Bronson Reed injury update: Could miss WWE WrestleMania 41

Bronson Reed’s injury could keep him out of action through WrestleMania season.

At Survivor Series on November 30, Reed was injured during the men’s WarGames match while going for a Tsunami off the top of the cage and landing feet-first on the way down. WWE has announced that Reed suffered a broken foot and will be out of action indefinitely.

Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Radio last night that they’ve heard Reed is not expected back in time for WrestleMania 41.

“Bronson Reed is having foot surgery. He’s going to be out for months, yeah, a long time,” Meltzer said. “I was told, after you [Alvarez] had messaged me that, I asked somebody there and they said that he’s not expected to be back for WrestleMania. It’s expected to be a long time.”

WrestleMania 41 is being held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Reed was a member of the New Bloodline team at Survivor Series, viewing himself as a mercenary rather than permanently aligning with Solo Sikoa’s group. They lost to Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn & CM Punk in WarGames. The spot where Reed got hurt was a key story moment in the match. He was attempting to splash Reigns through a table, but Punk moved Reigns out of the way. Punk earned Reigns’ trust by saving him and the two were able to get on the same page.

Despite his injury, Reed tweeted that his spirit remains unbreakable.

The Rock might not compete at WWE WrestleMania 41

The Rock’s acting schedule could potentially keep him off the WWE WrestleMania 41 card.

At Bad Blood last weekend, The Rock returned to WWE for the first time since the aftermath of WrestleMania 40. He made a surprise appearance at the end of the PLE after Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes teamed together to defeat The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu.

It’s been speculated that The Rock could face Rhodes or Reigns — or both of them in a triple threat match — at WrestleMania 41. But Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that, at least as of right now, The Rock is not scheduled for WrestleMania:

  • However, as of right now, Dwayne Johnson is not scheduled for the show. Obviously that could change and he’s going to do what he wants all the time. While nobody can say it publicly, some with old school mentalities didn’t like the idea that he stole the show and it‘s not building to a match. ‘He’s not going to be able to do Mania. He already gave word that he wouldn’t be able to do that match’ [a source said] when asked bout Rock vs. Reigns vs. Rhodes. Rock came out with the People’s belt that the widow of Muhammad Ali gave him at the Hall of Fame. There was no specific reason given past we were told that different reasons were given to different people. What we do know is that Dwayne Johnson when it comes to this is either going to be all in, meaning a full training camp to get into the best wrestling and cosmetic shape he can get in, or not in. ‘The story is simply his schedule got too heavy, he couldn’t commit to doing it right.

Though The Rock may not be scheduled for WrestleMania right now, Meltzer noted that it’s only October and there is still time for him to change his mind:

  • Ultimately it’s October and he would probably have until just before the Royal Rumble if he were to change his mind, and really he probably could even change his mind after that but it would throw everything into chaos as they have to have Mania plans when formatting the Rumble. If he was to change his mind, ultimately he would decide who he wants to face and the only thing that would get a pushback was if he wanted to win the WWE title, in which case it’s hard to say what would or wouldn’t prevail, but that’s not an issue at all right now. Johnson’s schedule has always been a factor because of the amount of preparation time he feels he needs to do what he wants to be able to do. It is why the original plan for him to face Reigns didn’t happen in Los Angeles in 2023 after it had been talked about for years.
  • Another person who would be intricately involved in the top of the card program said that he had no idea about anything. These things are largely kept secret from the talent because as noted last year, the plan for Rock vs. Reigns to headline WrestleMania was being negotiated through December and agreed to in early January. However, Rhodes had been told he was facing Reigns in the main event for months. From talent close to him they believed he was officially first told around October. He was not told differently until the day of the Rumble when he was told he was winning the Rumble, but not facing Reigns at WrestleMania and to not tell anyone and go out and act like he was. Almost nobody knew what the plan was until the angle was shot on the following Smackdown and the reaction online to that angle led to Rhodes vs. Reigns happening.

In the main event of WrestleMania 40 night one this April, The Rock returned for his first real WWE match in more than a decade. He pinned Rhodes in a tag team match on night one. Rhodes then won the Undisputed WWE Championship from Reigns on night two.

WrestleMania 41 is taking place from Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, 2025.

WWE reveals WrestleMania 41 ticket on-sale date

The ticket on-sale date for WWE WrestleMania 41 is just over one month away.

WWE revealed today that WrestleMania 41 tickets are going on sale to the general public starting at 1 p.m. Eastern time on Friday, October 25. The two-night event is being held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, 2025. Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster.

The ticket pre-sale begins on Wednesday, October 23. For those interested in pre-sale access, WWE has a mailing list to receive information.

WrestleMania has traditionally been held in early April, but WWE is moving the event back a couple of weeks next year. It will no longer take place on the same weekend as the Final Four of the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament.

This is the first time Las Vegas has hosted WrestleMania since 1993, when WrestleMania IX was held at Caesars Palace. Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), Los Angeles (California), Arlington (Texas), and Tampa (Florida) have been WrestleMania host cities in recent years.

WWE Raw, SmackDown, NXT Stand & Deliver, WWE World (a fan event with Fanatics), and the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will also take place in Las Vegas surrounding WrestleMania 41.

Steve Austin ‘happy to’ make WWE WrestleMania 41 appearance if idea makes sense

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin would be happy to appear at WrestleMania 41 if WWE has an idea for him that makes sense.

Reiterating comments that he’s made previously, Austin told Fox News Digital that — with the event taking place in Nevada — he’s open to appearing at WrestleMania 41. Austin lives on a ranch that’s located south of Reno. Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is hosting WrestleMania 41 on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, 2025.

“I do spend several trips a year in Las Vegas, so, to think that WWE’s biggest signature pay-per-view event is 400 miles away, in a state that I live in, that I’m going to be there, make a couple of appearances, I’ll be promoting my beer if they, WWE, reached out and said, ‘Hey, maybe you want to do something,’ I’d be happy to do it as long as it makes sense,” Austin told Fox News Digital.

If Austin does appear, it would be his first time being involved with WrestleMania since coming out of retirement in 2022 to face Kevin Owens in a no holds barred match. That was Austin’s first time wrestling in 19 years.

The 59-year-old Austin told Fox News Digital that, while he always thinks about having one more match, he’s “totally reality based” and believes that pro wrestling is a young man’s sport.

“They got such a stacked roster with so many great superstars these days that they’re not going to have any problem filling two nights of entertainment,” Austin said. “But if I got out there and be a part of it on one hand and do something positive that works for the company and works for what they want to do, and it satisfied a crowd, I’d be happy to.”

‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin comments on potential WWE WrestleMania 41 appearance

With WrestleMania 41 being held in Las Vegas, an appearance by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin could potentially be in the cards.

The Athletic spent time with Austin at his ranch in Nevada for a profile piece that was published this week. In the story, Austin indicated there’s a chance he could appear at WrestleMania 41 next April.

“I said I won’t leave Nevada. It’s hard to get me out of this state,” Austin said. “But … WrestleMania next year is in Vegas. That’s in Nevada.”

Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is hosting WrestleMania 41 on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, 2025. If Austin is involved with the event, it will be his first WrestleMania appearance since coming out of retirement to face Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 in 2022. That no holds barred match — which wasn’t officially announced in advance — was Austin’s first time wrestling in nearly two decades.

There were rumors that the 59-year-old Austin could potentially show up during the Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes main event at WrestleMania 40 night two this April. Instead, two other legends filled that role. The Undertaker and John Cena helped Rhodes fend off interference by The Rock and the rest of The Bloodline. Rhodes defeated Reigns to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.

The Rock: We’re on the 1-yard line of ‘biggest match of all-time’ at WWE WrestleMania 41

Image: WWE

The Rock isn’t playing down any involvement or fanfare when it comes to next year’s WWE WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.

In a feature on ESPN.com that detailed the preparation for his in-ring comeback and his emotions upon his return for night one of WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, The Rock had a quote to indicate something big is on the horizon for next year.

“We’re on the 1-yard line to create the biggest WrestleMania of all time and the biggest match of all time at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas,” The Rock said. “I’ll just leave it at that, Final Boss style.”

The night after WrestleMania, he confronted Cody Rhodes and indicated their issues were not yet over with while intimating that he is coming for Rhodes’ undisputed WWE title he defeated Roman Reigns for the night before.

In the positive feature, Rock (Dwayne Johnson) said he felt the nerves even after he stepped into the ring that first night. However, after his first lockup with Seth Rollins, he said the process became like riding a bike.

“My very first lockup with Seth Rollins, that’s when it all clicked,” Johnson said. “It’s like you have a shift-and-click moment. It’s riding the bicycle. Then he tagged in Cody. First time ever, I locked up with Cody and the lockup feels good.

“The moment you lock up with somebody in our world of pro wrestling, you immediately know what kind of wrestler they are, if they’re going to be stiff, if they’re going to be smooth, if they’re going to be intense, if they’re going to be in control. Both guys smooth, in control.”

After about ten minutes, he said he knew he had the conditioning to last nearly an hour as planned. He and Reigns defeated Rhodes and Rollins which added a Bloodline rules stipulation to the Rhodes vs. Reigns match on night two.

Johnson is currently filming “The Smashing Machine” and even though he injured his elbow while on set, the production is moving ahead. After that, Johnson will move into filming for the live action “Moana” movie, meaning the timeframe for the TKO Board member’s return to WWE is unclear.

The Latest: WWE supports Vince McMahon motion in Janel Grant lawsuit

Welcome to another episode of The Latest with Denise Salcedo breaking down the biggest wrestling news headlines of the week so far.

On today’s episode, we have another update in regards to the Vince McMahon/Janel Grant lawsuit. McMahon has filed a ‘Statement of Undisputed Material Facts,’ plus WWE supports McMahon’s motion.

In other news, the Las Vegas tourism group approved $5 million to host WWE WrestleMania, and Drew McIntyre discussed why he chose to stay with WWE.

Las Vegas tourism group approves $5 million to host WWE WrestleMania 41

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority have approved $5 million in sponsorship dollars to bring in next April’s WrestleMania 41 and all that surrounds it, announced by the tourism group on Tuesday.

The annual spectacular will be held for the first time at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday, April 19th and Sunday, April 20th during Easter weekend: a typically slow time for the city which is why bringing the event in was attractive for them.

Friday’s SmackDown and the following Monday’s Raw will take place at “at an MGM Resorts venue” in addition to WWE World making their home at the Las Vegas Convention Center for five days.

Lisa Motley, vice president of sports and special events for the group, said the city expects more than 180,000 fans to occupy 144,000 “incremental room nights” during the week and weekend.

Of the $5 million, it’s unknown how much WWE will bring home in terms of a site fee vs. how much will be represented by subsidies (venue rentals, advertising and signage, etc).

During last week’s earnings call, TKO vice president Mark Shapiro said they set a WWE site fee record for this past February’s Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia, without revealing the actual number. He previously said last December they had signed a deal worth $16 million for a combination of events in the country.

WWE’s largest site fees still come from Saudi Arabia which pays WWE $50 million per PLE.

Other reported and published site fees include $1.8 million in cash and subsidies from Puerto Rico for last year’s Backlash and SmackDown, $500,000 from St. Petersburg/Tampa for this year’s Royal Rumble, and almost $3 million from the Welsh government for September 2022’s Clash at the Castle.

Change by new WWE ownership led to WrestleMania 41 not being in Minnesota

A non-profit organization tasked with bringing major events to Minnesota was told the city was not chosen to host WWE WrestleMania 41 due to “a change in direction by new ownership.”

U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota had been a finalist in the running to land the event before Las Vegas was announced as the host city on Saturday.

Minnesota Sports and Events (MNSE) president and chief executive Wendy Blackshaw told the Star Tribune that they were informed Minnesota will not host WrestleMania 41 due to a “change in direction by new ownership.”

“We were informed by WWE that Minnesota would not host WrestleMania in 2025 due to a change in direction by new ownership,” Blackshaw said. “Although disappointed, we are in discussions with WWE about future events in Minnesota. We are optimistic that Minnesota will host WWE events here in the future.”

It was noted in the article that “Vegas-based Endeavor Sports and Entertainment took majority ownership of WWE about a year ago.”

WWE announced on Saturday that WWE WrestleMania 41 will take place April 19 & 20, 2025 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

WWE WrestleMania 41 to be held in Las Vegas

WrestleMania is officially headed back to Las Vegas for the first time since 1993.

In recent weeks, Las Vegas had become the frontrunner to host WrestleMania 41. That was made official today with WWE announcing that WrestleMania 41 will be held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20, 2025.

The announcement aired during NBC’s pre-race coverage of the Kentucky Derby.

This marks a bit of a schedule change for WrestleMania. Traditionally, the show has been held in early April. It’s now being pushed back a few weeks in 2025. WWE president Nick Khan said last month that WrestleMania would be moving away from taking place on the same weekend as the Final Four of NCAA March Madness.

Night two of WrestleMania 41 is the same day as Easter Sunday.

Allegiant Stadium is the home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders. SummerSlam 2021 was the first WWE event to be held at the stadium.

WrestleMania coming to Vegas is a collaboration between WWE and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. In the days surrounding WrestleMania, Las Vegas will also host Raw, SmackDown, the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, NXT Stand & Deliver, and the WWE World convention.

Ticket details will be announced in the coming months. WWE has started a mailing list for those interested in pre-sale information when it becomes available.

WrestleMania IX is the only other WrestleMania that’s been held in Las Vegas. Caesars Palace was the venue for that show.

Minneapolis was considered one of the contenders to host WrestleMania 41 before Vegas was chosen as the location.

WWE to make WrestleMania announcement Saturday

WWE will make an announcement regarding WrestleMania on its social media platforms on Saturday, May 4.

Commentators Corey Graves and Wade Barrett revealed during Friday’s SmackDown episode that WWE will make a WrestleMania-related announcement on Saturday, and that fans should stay tuned to WWE’s social media platforms for the news.

The announcement is believed to be related to the date and location for WrestleMania 41.

WWE has not revealed a timeline for the announcement, other than it will take place Saturday.

Our Dave Meltzer has reported that Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, 2025 in Las Vegas have been considered for next year’s event.

Las Vegas, Nevada, and Minneapolis, Minnesota have been mentioned as the frontrunners for hosting WrestleMania in 2025, with WWE president Nick Khan suggesting that the event could also be moved later in the calendar after being held in late March or early April, traditionally.

Philadelphia hosted this year’s WrestleMania, while the Los Angeles, Dallas, Tampa, and New York/New Jersey areas have also hosted the event in recent years.

WWE Backlash will stream live on Peacock/WWE Network on Saturday at 1 p.m. Eastern time, with the pre-show set for 12 p.m. Eastern time.

Update on potential host city for WWE WrestleMania 41

In the new Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer shared the latest he’s heard regarding where WrestleMania 41 may be held.

The host city for WrestleMania 41 has not been revealed yet, though an announcement is expected to be made next month. Las Vegas has recently gained steam as a rumored location. Minneapolis has also made a bid to host the event.

Meltzer writes that a location hasn’t been locked in. Las Vegas is considered the frontrunner as of now:

Regarding rumors of WrestleMania for 5/3 and 5/4 in Las Vegas, from what we are told it’s not locked in but it is being talked about as a possibility. Basically it’s working out the deal with the city which is what has delayed the announcement. Minneapolis submitted a bid as well. Undertaker on his podcast stated it would be in Las Vegas next year as far as he had heard and at press time it’s the frontrunner.

WrestleMania is usually held in early April. Recently, WWE president Nick Khan has suggested that it could be moved back a bit in the calendar. Khan said he doesn’t expect WrestleMania will be taking place on the same weekend as the Final Four of NCAA March Madness in the future.

Philadelphia was the host of WrestleMania 40. Other recent WrestleMania locations include the Los Angeles, Dallas, Tampa, and New York/New Jersey areas.

The Rock: ‘My sights are set on the next WrestleMania’

The Rock has his sights set.

On Instagram, The Rock reflected on his WrestleMania 40 match, praising the performances of Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins. At the end of the video, he teased his involvement in next year’s event.

Congratulations to Cody Rhodes, congratulations to my cousin Roman Reigns on an incredible three-in-a-half-year run, maybe even four years, just incredible, iconic, and historic. I’m very proud of you, uso. Also congratulations to the real MVP of the entire WrestleMania weekend, Seth Rollins. What an honor it was to share the ring with you three. What an honor it was for us to break records. And now my sights are set on the next WrestleMania. But that’s down the road.

https://www.instagram.com/p/reel:C5wzPBAvN-h

The Rock wrestled his first match in years last weekend, teaming with Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, setting up Bloodline Rules for the following night’s main event between Reigns and Rhodes. Towards the end of that match, The Rock interfered but was laid out by The Undertaker. Rhodes eventually won, ending Reigns’ championship run.

Rock explained in the Instagram caption that his body feels great, but is banged up. Prior to the match, he had a “fantastic 12 week training camp” and flew in wrestlers and coaches to work with him in Hawaii, California, and the East Coast.

Minneapolis submits bid to host WWE WrestleMania 41

The city of Minneapolis has submitted its bid for next year’s WrestleMania.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported on Wednesday that Minnesota Sports and Events has submitted its pitch to hold WrestleMania 41 at US Bank Stadium. Wendy Blackshaw, MNSE’s president and chief executive officer, told the Star Tribune that the process was “very competitive”.

“We are hopeful, and I hope we get it,” she said. “It would be amazing.”

Last year, Patrick Kessler of CBS Minneapolis reported that the city was among the finalists for next year’s event. If selected, it would mark the first time WrestleMania will be held in the city. WWE has yet to confirm details for WrestleMania 41.

WrestleMania 40 is taking place this year at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7. Roman Reigns & The Rock will face Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins on night one, while Rhodes will challenge Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on night two.
