The Street Profits challenge RK-Bro to Raw Tag Team title match at WWE WrestleMania 38

RK-Bro agreed to a Raw Tag Team title match against The Street Profits at WrestleMania 38 tonight on Raw.

During the show, RK-Bro held a celebration in honor of them winning the Raw Tag Team titles on last week’s Raw, defeating former champions Alpha Academy and the team of Kevin Owens & Seth Rollins in a three-way match. During the celebration, The Street Profits came out and challenged RK-Bro to a title match at WrestleMania. Orton declined the match initally, but Riddle agreed, saying they needed to face someone at WrestleMania.

An altercation between Montez Ford and Riddle turned into a match. However, the match ended when Alpha Academy came in and took out both teams. WWE has yet to officially confirm the match for WrestleMania.

Here are the current lineups for both WrestleMania cards:

SmackDown Tag Team title match added to WWE WrestleMania 38

A match for the SmackDown Tag Team titles is set for WrestleMania 38.

Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs will challenge The Usos for the titles following an angle that took place on tonight’s SmackDown. Boogs defeated Jey Uso in a match that gave him and Nakamura the opportunity to challenge for the titles.

Boogs and Nakamura interrupted The Usos on tonight’s show, with Boogs saying they were the next SmackDown Tag Team Champions. Jimmy brought to attention Boogs’ knee injury. He told Boogs that if he could beat Jey Uso in a match, he and Nakamura would get the title shot. Boogs proceeded to reveal that the injury was a ruse once the bell rang and quickly defeated Jey. After the match, Jimmy attacked Boogs with Boogs’ own guitar.

Edge vs. AJ Styles set for WWE WrestleMania 38 night two

Edge vs. AJ Styles has been added to WrestleMania Sunday.

WWE announced the date of the match on tonight’s show. This is following AJ Styles accepting Edge’s open challenge on Raw last week. After Styles accepted the challenge, Edge proceeded to attack Styles, low blowing him then taking him out with two conchairtos.

On Raw this week, Edge came to the ring and explained his actions. He said that he felt the freedom to fly last week, and showed a side of himself that he’s never seen before and has fallen in love with. He felt in full control over everything he did. He closed by saying he was standing on top of a mountain of omnipotence, and the view was phenomenal.

Steve Austin, Kevin Owens may have WWE WrestleMania 38 confrontation instead of match

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that as of Friday, Steve Austin had not agreed to a match for next month’s WWE WrestleMania 38.

While Austin is still slated to be on the show, it’s no longer clear if he’ll be having an actual match against Kevin Owens as had been the working plan. According to Meltzer, a confrontation between the two is now listed on the books.

“They will have a confrontation but it is not clear if that will be a match or not anymore,” Meltzer said. “It’s essentially up to Austin at this point. They want the match, they thought they had the match and Steve…there’s a reason he hasn’t wrestled in 19 years. I just know that as of Friday, he had not agreed to do the match even though it was on the books. Now, it’s on the books as a confrontation.”

Last month, it was learned that WWE was looking at having Austin return to the ring after nearly 20 years away from it against Owens, who has run down the state of Texas in recent weeks as part of the build. WWE has yet to tease an Austin return match or mention him by name.

The two-night event is set for AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, and the bout would be a big driver for ticket sales.

Sami Zayn vs. Johnny Knoxville official for WWE WrestleMania 38

A match between Sami Zayn and ‘Jackass’ star Johnny Knoxville is officially set for WrestleMania.

After Knoxville distracted Zayn earlier on SmackDown, causing him to lose the Intercontinental title to Ricochet, Zayn challenged Knoxville to a match at WrestleMania. In a promo later in the show, Knoxville accepted saying that he’s been in crazy situations before, and isn’t afraid of Zayn.

Knoxville and Zayn have been feuding since the start of the year, with Zayn eliminating Knoxville at the Royal Rumble in January. Knoxville later challenged Zayn to a match for the Intercontinental title, but Zayn balked at the idea until tonight.

Here are the current cards for WrestleMania 38, which takes place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on April 2 and 3:

Night one (Saturday, April 2) —

  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defends against Ronda Rousey
  • Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch defends against Bianca Belair
  • Rey & Dominik Mysterio vs. The Miz & Logan Paul
  • Drew McIntyre vs. Happy Corbin

Night two (Sunday, April 3) —

  • Winner-take-all championship unification match: WWE Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Universal Champion Roman Reigns

Night to be determined —

  • AJ Styles vs. Edge
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Carmella & Zelina Vega defend against Sasha Banks & Naomi
  • Pat McAfee vs. Austin Theory
  • Sami Zayn vs. Johnny Knoxville

The Undertaker to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame

The first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame has been announced as The Undertaker will be enshrined as part of this year’s ceremony at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas.

The ceremony will air live on Peacock and WWE Network after SmackDown on Friday, April 1st. For the first time, they will hold the event on the same night as as SmackDown as a doubleheader for fans.

The 56-year-old Houston, Texas, native born Mark Calaway made his WWE debut in October 1990 as Kane The Undertaker which was eventually changed. He made his TV debut at that November’s Survivor Series as a surprise addition to Ted DiBiase’s Million Dollar Team.

He won his first WWE Championship by defeating Hulk Hogan at the following year’s Survivor Series, a title he would win four times. He also won the World title three times, the WWE Tag Team titles six times, the WCW Tag Team titles once and the WWE Hardcore title once.

His last “match” came at WrestleMania 36 in March 2020 when he defeated AJ Styles in a cinematic Boneyard match while his last actual in-ring bout came a month prior in Saudi Arabia in a gauntlet match that he won.

He was honored at the 2020 Survivor Series after 30 years with WWE, closing the show with a short promo saying it was time for him to rest in peace. He did his traditional pose while a hologram of former manager Paul Bearer was projected. Earlier that year, he said he was retiring as part of his Last Ride docuseries on WWE Network.

Another ‘Austin-level’ surprise still to come for WWE WrestleMania 38

According to Dave Meltzer, another “Austin-level surprise” is yet to be revealed for WWE WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas.

Talking on Tuesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said he isn’t sure who it would be as he considers Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Undertaker, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair at that level.

He said that he thought Johnson and even John Cena were both unable to make the schedule for this year’s WrestleMania, set for Saturday, April 2nd and April 3rd.

In January, Cena said he was unlikely for the show but that he isn’t done with WWE by a long shot.

Meltzer didn’t say whether the surprise was going to be revealed before WrestleMania and if that surprise would be in a match or just an appearance on the show.

“Austin-level,” of course, is referring to Steve Austin as rumors broke this week that he might be returning to the ring for a match against Kevin Owens, his first since 2003.

Co-host Garrett Gonzales asked Meltzer about rumblings Mat Men’s Andrew Zarian heard about WWE hoping this wouldn’t be a one-off for Austin. Meltzer couldn’t confirm it as he wasn’t sure what Austin’s motivations were for a comeback and whether he might be looking for a Goldberg or Edge-level deal where he returns for a few select matches per year.

WWE WrestleMania commercials reportedly airing during Super Bowl LVI

WWE will have a presence during Sunday’s Super Bowl LVI broadcast.

According to a PW Insider report, WWE told employees today that “multiple” commercials for WrestleMania 38 will air during the Super Bowl.

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reports that a 30-second spot will air during the pregame show, while a 15-second ad will air during the game itself.

This year’s Super Bowl airs on NBC and Peacock. Recent commercials for Peacock have highlighted WWE programming, but the report is unclear as to whether or not the ads on Sunday will be dedicated WWE WrestleMania commercials, or simply ads for the Peacock streaming service.

WWE’s most famous Super Bowl ad aired in 1999, but the company also aired a commercial during the 2000 Super Bowl.

WrestleMania 38 takes place on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Super Bowl LVI kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, February 13. The game will feature the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals, and will be held at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. SoFi Stadium is also scheduled to host WrestleMania 39 in 2023.

Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair planned for WWE WrestleMania 38

Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey is slated to be one of the key matches for WWE WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas.

Most likely, the angle to set things in motion will take place at Saturday’s WWE Royal Rumble, either during or after the Rumble match. Flair, the current SmackDown Women’s Champion, is in the match.

Rousey’s entourage was already in St. Louis, Missouri, yesterday and there is talk of her appearing on Monday’s Raw.

Rousey is back in WWE for a substantial run and not just for the Rumble and WrestleMania. She will be part of SmackDown, although she may appear on Raw shows at times to help boost ratings.

Her being on Smackdown is to throw a major bone to Fox which had hoped for both Rousey and Brock Lesnar to be regulars on the show. The deal, which is in excess of one year, includes major matches at both this year’s WrestleMania and next year’s WrestleMania at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA.

Rousey vs. Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch was discussed and actually made the most sense, but the decision was made to put Rousey on SmackDown. That would make Rousey vs. Lynch the favorite for next year’s WrestleMania.

This would be Flair and Rousey’s second singles match as they wrestled at the 2018 Survivor Series, a match Rousey won by DQ.

Undertaker appears at NFL game promoting WWE WrestleMania 38

The Undertaker was in attendance at today’s Cowboys vs. Broncos NFL game at AT&T Stadium in Dallas to promote Friday’s on-sale date for WWE WrestleMania 38 tickets. The venue will host WrestleMania 38 on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3, 2022.

Undertaker posted photos of himself at the game alongside wife and former WWE star Michelle McCool, members of the Jones family who own the Dallas Cowboys, players, and former United States President George W. Bush.

Undertaker tweeted:

“The Deadman in Dallas… getting ready for #WrestleMania @ATTStadium with the @dallascowboys”

Undertaker and McCool were also shown on the stadium’s big screen during the game.

Tickets for WrestleMania officially go on sale Friday, November 12 at 11 a.m. Eastern time. Travel packages for WrestleMania 38 go on sale Monday, November 8 at noon Eastern time.

WWE tweeted:

“The @undertaker was on the sidelines ahead of today’s @dallascowboys game and spent some time recognizing members of the United States Military!”

The NFL brands each November as their “Salute to Service” month and have tie-ins with branches of the military, as well as selling military-themed merchandise.

The Denver Broncos defeated the Dallas Cowboys 30-16 today.
