsea Green —

Chelsea Green made a surprise appearance on Tuesday’s show in a segment with NXT North American Champion and fellow Canadian Ethan Page. Page and Tavion Heights were engaged in a war of words when Green and her Secret Hervice (Piper Niven & Alba Fyre) made their way to the ring. The segment appeared to set up a mixed tag for an upcoming episode with Heights and a female partner against Page and Green.

Moose —

TNA’s Moose made his presence felt on Tuesday’s show, interrupting a confrontation between NXT Champion Oba Femi and his next potential challengers in Je’Von Evans and Trick Williams. DarkState then interfered to set up a “can they coexist”-style tag match for next week.

WWE star announces break from social media following Hulk Hogan comments

Chelsea Green says she has received death threats in the wake of her comments about Hulk Hogan.

Green was on CBS News 24/7 promoting WWE: Unreal shortly after news broke of Hogan’s passing. When asked about him, she praised his contributions to the wrestling industry. She later posted an apology on X to those who felt she dismissed the negative aspects of Hogan’s legacy.

On Friday, Green revealed that she’s taking a break from social media as a result of the messages she’s received.

“I’ve tried to keep my page positive and comedic, but today, a lot changed… and it hit harder than I expected. The name calling, the death threats, the faceless accounts. Social media was supposed to be a fun place and it hasn’t been for a while. It’s been overwhelming and I need to step away for a little bit. Love my PatriHOTS! xo president chels”

Green’s apology post following her comment about Hogan reads:

“A significant part of my role at @WWE involves engaging w the public & responding to questions, often on live platforms,” she wrote. “Yesterday, I was asked to comment on Hulk Hogan on live tv. Let me be clear: my stance on racism is unwavering. I do not condone it—period. If my response (or tweet) seemed dismissive of real concerns, I sincerely apologize. That was never my intention. I tried to acknowledge a death respectfully, even when the legacy is complicated. I am learning one day at a time and will continue to learn. ILY my PatriHOTS, President Chelsea”

Hogan passed away at age 71 on Thursday after suffering cardiac arrest at his home in Florida. WWE dedicated Friday’s edition of SmackDown in Cleveland to honoring him. Jimmy Hart, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, Ted Dibiase, and several other legends appeared on the show. Green wrestled on SmackDown, losing to Jade Cargill in a match that lasted just over eight minutes.
