WWE NXT live results: Trick Williams vs. Carmelo Hayes steel cage match

Less than two weeks removed from Stand & Deliver, rivals Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes are set for another big matchup.

Williams defeated Hayes in the main event of NXT Stand & Deliver over WrestleMania weekend. They’ll face off again on NXT tonight, this time in a steel cage match. It comes after Hayes beat down Williams last week and left him laying.

At NXT Spring Breakin’ later this month, Williams is set to challenge Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship. That title bout comes with the stipulation that, if Williams loses, he will leave NXT.

Dragunov retained his title against Tony D’Angelo at Stand & Deliver. Tonight, D’Angelo makes his first appearance since that loss.

Ridge Holland vs. Joaquin Wilde, Lola Vice vs. Sol Ruca, Thea Hail vs. Tatum Paxley, AOP vs. Malik Blade & Edris Enofe, and Dijak vs. Noam Dar are among the other matches set for tonight.

Dijak vs. Dar is kicking off the episode. Join us for live coverage starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

The newly remixed “Then… Now… Forever” canned intro welcomes viewers.

Footage from earlier today shows the live studio audience on the bus headed to the Performance Center in Orlando. Also shown is the audience in line ahead of the doors opening for NXT.

The opener is a singles match set up on a previous episode.

Noam Dar (with Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson & Oro Mensah) defeated Dijak

Dar pinned Dijak after a distraction by Mensah, followed by a Nova Roller. Good match to open the show, and the result can easily lead to a return match. It would not be the only outside interference on this show.

Meta-Four are the corner of Dar. Dijak was a lone vigilante, which fits his whole gimmick. Notable height difference between Dar and Dijak, and they played on that at times. Yet, the match was still very competitive.

Still not sure which one is the protagonist here, or if there is even supposed to be a good guy. Dijak seems like the babyface, except when he is pummeling Dar with stiff chops.

The match itself goes through a split-screen commercial break. Hard overhand chops by Dijak buckle Dar numerous times. Dar worked to target what Booker T called “pressure points.” Dijak twice countered a guillotine choke. The second time, Dijak counters into a pop-up choke bomb, and Dar gets a shoulder up for a near fall.

Dar kept going for a fisherman’s buster suplex, but the larger Dijak would counter. Finally, Dar executes the suplex. From there, the height difference is less of a factor. The fight soon spills outside, and Dijak is sandwiched into the ring steps. Back in the ring, Dar follows up with a roaring elbow for a near fall.

They trade strikes and kicks, until Dar is turned inside out with a discus kick. Mensah causes a distraction, and he gets super kicked by Dijak. Mensah takes a bump off the apron, and his distraction is fruitful. Dijak turns around to walk into a Nova Roller. Dar then scores a three count on Dijak.

Mensah was selling his jaw, but Meta-Four was otherwise very proud of themselves. Dijak stares daggers through them. This program has just begun.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov meets with NXT GM Ava in her office. Ava wants Dragunov to have a match tonight, but she will let Dragunov pick his opponent. Instead, Dragaunov makes a open challenge. As if an open challenge is not an overdone trope these days.

Tatam Paxley cuts a promo on Lyra Valkyria. The vignette which hypes up a match between the two.

Lola Vice defeated Sol Ruca

Vice pinned Ruca after outside interference by Blair Davenport. Second match in a row to have outside interference play a part in the finish. Would not be the last time on this show. After the match came a pre-taped promo where Natalya challenges Vice to a NXT Underground match at Spring Break.

Vice works over Ruca during the body of the match. Comeback by Ruca, and she gets a near fall after a standing moonsault. Ruca fires up again to springboard into a sunset flip. Ruca climbs to the top rope, and she goes for her finisher where she cartwheels off the top rope. Blair Davenport runs down to ringside, and she trips up Ruca. After taking a bump into the ring, Ruca eats a kick from Vice.

Vice is dancing and celebrating her win when Natalya appears on the Titantron. Nattie’ cuts a promo on Vice, and Nattie challenges Vice to an NXT Underground match as part of week two of Spring Breakin’.

Arianna Grace is giving Gigi Dolan a makeover. Stay tuned for that.

Ridge Holland defeated Joaquin Wilde

This match was set up with an angle on X, where Holland snapped on Wilde. So much for Holland stepping away from the ring, after the heartfelt speech a few weeks ago. Holland is still facing some sort of inner turmoil. Shawn Spears comes down to ringside, furthering his mind games with Holland.

To set up the finish, Wilde goes for a dive through the ropes. Holland catches Wilde and turns the dive into a hard powerslam on the floor. Back in the ring, Holland gives Wilde a DDT, and then Holland covers him for a pinfall. Holland bumps into Spears on his way out.

Ivar basically tries to give Josh Briggs some veteran advice in the trainer’s room, and Briggs takes offense to that. This sets a match for later tonight between Ivar and Briggs.

Thea Hail and Andre Chase have a heart-to-heart talk in a backstage skit with comically bad acting.

Tony D’Angelo is decked out in a very nice suit and hat. He is headed to the ring to address the audience, flanked by his Family. Tony D speaks for a moment, until he is interrupted by No Quarter Catch Crew. Charlie Dempsey is no positioned as the leader of that group, as he was flanked by Myles Borne and Damon Kemp. No sign and no mention whatsoever of Drew Gulak.

More bad acting, as Dempsey argues with D’Angelo. There is a debt to be paid of some sort, because every storyline for D’Angelo has to seemingly have a mafia angle. At least that somehow sets up a wrestling match for the Heritage Cup. The argument turns into a brawl, with the Catch Crew and the Family in a melee. Catch Crew is sent packing.

Much of the men’s roster rush to the ring to answer the open challenge issued by champ Ilja Dragunov, but they are all outsmarted by Je’Von Evans. He leaps over the ropes on the opposite side of the ring, springing to the ring to face Dragunov.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov defeated Je’Von Evans in a non-title match

Dragunov pinned Evans in arguably the best match on the show so far. The live studio audience was hot from start to finish. Evans got to shine with plenty of high spots and close near falls. Evans got air as he flew around the ring. Dragunov ultimately counters a splash by getting his knees up. Dragunov then dead lifts Evans, leading into the finish. Dragunov delivers Torpedo Moskau, and Dragunov covers Evans for a pinfall.

Sol Ruca cuts a promo where she demands Ava book a no disqualification match between Ruca and Davenport for next week. This sets up a “Beach Brawl” for next week.

Tatum Paxley defeated Thea Hail (with Andre Chase, Duke Hudson & Riley Osborne)

Paxley is getting a push lately in a feud with Valkyria, so of course Paxley gets the win here, albeit with outside interference. Yet another match on this card that ends after a heel interferes in the match.

Hail is making a comeback when Jazmyn Nyz jumps on the apron to distract the referee. Meanwhile, Jacy Jayne trips up Hail. Paxley then catches Hail in a crucifix for a pinfall.

Hail attacks Jayne after the match, and they are pulled apart. In a separate pull-apart brawl, Lyra Valkyria rushes into the ring to jump Paxley. They brawl until referees pour into the ring to separate them.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez is interviewed by Kelly Kincaid, and Perez cuts a promo about Valkyria and Paxley. GM Ava interrupts to book Perez in a tripe threat title match against both Valkyria and Paxley, which takes place next week on week one of Spring Breakin’.

Authors of Pain (with The Final Testament) defeated Malik Blade & Edris Enofe

My guess is this run in NXT is for Akam and Rezar to get ring time ahead of a bigger program on the main roster, as they are put over strong. They got a somewhat dominate win, but Enofe & Blade did get to shine.

New NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom walk out to confront AOP, after a sneak attack on last week’s episode. Axiom & Frazier are held back by security, but this clearly build to a tag title match.

Gigi Dolan uses scissors to alter a dress that Arianna Grace picked out for her. This continued an angle from earlier in the show, and it seemingly appears to set up Grace and Dolan being as an odd couple team of sorts.

Ivar defeated Josh Briggs

Ivar pinned Briggs to win what was a hoss fight. Briggs had tape on his ribs, selling an injury from last week. That would play into the match. NXT North American Champion Oba Femi is seen watching the match on a monitor backstage.

Briggs got some near falls, but he ultimately lost. His injury surely hurt his chances, which plays into the story of Ivar trying to give him advice about the injury earlier today.

Briggs takes a roundhouse kick on the floor. Ivar then rolls Briggs back into the ring, and Ivar does a moonsault press. Ivar then covers Briggs for the pin.

The announcers on commentary run down the card for night one of Spring Breakin’ next Tuesday on NXT:

  • NXT Chamoion Ilja Dragunov defends his title against Trick Williams, and Williams will leave NXT if he fails to win the championship
  • Roxanne Perez defends the NXT Women’s Championship against Tatum Paxley and Lyra Valkyria in a triple threat match
  • Sol Ruca faces Blair Davenport in a no DQ “Beack Brawl”
  • No Quarter Catch Crew vs. The D’Angelo Family in a six-man tag team match
  • Contract signing for NXT Underground with Natalya and Lola Vice

A video package features the recent story between Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes, ahead of their blow off match in the main event on tonight’s card. In a pre-match interview, Carmelo Hayes says the feud is over when he says so. Hayes is followed around by his personal security team.

Big pop from the live studio audience for the entrance of Trick Williams, and chants of “whoop that trick” fill the sound stage.

Trick Williams defeated Carmelo Hayes in a steel cage match

Williams pinned Hayes clean to win this blow off match. Not on the same level as their Stand & Deliver match, and the cage itself likely hurt the quality of the match. It was good nonetheless.

The old school fan in me wants to bemoan a cage match so soon after Hayes and Williams’ last match, with only a one week notice no less. There also seems to be little reason for the cage, except as a gimmick match in this bitter feud. Cage matches used to mean so much more. Do not even get me started on more outside interference in this match on a card already full of such. On an unrelated note, there are kids that need to get off my lawn.

Hayes’ security team hands him weapons like a club, which Hayes uses to pummel Williams. Later on, Williams begins a comeback after executing an avalanche Rock Bottom. Williams then fires up into a full-fledged rally.

Back and forth in the closing moments, leading into a double down. They take turns smashing each other’s face into the chain link of the cage. Hayes goes for a super bulldog off the top. Williams blocks it by landing in a pose. Williams then hits Hayes with a big kick. Hayes signals for his security to interfere, and they start trying to enter the cage.

The heel security team is trying to climb the cage as Williams fights them off. One guy makes it into  the ring, and he has a chair. It does him no good, as Williams easily thwarts the ambush. Williams boots him out the cage door.

For the finish, Hayes picks up the chair as Williams is shutting the cage door. Williams turns around and ducks a chair shot. Williams then delivers his jumping knee finisher to the chair for a Van Daminator of sorts. Williams goes on to hooking a leg in covering Hayes for a pinfall.

Williams has a stare down with Dragunov as the show goes off the air.

Carmelo Hayes vs. Trick Williams cage match set for next week’s WWE NXT

Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams will renew their rivalry in a steel cage match on next week’s WWE NXT.

Hayes attacked Williams & NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov in the show-closing segment on Tuesday’s NXT show, then laid out the steel cage match challenge to Williams.

Earlier in the segment, Dragunov agreed to put his NXT title on the line against Williams on night one of Spring Breakin’ on Tuesday, April 23.

Williams & Hayes main evented last Saturday’s Stand & Deliver PLE, with Williams scoring the victory over his one-time ally.

Three more matches are set for next Tuesday’s NXT episode.

Ridge Holland will return to the ring after an extremely short-lived storyline retirement to take on the LWO’s Joaquin Wilde after a backstage confrontation between the two this week.

Lola Vice mixed it up with Natalya on this week’s NXT show in a backstage brawl, but she will go one-on-one with Sol Ruca on next week’s episode.

After another backstage confrontation between Noam Dar & Dijak on Tuesday’s show, those two will also square off next week.

The announced lineup for the Tuesday, April 16 WWE NXT:

  • Steel cage match: Carmelo Hayes vs. Trick Williams
  • Ridge Holland vs. Joaquin Wilde
  • Lola Vice vs. Sol Ruca
  • Dijak vs. Noam Dar

Earlier Today footage of Valkyria and Perez arriving at the Wells Fargo Center was shown before we returned to the hosts talking about the NXT Women’s Championship Match. Ariana Grace thanked the fans for giving her the title of “Miss Stand & Deliver”. The hosts switched gears to discuss the NXT Tag Team Championship match between champions Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin versus Axiom & Nathan Frazer.

The hosts moved on to discuss the North American Championship triple threat match featuring Oba Femi defending against Josh Briggs and Dijak, followed by a Tale of the Tape graphic sizing up the three competitors.

We saw Shawn Spears getting ready backstage for his match with Joe Gacy at the Kickoff before they showed a video package of Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin taking in a Philly cheese steak at Geno’s Steaks.

After a promo hyping Becky Lynch versus Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania XL, we went backstage to NXT General Manager Ava instructing the referee for Carmelo Hayes versus Trick Williams that there must be a winner for that main event match. The hosts then threw to a video package for NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov versus Tony D’Angelo.

They showed video last night of Tony D’Angelo reflecting on his NXT Championship match with his Family. D’Angelo said he was ready to go through hell to get the NXT Championship. The camera revealed that D’Angelo was talking to the iconic Rocky Balboa statue. We returned to the hosts, with Ridge Holland taking over for Ariana Grace.

The hosts then discussed the big six-woman tag match between Thea Hail, Fallon Henley, and Kelani Jordan versus Jacy Jayne, Kiana James, and Izzi Dame. We got a recap of the fallout between Hail and Jayne last month that led to this match. We saw a shot of Joe Gacy backstage preparing for his match with Shawn Spears.

After a video of Pretty Deadly sizing up the Tag Team Championship Ladder Match at WrestleMania XL, the hosts introduced the commentary team of Vic Joseph, Booker T, and Wade Barrett.

Joe Gacy defeated Shawn Spears

As Gacy was making his entrance, Ridge Holland hit him with a steel chair before walking off.

Once Gacy entered the ring, the match was under way, quickly taking the advantage. Spears hit a top rope belly to belly suplex to regain control of the match. Spears worked on the back of Gacy for a bit before we got a chop exchange between the two men.

Spears held Gacy in a Boston Crab in the middle of the ring, but Gacy fought out of it by reaching the ropes. The two fought on the top turnbuckle, with Gacy winning out. Flying crossbody by Gacy got a two count.

Pump kick and German suplex by Gacy helped create another advantage for him. Spears intercepted an attempted suicde attempt by Gacy and then hung him by the leg on the top rope, hitting him with a boot to the face. Spears followed this with a back drop onto the apron. Elevated rope DDT by Spears got a near fall.

Spears tried for the C4, but Gacy fought out of it. An exchange of counters followed, ending with Gacy’s uranage for a close two-count. With Spears trapped on the apron, Gacy got him with a senton. Pedigree from Spears only got a two-count.

Gacy once again fought out of the C4, then finished it off with the Upside-Down, Inside-Out clothesline, getting the pinfall win over Spears.

A nice enough opener and a good showing for both men. Ridge Holland’s pre-match attack on Gacy should provide an interesting follow up on Tuesday’s NXT.

We returned to Megan Morant and Sam Roberts, who ran down the Stand & Deliver card one more time before they wrapped things up with a video package for Carmelo Hayes versus Trick Williams.

MAIN SHOW

The show opened with hosts Meta-Four welcoming us to the show with a opening hype video running down the Stand & Deliver card. The video featured Meta-Four acting out scenarios that corresponded with the big matches on the show.

We returned live to the Wells Fargo Center with Vic Joseph introducing himself and the commentary team, as well as the Spanish announcers calling the action.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Wolf Dogs (Baron Corbin & Bron Breakker) defeated Axiom & Nathan Frazer

Axiom and Frazer took out Breakker and Corbin with dives before the champs could enter the ring. Once Breakker was tossed into the ring, the match was officially started.

Corbin got tagged in, with Frazer and Axiom continuing their attack. Corbin stopped the momentum of Frazer with a hard clothesline. Frazer escaped and tagged in Axiom as the two took down Corbin with fast attacks.

Suplex by Corbin absolutely flattened Axiom as he tagged Breakker in. Breakker avoided an Axiom clothesline and hit a fierce clothesline of his own.

Both Frazer and Corbin tagged in now, with Frazer avoiding End of Days and hitting Corbin with a neckbreaker and a nice standing shooting star press for the near-fall. Corbin dropped Frazer with Deep Six before tagging Breakker in. Axiom took out Breakker with a dropkick for a two-count.

Top rope Frankensteiner by Breakker on Axiom, followed by a leg drop by Corbin. Frazer broke the pinfall up as the fans chanted “this is awesome!”

All four men were in the ring as things started to open up. Breakker went up the top rope, but got kicked by Axiom. Avalanche Spanish Fly by Axiom, followed by a 450 splash by Frazer got a very close near-fall.

Breakker dropped Frazer with a modified top rope back suplex as he tagged in Corbin, who ascended to the top rope and got a nice elbow drop on Frazer.

Breakker tried to go for a spear at ringside, but Axiom pulled Frazer out of harm’s way, causing Breakker to hit the steel steps. Axiom and Frazer leapt from the commentary table to take Corbin down before tossing him in the ring.

Phoenix Splash by Frazer on Corbin, but Breakker got back in the ring to break up the pin. Chaos with all four men in the ring as Corbin got End of Days on Axiom, followed by Breakker ending the match with a vicious spear on Frazer for the victory.

One heck of an opener. The fast, frenetic style of Axiom and Frazer really meshed well with the Wolf Dogs’ hard-hitting style. It made for a really strong showcase of NXT’s tag division. The Wolf Dogs continue to be a highlight and it’s the right call to keep them as NXT Tag Champs, even with Breakker’s continued presence on SmackDown. As for Axiom and Frazer, even though they came up short, the future is most certainly bright for the duo.

After shots of Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams arriving, we went backstage to Stand & Deliver hosts Meta-Four wearing Dallas Cowboys jerseys. They were standing outside Oba Femi’s locker room to try and get a word with the North American Champion. Femi barged past the door, knocking down Oro Mensah in the process.

As we went back to the commentators, they showed a guy in a Knuckles the Echidna costume fistbumping with Vic Joseph, as this next match is sponsored by the new Knuckles show on Paramount+.

NXT North American Championship: Oba Femi defeated Josh Briggs and Dijak

Femi countered simultaneous kicks by Dijak and Briggs to start us off. The two recovered and flattened Femi with stereo big boots as they began to team up against him. Once they got on the apron, Dijak superkicked Femi and tried to go for a splash, but Femi caught him. Femi slammed Dijak onto Briggs at ringside.

Femi grabbed a commentary chair and threw it at Briggs. Superkick by Dijak sends Femi seated onto the chair. Briggs grabbed Dijak from the top rope and chokeslammed him onto the seated Femi.

Inside the ring, Briggs and Femi continued to fight it out. Femi powered out of Briggs’ chokeslam attempt, but Dijak returned to help Briggs finally get the chokeslam on Femi. Near-fall. Femi once again regained control, taking both Briggs and Dijak down in the middle of the ring.

Briggs and Femi fought on the apron, as Briggs took down his foe with a back suplex on the apron. In the ring, Briggs intercepted Dijak’s attempted high-risk manuever with a big boot. Briggs and Femi’s fight on the turnbuckle got disrupted by Dijak’s superkick.

From the top rope, Briggs got Dijak with a standing clothesline, but Dijak had a foot on the ropes to breakup the count. Now all three competitors are in the ring and an exchange of blows helped keep things at a chaotic pace.

Femi is clotheslined to the outside as Dijak took down Briggs. With Femi out of the equation for now, Dijak and Briggs fought until Dijak hit a standing chokeslam. Briggs kicked out at one. Dijak escaped a chokeslam and turned it into a Canadian Destroyer.

Dijak hoisted Briggs on his shoulder and went to the top rope, but Femi intercepted him and placed Dijak on his own shoulders for a very impressive Tower of Doom.

Repeated big boots by Dijak has Femi stunned. He lifts him up for Feast Your Eyes. Dijak avoided a Briggs moonsault and threw him outside. One more Feast Your Eyes by Dijak, but Briggs pulled out the referee at the last second, to the dismay of the crowd.

Dijak leapt over the referee and crashed into Briggs with a dive. With the action at ringside, Briggs sent Femi barrelling through the barricade as Dijak hit Feast Your Eyes on Briggs. Back in the ring, Dijak hit one more Feast Your Eyes, but Femi grabbed Dijak during the pinfall attempt before lifting him up for the powerbomb onto Briggs. Femi pinned Briggs to retain the North American Championship.

A very entertaining big meaty men triple threat match that showcased all three competitors’ strengths both literally and figuratively. Dijak was the standout of the match, even in defeat, as he remains a highlight of NXT. Femi’s North American reign is a great showcase for him as his presentation as dominant giant just works for him.

Tony D’Angelo was shown backstage with his Family before we went to Meta-Four about to interview Thea Hail and Chase U. When Noam Dar asked Hail about whether or not Jacy Jayne was ever her friend, Hail grabbed Dar and began to shout in anger.

Thea Hail, Fallon Henley, & Kelani Jordan defeated Jacy Jayne, Kiana James, & Izzi Dame (w/ Jazmyn Nyx)

Jayne, James, and Dame attacked the faces before the match started. Dame and Henley started off the match as James was then tagged in. With Hail now the legal woman, she and Jayne started to fight. Hail with the malfunction at the junction as she accidentally hit a Chase U student with a dive after Jayne got out of the way.

Dame was now back in the match as she tried to work over Hail before Hail tagged Jordan back in. Modified flatliner by Jordan on Jayne as the heel team used a distraction to regain the advantage on Jordan.

Jordan was on the back foot with Dame, James, and Jayne having control of the action right now. They frequently tagged and kept Jordan isolated in their corner. James was the legal woman at the moment as she had Jayne in the abdominal stretch. Dame tagged herself again and maintained the advantage her team had.

Jordan tried to leap from the top rope, but Dame caught her and hit a rib breaker. Jordan found an opening and tagged in Fallon Henley, who was a house of fire. Henley with a nice suplex from the middle rope, but Jayne broke up the pin. Henley and James fought on the top rope, but James won out and hit an avalanche Spanish fly for the two count.

The heel trio found the momentum as Thea Hail introduced herself into the match. Dame threw Hail to the outside, but Duke Hudson caught her. As things broke down, Jazmyn Nyx took down Jordan while the referee’s back was turned.

Back in the ring, Hail tagged herself in and had Jayne in her sights. Both women started to trade blows, with Jayne taking down Hail with a big boot. Hail recovered and pounced on Jayne with a hail of fists. Dame tagged in and tried to lift up Hail for a slam, but Hail turned it around into a Kimura Lock submission, forcing Dame to tap out.

A bit of a more slower paced match, but I found myself liking it. Hail getting the win, albeit not against Jacy Jayne helps prolong that feud to a later date. Some great potential among the six women here.

Backstage, NXT General Manager Ava made an announcement that a new NXT Women’s North American Championship will be crowned soon.

Prior to the NXT Women’s Championship Match, they showed Giulia in the crowd, sitting next to Rossy Ogawa and William Regal.

NXT Women’s Championship: Roxanne Perez defeated Lyra Valkyria (new NXT Women’s Champion)

Valkyria and Perez locked up to kick things off for this match before the NXT Women’s Champion took control with a series of slams. Perez fought out of an early Knight-Wing attempt as things returned to a stalemate.

Perez targeted Valkyria’s injured arm with an attempted submission. Valkyria countered Perez’s hurricanrana with a cartwheel before Perez once again tried to go after the arm.

With Perez sent out to ringside, Valkyria hit her with a dropkick before tossing her back inside the ring. Perez regained momentum by continuing the assault on Valkyria’s bad arm.

Perez stretched Valykyria’s arm, as she then followed that with a Northern Lights suplex and an armbar. Valkyria fought back with a flying crossbody, but Perez countered it into an attempted armbreaker. Valkyria escaped and threw Perez over her shoulder.

Both women take each other down with a double crossbody as the referee began his count. Valkyria began her comeback by catching Perez with a series of strikes. She tried to lift Perez up for a suplex, but couldn’t due to her injured arm. After a second attempt, she hit the fisherman suplex on Perez for a near-fall.

Valkyria tried to head to the top rope, but Perez met her at the pass as the two traded strikes. Valkyria got the better of Perez and hit a rolling sitdown powerbomb on her for the close two. Perez rolled out and stopped an attempted Valkyria dive before hitting a spiking DDT onto the Fallout Vault Boy decal on the mat.

Inside the ring, Valkyria is caught with Pop Rox by Perez, but a very close kick out by Valkyria saved this match. Incensed, Perez attacked Valkyria, causing the referee to be distracted. Tatum Paxley emerged from the crowd, but got kicked by Perez.

Perez attempted to break Valkyria’s arm, but the NXT Women’s Champion avoided calamity. Outside the ring, Perez threw Valkyria into Paxley.

Back into the ring, Valkyria reversed Perez’s crossface into a pin attempt that only got a very close two. Valkyria headed to the top rope, but Perez avoided it and tried again for the crossface. Series of pinfall exchanges kept things interesting.

Perez countered the Knight-Wing into the Poison Rana, followed by Pop Rox. She then trapped Valkyria in the crossface. With the pain in her injured arm too much to bear, Valkyria submitted. We have a new NXT Women’s Champion.

Fantastic women’s title match with lots of tension throughout. The thread of Perez’s ruthless targeting of Valkyria’s arm and the champion trying her best to fight through it made for a good story for this match. I’m interested to see where this heel version of Roxanne Perez will go as women’s champion, though I suspect the newly-signed Giulia may be the one she’ll feud with at some point.

NXT Championship: Ilja Dragunov defeated Tony D’Angelo (w/ The Family)

Prior to D’Angelo’s entrance, a short video in the style of the intro of The Sopranos was shown, showing the challenger’s arrival to the Wells Fargo Center.

Strikes from both men started off, but Dragunov’s strikes hurt his taped-up hand. D’Angelo grabbed Dragunov and sent him barreling through to ringside. With the action back in the ring, both men took each other down with a double clothesline. Lots of hard hits early on in this match.

Hard forearm strike by D’Angelo rattled Dragunov. The champion’s hurt hand made him unable to perform his move across the middle rope. The two traded headbutts on the top rope, causing both men to plummet to the ringside area.

Dragunov tried to chop D’Angelo, who avoided it, which caused him to hit the steel post instead. Dragunov fought through the pain and hit a rolling slam on D’Angelo. Inside the ring, Dragunov held D’Angelo in place for two German suplexes and nothing more.

D’Angelo got crushed by a strong rolling clothesline by Dragunov, but that was only a near-fall. Dragunov removed the tape from his hurt arm. Dragunov threw D’Angelo from the top rope with a powerbomb. He tried for the H-Bomb, but D’Angelo kicked Dragunov aside.

With the ref focused on Dragunov, Stacks tried to hand D’Angelo brass knuckles, but was refused. Dragunov battered D’Angelo with repeated clubbing blows right on front of The Family at ringside. Dragunov shouted at Stacks to “do something about it”, but Stacks backed down.

D’Angelo answered with a headbutt before he floored Dragunov with some strikes of his own. The pace now quickened, both men looked to gain some sort of advantage. D’Angelo crushed Dragunov with a clothesline, followed by a German suplex for the two.

On the top rope, D’Angelo threw Dragunov with a super overhead belly-to-belly suplex. On the outside, the two stared each other down and tore apart the Spanish commentary table before they started punching each other. Dragunov got D’Angelo with the H-Bomb before setting his foe onto the commentary table. Dragunov got on the barricade and hit a diving H-Bomb on D’Angelo through the commentary table.

Dragunov threw D’Angelo back in the ring and flew through the air for a senton that only got a two-count. He tried to go to the top rope again, but his dive was intercepted into a powerbomb by D’Angelo for the near-fall.

D’Angelo caught Dragunov with a uranage, but Dragunov refused to stay down. In the end, it was the Torpedo Moscow by Dragunov, followed by the diving H-Bomb that got the three for the NXT Champion.

Post-match, D’Angelo and Dragunov showed respect to one another and shook hands.

A very solid title defense for Dragunov as he did all he can to overcome the hand injury and D’Angelo’s challenge. It was interesting to see D’Angelo repeteadly refuse to win dirty, and I wonder if that’ll lead to something down the line, especially since trying to win clean didn’t pay off for him.

Backstage, we saw Lyra Valkyria recovering from her injuries as Tatum Paxley tried to comfort her. Valkyria stormed off, angrily telling Paxley that this wasn’t the time.

A hype video for Je’von Evans was shown, ahead of his match on this Tuesday’s NXT.

In the ring, Meta-Four talked about how the attendance of 16,545 at Wells Fargo Center broke the all-time NXT event attendance record.

Trick Williams defeated Carmelo Hayes

Williams got an amazing reaction from the crowd, who chanted “whoop that Trick” as loud as they could.

Williams and Hayes locked horns to start off, as Hayes taunted Williams for a bit. He got a punch to the face for his troubles, with the ation having spilled out to ringside. Williams clothesline Hayes over the barricade as he continued to batter him in the crowd area.

Hayes got the advantage by tossing him into the covered up hockey boards as he then talked smack to Williams’ family at ringside. Williams threw Hayes back into the ringside area.

In the ring, Hayes flattened Williams with a springboard clothesline. With Williams down, Hayes tried to remove the turnbuckle padding, but he was stopped by a splash from Williams.

Hayes sent Williams ribs first into the steel turnbuckle he exposed, now having a target he could go after. Stalemate between Hayes and Williams as the two got each other with simultaneous dropkicks. Now both men began to exchange strikes with one another as they then squared up. Williams fired himself up with repeated side kicks, but Hayes snatched momentum back briefly.

Nothin’ But Net intercepted as Williams took him down with a nice spinning kick for the near-fall.

Back at ringside, Williams is left stunned by a kick, as Hayes followed that with a splash from the apron onto his opponent. Hayes threw Williams into the ring and got the frog splash for the two.

Williams rocked by a codebreaker from Hayes for another near-fall. Now Hayes with wrist tape, but Williams avoided getting choked out and the referee is taken out by an errant Williams splash in the corner.

Hayes clipped Williams in the knee before he went outside to get a steel chair from under the ring. Williams intercepted it and began to batter Hayes with repeated chair shots. The referee grabbed the chair from Williams, which gave Hayes the opening for a low blow. 1, 2…. Hayes kicked out. The referee is once again knocked out by an accidental knee strike from Hayes.

Nothin’ But Net by Hayes as a second referee ran in, but Williams kicked out in the nick of time. Hayes tried to strike Williams with the chair, but the second referee grabbed it from him, which allowed Williams to recover and hit Hayes with the Trick Knee to pick up the victory against his former friend.

Very strong main event to cap off what has been an excellent Stand & Deliver show to kick off WrestleMania weekend. Trick Williams getting his moment in his hometown crowd was a nice way to end the show and while the match wasn’t exactly a knockdown, drag out as some were expecting, the drama between Williams and Carmelo Hayes was strong enough to keep the crowd engaged from start to finish.

**********

Overall, Stand & Delivered, well, delivered on expectations, starting off strong with an excellent NXT Tag Title Match, then a potential match of the year candidate with Femi/Dijak/Briggs, followed by a good showing for six of NXT’s rising stars in the women’s division, a new NXT Women’s Champion, another top-shelf Ilja Dragunov title match, and of course, the battle between former friends.

There never was a dull moment throughout the afternoon and once again, NXT’s stars showed why the future is looking to be bright on WWE’s developmental brand.

WWE NXT live results: Stand & Deliver go-home show

Tonight’s WWE NXT is the last stop before Stand & Deliver.

In the main event of NXT’s WrestleMania weekend special, former friends Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes are clashing in a grudge match. Williams and Hayes will meet tonight for one final face-off before Stand & Deliver.

Lyra Valkyria is defending her NXT Women’s Championship against Roxanne Perez on Saturday afternoon. Tonight, both will appear on Supernova Sessions.

The opening match of tonight’s show will determine Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin’s NXT Tag Team title challengers for Stand & Deliver. Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro, Axiom & Nathan Frazer, and Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson are facing off in a number one contender’s match.

NXT Champion Oba Femi will be in non-title action against Joe Gacy. Femi is defending against Dijak and Josh Briggs at Stand & Deliver.

Natalya will appear on NXT for the second straight week, accompanying Karmen Petrovic for her match against Lola Vice. Sol Ruca vs. Blair Davenport, Fallon Henley vs. Jacy Jayne, and Von Wagner vs. Lexis King are also set.

This go-home episode begins with footage of Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams separately arriving to the Performance Center in Orlando. Inside the sound stage, NXT kicks off with a triple threat tag match to determine which team challenges the champions at Stand & Deliver.

Nathan Frazier & Axiom defeated LWO (Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro) and The OC (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson) in a triple threat number one contenders’ match

Frazier pinned Del Toro to win the match. Axiom & Frazier will go on to challenge Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin for the NXT Tag Team Championship on Saturday.

Fast-paced action and lots of high spots. Good Brothers are jumped before the bell with stereo dives that wiped them out momentarily. The beginning of the match is almost like a long highlight reel. They wrestle at a frantic pace before a split-screen commercial break, and the wild spots continue after the show returns from commercials. Seemingly, everyone was doing dives. Even Karl Anderson got in on the fun.

After a crazy corkscrew, Del Toro goes for a Phoenix Splash. No water in the pool. Good Brothers try to capitalize by executing a Magic Killer, but they were cut off by Wilde and Axiom. Those two collide into each other. Axiom them dives out of the ring with a tope on Gallows, for seemingly no reason. Wilde gets out of the ring, as Frazier is climbing the turnbuckles. Frazier leaps off into a 450 on Del Toro, and Frazier covers him for a three count.

Kelly Kincaid interviews the challengers in the ring after their match. Axiom & Frazier vow to win the titles, as the champions look on from a perch overlooking the ring.

Lexis King is sitting on a thrown cutting a promo on Von Wagner and Mr. Stone. King says Wagner cannot hang with him without Stone’s help. King and Wagner meet in a match later tonight.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov discovers there is a boot on his car. Two gentlemen pull up in a dark SUV, and they remark that Dragunov should have paid his parking tickets. They insist Dragunov get in the car, and they will give him a ride to dinner with Tony D’Angelo. The two guys tell Dragunov that he does not want to keep “The Don” waiting. Dragunov smirks, and he gets in the car. What a wacky title program this has been. I remember when champions arrived in a limo, but here there is a boot on his car.

Jacy Jayne (Jazmyn Nix, Kiana James & Izzi Dame) defeated Fallon Henley (with Thea Hail & Kelani Jordan)

They were having a pretty good match when a melee erupted at ringside. The three heels in Jayne’s corner at ringside jumped the two babyfaces in Henley’s corner. Jordan is tossed aside, and Hail is about to be assaulted when Henley comes to her rescue. Henley makes a save for Hail, and Henley cleans house on the heels. However, that allowed time for Jayne to recover. Henley gets back into the ring, and she is rocked by a knee strike. Jayne then covers Henley for a pinfall.

Jayne and her heel pals come through the Gorilla Position, and Jayne cuts a promo on Hail. NXT General Manager Ava tells Jayne to move along. As Jayne is leaving, Hail and her babyface friends come through the curtain. Hail is ranting and raving about Jayne. Ava cannot take anymore, so she books Hail against Jayne in a singles match at Stand & Deliver.

A vignette highlights the rebooting of Josh Briggs’ character. He is now a “Man of Mayhem” like he is in an outlaw motorcycle club, so he is sort of doing a biker gimmick. It is different than most everyone else on the roster, and the persona seems like a step on the right direction for Briggs.

Lexis King defeated Von Wagner

King pinned Wagner clean. They keep pushing

Wagner shows fire at the start, but he is cut off by King. Heat on Wagner as King is in control. Comeback by Wagner. They fight on the apron, where Wagner chokeslams King on the apron’s edge. At ringside, Wagner goes to powerbomb King through the announce desk. King blocks a first attempt, and King counters a second attempt into a DDT that plants Wagner on the floor. Back in the ring, King delivers a Coronation, and he covers Wagner for a clean three count.

Ava tells Carmelo Hayes there are extra referees and security on hand in case things get out of hand. Hayes sarcastically says they need to be ready, because his personal security force will certainly be ready.

Natalya is giving Karmen Petrovic a pep talk when Roxanne Perez interrupts. Perez insults Nattie, as Perez tells her that Perez no longer needs Nattie or any of Perez’s other heroes.

In a locker room skit, Arianna Grace and Wren Sinclair bicker over Gigi Dolan getting a pageant makeover. Grace takes offense to what Sinclair says, with Grace calling it “fighting word.” It was not. Nevertheless, this sets up a match.

Lola Vice defeated Karmen Petrovic (with Natalya)

Vice submitted Pertrovic with a sharpshooter. This match was built up with an angle on social media, and it is also related to a program between Vice and Natalya. Thus, Vice uses Nattie’ own finishing hold on Nattie’s protege in front of Nattie herself. Vice is getting a serious push at the moment.

NXT Champ Ilja Dragunov arrives for his dinner with The Don. He arrives at what appears to be a warehouse. Menacing characters greet him with veiled threats. One guy is cutting drywall with a table saw. Another guy is holding a crowbar. Yet another guy is using a nail gun. They all follow Dragunov to a table with a red cloth covering it and two chairs. In walks Tony D’Angelo. To be continued…

Sueprnova Sessions with guests Roxanne Perez and NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria

Meta-Four are in the ring for Supernova Sessions, hosted by Noam Dar. Meta-Four hype up being the official hosts for Stand & Deliver. There is a couch in the middle of the ring, with two comfy chairs on either side. The challenger, Perez, and the champion, Valkyria, sit opposite each other.

Dar keeps pronouncing Perez’s first name like the song “Roxanne” by The Police. That was the main highlight for me, as these types of talking segments on a go-home show are overdone in WWE. There is even another version later in the show of a final face off. At least that one is for a hot program.

Valkyria and Perez argue back-and-forth. Valkyria gets up from her seat as she is cutting a promo on Perez. The champs says she is winning, and she tells Perez that all Perez does is bitch. Valkyria says Perez will have a whole lot to bitch about at Stand & Deliver.

Perez says she has a whole year worth of rage build up, and Perez vows to let out that rage on Saturday. Perez decks Valkyria, and Valkyria responds with a roundhouse kick. Valkyria then puts Perez through a coffee table with a Death Valley Driver. The champs stands tall and looks so strong here, I can only assume via WWE logic that she is dropping the title. We shall see.

A video package hypes Dijak. NXT North American Champion Oba Femi watches from a monitor, and Femi warns Dijak ahead of their match at Stand & Deliver. Femi then enters the sound stage for his match that is up next.

NXT North American Champion Oba Femi  defeated Joe Gacy in a non-title match

Femi seemingly won after a referee stoppage. Gacy was injured after being tossed across the ring, and the ref stopped the match. This did not look like an angle, but no word on any official injury. Gacy would appear later in the show in a wacky skit.

Shawn Spears ambushed Gacy during Gacy’s ring entrance. Spears hits Gacy with a chair, and Spears then taunts Gacy. This plays off a prank Gacy pulled on Spears during a previous episode of NXT.

Femi then rolls Gacy in the ring. The referee rings the bell to start the match when Gacy is able to get on his feet. Femi then attacks Gacy. Femi is pummeling Gacy until Gacy is able to execute a Saito suplex. Gacy follows up with a springboard moonsault. When Gacy goes for his finisher, he is cut off by Femi.

Femi tosses Gacy across the ring. Gacy lands awkwardly, and the referee backs Femi away. The ref checks on Gacy, and the ref throws up the dreaded “X” sign. The ref calls for the bell, and the ring announcer calls it a no-contest. However, the ref raises Femi’s hand like he is the winner.

Arianna Grace defeated Wren Sinclair

Grace won via pinfall with a cradle, while also illegally holding the ropes for leverage. Sinclair pleaded her case, but the ref did not see Grace breaking the rules. The match probably went too long even if it is fairly short, especially with that finish. Sinclair is not over, and Grace’s pageant queen persona is too over the top. They worked hard, regardless.

Finally, Tony D and Dragunov sit down for their meeting/dinner. The sit-down was supposed to be a dinner, but there was no food. I was told there would be food. Anyway, the champ and his challenger cut promos on each other.

Tony D grabs Dargunov’s injured hand (which was injured in an angle last week). Dragunov grimaces in pain as “The Don” tells Dragunov he could have him taken out at any time tonight. But, Tony D vows to do it while the whole world is watching on Saturday.

“The Don” tells Dragunov nothing personal, it is just business. Tony D motions for a tray, and it is sat down in front of Dragunov. Tony D tells the champ to enjoy his last meal. The champ looks so weak here, and the challenger looks like a stereotypical mobster. What a title program. The production itself here was good, but the storyline is too wacky to take serious.

Sol Ruca defeated Blair Davenport

Ruca won via a roll-up. The match is decent enough, and Ruca got to fight from underneath. She came back from an injury in real life, and she also came back from injury here to win this match. The finish does easily allow for a return bout.

Davenport rushes Ruca as the bell sounds to start the match. Ruca fires up, and the fighting spilled outside the ring. Davenport drops Ruca’s left knee (which Ruca is wearing a large brace on due to and old injury and surgery) on the metal ring steps.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break, and Davenport works the knee during the break. Ruca eventually counters Davenport. Ruca suplexed Davenport near the ropes, and they both go tumbling over and out. Wild spot, especially for a transition spot.

Still selling her left knee, Ruca does a one-legged springboard with her right foot. Ruca springs off the top rope into a flying body press for a near fall. Moments later, Ruca does her top rope cartwheel spot into a swinging DDT for another near fall.

Davenport counters Ruca when Ruca went for her finisher. Davenport then executes her finisher, and Davenport goes for a cover. Ruca with a counter of her own, as she rolls up Davenport with a schoolgirl for a pinfall.

In a backstage skit, Dijak and Josh Briggs are bickering over which one of them will win the North American Championship. In walks the champ, Oba Femi, and he vows to retain at Stand & Deliver, where the three meet in a triple threat title match.

Ava is in her office when in crawls Joe Gacy. He is selling his back, but Gacy still wants a match on Saturday with against Shawn Spears. Ava books it on the spot, and the match is official for Stand & Deliver.

Final Face-off between Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes

Hayes saunters to the ring flanked by his personal security force. Williams enters and gets in the ring for the face-off. Other security surrounds them, as Williams speaks first.

Williams notes that they are the first two African American males to headline a PLE on WrestleMania weekend in a match against each other. The live studio audience inside the sound stage are hot for Williams. He is super over with them.

They are some words thrown back-and-forth, and the talking was good. Jim Valley will be pleased to know there are “because of the fans” arguments thrown around.

Finally, Williams vows to “whoop that trick.” That sets off bedlam, and a brawl erupts. Williams and Hayes are fighting off security. They clear of the ring of security, and they square up. Hockey fight between the two, as the NXT locker room empties. Out comes others on the roster to break up the fight. The go-home show goes off the air with a pull-apart brawl.

Shawn Michaels praises WWE NXT’s Trick Williams & Carmelo Hayes

Shawn Michaels believes Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes are “so deserving” of their main event spot at NXT Stand & Deliver.

It was confirmed today that the grudge match between Williams and Hayes will headline NXT Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania weekend. During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Michaels said the main event spot is something that Williams and Hayes have both earned.

Michaels said it’s been a joy to work with Williams and Hayes. When Hayes came into NXT, he and Michaels “hit it off right off the bat.” Michaels credited Williams for being one of the hardest workers they have.

Michaels believes the friends-turned-rivals storyline with Williams and Hayes is the most intriguing story in NXT right now. Michaels would argue that it’s the most intriguing story in NXT history:

I dearly love both those two young men with all my heart. They have been fantastic. They’re a joy to the coaches – and not just me, to everybody in NXT and the Performance Center. And obviously have earned this spot at WrestleMania [weekend] – at Stand & Deliver, as the main event. This is the deepest, most passionate, most intriguing storyline in NXT and I would argue in NXT history. And this is so deserving of the main event, and these two guys earned it every step of the way and I’m happy that they’re getting this opportunity.

Michaels said the chemistry between Williams and Hayes was “so natural from the get-go.” Williams and Hayes were originally paired together as allies before Hayes turned against Williams.

The Williams vs. Hayes story was documented in a Prime Target vignette that aired on NXT this week:

Michaels has the job title of Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative in WWE/NXT.

NXT Stand & Deliver is taking place from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 6. The main card starts at noon Eastern time, airing live on Peacock before night one of WrestleMania 40.

Trick Williams vs. Carmelo Hayes to main event WWE NXT Stand & Deliver

Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes are officially set to headline NXT’s WrestleMania weekend special.

While speaking with Sports Illustrated, Shawn Michaels confirmed that the grudge match between Hayes and Williams will go on last at Stand & Deliver. The show is taking place from Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, April 6. It has a noon Eastern start time, airing live on Peacock prior to WrestleMania 40 night one.

“The Trick Williams-Carmelo Hayes story has been a driving force of NXT over the past several months,” Michaels told Sports Illustrated. “It deserves to be the main event of what is sure to be a memorable NXT Stand and Deliver.”

The friendship between Williams and Hayes imploded when Hayes attacked Williams at NXT Vengeance Day last month. It was later revealed that Hayes was also the previously unidentified person who attacked Williams backstage last October.

The story is that Hayes got jealous of Williams and decided to betray him after Williams went after the NXT Championship.

Ilja Dragunov holds the NXT Championship and is defending the title against Tony D’Angelo at Stand & Deliver.

On NXT this week, a Prime Target vignette aired building up the Williams vs. Hayes Stand & Deliver match. It included comments from CM Punk, Randy Orton, Booker T, Cody Rhodes, Johnny Gargano, and Tommaso Ciampa.

Here’s everything that’s been announced for Stand & Deliver:

Trick Williams vs. Carmelo Hayes official for WWE NXT Stand & Deliver

NXT’s Trick Williams vs. Carmelo Hayes grudge match is officially set for WrestleMania weekend in Philadelphia.

It was announced via Sports Illustrated today that Williams vs. Hayes is now official for NXT Stand & Deliver. The event is taking place from Philly’s Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, April 6.

Stand & Deliver has a noon Eastern start time, airing live on Peacock/WWE Network just hours before night one of WrestleMania 40.

Confirmation of the match comes after Williams appeared on NXT this week and challenged his former ally Hayes to face him at Stand & Deliver.

Hayes betrayed Williams by targeting his leg with a steel chair attack at the end of NXT Vengeance Day this February. Earlier that night, Hayes & Williams had lost to Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic finals. Williams worked double duty at Vengeance Day, also losing to NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov in the main event.

Though Vengeance Day was the official end of their partnership, it was revealed that Hayes was also the mystery person who attacked Williams backstage last October.

Williams got some revenge when he helped cost Hayes a number one contender’s match against Tony D’Angelo on the March 5 Roadblock episode of NXT. D’Angelo is challenging Dragunov for the NXT Championship at Stand & Deliver.

Here’s the updated card for the event:

  • NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov defends against Tony D’Angelo
  • Trick Williams vs. Carmelo Hayes
  • NXT Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin defend against winners of number one contender’s tournament

Trick Williams challenges Carmelo Hayes for WWE NXT Stand & Deliver

Trick Williams wants Carmelo Hayes at WWE NXT Stand & Deliver.

Williams closed out NXT on Tuesday by issuing a challenge to Hayes for NXT’s WrestleMania weekend event on April 6. In his promo, Williams talked about feeling betrayed by Hayes, who he had considered a friend, and told him that it’s true that they aren’t on the same level, because Hayes will never be on the same level as him. Williams promised to pay back Hayes for everything he did.

Meta-Four interrupted the promo. Noam Dar told Williams that no one in NXT was hotter than Williams, so he wanted his spotlight. This set up a match between the two for next week’s show. The show ended with Williams laying out Dar and Oro Mesnah, then gave Lash Legend a kiss.

Last month, Hayes turned on Williams at the end of Vengeance Day after the latter failed to win the NXT Championship from Ilja Dragunov. Williams made his return last week by attacking Hayes after he lost a number one contender’s match to Tony D’Angelo.

WWE NXT Roadblock live results: Carmelo Hayes vs. Tony D’Angelo

On the road to WrestleMania weekend, a special edition of WWE NXT takes place tonight.

Carmelo Hayes and Tony D’Angelo are set to face off in a number one contender’s match on tonight’s NXT Roadblock. The winner earns an NXT Championship shot against Ilja Dragunov at Stand & Deliver next month.

The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) are in NXT for a WWE Women’s Tag Team title defense against Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley. The winning team will defend their titles against Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark on Raw next Monday.

That isn’t the only Tag Team title match scheduled for tonight. NXT Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin will put their belts on the line against Chase U.

One week after making his return, Shawn Spears will be in action. An Asylum match between Dijak and Joe Gacy has also been announced.

Join us for live coverage starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

This supercard edition of NXT opens with an introductory video package, hosted by Lexis King. He is driving a sports car, and he uses a lot of automobile metaphors relating to the show being called “Roadblock”. King, along with video highlights, run down the top matches on the card.

Kicking off the show is an “Asylum” cage match from a soundstage at the Performance Center in Orlando. It is basically a weapons-filled cage match, and “asylum” is an apparent reference to whatever Joe Gacy’s character is supposed to be.

Dijak defeated Joe Gacy in an Asylum (cage) match

I still do not understand the Gacy character, but this was still a heckuva match. Lots of weapons and such, so this might not be everyone’s cup of tea. Yet, it is not ultra-violent or bloody like some hardcore matches.

Inside the cage are gimmicks that include a chair, table, door, fire extinguisher, kendo stick, straitjacket, and a mystery box of some sort with “DO NOT OPEN” stenciled on the side. The box was a Looney Tunes gag. Dijak opens the lid, and a boxing glove on a spring hits Dijak in the gut. That gag led into a near fall for Gacy, but Dijak kicks out just before the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break.

Just before the show returns from the break, Gacy craters a trash can with a Nestea Plunge. When the show does return from break, Dijak is climbing the cage. Dijak then does a moonsault off the top of the cage. Big pop, a near fall, and a “holy s***” chants follow.

Dijak puts the straitjacket on Gacy, but Gacy still fights back even with his arms restrained behind his back. The tease a superplex, but it was instead Dijak’s turn to take a Nestea Plunge in a bit of an irony. The heel falls backwards through a table he set up. Gacy follows up with a senton bomb for another near fall.

Gacy escapes the straitjacket, only to be leveled with a lariat. Dijak takes duct tape, and he tapes over Gacy’s head so that he is blind. Dijak uses a kendo stick to assault a seemingly helpless Gacy, but Gacy fights back. Gacy takes the kendo away from Dijak and hit him with it. Dijak tosses Gacy through a door propped up in a corner. I was seen doors used like this on the indies, but not sure I have ever seen it in a WWE ring.

Gacy kicks out of a near fall, and Dijak responds by executing Feast Your Eyes. Dijak then covers Gacy for the deciding pinfall.

In a locker room skit with The Family, Tony D’Angelo asks Luca Crusifino to be his consigliere. Crusifino agrees.

A different skit sets up a match a match for later on between Fallon Henley and Blair Davenport.

NXT Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin defeated Chase U (Duke Hudson & Andre Chase with Thea Hail, Jacy Jayne, Jazmyn Nyz & Riley Osborne) to retain their titles

Breakker pinned Chase, in what was another good match on this show. An angry Thea Hail stormed off after the match for some reason. Later in the show, Hail has a pull-apart screaming match with Kiana James and Izzi Dame.

The champs start out strong, but Chase U has a rally before the match goes through a commercial break. The tide turns during the break. Breakker does a Super Frankensteiner, and Chase takes a big bump for it.

The “Wolf Dogs” work over Chase, but Chase still kicks out for a near fall. Hot tag to Hudson, and he runs wild. The champs bump and feed, until they make a bling tag. Hudson counters before he can be blindsided. Chase & Hudson do a Gory Special/Flatliner combo for a two count on Corbin.

Breakker jumps off the apron with a flying clothesline that sends Hudson tumbling over the announce desk. Meanwhile, Corbin is seemingly in control of Chase in the ring. Not for long, as Chase counters Corbin. High cross by Chase for a two count on Corbin.

For the finish, Corbin gives Chase a Deep Six, and Breakker follows with a spear. Breakker then covers Chase for a three count. Wolf Dogs retain.

In a backstage interview, Carmelo Hayes puts over his personal security force. Hayes vows to beat D’Angelo tonight, and then go on to win the NXT title.

Shawn Spears defeated Uriah Connors

Spears pinned Connor after a C4. This was a short enhancement match to showcase the returning Spears. The “10” gimmick is long gone, but Spears does bring his chair gimmick from AEW. However, he still does not play it like a guitar like La Parka in WCW. That to me is a real shame.

Rather, Spears’ character is more serious. He cuts a promo after the match, and he name drops Ridge Holland. That looks to be Spears’ first program in NXT since his return. Spears almost flubbed some lines, but he recovers. He is supposed to be brooding I guess, since they used a split lighting technique on his face.

Holland comes out to confront Spears, and they brawl. Holland pummels Spears, and Spears slides his metal folding chair over to Holland. Spears then dares Holland to hit him with the chair. This plays on Spears’ promo, where he likened himself to a mirror that exposing people for what the really are inside.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane & Asuka) defeated Tatum Paxley & NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria to retain their titles

Sane pinned Paxley to win the match. Another solid bout on the show. Roxanne Perez runs in after the match to attack Valkyria.

With tandem moves, Asuka & Sane showcase why they are such a good team. The challengers rally just before the match goes through a split-screen commercial break.

They did some good near falls. Valkyria has to calm down Paxley at one point for being too aggressive. Later on, Valkyria inadvertently roundhouse kicks Paxley. Valkyria then walks into a back fist from Sane, and Valkyria takes a bump out of the ring. That leaves Paxley alone against the Kabuki Warriors. They do their slop drop/elbow drop combo finish, and Sane covers Paxley for a pinfall. The champs retain.

Roxanne Perez storms into the ring after the match, and she jumps Valkyria. Perez targets Valkyria arm. Valkyria sells big, and she is posted shoulder first. Perez then stomps on the arm while Valkyria is draped in the ropes. That leads to an injury angle, as a stretcher is brought out for Valkyria. She leaves the building in an ambulance.

Fallon Henley defeated Blair Davenport

Henley wins via pinfall, after interference by a returning Sol Ruca. That is an odd way to get Henley over as a babyface, but whatever. Henley does have new theme music that reminds of all the bad bro country songs on country music radio. Although, I admittedly might not be hip to what is a cool country song these days.

Davenport works an arm during the match, which might have been more effective in getting heat if we had not just seen an injury angle based on the same premise. Nonetheless, Henley makes a comeback. They take turns crashing into the ring steps as the fighting spills onto the floor.

Sol Ruca make a surprise return as she is perched on the barricade. Ruca does a cartwheel into a DDT on Davenport. Ruca then rolls Davenport into the ring, and Henley hits Davenport with a shining wizard. Henley then covers Davenport for a three count.

Thea Hail has a tag match booked next week against Kiana James & Izzi Dame, based on a skit from earlier in the show. Hail wants Jacy Jayne to be her partner, but Jayne says she is busy next week.

A goofy skit with NXT General Manager Ava, Gigi Dolan and Arianna Grace sets up a future match between Grace and Dolan. Grace will only agree to a bout if a stipulation is added to their grudge match. If Dolan loses, Grace gets to give her a makeover. Dolan accepts the stip.

Shawn Spears has a cryptic threat for Ridge Holland in a backstage interview. The match is later made official for next Tuesday on NXT.

No Quarter Catch Crew is in the ring to celebrate Charlie Dempsey having won the Heritage Cup. Dempsey is joined by Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp and Myles Borne. They reveal that although Dempsey won the Cup, the “Catch clause” stipulates that any member of No Quarter Catch Crew can defend the Cup in a match. This is basically a take off of Freebird rules.

Drew Gulak also announces they are entered in the upcoming tag team elimination tournament.

Suddenly, William Regal interrupts the Crew. Big pop for Regal for the live studio audience. They also welcome him back with chants. The crowd then starts a “that’s your father” chant directed at Dempsey, since Regal is his shoot father. Regal no sells that chant.

Regal talks about how personally he takes the Cup. Dempsey tells Regal he will defend the Cup “better than you ever could.” Regal smirks, and says he will be watching them.

The former Cup holder, Noam Dar, is in the Meta-Four lounge. He apparently has not spoken since losing the Cup. Lash Legend tries to comfort him. Dar suddenly snaps out of it, and he says the past is behind them. Dar talks about looking to the future. This was a silly skit, but it at least gave Meta-Four a new direction.

Mr. Stone is watching video of a promo Lexis King cut on social media. Von Wagner vows to smash King, but Stone tells Wager that Stone’s beef with King is personal. Stone asks Wagner to fight King alone, without Wagner in his corner.

Tony D’Angelo defeated Carmelo Hayes in a number one contender’s match

D’Angelo pinned Hayes, after a Hayes was distracted by Trick Williams theme song. Williams himself would return in angle that followed the match. The bout itself was somewhat lackluster for a main event, but it set the stage for Williams’ return. The show would end with the crowd going wild for Williams.

In the match, Hayes works over “The Don” as the match goes through a commercial break. Hayes works an arm, which is the third time we see that kind of strategy on this show. Could be a tribute of sorts to Ole Anderson, but it was nevertheless overdone on this card.

They trade near falls. Hayes makes a cocky cover after hitting his “First 48” finishing move. D’Angelo kicks out, much to the chagrin of Hayes. Climbing the turnbuckles, Hayes appears to set up for his guillotine finisher.

With Hayes perched on the top rope, cue Trick Williams’ entrance theme. Big pop from the live studio audience as Williams’ theme plays. The crowd chants “whoop that trick,” while Hayes’ personal security force awaits Williams’ arrival. However, it was swerve meant to fool Hayes.

A distracted Hayes is given a pop-up spinebuster by D’Angelo. The Don then executes his twisting neckbreaker for the finsih. D’Angelo hooks a leg and covers D’Angelo for the deciding pinfall.

The Don cuts a promo after the match, basically saying he has a “gift” for Hayes after deceiving him in the match. That gift was the actual return of Trick Williams.

Hayes’ security force is waiting for Williams to come down the ramp. Instead. Williams comes out of the crowd on the opposite side of the ring, and Williams slides into the ring. Williams jumps Hayes. The security teams tries to intervene, to no avail. Williams is a house of fire. He cleans house and clears the ring, all while the studio audience is going wild. Hot ending for the show.

Two title matches, number one contender’s bout set for WWE NXT Roadblock

Two title matches and a number one contender’s bout is set for next week’s NXT Roadblock.

Carmelo Hayes and Tony D’Angelo will meet next week to determine Ilja Dragunov’s challenger for Stand & Deliver on April 6. D’Angelo interrupted a contract signing between Hayes and Dragunov, saying he talked to General Manager Ava and that she had made a number one contender’s match for Roadblock. The end of the show saw Hayes put D’Angelo through a table.

The Kabuki Warriors will appear on NXT, defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles against Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley. The NXT Tag Team titles will also be on the line, with number one contenders Chase U challenging Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin.

Dijak and Joe Gacy, who have been feuding for the last several weeks, will meet in an asylum match. And after making his return to NXT, Shawn Spears will appear on next week’s show after taking out Ridge Holland with a steel chair.

A video on Tuesday showed waves moving along the ocean as it slowly panned toward a message in the sand that said “see you soon”. The NXT Roadblock logo then appeared, hinting at a reveal for next week.

Here is the lineup for next week’s Roadblock:

  • Number one contender’s match for NXT Championship: Carmelo Hayes vs. Tony D’Angelo
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team titles: Kabuki Warriors defend against Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley
  • WWE NXT Tag Team titles: Baron Corbin & Bron Breakker defend against Chase U
  • Asylum match: Dijak vs. Joe Gacy
  • Shawn Spears to appear

WWE NXT live results: Ilja Dragunov & Carmelo Hayes face-to-face

After presenting a taped episode last week, WWE NXT is back live tonight.

A face-to-face segment with Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes headlines tonight’s episode. Following his betrayal of Trick Williams at Vengeance Day, Hayes has set his sights on the NXT Championship.

Dragunov has agreed to defend his title against Hayes at NXT Roadblock next Tuesday. That match should be made official during tonight’s face-to-face.

The Heritage Cup will be on the line tonight as Noam Dar defends against a member of the No Quarter Catch Crew. It will be Dar vs. either Drew Gulak, Charlie Dempsey, Damon Kemp, or Myles Borne.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, who put NXT on notice last week, are set for action against Malik Blade & Edris Enofe.

Roxanne Perez vs. Jakara Jackson, Kelani Jordan vs. Kiana James, Von Wagner vs. Lexis King, Dijak vs. Luca Crusifino, and Gigi Dolin vs. Jaida Parker have also been announced. Plus, we’ll hear from Ridge Holland.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Starts with a cold open, meaning no introductory video aside from the quick “Together” that opens every WWE broadcast. Wide shot of the sound stage at the Performance Center.

Booker T returns to commentary to join fellow regular Vic Joseph.

In front of a studio audience, out comes NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov for tonight’s advertised confrontation. Dragunov calls out Carmelo Hayes, and Hayes saunters out. Hayes appears rather confident, especially with a line of personal security guards between “Him” and Dragunov.

Hayes calls Dragunov “spiteful,” and the champ says Hayes is “damn right about me!” Because of that, Hayes says he will not get in the ring with Dragunov until their title match is signed and official. Hayes says he will give Dragunov until the end of the night. Until then, or what? That was a hollow threat from Hayes.

Dragunov decks and elbows a few of the security guards, as the rest of security surrounds Hayes with a human shield. To be continued later in the show.

Gigi Dolan is backstage earlier today, and she wants to speak with General Manager Ava. They go to meet in Ava’s office, but Jaida Parker is already there. Much like Dolan, Parker wants to talk about her future. Dolan tells Parker to get in line. This skit sets up a match for later.

Kiana James (with Izzi Dame) defeated Kelani Jordan

James pinned Jordan after interference by Dame. The match goes through a commercial break. Jordan gets to shine before the show cuts to break. Jordan is cut off during the break, and James works her over. Jordan gets some hope spots, like a small package out of nowhere for a two count.

Jordan is trying to rally when she is flipped over the ropes, out to the apron. Jordan goes for a springboard, but Dame interferes by grabbing Jordan’s leg. Jordan takes a bump on the apron, and down to the floor. When Jordan is rolled back into the ring, James executes her “Deal Breaker” finish. A three count later, and the referee raises James hand in victory.

The OC (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson) defeated Edris Enofe & Malik Blade

Gallows pinned Enofe, after a Magic Killer. The babyface duo did well early on, but they lose yet again. They have been a team for a while now, but have got nothing more than a mild push as a team. They seem to lose to those on their way up. Or they lose to teams on their way in, such as here with The Good Brothers in NXT.

Heat on Blade in the body of the match, leading to a hot tag. Enofe cleans house. Meanwhile, Gallows goozles Blade, and Blade is sent crashing into the ring steps. Enofe is cut off, and he takes a spinebuster from Anderson. Both Anderson and Gallows get into the ring for their tandem finisher. Gallows then covers Enofe for a pinfall.

In another backstage skit in Ava’s office, North American Champion Oba Femi and NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov meet face to face. They have a brief staredown. Dragunov is actually there to talk with Ava, presumably about booking the title match with Hayes.

Roxanne Perez defeated Jakara Jackson (with Lash Legend)

Perez submitted Jackson with a crossface. Legend interfered during the match, and the referee ejected her from ringside.

This match was set up with a skit from last week, where Roxanne was upset about missing the open challenge last Tuesday. Jackson approaches Perez to brag about Lash Legend. Perez was already upset, and that was all she needed to ignite. That sparks a pull-apart brawl, which set up this bout.

Perez has words with Legend at ringside, which costs Perez for a moment. Legend interferes, and the ref ejects Legend from ringside. Jackson stills gets some offense, until Perez fired up for a comeback. Perez then applies a crossface, and Jackson tapped out.

Thea Hail is left alone and sad, after Kiana James wants to talk to Jacy Jayne about the calendar sales. This was a community theater skit.

Wolf Dogs meet The Good Brothers in another backstage skit. This teases a tag team title with the new NXT Tag Team Champions, Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin, defending against Gallows & Anderson.

Dijak defeated Luca Crusifino

An encounter in a skit from last week set up this match. It also involved a crazed Joe Gacy in a straitjacket, but that did not factor into this bout. Gacy would run in after the match to attack Dijak.

Crusifino in his new role re-debuts in the ring on NXT, and he drops the fall clean as a sheet. Not really the best way to debut, but it continued a theme on this episode of up-and-comers getting beaten by established acts. There was at least some character development with Crusifino. He plants a crowbar in a hiding spot after the match, catching the eye of The Family.

Dijak cuts off a rally, leading to “Feast Your Eyes” and a pinfall. Gacy runs in after the match. He is still in the straitjacket, but he has broken out of it. One are is completely out, and Gacy flails his arm around.

Crusifino has a crowbar, and he hides it in the ring steps in front of the world. Tony D’Angelo, Stacks, and Rizzo are watching on a monitor backstage. “The Don” is impressed, teasing Crusifino may get an offer he cannot refuse.

NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria heads to the ring for a monologue. Valkyria wishes Shotzi a speedy recovery from injury, and Valkyria also puts over Legend for doing well.

Valkyria then mentions Tatum Paxley following direction last week. Valkyria asks Paxley to come out to thank her. Paxley joins Valkyria in the ring, and Paxley says it was hard not interfere. Paxley begins to mark out for Valkyria, and Valkyria has to settle her down.

As a reward, Valkyria announces that Paxley will team with Valkyria to challenge WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors. That is set for NXT Roadblock.

Ridge Holland interrupts them, and he congratulates the new challengers. Holland asks them to leave the ring, because Holland has something to say. Holland wants to defend his actions, saying he was defending himself.

The lights in the sound stage suddenly go dark. A message appears on the video screens. “Truth will prevail, but there is pain bringing it to light.” The sound stage then goes dark. A lone spotlight breaks through the darkness, revealing a hooded figure holding a folding chair.

The hooded figure hits Holland with a chair shot. The mysterious figure takes off his hood to reveal himself as Shawn Spears. He has returned to NXT, with a takeoff on his chair gimmick from AEW. Although Spears has a previous run in NXT under the “Tye Dillinger” moniker, the commentators referred to him by his shoot name.

Von Wagner (with Mr. Stone) defeated Lexis King

Wagner pinned King after interference by Stone. To get his heat back, King lays out Stone after the match.

King works a leg during the match. Comeback by Wagner, and the fighting spills outside. Mr. Stone is inadvertently knocked down, which worries Wagner. Back in the ring, King is looking for a finisher. Stone jumps on the apron to distract King, allowing Wagner to schoolboy roll up King.

Wagner scores a three count, but King attacks Wager after the match. Stone jumps in to make a save. Instead, King pummels Stone. King executes his “Coronation” finisher on Stone. Flopping like a fish out of water, Stone sells big.

Ava is arguing with Dijak about the brawl earlier with Joe Gacy. The brawling erupts again when Gacy attacks Dijak. A screaming Ava yells they cannot keep doing this. She later books an “Asylum Match” with Gacy against Dijak. That was confirmed for NXT Roadblock.

Jaida Parker pinned Gigi Dolan

“Miss NXT” Arianna Grace comes down to ringside during the match, which ends up costing Dolan the match. Her appearance was foreshadowed with a skit before this match. Grace gets on the apron, wanting to speak to Dolan. In the middle of a match, that is quite silly.

Dolan slaps Grace, and Grace takes a bump off the apron. A distracted Dolan is then blindsided by Parker. Dolan takes the fall, and Parkers pinned her.

An overhead shot of beach reveals a cryptic message. “See you soon.”

Charlie Dempsey (with No Quarter Catch Crew) defeated Heritage Cup Champion Noam Dar (with Oro Mensah) to win the trophy

Dempsey pinned Dar for the deciding fall in the fifth round. Besides the Heritage Cup rules, the other gimmick for this bout was Dar being unaware which member of the Crew he would face in this title match.

All four members of the Crew entered the sound stage, and they all walk to the ring. Dempsey is revealed as the one from the Crew set to wrestle for the Cup.

In the first round, Dempsey scores a pinfall with a cradle. Much of round two happens during a split-screen commercial break. No falls in the second round. Some nifty grappling in the third round.

They are trading strikes as round three winds downs. Dar is dumped on his head with a German suplex, but he manages a counter. Dempsey eats a back elbow, and time expires on the third round.

Not long into the fourth round, Dar evens the score. Dar rushed to attack Dempsey. “Nova Roller” finishing move, and Dar pins Dempsey. The score is tied with one fall apiece.

Seconds into round five, and Myles Borne jumps on the apron trying to cause a distraction. Oro Mensah clashes with Borne at ringside, and Mensah is posted by Borne. A moment later, Drew Gulak and Damon Kemp jump on the apron. Dar thwarts them, but the distraction allow Dempsey time to recover. Dempsey then catches Car with a Dragon suplex. Dempsey bridges, and Dar’s shoulder are on the mat for a three count.

Shawn Spears is leaving the building when he is met with a TMZ-style interview. Spears reveals he will be at “Roadblock” next week.

Face-to-Face

Ava moderates a sit-down face-to-face segment where they are seated at a table. The face-to-face segment is interrupted by the arrival of Tony D’Angelo.

Tony D wants to be included in any conversation about “big business.” Hayes threatens “The Don” by saying he will sic the security on him. The Don tells Hayes that you do not have to be “Him,” nor a champion, to get things done around here.

Tony D snaps his fingers like The Fonz. With the snap of his fingers, the security guards all leave. Ava also vacates seat at the table, and The Don sits down.

Tony D’Angelo wants a title shot, instead of Hayes getting the match. D’Angelo talks about Hayes demanding a title match, but Tony D proclaims he wants to earn a title shot at Stand & Deliver.

D’Angelo announces a match next for Roadblock, with himself against Hayes. The winner gets a NXT title match at Stand & Deliver. Dragunov accepts the proposal, and he shakes hands with D’Angelo.

Hayes gets up from the table to threaten D’Angelo. Pushing and shoving, and Tony D inadvertently elbows Dragunov. Hayes then puts D’Angelo through a table. Hayes signs a contract, and he drops the contract on a prone D’Angelo. Next week is a number one contender’s match to decide who faces Dragunov at Stand & Deliver.

Ilja Dragunov & Carmelo Hayes face-to-face set for next WWE NXT

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov & Carmelo Hayes will go face-to-face on the Tuesday, February 27 WWE NXT episode.

In a segment originally advertised for this week’s taped show, Dragunov will go face-to-face with his likely next challenger Hayes on next week’s live episode. Dragunov defeated Trick Williams to retain the NXT title at Vengeance Day earlier this month, only for Hayes to turn on Williams in the post-match.

A Heritage Cup defense is also set for the February 27 show, as Noam Dar will defend the trophy against a member of the No Quarter Catch Crew yet to be announced. The No Quarter Catch Crew invoked the “Catch clause” in a promo segment on this week’s show, establishing that any of the four group members can challenge Dar next week.

Also announced for next week, Ridge Holland will address the crowd. Holland declared his intention to speak next week in a sit-down interview segment with Sarah Schreiber on this week’s show after speaking on his recent one-on-three attack on Gallus.

The announced lineup for the Tuesday, February 27 WWE NXT:

  • NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov & Carmelo Hayes face-to-face
  • Heritage Cup Champion Noam Dar defends a member of No Quarter Catch Crew (Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp, Charlie Dempsey, or Myles Borne)
  • Ridge Holland speaks

Carmelo Hayes vs. Joe Gacy set for WWE NXT

Carmelo Hayes is set for his first match since betraying Trick Williams.

WWE has announced that Hayes vs. Joe Gacy will take place on NXT this Tuesday (February 13). The match was booked following a post-show angle where Hayes laid out Gacy last Tuesday.

At NXT Vengeance Day, Hayes turned against Williams by attacking him and targeting his knee with a steel chair. Hayes & Williams had lost to Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic finals earlier in the night. Williams wrestled twice at Vengeance Day, also unsuccessfully challenging Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship.

Hayes cut a promo on NXT last Tuesday explaining his betrayal. Hayes confirmed that he was also the mystery assailant who attacked Williams in October 2023.

Hayes said he knew he needed to attack Williams when Williams went behind his back and went after the NXT Championship.

“This was never a collaboration, Trick. You were always my hype man,” Hayes said. “That’s all it is, and that is all you’ll ever be.”

Last Tuesday’s NXT was headlined by Dragunov defeating Dijak in a non-title match. Interference by Gacy led to Dijak losing. After the match, Hayes ambushed Dragunov and posed with Dragunov’s NXT Championship belt.

Dijak defeated Gacy in a no DQ match at Vengeance Day.

It’s also been confirmed that Ridge Holland will face Gallus in a gauntlet match on NXT this Tuesday. Plus, Lola Vice takes on Tatum Paxley.

Here’s the updated card for the episode:

  • NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo & Stacks defend against Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin
  • Carmelo Hayes vs. Joe Gacy
  • Gauntlet match: Ridge Holland vs. Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang)
  • Lola Vice vs. Tatum Paxley
  • Kiana James vs. Brinley Reece
  • Von Wagner & Mr. Stone vs. Noam Dar & Oro Mensah
  • Adriana Rizzo vs. Jaida Parker
