Report: SmackDown champion expected to appear on Monday’s WWE Raw

A SmackDown champion is anticipated to make an appearance on Raw tonight following last week’s events.

According to PWInsiderElite.com, Jade Cargill is slated to make an appearance on the upcoming episode of Raw.

Cargill will defend the WWE Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 42. Additionally, her newly formed alliance with Michin and B-Fab altered the powerplay in her favor.

On the April 3 edition of SmackDown, Ripley faced Michin in a singles bout. That came to an abrupt halt with B-Fab and Cargill’s attack on her. While Cargill was setting Ripley up to hit her signature Jaded move, IYO Sky rushed to the ring to assist her former tag team partner.

After Ripley’s Elimination Chamber win, targeting Cargill’s title for WrestleMania 42 she switched brands from Raw to SmackDown. WrestleMania 42 marks Ripley’s seventh consecutive match at the Premium Live Event and Cargill’s first.

Meanwhile, Sky is involved in a feud with The Kabuki Warriors on Raw. There is a new threat on the horizon after she cost Raquel Rodriguez her match against Stephanie Vaquer on the March 16 edition of Raw. This led to a singles match between Sky and Rodriguez on the March 23 episode.

Updated WWE SmackDown preview for April 3

Update —

WWE has announced that Rhea Ripley vs. Michin will take place on SmackDown tonight, with Ripley looking to get revenge after recent attacks by Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab. Ripley is challenging Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania.

Plus, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss will take on Bayley & Lyra Valkyria.

New United States Champion Sami Zayn will be on SmackDown tonight one week after his title win.

WWE has announced that we’ll hear from Zayn on tonight’s show. He regained the United States Championship from Carmelo Hayes last Friday and is now headed toward a title defense against Trick Williams at WrestleMania 42.

Over the past week, there’s been some backlash on social media with fans unhappy over Hayes dropping the U.S. title and not being factored into WWE’s WrestleMania plans. We’ll see how WWE handles that tonight, and we’ll find out if Zayn plans to continue the United States title open challenge series that he instituted during his August-October 2025 title reign. Ilja Dragunov and Hayes continued that tradition during their respective U.S. title runs.

Williams appeared on the Mornings with Mero radio show this week and said he believes Hayes “deserves” a WrestleMania moment and hopes that Hayes ends up getting one.

Counting tonight, there are only three SmackDown episodes left before WrestleMania. The Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri is hosting tonight’s show.

WWE SmackDown (Friday, April 3) —

  • Cody Rhodes looks to spoil Randy Orton’s homecoming
  • Rhea Ripley vs. Michin
  • Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley & Lyra Valkyria
  • We’ll hear from Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu
  • We’ll hear from new United States Champion Sami Zayn

Trick Williams details how white coat became his signature WWE attire

Trick Williams’ white coat and white shoes he calls ‘lemon pepper steppers’ have become an integral part of his WWE appearance.

Speaking with Stephen A. Smith on ESPN, Williams revealed how the white mink coat became a significant part of his WWE look. He wore it for his SmackDown debut and a week later for his next appearance when he was spotted backstage without it, Triple H, Bruce Prichard and Michael Hayes questioned its absence which made him realize how it had become synonymous with his style.

“When I debuted on SmackDown, I put on this white mink coat, and I stepped out and I wanted to make a point to everybody. And it was widely accepted, I interrupted Sami Zayn and he’s hated me ever since.”

“The next Friday, I put on a new fit, and Triple H told me, he said, ‘Where’s your coat?’ I was thinking to myself, ‘It ain’t MY coat, it’s A coat.’ And I let that slide. Then Bruce Prichard, he comes over and says, ‘Where’s your coat?’ I’m like, ‘Oh, alright.’”

“Then Michael Hayes, ‘Where’s your coat?’ Oh, I get it now. He said, ‘I ain’t never seen Elvis Presley without his coat.’ “I was like, ‘I got it. This is my coat.’”

“Then, I called myself the ‘Anointed One,’ so how more fitting is it for Trick Williams to wear all white every single time you see him.”

Williams made his main roster debut on the January 2 edition of SmackDown and confronted Sami Zyan. Their back-and-forth continued over the next few months as they confronted each other backstage with verbal taunts and physical altercations.

Last week, Zayn captured the United States Title from Carmelo Hayes. And shortly after Nick Aldis informed him that he will defend the title against Williams at WrestleMania 42. This marks his first match at the Premium Live Event.

Giulia was ‘banged up’ after WWE SmackDown match

Women’s United States Champion Giulia was banged up after competing on WWE SmackDown last Friday.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Matthew Ennis, Giulia’s trainer, stated that Giulia was in a lot of pain after facing Tiffany Stratton on SmackDown last Friday. They had to switch things up in the gym rather than sticking with the plan they originally had, which allowed Giulia to feel better after the session and get her to the point where they could push harder the next day.

It should be noted that Ennis did not mention any specific injury that would impact Giulia going forward.

“Giulia came into her session today very banged up from her [match] last Friday on SmackDown,” he said. “Normally, this would be our full lower body day, but today was not a good day for that because she was in so much pain. Low back pain, knee pain, hip pain, shoulders, you name it.

“So instead of sticking to a rigid plan, we adapted today on the fly, and the goal is just simply to have her walk out of the gym feeling better. Thankfully, through a full body, activation, mobility, stretching circuit, we were able to achieve that goal.

“And now we’ll be more prepared to push harder tomorrow, and that’s a big thing for pro wrestlers — depending on how your body feels, you may need to adjust the workout for the day.”

Giulia and Stratton faced off in a non-title bout on the March 27 edition of SmackDown. A slight distraction from Kiana James helped Giulia pick up the win, with Giulia getting her knees up on a moonsault attempt by Stratton and then cradling her for the pin.

Whether Giulia and Stratton’s feud will continue into WrestleMania 42 remains to be seen. During a recent interview with The Schmo, Stratton addressed rumors of a potential WrestleMania match between her and Giulia.

“Yeah, I have heard those rumors, too, and I feel like they’re just rumors because I haven’t really been told anything that I’m on WrestleMania,” Stratton said. “But we’ll have to wait and see. I hope there’s a championship involved.”

WOL: WWE SmackDown underdelivers on the way to WrestleMania

It’s the Sunday Wrestling Observer Live with Andrew Zarian.

This past Friday’s WWE SmackDown might have been one of the more disappointing shows on the road to WrestleMania so far. He discussed the show and the disappointing parts outside the main event, built around Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton, which has been good, but there’s too much repetition throughout the rest of the show.

He also previewed this week’s WWE Raw which takes place at Madison Square Garden, and discussed whether they are doing too much of the same thing when it comes to the build to the main event between Roman Reigns and CM Punk.

Saturday’s AEW Collision saw a great main event between Kevin Knight and Kazuchika Okada in which Knight had a great showing despite the loss.

Also, the whodunnit storyline continues as AEW was forced to pivot after Toni Storm’s surprise absence. Is this leading to a Mina Shirakawa title run in the future?

Plus, WrestleMania ticket sales, the Intercontinental title in AAA, and American Gladiators’ names revealed.

Trick Williams invites Lil Yachty to next WWE SmackDown

Former NXT Champion Trick Williams has invited Lil Yachty to the next edition of WWE SmackDown.

Earlier this week, fans witnessed Sami Zayn defeat Carmelo Hayes to become the new United States Champion. In a feud with Williams, Zayn then proceeded to book himself in a title match against Williams at WWE WrestleMania 42.

Ahead of his WrestleMania match, Williams has now invited rapper Lil Yachty to attend next week’s SmackDown in St. Louis on April 3rd, 2026.

So after last night, I’ve been in deep contemplation about what’s going on around here. How in the world did The Gingerbread Man walk out with the United States Championship last night?” Williams asked.

So this is what we about to do about it. We about to change up the whole dynamic. I wanna personally invite my boy, I’m talking about my day one, a long time back, my HBCU brother Lil Yachty, I need for you to pull up to SmackDown this week,” he added.

We in St. Louis, I need for you to pull up, spice things up, talk to these folks, man. Let them know what’s going on around here. The games are done, grown folk talking. Pull up on me, dog, let’s talk about it.”

Lil Yachty has become a familiar presence at WWE events in recent years, and with WWE’s love for adding celebrities to WrestleManias, fans can expect Lil Yachty to become a part of it this year alongside the heavily rumored Tom Brady WrestleMania appearance.

Next week, on April 4th, NXT is also set to host Stand & Deliver, where rapper Sexxy Red is scheduled for an appearance.

WOL: Did Danhausen put a curse on SmackDown?

It’s the Saturday Wrestling Observer Live with Jim Valley.

It’s WrestleMania season, the build to the biggest show of the year. So why isn’t WWE acting like it? Lackluster promos, subpar wrestling and mediocre comedy. It’s like Danhausen put a curse on SmackDown, too.

Plus, there’s good news for Steve Maclin, TNA Sacrifice, MLP & ROH Global Wars, a new TV show and, in kayfabe, why is Jelly Roll just hanging around Smackdown offering words of inspiration? Is he lonely? A WWE life coach? Going to leave music and write Hallmark cards? Hoping The Vision will notice?

A fun show. Check it out.

Updated WWE SmackDown preview for March 27

WWE has made a couple of new announcements — and an apparent adjustment to the card — for this week’s episode of SmackDown.

– SmackDown is taking place from PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh this Friday night. WWE has announced that Randy Orton will appear on the show, with the company teasing that Orton will be looking for a new target after his recent attacks on Cody Rhodes and Matt Cardona. Orton is now just a few weeks away from challenging Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42.

WWE.com wrote:

  • Just one week after savagely attacking his former friend and brother, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton unleashed another vicious assault on Matt Cardona. Which Superstar will The Legend Killer ambush next?
  • Don’t miss all the action of SmackDown, Friday at 8 ET/7 CT on USA.

– Though not official yet, a match between Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre is expected to be added to the WrestleMania card soon. The build to that will continue on SmackDown with general manager Nick Aldis addressing the status of both wrestlers after last week’s show-closing angle where Fatu and McIntyre crashed off of a ledge while brawling.

– It was initially announced that Tiffany Stratton would challenge Giulia for the Women’s United States Championship on SmackDown. That looks to have changed with WWE.com now advertising Giulia vs. Stratton as a “non-title showdown.”

Here is the full preview for the show:

WWE SmackDown (Friday, March 27) —

  • Who will Randy Orton attack next?
  • Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. The Bella Twins
  • Nick Aldis gives an update on the condition of Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre
  • Jelly Roll vs. Kit Wilson
  • Non-title match: Women’s United States Champion Giulia vs. Tiffany Stratton

Cody Rhodes supports Matt Cardona’s pursuit of WWE World title dream

Cody Rhodes is rooting for Matt Cardona to accomplish a longstanding goal of winning a WWE or World Championship someday.

Rhodes was quick to point out Cardona’s ambition of winning the WWE Championship during their interaction in the latest episode of his ‘What do you wanna talk about? Podcast’. He voiced his support for Cardona to eventually capture the WWE or World Title and said he would hold him to that dream becoming reality.

“There’s something you brought up and I didn’t want to be mushy, if that’s the word, I didn’t want to be emotional but you brought up something. You said you came back to be WWE Champion and like I think it’s okay we got the cameras here to tell you, I hope that happens but also as your friend I’d like to hold you to it cause you were very much of a ‘hold me to it’, and you were a very celebratory person in terms of, I would do something and I knew it was ‘this is big’. I’d go ‘I just beat Brock Lesnar in Puerto Rico’ like ‘this is big.’ And I remember you telling me, you’re always just there for it. So, I’d hope to hold you to it and I hope that happens – a World Championship,  WWE Championship or World Championship or within WWE, I think the flagship of these shows.”

Later in the interview, Rhodes asked Cardona stars he would consider essential for a dream team.

“If we do let’s say five people, I’ll pick Chelsea Green, need that No. 1. You know, I’ll throw you in there, Cody, you know you can politick for me. Hey, we have the TNA partnership now I’ll say Brian Myers, somebody whose known me since day one. From NYWC to winning tag team titles to podcasts – Major Wrestling Figure Podcast, collectmajor.com, lower third. Let me get, since we also have the TNA partnership, Nic Nemeth, the wanted man. And I can’t believe I’m saying this but ‘Awesome’ The Miz. The Miz can do it all. He’s always there when I need to pick his brain about something.”

“If I had to throw in a little bonus – Kit Wilson I would say in like 2011, 2012, the core would’ve been me, Miz, (John) Morrison, (Dolph) Ziggler and Kit.”

Cardona returned to WWE last year on the NXT brand, five years after being released by the company. He lost to Josh Briggs amidst NXT and TNA’s invasion storyline. In November, he was a competitor in John Cena’s Last Time Is Now Tournament on SmackDown.

Last week on SmackDown, he confronted Randy Orton backstage. His attempt to reason with Randy Orton for his actions against Rhodes at the contract signing the week prior ended disastrously for Cardona. Orton called him out to the ring under the pretense of an apology only to attack him instead.

Lash Legend gets more nervous for Trick Williams’ WWE matches than her own

Lash Legend loves watching her fiance Trick Williams succeed in WWE — even if she gets more nervous for his matches than her own.

During an interview with Esteban Ramirez, Legend expressed how proud she is of Williams in leveling up from NXT to SmackDown. They are both now members of WWE’s blue brand. The couple announced their engagement in November last year, which was around the same time Legend was moved to the main roster.

“It feels so good. Honestly — and I tell him this all the time — I’ll be more nervous to watch him than for me to go out there,” Legend said. “I’m pretty chill, I usually don’t get too anxious with things, I’ll just be excited more than anything and ready to do it. But I feel like with him, I’m actually like ‘Oh my gosh.’ It’s because it’s a different type of excitement when you see somebody that you really care about, and you know somebody who’s been working their butt off his whole life.

“I feel like everything that he is doing, and the opportunities that he is getting right now, he has prepared for his entire life. It’s really crazy to see, just all the work you put in and finally reaping those benefits. It’s a beautiful thing to see, and I’m just glad I get to support him and be by his side and just cheer him on and give him his flowers.”

Legend made her NXT debut in 2020 after an accomplished college career in basketball and brief stint in the WNBA. She has formed a tag team with former rival Nia Jax on SmackDown, with the two currently holding the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
