Pacific Rim: Fumi Saito remembers his friend Sabu

On a new Pacific Rim with Jim Valley, he and co-host Fumi Saito remembers Sabu, his friend of over 30 years.

Fumi fills in a lot of Sabu’s history going back to his uncle — the “Original” Sheik Ed Farhat — Sabu’s training and upbringing in the business, his real age (not the one widely reported), his three wrestling influences on which he based his in-ring style, an act of kindness Hana Kimura’s mother never forgot, and much more.

Enjoy stories and a side of Sabu you won’t hear anywhere else.

Bret Hart to accompany FTR at Big Time Wrestling show

FTR and Bret Hart are set to reunite at an indie show this October.

It was announced today that Hart will accompany FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) for their match at Big Time Wrestling’s show in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday, October 22. FTR’s opponents for the event have yet to be announced.

“The legendary Bret The Hitman Hart makes a dream come true for wrestling’s top tag team FTR (current triple tag team champions: ROH, AAA and IWGP) Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood when he accompanies them to the Brooklyn squared circle for action. More stars and matches TBA,” Big Time Wrestling wrote.

The show is taking place at Sunset Park Rooftop in Brooklyn. It’s one of five Big Time Wrestling events that Hart will be appearing at in October. The shows are being called the “Hart Attack Tour.”

Hart also managed FTR at a show for Big Time Wrestling this June. FTR defeated Brian Pillman Jr. & Brock Anderson, who were managed by Arn Anderson.

In a June interview with Sports Illustrated, Harwood said being managed by Hart was the greatest night of his career.

“That night was a culmination of a journey that’s been ongoing for more than 30 years. I was watching the King of the Ring pay-per-view 29 years ago, where I got to see Bret Hart wrestle three matches and tell three different stories that night,” Harwood said. “That’s also the night I told my mother I was going to be a pro wrestler. I know who I am. I don’t have the total package — I’m not tall, I don’t have the body, I have a southern accent. Overcoming all those odds and getting to perform with my hero — not just my favorite wrestler, but my lifetime hero — it was the greatest night of my career. If you saw me smiling, it’s because I couldn’t hide that look on my face.”

Wheeler also spoke to Sports Illustrated about being managed by Hart: “At one point during the match, I got hit and rolled to the floor. Bret was touching my shoulder, asking, ‘Cash, are you all right?’ In my head, I’m thinking, ‘Bret is ringside, asking if I’m all right.’ Laying on that dirty floor, it was a moment of realization. It was a reminder we’re lucky to do what we do.”

Bret Hart to be in FTR’s corner for Big Time Wrestling match

Bret Hart will be in FTR’s corner for an upcoming Big Time Wrestling event in June.

The promotion announced a match between FTR and the team of Brock Anderson & Brian Pillman Jr.. Hart will be in FTR’s corner, while Arn Anderson will be in the corner of his son and Pillman. The event will take place in Webster, Massachusetts on June 10. Ticket information can be found here.

“Everyone’s demanding it! Everyone thinks they know where it’s going to happen… well, it’s going to happen only one place and that place is Big Time Wrestling Friday, June 10th at the iconic Webster Town Hall in Webster, MA,” Big Time Wrestling wrote on their Facebook page. “ It’s Old School 2022 when The Hitman Bret Hart leads FTR to battle with Brian Pillman Jr. and Brock Anderson accompanied by The Enforcer Arn Anderson! Plus an all star card!”

FTR, Anderson, and Pillman are all regulars for AEW. Pillman usually teams with Griff Garrison as The Varsity Blonds. Anderson has been teaming with Lee Johnson, most recently defeating Aaron Solo and QT Marshall of The Factory on an episode of AEW Dark: Elevation that aired on March 30.

The Hardy Boyz to reunite for Big Time Wrestling

The Hardy Boyz are reuniting in the ring for the first time since 2019.

Big Time Wrestling has announced that Matt & Jeff Hardy will team together at their show in Webster, Massachusetts on Saturday, March 12. Matt & Jeff’s opponents for the show have yet to be announced.

Big Time Wrestling’s graphic for the show notes that it will be part of The Hardy Boyz’s 2022 tour.

“HARDY BOYZ TEAM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 3 YEARS! Saturday March 12th! Webster, Mass! MORE TOUR DATES TO COME!,” Big Time Wrestling wrote.

In December, Jeff Hardy was released by WWE after being sent home from a house show tour. Hardy teamed with Drew McIntyre & Xavier Woods against Roman Reigns & The Usos at WWE’s house show in Edinburg, Texas on Saturday, December 4. After tagging out during the match, Hardy left through the crowd. He was sent home and didn’t wrestle at WWE’s event in Corpus Christi the next night.

Matt Hardy said on a Twitch stream after Jeff’s release that WWE may have jumped the gun by releasing his brother. Jeff appeared with Matt on Twitch earlier this month and was also a guest on the first episode of Matt’s “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast. The podcast episode was focused on The Hardy Boyz’s ladder match against Edge & Christian at No Mercy 1999.

Jeff has also recently been on an acoustic concert/meet and greet tour.

The last time that The Hardyz teamed together was prior to Matt departing WWE. Matt signed with AEW after his WWE contract expired in March 2020.
