AEW Rampage live results: Kyle O’Reilly vs. Lee Moriarty

Four matches are set for tonight’s AEW Rampage following Saturday’s episode of Collision.

Kyle O’Reilly will go one-on-one with Lee Moriarty in singles competition. O’Reilly is coming off a loss to Adam Copeland in a TNT title bout while Moriarty dropped a match to Will Ospreay — both on last week’s show.

Rush will return to an AEW ring for just his second match in the promotion in 2024, facing Cody Chhun.

Deonna Purrazzo will take on Robyn Renegade in a women’s division battle. Purrazzo is currently feuding with Thunder Rosa.

Brian Cage will face The Acclaimed’s Anthony Bowens on tonight’s show. Cage is coming off a defeat in a World title eliminator against Swerve Strickland on this week’s Dynamite, while Bowens scored a tag team victory with Max Caster against Grizzled Young Veterans on the April 27 Collision in his most recent AEW bout.

Rampage begins at 10 PM EST immediately following Collision.

**********

The Elite open the show in a pre-taped bumper, wishing us all a great show.

Taped in Portland, Oregon.

Tony Schiavone, Matt Menard and Nigel McGuinness were on commentary.

Kyle O’Reilly defeated Lee Moriarty (w/ Anthony Ogogo) (9:58)

Lots of mat work to start. O’Reilly worked on Moriarty’s arm, until Moriarty used a flatliner to send O’Reilly into the middle turnbuckle.

After the split-screen break, O’Reilly fought out of arm bar, but Moriarty transitioned it into a choke. O’Reilly escaped and kicked Moriarty down. Backdrop suplex into a leglace from O’Reilly in a pretty cool spot. Moriarty escaped and exchanged kicks with O’Reilly. Moriarty did the gnarly finger-snap spot, then hit a running boot in the corner for two. Moriarty locked in the Border City Stretch, but O’Reilly countered with a head and shoulder capture suplex.

Both guys exchanged kicks and slaps mid-ring. Moriarty wenty for a suplex, but O’Reilly countered with aknee to the head. They exchanged armbars, andO’Reilly locked in a hammerlock, guillotine and bodyscissors all at once. Moriarty tried to fight out, but O’Reilly transitioned into a triangle choke, then took Moriarty out with a knee. A suplex into an armbar forced Moriarty to tap out. V

Next week, O’Reilly takes on Malakai Black on Dynamite.

– Lexi Nair interviewed the Acclaimed. Billy Gunn has problems with authority and the Elite.

Rush defeated Cody Chhun (0:38)

Chhun missed a splash in the corner right away then Rush hit a forearm and the dropkick in the corner. That was it.

After the match, Rush pulled Chhun to the floor and beat him up around the ringside area. Rush whipped and choked Chhun with an electrial cable.

– Lexi Nair checked in with Bryan Danielson for a medical update, stemming from events that happened during the Collision main event. FTR won’t make Dynamite this Wednesday, but Danielson will be, looking for the Young Bucks.

“The Virtuoso” Deonna Purrazzo defeated Robyn Renegade

Lots of good work on the mat to start. Purrazzo countered a sunset flip attempt with a juji gatame, but Renegade escaped by making it to the ropes.

After a split-screen break, Renegade hit a flying clothesline to make a comeback. Renegade hung Purrazzo up in the ropes and hit a dropkick for two. Purrazzo came back with a pump kick. Purrazzo hit another pump kick, then locked in the armbar for a submission.

After the match, Purrazzo put Renegade in her finisher until Thunder Rosa ran Purrazzo out of the ring. When Rosa went to check on Renegade, Purrazzo snuck back in the ring for a cheap shot on Rosa. Rosa caught Purrazzo up the ramp and whipped her into the ring apron. Purrazzo escaped through the crowd.

– Another vignette for Scorpio Sky. This one sounded like Sky would be coming back as an insincere babyface.

– A commercial for Double or Nothing promoted the show with a triple main event: Willow/Mercedes, Swerve/Christian, and Anarchy in the Arena.

– Sonjay Dutt will look to collect the bounty on Bryan Danielson, and he’s booked a match for Danielson with Satnam Singh. Let’s see Danielson work a miracle against Singh.

The full card for Dynamite:

  • The Bang Bang Gang appears.
  • Orange Cassidy & Will Ospreay v. Trent Beretta & Roderick Strong
  • Toni Storm & Mariah May v. Harley Cameron & Saraya
  • Hook v. Bryan Keith v. Katsuyori Shibata for a shot at Chris Jericho.
  • Swerve Strickland v. Nick Wayne
  • Konosuke Takeshita v. Matt Sydal
  • Kyle O’Reilly v. Malakai Black
  • Jon Moxley appears.
  • Bryan Danielson v. Satnam Singh

Brian Cage defeated  Anthony Bowens (w/ Max Caster & Billy Gunn) (11:41)

Bowens countered a hip toss attempt with a spinning DDT for a one count. Cage came back and mauled Bowens in the corner.  Cage followed up with an avalanche clothesline in the corner and a back suplex. Cage missed a charge in the corner and Bowens took him down with a dragon screw leg whip. A dropkick to the knee sent Cage tumbling to the floor. Bowens tried to dive on Cage from the apron, but Cage caught him and powerbombed him into the ringpost.

After a split screen break, Bowens dove off the middle rope into a suplex attempt from Cage, but Bowens countered with a small package for two. Bowens back-handed Cage and hit a superkick, then hit a Famouser for a near fall. Bowens went for his uranage, but Cage countered with a full nelson slam for two. Cage got hung up in the ropes, and Bowens DDT’d him into the ring apron. They fought on the ring apron. Cage hit Bowens with an outside-in superplex for another near fall.

Bowens escaped a pump handle suplex, but Cage hit a discus lariat. He went for the Drill Claw, but Bowens escaped and hit a rolling forearm, a superkick and a punt kick for two. Cage sent Bowens into the corner where he almost collided with the referee. Cage followed in the corner and almost hit the ref, and when Bowens came up behind Cage, Cage back-kicked him low, and hit the Drill Claw for the finish.

This was really good stuff with a great finish sequence, despite the screwy ending. I want to believe it was a coming out party for Bowens as a single. Or at least some renewed focus on the Acclaimed as a tag team.

Rampage returns to Friday, but a 6:30pm start.

AEW Rampage live results: Trent Beretta vs. Chuck Taylor parking lot fight

After dissolving their longtime friendship on Dynamite, former Best Friends Trent Beretta and Chuck Taylor will do battle in a parking lot fight on tonight’s live AEW Rampage from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.

The two were part of two parking lot fights as teammates in AEW. In September 2020, Taylor & Beretta defeated Santana & Ortiz in a match our Dave Meltzer rated five stars. In August 2023, they lost in a parking lot fight to Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli.

This match will be Taylor’s first since October 2023 after being sidelined due to injury.

After a partnership turned sour over the past few weeks, former AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa and Deonna Purrazzo will do battle tonight. This will be a rematch of their July 2021 match at TNA Slammiversary for Purrazzo’s then-Knockouts title.

The show begins at approximately 10:30 PM Eastern after the conclusion of Collision.

Live from Jacksonville, Florida.

Nigel McGuinness, Tony Schiavone, and Matt Menard were on commentary.

Trent Beretta defeated Chuck Taylor in a Parking Lot Brawl (10:10)

Beretta and Taylor were bumping into cars and the concrete a minute into the match. McGuinness suggested someone should get into one of the cars and just run over their opponent. Taylor was bleeding very early on when he powerbombed Beretta onto the hood of a car. Beretta and Taylor fought onto the roof of a pickup, and Taylor went through some drywall that had been set up in the truck bed. Beretta jumped from the roof of one car onto another to drop an elbow on Taylor for a near fall.

After a split-screen break, Taylor dodged a flying flatscreen TV, then suplexed Beretta through a door. Taylor broke more drywall on Beretta’s back and hit him with a trash can. Taylor beat on Beretta with a metal dustpan and a trash can. Beretta came back by press-slamming Taylor through some lighting tubes. At some point, Beretta got busted open, too. Taylor sent Beretta through the windshield of a car with a crucifix powerbomb.

Bloodied, both guys fought their way to the roof of a car. They exchanged forearms until. Beretta hit Taylor with a lowblow Beretta dropped him with a piledriver then locked in a gogoplata on the roof of the car. Taylor could not defend himself, and the ref ended the match.

After the match, Orange Cassidy and Kris Statlander came out to check on Taylor, but not before Beretta hit Taylor in his ankle with a plumber’s wrench. Cassidy chased off Beretta while Taylor was tended to. In the back, Don Callis was shown watching and nodding approvingly.

This match did nothing for me, but Beretta with Callis could be interesting.

– Kyle O’Reilly cut an endearing promo about wrestling for AEW on May 11th in his hometown of Vancouver.

Thunder Rosa defeated Deonna Purrazzo (11:05)

Rosa leveled Purrazzo with a forearm. Purrazzo came back with an armbar takedown and started working on the arm. Purrazzo tied up Rosa in the bottom rope and hit her with a sliding dropkick. It looked like Rosa slipped off the middle ropes going for a dropkick, and Purrazzo quickly covered by putting Rosa in a Boston Crab. Purrazzo dropped to the floor while the ref checked on Rosa. The fight went to the floor, where Purrazzo caught Rosa with a pump kick.

After a commercial, the fight was back in the ring where Rosa caught Purrazzo with a dropkick off the middle rope. Purrazzo went for a german suplex, but Rosa rolled through and caught her with a stomp for a near fall. Rosa came off the top, but Purrazzo caught her with an armbar. Rosa transitioned into a choke. Purrazzo used her size advanatge to break the hold.

Purrazzo went for a piledriver, but Rosa countered that with a cradle, which lead to series of near falls off of cradle attempts. Purrazzo went back to the armbar, but Rosa countered that with a cradle and got the pinfall.

After the match, Purrazzo attacked Rosa and sent her into the steel barricade. Rosa and Purrazzo battled into the crowd until security separated them.

– The Righteous wished Tony Khan a speedy recovery (since they are experts at neck health), and Roderick Strong said Will Ospreay fall to him at Double or Nothing.

Big Bill defeated Trevor Blackwell (1:37)

Bill spent the whole match talking to Chirs Jericho (through the TV cameras) while destorying the poor kid, hitting him with a black hole slam, an short-arm clothesline and a chokeslam before pinning him under one foot.

Chris Jericho was shown watching from the back, clearly impressed.

Katsuyori Shibata & Daniel Garcia defeated Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty (14:56)

Anthony Ogogo joined the commetary team for the main event.

Garcia & Shibata wrestled in matching tights. The fight started out on the floor. It settled in the ring with Taylor and Shibata. Taylor dropped Shibata with a right hand. Garcia got a tag and hit Moriarty with the twist and shout. Taylor tripped up Garica as he was running the ropes and planted him with a hanging DDT on the floor.

Back in the ring, Garcia tried to make a comeback but Taylor floored him with a forearm. Taylor dropped Garcia with a uranage, then followed up with a big splash for a near fall.

After a spliot-screen break, Taylor missed a splash off the middle ropes on Garcia. Moriarty got the tag and worked on Garcia’s arm. Tony: “He could have broken his hand!” Nigel: “I guess he’ll have to use the other hand tonight.” I’m sure Nighel meant for the hot tag… which he soon got to Shibata. Shibata worked over Taylor in a corner and dropped Moriarty with a forearm.

Shibata and Garcia hit diving dropkicks in the corner. Shibata hit a running boot on Taylor in the corner. Shibata beat on Taylor in the corner with chops and jabs, while Garcia danced to the rhythm of the beating.

Garcia and Shibata then combined to suplex Talyor. Taylor then countered a second at a double suplex attmpt by suplexing them both. Moriarty tried to work over Shibata in the croner with chops and jabs, but Shibata no sold it. Taylor interfered, and Moriarty hit a facelock suplex for a near fall.

Moriarty locked Shibata in a full nelson for a right hand from Taylor, but Shibata escaped and he and Garcia locked both their opponents in sleeperholds. Talyor tried to back Garcia into the corner to escape, but Shibata caught Taylor with a kick, and Garica backdropped suplexed Taylor. Shiabata hit the PK on Morarity and got the pinfall. Fun tag match! I want more of this Shibata/Garcia tag team.

On Dyanmite Wednesday:

  • Kenny Omega returns!
  • We’ll learn the main event of Double or Nothing
  • Mariah May will take on Serena Deeb
  • Adam Copeland will take on a member of the House of Black (who is almost definitely Buddy Matthews)
  • Chris Jericho defends the FTW title against Shibata.

This was the most fun Rampage I’ve seen in awhile.

AEW Rampage live results: Julia Hart vs. Leyla Hirsch TBS title match

The TBS Championship is on the line in an Open House match on this week’s AEW Rampage.

Julia Hart defends her TBS title against “Legit” Leyla Hirsch in an Open House match, where rope breaks are not enforced, the countouts are 20 seconds, DQs will be enforced, and the challenger gets to choose a stipulation. Hirsch made the challenge to Hart on last week’s Rampage.

Three more matches have also been announced for tonight’s episode.

Orange Cassidy is also in action on tonight’s episode against Alex Reynolds of The Dark Order.

The Bang Bang Gang’s Jay White — an ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champion — goes one-on-one with Matt Sydal.

“Cool Hand Ang” Angelo Parker will take on Zak Knight in a bout that was originally advertised for Collision on March 16, but pulled from the show. Parker is aligned with former Outcast Ruby Soho, while Knight is aligned with Harley Cameron and his sister Saraya.

**********

Taped in Charleston, West Virginia.

Excalibur, Chris Jericho and Tony Schivone were on commentary.

Orange Cassidy defeated Alex Reynolds (w/ John Silver) (10:33)

Silver and Reynolds mock Cassidy with a pre-match hug. Cassidy caught Silver with a spinning DDT. Silver ducked to the floor to avoid the Orange Punch, but Cassidy followed Silver with a tope. Cassidy abused Silver on the floor by whipping him into the ring barricade.

Back in the ring, Reynolds caught Cassidy with a forearm. While Reynolds distracted the referee, Silver pulled Cassidy out of the ring and gave him a brainbuster on the floor. Back in the ring, Cassidy caught Reynolds with a sunset flip for a near fall. Reynolds came back with a back elbow, then a hangman’s neckbreaker for a near fall.

Reynolds dominated Cassidy through the commercial break. After the break, Cassidy made his comeback with a shotgun dropkick and stomps in the corner. Cassidy came off the top with a crossbody, then took out Silver with a tope. Reynolds caught Cassidy with a pop-up knee strike and a stuff piledriver for a near fall.

Cassidy went to the top, but Silver crotched him. Reynolds took Cassidy down with an avalanche stunner for a near fall. Silver tried to give Cassidy a brainbuster on the floor again, but Cassidy countered with a slumdog millionaire. Reynolds caught Silver with a crossbody, Cassidy took out Silver with a Orange Punch. Cassidy finished off Reynolds with the Orange Punch for the win.

After the match, Renee Paquette tried to interview Cassidy, but Trent Beretta came down to ringside. Chuck Taylor came up from behind Cassidy to stop Beretta. Beretta left, then Taylor left. And Cassidy never said anything.

– Alex Marvez interviewed Anna Jay, who doesn’t think anyone is taking the women’s division seriously. AZM from Stardom interrupted, called Toni Storm’s crew stupid, and challenged her to a singles match on Collision. Later in the show, it was announced Storm and AZM will face off in an Eliminator Match on Collision.

Julia Hart defeated Leyla Hirsch to retain the TBS Championship (3:13)

This match was set up by Hirsch challenging Hart on Rampage last week, and Hart accepting that challenge. The House Rules stipulation has Brody King barred from ringside.

Hart has a teddy bear tattooed on her arm now, and I don’t know if that’s too cute or it ups the creep factor. Hart tripped up Hirsch and gave her a neckbreaker in the ropes. Hart wrapped up Hirsch in a head scissors in the ropes (kind of like Tajiri’s tarantula move) while mugging to the crowd. Hart did a cartwheel into a near bodyvice from Hirsch, who dumped her to the mat. Hirsch followed her out with a tope. Back in the ring, Hart reversed a small package and got the three out. Hart was selling her shoulder (which was taped up) after the match.

– Don Callis coaches up Powerhouse Hobbs and Kyle Fletcher in advance of their tag match tomorrow night with Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli. Callis ordered them take them out like they used to in the old Portland territory (“Take his eye out!”) to protect the “golden goose” of the Callis family, Will Ospreay.

Zak Knight defeated Angelo Parker (w/ Saraya & Harley Cameron) (6:38 aired)

This is Knight’s AEW debut (on TV anyway) in a match built up exclusively on Rampage. Parker and Knight brawled around ringside before the match started. Knight sent Parker into the ring barricade and the time keeper’s area. Parker was busted open in the brawl on the floor.

When the match officially started in the ring, Knight worked over the cut on Parker’s head.

After a split screen break, Parker hit Knight with an implant DDT. Saraya and Cameron both got up on the apron to distract the referee Rick Knox, and Knox ejected them. Knight kicked Parker low and hit a pop-up powerbomb for two. Knight told Parker “I’ll take good care of Ruby!” and that sparked a brief comeback from Parker. Knight floored Parker with a lariat for two, then finished off Parker with a running forearm. Parker has now lost his mentor (Jericho), the girl (Soho) and the match. So what’s left for him?

– Alex Marvez interviewed Kyle O’Reilly & Rocky Romero. O’Reilly wants a match with Romero, which Romero will give him a match after he beats Roderick Strong for the International Title. Romero left and Strong arrived, offended that O’Reilly wants a shot at the International Title. Strong wants O’Reilly to be a champion, just not the International Champion.

– Excalibur ran down all two of the upcoming Blackpool Combat Club v. Don Callis Family matches ahead of the Bryan Danielson/Will Opsreay match at Dynasty.

Also announced for Collision, The House of Black will take on Action Andretti, Dante Martin and Matt Sydal.

Jay White (w/ The Gunn Club)  defeated Matt Sydal (11:21)

Sydal was going for his 50th win in this match.

Sydal countered a pop-up powerbomb with a rana, then caught White with a steup up rana. Sydal hit a standing mariposa. White went to the floor, and Sydal followed him out with a meteora. Back in the ring, White caught Sydal with a stunner in the ropes. White suplexed Sydal face first into the ring apron.

After a split-screen break, White worked over Sydal with a chinlock. Sydal came back with a knee strike and a leg lariat. Sydal hit a series of kicks on White for a near fall. Sydal missed a move off the top, but countered a powerbomb attempt with a DDT for a near fall.

Sydal caught White with a roll up for a near fall. White hit a uranage for a near fall. White went for a sleeper suplex, but Sydal flipped through it and landed on his feet. Sydal took White down with a poisoned rana. Sydal came off the top looking for a metetora, but White stepped back and took out Sydal with the Blade Runner and got the pinfall. White really needed a squash here after getting dominated by Billy Gunn last week.

This was a pretty uninspired episode of Rampage, and Battle of the Belts X doesn’t look any better.

AEW Rampage live results: Malakai Black vs. Christopher Daniels

Malakai Black wrestles a rare singles match on tonight’s AEW Rampage.

In just his second singles match in AEW since 2022, the leader of the House of Black faction faces Christopher Daniels on this week’s Rampage episode after Daniels issued a challenge to Black on last week’s Collision show.

A Final Four elimination match will also take place on tonight’s program, with Daniel Garcia vs. Action Andretti vs. Bryan Keith vs. Komander.

In the women’s division, Serena Deeb will go one-on-one with Trish Adora on tonight’s episode.

In an International title eliminator match, Roderick Strong will face London Lightning in a bout where Lightning will earn a title shot if he beats Strong, the International Champion.

Tonight’s Rampage episode was taped last Saturday in London, Ontario, Canada at the Budweiser Gardens, and goes head-to-head with the ROH Supercard of Honor event streaming on Honor Club. Spoilers for Rampage are available here.

**********

Taped in London, Ontario.

Tony Schiavone, Ian Riccaboni and Nigel McGuinness were on commentary. Ian and Nigel are doing their best impersonation of Rick Rude by being in two places at once tonight (they were also doing commentary for the ROH show).

Malakai Black (w/ Buddy Matthews) defeated Christopher Daniels (8:11)

Daniels went down hard after a knee, slumping over in the corner. Another kick sent Daniels to the floor, where he was attacked by Buddy Matthews. Black floored Daniels with a back elbow for a near fall. A sliding kick from Matthews while the ref was distracted got Black another near fall. This match should already be over and it’s heading into a commercial break.

After the break, Daniels made a comeback against both Matthews and Black, sending Matthews into the ring post on the floor then hitting Black with a flatliner in the ring. A release German suplex and a high angle death valley driver lead to a near fall. Black escaped the Angles Wings, then caught Daniels with a kick to the back of the head for a near fall that should have been the finish. Daniels got a pair of near falls off of cradles, then walked into the Black Mass. That was it for Daniels.

Feels like they’re mailing in the show when it starts with Christopher Daniels.

Roderick Strong (w/ Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) defeated London Lightning in an AEW International Championship Eliminator Match (5:34)

Strong interviewed Lightning before the match, who is from London, Ontario. London’s mom is rooting her son on at home from the couch. Not in the arena? It’s not like the show was sold out.

The crowd actually got behind Lightning, who caught Strong with a high knee. Strong came back with a high backdrop suplex. Lightning kicked out after a backbreaker, which the crowd reacted to. The crowd rallied behind Lightning, but Strong cut off his comeback and locked in a surfboard. Lightning caught Strong with a couple of cradles for near falls. Lightning hit a suplex and popped the crowd. Lightning took out Taven with a plancha, but Wardlow came out of nowhere and floored Lightning with a clothesline. Back in the ring, Strong locked in a Texas Cloverleaf for the submission.

Now someone should bring back the figure four leglock as a finisher.

– Legit Leyla Hirsch challenged Julia Hart to an Open House match for the TBS Championship on Rampage next week.

Serena Deeb defeated Trish Adora (8:55 aired)

Deeb used the Paradise Lock on Adora, which was the highlight of the night. Crowd didn’t react much to it, which is a shame. Adora picked up Deeb for a slam but dropped Deeb on her knee in a ugly looking bump.

After a split-screen break, Deeb caught Adora with a hangman’s neckbreaker while she was in the ropes, effectively giving her a back breaker against the middle rope. Deeb ran into a boot, but caught Adora with a dragon screw leg whip. The crowd was so quiet the only thing you could hear was Deeb and Adora screaming, which was unnerving.

Adora caught Deeb with a full nelson bomb for a near fall. Deeb and Adora exchanged blows until Deeb dropped Adora with a German suplex. Deeb locked in the Serenity Lock to get the submission. This felt like the second hour of the Ring of Honor taping after Collision.

– Julia Hart accepted Leyla Hirsch’s challenge for next week.

– Saraya, Harely Cameron and Zak Knight continued their weird angle that’s been going on on Rampage for what feels like years by chasing Alex Marvez away during an interview. I think they’re finally getting to the match between Knight and Angelo Parker next week.

Daniel Garcia defeated Komander, Bryan Keith and Action Andretti in a Final Four Elimination Match in 14:01.

During the match, it’s announced that despite losing in her match, Trish Adora will have a match with Yuki Sakazaki on Collision tomorrow night. If wins and losses matter, why does it feel like the losers keep getting rewarded with more matches? This happened a lot with Bryan Keith and Queen Aminata earlier this year.

The match started with Garcia and Keith brawling on the floor while Komander and Andretti did cool flashy stuff in the ring.

Andretti jumped off top rope with a springboard and ran into a right hand from Garcia. Keith set up Komander for a headbutt. Komader countered a tiger driver with a rana into a cadle for a pinfall to eliminate Keith at 3:33

The action picked during the split-screen break.

After the break, Andretti dropped Garcia with a death valley driver on the ring apron. Andretti followed up with an Arabian press on the floor. Komander took out Andretti with a boot, then hit an Asai moonsault on both his opponents.

Back in the ring, Komander jumped into a torture rack into a cutter from Andretti, and he got the pinfall at 8:35

Andretti caught Garcia with a superkick, but Garcia came back by clipping Andretti in the knee. Garcia worked over Andretti’s knee. Adndretti caught Garcia with a small package for a near fall. Andretti kipped up but still sold the knee a bit. Andretti went for a standing shooting star press, but Garcia grabbed an ankle lock. After a few teases, Andretti escaped by sending Garcia to the floor. Andretti followed him out with a plancha.

Back in the ring, Andretti came off the top with a clothesline for a near fall. Andretti tried for the rack again, but Garcia escaped. Garcia and Andretti exchanged strikes. Garcia went for a piledriver, but Andretti backdropped out of it and caught Garcia with a falcon arrow for a near fall. Andretti tried to rack Garcia again, but Garcia escaped. Andretti tried a handspring off the ropes, but he jumped right into Garcia’s hands, and Garcia locked in a knee bar. Andretti had no choice but to tap out.

This felt like a pretty sad show up until the main event, which was pretty good. Probably not worth going out of your way to see with the million other hours of wrestling on this weekend.

AEW Rampage live results: International title eliminator

An International title eliminator match is set for tonight’s AEW Rampage.

AEW International Champion Roderick Strong of The Undisputed Kingdom will face “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard in a title eliminator bout where Menard gets a title shot if he wins.

Also set for the show, Dustin Rhodes will go one-on-one with The Butcher.

In the women’s division, Mariah May will take on Nikita. May placed second in the latest AEW rankings that were revealed Wednesday night following this week’s Dynamite.

Deonna Purrazzo will also be in action in another women’s division contest.

AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm will speak on tonight’s episode.

A ‘family dinner” segment with The Bang Bang Gang’s Jay White, Austin Gunn, & Colten Gunn has also been advertised for the show.

Tonight’s episode was taped Wednesday, March 27 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada at the Centre Videotron. Spoilers from the show are available here.

Taped in Québec City, Québec, Canada.

They’ve updated the intro graphics for Rampage to feature a lot of people who will probably never be on Rampage.

Tony Scihavone & Excalibur were on commentary.

Dustin Rhodes defeated The Butcher (10:38)

This is a “big time grudge match” according to the commentary. Really? Wasn’t this just set up in an interview two nights ago? And the chyron guy was reaching for a stat for Butcher’s graphic, noting he’s the record holder for eliminations in AEW battle royals.

Butcher cleverly avoided Rhodes’ drop-down uppercut. On the floor, Rhodes floored Butcher with a clothesline and a dragon screw leg whip. Back in the ring, Butcher worked over Rhodes’ arm. Butcher is supposed to be a monster in AEW, but he just looks normal sized next to Dustin. A shoulder tackle sent Rhodes to the floor, where Butcher slammed Rhodes’ arm into the steel stairs and ringpost. Back in the ring, Butcher caught Rhodes with a backbreaker.

After a split-screen break, Rhodes caught Butcher with a Code Red for a near fall. Schiavone plugged this year’s Double or Nothing in Las Vegas for the first time on AEW TV. Rhodes hit a lariat and started his comeback. Rhodes hit the drop-down uppercut, then pounded away on Butcher in the corner. Rhodes hit the spinning powerslam for a near fall. Rhodes countered a Cross Rhodes attempt with a throw, then locked in a crossface. Rhodes escaped by getting his foot on the bottom rope. Rhodes hit the Cross Rhodes out of nowhere, then hit the Final Reckoning for the pinfall. I was looking for a little more out of this than we got; it was just there.

– Jay White and The Gunn Club completed a little minor home invasion at Billy Gunn’s house. It’s not a crime if you’re related though, according to Austin. White challenged the Acclaimed for the AEW Trios titles. White is about to smash Billy’s big screen TV (which is on even though no one was home) but Billy and his wife arrive and the heels run off. This was fun.

– Recap of the tag team tournament.

Deonna Purrazzo defeated Rose (3:47)

Rose wrestled barefoot and has a lot of flower tattoos. Purrazzo dominated this match. Purrazzo absolutely murdered her with a boot, then hit her so hard with a forearm I think Rose owes her money. Purrazzo took Rose down with an armbar and pulled back on Rose’s arm until she tapped out.

– Highlights from Danielson/Shibata and Ospreay/Shibata. Will Ospreay pointed out that Danielson kind of snuck by with a victory, but Ospreay dominated Shibata and was “just out there being the best wrestler in the world.”

Mariah May (w/ Toni Storm & Luther) defeated Nikita (6:01 aired)

Before the match, Toni Storm announced that she was not able to wrestle tonight (though I do not believe she was advertised for this match) and announced her “capable understudy” Mariah May would wrestle in her stead. May hit a shotgun dropkick and spinning backbreaker to take control.

After a commercial break, Nikita caught May with a bulldog for a near fall. May escaped a double-underhook and hit a headbutt for a near fall. May hit the hip attack in the corner, then the “May Day” (a sitout death valley driver) for the pinfall. May is now 6-0 and “a juggernaut in the women’s division” according to Schiavone.

– In the back, Lexi Nair asked Zak Knight how he feels about being called a coward by Angelo Parker. It doesn’t take long for Parker to run in and attack with a pipe. This upset Ruby Soho for some reason, who kissed Parker, then left.

– A vignette for the Righteous. They’ll team with Lance Archer tomorrow night against Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli & Katsuyori Shibata on Collision tomorrow night.

Roderick Strong (w/ Mike Bennett and Matt Taven) defeated “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard in an AEW International Title Eliminator Match (12:47)

Menard (“Papa Magie” in Québec) has the hometown crowd behind him, who are finally reacting to something tonight. Menard took the fight to the floor, where he clobbered Strong with punches. Back in the ring, Menard hit a shoulder tackle off the middle ropes.

During the break, Strong backdropped suplexed Menard on the ring apron. After the break, Strong was in control with a reverse chinlock. Menard fought out of the chinlock, then took a knee to the midsection. Menard “hulked up” and hit a series of clotheslines. Menard hit an uranage for a near fall. Strong backdropped out of a piledriver attempt, but Menard caught him with a rollup for a near fall.

Strong came back with a version of the Juice Box for a near fall. Menard locked in a Boston crab, but Strong got to the ropes to force a break. Taven tried to distract Menard, but it backfired and Menard hit Strong with a cutter for another near fall. Taven and Bennett both got up on the apron to distract Menard again, and this allowed Strong to hit Menard with a high knee and get the pinfall. Man, what a letdown. Menard looked like the biggest babyfaces in this match (getting cheered by his home country fans). He could have won here and Strong could have beaten him next week. Strong winning the International title has really devalued it.

After the match, The Best Friends ran off The Kingdom before they could beat Menard with a steel chair. But before the Best Friends could give the people what they want, the Young Bucks snuck in with a pair of low blows, then took them out with a double EVP trigger.

AEW Rampage live results: Tag Team title tournament continues

The tournament to fill the vacant AEW Tag Team Championship continues on tonight’s live Rampage with a wild card bout.

Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta will face Powerhouse Hobbs & Kyle Fletcher of The Don Callis Family with the winners advancing to the quarterfinals to face current Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions Mike Bennett & Matt Taven of The Undisputed Kingdom.

The 10-team field for the tournament will be narrowed to eight following tonight’s Dynamite and Rampage action. The titles were vacated by Sting & Darby Allin following Sting’s retirement match at AEW Revolution earlier this month.

TBS Champion Julia Hart & Skye Blue will team against Kris Statlander & Willow Nightingale in a street fight.

Coming off his victory over Komander last Friday, Konosuke Takeshita will battle Ricky Romero while former Ring of Honor TV Champion Katsuyori Shibata will be back in action after losing to Bryan Danielson last Saturday.

Live from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

…Adam Copeland defeated Christian Cage in an “I Quit” Match for the TNT title.

I’m not sure if this is the overrun from Dynamite or the start of Rampaage. But joined in progress, Copeland tried to submit Cage with a hockey-stick assistant crossface, but Cage couldn’t spit out the words I Quit. The rest of the Patriarchy interfered to help Cage, but Matt Menard and Daniel Garcia came in to even the odds. All the members of the Patricarchy ended up handcuffed to opposite corners of the ring. Well, except Shayna Wayne, who ran to the back After several kicks to the groin, Cage still would not quit. Finally, Copeland pulled out “SPIKE,” and even a shot to the “crotch” (really the turnbuckle but play along) with SPIKE wasn’t enough to get him to quit. Finally, Copeland raised SPIKE above his head, and the threat of that was enough to get Cage to quit. That was a complete and total blowoff to this feud. I missed the first part of the match but the finish was suitably epic.

– Bullet Club Gold was in Florida in a pre-taped bit, enjoying a vacation as a reward for “saving Darby Allinls life.” I guess injuring him kept him from dying on Mount Everest.  They also repainted Sting’s black bat gold. And The Gunns are ready to retire their father.

– Renee Paquette brought out the Acclaimed in front of the live crowd to retort. Billy Gunn was not cleared to travel after getting jumped by the Bullet Club Gold. Caster got the “A$$ Boys!” chant going. This was very much a time-killing promo while the ring cleaned up the ring from the I Quit match. The upshot of the promo was the Acclaimed want Jay White and the Gunn Club.

Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta defeated Klye Fletcher & Powerhouse Hobbs (w/ Don Callis)  in a Wild Card match for the World Tag Team Title Tournament (10:31)

The winner advances to face the Undisputed Kingdom in the quarterfinals.

Hobbs hit Cassidy with a spinebuster immediately and almost got the pinfall. Beretta and Hobbs tossed Beretta into the barricade on the floor. Cassidy tried a dive to the floor, but Hobbs caught him and smashed him against the ring apron several times. Beretta came back for his team, taking both his opponents out with a dive onto the floor.

Back in the ring, Beretta chopped Hobbs in the corner and dumped Fletcher with a German suplex. Beretta went for a spinning DDT, but Fletcher blocked it, and Hobbs and Fletcher took out Beretta with a pendulum bomb.

After a split screen break, Beretta caught Fletcher with a spinning DDT, dumped Hobbs to the floor and got the tag to Cassidy. Cassidy took Fletcher out with a crossbody, then followed up with a spinning DDT for a near fall. Cassidy caught Hobbs with a superkick, but Hobbs floored him with a forearm. Hobbs racked Cassidy, and after a pair of forearms from Hobbs, Cassidy was able to break free and sunset flip Hobbs for a near fall. Hobbs floored Cassidy with a bodyblock.

Fletcher dropped Beretta with a half-and-half suplex. Cassdiy caught Fletcher with the Slumdog Millionaire, then Hobbs barreled through both Cassidy and Hobbs. Hobbs threw Cassidy like a sack of flour into the LED boards. Somehow, Cassidy got Hobbs up for a Beach Break on the floor. Back in the ring, Fletcher hit a spinning tombstone on Cassidy for a near fall. Fletcher was bleeding heavily from the mouth.

Fletcher set Cassidy up for a superplex, but Beretta made the save and hit a half-and-half suplex off the top. Cassidy came off the top on Fletcher with a diving DDT, Beretta took out Hobbs with a spear on the floor, and Cassidy hit the Orange Punch for the pinfall.

This was something else.

Katsuyori Shibata defeated Kevin Matthews (1:20)

Crowd popped huge for Shibata, who mauled Matthews with forearms and hit the dropkick in the corner. Matthews came back with a clothesline. Shibata escaped a fireman’s carry and locked in a sleeper, than hit the PK for the quick victory.

Konosuke Takeshita (w/ Don Callis) defeated Rocky “Azucar” Romero (8:52)

Romero lured Takeshita into a hard slap, then caught Takeshita with a step-up rana. Takeshita caught Romero with a sit-out death valley driver, then a dropkick.

During the split-screen break, Romeo countered what looked to be an avalanche back suplex with a sliced break off the top rope. Back to full-screen action, Romero hit a pair of dives on the floor, but on the third one Takeshita caught him and tried for a suplex, with Romero escaped. Takeshita tried for a forearm but Romeo ducked and Takeshita hit the post.

Back in the ring, Romero hit the sliced break for a near fall. Romero snapped Takeshita’s arm, and caught him with a cross-arm breaker. Don Callis jumped up on the ring apron to distract Romero, causing Romero to break the hold. Romero went for the sliced bread again, but Takeshita countered and got Romero into the package tombstone. Takeshita hit a spinning blue thunder bomb for a near fall. Romero mounted another comeback and Takeshita floored Romero with a clothesline. Takeshita leveled Romero with a forearm, then hit the spinning falcon arrow for the pinfall.

This was great.

Skye Blue & Julia Hart defeated Willow Nightingale & Kris Statlander (w/ Stokely Hathaway) in a Street Fight

The faces came out with chairs and the heels came out with kendo sticks. That didn’t go well for Hart and Blue. Hart got wedged in the chair. Statlander gave her a backbreaker while she was in the chair, and Nightingale hit a sliding boot on Hart.

Nightingale got a table from under the ring that Statlander set up in the corner. Hart found a spike, but when she went to use it on Statlander, she ducked and Hart spiked Blue instead.

During the split-screen break, Statlander and Hart crashed into the table in a spot I couldn’t really see.

Back to full-screen action. As the crowd was chanting “This is Awesome,” Nightingale slammed Blue on the floor. Nightingale tried to set up Blue for a powerbomb on the commentary table, but Blue countered into a Code Blue on the table.

Back in the ring, Blue dumped a bag of thumbtacks in the ring. Statlander pulled out her own bag of tacks and dumped them in the ring as well. Blue powerbombed Statlander out of the corner and into the tacks for a near fall. Blue put the tacks into Statlander’s mouth and hit a superkick for another near fall. The crowd chanted “You Sick [Person]!” at Blue, who ate it up. Blue tried to go to the top, but Nightingale grabbed her and drove her through a pair of tables with a death valley driver.

Back in the ring, Hart tried for a piledriver on Statlander, but Statlander backdropped her into a pile of chairs. Statlander went for a 450, but Hart got out of the way and locked in Hartless.  Hart got the submission when Statlander tapped out.

AEW Rampage live results: Takeshita vs. Komander

Konosuke Takeshita faces Komander on tonight’s AEW Rampage.

In Takeshita’s first match since dropping a bout to Will Ospreay at Revolution earlier this month, the star returns to the ring against Komander in the lone singles match on tonight’s episode.

Three more matches are also set for tonight’s show.

AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm will team with Mariah May against two enhancement talents on tonight’s episode.

Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta of Best Friends will take on The Dark Order’s Evil Uno & John Silver in tag team action on this evening’s show.

In a trios match, Top Flight’s Darius Martin, Dante Martin & Action Andretti will face AEW International Champion Roderick Strong & ROH World Tag Team Champions Mike Bennett & Matt Taven of The Undisputed Kingdom.

This week’s Rampage episode was taped Wednesday night in Boston at TD Garden. Spoilers from the show are available here.

Taped in Bo$$ton, Ma$$achu$ett$.

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone & Chris Jericho were on commentary. On the outset, Tony offered condolences to the family of Jackie Crockett, who passed away this week.

Trent Beretta & Orange Cassidy (w/ Chuck Taylor) defeated Evil Uno & John Silver (9:45)

The two guys from Dark Order, who have been a team since literally the first AEW show, are, according to Excalibur, going to “play spoiler” to Trent & Cassidy, who started teaming last week. I mean I know it’s not THIS iteration of the Dark Order that debuted 5 years ago but I still kinda feel the Dark Order should be the favorites here.

Anyway, this was all comedy. Beretta dropped Uno with a back suplex for a near fall. Cassidy went for a move off the top, but Silver pressed him out of the corner and slammed him. Beretta caught Silver with a standing meteora. Cassidy caught Uno with a Slumdog Millionaire, but Uno came back with Everything is Evil for a near fall.

After a split-screen break, Beretta got the tag and hit a bunch of suplexes on his opponents. Beretta went for a Strong Zero, but Uno caught Beretta with a boot and turned the move into a code red for the near fall. On the floor, Silver caught Taylor with a senton, Beretta caught Silver with a spear, Uno came off the top with a cannonball onto Beretta and Cassidy dove in with a DDT on Uno.

Back in the ring, Uno took out Cassidy with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Silver and Uno combined for their own version of the Wombo Combo for another near fall. Silver tried for a piledriver on Silver, but Cassidy dove in with an Orange Punch. Beretta rolled Silver into the Strong Zero while Cassidy took out Uno with an Orange Punch, and Beretta got the pinfall.

– A vignette of the Righteous, Vincent and Dutch, digging graves.

– Saraya and Harley Cameron screamed and Zack Knight, and Knight beat up two randoms backstage. Angelo Parker jumped in with a solid right, and the fight was broken up by backstage officials.

Mariah May (as Toni Storm Classic) & “Timeless” Toni Storm (w/ Luther) vs. Kayla Sparks & LMK

Timeless Toni asked the fans to turn off all cellular devices during the show, then jumped her opponents before the bell. Storm debuted a new version of the hip attack (I think), where she just thrusted her bum into her opponent, sitting on the bat. Mariah hit LMK with a spinning side slam to pop the crowd. Storm dumped each of her opponents with a release German suplex. Sparks got a classic hip attack from both the Tonis, then Storm finished off Skarps with the stuff piledriver. Storm hit LMK with one more hip attack while Mariah collected the pinfall.

After the match, Deonna Purrazzo came out with her new tag team partner… Thunder Rosa. “She’s back!” exclaimed Jericho, who I guess doesn’t watch Collision. Rosa and Purrazzo ran Toni and May off.

– Queen Aminata (undefeated in Ring of Honor) cut a promo on Red Velvet ahead of their Ring of Honor Women’s TV title tournament match next Thursday.

AEW World Tag Team Title Tournament Brackets:

Young Bucks v. Private Party

Undisputed Kingdom v. the winners of Best Friends v. The Don Callis Family (Hobbs & Kyle Fletcher)

Ricky Starks & Big Bill v. Top Flight

FTR v. the winners of Infantry & House of Black (Brody King & Buddy Matthews)

That’s it??? This promotion has a hundred teams and we’re getting 10 of them in this tournament.  LAME.

Konosuke Takeshita (w/ Don Callis) defeated Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes) (8:32 aired)

Takeshita flipped Komander over with a German suplex, then worked him over with a chinlock into the split screen break. During the split-screen break they worked in that awesome new AEW commercial which features Adam Copeland, Mercedes Mone & Julia Hart working out.

After the break, Komader walked the ropes and hit Takeshita with a moonsault on the floor. Back in the ring, Komander hit a springboard hurricanrana into a cradle for a near fall. Takeshita caught Komander coming into the corner and threw him literally halfway across the ring. Komander sprung off the ropes and into a blue thunder bomb for a near fall. Takeshita leveled Komander with a forearm. Takeshita went for a last ride powerbomb, but Komander countered that into a code red for a near fall. Komander went to the top, Takeshita tried to catch him with a superpelx, but Komader escaped and hit a destroyer for a near fall. Komader went for a shooting star press off the ropes, but Takeshita got his knees up. Takeshita hit a pop-up powerbomb, a running knee, and a spinning falcon arrow to get the pinfall. Tremendous stuff here. I can’t believe this was the match they decided to cut into with a full-screen commercial break.

– “The Professor” Serena Deeb (w/ the Mountie’s hat) cut a promo where she vowed to become champion.

Roderick Strong, Mike Bennett & Matt Taven v. Top Flight & Action Andretti

I caught a little bit of ROH last night. For the life of me I can’t figure out why Maria Bennett-Kanellis is wasting her time with Griff Garrison on that show and not part of the Undisputed Kingdom.

Strong jumped Andretti before the bell to start. Taven hit a nice–looking dropkick on Andretti for a near fall. Darius Martin got the tag and flew all over the ring against Taven. Darius fought off both Bennett and Taven two against one, then tagged in his brother Darius.

Back in the ring, Taven tripped up Darius and Bennett hit a rolling forearm. Strong got the tag and got caught with an atomic drop and a dropkick. Andretti got the tag and had a nice exchange with Strong. Andretti caught him with a standing shooting star press for a near fall. Andretti took Taven & Bennett out with a back handspring elbow, then caught Strong with a spinning kick. Top Flight and Andretti took out their opponents with dives on the floor.

During the split-screen break, The Undisputed Kingdom got the advantage.

After the break, Darius hit a Lionsault (Jericho wants royalties) and got the tag to his brother. Dante hit Bennett with a crossbody for a near fall. Darius caught Bennet with a flatliner, and Andretti came off the top with a springboard 450. Andretti sprung off the ropes and into a kick from Bennett for a near fall. Andretti got out of a spike piledriver attempt and rolled up Bennett for a near fall. Taven dove off the top and into a superkick from Andretti. He caught Strong with a superkick as well.

Darius & Andretti with for a double suplex on Bennett, but Strong ran in and hit them both with a high knee. Andretti got caught with a spike piledriver from Bennett & Taven, then suffered the End of Heartache from Strong. Strong got the pinfall.

This was good stuff.

Final Thoughts:

The Acclaimed. The Gunn Club. Some version of Penta & either Komander or PAC. The Righteous (who were featured on this show). The Gates of Agony (who always look great). Jericho and Hook (why not?). Or the Jarrett/Lethal combination. Add them and it’s a lot more fun as a sixteen team tournament. And where are Claudio and Moxley, who beat FTR at Revolution two weeks ago?!?

Next week, Rampage airs live after Dynamite.

AEW Rampage live results: TBS title match

Julia Hart defends the TBS Championship on tonight’s AEW Rampage.

Hart will put her title on the line against Robyn Renegade in her first defense since Battle of the Belts IX in January.

In a tag team bout, Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta of Best Friends will take on The Butcher & Kip Sabian. Cassidy will look to get back on the winning track after dropping the International Championship to Roderick Strong at last Sunday’s Revolution pay-per-view.

In a triple threat tag team match, Private Party’s Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy will face Top Flight’s Darius Martin & Dante Martin, and Bryan Keith & Komander.

Penta El Zero Miedo will take on Action Andretti in singles competition on the show as well.

Tonight’s Rampage was taped Wednesday night in Duluth, Georgia at the Gas South Arena. Duluth also hosted Thursday’s AEW Collision taping.

Spoilers for this week’s Rampage are available here.

Taped in Duluth, Georgia.

Tony Schiavone, Chris Jericho & Excalibur were on commentary.

Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta (w/ Chuck Taylor) defeated Kip Sabian & The Butcher (w/ The Blade) (11:12)

Beretta escaped a suplex attempt and caught Butcher with an enziguri. Sabian got the tag and fell victim to a double shoulder block from Cassidy and Beretta. Cassidy and Sabian exchanged pin attempts for a series of near falls. Cassidy caught Sabian with a spinning DDT. But, when he tried the same move on the Butcher, Butcher muscled him into a backbreaker. Sabian dropped Cassidy with a spinning backbreaker for a one count.

After a commercial break, Cassidy used pocket power to escape a double team from his opponents and make the tag to Beretta. Beretta hit a standing meteoria and a series of high angle German suplexes on Sabiant. Butcher accidentally clotheslined his partner, then fell victim to a high knee from Beretta. Beretta hit Butcher with a plancha on the floor, took Sabian down with a Saito suplex, and hit a running knee for a near fall.

Beretta went for a Strong Zero, but Butcher caught him with a boot. Butcher hit a pump handle slam, and Sabian came off the top rope with a double stomp for a near fall. Beretta caught Butcher with a German suplex, Cassidy followed up with an Orange Punch, and Beretta hit the Strong Zero to get the pinfall.

– A video package on the Infantry from Ring of Honor.

Julia Hart defeated Robyn Renegade for the TBS Championship (3:41)

Julia Hart doesn’t miss a beat in this character. The “Dealer’s Choice” rule for this match was no moves off the top rope. The crowd chanted “Women’s Wrestling!” at the start of the match. Hart banged the back of Renegade’s head against the mat and choked her against the ropes. Hart hit a nice looking vertical suplex.

Renegade fought out of a chinlock and hit a shotgun dropkick in the corner. Hart responded with a clothesline in the corner and a lariat to the back of the head, then locked in the Hartless for the submission. The rare AEW women’s match on Rampage that isn’t wrestled mostly during a commercial break.

– Saraya interrupted Renee Paquette’s segment backstage so her brother could beat up some random stage hands.

Penta El Zero Miedo (w/ Alex Abrantes) defeated Action Andretti (7:58 aired)

A couple of sling blades took Andretti down, but he came back with a spinning DDT. Penta cut off a plancha attempt with a hook kick. Penta tossed Andretti onto the floor. Penta tried to whip Andretti into the post, but he leaped up onto the apron and sprung back with a hurricanrana to take Penta down.

After a commercial break, Penta caught Andretti with a superkick, but Andretti came back with a spanish fly. Andretti ran into another pair of superkicks, and a spinning death valley driver got Penta a near fall. Penta went for the Fear Factor, but Andritt escaped and took Penta down with a poisoned rana for a near fall. Andretti went for a torino, but Penta caught him with a nasty superkick. Penta stuffed Andretti with the Fear Factor to get the pinfall.

– Courtesy of CMLL and ROH, a video package of Titán aired. Titán will take on Chris Jericho tomorrow night on Collision.

Top Flight defeated Komander & Bryan Keith (w/ Alex Abrahantes) in a three-way match which also included Private Party (10:58)

If Justin Roberts is to be believed, Private Party are going by “Zay” and “Quen” now.

It took less than 2 minutes for the match to break down into a pier-six brawl. Private Party dumped Komander and Keith to the floor, then Top Flight sent them to the floor with dropkicks. Soon all six men were fighting on the floor.

After a split-screen break, Keith tried to get the tag to Komander, but Quen pulled Komander off the apron. Private Party continued the double team on Keith in their corner. Keith countered a Twist of Fate. Keith had to tag Darius Martin, who took the fight to Private Party. Darius hit a flatliner/DDT combo on both members of Private Party for a near fall.

Komander got the blind tag and took out Darius with a springboard dropkick. Private Party hit Komander with a 3D/Hot Shot combo for a near fall. Bryan Keith broke up another double team attempt, and Komander nearly got the pin with a backslide.

Darius Martin took Quen out with a clothesline. Dante went for his finisher on Komander, who countered with a cradle for two. Top Flight double-teamed Komander. Dante took out Keith with a superkick, then hit Private Party with a dive to the floor. Darius finished off Komander with what I’ll call a ripcord into a sit-out facebuster for the pinfall.

AEW Rampage live results: Riho returns

Former Women’s World Champion Riho returns on tonight’s AEW Rampage.

Appearing for the first time in AEW in 2024, Riho will face Trish Adora in a women’s division contest. Riho last wrestled for AEW at Worlds End in December in an unsuccessful Women’s World title challenge against Toni Storm.

A qualifying bout for the Revolution All-Star Scramble match is also set for tonight’s episode. Matt Sydal faces CMLL’s Magnus in the qualifier, with the winner advancing to the Scramble set for Sunday’s pay-per-view. The Scramble winner will receive a future World title shot.

Another CMLL star will be in action on tonight’s episode, as Rugido takes on the Blackpool Combat Club’s Claudio Castagnoli.

A trios match with Lance Archer teaming with Vincent & Dutch of The Righteous has also been announced for tonight’s card.

This week’s Rampage was taped last Saturday in Springfield, Missouri. Spoilers for the show are available here.

Claudio Castignoli defeated Rugido

Rugido goes for the ground game quickly, but Castignoli locked on a crossfrace quickly before an escape. Castignoli stomped away before working on the arm for a bit and then landing a slingshot into the throat of Rugido for two. Rugido sent him down on the floor with an Asai moonsault with ease. Claudio recovered and landed a corner uppercut before a lariat for two. Rugido landed a snap powerslam for two. Claudio avoided a cross armbreaker and locked on the giant swing instead that gets two. The Neutralizer is applied and Castignoli earns a pre-Revolution win!

Post-match, Castignoli hits him low and Magnus makes a save while Castignoli ran away triumphant. A recap airs of Sting outsmarting the Young Bucks on Wednesday night’s Dynamite – it’s surreal to see Sting and Flair closing out a TNT video package in 2024 after seeing them close out Nitro 23 years ago.

A recap of Samoa Joe’s path of destruction as AEW World Champion airs before showcasing the issues between Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page to set the stage for the triple threat AEW World Title match at Revolution. Lance Archer and The Righteous make their way to the ring to massacre dudes. The Righteous’ theme alongside Vincent’s snapping works so much better than it should.

Lance Archer and The Righteous defeat Anaya, Vaught, and Luke Langley

Vincent snapped his way out of a tie-up attempt before a flying forearm and a snap flatliner. Dutch is tagged in to club away and land a slick gutwrench powerbomb. Langley gets tagged in and eats a black hole slam before Archer tagged in to clothesline Vaught. Anaya ate the run-up cutter from the Righteous and the Blackout from Archer won the day for this new trios team that feels tailor-made for the ROH Six-Man Titles.

The history between Deonna Purrazzo and “Timeless” Toni Storm is recapped before their Revolution Women’s World Title match.

Riho defeated Trish Adora

Riho, the ultimate babyface, started off by hopping and dancing around the ring a bit before the tieup after Matt Menard scolded Adora for her team stealing some of the Outrunners’ classic offense. Adora is sent outside by a Riho dropkick before Riho perched herself on the top rope for a crossbody to the floor and throws her in for two. A mid-ring crossbody from Riho is met with a powerslam into a twisting Irish curse for two.

During the break, Adora dealt out some damage with an over the knee submission and kicks to the spine of a seated Riho. Adora continued the assault on the back by catching Riho during a headscissor attempt and landed a side backbreaker. Riho finally got the crossbody for two and fired up enough to get the deja vu flying headscissor. Riho’s dragon suplex was countered by her larger foe, but the northern lights suplex got 2. Riho landed a slick crucific bomb for 2 before the basement double knee strike landed and got a win for the inaugural AEW Women’s World Champion!

Alex Marvez met with Ruby Riho and Cool Hand Ang before their first date, but Saraya and Harley interrupt and Ang eats a blackjack to the face courtesy of Zak Knight.

A video package airs hyping up Magnus with CMLL clips before the main event. Magnus’ theme has tons of epic trumpets and horns and wouldn’t be out of place in God of War. Menard asks if Magnus is wearing two masks as it’s plain as day, so Nigel asks him if Sydal is in fact wearing kneepads – Nigel is a riot on commentary.

Magnus defeated Matt Sydal and Advances to the Revolution All-Star Scramble

Sydal gained an early advantage with a wheelbarrow armdrag and a quick two off a sunset flip. Sydal sent him outside and dove onto him off the top flawlessly. Sydal landed the mariposa senton for two. Magnus recovered to get a butterfly backbreaker for two. Magnus kept the damage to the spine alive with an STF and a delayed vertical suplex during an ad break.

Magnus landed an Angel’s Wings for two. Sydal recovered landing a gamenguri in the corner and sent him down with a brainbuster for two. Magnus avoided a middle-rope springboard to gain an edge before they went back and forth with forearm shots and a Sydal kick gave him an advantage. He went up top only to eat a shot to the jaw, but recovered enough to send Magnus down and a meteora off the second rope got two.

Magnus sent him down with Wasteland and a legdrop before going up top and attempting a rana. Magnus took aim in the opposite corner and lands a vicious pair of shotgun knees to the face to win the match! This was a fine showcase for Magnus, who worked as an effective heel and goes onto the all-star scramble on Revolution.

AEW Rampage live results: Trios three-way

A trios three-way headlines this week’s AEW Rampage episode.

Private Party’s Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen team with Matt Sydal against Top Flight’s Darius Martin & Dante Martin & Action Andretti, and the trio of Penta El Zero Miedo, Komander & Bryan Keith.

Mariah May will be in action on the show in a women’s division contest against Anna Jay.

Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson of The Young Backs will have a tag team match against enhancement talent. The Young Bucks will challenge Sting & Darby Allin for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at the Revolution pay-per-view on March 3 in Greensboro, North Carolina in Sting’s retirement match.

Roderick Strong is set to take on Jake Hager on tonight’s episode. Strong is set to challenge Orange Cassidy for the AEW International Championship at Revolution.

Sammy Guevara will also speak on tonight’s show.

This week’s Rampage was taped Wednesday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Taped in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Tony Schiavone, Matt Menard and Excalibur were on commentary.

Penta El Zero Mideo, Komander & Bryan Keith defeated Private Party & Matt Sydal and Top Flight & Action Andretti

The match was a three-way with traditional tags, first pinfall wins. This meant the match broke down frequently.

The match went through a commercial break, during which Action Andretti was triple-teamed by Private Party & Sydal. Andretti hit a handspring back elbow and got the tag to Dante Martin. Martin got a near fall off a springboard cross body, which broken up by Keith. Komander had Sydal tied up in a surfboard on the ring apron and Dante Martin dove over them into a pile of guys on the floor. Sydal broke free and hit a meteora on the Komander on the apron, and Penta took out Sydal with a Canadian Destroyer.

Back in the ring, Private Party went for the Gin and Juice on Penta, who countered with another Destroyer. Komander took a bunch of guys out of the floor with a tornio, and Penta finished off Sydal with the Fear Factor to get the pinfall. Typical party match, and Bryan Keith got a win in advance of getting destoryed by Malakai Black tomorrow on Collision.

– Renee Paquette tried to interview Harley Cameron & Saraya about Ruby Soho and Angelo Parker, but Saraya would rather talk about her brother “Zodiac” Zak Knight, who is All Elite. And he could have been Ruby Soho’s! Saraya was all ready to fix up Zack and Ruby, but she went with Parker instead. Saraya announced things are going to get “really spicy” around here. This was a trainwreck, but in a good way.

Executive Vice Presidents Matthew & Nicholas Jackson, The Young Bucks v. Johnny Lyons & Cappuccino Jones (2:18)

I’m not doing a Taz gimmick with that second enhancement guys name, it was really Cappuccino Jones. Matthew & Nicholas have ditched the blood-covered suits in favor of black ones. The crowd chanted for Cappuccino, despite the match being a total squash. The “Tony Khan Driver” (uh, sorry Dave) finished off Jones.

After the match, Matthew & Nicholas brought Tony Schiavone into the ring to apologize for almost attacking him last week with a $25 Amazon gift card. But, they won’t be sorry for beating Darby Allin & Sting at Revolution.

– Tony Schiavone interviewed Sammy Guevara in the ring, who called out Powerhouse Hobbs. Don Callis and his ridiculous shoes came out instead. Callus tried to distract Guevara so Hobbs could run in from behind and attack. Guevara caught Hobbs with a superkick and smacked him around with a steel chair. Guevara went for the GTH, but Hobbs murdered him with a lariat and hit a couple of spinebusters. The crowd chanted “one more time!” and Hobbs gave Guevara the World’s Most Dangerous Slam. I kind of hope they put Guevara in the Meat Madness match.

– Skye Blue and Julia Hart cut a dark promo (literally dark, I could hardly see them) on Kris Statlander, Stokely Hathaway and Willow Nightingale.

Mariah May defeated Anna Jay

Anna Jay countered a fireman’s carry  into a Queen Slayer attempt, but May backed her into the corner. May hit a handstand hurricanrana in the corner. May went for the hip attack, but Jay got out of the way. Jay hit an inverted backbreaker for a near fall. Jay went for the QueenSlayer again, but May countered by biting Jay’s arm. May then hit the May Day (a sitout Death Valley Driver) for the pinfall. It feels like Jay is improving.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Ruby Soho & Angelo Parker. Soho either challenged Saraya to a double-date or a mixed tag… or something for next week.

Roderick Strong (w/ Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) defeated Jake Hanger (w/ Hornsby, Mascot of the Tulsa Drillers)

Hager used his power to dominate Strong early on. Stong got the advantage, and Hornsby lead the crowd in cheers for Hager. That drew the attention of Bennett and Taven. Orange Cassidy came out to make the save… AND RETURNED THE PURPLE HAT TO JAKE HAGER. (You may recall at Rampage — Winter is Coming that Danhausen and Cassidy kept the hat when Cassidy teamed with the Von Erichs).

Hager made the comeback because he loves the hat, and hit a Hager Bomb for the near fall. Hager hit a Doctor Bomb on Strong for another near fall. Hager got the ankle lock. Taven and Bennett tossed Cassidy into the ring, and in the confusion Strong caught Hager with a running knee and got the pinfall.

There are going to be 24 hours of wrestling on this weekend, and this was definitely one of them. But its nice to see AEW’s favorite couple together again — Jake Hager and his hat.

AEW Rampage live results: Jeff Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara no DQ match

Jeff Hardy takes on Sammy Guevara in a no DQ match on tonight’s AEW Rampage.

Hardy vs. Guevara is the headline bout on a four-match card on a Rampage with a special earlier start time this week due to TNT’s coverage of NBA All-Star weekend.

Hardy was injured in the bout taped Wednesday night in Cedar Park, Texas, suffering a broken nose.

The Von Erichs will also be in action on tonight’s show, as Ross & Marshall Von Erich team with Dustin Rhodes in a six-man tag team bout.

Queen Aminata will take on Anna Jay in a women’s division contest on tonight’s episode.

The Bang Bang Scissor Gang (Jay White, Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, Billy Gunn, Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) will square off with Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, John Silver, Evil Uno) & Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh in a 12-man tag. This will be Singh’s first match since last September.

Taped in Cedar Park, Texas. I can’t wait to see what matches they put on to take advantage of their earlier time slot and people tuning in before or after the NBA All-Star festivities!

Tony Schiavone, Excalibur and Matt Menard were on commentary.

Sammy Guevara defeated. Jeff Hardy (w/ Matt Hardy) in a no-disqualification match (12:32)

Jeff’s technicolor arm sleeves and Sammy’s brightly colored gear are testing my old TV.

Hardy slammed Guevara, then went to the floor for a ladder. Before he could get the ladder into the ring, Guevara dropkicked it into Hardy’s chest. It’s mentioned on commentary Jeff Hardy was Guevara’s hero when he was going up. Hardy floored Guevara with a clothesline off the apron and whipped him into the ring barricade. Well, they say never meet your heroes.

Guevara hit a superkick and a double foot stop on the ring apron, then drug Hardy into the ring for a near fall. Back to the floor for more brawling. Hardy whipped Guevara into some chairs and hit a sliding dropkick. Back in the ring again, Hardy just threw a chair at Jeff. Both guys started climbing up the ladder so they could exchange punches on the top of the ladder. Hardy took Guevara down with a Twist of Fate off the ladder, and that only got a two count.

During a split-screen break, Hardy pulled another ladder out from underneath the ring while his brother set up a table. Jeff setup Guevara on the table, then took off his shirt and started a slow climb up the ladder. Guevara pulled him down and took the match back to the ring.

Guevara gave Hardy a cutter while Hardy’s head was stuck in an open folding chair in one of the most contrived spots I’ve ever seen. Guevara set up Jeff Hardy on the table and came off the top of the ladder with a senton through the table. The crowd chanted “This is awesome!” I do not concur.

Back in the ring, Guevara went for a shooting star press. Hardy got his knees up, but that didn’t matter because Guevara’s knees smashed Hardy’s face. But Excalibur was screaming about how Hardy got his knees up, which made no sense because you could clearly see Guevara smashing Hardy’s face with his knees. Guevara hit the GTH for the pinfall. There was a lot of blood on the mat after the match.

This just felt like a disjointed mess with lot of spots that I’ve seen done before. There was no real flow to the match either.

After the match, Don Callis ran in and hit Guevara with a spinebuster and the World’s Most Dangerous Slam.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Prince Nana & Brian Cage. Cage is a real wrestler and Hook isn’t.

– Private Party said they the future AEW World Tag Team Champions, while bragging about being a Top 5 team in the rankings.

– Jon Moxley and Claudio Castignoli can read each other’s mind. “Claudio, what am I thinking?” “Your wife’s glutes.” They’re going after FTR.

– Renee Paquette’s interview with Ruby Soho was interrupted by Saraya and Harley Cameron. Ruby wants some space and leaves.

There are some really interesting choices being made on this show tonight.

Dustin Rhodes & Russ Von Erich & Marshall Von Erich defeated Hitt, Romero Cruz & Shimbashi (1:46)

Rhodes hit his finisher on Cruz for the pinfall while Russ and Marshal had their other two opponents locked in a claw hold.

– Toni Storm illustrated her submission techniques on Mariah May.

– A quick video package highlighting the Young Bucks angle with Sting from last week’s Dynamite was narrated by Darby Allin.

Queen Aminata defeated Anna Jay

Jay hung up Aminata in the ropes and pulled her down with a backstabber for a near fall. After the commercial break, Aminata hit a suplex and clothesline, then a running PK. Jay avoided a hip attack, but Aminada caught her in the corner with a sliding boot for a near fall. Jay hit a flatliner for a near fall. Jay caught Aminata with the sleeper, but Aminata turned that into a pinning combination. Aminata then hit a headbutt on Jay and got the pinfall.

This was Aminata’s first singles win in AEW.

Jay and Aminata hugged after the match.

– Rene Paquette interviewed Willow Nightingale, Stokely Hathaway and Kris Statlander about Willow’s win on Dynamite Wednesday. Willow was upset that Hathaway cheated on her behalf to get the win, but Kris took responsibility for Hathaway’s action. They shook Hathaway, and this team will continue.

– Angelo Parker and Ruby Soho make a date for a drink next Wednesday. It’s not like either of them work on Wednesday.

The Bang Bang Scissor Gang (Jay White, Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, Billy Gunn, Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) defeated Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, John Silver & Evil Uno) & Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh (10:46)

Most of the first five minutes of the match took place in picture-in-picture. The heels worked over Austin Gunn  during that time. Satnam Singh got the tag and dropped Austin with a headbutt. Singh beeled Austin across the ring – twice. Singh charged into the heel corner and bumped all the members of the Bang Bang Scissor Gang who aren’t eligible for Social Security to the floor. Austin got the tag to Billy, and the heels (but not Jarrett) bumped off his punches. Gunn hit the Famouser on Alex Reynolds for the near fall. Bowens took out Uno with a superkick, and Silver dropped Bowns with a german suplex. Caster dropped Silver with a backhand.

Singh set up the Acclaimed for a double chokeslam, but the Gunn brothers broke that up with a superman punch. Lethal hit the Lethal Injection on Caster, but Colton hit his finisher on Lethal. Jarrett hit the stroke on Colton, but Lethal hit the Bladerunner on Jarrett. Alex Reynolds dumped White to the floor, and finally, Billy Gunn and Austin combined to hit the 3:10 to Yuma on Reynolds to get the pinfall. Jay White felt like such an afterthought in all this.

After the match, Excalibur casually announced Bryan Danielson v. Jun Akiyama for next week’s Collision.

Final Thoughts:

This was a very skippable show.

AEW Rampage live results: Undisputed Kingdom vs. Best Friends

The Undisputed Kingdom square off with Best Friends in a trios match on tonight’s AEW Rampage.

Undisputed Kingdom’s Roderick Strong, Mike Bennett & Matt Taven will face the Best Friends trio of Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero in the featured contest on this week’s episode. Strong is set to challenge Cassidy for the International Championship at AEW Revolution next month.

The Young Bucks will return to the ring for the first time since November on tonight’s show as well, facing a pair of enhancement talents in tag team action. The Bucks are on the march towards a match with new Tag Team Champions Sting & Darby Allin at Revolution after they attacked the new champs at the conclusion of this week’s Dynamite.

CMLL’s Mistico will go one-on-one with Matt Sydal on the show as the CMLL invasion angle of sorts continues.

Kris Statlander & Willow Nightingale will team against Saraya & Ruby Soho of The Outcasts on tonight’s show as well.

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Matt Menard were on the call for tonight’s action from Phoenix.

Undisputed Kingdom (Roderick Strong, Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) (w/ Adam Cole and Wardlow) defeated Best Friends (Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero)

This was a good opener with a somewhat abrupt finish.

If you’ve been following along, this is the latest chapter in the build to Cassidy defending his International title against Strong at next month’s Revolution. There’s also been some tension between Beretta and Cassidy as of late, so that bears watching tonight.

Strong wanted no part of Cassidy when given the opportunity early as they are keeping them apart.

This was as good as you might expect going in, featuring a fun offensive sequence from all six men before the first ad break. The end was Strong hitting a running knee and his End of Heartache on Romero as he was hitting his forever clotheslines in the corner on Taven and Bennett, giving Taven the pin. It was an out of nowhere end that didn’t involve Cassidy at all.

After the match, Strong hit another End of Heartache on Romero onto two chairs before the heels scampered away.

Cassidy will defend the aforementioned title against Tomohiro Ishii on Saturday’s Collision.

The Young Bucks defeated Mondo Rox & Robbie Lit

I am among those surprised by AEW putting the Bucks’ first match since November’s Full Gear on Rampage — a match not even mentioned on Dynamite for some reason.

The Jackson brothers, with new generic music, were wearing (and wrestled in) their blood-soaked white three-piece suits worn at Dynamite when they obliterated Sting and Darby Allin. Nicholas even wrestled with his Kangol hat on.

This was a squash that featured the Bucks heeling it up, hitting a low blow on one of their opponents behind referee Rick Knox’s back. They won with the EVP trigger and then took to the mic to deliver a “show us some respect” and “call us by our God-given names” promo.

They congratulated Sting and Allin for winning the AEW Tag Team titles and said it was their objective to get their titles back. They said they won’t politick to get the shot and will compete in “competitive matches” like they did tonight. They announced they will be in action this Wednesday as well which will be against Top Flight.

I’m sure there are some who love this Bucks character. I’m not among them, but am on record to saying they need a great 2024 after a weird 2023. Perhaps they think this is the road there.

Mistico (w/ Star Jr. & Esfinge) defeated Matt Sydal

Mistico came out to perhaps some of the worst entrance music I have heard in a long time. While he was flanked by two CMLL mates, Sydal was sadly alone despite backing up the Blackpool Combat Club over the past week. Christopher Daniels was apparently busy too.

These two have some history as they battled once before in WWE as part of a no count out bout on a June 2011 edition of Raw when they were wrestling as Sin Cara and Evan Bourne, respectively.

Despite being a heel in the ongoing feud between CMLL and the Blackpool Combat Club, Mistico was playing up to the fans early on and throughout the bout as well. In the end, he hit a sweet-looking Spanish fly off the top rope to end a perfectly fine TV match. This CMLL run has been really entertaining.

– Renee Paquette caught up with Brian Cage and Prince Nana who took issue with FTW Champion Hook hitting him with a chair recently. Cage then challenged “any two sloppy joes” in the back to face him in a handicap match on Collision.

Willow Nightingale & Kris Statlander (w/ Stokely Hathaway) defeated Saraya & Ruby Soho (w/ Harley Cameron)

Hathaway sat in on commentary, replacing Menard who disappeared to Schiavone’s surprise.

Soho was reading a note in her jacket pocket that had her looking very suspect on her way down to the ring, so there’s that. I feel like I’ve seen this match 10 times already, but this is actually the first. Must be all the backstage segments and run-ins?

I haven’t taken too much to this feud to be that invested. I know there’s too many titles in AEW (thanks ROH!), but a Women’s Tag Team Championship could be justified with matches like this both servicing the rivalry and meaning something in the…standings. (Yeah, I don’t like them either.)

The big story here was Soho leaving The Outcasts, leaping off the ring apron when Saraya reached for a tag which was followed by Soho knocking Cameron out on her way out. Apparently that note Soho read was important…and more important than just watching past AEW shows to see what Saraya was up to.

Nightingale then took out Saraya with her Babe With The Power Bomb finish to get the win. Hathaway shook Statlander and then Nightingale’s hand, even getting a big hug. Then, Skye Blue appeared (sporting a big new tattoo on her right arm, I believe) and glared at the two until TBS Champion July Hart appeared next to her after a blackout. Then, they both glared until they eventually left, setting up a future match between them.

It appears the romance between Soho and Angelo Parker has a chance after all. That’s fitting given Valentine’s Day is next week which means we’re getting a follow up next week.

Note for next week: Rampage starts at 7 PM Eastern.

AEW Rampage live results: Top Flight vs. Private Party

Top Flight vs. Private Party is set for tonight’s AEW Rampage.

In a rematch from the January 17 Dynamite, Top Flight’s Darius Martin & Dante Martin take on Private Party’s Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen on tonight’s episode. Private Party were victorious in the first match of this series.

Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks & Big Bill will be in action on tonight’s episode against Dark Order’s Alex Reynolds & John Silver in a non-title affair. Darby Allin will be on commentary for the bout. Starks & Bill defend against Sting & Allin on next week’s Dynamite.

Willow Nightingale will face Queen Aminata on tonight’s Rampage in a women’s division contest.

CMLL’s Mistico, Volador Jr., Hechicero, & Mascara Dorada will take on Christopher Daniels, Matt Sydal, Matt Menard, & Angelo Parker in an eight-man tag team bout.

A promo from AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta of the Best Friends faction has also been advertised for tonight’s episode.

Taped in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Excalibur and Tony Schiavone were on commentary.

Top Flight (w/ Action Andretti) defeated Private Party (9:51)

This is a rematch from a few weeks ago on Dynamite where Private Party maybe cheated to win. In New Orleans, the crowd was behind Private Party, chanting for shots. Or maybe they were all in unison shouting a drink order.

Top Flight tried a flapjack on Quen, but he pushed off of them and hit them both with a dropkick. Zay got the tag and hit a slingshot stunner on Darius while wearing a crown. Zay put Darius in a camel clutch, and Quen leapfrogged over his partner and hit a double stomp on Darius. Quen went for a cradle on Darius while holding the ropes, but Action Andretti broke up the pin attempt. This lead to Dante almost getting a nearfall with a rollup of his own.

After a split-screen break, Dante hit a gamengiri and top rope crossbody for a near fall. Zay hit forearms on both Darius and Dante, while the crowd encouraged him with “Shots!” chants. Dante ducked an enzigiri from Zay then hit a superkick, but Private Party caught Dante with the Silly String. Quen landed a shooting star press on Dante for a near fall.

Darius hit Zay with a Spanish Fly, then took him out with a tope suicidia on the floor. Quen charged into a gamengiri from Darius, then Dante hit Quen with his half-nelson slam for the pinfall.

I’d like to propose a best of a thousand and one match series between these two teams, who are going to keep making each other better.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Sammy Guevara, who called out Will Hobbs for costing him the World Tag Team titles a few weeks ago at Battle of the Belts.

– Jay Lethal can’t get the Sonjay Dutt crew to workout with him. Jarrett doesn’t need to workout because he’s a two-time hall of famer? Jarrett screwed at Lethal for being too nice. This segment was pointless.

Ricky Starks & Big Bill defeated Alex Reynolds & John Silver (w/ Evil Uno) in an Eliminator Match. (5:45)

I’d like someone to explain why the #2 contenders (who don’t even get an entrance) are in an eliminator match. Darby Allin was at ringside for commentary.

The Dark Order jumped Starks before the bell. Starks was a total babyface in New Orleans. Silver powerbombed Starks onto Reynolds knees for a near fall. Silver then hit a german suplex for a near fall (and Darby on commentary called back to how Starks injured his neck in the pandemic era against Adam Page).

Big Bill got the hot tag and dumped Silver to the floor. Uno jumped up on the apron and Bill booted him to the mat. Bill got knocked to the floor, where Reynolds hit him with a running boot. Silver and Reynolds sent Bill into the ringpost.

Back in the ring, Bill caught Reynolds with a spinning Boss Man Slam. Starks and Silver got the tags, and Starks dominated Silver. Starks did his version of the old school ropewalk on Reynolds. Uno tripped up Starks, and Starks speared him on the floor. Back in the ring, Starks hit the roshambeaux on Silver and got the pinfall.

The #2 ranked tag team looked like jobbers here. If I didn’t know better, I’d say they’re trying to kill the ranking gimmick out of the gate.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Don Callis and Powerhouse Hobbs. Callis made it clear that its he and Hobbs that are after Sammy Guevara.

Willow Nightingale (w/ Stokley Hathaway & Kris Statlander) defeated Queen Aminata

The commentators talked up Aminata, who needs to start winning matches. Willow hit Aminata with a pair of short-arm clotheslines, then came off the middle ropes with a shotgun dropkick. Aminata tripped up Nightingale on the apron and took control of the match heading into the split-screen break.

After the break, Nightingale missed a cannonball in the corner. Aminata hit a kick in the corner for a near fall. Aminata dropped Nightingale with a german suplex, but missed the hip attack in the corner. Nightingale hit the cannonball in the corner, then a death valley driver for a near fall. Nightingale finished off Aminata with the Doctor Bomb for the pinfall. After the match, Hathaway reluctantly celebrated with Statlander and Hathaway.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Orange Cassidy and the Best Friends. Orange asked for this time because he knew Roderick Strong and his crew would interrupt the interview. Which they did. Cassidy and his friends want to fight Strong and his friends. Adam Cole wanted to suggest a four-on-four, but – from his wheel chair– said that can’t happen because Chuck Taylor is injured. So instead Cassidy, Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero will take on Strong, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett, next week on Rampage. Orange Cassidy: “Why is he in a wheelchair?”

– Renee Paquette interviewed Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway. They were soon interrupted by Saraya, Harley Cameron and Ruby Soho all screaming at each other. Everyone started bickering, Cameron bit Hathaway, and a tag match was made for next week.

Mistico, Volador Jr., Hechicero, & Mascara Dorada defeated Christopher Daniels, Matt Sydal, Matt Menard, & Angelo Parker (11:32)

Volador took Menard down with a step up huricanrana and a dropkick. Misticio and Daniels got the tags, and Misticio hit a handspring elbow and a springboard cross body. Hechicero got the tag and hit a springboard dropkick. Volador hit a lung blower, and Dorada hit a standing shooting star press for a near fall.

Daniels took Dorado down with a back heel trip, and got the tag. Menard, Parker and Sydal triple teamed Dorada. Sydal hit a mariposa for a near fall. Sydal tied up Dorado in a bow and arrow.

The babyfaces worked over Dorado through the split-screen break. Once back to full screen, Dorado made his comeback and got the tag to Hechicero. Hechicero choked out Daniels with a sleeper in the ropes, then came off the top rope with a clothesline. Sydal caught Hechicero with an enziguri. Daniels caught Hechicero with a flatliner into a submission, but it was broken up.

Menard and Parker had a messy exchange with Mistico and Volador. Mistico, Volador and Dorado all hit dives on the floor. Back in the ring, Hechicero backdropped Daniels to counter the Angels Wings. Hechicero hit Daniels with a running knee in the corner, then tied him up in a cradle to get the pinfall. Nice showcase for Hechicero, who takes on Bryan Danielson tomorrow night on Collision.

At the end of the show, Excalibur ran down a bunch of matches for Collision and next week’s Dynamite. Two new matches and a change were announced:

  • Queen Aminada will face Serena Deeb on Collision.
  • Ricky Starks & Big Bill v. Sting & Darby Allin for Dynamite is now a Torando Tag Team match.
  • AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm will face Red Velvet on Dynamite in an eliminator match.

AEW Rampage live results: Freshly Squeezed four-way

Tonight’s AEW Rampage features a “Freshly Squeezed” four-way for a shot at the International Championship.

Kip Sabian faces Komander, The Butcher, and El Hijo del Vikingo in the match to decide who will face Orange Cassidy in an International title match on Saturday’s AEW Collision episode. Vikingo’s AAA Mega Championship will not be on the line in the contest. Should Cassidy retain the title on Saturday, he has agreed to another title match against Roderick Strong for the Revolution pay-per-view on Sunday, March 3.

Jon Moxley of Blackpool Combat Club will be in action on Rampage against Lee Moriarty. Moxley defeated Shane Taylor on last week’s Collision, with Moriarty in Taylor’s corner for that bout.

Konosuke Takeshita of The Don Callis Family will go one-on-one with Christopher Daniels on the show.

In a women’s division battle, Anna Jay will take on Ruby Soho.

This week’s Rampage was taped Wednesday night in Savannah, Georgia at the Enmarket Arena. Spoilers from the show are available here.

Taped in Savannah, Georgia.

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Matt Menard were on commentary.

Jon Moxley defeated Lee Moriarty (w/ Shane Taylor) (12:58)

In a nice gesture, Tony Schivone made mention of the passing of Ice Train on commentary. Moriarty worked a side headlock on the mat, but Moxley broke free and knocked Moriarty to the floor with a back elbow. On the floor, Moxley and Shane Taylor got in each other’s faces. Back in the ring, Moriarty went for the Border City Stretch, but Moxley easily escaped.

Moxley and Moriarty exchanged forearms. Moxley took six straight shots from Moriarty and stayed on his feet, then floored Moriarty with a single forearm. Moriarty caught Moxley with a kick to the arm and a shotgun dropkick off the middle rope. Moriarty tossed Moxley to the floor.

After a split-screen break, Moxley went for a piledriver on the ring apron, but Moriarty countered with a hammerlock and a back-heel trip. Back in the ring, Moriarty hit a belly-to-belly suplex then went into a juji gatame. Moriarty took Moxley down with a facelock suplex, then got a near fall with a german suplex. Moxley came back with the king kong lariat. Moxley went to the bulldog choke, but Moriarty countered with the Border City Stretch. Moxley broke free, but Moriarty snapped Moxley’s fingers. Moriarty hit an inverted face-first suplex for another near fall.

Moriarty tried a springboard attack, but jumped into a right hand from Moxley. Moxley kicked Moriarty’s head in and hit a stuff piledriver for a near fall. Moxley hit the hammer and tong elbows, then hit a sliding knee strike for another near fall. Moxley locked in a sleeper, and Moriarty was out. (The referee did not check Moriarty’s arm three times like they’ve been doing when Samoa Joe chokes out opponents.)

After the match, Taylor hit Moxley with a cheap shot and both Moriarty and Taylor laid in some boots on Moxley after the match.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Anny Jay and Angelo Parker. Parker asked Jay if she had anything to do with Harley Cameron kissing Parker a few weeks ago. Jay slapped Parker, told Parker she was done with him and walked off.

– The stars of CMLL are coming to AEW! More to come tomorrow on Collision. This felt like an announcement of an announcement.

Konosuke Takeshita (w/ Don Callis, Powerhouse Hobbs and Kyle Fletcher) defeated Christopher Daniels (3:04)

This was basically a squash, although Daniels got in a little offense.  When Daniels went for the Angel’s Wings, Takeshita countered that into a tombstone piledriver, then hit a running knee strike for the pinfall. Takeshita looked like a killer.

After the match, Callis challenged Chris Jericho on Takeshita’s behalf in two weeks at Dynamite in Phoenix. That’s a money match that will sell some tickets! Kyle Fletcher would also like a shot at Chris Jericho, and Callis thought that would be a great idea for next week in New Orleans.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Top Flight (w/ Action Andretti) and Private Party about their impending rematch in New Orleans. When Private Party wins, they’re going to take Renee to Bourbon Street. The shots are on Private Party!

Anna Jay defeated Ruby Soho (w/ Saraya and Harley Cameron) (5:49 aired)

Big pop for the Brunswick, Georgia native Anna Jay. Soho attacked Hay before the bell and brawled with her on the floor. On commentary, Matt Menard points out that Ruby Soho would know what’s going on if she just watched a tape of the show.

Back in the ring, Cameron and Saraya tripped up Jay to help Soho get the advantage.

After the break, Jay went for the Queen Slayer sleeper, but Cameron pulled her out of the ring. Cameron and Saraya got caught trying to attack Jay by the ref, who sent them to the back. Back in the ring, Soho hit the Destination Unknown, but Jay kicked out. Jay hit a blockbuster off the middle ropes, then locked in the sleeper and got the tap out.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Eddie Kingston about Bryan Danielson’s lack of respect. Kingston doesn’t care that Danielson doesn’t respect him, and offered a non-title match to Willie Mack for Collision.

Komander defeated Kip Sabian in a “Freshly Squeezed Four Way” which also included El Hilo del Vikingo (w/ Alex Abrahantes) and The Butcher (w/ the Blade) to become the #1 Contender’s match for the International Title (13:00).

Vikingo and Komander took out Sabian and Butcher with dives on the floor. They wrestled to a stalemate and shook hands. Butcher then ran in and took them both out with a double-clothesline. Butcher tied up Komader with a Texas Cloverleaf, but Vikingo broke that up. Sabian almost ate canvas slipping on a springboard, but still managed to get a piece of Vikingo.

After the split-screen break, Sabian and Butcher double-teamed Komander. Butcher pulled Sabian off Komader when he tried to make a cover. Butcher hit Sabian with a backbreaker and got a near fall. Vikingo dove in to make the save, then hit Butcher with a springboard dropkick. Sabian crotched Vikingo on the ringpost. Komader hit Sabian with a Spanish Fly for a near fall. Sabian tripped up Butcher while he had Vikingo on his shoulders, who was trying to superplex Komander. On the floor, Komader hit Sabian with a Canadian Destroyer. Vikingo hit both guys with a moonsault off the top to the floor.

Back in the ring, Butcher countered a rana from Komander with a massive Ligerbomb for a near fall. Vikingo hit a meteora in the corner on Butcher. Komader caught Vikingo with a Poisoned Rana. Sabian caught Komander with a german suplex (and it looked like Komander took the bump entirely on his head) for a near fall. Sabian went for a suplex, but Komander countered with a rana into a cradle and got the pinfall. This match just felt like a bunch of spots.

After the match, Orange Cassidy came out to show off his International Title.

For Collision tomorrow night:

  • Orange Cassidy v. Komander for the International Title
  • Claudio Castignoli & Jon Moxley v. Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty
  • Bryan Danielson v. Yuji Nagata
  • Eddie Kingston v. Willie Mack (non-title)
  • Mariah May v. Lady Frost
  • Serena Deeb in action (two women’s matches? That can’t be right.)
  • FTR & Daniel Garcia v. The House of Black in an “Escape the Cage” match.

This show felt like the end of a long taping.

AEW Rampage live results: Darby Allin vs. Jeff Hardy

Darby Allin vs. Jeff Hardy headlines this week’s AEW Rampage.

Allin & Hardy will meet for just the second time in their careers in a singles match and for the first time since a May 2022 Dynamite show.

Chris Jericho & Matt Sydal will also square off on the show for the first time in over 13 years, with their last match taking place at a WWE house show in September 2010 when Sydal wrestled as Evan Bourne. Sydal’s Bourne character was referenced in the backstage promo that set up this bout on Wednesday’s Dynamite.

Kris Statlander is set for action on the show against Queen Aminata. Stokely Hathaway will be ringside for this women’s division contest.

Penta El Zero Miedo faces Anthony Henry in the other match on tonight’s episode.

This week’s Rampage was taped Wednesday night in North Charleston, South Carolina. Spoilers from the show are available here.

Taped in North Charlestown, South Carolina.

Excalibur, Ian Riccaboni, and Don Callis were on commentary (to start).

Chris Jericho defeated Matt Sydal (10:38)

I wasn’t all that enthused to watch this match 13 years ago in WWE.

The crowd was solidly behind Jericho at the start. Sydal caught Jericho with a step-up rana and knocked him to the floor with a clothesline. Sydal followed Jericho to the floor with a meteora. Back in the ring, Sydla hit a meteora off the top for a near fall. Jericho came back with a back suplex. Sydal went for a cazadora, but Jericho countered that and put him in the Walls of Jericho. Sydal spent a good amount of time in the hold before getting to the ropes. Jericho sent Sydal to the floor with a springboard dropkick.

After the split-screen break, Jericho and Sydal exchanged chops mid-ring. Sydal caught Jericho with a series of kicks. Jericho came off the top but dove into a kick from Sydal. Sydal then hit a mariposa for a near fall. Both men battled up the top, and Sydal caught Jericho with a sunset flip/powerbomb for a near fall. Sydal jumped off the middle rope into a Codebreaker for a near fall.

Sydal got his knees up with Jericho went for a Lionsault, and Sydal hit an Air Raid Crash for a near fall. Sydal chopped away at Jericho in the corner, but Jericho got to the top and hit an avalanche hurricanrana. Jericho then hit the Judas Effect to the victory. Don Callis immediately ran from the commentary table at the end of the match.

After the match (which was very good), Konoshue Takeshita attacked Jericho at the entrance ramp.

– The rules will be relaxed for Jeff Hardy’s match with Darby Allin later in the show.

– Matt Menard replaced Don Callis on commentary.

El Penta Zero Miedo (w/ Alex Abrahantes) defeated Anthony Henry (3:48)

Penta hit a superkick and a spinning death valley driver for two. Henry countered a Made in Japan attempt with a cazadora and double stomped Penta. Both men exchanged leg kicks, and Henry caught Penta with a pop-up death valley driver for two. Henry missed a doubles stomp off the top, and Penta suplexed Henry into the buckles, then delivered the Fear Factor to get the pinfall.

– Ruby Soho tried to strangle Harley Cameron for kissing Jeff Parker, but (at Saraya’s urging), she pinned the whole thing on Anna Jay. Soho and Cameron go off to find Jay, while Rene Paquette (who was there to interview… someone) looked on disapprovingly. Ruby could figure  out who is responsible just by watching Rampage.

Kris Statlander (w/ Stokley Hathaway) defeated Queen Aminata (7:43 aired)

Aminada caught Statlander with a hip attack and a sliding boot in the corner for a near fall. Aminata locked in a crossface. Statlander rolled through and into the Friday Night Fever, but Aminata countered with a roll up for two. Statlander hit a discus lariat for two. Statlander missed a charging knee in the corner, and Aminata hit a sliding knee . Aminata went for an Air Raid Crash, but Statlander countered into a spinning Falcon Arrow and got the pinfall. Both women looked really good hear. Statlander always looks good, but Aminata was also impressive.

– Jay Lethal wants to get back to in-ring action. This leads to an argument between Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh about whether they should kick Jeff Jarrett or Karen Jarrett out of the group. Lethal walked off, thinking it’s time to go after singles gold.

– Rene Paquette asked Kris Statlander & Stokley Hathaway about the nature of the relationship. Willow Nightingale showed up, just getting to the arena since her travel accommodations were canceled. Willow and Stokley argued about who cared about Statlander more, and Kris stormed off.

Darby Allin defeated Jeff Hardy (13:45)

Jeff slapped Allin, who responded with a shotgun dropkick. Allin hit Hardy with a senton on the floor, then tossed him in the ring for a near fall. Back on the floor, Hardy threw Allin into the commentary table, and threw the hood of the table on top of him. Hardy sent Allin into the ring barricade, then came off the apron with a flying clothesline. Hardy missed a dive on Allin and crashed into the barricade. Allin set Hardy on a chair and went for his high speed plancha, but Hardy got out of the way and Allin crashed into the chair.

After a split-screen break, Hardy worked over Allin’s neck with a series of rolling neck snaps. Hardy hit a face-first suplex for a near fall. Allin caught Hardy with an avalanche code red for a near fall. Allin set up for the Coffin Drop, but Hardy rolled onto the apron. Hardy hit Allin with a hangman’s neckbreaker while Allin was hung up in the top turnbuckle.

Hardy pulled a table from under the ring. Hardy set Allin up on the table and went for a Swanton off the top, but Allin rolled out of the way and Hardy crashed through table. Allin threw Hardy back into the ring and went for the Coffin Drop, but Hardy got his knees up and both men were down on the mat in a lot of pain.

Hardy went for a Twist of Fate, but Allin rolled through and flipped Hardy into a jacknife cover and held Hardy down for the three count. After the match, Allin went in for a fist bump of respect, but Hardy faked him out and walked away.

If you like car crash matches, this was a good one.

Jeff Hardy seemed to move a lot better in this match than in the tags I’ve seen him the last few weeks.
