Netflix touts WWE Raw viewership for first year on platform

In a press release issued today, Netflix celebrated the viewership WWE brought in during its first year on the platform.

January 6 marked the one-year anniversary of Raw coming to Netflix. Over the first year of the partnership, Netflix claims its subscribers watched 525 million hours of WWE content. Most of that was for Raw, while the remaining portion was taken up by content that is available internationally but not on Netflix in the United States.

“Netflix members welcomed WWE with a bang (but thankfully, no permanent injuries). In 2025, our members watched 525M hours of WWE content,” the press release said. “Of this total, Raw accounted for nearly 340M views and 185M views for Premium Live Events broadcast outside of the US like SmackDown, WrestleMania, Elimination Chamber, Money in the Bank, Night of Champions and Royal Rumble.”

Netflix touted that Raw ranked in the top 10 of its category most weeks, with it only falling outside of the rankings in December when “Stranger Things” took up much of the top 10.

“Since Raw’s official Netflix debut on January 6, 2025, the show has made the Global English TV Top 10 nearly every week it’s been on service (47 out of a possible 52 weeks),” Netflix wrote. “Over 52 shows, Raw has averaged more than 3M views per week.

“And it’s not just in the US, the birthplace of the WWE. Raw has made the Top 10 in 34 countries, including the US (51 weeks), Bolivia (49 weeks), Canada (48 weeks), the UK (40 weeks) and Mexico (38 weeks).”

The start of 2026 saw the WWE PLE library added to Netflix. Along with that, season two of the docuseries “WWE: Unreal” will arrive on the service on January 20.

Netflix reveals date for WWE-Stranger Things crossover

We’re officially less than two weeks away from a crossover between WWE Raw and the hit Netflix series Stranger Things.

Last week, it was reported that a promotional crossover between WWE and Stranger Things would be happening soon. Details were sparse at the time and there is still not much information available, but we now know that it will be taking place on January 5. The crossover is happening on the first Raw of 2026, which will celebrate the one-year anniversary of Raw moving to the streaming platform.

“THE WWE GETS STRANGER,” Netflix tweeted out today. “January 5 LIVE only on Netflix at 8 PM ET | 5 PM PT #WWERaw”

Brooklyn, New York is hosting the January 5 show. It will feature a World Heavyweight Championship match with CM Punk defending against Bron Breakker. Two other title bouts are also set for the episode. Maxxine Dupri defends her Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Becky Lynch, while Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY challenge Asuka & Kairi Sane for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles.

Stranger Things — one of the most popular original series in Netflix’s history — is currently in the midst of its final season. More episodes will be released on Christmas Day, with the final batch then set to drop on New Year’s Eve.

“In 1980s Indiana, a group of young friends witness supernatural forces and secret government exploits,” the official description for Stranger Things says. “As they search for answers, the children unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries.”

Hulk Hogan booed at WWE Raw Netflix premiere

The crowd in the Intuit Dome was not welcoming to WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan on Monday’s Raw premiere on Netflix.

Hogan entered to a negative reaction on Monday’s show, the same day his Real American Beer brand announced a partnership with WWE, including WWE acquiring a minority ownership stake in the company.

The crowd in Inglewood’s reaction to Hogan has received mainstream press attention, including from Variety.

Hogan name checked Andre the Giant and Randy Savage, and thanked the fans for being his best tag team partner and sticking with him over the years in an attempt to turn the segment around, but the crowd would have none of it:

The 71-year-old Hogan’s reputation and career were irreparably harmed after he called himself a racist and repeatedly used an ethnic slur in referring to Black people in a 2007 sex tape video that was filmed without his consent. The video leaked in 2015, and Hogan was fired from WWE. The company brought Hogan back in 2018.

Hogan added further fuel to his controversial image by endorsing fellow WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump for President of the United States in 2024 and speaking at the Republican National Convention.

Paul Heyman to present Ula Fala to WWE Raw Tribal Combat winner

A WWE Hall of Famer’s role in the Tribal Combat match set for the Monday, January 6 Raw on Netflix premiere has been revealed.

Part of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2024, Paul Heyman will present the Ula Fala to the winner of the Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa Tribal Combat match as Raw kicks off its Netflix era this coming Monday.

In an in-ring promo segment on SmackDown, Sikoa charged Heyman with keeping watch of the Ula Fala necklace during Tribal Combat, then said that Heyman must present the necklace to the winner of the match, and that the loser of the bout must acknowledge the winner as their Tribal Chief. Heyman agreed to the stipulations on Reigns’ behalf.

Heyman has served as the storyline manager and “Wise Man” for Reigns for a number of years, and was briefly aligned with Sikoa’s iteration of The Bloodline earlier this year, before the Sikoa-led group featuring Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu put Heyman through an announce desk at Madison Square Garden in 2024.

Reigns returned to WWE at SummerSlam this year after a hiatus following his WrestleMania 40 loss to Cody Rhodes, then reunited his version of The Bloodline alongside Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso.

The lineup for the WWE Raw Netflix premiere on Monday, January 6 at 8 p.m. Eastern time:

  • Tribal Combat: Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa
  • CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins
  • Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan defends against Rhea Ripley in a Last Woman Standing match
  • Drew McIntyre vs. Jey Uso

  • The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) vs. Rey Mysterio & TBA

Drew McIntyre vs. Jey Uso added to WWE Raw Netflix premiere

Another new match is set for the WWE Raw premiere episode on Netflix on January 6, 2025.

After Drew McIntyre attacked Jey Uso in the ring on Monday’s Raw, GM Adam Pearce announced that McIntyre vs. Uso has been made official for next week’s Netflix premiere.

Since returning to WWE on the December 2 Raw, McIntyre has focused his attacks on Roman Reigns’ iteration of The Bloodline, including Uso, plus scoring victories over Sami Zayn at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and on the December 16 Raw.

McIntyre vs. Uso is one of four matches official for next week’s episode, which also features the return of John Cena for the kickoff of his retirement tour, plus the expected debut of Penta El Zero Miedo.

The lineup for the Monday, January 6 WWE Raw on Netflix premiere episode:

Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa tribal combat match set for WWE Raw Netflix premiere

Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa will meet next month.

During a promo on SmackDown, Reigns officially challenged Solo Sikoa to a tribal combat match for the ula fala, the necklace that signifies him as the tribal chief. Later in the show, announcers confirmed the bout for the Netflix premiere of Raw on January 6 in Los Angeles.

In the promo, Reigns said that it has been a long year, first losing his family and later losing the WWE Championship. He told Solo that he didn’t take the ula fala, it was given to him by his father and uncle. He was given that responsibility. He said that on January 6, he would take back his Bloodline, the ula fala, and his respect. And once he has that respect, the world will have no choice but to acknowledge him.

Since returning at SummerSlam, Reigns has zeroed in on Solo Sikoa, who took over as the leader of the Bloodline during his absence. At Survivor Series: WarGames, Reigns’ original Bloodline bested the new version of the Bloodline, with Reigns pinning Sikoa.

WWE confirms location for Raw’s Netflix premiere, rap star set to appear

The location for the premiere episode of Raw on Netflix has now been confirmed.

WWE officially announced Monday morning that the January 6, 2025 premiere will take place at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. Tickets will go on sale this Friday at 1 p.m. Eastern time via Ticketmaster.

Additionally, it was announced that rap star Travis Scott will be appearing at the show.

The Intuit Dome had been linked to the Raw Netflix premiere dating back to September, when WrestleVotes reported that it was a possible venue for the show. Netflix is based in LA. The newly opened arena is home to the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers.

Raw is finishing off its final months on USA ahead of the move, with the show reverting back to a two-hour format until December 30, the final episode on the network. Runtime details for Raw on Netflix have not been confirmed.

The move will finalize the last of WWE’s three new television deals for each of their brands. In September, SmackDown moved from Fox to the USA Network, while NXT later moved from USA to The CW.

Possible location for first WWE Raw on Netflix

Los Angeles may be hosting WWE Raw’s first episode on Netflix in January 2025.

WrestleVotes Radio reported this week that Los Angeles appears set to host Raw’s Netflix debut with the Intuit Dome mentioned as the possible venue. Located in Inglewood, the Intuit Dome opened its doors this August and will be home to the NBA’s LA Clippers.

Monday, January 6, 2025 is the date for the first Raw on Netflix. In the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that there’s been “pretty strong talk” of the show being held in Los Angeles:

  • While not confirmed, there was a lot of talk this week coming off Raw that the first Raw on Netflix on 1/6 would be in Southern California. There were Netflix employees in the first few rows at Raw this week. Netflix is based in both Los Angeles and Los Gatos, CA, which would be the San Jose market. As part of that talk was the idea of doing NXT in the same building the next night. Again, this is just talk although the Raw episode in Los Angeles is pretty strong talk.

Raw will air on USA Network for the remainder of 2024 until its new deal with Netflix begins at the start of 2025. From October 7 through December 30, Raw will move back to being a two-hour show on USA Network. The runtime for Raw on Netflix has not been confirmed, though it’s possible that the show length will be more flexible without the constraints of regular television.

John Cena will be appearing on Raw’s Netflix premiere. He’s set for a retirement tour that will last from January through December 2025.

WWE Raw to be three-hour show on Netflix

After a brief return to two hours, WWE Raw will be a three-hour show again when it comes to Netflix.

It was announced on Monday night that — from October 7 through the end of 2024 — Raw will be a two-hour show on USA Network. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the news and confirmed that Raw will still be three hours on Netflix when it moves to the platform in January 2025.

“It’s a three-hour show when they move back to Netflix,” Meltzer said. “Yeah, I got it confirmed a few minutes ago. The basic situation is — it was a USA Network call, not a WWE call.”

Raw’s current TV deal expires at the end of September, but WWE and USA Network reached a deal to keep the show on USA for three months until the Netflix move. This period will be the first time Raw has not been three hours since 2012.

The date for Raw’s Netflix premiere episode is Monday, January 6.

WWE SmackDown aired its final Fox episode last week and will be back on USA Network this Friday, returning to the channel for the first time since 2019. A new TV deal for WWE NXT also goes into effect soon. Including tonight, NXT has three more episodes on USA Network before moving to The CW at the start of October.
