New stipulation set for Edge vs. AJ Styles at WWE WrestleMania Backlash

A new stipulation has been added to the Edge vs. AJ Styles match set for WrestleMania Backlash this Sunday.

AJ Styles faced Damian Priest on tonight’s episode of Raw, where if Styles won, Priest would be barred from ringside for Styles’ upcoming match against Edge on Sunday. Styles won the match after an Edge distraction failed, instead rolling up Priest for the victory.

After the match, Edge immediately attacked Styles as Priest recovered. The two were about to give the con-chair-to to Styles when Finn Balor hit the ring and attacked both Edge and Priest, sending them out of the ring.

Edge defeated Styles at WrestleMania 38 after Styles was distracted by Priest, who appeared at ringside. In the weeks after WrestleMania, Edge and Priest have formed a new stable called Judgement Day.

Here is the card for WrestleMania Backlash:

  • Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey in an I Quit match for the SmackDown Women’s title
  • Omos vs. Bobby Lashley
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins
  • Drew McIntyre and RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) vs. Roman Reigns and The Usos
  • AJ Styles vs. Edge (Damian Priest banned from ringside)
  • Happy Corbin vs. Madcap Moss

Title unification match for WWE WrestleMania Backlash now six-man tag

A match originally set to unify the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team titles at WWE WrestleMania Backlash has now been changed to a six-man tag match.

After Drew McIntyre aided RK-Bro in laying out Roman Reigns and The Usos on tonight’s SmackDown, Paul Heyman confronted official Adam Pearce backstage and asked for a six-man tag team match at WrestleMania Backlash. Pearce rejected the idea, saying there was already a tag team title unification match. Heyman threatened to go to the WWE Board of Directors if he didn’t comply. The new match was later made official.

Tonight’s show had a contract signing between The Usos and RK-Bro for WrestleMania Backlash. The two teams soon began to brawl, with Roman Reigns coming out soon after. The distraction allowed The Usos to lay out RK-Bro. Reigns entered the ring, ripped up the contract for the title unification match and stuffed it down Riddle’s throat. McIntyre then came out and took out all three members of The Bloodline.

Here is the current lineup for WrestleMania Backlash, which will take place on May 8:

  • Drew McIntyre & RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) vs. Roman Reigns & The Usos in a six-man tag team match
  • AJ Styles vs. Edge
  • Omos vs. Bobby Lashley
  • Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey in an I Quit match for the SmackDown Women’s title
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins
  • Happy Corbin vs. Madcap Moss

Bobby Lashley vs. Omos rematch set for WWE WrestleMania Backlash

Omos has issued a challenge to Bobby Lashley for a rematch at WrestleMania Backlash next month.

During tonight’s Raw, MVP told Lashley that the arm wrestling match tonight wasn’t about brawn, but brain, and Lashley being laid out proved tonight that Lashley was nothing without MVP. Omos then issued a challenge for WrestleMania Backlash on May 8.

The two previously met at WrestleMania 38, with Lashley defeating Omos. The following night on Raw, MVP turned against longtime associate Lashley and aligned himself with Omos.

Earlier in the show, Lashley and Omos competed in an arm wrestling challenge. Lashley won the contest, but a distraction by MVP allowed Omos to attack Lashley with the table, leaving he and MVP standing tall.

Here is the card so far for WrestleMania Backlash, which will take place at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island:

  • Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey in an I Quit match for the SmackDown Women’s title
  • Omos vs. Bobby Lashley
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins
  • RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) vs. The Usos for the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team titles
  • AJ Styles vs. Edge
  • Happy Corbin vs. Madcap Moss

Edge vs. AJ Styles set for WWE WrestleMania Backlash

Edge and AJ Styles will meet again at WrestleMania Backlash next month.

During tonight’s Raw, Edge issued a challenge to AJ Styles for WrestleMania Backlash on May 8, saying he was going to be the one to put the stake into Styles’ heart. After the return from commercial, Styles accepted the challenge before the lights flickered. Styles and Damien Priest then appeared and attacked Styles before walking away.

The two previously met at WrestleMania 38. The finish of their match had Priest distracting Styles as he was going for his finish, allowing Edge to cut off Styles and pin him to win the match. Priest has since fully aligned himself with Edge.

Here is the current lineup for WrestleMania Backlash, which will take place at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island:

  • Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in an I Quit match
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins
  • RK-Bro vs. The Usos in a winner take all match for both the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team titles
  • AJ Styles vs. Edge

Tag Team title unification match set for WWE WrestleMania Backlash

RK-Bro and The Usos will square off at WrestleMania Backlash to unify WWE’s Tag Team titles.

Raw Tag Team Champions Randy Orton and Riddle will face SmackDown Tag Team Champions Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso at the Sunday, May 8 WrestleMania Backlash premium live event streaming on Peacock in the United States, and on WWE Network in the rest of the world.

The WWE Championship and Universal Championship were unified at WrestleMania 38 when Universal title holder Roman Reigns defeated WWE title holder Brock Lesnar.

Three matches have officially been announced for WrestleMania Backlash, which will be held in Providence, Rhode Island at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Here is the announced lineup so far:

WWE WrestleMania Backlash, Sunday, May 8 —

  • Tag Team Championship unification match: Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro vs. SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos

Brock Lesnar pulled from WWE WrestleMania Backlash

Former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar will not be on May’s WrestleMania Backlash in Providence, Rhode Island.

First noted by Wrestling Headlines Wednesday, Lesnar was originally on advertising for the show on WWE’s website but that is no longer the case.

Dave Meltzer confirmed, saying that Lesnar was “definitely booked” for the show in addition to Money in the Bank in Las Vegas, Nevada, and SummerSlam in Nashville, Tennessee, but that he is off Backlash. No reason was given as to why.

Lesnar hasn’t been seen on TV since losing the WWE title to Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a title unification bout at WrestleMania 38 earlier this month.

Reigns appears slated for a feud with Shinsuke Nakamura based on last Friday’s SmackDown when he came out at the end of the show and was beaten up by Reigns and The Usos.

The Backlash card has started to take shape in recent days with SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defending against Ronda Rousey in an “I Quit” match; Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair defending against Sonya Deville, and a Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins rematch.
