AEW Rampage live results: The Conglomeration vs. Dark Order

A trios match between The Conglomeration and Dark Order headlines tonight’s AEW Rampage.

Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe & Kyle O’Reilly will battle Alex Reynolds, John Silver & Evil Uno. The match is a tune-up for Cassidy who faces Chris Jericho on this Wednesday’s Dynamite.

Konosuke Takeshita of The Don Callis Family will face Action Andretti one-on-one. Takeshita will team with AEW International Champion Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher against AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada and AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks this Wednesday, and has made his next target clear: Okada.

Saraya & Harley Cameron will take on former NWA Women’s Tag Team Champions The Hex (Allysin Kay & Marti Belle) in tag team action.

Two other matches round out the card as Roderick Strong battles Beef and Kamille takes on Robyn Renegade.

Tonight’s Rampage was taped Wednesday night, September 11 in Lexington, Kentucky at Rupp Arena. Spoilers from the show are available here.

Taped in Lexington, Kentucky.

Tony Schiavone, Excalibur and Matt Menard were on commentary.

Today is Friday the 13th. Are they bringing Abadon out of the mothballs for this one?

The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe & Kyle O’Reilly) defeated The Dark Order (Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds & John Silver) (10:07)

Okay, I guess The Dark Order on Friday the 13th works.

The Conglomeration came out in new matching tees which I’m sure are available on the ShowAEW website. Orange Cassidy was triple-teamed by the Dark Order, but got a near fall on Silver for two. Lots of comedy in the opening minutes, with Silver missing chops on Cassidy and O’Reilly and hitting his teammates instead. Briscoe and Uno had an awkward exchange, then Briscoe floored Reynolds with a clothesline going into a split screen break.

O’Reilly got the hot tag after the split-screen break and destroyed Reynolds with kicks. Cassidy joined in and helped ouble team Reynolds. Silver prevented an Orange Punch. Uno hit O’Reily with a boot and a DDT. Silver and Reynolds hit their combo series for a near fall on Cassidy. Cassidy escaped a pendulum bomb attempt from the Dark Order, and took down Uno and SIlver with a hurricanrana.

Brisco hit a plancha on Silver, then used a chair to hit a springboard plancha on Reynolds and Uno on the other side of the ring. Back in the ring, Cassidy Reynolds with an Orange Punch, and Briscoe hit the Jay Driller for the pinfall. Inoffensive but uninspired.

– In the back, Lexi Nair conducted an interview with The Undisputed Era and ROH Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara. Matt Taven challenged the champs to a fight without honor, but Dustin upped the ante and made it a Bunkhouse Match for next Saturday on Collision.

Kamille defeated Robyn Renegade (3:16)

This was a total squash. Kamille dumped Renegade with a fisherman’s suplex out of a bearhug. Renegade got a one count after a top rope bodyblock. Kamille came back with a vertical powerslam, then hit a dominator (which she has renamed “The Truth”)  for the pinfall.

– Christopher Daniels (in a snazzy tie) accepted Jack Perry’s open challenge for the TNT title at tomorrow night’s Collision.

Roderick Strong defeated Beef (6:53)

Beef is a big, sweaty guy, who is the second cousin (by marriage) of Anthony Henry. The crowd chanted “Beef!” whenever Beef hit a forearm. Beef hit Strong with a dropkick heading into the commercial break.

After a long commercial break, we return to Beef pummeling Strong and the crowd firmly behind Beef. Beef hit a bulldog for two. Beef went to the top, but Strong caught him with a kick and perplexed him off the top for a near fall. Huge pop for Beef kicking out. Beef caught Strong with an avalanche, then went to the floor to save Henry from a beating from Taven and Bennett. Beef got back in the ring and ran right into a knee from Strong, and Strong got the pinfall.

– The Righteous, Vincent and Dutch, cut a promo. They’re looking for the House of Black.

Saraya & Harley Cameron defeated Marti Belle & Allysin Kay (3:36)

Saraya and Cameron worked over the less-experienced Belle. The fight went to the floor, where Saraya whipped Belle into the ring barricades. Belle finally got the tag to Kay, who mounted a brief comeback. Cameron caught Kay with the Soul Food and a flying knee, but Saraya had gotten the blind tag so Cameron couldn’t get the pinfall. Saraya then hit the Nightcap on Kay for the pinfall.

After the match, Jamie Hayer ran in (fresh from the 70s, based on her outfit) and floored Cameron with a forearm. Saraya ran out through the crowd.

Konosuke Takeshita (w/ Don Callis)  defeated Action Andretti (w/ Leila Gray and Lio Rush) (11:52)

Top Flight and Lio Rush came out with Andretti, and it looks like they’ve dumped that goofy airline pilot’s gear.

Andretti started out strong against Takeshita, but the fight went to the floor and Takeshita whipped him into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Takeshita hit a top rope superplex for a near fall.

Takeshita dominated through the split-screen break. Andretti hit a handspring back elbow for a near fall. Andretti hit a rolling senton on Takeshita, who was lying on the floor. Andretti hit a tope con hilo, then tossed Takeshita in the ring for a springboard 450 that missed. Takeshita hit a German suplex and a lariat for a near fall.

Andretti countered a powerbomb with a rana for a near fall. Takeshita and Andretti stayed one step ahead of each other in a neat exchange that finally ended with Andretti missing a standing shooting star press. Andretti hit a shotgun dropkick out of the corner that Takeshita completely no sold. Takeshita hit a blue thunder bomb for a near fall. (Really, that should have been the finish –or lead directly to the finish– after the convincing no-sell from Takeshita). Andretti came back with a top rope rana. Andretti did a springboard right into a forearm from Takeshita. Running knee and a spinning falcon arrow finished off Andretti and Takeshita got the pinfall. (The spinning falcon arrow may be called the “Raging Fire,” that’s what Excalibur said when Takeshita hit the move, but he might have just been metaphorical)

Announced for Dynamite Wednesday: The Young Bucks & Kazuchika Okada v. Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita & Will Ospreay.

AEW Rampage live results: Konosuke Takeshita returns

A four-way match featuring the returning Konosuke Takeshita headlines this week’s AEW Rampage.

After a month away competing in NJPW’s G1 tournament, Takeshita returns in a four-way against The Beast Mortos, Komander, and Lio Rush. Takeshita finished second in B Block in the G1, ultimately losing in the quarterfinals round of the tournament’s playoffs.

In a three-way tag team contest, Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal face Undisputed Kingdom’s Matt Taven & Mike Bennett, and Private Party’s Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen.

Two stars in the women’s division will have featured bouts against enhancement talent on the show with Nyla Rose in action against Aminah Belmont, plus Mina Shirakawa facing Missa Kate.

After returning on this past weekend’s All In and attacking FTR, James Drake & Zack Gibson of Grizzled Young Veterans will square off with Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum of The Outrunners.

Tonight’s Rampage was taped Wednesday night in Champaign, Illinois. Spoilers from the show are available here.

**********

Taped in Champaign, Illinois.

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone & Matt Menard were on commentary.

Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal (w/ Karen Jarrett) won a three way over the Undisputed Kingdom & Private Party (9:51)

Taven hit a dropkick then reminded us that he is, in fact, Matt Taven. Taven got caught in the Private Party corner and it was not much of a party for Taven. They worked over his arm and hit him with a flapjack. Bennett ran in and Private Party delivered a dropkick/hangman’s neckbreaker combination, and Quen floored both members of the Undisputed Era with a crossbody. But back in the ring, Taven clotheslined Zay to take control.

Jay Lethal got the tag and teased getting the figure four on all four of his opponents. Bennett popped up Lethal into a forearm from Bennett to take control going into the commercial break.

Lethal got the tag to Jarrett, who got a pop. Jarrett cleaned Bennet’s clock in the corner with punuches and gave Zay a high back body drop. Jarrett set up Taven for a neckbreaker from his partner.

Private Party got the silly string on Bennett, and Quen followed up with the 450 for a near fall. Bennet hit a rolling forearm and a Death Valley Driver on Bennett. Lethal caught Zay with the Lethal Injection. Jarrett went for the The Stroke on Taven, but Taven blocked it. Jarrett and Lethal got a Bennett and Lethal in stereo figure fours, and both Taven and Bennett eventually tapped out.

Mina Shirakawa defeated Missa Kate (3:03)

Shirakawa has the RevPro Women’s Championship belt with her, as well as a “Queen of Southside” belt.

Shirakawa hit a frog splash for a near fall. Kate countered a reverse suplex with a superkick for a near fall. Shirawaka hit a rolling elbow and a backfist. Shirawaka hit a sit out reverse suplex and got the pinfall.

– Stokely Hathaway & Kriss Statlander talk some trash about Willow Nightingale, and Statlander knocked out a stagehand with a steel chain.

Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) defeated The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum) (w/ Erica Leigh) (8:45)

Lots of impressive trash talk from Gibson. Gibson fell victim to a double elbow for a near fall. Drake tripped up Turbo Floyd and Gibson hit him with a sliding kick.

After a long commercial, The Grizzled Young Veterans continued to work over Magnum. Turbo finally got the hot tag and slammed both Veterans. Gibson set up Floyd for a boot from Drake. Turbo came back and clotheslined both men. Magnum went to the top, but Drake shoved him down. Gibson and Drake hit Magnum with a Doomsday Device (which really should have been the finish… I mean Drake took Magnum’s head off with that lariat), then finished him off with a High Lo. This was twice as long as it needed to be.

Nyla Rose defeated Aminah Belmont (1:31)

Rose won this quickly with a spinning Beast Bomb.

Konosuke Takeshita (w/ Don Callis) won a four-way by pinning Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes) that also included The Beast Mortos & Lio Rush (13:53)

Hype videos for each man in the match were shown throughout the show,  making this match feel a bit more special than your average Rampage main event. Also, good to see Abrahantes isn’t out of a job with the Lucha Bros likely leaving AEW.

Takeshita and Mortos overpowered their much smaller opponents early on. Takeshita and Mortos caught their opponents when they went for dives on the floor, and did the old Aussie Open spot where they rammed them into each other. Mortos and Takeshita got into a brawl on the floor, and then Rush and Komander caught them with a pair of tope con hilos.

Back in the ring, Rush and Komander had a speedy exchange. Rush looked fantastic, but just as he got the edge on Komander, Takeshita and Mortos ran in and mauled him. Takeshita put Rush down with a big boot. Komader pushed off Takeshita and hit him with a dropkick. Rush hit a rope walk tornio on Takeshita and Rush. Mortos then hit his own through the ropes tornio on Komander.

Takeshita floored Mortos with a forearm. Takeshita blocked a rana from Rush and went for a powerbomb, but Rush escaped. Takeshita tossed Rush into the ropes, but he rebounded off the bottom rope and into a stunner on Takeshita. Mortos caught Komader with a lung blower, and Mortos and Takeshita clotheslined each other.

Mortos went to the top, but Komander caught him with a kick and followed him up. Komander set up a Spanish Fly, but Takeshita got up there and suplexed Komander, who gave Mortos the Spanish Fly. Insane spot. Takeshita went for the cover on both Komander and Mortos, but Rush broke it up with a splash off the top.

Komader went for a poisoned rana, but Takeshita blocked it. Komander turned it into a victory roll for a near fall, avoiding a dive from Mortos at the same time. Takeshita went for an outside in superplex, but Komader escaped.  Komander hit a springboard poisoned rana on Mortos for a near fall. Komander missed a  shooting star press on Mortos when he dropped to the floor. Rush hit a tope on Mortos. He went for a frog splash on Komander, but missed and Mortos broke Rush in half with a spear. Mortos powerbombed Komander on his knee, and Takeshita hit Mortos with a knee. Takeshita hit Komander with a spinning Blue Thunder Bomb, then a Falcon Arrow to get the pinfall.

This was the best Rampage main event in forever and a good return win for Takeshita.

On Collision tomorrow (which feels like it’s missing a main event):

  • Tomohiro Ishii v. Kyle Fletcher
  • Queen Aminada v. Hikaru Shida v. Thunder Rosa v. Serena Deeb
  • FTR v. The Undisputed Kingdom
  • Lee Moriarty, Johnny TV & Mortos v. Hologram, Kyle O’Reilly & Orange Cassidy

Rampage has felt a little more interesting the last few weeks. I hope this keeps up.

Taped in Arlington, Texas.

Happy All In: London weekend!

Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on commentary.

Kyle Kyle O’Reilly, Mark Briscoe & Tomohiro Ishii defeated  Brian Cage, The Beast Mortos & Johnny TV (w/Taya Valkyrie) (12:17)

Ishii and Mortos had a great “meaty men slapping meat” exchange. Cage got the tag against Briscoe, and fell to some redneck kung fu. O’Reilly got the tag, and fell victim to a full nelson slam. O’Reilly got in trouble in the heel corner, and fell victim to a Johnny TV moonsault while trapped by Mortos.

After the split-screen break, O’Reilly got the tag to Ishii to set up round two between Ishii and Mortos. Ishii dropped both Mortos and Brian Cage with brainbusters, then floored Johnny TV with a forearm. A suplex from Cage set up Ishii for a spear from Mortos for a near fall. Ishii ducked clotheslines from Cage and Mortos, who clotheslined each other. Briscoe got the tag and hit chops and forearms on Johnny TV and Cage. A gamengiri took out Cage, and a half-and-half suplex put Johnny TV down. Briscoe went for the Jay Driller, but Cage broke that up and the match fell apart with everyone hitting moves. Mortos hit O’Reilly with a Samoan Drop, but Ishii hit a sliding clothesline.

Briscoe set up a chair in the ring for a springboard, but Valkyrie pulled the chair out of the ring. This distraction sent the flight to the floor, and Johnny TV and Morstos hit dives on the floor. Brisco followed out with a tope on Johnny TV.  Valkyrie distracted Briscoe again, but he still took Cage out with a shotgun dropkick.

O’Reilly and Ishii hit a clothesline/legsweep combination on Johnny TV. O’Reilly then suplexed Johnny TV and locked on an armbar, and Johnny TV tapped out.

Fun party match, especially the parts with Ishii and Mortos.

Roderick Strong (w/ Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) defeated Fuego Del Sol (3:19)

The crowd was behind native Texan Del Sol, but Strong mauled him from the jump. Del Sol caught Strong with an enziguri to get a rollup for a near fall. Del Sol railled and went to the top rope, but Strong caught him with a kick, then gave Del Sol a full nelson slam onto the top turnbuckle. Strong then hit the End of Heartache for the pinfall.

Strong and the Undisputed Era had a second little confrontation with O’Reilly at the top of the ramp.

Mina Shirakawa defeated  Robyn Renegade (6:39)

Okay, here we go! The crowd chanted for Mina at the opening bell, and why shouldn’t they? She’s awesome. The crowd chanted “Let’s go Mina!” chants, and Shirakawa was eating it up. Shirakawa hit Renegade with a Russian Leg Sweep, then worked over Renegade’s leg. Renegade came back and hit Shirakawa with a running knee in the corner.

After a split-screen break, Renegade got a near fall after a double-stomp while Mina was hung up in the ropes. Shirawaka came back with a dragon screw legwhip into a figure-four attempt, but Renegade escaped. Renegade hit a clothesline, but Shirawaka escaped a suplex attempt, then locked on the figure four. Shirakawa bridged up, and Renegade tapped out. Great win for a returning Mina.

– Lexi Nair interviewed agitated Hikaru Shida, who walked into last year’s All In a champion but doesn’t have a place on this year’s card. Shida called herself the “Ace of the Women’s Division” and promised to show everyone why.

Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) defeated  The Iron Savages (Boulder & Bronson) w/Jacked Jameson (3:06)

I don’t ever think I’ll understand why this “Iron Savages” thing is better than “Bear Country.” But the crowd was fired up for Bronson and Tao Liona exchanging hard blows. Tags were made to Bishop Kaun and Boulder, and they just hammered each other to the crowd’s delight. Bounder finally dropped Kaun with a flying clothesline, but he came back with a Samaon Drop.

Boulder got the tag and fell victim to a high back bodydrop. Kaun followed up with a hip attack in the corner. Leona hit a charging knee in the corner, and the Gates of Agony finished Bronson off with a double team crucifix slam.

This match was the best ever argument for AEW booking smaller venues for their TV. The crowd was loud and completely into this match, elevating it into something fun in a way that just doesn’t come across when they have small crowds in big buildings. The crowd elevated everything tonight, but it was really apparent here.

– A hype video for Top Flight, Action Andretti and Lio Rush before their trios match tomorrow night against PAC and the Blackpool Combat Club.

Ross & Marshall Von Erich (w/Dustin Rhodes) defeated The Outrunners (w/Erica Leigh) (9:54)

Of course the Outrunners are in the main event.

Ross hit a nice dropkick on Truth Magnum. Marshall Von Erich and Turbo Floyd exchanged bodyslams. The Von Erichs sent both of the Outrunners to the floor with double dropkicks.

After the split-screen break, Ross fought his way out of a chinlock. Floyd went for a suplex, but Ross shifted his weight and fell on top of Floyd for a near fall. Ross was in trouble for several minutes, but the crowd got behind the Von Erichs. Marshall hit Floyd with a dropkick and dropped Magnum to the floor.  He finally got the tag to Marshall. Marshall hit Magnum with a discus punch. Marshall dropkicked Magnum off the turnbuckle, then hit Floyd with a cannonball in the corner. Marshall followed up with a moonsault on Floyd.. Magnum and Ross each locked in a claw on one of the Outrunners, and got the pinfall. This was okay.

After the match, The Undisputed Era and the Gates of Agony came out to attack the Von Erichs and Rhdoes. Sammy Guevara and The Conglomeration made the save.

I came into this show expecting something low energy and low effort, but the crowd brought a lot of energy and responded well to everything.

AEW Rampage live results: The Conglomeration in six-man tag team action

Three members of The Conglomeration will be in six-man tag action on tonight’s AEW Rampage.

ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, and Tomohiro Ishii of The Conglomeration take on The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum) and The Butcher in a trios match tonight.

Top Flight’s Darius Martin & Dante Martin face Mason Madden & Mansoor of MxM Collection in a tag team bout.

The Patriarchy’s Nick Wayne will take on Kip Sabian in singles competition in a continuation of Sabian’s involvement in a feud with The Patriarchy that has primarily played out on Collision.

Former Women’s World Champion Nyla Rose will be in action on the show against enhancement talent.

Rush & Kyle Fletcher of The Don Callis Family will have a tag team bout on tonight’s episode.

We will also hear from former Women’s World Champion Saraya in a promo segment.

Tonight’s Rampage was taped Wednesday night in Norfolk, Virginia at Chartway Arena. Spoilers from the taping are available here.

**********

Taped in Norfolk, Virginia.

Excalibur, Tony Schivone & Matt Menard were on commentary.

Orange Cassidy, Tomohiro Ishii & Mark Briscoe defeated The Outrunners & The Butcher (w/ Erica Leigh) (8:35)

Kyle O’Reilly joined the commentary team and let us know that the word of the day was “cohesiveness.” O’Reilly also let us know that Cassidy was the brains of the Conglomeration and Ishii was “the hot one.”

Ishii chopped away at Turbo Floyd in the corner. Briscoe got the tag and worked over Floyd with forearms. The Butcher pulled Briscoe out to the floor and suplexed him on the edge of the ring barricade to take control.

After a split screen break, Briscoe reversed a suplex attempt by Floyd and got the hot tag to Ishii (makes sense; he’s the hot one). Ishii dropped Floyd with a brainbuster. Ishii dumped both the Outrunners to the floor and ran through the Butcher with a shoulder block. Orange Cassidy got the tag and hit both Outrunners with a plancha.

Briscoe set up a chair in the ring to use a a springboard, but Butcher cut hom off. Butcher went for a powerbomb, but Cassidy took a seat in the chair and this distracted Butcher enough for Brisco to escape. Cassidy took out Butcher with the Orange Punch and Briscoe hit his springboard plancha. Briscoe then finished off one of the Outrunners with the Jay Driller to get the pinfall.

Nyla Rose then came out for her match.

Nyla Rose defeated Erika Leigh (1:18)

This was Leigh’s in-ring debut, and she got crushed with the Beast Bomb.

Saraya and Harley Cameron cut an in-ring promo and it was easily the greatest thing Cameron has ever done. And probably the best thing Saraya has done in AEW. Cameron would hilariously interject as Saraya ran down the last year of her career, starting with winning the Women’s title last year at All In and ending with her on “Dinner and a Movie,” “available on the TBS app.” Toni Storm came out to challenge Saraya, offering a title shot for Wednesday at Dynamite in Cardiff. Saraya promised to kick Storm’s a**, but Strom said she’d need a bigger foot.

– The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn shouted things about The Young Bucks and FTR, and put FTR on notice for their matchup tomorrow night.

Nick Wayne (w/ Killswitch & Mother Wayne) defeated Kip Sabian (7:07 aired)

Sabian hit an Arabian press on the floor. Mother Wayne distracted Sabian, which allowed Nick Wayne to go after Sabian’s surgically repaired shoulder, snapping it against the ringpost.

After the split screen break, Sabian hit a series of German suplxes, but Wayne came back with the Wayne’s World and a double underhook DDT.  Sabian maneuvered a second Wayne’s World attempt into a torture rack, but Mother Wayne distracted the referee, and Killswitch leveled Sabian with a headbutt. Nick then hit a second Wayne World for the pinfall.

In the back, Christian Cage approved. Most of this match took place during the split-screen break.

During the match they announced the following for Collision Saturday:

  • Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara v. Mike Bennett & Matt Taven for the ROH Tag team titles
  • Jack Perry in action.
  • Eddie Kingston addresses All In.
  • The latest film from Timeless Toni Storm
  • Britt Baker v. Harley Cameron

– Scorpio Sky tried to get into Private Party’s… private party. Even though he wasn’t initially on the list, Zay and Quen let him in anyway. Abadon could be seen drinking in the corner; well, Halloween is two months away.

Kyle Fletcher & Rush (w/ Don Callis) defeated KM & Rhett Titus (1:37)

Fletcher dropped the much larger KM with a Michinoku Driver. Fletcher then delivered a spinning uranage to Titus. Fletcher followed up with a half and hal suplex. Rush got the tag and stomped Titus in the corner. Rush finished off Titus with the running dropkick in the corner.

In the back after the match, Rush demanded that Don Callis get him something big. Fletcher apologized to Callis for losing last week to MJF, but Callis just wanted Fletcher to look ahead to the next thing.

Top Flight (w/ Leila Grey & Action Andretti) defeated The MxM Collection  (13:39)

Top Flight are now taking their name literally and dressing like a commercial flight crew. Lio Rush joined the commentary team.

Top Flight wrestling in trousers is not a good look for them. Dante took down Mansoor with a series of deep armdrags. Madden got the tag and overpowered Darius. Monsoon gave Darius a reverse atomic drop, and Madden followed up with a hip attack. Mansoor round up in the Top Flight corner, where they double teamed Manoor. Both members of MxM got dumped on the floor, and Leila Hirsh cleared Top Flight for stereo topes.

After a split-screen break, Mansoor hit a spinebuster for a near fall. Leila Grey tried to distract Monsoor, which allowed Darius to hit a superkick. Dante got the tag and hit a springboard crossbody for two. Dante got Mansoor with an airplane spin, but Madden broke that up. Madden tried to chokeslam both Darius and Dante, but the kicked him and both members of Top Flight gave Madden an airplane spin.

Dante caught Mansoor with a spinning DDT for a near fall. Madden caught Darius with a spinning Black Hole Slam, and Madden chokeslammed Dante into a German suplex from Mansoor for two. Mansoor and Madden tried for an elevated double underhook DDT, but Dante escaped. Dante hit Madden with a superkick and Darius put him down with a flatliner. Darius hit Mansoor with a brainbuster, and Dante followed up with a crossover splash, and Dante got the pinfall.

That was a good main event.

AEW Rampage live results: Darby Allin vs. The Butcher

Darby Allin will be in action on tonight’s AEW Rampage.

Allin will face The Butcheras he looks to continue his roll ahead of his challenge of Jack Perry for the TNT Championship at All In, followed by his challenge for the AEW World Championship at Dynamite Grand Slam in late-September.

This will be their third-ever meeting with Allin unbeaten thus far (2-0).

Blackpool Combat Club’s Wheeler Yuta will take on Rocky Romero ahead of his non-title match with AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland on this Wednesday’s Dynamite. Bryan Danielson will be on commentary.

In a battle of former Women’s World Champions, Saraya will face Nyla Rose.

Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) will face two enhancement talents and we will also hear from new ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champion Dustin Rhodes on tonight’s program.

This week’s Rampage was taped Wednesday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Spoilers from the show are available here.

**********

Taped in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

An “In Memoriam” graphic for Kevin Sullivan opened the show.

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Matt Menard were on commentary.

Darby Allin defeated The Butcher (10:24)

An actual star wrestling on Rampage.

Butcher started out fast and slammed Allin into the ropes, then pulled him out of the corner for a modified powerbomb. Allin was bleeding from the mouth less than a minute in. The fight went to the floor, where Butcher sent Allin into the steps and stepped on his head. Allin avoided a crossbody against the ring barricade, then came off the top to the floor with the Coffin Drop.

Back in the ring, Allin came off the top for a crossbody, but he just bounced off the Butcher. Butcher followed up with a shotgun dropkick. Butcher tossed Allin through the ropes to the floor.

After a split-screen break, Butcher locked Allin in a Texas Cloverleaf. Just as Allin was making the ropes, Butcher pulled Allin up into a powerbomb for another near fall. Butcher propped Allin up on the ropes and then slapped him to the floor. On the floor, Butcher slung Allin’s head into the ring barricade, powerbombed him into the post, then back suplexed him on the edge of the ring barricade.

Allin came back with a tope suicida that barely caught Butcher. Back in the ring, Allin hit a pair of Coffin Splashes in the corner. He went for a thirdCoffin Splash, but Butcher countered with a sleeper, then a powerbomb for a near fall.

Butcher set up Allin for a superplex, but Allin countered with an avalanche Code Red, Allin followed up with a Coffin Drop and got the pinfall.

– Rush and Don Callis were not happy about Rush’s loss on Dynamite Wednesday. Callis booked Rush a match with Preston Vance (remember him?) to prove that Rush will dowhatever it takes to be the best. Callis just doesn’t want a victory, he wants Vance hurt.

Preston Vance?

– Last Wednesday after Dynamite, Jeff Jarrett was putting himself over to Renee Paquette, then Adam Page started a fight with Jarrett and his pals. Afterwards, Jay Lethal challenged Page for Wednesday on Dynamite.

Wheeler Yuta (w/ Bryan Danielson) defeated  Rocky “Azucar” Romero (9:53)

Danielson joined the commentary team for the match.

Lots of matwork to start. Both guys exchanged side headlocks until Yuta caught Romero with a backdrop suplex. Yuta backed Romero into the corner for some chops, but Romero fired back. Yuta sidestepped a charge from Romero to send him to the floor, then followed up with a tope suicida.

During the commercial break, Yuta caught a sliced bread #2 on the floor. Back in the ring, Romero worked a chinlock as Swerve Strickland was shown watching from the back. Romero hit the forever clothclines until Yuta came out of the corner and took Romero out with a lariat. After both guys exchanged chops, Yuta hit a reverse atomic drop and an enziguri.

Yuta went to the top rope, but Romero cut him off. Romero hit a top rope hurricanrana, then hit a Sliced Bread inside the ring for two. Romero tried it again, but Yuta countered with a cross legged tombstone piledriver. Romeo is dead, and after the hammer and tong elbows, Yuta locked in Cattle Mutilation for the submission. Great showcase for Yuta.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Willow Nightingale. Nightingale expressed her annoyance with Stokley Hathaway. Tomohiro Ishii interrupted to mention he’s annoyed by Hathaway too, and this gave Nightingale an idea. To be continued… at Wembley?

Private Party defeated  Dave Dawson & Zane Dawson (3:57)

During this match, Tony Schiavone called Wednesday’s Dynamite card “loaded,” which is an exaggeration on the level with him calling 1999 Nitros the greatest night in the history of our sport. Wednesday’s card currently has two squash matches and a face-to-face between Claudio Castignoli & Kazuchika Okada.

Quen did a great job building up a bodyslam spot with the much larger Zane Dawson. Zay caught Dave Dawson with a rana and the Silly String. Zay hit one of the Dawson brothers with a stunner and a sliced bread, then they double teamed  the other with the Gin and Juice and got the pinfall. Back to the creek for the Dawsons.

– Deonna Purrazzo hyped up her bullrope match with Thunder Rosa tomorrow night.

– Dustin Rhodes cut a promo about his winning the ROH World Six Man Titles, his first title in AEW. Then Rhodes teamed with Sammy Guevara in ROH. Rhodes challenged the ROH World Tag Team champions. Matt Taven and Mike Bennett responded with a low kick to Rhodes. Rhodes and Guevara v. the ROH tag champs would have been a good match for that ROH ppv two weeks ago.

Saraya (w/ Harley Cameron) defeated Nyla Rose (10:33)

Saraya attacked Rose from behind as she was distracted by Cameron and she fell to the floor. Back in the ring. Saraya went for a sleeper but Rose shrugged her off. Saraya worked over Rose with some forearms in the corner, but Rose reversed it into some body shots. Saraya dropped to the floor. Rose followed her out, and Saraya tied her up in the ring apron to take control.

After a long commercial, Saraya tried for a sunset flip, but Rose sat on her for a near fall. Rose hit a clothesline, a side suplex and a senton. Rose went for a splash, but Saraya got her knees up. Saraya hit a knee strike and the Nightcap for a near fall. Cameron called for the “Turn the Page” and Saraya shouted “That’s not what it’s called anymore.” Rose came back with a thrust kick for a near fall. Rose and Saraya took each other out with a double clothesline.

Rose hit a chokeslam, but Cameron got on the apron to distract the ref. This drew Rose to the outside. Saraya tried to sneak up behind Rose, but she caught Saraya with a forearm. Rose tried to suplex Saraya back into the ring, but Cameron swept Rose’s legs and Saraya fell on top of Rose. Cameron held onto Rose’s legs and Saraya got the pinfall. The Warrior/Rude finish from WrestleMania V! Love it!

After the match, Schiavone ran down the card for Collision:

  • FTR v. The Outrunners
  • House of Black v. The Bang Bang Gang
  • Thunder Rosa v. Deonna Purrazzo in a Bullrope Match
  • Rush v. Preston Vance
  • Hikaru Shida in action
  • Darby Alllin & Hologram v. The Premiere Athletes
  • And Swerve Strickland in an eliminator match.

They probably should have promoted an appearance from the world champion before 10:59 on Friday night.

AEW Rampage live results: MxM Collection vs. Private Party

Five matches are set for tonight’s AEW Rampage, including MxM Collection facing Private Party.

The MxM duo of Mason Madden & Mansoor will take on Private Party’s Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen in the lone tag team bout on tonight’s episode. MxM Collection made their in-ring ROH debut at the Death Before Dishonor pre-show last Friday, and followed up with their AEW debut on Saturday’s Collision against FTR.

A match with Brian Cage of Cage of Agony facing enhancement talent Manny Lo was taped for the show, advertised just as Brian Cage in action.

The Learning Tree’s Bryan Keith will also face an enhancement talent on the show, as he goes one-on-one with Jackson Drake.

In a women’s division contest, former AEW Women’s Champion Nyla Rose will face Harley Cameron.

Wheeler Yuta vs. The Butcher in singles competition rounds out the five-match lineup for the show.

Tonight’s episode was taped Wednesday night in Greenville, South Carolina. Spoilers for the show are available here.

**********

Taped in Greenville, South Carolina.

Excalibur, Matt Menard and Tony Schiavone were on commentary.

Wheeler Yuta (w/ Bryan Danielson) defeated The Butcher (10:38)

Danielson actually went over to the commentary table.

Yuta transitioned from a flying octopus hold into a sunset flip for a near fall, but Butcher got right up and mauled him with a shoulderblock. Yuta sent Butcher to the floor and followed him out with a tope. On the floor, Yuta whipped Butcher into the guardrail and hit a forearm. Back in the ring, Yuta went for a blind dive, but Butcher sidestepped him and dropped him with a backbreaker for a near fall.

After the split-screen break, Yuta came off the top with a cross bodyblock. Yuta followed up with a flying clothesline to take Butcher off his feet. Yuta followed up with an enziguri and an elbow strike. Yuta came off the top with a flying forearm. Yuta hit a German suplex and bridge for a near fall. Yuta stomped on Butcher’s arm and locked on a kimura, but Butcher casually got to his feet and hit a powerbomb for a near fall.

Yuta went for a  double chicken wing. When Yuta couldn’t get Butcher down, he bit on his neck and got Butcher down for the mat, then locked in Daneilson’s Cattle Mutilation hold to get Butcher to tap out.

Brian Cage defeated Manny Lo (0:58)

Cage picked Lo up for a slam and gave him a cutter. Cage finished Lo off with Weapon X. That was a proper squash.

– Renee Pauqette interviewed Don Callis and Kyle Fletcher. Brian Cage interrupted, and Fletcher challenged Brian Cage for Collision. Callis is not happy about all this wrestling Kyle Fletcher wants to do.

Nyla Rose defeated  Harley Cameron (7:54)

According to her pre match promo, Cameron is wrestling this match on Saraya’s behalf, who is protesting because she’s not a part of All In. But I don’t think Saraya was ever advertised for this match.

Nyla dumped Cameron to the floor and teased doing a dive on the outside. Cameron sent Rose into the ring barricade. Back in the ring, Carermon choked Rose in the corner with a boot to the throat.

After the commercial break, Cameron went for a tijeras but Rose countered it with a backbreaker. Rose followed up with a big legdrop for two. Cameron came off the middle ropes with a crossbody and got powerslamed. Rose missed a cannon ball in the corner. Cameron got a near fall off a running knee. Cameron gave Rose a Bronco buster, but Rose powered up and turn it into a running Beast Bomb to get the pinfall.

– Private Party cut a promo on the MxM Collection.

“Bad Apple” Bryan Keith (w/ Chris Jericho & Big Bill) defeated  Jackson Drake

Keith caught Drake with an exploder suplex and a big boot. Keith gave Drake the Diamond Dust to get the pinfall.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Katsuyori  Shibata. Through his phone, Shibata promised Hook and Samoa Joe would be back soon, and he would hurt all of Bryan Keith to revenge for what Keith did to his arm.

– A preview of the big eight tag main event for Collision tomorrow afternoon.

MxM Collection (Mason Madden & Mansoor) defeated  Private Party (Zay & Quen) (12:07)

Mason Madden was recruited to the Jaguars after college, which makes him the first guy to work for Tony Khan in the NFL and AEW. Frustrated by Zay doing the “Shots! Shots! Shots!” taught, Madden let the crowd know this was a serious wrestling contest.

Madden was easily a head taller than everyone else in this match. Quen used Zay as a springboard and dropkicked Madden, then Private Party gave Mansoor a flapjack when he tried to run in.

MxM had the advantage during the break. After the break, Quen got the hot tag and hit Mansoor with a series of forearms and a shoulder tackle. Quen hit a standing moonsault and a lionsault. Madden ran in and got an enziguri, and Quen hit Mansoor with an enziguri as well. Private Party hit a back suplex/neckbreaker combo for a near fall. Private Party tried a double suplex on Madden, but Madden reversed it and suplexed both Private Party. Madden hit a leg lariat on Zay into a sitdown powerbomb from Mansoor for a near fall.

Zay came off the ropes with a springboard tornado DDT for a near fall, then hit Madden with a dropkick. Zay went for a tope on Madden on the floor, but Madden caught him with a Black Hole Slam. Quen came off the top with a tope con hilo on Madden.

Back in the ring, Quen and Mansoor are legal. Quen went up the top, but Madden caught him with a chokeslam off the top rope. Monsoon took Kassidy out with a superkick. Mansoor and Madden hit Quen with an elevated/implant double underhook DDT to get the pinfall. MxM Collection looked good here.

AEW Rampage live results: Royal Rampage

A battle royal for a future shot at the AEW World Championship headlines tonight’s AEW Rampage.

The annual Royal Rampage is a dual ring over-the-top-rope battle royal with the winner earning the aforementioned title shot at this September’s Dynamite Grand Slam in Queens, New York.

Brody King won the 2022 version for a shot at the then-Interim AEW World Championship while Darby Allin won last year’s match for a shot at the TNT Championship at All Out.

Kris Statlander will be in action on tonight’s show, facing Leila Grey in the latter’s first televised bout since March 2023.

A four-way tag team match will feature The Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher & Rush) vs. The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum) vs. The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen).

Lance Archer is also set for action on tonight’s show against an enhancement talent.

Spoilers from the show are available here.

**********

– Excalibur, Matt Menard, and Tony Schiavone were on commentary for tonight’s episode of Rampage.

Darby Allin won the Royal Rampage Match (Winner Earns an AEW World Title Shot at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam)

Orange Cassidy, Claudio Castagnoli, Brody King, and Komander entered first to start the match in the two rings. Cassidy faced off with King, while Castagnoli and Komander were face to face.

Cassidy held on to King’s hand, while Komander did the same with Castagnoli. Both tried for a simultaneous arm drag, but King and Castagnoli stopped them cold in their tracks.

Entrant 5: Tomohiro Ishii (The Conglomeration)

Ishii and King began battering each other with chops as Komander tried and failed to eliminate Castagnoli. Over in the other ring, Conglomeration teammates Ishii and Cassidy teamed up on King.

Entrant 6: Brian Cage

Cage went after Castagnoli in the right ring and hit a feint kick. Komander’s casa dora was caught by Cage, who slammed him down.

Entrant 7: The Butcher

King and Butcher hit a double elbow drop on Ishii and continued to work together as they attacked Cassidy afterwards. The alliance was short-lived as King and Butcher foguth each other.

Entrant 8: “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard

Menard got up from his commentary table and entered the right ring to attack Castagnoli with punches.

Entrant 9: Roderick Strong (Undisputed Kingdom)

Strong slid into the left ring and went right after Cassidy immedaitely, then stomping on King, and Ishii in the other corners. Strong and Butcher worked together as the former took out King with a running knee.

Entrant 10: Kip Sabian

Sabian entered the right ring and went on an offensive flurry against the competitors inside that ring. The action began to wind down for a bit as the next entrant made his way to the ring.

Entrant 11: Brandon Cutler

Cutler walked down the ring with a microphone and talked about what he and the Young Bucks went through in Blood and Guts. He ended up being the first elimination after Ishii clotheslined Cutler as he got on the apron.

Entrant 12: Nick Wayne (The Patriarchy)

Wayne entered the right ring and went after Sabian right away. Hurricanrana by Wayne, followed by a dropkick on Sabian. Meanwhile, Cage eliminated Menard from Royal Rampage with a clothesline.

Entrant 13: Kyle O’Reilly (The Conglomeration)

O’Reilly targeted Strong with his signature kicks before he turned his attention to The Butcher. Menard returned to commentary in the mean time.

Entrant 14: Jeff Jarrett

Jarrett got a huge reaction from the crowd as he entrered the right ring and went on a tear. Rampage went to a picture-in-picture break at this point, with the Royal Rampage match still in progress.

The Butcher was eliminated as Rampage returned from the break, which led to the next entrant entering.

Entrant 15: Matt Taven (Undisputed Kingdom)

Taven aided Strong in the left ring as he went after Cassidy and O’Reilly. Over on the left ring, Komander was eliminated by Wayne after he got pushed off the ropes.

Entrant 16: Jay Lethal

Lethal mixed it up with Wayne in the right ring, flooring him with a smooth dropkick. Jarrett and Lethal attempted to team up to get Wayne eliminated, but Sabian instead got the honor of eliminating Wayne. We saw the rest of The Patriarchy watching the match backstage, as Christian was upset at Killswitch for not helping Wayne out in Royal Rampage.

Entrant 17: Mike Bennett (Undisputed Kingdom)

Bennett floored Cassidy with a backpack stunner of sorts before he got into a chop battle with Ishii in the middle of the left ring. Bennett and Taven then worked together on Ishii.

Entrant 18: The Beast Mortos

Mortos took down Castagnoli with a pop-up Samoan Drop and hit Lethal with a fierce headbutt. Jarrett and Lethal worked together to eliminate Sabian from Royal Rampage.

Entrant 19: Darby Allin

King locked his eyes towards Allin and began to fight with him in the left ring. King rammed Allin back-first into the corner as the battle spilled outside with both men rolling under the ring to avoid elimination. In the right ring, Jarrett and Lethal hit double guillotines on Castagnoli and Mortos as they then did the Jarrett strut.

Entrant 20: Lio Rush

As Rush entered the ring, Allin and King were fighting in the crowd. Back inside the ring, Rush fought with Castagnoli and Lethal as Rampage headed to another picture-in-picture break.

Rampage returned with Mortos getting eliminated by Rush, while Allin and King’s brawl made its way back to the ringside area. Ishii and Bennett ended up getting eliminated around the same time. Rapid fire eliminations happened with Cassidy, Taven, and O’Reilly all getting eliminated one after the other. Allin, King, and Strong were left in the left ring.

Castagnoli caught Rush from the apron and brought him over the rope. In the ensuing standoff, Rush was eliminated after Castagnoli threw him from the apron. Strong ended up also getting eliminated simultaneously. Lethal also got eliminated.

Over on the left ring, Allin and King had fought on the apron until Allin scored the eliminatiuon by charging into King to send him crashing from the apron. Back on the right ring, Jarrett was on fire against Castagnoli and Cage. “Hangman” Adam Page appeared out of nowhere to ambush Jarrett from behind. With Jarrett out of it, this allowed Cage to easily eliminate Jarrett. We went to a full commercial break with Hangman continuing to pummel Jarrett at ringside.

Back from the break, Castagnoli and Cage were fighting in the right ring, while Allin got a bit of time to rest as the last man standing in the left ring. Castagnoli and Cage’s fight made its way to the apron, where Castagnoli got the elimination by hitting the Neutralizer on Cage.

With two competitors left, Castagnoli got the upper hand by throwing Allin from one ring to the other, which caused Allin to roll out under the bottom rope.

Outside the ring, Castagnoli grabbed the steel steps and then did the Giant Swing on Allin right into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Castagnoli threw Allin with a German suplex. On a second German suplex attempt, Allin landed on his feet and sent Castagnoli to the apron.

Castagnoli grabbed Allin from the apron and the two began to fight. Allin bit at Castagnoli’s hand and perched him on the top rope. Allin went up top with a Coffin Drop to cause Castagnoli to tumble to the outside for the win.

This year’s Royal Rampage might not have been as strong as previous year’s editions, but it was still an entertaining match. Allin as the holder of the AEW World Title shot at Grand Slam in September will make whoever leaves All In: London as AEW Champion between Swerve Strickland and Bryan Danielson quite the interesting opponent.

– After the match, Castagnoli refused to shake Allin’s hand.

**********

– We got comments from Willow Nightingale after Kris Statlander’s attack on her on Dynamite this pst Wednesday. Nightingale said that Statlander might be a bit obsessed with her as she put up her CMLL Women’s Championship on the line for next week’s Dynamite in a Title Eliminator match.

Kris Statlander defeated Leila Gray

Statlander kicked Gray in the head before finishing things off with the Friday Night Fever for the quick win.

Pretty much a short squash to give Statlander some heat ahead of her CMLL Women’s Championship Eliminator Match on Dynamite.

**********

Lance Archer defeated Local Talent

Archer carried his opponent to the ring, having already beaten him up before hand. Once both made their way to the ring, Archer made short work of his opponent with repeated chokeslams, much to the approval of the Nashville crowd. Archer put an end to things with the Blackout for the pin and win.

Short and sweet, but it’s always fun to see Archer put away hapless jobbers.

**********

– Backstage, Saraya and Harley Cameron were interviewed. Saraya said she’d be in action next week to prove why she deserved to be in the ring at Wembley for All In: London.

Don Callis Family (Rush & Kyle Fletcher) defeated The Outrunners (Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd), The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch) and Private Party (Isaiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

The match began in progress as Vincent found himself getting floored by an Outrunners double team attack. Dutch entered the match and easily pushed aside Magnum and Floyd. The Righteous continued to have control of the action. Rampage went to its final commercial break with The RIghteous having the upper hand.

We returned from break with Private Party in the match, using their high-flying offense to take everyone out. Kassidy took down Dutch with a backstabber, which allowed Quen to soar with a 450 splash on the big man. Floyd dropped Kassidy across the top rope with a guillotine. Floyd’s taunt was interrupted by Fletcher, who began to chop at Floyd alongside Rush.

The Don Callis Family duo showed great chemistry as Rush set Floyd up for his running attack, but stopped short and kicked him instead. Fletcher finished this match with a belly-to-belly Tombstone piledriver on Floyd for the victory.

– After the match, Rush took the camera cable from Don Callis and choked Floyd with it as Fletcher punched at Floyd to end this week’s Rampage.

A decent main event that did get disrupted a bit by the sheer length of Royal Rampage so the flow felt a bit off. That said, it’s always good seeing these four teams get a spotlight in the main event.

AEW Rampage live results: Kings of the Black Throne vs. Premier Athletes

House of Black’s Kings of the Black Throne will be in tag team action as part of tonight’s five-match AEW Rampage lineup.

Roderick Strong will also be in action on the show. Strong is also set for Saturday’s Collision where he takes on Dalton Castle in a number one contender’s match for a shot at the ROH World Championship.

Spoilers for tonight’s taped episode of Rampage are available here.

**********

Taped in Southaven, Mississippi.

Tony Schiavone & Matt Menard were on commentary.

Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black & Brody King) defeated Tony Nese & Ari Daivari (w/ Mark Sterling & Josh Woods) (9:57)

Nese took an impressively high backdrop from Brody King early on as the Kings just destoryed Nese and Daivari. Woods pulled the top rope down on King while he was running the ropes, causing him to tumble to the floor. Nese the followed him outside with a tope con hilo, and all three members of the Premiere Athletes jumped King on the floor.  So that’s how they managed to make this match which should have been a complete squash somewhat competitive going into the break.

After the split-screen break, King dropped Nese with a Boss Man Slam and got the tag to Balack. Black took out Daivari with a step up rana, then hit Nese with a running knee. Black caught Daivari with a moonsault for a near fall. Black caught Nese with a black elbow and Daivari with a spinning kick. King fought with Woods on the floor, which allowed Daivari to break a clipboard over Black’s head. Nese hit a 450 splash on Black for a near fall.

On the floor, King set up Daivari food a crossbody against the ring apron. Sterling got in the way, so King splashed into Sterling and Daivari. Back in the ring, Black dropped Nese with a  brainbuster, and while King choked out Daivari on the ring apron, Black hit the spin kick on Nese to get the pinfall.

Roderick Strong (w/ Mike Bennett and Matt Taven) defeated Ben Bishop (1:10)

Bishop is huge. He tossed around the much smaller Strong in the beginning, but Strong chopped him down to size by attacking his knees. Strong gave Bishop the Angle Slam, then hit him with a running knee to get the pinfall.

Tomorrow night, Strong will take on Dalton Castle, and the winner of that match is the #1 Contender for the ROH World Title at Death Before Dishonor.

– A Deonna Purrazzo vignette aired where she drank wine and talked trash.

Rey Fenix defeated AR Fox, Angelico and Komander (9:29 aired)

First pinfall wins.

AR Fox got some shine early, hitting a moonsault on the floor and then rolling into the ring to deliver a brainbuster. Fenix hit Komander with a killer ropewalk punt kick just before the commercial.

After the break, Angelico tried a leg grapevine submission on Fox, but Komader broke that up with a shooting star press. Komader hit Fox with a DDT for a near fall. Komader caught Fenix with a crucifix bomb for a near fall. Fenix hit a springboard spin kick on Komader in the corner. Komader, Fenix and Fox all battled in the turnbuckle. Fox got knocked to the mat. Angelico tried to suplex Komader to the floor, but Fenix kicked him off. Fenix pushed Komader into a moonsault on Angelico, and Fneix came off the top with a frog splash on Fox. Fenix tied up Fox’s arms and got a submission.

– From Dynamite, Chris Jericho broke the walls down with Samoa Joe on a forklift. After the match, Renee Paquette interviewed Jericho, who was unapologetic. Jericho suggests ginger and black pepper for all of Joe’s inflamed muscles, and promised an edition of TV Time on Dynamite next week. Big Bill promised they will “maximize their minutes.”

Thunder Rosa defeated Rachael Ellering (3:28)

Ellering hit a rolling forearm and senton for a near fall. Rosa came back with a dropkick in the corner and a diving dropkick against the ropes. Rosa tried for her finisher, but Ellering backdropped out of it. Rosa tied up Ellering with a cobra clutch/camel clutch to get a submission.

After the match, Purrazzo attacked both Rosa and Ellering, and put Rosa down with a pump kick.

Shane Taylor, Lee Moriarty & Anthony Ogogo defeated Top Flight & Action Andretti (11:28)

According to his on-screen graphic, Ogogo has an “AEW High 23 straight wins” which surprised me because I could have sworn he hasn’t wrestled since Cody beat him in 2021.

Andretti stunned Taylor with a Pele kick, then took him over the top rope and too the floor with a hurricanrana.

After the split-screen break, Darius Martin took out Taylor with a top rope bulldog. Darius got the tag and hit Moriarty with a flatliner for a near fall. Andretti got the tag and dopkicked Moriarty into a german suplex from Darius. Taylor floored Darius with a lariat, but Dante flew in with a knee strike on Taylor. Moriarty dropped Darius Martin with a flatliner. Andretti hit Taylor with an enziguri meant for Moriarty. Andretti hit Ogogo on the floor with a plancha, then came back in the ring with a springboard clothesline for Moriarty. Andretti escaped a powerbomb and hit Taylor with a dropkick. Taylor came back with an uranage. Taylor then floored Andretti with a forearm and got the pinfall.

The eventual tournament winner will challenge Toni Storm for the Women’s World Championship at All In at London’s Wembley Stadium on Sunday, August 25.

Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher of The Don Callis Family will be in tag team action on tonight’s episode against Private Party’s Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen.

Kyle O’Reilly will have a singles match against enhancement talent GPA on the show.

Rush will also go one-on-one with Komander on tonight’s episode.

AEW Rampage Beach Break was taped Wednesday night, July 3 in Chicago at the Wintrust Arena. Spoilers from the show are available here.

**********

Taped in Chicago, Illinois.

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone & Don Callis were on commentary, at least for the opener.

Rush defeated Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes) (12:09)

This was every Rush match in AEW where he just beats up his opponent around ringside and treats him like a total jobber.

Rush violently yanked Komader off the ring apron and to the floor, then tossed him all about the ring barricades. Referee Aubrey Edwards kept Rush from using a steel chair, but while she got the chair out of the ring, Rush choked Koamder with the camera cable.

Back in the ring, Rush hit a powerslam and a running double stomp. Rush kicked an imaginary field goal. Komader hit a spinning DDT. Rush went to the floor. Komader jumped off the apron with a rana, but Rush caught Komader and swung him into the ring barricade, getting a seal of approval from Don Callis.

Rush did the spot where he went for the diving dropkick in the corner, but stopped and hit the guy with a kick instead. But they guy isn’t moving out of the corner or anything, so why doesn’t Rush just finish the guy? Anyway, Rush hung up Komader on the top rope and went for the diving dropkick again, but Komader pulled himself up and Rush missed. Komader hit a torino in the ring and a tope suicida out of the ring. Koamder followed up with an Asai moonsault.

Back in the ring, Komader hit a shooting star press for a near fall. and a crucifix bomb for another near fall. Rush came back with a German suplex and a headbutt. Rush hit a superplex for two. The fight went to the apron, and Rush belly to belly suplexed Komader to the floor. Back in the ring, Rush hit the diving dropkick in the corner for the pinfall.

After the match, Rush dumped Komander at Don Callis’s feet. “Can we get a coroner for Komader? It doesn’t look good.”

– Renee Paquette interviewed the Undisputed Era about the Conglomeration. Roderick Strong wants revenge for Ishii taking the ROH TV title from him 3059 days ago.

Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher defeated Private Party (9:10)

Fletcher & Takeshita jumped Private Party when they got to the ring. Private Party went for a double-team suplex on Takeshita, but Takeshita reversed it and suplexed both his opponents. Fletcher than stacked both members of Private Party on top of each other, and Takeshita came off the middle rope with a senton bomb.

After the commercial, Zay hit Fletcher with a top ropes crossbody and a hurricanrana. Zay knocked Takshita out of the ring with a dropkick, then took both his opponents out on the floor with a tornio. Zay grabbed a shark fin hat from someone in the crowd, and came off the top with a senton.

Stereo brainbusters got The Callis Family team a near fall. Private Party countered a top rope powerbomb attempt into the Gin and Juice on Takeshita, then took out Fletcher with the Silly String. Takeshita came back and mowed down both members of Private Party with clotheslines. Zay got hit with a blue thunder bomb from Takeshita, and Fletcher finished off Quen with a face-first piledriver.

The first two matches were overly long squashes that really drug down the show.

– Don Callis conducted business earlier this week and signed Rush. Wouldn’t it have made sense to show this before Rush’s match tonight?

– A video package ran down Daniel Garcia’s match with Will Ospreay and a MJF’s heel turn.

– Roderick Strong has replaced Don Callis on commentary.

Kyle O’Reilly defeated GPA (1:34)

O’Reilly won after a suplex into a juji gatame. After the match, the Undisputed Era tried to celebrate with O’Reilly, who walked off.

– Samoa Joe challenged Chris Jericho for next week in Calgary. Joe promised a massacre. Later in the show, Chris Jericho v. Samoa Joe in a Calgary Street Fight was announced for Dynamite.

– “Timeless” Toni Storm narrated a hype video for her match with Trish Adora tomorrow night on Collision.

Mariah May (w/ Luther & Toni Storm) defeated Hikaru Shida in a Owen Hart Foundation Women Tournament Semi-Final Match (11:35)

May went for a sunset flip powerbomb off the apron and onto the floor, but Shida countered with a rana. Shida and Storm got into each others faces on the floor. May and Shida fought on the floor during the split-screen commercial break. Then it was all Shida once they got back in the ring.

After the long break finally ended, May took control with clotheslines and a running knee. May came off the top rope with a dropkick for a near fall. Shida hit an enziguri, then sent May headfirst into the turnbuckle. Shida hit a superplex for a near fall.

Shida drove May down to her knees with right hands. May came back with a spinning slide slam. May went for a hip attack, but Shida caught her and suplxed her. May responded with a suplex of her own. Shida went for the Falcon Arrow, but only got one. May followed up on a back suplex with a hip attack. May went for the Storm Zero, which lead to a series of cradle reversals. Toni Storm distracted Shida, who walked into a headbutt from May, but Shida came back with a knee. Shida went for the katana kick, but May countered that with a cradle and got the pinfall.

The finals will now be Willow Nightingale v. Mariah May for the title shot at All In.

For Collision Saturday:

  • Riho v. Lady Frost
  • The Conglomeration v. The Iron Savages
  • We’ll hear from Jack Perry, MJF, Christian Cage (separately).
  • Adam Page v. Jay White in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Semi Final match.

NJPW’s Shingo Takagi vs. Dalton Castle is also set for tonight’s episode.

**********

Taped in Allentown, PA.

Tony Schiavone, Nigel McGunniess, and hometown son Ian Riccaboni were on commentary.

Orange Cassidy defeated The Outrunners in a 2-on-1 Match (6:01)

This match was nothing but comedy. The Outrunners did a lot of posing. Cassidy avoided a half dozen elbow drops from the Outrunners, then him them both with a dropkick. The Outrunners dropped Cassidy with a double back suplex for a near fall. Cassidy avoided a splash in the corner from Turbo Floyd, then took out Truth Magnum with a tope suicida. Back in the ring, Cassidy hit both his opponents with the Orange Punch and got the pinfall.

– Renee Paquette interviewed the Learning Tree. Jericho announced that he had a new partner for the trios match at Forbidden Door. He will announce the identity of the new partner  tomorrow night at Collision.

Gabe Kidd & Roderick Strong (w/ Mike Bennett and Matt Taven) defeated The Infantry (w/ Trish Adora) (6:24)

I’m a pretty regular AEW watcher and I have no idea why I’m supposed to care about the Infantry. Shawn Dean took a beating for most of the match. He got the tag to Carlie Bravo. Bravo hit Kidd with an outside-in cutter for a near fall. Bravo hit Kidd with a scissor kick, and Shawn Dean followed up with a frog splash for the near fall. Strong tripped of Bravo, allowing Kidd to hit Dean with a backdrop driver. Kidd finished off Bravo with a piledriver.

El Phantasmo defeated  AR Fox in the last Qualifier Match for the  TNT Championship Ladder Match (5:23)

The commentators tried  to build up Fox as a threat, but Fox didn’t even get a real entrance. Also how valuable is the TNT Title if two guys who haven’t been in the company for like a year are fighting for a title shot?

Fox hit a senton bomb for a near fall. Phantasmo came back with a flying forearm and a pair of atomic drops. Phantasmo dropped a Bret Hart style elbow off the middle rope. Phantasmo hit a Lionsault for a near fall. Fox came back with an enziguri and a twisting brainbuster. Fox hit the 450 splash for a near fall. Fox set Phantasmo up for something on the middle rope, but walked into a Panama Sunrise from Phantasmo. Phantasmo hit a straight jacket face-first piledriver to get the pinfall. Felt like a collection of spots.

– Lexi Nair interviewed Deonna Purrazzo ahead of her Owen Hart quarter final match tomorrow night.

– Saraya and Harley Cameron cut a promo ahead of Saraya’s match with Mariah May at Zero Hour on Sunday.

– A video package hyped up Ultimo Guerrero for his match with Kazuchika Okada on Collision tomorrow night.

Rey Fenix (w/ Alex Abrahantes) defeated Turbo Floyd (w/ Truth Magnum) (1:27)

Floyd and Magnum are the Outrunners. This was pretty much a complete squash. Fenix scored the pinfall victory with a frog slash. After the match, Penta came out to celebrate with Fenix and Abrahantes.

Lio Rush defeated Action Andretti in a TNT Title Ladder Match Qualifier (7:16 aired)

I’m still not sure if Lio Rush is a New Japan guy here for Forbidden Door season or a near AEW signee.

Both guys went for a crossbody and collided in the middle of the ring right before the show went to commercial.

After the break, Andretti dumped Rush on the apron, then set him to the floor with a boot. Andretti hit an Arabian Press on the floor. Andretti missed a 450, but caught Rush with a Falcon Arrow for two. Rush went for a crossbody, but Andretti countered with a flipping powerslam/Spanish Fly type move for a near fall. Rush avoided a split-legged moonsault and hit a roundhouse kick. Rush hit a springboard stunner and followed up with a big frog splash to get the pinfall.

After the match, Top Flight came out to check on Andretti. Rush then showed respect to all his opponents by shaking their hands.

– Excalibur ran down the cards for tomorrow night’s Collision and next week’s Dyanmite, and I think the only new information was an announcement that MJF will be in Buffalo.

Shingo Takagi defeated AR Fox (3:43)

Fox got a fast start on Takagi, hitting a senton for a near fall. Takagi came back with a huge clothesline. Takagi used the hammer and tong elbows (like the Blackpool Combat Club), but Fox avoided the sliding lariat. Fox hit a 450 splash for a near fall. Takagi came back with a Death Valley Driver and the Pumping Bomer. Takagi hit Made in Japan to finish off Fox.

After the match, Bryan Danielson came out to shake Takagi’s hand, but Takagi slapped it away.

Willow Nightingale defeated Serena Deeb in a First Round match of the Owen Hart Women’s Tournament (11:32)

There were dueling “Let’s Go Willow! Let’s Go Deeb!” chants. Willow slammed Deeb at hit a sliding crossbody for a near fall. Nightingale followed up with a delayed suplex. Nightingale missed a middle rope dropkick, which gave Deeb the opening to start working on Nightingale’s leg. The fight went to the floor, where Deeb hit a Twist-n-Shout neckbreaker.

back in the ring, Nightingale hit a spinebuster for a near fall. Deeb came back with an Octopus, but Nightingale powered out. Deeb tried for a half-crab, but Nightingale powered out again. Deeb hit a German suplex and followed up with the hammerlock/clothesline combo for a near fall.

Deeb went to the top, but Nightingale cut her off and superplexed Deeb to the mat. Both women exchanged strikes, and Willow hit a big lariat for a near fall. Deeb dodged a cannonball in the corner. Deeb hit the Detox for a near fall. Deeb tried for a figure-four, but Nightingale kicked her away. Nightingale came back with the Pounce, and then hit the Doctor Bomb to get the pinfall.

Nightingale now advances to the semifinals to face Kris Statlander.

AEW Rampage live results: PAC vs. Jay Lethal

For PAC, the match is his first in-ring action since taking part in the casino gauntlet match on the May 29 Dynamite. Lethal took part in the International Championship number one contender’s four-way on the June 5 Dynamite in his last outing.

Women’s World Champion Toni Storm will be in action on the show against Alex Windsor in a non-title bout.

**********

Taped in Des Moines, Iowa.

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone & Matt Menard were on commentary.

“Timeless” Toni Storm (w/ Luther & Mariah may) defeated Alex Windsor (8:05)

Windsor got the jump on Storm before the bell. The crowd chanted for Storm, who caught Windsor with a Thez press to take control. Storm knocked Windsor to the floor with a flying hip attack. Windsor dropped Storm face-first into the ring apron to take control. Windsor dominated on the floor but did little of note. She shoved Luther into May and Storm.

Storm turned things around after the split-screen commercial break. Storm hit a second hip attack in the corner. Storm got a near fall with a fisherman’s suplex. Storm and Windsor exchanged headbutts. Windsor got a near fall with a variation of the Angle Slam. Storm caught Windsor with a small package for two, and Windsor came back with a shining wizard. Windsor went for a pop up whatever, but Storm countered it into the Storm Zero for the pinfall.  Not much of note here, but the crowd was crazy into Storm.

– In the back Harley Cameron mocked the women declaring themselves for the Women’s Owen Hart tournament. She declared that Saraya will win the AEW Women’s World Championship at this year’s All In, just like she did at last year’s All In.

– Thunder Rosa and Deonna Purrazzo hype package for their match on Collision tomorrow night.

Cage of Agony defeated Solomon Tupu, Jay Martson & Jay Guitterez (2:30)

This was a total squash. Cage got the pin on Martson after a triple team slam.

– A great recap of Wednesday’s Dynamite.

Shota Umino defeated Rocky “Azucar” Romero (9:09)

After coming out on top of a brief exchange, Umino did Mercedes Mone’s dance for the crowd. Umino teed off on Romero with forearms. Romero came back with a tope suicidia and Umino hit the back of his head against the broadcast desk.

After the split-screen break, Umino broke up the forever clotheslines with a beautiful dropkick. Umino hit Romero with a DDT on the ring apron. Back in the ring, Umino hit a shotgun dropkick off the top and an exploder suplex for a near fall. Romero came back with a tornado DDT and hit a running sliced bread for a near fall. Romero went for the sliced bread a second time, but Umino countered with a high knee and a neckbreaker for two. Umino caught Romero with an elbow to the back of the neck, then hit the Paradigm Shift for the pinfall. Both guys looked great here.

– Excalibur ran down the lineup for Forbidden Door, tomorrow night’s Collision and next Wednesday’s Dynamite. The only new match announced for any of the shows was Hechicero v. Dalton Castle for Collision.

Satnam Singh (w/ Jay Lethal & Sonjay Dutt) defeated Rosario Grillo (0:20)

Grillo made the mistake of shaking hands with Singh, who refused to release his grip. Singh then yanked Grillo up into a bearhug and shook him into submission.

After the match, Jay Lethal grabbed the mic and predicted he would beat his opponent in even less time.

PAC defeated Jay Lethal (w/ Satnam Singh & Sonjay Dutt) (12:35)

PAC sent Lethal to the floor with a superkick, and followed him out with a no hands plancha. That was 38 seconds in, so Lethal failed at his prediction. Singh yanked PAC out to the floor, but referee Bryce Remsberg caught him and ejected Singh. The damage was done, though, and Lethal whipped PAC into the ringside barricade, then caught him with a dropkick on the floor. Lethal whipped PAC into the steel stairs on the floor.

Lethal dominated during the split-screen break. After the break, Lethal tried for the figure-four leglock, but PAC countered with a small package. Lethal tried for the Lethal Injection, but PAC countered with a dropkick to the stomach. PAC followed up with a series of kicks, then hit a shotgun dropkick off the top for a near fall. Lethal countered a German suplex attempt with an ankle pick, and tried for the figure-four again. Lethal worked over the knee with a dragon screw leg whip, then finally locked in the figure-four.

PAC escaped the figure-four by getting to the ring ropes. Lethal went to the top, and PAC followed him. Lethal tried for a top rope powerbomb, but PAC countered by backdropping Lethal to the mat. PAC set up for the Black Arrow, but Dutt distracted PAC. PAC sent Lethal to the floor with a running boot.

Lethal hit a German suplex. He tried for the Lethal Injection, but PAC dodged it. Lethal caught PAC with a cutter. Lethal went for the Lethal Injection a third time, but PAC dodged it again and caught Lethal with a lariat. PAC locked in the Brutalizer and Lethal tapped out. Very good Rampage main event.

Solid episode of Rampage tonight.

AEW Rampage live results: Penta El Zero Miedo vs. The Butcher

AEW Rampage returns to its usual 10 p.m. Eastern time slot tonight with five matches announced for the card.

Penta El Zero Miedo will face The Butcher in one-on-one action. Penta dropped a TNT title ladder match qualifier to Konosuke Takeshita on last week’s Rampage. The Butcher’s last victory came in December 2023 in Ring of Honor, as he has lost nine in a row in AEW and ROH since.

Before challenging Toni Storm for the Women’s World title at Forbidden Door, Mina Shirakawa will take on Serena Deeb on tonight’s episode.

Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona of Gates of Agony/Cage of Agony will face Private Party’s Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy in tag team action.

The Acclaimed’s Max Caster and Anthony Bowens will take on two enhancement talents in another tag team bout.

In the trios division, Jay White, Austin Gunn, and Colten Gunn of The Bang Bang Gang will be in action in another enhancement match.

**********

Penta El Zero Miedo defeated The Butcher

The show opened with Excalibur, “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard, and Tony Schiavone at the commentary desk and Penta’s entrance, with Butcher already in the ring.

Fans chanted “Zero Miedo” as Butcher and Penta got into a shoving match. Butcher took down Penta after the Zero Miedo taunt. Penta responded with a thrust kick, but Butcher regained the advantage.

Penta avoided a Butcher attack in the corner and hit a running stalling dropkick on him. That got a near fall. Butcher rolled to the outside an avoided a dive attempt by Penta. Butcher ran into Alex Abrahantes on the outside, which gave him an opening to take over in the match.

Butcher hit Penta with a hard clothesline in the corner and continued the attack as we went to a short 90-second picture-in-picture break.

We returned to full-screen action with Butcher attacking Penta’s arm. Penta recovered and hit two consecutive Slingblades on Butcher for the near-fall. Penta climbed up to the top and looked for a splash, but Butcher dodged and got the diving crossbody. Near-fall for Butcher.

Penta connected with a Backstabber in the corner after he avoided a running attack from Butcher. As both men tried to get back up, Butcher made it to his feet first and landed the half-nelson backbreaker. Penta fought back and lifted Butcher for the Fear Factor and the victory.

A decent opener on Rampage. Some parts felt off, but it was still an enjoyable match to kick off the night. Look for Penta to be a favorite for the TNT Championship Ladder Match.

**********

– Chris Jericho made his way to ringside, with Bryan Keith and Big Bill in tow. He approached the commentary table and gave Matt Menard some pointers on commentary, advising him to keep his head up while calling the action before leaving. Menard didn’t seemed too pleased with the advice, and Bryan Keith confronted him before leaving.

The Acclaimed defeated Hunter Grey & Parviz

Anthony Bowens’ pre-match rap riffed on their opponents, as he called them “John Nord wannabes”.

The action quickly broke down as Bowens and Grey were the legal men in the ring. Bowens slammed Grey onto the mat before he climbed to the top rope for the Mic Drop elbow and the easy victory.

Not much really to say about this one. Just a short squash to give the Acclaimed another win on the record as they look set to take on the EVPs, Matthew & Nicholas Jackson for the AEW Tag Titles.

– We went backstage to Shane Taylor Promotions (Anthony Ogogo, Shane Taylor, and Lee Moriarty), who made some remarks towards Top Flight & Action Andretti.

**********

The Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) defeated Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy)

Kaun and Kassidy started off in the match as Kassidy took out Liona on the apron with a guillotine. Quen tagged in as Private Party looked to get the early advantage. Kassidy with the dive to the outside, but Liona ran through him as we went to picture-in-picture.

We returned to action with Kassidy leaping off the top rope with a dive that took both Kaun and Liona on the outside. Kassidy threw Kaun back into the ring and hit a senton atomico for the near-fall.

Quen got tagged in and Private Party’s attempt at a double team was foiled by the sheer strength of Kaun. Gates of Agony sandwiched Quen with a dual lariat, but Kassidy broke up the count.

Liona tried for a corner splash, but Quen avoided it and tagged in Kassidy. Consecutive 450 and Shooting Star splashes by Quen and Kassidy on Liona, but that didn’t get it done.

Kaun and Liona took over and put an end to the match with a modified double team powerbomb on Kassidy.

Fantastic match that helped put both teams over. Private Party’s high-flying offense meshed really well with the more hard-hitting style that Gates of Agony bring to the table.

**********

– A “Picture of a Champion” vignette set the stage for “Timeless” Toni Storm’s match against Lady Frost on tomorrow’s Collision.

Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson, Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn) defeated Caleb Crush, Chris Wilde, and Tyler Payne

The Gunn brothers tagged each other into the match before Robinson got the tag. Robinson went to town on the enhancement talent by himself. Corner cannonball, followed by The Juice is Loose by Robinson got the win for the Bang Bang Gang.

Post-match, Jay White took the mic and boasted about how the Bang Bang Gang was now back at full strength. White talked about how Juice Robinson’s return gave him an idea, he officially named Robinson as “one corner” of the unified AEW Trios Champions, as he and the Gunns placed all their belts on Robinson. And if we weren’t down with that, they had two words for us: “Guns Up”.

It’s wonderful to see Juice Robinson back as part of the Bang Bang Gang. He just brings an unreal energy to the group that was sorely missed.

**********

Mina Shirakawa defeated Serena Deeb

Shirakawa got the crowd to chant for her to start the match before she locked up with Deeb in the middle of the ring. Deeb got the better of Shirakawa in the lockup before she applied the Paradise Lock on her. Deeb followed that up with a dropkick to the back of the prone Shirakawa.

Shirakawa fought back and began to work on Deeb’s leg with repeated elbow drops. Deeb caught Shirakawa with a kick in the corner, as she then dropped her across the middle rope to gain control of the match as it headed into picture-in-picture.

Rampage’s main event continued with Deeb in control, right up until Shirakawa hit a kick to the head of Deeb. In the middle of the ring, Deeb and Shirakawa exchanged blow after blow before Shirakawa got a hard elbow strike to stun Deeb.

Shirakawa with the enzuigiri and a falling neckbreaker helped keep things in hand for her. From the top rope, Shirakawa drove her knee right into the head and shoulder of Deeb for the near-fall.

Standing switch exchange between Deeb and Shirakawa ended with Deeb flooring her foe with a German suplex and a vicious haymaker, but that only got a two-count.

Deeb’s attempt at the Deeb-tox countered into a rollup pin by Shirakawa. The Stardom star followed that up with a figure-four in the middle of the ring on Deeb. Both women began to strike each other with blows as Deeb managed to roll out of the ring to escape Shirakawa’s hold.

Deeb hit a dragon screw on Shirakawa’s hurt leg, followed by a powerbomb. As Shirakawa kicked out, Deeb trapped her into a stretch muffler. Shirakawa countered that into a pinfall attempt. Deeb tried again for the Deeb-tox, but Shirakawa reversed that into her own finishing move for the one, two, three and the win.

Mariah May ran down to the ring after the match and celebrated with Shirakawa as “Timeless” Toni Storm appeared on the ramp. Storm marched down to the ring as May tried to broker some sort of a truce between Storm and Shirakawa. The handshake is accepted begrudgingly as both Storm and Shirakawa parted the ropes for May to leave. Rampage went off the air with Storm and Shirakawa both trying to head up the ramp with May.

I enjoyed this main event. As a primer on Mina Shirakawa for those who aren’t well-versed in Stardom wrestling, it did its purpose to put her over as a credible threat to Toni Storm’s AEW Womens’ World Championship. I thought Deeb played her part well in this match and was able to give Shirakawa a good fight for Rampage’s main event. The post-match action with May, Shirakawa, and Storm continues what’s been an interesting storyline between the three and whatever happens at Forbidden Door should be one to watch, especially as it relates to the greater story of May’s All About Eve-inspired story with Storm.

All in all, nothing too groundbreaking on tonight’s edition of Rampage, but as always, the hour goes by so fast and things manage to stay entertaining enough that nothing really overstays its welcome. The Shirakawa vs. Deeb main event match is worth seeking out.

**********

Excalibur and Tony Schiavone were on the call for tonight’s Rampage.

TNT Ladder Match Qualifier: Konosuke Takeshita def. Penta El Zero Miedo

We kicked off with both men already in the ring. Fast dodging action between Takeshita and Penta to start off, ending in a stalemate. Takeshita tried to go for the mask of Penta, but the referee stopped him. Running boot to Penta by Takeshita.

Takeshita sent to the outside, as Penta tried to go for a dive. Takeshita got out of the way and blocked a running boot as he then slammed Penta onto the apron. Takeshita continued to work over Penta with a resthold, followed by repeated knees to the gut. Cover by Takeshita only got a two-count.

The action turned to Picture in Picture with Takeshita in control of the match.

Back on full-screen action as Penta tried to create some momentum. He had Takeshita trapped on the top rope, but Takeshita countered for a fireman’s carry attempt. Penta reversed that into a top rope Frankensteiner as he now had the advantage. Penta soared over the top rope with a dive onto Takeshita outside the ring.

Takeshita avoided a top rope stomp as he then rolled Penta through for a deadlift wheelbarrow German suplex. Penta answered right back with Made in Japan, but that got a very close near-fall. He stomped on Takeshita and tried to go for the arm break. Takeshita fought out and knocked Penta down with a fierce lariat.

On the apron, Penta leapt from the turnbuckle and hit a Canadian Destroyer right on the apron that momentarily stunned Takeshita. Penta had Takeshita right where he wanted him, but he got flattened by a Blue Thunder Bomb.

Takeshita crushed Penta with a powerful punch before he finished things off with the Power Drive Knee to qualify for the Forbidden Door TNT Championship Ladder Match.

Fantastic opener for Rampage featuring two great talents in AEW. Takeshita as part of the TNT Ladder Match is a wise addition and it’ll be interesting to see who fills out the rest of the match. Jack Perry will certainly be another name who’ll be in this match at Forbidden Door.

– We got a recap of last Friday’s Rampage, when HOOK attacked Chris Jericho at the commentary table. Backstage, Jericho was with Big Bill and Bryan Keith, as he addressed HOOK’s attack. He said that he was stepping down from his commentator role on Rampage to focus on being a part of Collision and Dynamite. Back on commentary, “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard took Jericho’s place.

**********

– Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett talked about the Undisputed Kingdom’s failures at Double or Nothing. Strong complained that he was supposed to be in the Casino Battle Royal on Dynamite, stating that he was coming after Lio Rush for taking his spot. The match was then made: Rush vs. Strong for tomorrow’s Collision.

Satnam Singh def. Peter Avalon

Avalon looked terrified to face Singh at the start of the match, as he approached slowly. Singh offered Avalon a free pin, but did a very powerful kickout. From there, Singh choked Avalon and slammed him to the mat repeatedly. Bearhug by Singh brought a quick end to this squash.

Just a fun, short squash to showcase Singh.

– Cage of Agony spoke backstage, offering a challenge to all comers on tomorrow’s Collision. Hechicero appeared with the group, appearing to join forces with them.

**********

AEW Women’s Championship Eliminator: “Timeless” Toni Storm vs. Viva Van

Storm and Van started by locking up in the middle of the ring before Van tried to apply the jujikitami to no avail. Storm took advantage by sending Van to the outside with a running hip strike as we took a Picture-in-Picture break.

The action continued with Storm and Van exchanging strikes before Storm got the better of her opponent. Van’s attempt at taking advantage was stopped cold by a rope-assisted backstabber, followed by the fisherman’s suplex.

Van surprised Storm with a two-footed kick to the face, then an axe kick. That got a near-fall. Van was looking for some sort of maneuver, but Storm fought out of it as she sent Van into the corner. Running hip attack, then the Storm Zero got the win for the Timeless One.

A nice little match and I thought Viva Van got a good showing even in defeat. Look for more of her to come in the future.

**********

– Saraya and Harley Cameron had remarks for Mariah May ahead of Saraya’s match against May on next week’s Dynamite.

Kyle O’Reilly def. Jordan Cruz

O’Reilly started off strong with a running knee to the corner, as he continued on the offensive against Cruz. O’Reilly targeted Cruz’s arm with repeated strikes and a hammerlock.

Cruz momentarily had the advantage, but O’Reilly took over with mounted strikes, then bringing an end to the match with a jujikitame arm submission.

O’Reilly looked good in this quick squash ahead of his International Championship Match against Will Ospreay on Collision. His strikes just have that oomph to it and it’s always a joy to see him really lay into those attacks of his.

– Johnny TV and Taya Valkyrie were backstage, as he issued a challenge to Claudio Castagnoli for tomorrow’s Collision.

**********

Rey Fenix vs. Isiah Kassidy

Kassidy and Fenix showed each other respect to start off the match. The commentators talked about MJF’s return on next week’s Dynamite as things started off. Fenix floored Kassidy with a nice dropkick, as he continued the onslaught.

Kassidy responded with a springboard hurricanrana, but Fenix remained on his feet. Fenix ran at a full head of speed and did a nice feint dodge between the ropes. Kassidy with another hurricanrana, but Fenix answered right back with a German suplex. We went to Picture-in-Picture at this point.

Rampage returned with Kassidy and Fenix continuing to hit each other with their best strikes. Fenix intercepted an attempted Kassidy springboard attack from the middle rope with a springboard hurricanrana for the near fall.

Fenix had Kassidy in his sights, but Kassidy countered with an enzuigiri to take advantage. With Fenix on the outside, Kassidy took flight and took him down with a flying dive over the top rope. Tornado DDT by Kassidy got a close two-count.

Kassidy landed the Canadian Destroyer on Fenix, but again only a two count. Senton missed by Kassidy as Fenix took advantage and soared with the frog splash. One, two… a very dramatic kickout by Kassidy.

Fenix ran across the ropes to hit an impressive diving kick on Kassidy. He then set up Kassidy for a big double underhook driver for the one, two, three and the victory.

Fantastic main event between Fenix and Kassidy to cap off a very breezy and entertaining hour of action on Rampage. It’s great to see Fenix back in action in AEW after a long break for injury, and I enjoy seeing Isiah Kassidy get a chance to show up and show out as a singles competitor. Would love to see more of that.

Taped in Bakersfield, California.

Excalibur, Chris Jericho, Tony Schiavone and Big Bill were on commentary.

After a split-screen break, Romeo caught PAC with a back heel kick and sliced bread for a near fall. Romero countered a suplex attempt with a back slide for anear fall. On commentary, Jericho clarified that Big Bill’s new name is “Redwood.” Romeo drilled PAC with a tornado DDT (beautiful selling from PAC) and hit a pescado for a near fall. PAC escaped a Sliced Bread #2, hit a boot and dropped Romero with a German suplex. And just like that, PAC locked in the Brutalizer and Romero tapped out.

Rush defeated Isiah Kassidy (7:57 aired)

Rush hit the shotgun dropkick right away. He could have pinned Kassidy, but instead kicked him to the floor and whipped him into the steel barricades around ringside. Rick Knox did his usual bang-up job of enforcing the rules, allowing Rush to whip Kassidy and choke him with a power cable. Rush continued to dominate Kassidy during the split-screen break.

After the commercial break, Kassidy got some offense in and hit some kind of neckbreaker for a near fall. Kassidy hit a senton for another near fall, and Rush cut off the comeback with a headbutt. They took the fight to the ring apron and exchanged chops until Rush caught Cassidy with a belly to belly suplex that sent him to the floor.

Back in the ring, Rush hit the diving shotgun dropkick for the pinfall. Rush barely gave Kassidy anything.

– Arkady Aura interviewed the Gates of Agony and Brian Cage. Cage cut a pretty good promo for his trio. Seemed like it might be setting up something with them and The Acclaimed for a six man match.

Willow Nightingale & Kris Statlander (w/ Stokley Hathaway) defeated Anna Jay & Alex Windsor (9:23)

Windsor is a top star for Rev Pro. Anna Jay’s gear looked patriotic (for Memorial Day weekend, I guess). Nightingale caught Windsor with a pounce early. Anna Jay got the tag and Statlander dropped her with a back suplex. Jay caught Statlander with a neckbreaker in the ropes. The fight went to the floor, where Jay sent Statlander into the ring steps.

After a split-screen break, Windsor controlled Statlander with a cravat. Statlander got the hot tag to Nightingale, who caught Jay with a shotgun dropkick off the middle rope. Nightingale missed the cannonball in the corner, and Windsor caught her with a Shining Wizard for a near fall. Nightingale caught Windsor with a stiff clothesline, then finished her off with the gutwrench powerbomb for the pinfall.

Nightingale’s celebration was cut short by Mercedes Mone who kicked off her shoes and ran to the rign to brawl with Nightingale and Statlander. Mone tried to hit her new finisher (called the Mone Maker) which looked ridiculous for her to try on Statlander who was so much bigger than her. Eventually the gaggle of officials came out to break up the right. Mone celebrated in the ring with the TBS title.

For Collision tomorrow night, FTR and Bryan Danielson will take on Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal and Satnam Singh.
