Bobby Lashley pulled from WWE King of the Ring due to injury

Bobby Lashley has been pulled from the King of the Ring.

SmackDown GM Nick Aldis announced on Thursday that Lashley suffered an injury in training and has not been medically cleared for his scheduled first-round match against Tama Tonga on Friday. He will be replaced by Lashley’s stablemate, Angelo Dawkins.

Aldis said:

Good afternoon WWE Universe it’s your SmackDown GM Nick Aldis with an update and some slightly unfortunate news ahead of tomorrow’s SmackDown.

As many of you know, Bobby Lashley was set to take on Tama Tonga in the King of the Ring but I have been informed that Bobby has suffered an injury during training and is going to be unable to compete. He has not been medically cleared to compete in that match tomorrow night.

So, unfortunate news for Bobby Lashley but a fortunate opportunity for the man taking his place. And that man, I have decided, will be Angelo Dawkins of The Steet Profits.

Lashley last wrestled on a WWE house show in France on Sunday, defeating Santos Escobar in singles competition.

The SmackDown side of The King of the Ring bracket now looks like this:

  • AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton
  • Baron Corbin vs. Carmelo Hayes
  • LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar
  • Angelo Dawkins vs. Tama Tonga

Friday’s show is scheduled for the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Two matches with title implications announced for WWE SmackDown

WWE has revealed how Cody Rhodes’ first title challenger will be decided.

On SmackDown tonight, two triple threat matches will take place. The winners advance to face each other on SmackDown next Friday (April 19). The winner of that match becomes the number one contender to Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Santos Escobar vs. Bobby Lashley vs. LA Knight and Rey Mysterio vs. AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens are tonight’s triple threat bouts.

WWE didn’t state when the winner will be getting their title shot, but the company’s next premium live event is Backlash in Lyon, France on Saturday, May 4. Rhodes is featured on the poster for that show.

Tonight’s SmackDown will include an appearance by Rhodes. At WrestleMania 40, he dethroned Roman Reigns to become the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Reigns had been a champion for 1,316 days before being defeated by Rhodes.

Little Caesars Arena in Detroit is hosting SmackDown tonight. Here’s what’s been announced for the episode:

  • New Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes appears
  • New WWE Women’s Champion Bayley appears
  • Triple threat match: Santos Escobar vs. Bobby Lashley vs. LA Knight
  • Triple threat match: Rey Mysterio vs. AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens

Philadelphia street fight official for WWE WrestleMania 40

A stipulation match has been made official for WWE WrestleMania 40.

WWE confirmed today that Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits will clash with The Final Testament’s Karrion Kross & AOP in a Philadelphia street fight at WrestleMania 40. Dave Meltzer first reported over the weekend that the match was planned to take place at WrestleMania.

SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis said the street fight will take place at night two of WrestleMania 40 this Sunday.

The Final Testament was formed when The Authors of Pain and Paul Ellering returned to WWE this January. Since Kross & AOP attacked Lashley & The Street Profits that night, the two factions have been at war.

On SmackDown last Friday, The Street Profits lost to Grayson Waller & Austin Theory after being distracted by The Final Testament. It was revealed on the video screen that Kross and Scarlett had attacked Lashley and B-Fab backstage during the match. The Final Testament then beat down The Street Profits as well.

Lashley cut a post-SmackDown promo where he promised to destroy The Final Testament.

Bobby Lashley vs. Karrion Kross set for next week’s WWE SmackDown

The battle between The Pride and The Final Testament will reignite on the March 8 WWE SmackDown.

As announced during this week’s episode, The Pride’s Bobby Lashley will face The Final Testament’s Karrion Kross on next week’s episode.

The Pride (Lashley & The Street Profits) and The Final Testament (Kross & Authors of Pain) have been locked into a feud for months on SmackDown, including a Lashley vs. Kross singles match that took place on the December 8 SmackDown where Lashley scored the victory.

Kross has not wrestled since the Royal Rumble match on January 27.

United States Champion Logan Paul is also set to return on next week’s SmackDown.

A rivalry between Paul and Randy Orton kicked off at last week’s Elimination Chamber event, with Paul threatening to use brass knuckles on Orton in the bout, and Orton ultimately eliminating Paul from the Chamber match with an RKO.

Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins could respond to a challenge from The Rock & Roman Reigns on next week’s SmackDown as well.

The Rock & Reigns issued a challenge this week to Rhodes & Rollins for a tag team match on night one of WrestleMania with a stipulation attached — Should Rock & Reigns win, Rhodes vs. Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal title on night two will be a Bloodline rules match where anything goes. Should Rhodes & Rollins win, The Bloodline will be barred from the building on night two. Rock invited Rhodes to respond to the challenge on next week’s episode.

Both Rhodes & Rollins are advertised for next week’s show.

The officially announced lineup for the Friday, March 8 SmackDown in Dallas:

  • Bobby Lashley vs. Karrion Kross
  • Logan Paul returns
  • The Rock appears
  • Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins appear

Three wrestlers qualify for WWE Elimination Chamber

Three more wrestlers have qualified for the Elimination Chamber.

Bobby Lashley and LA Knight won matches to advance to the men’s Elimination Chamber match on Monday’s Raw, while Liv Morgan advanced to the women’s Chamber match ahead of the February 24 premium live event in Perth, Australia.

Lashley was the first to qualify, defeating Bronson Reed. Morgan made her Raw in-ring return by defeating Zoey Stark. Knight followed up with a victory over Ivar.

Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton qualified on SmackDown Friday to enter the men’s chamber. Becky Lynch qualified on last week’s Raw, while Bianca Belair qualified on SmackDown. The winner of the men’s Chamber match will square off against World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40, while the women’s Chamber winner will face Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley.

This coming Friday’s SmackDown will feature Shotzi vs. Tiffany Stratton and Naomi vs. Zelina Vega to fill in two more Elimination Chamber spots, with the final spot being determined in a battle royal on next week’s Raw. For the men, The Miz will face Logan Paul and Dominik Mysterio will square off against Kevin Owens on SmackDown to fill the final two spots.

Name of Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits’ WWE faction revealed

Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits’ faction now has a name.

Lashley, Angelo Dawkins, and Montez Ford have been aligned together on WWE television since last summer. Now, it looks like their group has been named “The Pride.” In his bio on X, Lashley lists himself as the “leader of THE PRIDE.”

WrestleVotes first reported on Thursday that The Pride was planned to be the faction’s name:

There were plans in place to name the Bobby Lashley / Street Profits faction on last weeks SmackDown, which got axed at the last second for unknown reasons. I’m told those plans are still tentative as the direction of the trio could be shifting. The planned name for the group is ‘The Pride.’

Lashley and The Street Profits are currently involved in a program against a new faction that formed on SmackDown last Friday. The Authors of Pain and Paul Ellering made their return on the episode, joining forces with Karrion Kross and Scarlett. Kross and AOP laid out Lashley, Dawkins, and Ford.

B-Fab, who has been an associate of Lashley and The Street Profits, may also be a member of The Pride. After last week’s SmackDown, WWE uploaded a post-show video with B-Fab checking on Lashley and The Street Profits. They vowed to get revenge on Kross and AOP.

Lashley has declared himself as an entrant in the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble match.

Bianca Belair, Bobby Lashley declare for WWE Royal Rumble

Two new entrants have declared for this year’s WWE Royal Rumble matches.

On Friday’s SmackDown show, Bianca Belair declared her entry for the women’s Royal Rumble, while Bobby Lashley announced his entry into the men’s Rumble match.

Belair won the 2021 women’s Roya Rumble match and headlined night one of WrestleMania 37 against Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Lashley is the fourth confirmed entrant for the men’s Rumble match along with CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Shinsuke Nakamura. Belair joins Becky Lynch, Nia Jax, and Bayley as confirmed women’s Rumble entrants.

Belair and Bayley will go one-on-one on next week’s SmackDown episode.

Royal Rumble 2024 will be held at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on Saturday, January 27.

In addition to the men’s and women’s Rumble matches, Roman Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in a four-way against AJ Styles, Randy Orton, and LA Knight at the show, plus Logan Paul will defend the United States Championship against Kevin Owens.

  • Nia Jax

Two new matches announced for WWE SmackDown

Update —

Michin & Zelina Vega vs. Asuka & Kairi Sane has also been confirmed for tonight’s SmackDown.

**********

Randy Orton’s war against The Bloodline is set to continue on SmackDown tonight.

WWE has announced that a singles match between Orton and Jimmy Uso will take place on tonight’s episode of SmackDown. The match comes one week after Orton and Jimmy faced off in tag team action. In last Friday’s main event, Orton & LA Knight defeated Jimmy & Solo Sikoa.

In storyline, Orton is out for revenge on The Bloodline for causing the back injury that kept him out of action for more than a year. Orton underwent double fusion back surgery in 2022. He returned to the ring at Survivor Series last month.

Two weeks ago, Orton joined the SmackDown roster. WWE looks to be building toward Orton challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Reigns is also set to appear on tonight’s SmackDown. He’s returning to the show for the first time since retaining his title against Knight at Crown Jewel.

Tonight’s SmackDown is being held at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Here’s everything that’s been announced:

  • Roman Reigns returns
  • Randy Orton vs. Jimmy Uso
  • Michin & Zelina Vega vs. Asuka & Kairi Sane
  • US title contender’s tournament match: Kevin Owens vs. Austin Theory
  • US title contender’s tournament match: Grayson Waller vs. Carmelo Hayes

Bobby Lashley, Santos Escobar advance in WWE US title contender’s tournament

Santos Escobar and Bobby Lashley have advanced in the WWE United States title tournament.

Escobar defeated Dragon Lee in the first match on Friday’s SmackDown, cutting off Lee and pinning him with the phantom driver. Later in the show, Bobby Lashley defeated Karrion Kross with a spear. According to the brackets released on Friday’s SmackDown, they will meet each other in the semifinals.

The other side of the bracket has Grayson Waller facing an unnamed NXT star and Austin Theory facing off against Kevin Owens.

Logan Paul announced the tournament to set his next contender for the United States title on last week’s SmackDown. Kevin Owens came out in response and the two had a confrontation, with Paul telling Owens that he’s faced the best boxer in the world, and six seconds is more than he needs to KO Kevin Owens.

During his match against Waller that went down immediately after the confrontation, Kevin Owens broke his hand in storyline. Announcers on SmackDown Friday continued to pushed Owens’ injury.

Bobby Lashley says some people were ‘very against’ CM Punk’s WWE return

Bobby Lashley says some members of the WWE locker room were “very against” CM Punk’s return.

Lashley spoke to Steve Fall recently and was asked about Punk coming back to the company.

“I was actually leaving around the time when Punk was really starting to pick up a little steam. I mean, he was there but he really didn’t do anything at that time. I know he had a big impact in WWE in his time there,” Lashley said.

“I spoke with some of the guys that know him, (and I) got mixed feelings. Some people were very against it, some people were, ‘You know, whatever.’ But it’s the land of opportunity. So, if he comes back and he helps out the show, that’s the business side of it.”

Lashley then revealed that he has a built-in angle with Punk if they were ever to cross paths in WWE.

“I don’t really know Punk too personally and when I was fighting, he went to UFC, I put my money on him so he does owe me a little bit of money,” Lashley said. “Twice! I was like, ‘No, he can do it, come on!'”

Lashley continued to say that he hopes Punk is allowed the opportunity to earn his spot back in WWE rather than have it handed to him.

“I understand he has a big name, he’s coming back and he’s going to do some big numbers, but I hope they make him kind of work for some of the stuff,” Lashley continued.

“I hope they give him an opportunity to kind of prove his loyalty to the business and some of the people in there just to let everybody know, some of the naysayers, some of the people that aren’t too happy about him being there. I hope he has his opportunity to work his way back up to the top and not just given everything because he negotiated a good contract that allowed him to do that.”

Lashley is scheduled to wrestle on Friday’s Tribute to the Troops episode of SmackDown in Providence, Rhode Island. He’ll face Karrion Kross in a United States title contender tournament match on the show.

Two matches added to Monday’s WWE Raw

WWE has announced two new additions to the lineup for Monday’s episode of Raw.

On Saturday morning, Raw general manager Adam Pearce revealed that Xia Li vs. Indi Hartwell and Tommaso Ciampa vs. Ludwig Kaiser are both set for this Monday (November 13). The episode is taking place from Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

Li is currently feuding with Becky Lynch. On Raw last Monday, Li attacked Lynch before a Women’s World Championship number one contender’s battle royal. Lynch wasn’t able to compete following the attack. Pearce wouldn’t allow Li to participate in the battle royal after what she did to Lynch.

Li then showed up on Tuesday’s NXT and confronted NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria. Li said she plans to take the NXT Women’s title from Valkyria.

Ciampa & Johnny Gargano defeated Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci on the October 30 episode of Raw. Interference by Kaiser then caused Ciampa & Gargano to lose a match against The Creed Brothers last Monday.

The updated card for Monday’s Raw is listed below:

  • Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Finn Balor & Damian Priest defend against Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso
  • The Miz vs. Ivar
  • Piper Niven vs. Tegan Nox
  • Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Otis
  • Xia Li vs. Indi Hartwell
  • Tommaso Ciampa vs. Ludwig Kaiser

Bobby Lashley vs. Carlito set for next week’s WWE SmackDown

A clash of two veteran stars has been announced for the Friday, November 10 WWE SmackDown.

It was revealed during this week’s episode that Bobby Lashley will face the LWO’s Carlito on next Friday’s SmackDown as the issues between the LWO and Lashley & The Street Profits continue to unfold.

Managed by Lashley, Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins of The Street Profits defeated Carlito & Santos Escobar of the LWO on last week’s SmackDown. Rey Mysterio & Escobar defeated The Street Profits on the September 22 episode, while The Street Profits defeated LWO’s Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde on the September 15 SmackDown.

In another development in the story, B-Fab interrupted a backstage segment on this week’s show to discuss a matter with Lashley, teasing an alignment between the two.

For his part, Mysterio will defend the United States Championship against Logan Paul on Saturday’s Crown Jewel pay-per-view.

The Lashley vs. Carlito bout is the only item currently announced for next week’s SmackDown in Columbus, Ohio.

Our full report from Friday’s SmackDown can be found here.

LWO to have mystery partner at WWE Fastlane

The LWO will have a mystery partner for Saturday’s Fastlane match.

On Friday’s SmackDown, The Street Profits attacked Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde during a Bobby Lashley vs. Rey Mysterio match, with Lashley picking up the win. Later backstage, Mysterio told Santos Escobar and Zelina Vega that Toro and Wilde would be unable to compete on Saturday’s show. After Escobar asked Mysterio what they could do, Mysterio said he was going to make a phone call.

The match was set up last week when Lashley and The Street Profits attacked Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar after Mysterio defeated Escobar to retain the United States title. As they were recovering in the trainer’s room, Mysterio issued the challenge for Saturday’s Fastlane.

Here is the updated lineup for Saturday’s Fastlane:

  • Last man standing match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Seth Rollins defends against Shinsuke Nakamura
  • WWE Women’s Championship: IYO SKY defends against Asuka and Charlotte Flair
  • Undisputed WWE Tag Team titles: The Judgment Day defend against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso
  • John Cena & LA Knight vs. Solo Sikoa & Jimmy Uso
  • Rey Mysterio, Santos Escobar, and ??? vs. Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits

Bobby Lashley returns on WWE SmackDown

Bobby Lashley returned to television on SmackDown Friday, teasing something with The Street Profits.

On Friday, The Street Profits were shown waiting for someone in the parking lot backstage. A limo pulled up, with Lashley eventually emerging from the car. He asked the Street Profits if they were “ready to go talk”. The Street Profits said they were, climbing into the limo as it drove away.

Lashley has largely been off television in recent months. He last appeared on the May 12 edition of SmackDown, winning a three-way match to face off against AJ Styles later that night. Styles won, setting up a match between himself and Seth Rollins to determine the first World Heavyweight Champion. Styles went on to win that match before eventually losing to Seth Rollins at Night of Champions.

The Street Profits last wrestled on the June 23 edition of SmackDown, losing a match to Pretty Deadly.

Bobby Lashley vs. Austin Theory, Trish Stratus segment set for WWE Raw

A match between Austin Theory and Bobby Lashley is set for Monday’s Raw.

The match was announced during Friday’s WWE SmackDown. Theory is coming off a win over John Cena at WrestleMania, and Lashley is coming off winning the Andre the Giant Battle Royal match. He also faced Bronson Reed on Monday’s Raw, with the two being counted out after they continued to brawl on the outside.

Trish Stratus will also appear on the show to explain her actions on this past Monday’s Raw. After Lita was attacked backstage, Stratus offered to team on behalf of Lita. She and Becky Lynch wound up losing the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodrigez. Stratus turned on Lynch after the match, attacking Lynch from behind and laying her out with the chick kick.

Already announced for Raw is the return of Brock Lesnar, who was last seen attacking Cody Rhodes on the Raw following WrestleMania. He will answer a challenge Rhodes gave on this Monday’s Raw for a match at Backlash next month in Puerto Rico.

Here’s the updated lineup for Monday’s Raw:

  • Bobby Lashley vs. Austin Theory
  • Trish Stratus to explain her actions
  • Brock Lesnar to respond to Cody Rhodes’ challenge
