Two title matches, Evolution eliminator set for next week’s WWE NXT

Two title matches and a eliminator match are set for next week’s NXT.

Four matches took place on Tuesday to determine the fatal four way match for next week’s show that will crown a new number one contender for Jacy Jayne’s NXT Women’s title. Izzi Dame, Jaida Parker, Lash Legend, and Jordynne Grace will battle it out next week, with the winner facing Jayne at WWE Evolution on July 12 for the title.

A TNA Championship match was also set for next week. A six-man tag on Tuesday saw Yoshiki Inamura pin Trick Williams, seemingly setting up a future title match. However, Inamura told Briggs backstage he had a bigger plan: he would go after the NXT Championship while Briggs would be the one to get the TNA title match. It was later announced that TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella had made the match official for next week.

Noam Dar will defend his Heritage Cup title against Stacks. After Luca Crusifino accidentally struck Tony D’Angelo during a confrontation with Stacks, the two were arguing backstage in Ava’s office. D’Angelo wanted Crusifino to face Stacks to prove his loyalty, but Ava informed D’Angelo that Stacks was already set for a Heritage Cup title match, and it was set up by his consigliere. Crusifino denied he was behind setting up the match.

NXT lineup for June 24:

  • TNA Championship: Trick Williams defends against Josh Briggs
  • NXT Heritage Cup match: Noam Dar defends against Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo
  • Evolution eliminator fatal four way match: Izzi Dame vs. Jaida Parker vs. Lash Legend vs. Jordynne Grace

Noam Dar returns on WWE NXT, wins Heritage Cup

Noam Dar has returned to WWE NXT, and once again holds the Heritage Cup.

After missing nearly a year of ring time due to injury, Dar made his return on Tuesday’s NXT in Las Vegas, defeating Lexis King to win the NXT Heritage Cup trophy.

Playing off a segment from Saturday’s Stand & Deliver event where they made the Heritage Cup trophy disappear, magicians Penn and Teller made another appearance on Tuesday’s episode, only promising to return the trophy to King if he agreed to defend it on Tuesday’s show.

King agreed, and Dar made quick work of the former trophy holder in his return. Dar suffered an injury last May that was attributed to Ethan Page in storyline. Page was also present for Tuesday’s show, helping King attack North American Champion Ricky Saints in a backstage segment.

Saints will defend his title against King on next week’s WWE NXT episode. Had King retained, the Heritage Cup also would have been on the line in next week’s contest.

Dar extends his record number of Heritage Cup reigns to four. With two reigns, Charlie Dempsey is the only other wrestler to hold the trophy more than once.

New WWE NXT Heritage Cup Champion crowned

The Heritage Cup is back in the hands of the No Quarter Catch Crew following Tuesday’s WWE NXT show.

No Quarter Catch Crew’s Charlie Dempsey defeated Tony D’Angelo on this week’s NXT episode to win back the Heritage Cup.

Dempsey scored a 2-1 win over D’Angelo in the British Rounds format of Heritage Cup bouts in the five fall contest, with the deciding win coming after Wren Sinclair of the No Quarter Catch Crew interfered to cost D’Angelo the bout. The disputed finish gives D’Angelo an out and sets up a potential rematch for TV in the coming weeks, or at the No Mercy PLE set for Sunday, September 1.

It’s the second career Heritage Cup reign for Dempsey, who joins Noam Dar as the only competitor to hold the title more than once, as Dar has held the Cup on three separate occasions.

D’Angelo’s reign with the Heritage Cup ends at 92 days.

Three matches added to next WWE NXT

A match for the Heritage Cup trophy is set for Tuesday’s NXT.

After Lexis King posted a video on social media calling out Tony D’Angelo, the Heritage Cup trophy holder called out King, asking General Manager Ava to set up the match for this coming Tuesday. The match was then made official during Heatwave.

Also made official was Karmen Petrovic taking on Arianna Grace. The two were successful in defeating Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx on the Heatwave pre-show. During the premium live event, the two ended up arguing who the better wrestler was. Ava, who witnessed the argument, responded by setting up a singles match between the two for Tuesday.

Following several weeks of back and forth attacks, Gallus will take on Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe. And after failing to defeat Oba Femi for the North American title, Wes Lee will address his future.

Here is the updated lineup for this Tuesday’s NXT:

  • Heritage Cup trophy: Tony D’Angelo defends against Lexis King
  • Karmen Petrovic vs. Arianna Grace
  • Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. OTM
  • Gallus vs. Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe
  • Wes Lee addresses his future
  • Brooks Jensen sits down with NXT GM Ava

Tony D’Angelo wins Heritage Cup trophy on WWE NXT

Tony D’Angelo is the new Heritage Cup Champion.

D’Angelo pinned Charlie Dempsey two falls to one in the main event of this week’s NXT to win the Heritage Cup Trophy for the first time. The finish had Damon Kemp and Myles Borne come out to attack Stacks and Luca Crusifino at ringside. D’Angelo took both men out but then walked into Dempsey, who bridged D’Angelo for a near fall. D’Angelo then hit his perfect plex finish for the victory.

On last week’s NXT, the show ended with D’Angelo and his family kidnapping Borne and Kemp, preventing Dempsey from invoking the Catch Clause rule that allowed any member of the No Quarter Catch Crew to defend the cup. In the follow-up on this week’s show, Ava fined D’Angelo 20,000 dollars for his actions. D’Angelo gave Ava an envelope with money in it, promising there would be no funny business in the main event.

Dempsey had held the title for 78 days, defeating Noam Dar back on the February 27 edition of NXT.

Ilja Dragunov & Carmelo Hayes face-to-face set for next WWE NXT

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov & Carmelo Hayes will go face-to-face on the Tuesday, February 27 WWE NXT episode.

In a segment originally advertised for this week’s taped show, Dragunov will go face-to-face with his likely next challenger Hayes on next week’s live episode. Dragunov defeated Trick Williams to retain the NXT title at Vengeance Day earlier this month, only for Hayes to turn on Williams in the post-match.

A Heritage Cup defense is also set for the February 27 show, as Noam Dar will defend the trophy against a member of the No Quarter Catch Crew yet to be announced. The No Quarter Catch Crew invoked the “Catch clause” in a promo segment on this week’s show, establishing that any of the four group members can challenge Dar next week.

Also announced for next week, Ridge Holland will address the crowd. Holland declared his intention to speak next week in a sit-down interview segment with Sarah Schreiber on this week’s show after speaking on his recent one-on-three attack on Gallus.

The announced lineup for the Tuesday, February 27 WWE NXT:

  • NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov & Carmelo Hayes face-to-face
  • Heritage Cup Champion Noam Dar defends a member of No Quarter Catch Crew (Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp, Charlie Dempsey, or Myles Borne)
  • Ridge Holland speaks

Heritage Cup match set for next week’s WWE NXT

The Heritage Cup will be on the line on next week’s WWE NXT episode.

As announced during Tuesday’s show, Noam Dar will defend the Heritage Cup against Von Wagner on the Tuesday, January 30 edition of WWE NXT. Their match was hyped this week with a Wagner video at the UCF football stadium where Mr. Stone and two children got Wagner ready for the contest.

In another match set for next week, Women’s Breakout Tournament winner Lola Vice will go one-on-one with former tag partner Elektra Lopez in a match set up with a promo battle on Dar’s Supernova Sessions on this week’s show.

Chase U has also announced a farewell segment for next week after the university’s belongings were repossessed in a segment with Andre Chase & Duke Hudson this week. Jacy Jayne & Thea Hail of Chase U teased in a later segment that there may still be hope for Chase U’s survival.

The second Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic semifinals match will also take place next week, with Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams facing LWO’s Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro. The winners will advance to NXT Vengeance Day on February 4 to face Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin in the finals.
