WWE Hall of Fame live coverage: Rey Mysterio, Great Muta, Stacy Keibler

Four inductees will join the WWE Hall of Fame in Los Angeles, California, following SmackDown.

The new class is made up of Rey Mysterio, The Great Muta, Stacy Keibler and comedian Andy Kaufman. Additionally, the late Tim White will be honored with the company’s Warrior Award.

Outside a three-year run when he left the company, Mysterio has been a fixture of WWE since 2002 following the end of WCW and has held nearly every major singles title in WWE.

The Great Muta never competed in WWE, but recently wrapped a near-yearlong retirement tour after a lengthy career. He had memorable runs in WCW and NJPW in addition to being the former president of AJPW.

Keibler is a former WCW Nitro Girl and rose to prominence as Ms. Hancock before coming to WWE post-sale. She was in WWE from 2001-2006 but never held a title.

Kaufman was also never in WWE, but was part of a legendary feud with Jerry Lawler.

Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are on commentary for the Hall of Fame Kickoff.

Byron Saxton and Maria Menounos interviewed Corey Graves & Carmella backstage. Graves spoke about meeting The Great Muta for the first time tonight.

Cathy Kelley interviewed Booker T and Sharmell backstage. Sharmell talked about her fellow Nitro Girl, Stacy Keibler, being inducted tonight.

Back to Saxton and Menounos who are with Kurt Angle and his wife, Giovanna. Angle said he loves Rey Mysterio “like a brother.”

Michael Cole then spoke about having known Rey Mysterio for over 20 years.

Charlotte Flair is with Cathy Kelley. She mentioned that she was wearing matching outfits with her husband on the red carpet.

Saxton and Menounos interview The Miz and Maryse.

Cole discussed Tim White winning this year’s Warrior Award. He mentioned how White had been Andre the Giant’s assistant, ran the Friendly Tap bar, and what he meant to the company.

Sami Zayn and his wife are backstage with Menounos and Saxton. He mentioned him and Kevin Owens wrestling for years in PWG, mentioning Pro Wrestling Guerrilla by name. Zayn also seemed concerned that Dominik might somehow disrupt his father’s induction.

The crowd got excited as Rob Van Dam took his seat on the stage with the other Hall of Famers and legends.

The Street Profits are backstage with Saxton and Kelley where Montez Ford and Saxton wearing matching jackets was the focus of the conversation.

That takes us to the main show.

We open up with a video featuring previously inducted members of the WWE Hall of Fame.

Kayla Braxton and Corey Graves are at the podium inside the ring. Braxton announces Stacy Keibler as the first to be inducted. Footage of Keibler’s career set to ZZ Top’s “She’s Got Legs” is shown.

Keibler’s pre-WWE career from Baltimore Ravens cheerleader to Nitro Girl, to Miss Hancock to WWE is recapped. They also showed footage of her from Dancing With The Stars and more from her post-WWE career.

Graves introduces Mick Foley and Torrie Wilson to induct her. Keibler inducted Wilson into the Hall of Fame in 2019.

Foley suggested that Keibler and Molly Holly have a match to determine who is the nicest person in the history of WWE. He shared some memories from their time in WWE together before introducing Wilson. She spoke about meeting Keibler in WCW and said her friendly carefree attitude won people over all the time. Wilson spoke more about Keibler’s accomplishments in wrestling and in her post-wrestling career.

Keibler made her entrance set once again to ZZ Top’s “She’s Got Legs.”

She thanked the fans and spoke about having always loved performing since she was little. Keibler showed a photo of her when she was young in a WCW live crowd holding up a sign that said, “Thank you Bret.” She said she was a superfan then and she’s a superfan now. Another photo of her wearing an NWO Wolfpac shirt as a kid was shown as well.

Keibler spoke about wrestlers being gritty and how even though wrestling hurts, her pain went away whenever she went through the curtain. Keibler thanked Madusa for pushing her, Trish, Lita, Molly Holly, Jaqueline, Jazz, Victoria, and Gail Kim were mentioned. She also thanked Fit Finlay, The Dudley Boyz, Shane Helms, and Torrie Wilson. She said Foley will always have a special place in her heart. Keibler thanked her family, who were then shown ringside.

She thanked the fans again and then wrapped it up.

Next up is Andy Kaufman.

A video featuring footage of Kaufman’s time in wrestling along with comments from Jerry Lawler, William Shatner, and Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias is shown. The video also had a clip of Kaufman’s friend Bob Zmuda saying Kaufman achieved his dream wrestling in Memphis.

Jerry Lawler sent in a video. Lawler said as he’s home recovering, he asked Jimmy Hart to help induct Kaufman into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Jimmy Hart came out to his song, “Eat Your Heart Out Rick Springfield.” Hart told some stories of how much Kaufman loved wrestling. He told different stories about how he and Kaufman once got attacked in their car because they were hated so much. Hart said that Kaufman would refuse to sign autographs to stay in character and told other stories from his time in wrestling.

Hart then introduced the Kaufman family to the ring. Andy’s brother thanked Lawler for making all of this happen. He said Kaufman was a lifelong fan of wrestling and didn’t get into it as a gag. They mentioned people told Kaufman that wrestling was bad for his career but he wouldn’t stop because he loved it. They said being inducted into the Hall of Fame would have meant the world to him. Kaufman’s daughter thanked the fans and the speech finished up.

Dominik and Ripley are shown, which got a reaction from the crowd.

The Great Muta will be inducted next.

Footage of The Great Muta’s career is shown focussing entirely on his time as The Great Muta character. The clips were mainly from WCW but there was also some footage from NOAH as well. They made special mention of Tegan Nox doing Muta’s Shining Wizard and showed a side-by-side of both doing the move. Asuka was shown talking about the mysterious mist. She said Muta is the reason she became a wrestler. Footage of his match against Nakamura is also shown.

Ric Flair is introduced to induct Muta.

Flair told some stories of working with Muta. He also commented on Asuka being “a bada**” at one point. Flair talked about his respect for the culture of wrestling in Japan. He then listed off wrestlers who beat him up in Japan. Flair gave a special mention to Jumbo Tsuruta and said he wants to induct him one day. He then joked about Hunter coming out to wrap him up. Flair then introduced Muta, referring to him as someone who performed in the same class as Ricky Steamboat and Shawn Michaels.

Muta walked to the ring. Flair continued to say that Muta once looked after his son as if he was his own and that he will love him forever. The crowd chants Muta’s name.

Muta thanked everyone and said he would keep it short because he doesn’t speak English well. He said he was honored to be in the WWE Hall of Fame and wrapped up a short but fun speech. He then blew green mist into the air to a big pop. Asuka was then shown cheering in the crowd.

Braxton and Graves then introduced a video about Tim White winning the Warrior Award.

Clips of White’s refereeing career were shown including segments and matches with several Hall of Famers. They also spoke about his role and friendship with Andre the Giant. A clip of White saying he particularly enjoyed working with The Godfather is also shown. They also mentioned his career behind the scenes and that he was universally liked.

JBL and Ron Simmons are brought out as the APA to induct White.

Ron Simmons said “Damn” after waiting a comedically appropriate time. JBL said that Tim was a great friend of theirs and a great friend of everybody. They spoke about spending a lot of time in Tim’s bar. Simmons joked about how whenever White needed to renovate the bar, he’d call WWE about doing a scene there so WWE would then need to pay for the damage caused.

JBL introduced Tim’s brothers to accept the Warrior Award.

Tim’s brother said the whole White family wanted to thank the WWE for his induction into the Hall of Fame. He said that if his brother was here today, he would express his gratitude for all the love, support, and friendships he received during his career. Tim’s other brother then hoisted the Warrior Award trophy up Stanley Cup style and celebrated, which was pretty fun.

Braxton and Graves announced that Rey Mysterio’s induction is up next.

Footage of Rey Mysterio’s WWE career was shown. There were some clips from WCW and ECW but it was primarily focused on his WWE career. Rey and Eddie Guerrero’s time working together was featured as well. I don’t believe there was any footage of Dominik shown.

Konnan is brought out to induct Mysterio. He got a nice response and went right into it with a lot of energy. The crowd started to liven up. Konnan talked about how much things have changed, and how much more diverse wrestling has become. He talked about how Rey was a young surfer when he met him. It was hard to get promoters to use him but he would try with anyone who would listen. He told stories about lying to bouncers about Rey’s age so he could get into venues to perform.

Konnan continued to talk about bringing Mysterio to ECW and WCW and pushing him hard as a generational talent to promoters. He also talked about Rey’s debut match in WCW getting a standing ovation backstage. His importance to Lucha libre and how he broke barriers of what a wrestler is supposed to look like is also mentioned.

Konnan made a joke about being adopted and “replacing Dominik.” The camera then cut to Dominik who did not look pleased.

Konnan was amazing here and got the crowd super into it.

Rey comes out. Dominik and Ripley are the only ones on the stage who don’t stand up and cheer. Rey walks past and there is no exchange between them.

“You deserve it” chants ring out throughout the arena. Rey told them to stop so he doesn’t cry more. A really big, long ovation for Rey. He thanked Konnan for the introduction. And with that, Dominik, Ripley, and Damian Priest stood up and left to a chorus of boos. Rey looked upset but composed himself. Rey told the crowd he “would take care of business tomorrow,” which got a big reaction.

Rey spoke about starting his career in Mexico and backyards in Los Angeles. He said he wanted to follow in his uncle, Rey Mysterio Sr’s footsteps. He loved Lucha libre and started training at eight years old. His uncle would chop him so hard that he would bail out of the ring and hide in a corner.

Rey talked about meeting Konnan when he was 12. It was a little brother, big brother relationship. He told a story about having to get his wrestling license in Mexico, which was difficult because he hadn’t even turned 15 yet. Rey’s father signed a waiver thinking that he would quit. He talked about it being hard to get booked because of his size.

Rey talked about Konnan calling him when he was starting AAA and said Konnan wouldn’t let him turn down the opportunity. Rey said he couldn’t leave his girlfriend but Konnan responded that “if she loves you, she’ll wait for you” and now that woman is his wife. He talked about her sending him money when he was on the road and broke, which got an “Angie” chant from the crowd.

Rey continued to talk about ECW and gave a special mention to Psicosis and Dean Malenko. He spoke about WCW and his relationship with Eddie Guerrero, which got a big reaction from the crowd. Rey mentioned he took some time off after WWE bought WCW as his daughter, Aalyah, was just born.

He moved on to his WWE career next. He thanked anyone who had anything to do with his story and his success. Rey thanked his family, his coaches, and the veterans who broke him in. He specifically mentioned Konnan, and said he and his wife have a saying that they thank God first for everything they have, and Konnan second.

Rey also thanked Paul Heyman, Eric Bischoff, Kevin Sullivan, and everyone he was ever in the ring with. William Regal, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, all the agents he’s worked with, Batista, Undertaker, Edge, JBL, Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, John Cena, and Eddie Guerrero all received mention from Rey here. He thanked the WWE Universe as well and wrapped up his speech. Rey hugged several people ringside and received a standing ovation from the crowd as the show went off the air.

Stacy Keibler to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

Stacy Keibler is the fourth inductee to be confirmed for the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame class.

It was announced via People today that Keibler will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony is taking place after SmackDown in Los Angeles this Friday (March 31). The ceremony will stream live on Peacock/WWE Network.

Rey Mysterio, The Great Muta, Andy Kaufman, and Keibler are the inductees that have been announced for this year’s Hall of Fame class.

“I never thought I would be in the Hall of Fame, to be honest,” Keibler told People. “I was completely shocked when I got the call. I had tears in my eyes.”

Keibler got her start in pro wrestling for WCW in 1999 and joined WWE following the purchase of WCW. Her career with WWE lasted until 2006.

Keibler told People that she decided to enter pro wrestling after being a fan of the industry. Keibler, who was formerly a cheerleader for the Baltimore Ravens, joined WCW by winning a contest to find a new Nitro Girl.

“I would go to every show within a three-hour drive from Baltimore,” Keibler said. “I drove to Philly, and I drove to New York, I drove to D.C. I was in the stands wearing my NWO shirts and holding my posters.”

Outside of pro wrestling, Keibler finished in third place on the second season of Dancing with the Stars.

Keibler told People that her current focus is on spending time with her husband and three children.

“I’ve entered into another chapter of being a mom, and anyone with three kids knows that that’s a juggling act, and it’s my full-time job,” Keibler said. “So I have taken a step back to focus on putting my heart and soul into that. Now because I’ve been a performer since the age of seven, of course, it’s also in my heart, but it’s just something that I’ve kind of taken a backseat to that, focusing on something else.”

Keibler appeared at the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony when she inducted Torrie Wilson.

Andy Kaufman to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

One of the most impactful celebrity wrestlers of all time is set to take their place in the WWE Hall of Fame.

It was announced via Variety today that Andy Kaufman will be part of the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame class. The induction ceremony is taking place after SmackDown in Los Angeles on Friday, March 31. The ceremony will stream live on Peacock/WWE Network.

Kaufman, an actor and comedian who played Latka Gravas on the television show “Taxi,” was involved in pro wrestling when he took part in an angle with Jerry Lawler in Memphis. The angle included a 1982 appearance on the David Letterman show where Lawler slapped Kaufman.

Kaufman claimed to be the Inter-Gener Champion of the World in pro wrestling, a character where he would challenge women to pin him.

Kaufman died at 35 years old in 1984. A movie about his life, titled “Man on the Moon,” was released in 1999 and included appearances by Lawler, Jim Ross, and Lance Russell.

“It has not yet been decided who will induct Kaufman into the Hall of Fame,” Variety wrote. “Lawler has frequently attended the Hall of Fame ceremonies over the years, but he suffered a stroke in February and it is unclear if he will be healthy enough to attend.”

Kaufman joins Rey Mysterio and The Great Muta in this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class.

The Great Muta confirmed for WWE Hall of Fame

The Great Muta is the second confirmed inductee for the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame class.

It was confirmed on WWE’s The Bump this afternoon that Muta (Keiji Muto) will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame over WrestleMania 39 week. Muta is being inducted by Ric Flair.

“He’s a tremendous guy, a tremendous athlete, a great person, a great man,” Flair said about Muta. “I’ve wrestled him probably 500 times. And I can’t think of a better guy for the company to honor. And boy when you’re honored and enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame, it really makes you a special, special person.”

Flair said he loves Muta beyond wrestling and has a special place in his heart for him because his late son Reid was working with Muta in Japan just before Reid’s passing.

The legendary career of Muta came to an end with a retirement tour that wrapped up at the Tokyo Dome last month. In his final matches, Muta faced Tetsuya Naito and Masahiro Chono.

Muta had his final match as the Great Muta character in January, teaming with Sting & Darby Allin in a six-man tag team match.

Muta’s retirement tour also included a match against WWE’s Shinsuke Nakamura for Pro Wrestling NOAH.

Rey Mysterio (inducted by Konnan) and Muta are the first two entrants to be confirmed for this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class. The ceremony is taking place after SmackDown in Los Angeles on Friday, March 31. It will stream live on Peacock/WWE Network.

Update on next WWE Hall of Fame inductee

It appears that The Great Muta (Keiji Muto) will be the next inductee confirmed for the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame class.

On Raw last night, it was announced that Ric Flair will reveal the next Hall of Fame inductee on WWE’s The Bump this Wednesday. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Flair has been asked to induct Muta into the Hall of Fame.

I presume that that’s Keiji Muto because Ric Flair has asked to induct Muto, or has been asked to induct Muto. A lot of people thought it would be Sting, but politically that would have been tough before. I think it would be even tougher now. So I don’t know that that’s the case. We do know that Muto has been asked to be in the Hall of Fame, and we do know that Flair has asked to induct him, so that seems to make sense.

Muta completed a retirement tour at the Tokyo Dome last month. The retirement tour also included a match against WWE star Shinsuke Nakamura for Pro Wrestling NOAH.

PWInsider first reported that Muta would be going into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. They’ve also reported that WWE is working on a deal for Stacy Keibler to be one of this year’s inductees.

The Hall of Fame ceremony is taking place in Los Angeles after SmackDown on Friday, March 31. The ceremony will stream live on Peacock/WWE Network.

Rey Mysterio is the only inductee that has been officially announced for the 2023 Hall of Fame class thus far. He’s being inducted by Konnan.

Ric Flair to announce next WWE Hall of Fame inductee on The Bump

The next Hall of Fame inductee will be revealed this Wednesday.

WWE announced on Raw Monday that Ric Flair will be a guest on The Bump, WWE’s weekly studio talk show, on Wednesday where he will announce the next WWE Hall of Fame inductee. The show airs at 1 pm ET.

The company began announcing Hall of Fame inductees on Friday when Rey Mysterio was announced as the first inductee. Mysterio came out for a speech, but was interrupted by his son, Dominik.

This year’s WWE Hall of Fame will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on March 31. It will take place immediately after WWE SmackDown takes place in the same building, and will stream live on Peacock.

After leaving WWE in 2021, Flair started to make appearances for the company again late last year, appearing in a new documentary on Peacock. He also appeared at Raw 30 earlier this year.

Wrestling Observer Live: WWE gambling song, Ruby Soho promo analysis

It’s Saturday and that means Wrestling Observer Live with myself, Jim Valley.

We got another #becauseofthefans promo this week on AEW Dynamite from Ruby Soho, but let’s analyze and decide if it indeed qualifies as #becauseofthefans.

Gambling and WWE made headlines this week as they are making inroads to having legalized betting on matches in select U.S. states.

Everyone is asking the obvious questions, but nobody is asking the most important question: what would Kenny Rogers say? Let’s answer that question in song with vocals by Matthew Lindley (aka Matthew Lindley on Bandcamp)

Plus, let’s talk Rey Mysterio to the WWE Hall of Fame, a new sponsor, and more.

This is a very fun show, so check it out.

Konnan to induct Rey Mysterio into WWE Hall of Fame

Konnan will be taking part in this year’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.

Dave Meltzer confirms that Konnan will induct his friend Rey Mysterio into the WWE Hall of Fame at this month’s ceremony over WrestleMania week in Los Angeles. Meltzer notes that WWE approved Mysterio’s request to have Konnan induct him.

“Konnan will be inducting Rey into the Hall of Fame,” Meltzer wrote. “Rey asked for him and the company approved it. As noted last night, to me it was the only choice.”

Konnan inducting Mysterio was first reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Mysterio was revealed as the first inductee for the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame class on SmackDown last night. The video package announcing his induction can be seen below:

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is taking place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles after SmackDown on Friday, March 31. The Great Muta will also reportedly be an inductee in this year’s class.

Mysterio is currently feuding with his son Dominik leading into WrestleMania.

Batista hoping to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame this year

Three years after he was originally supposed to be inducted, Batista (Dave Bautista) is hoping to finally go into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Batista was asked about his WWE Hall of Fame status while being interviewed at the premiere for his new movie “Knock at the Cabin.” Batista told ComicBook.com that he hopes to be inducted this year, but he can’t say for sure.

“I hope so, but I can’t say for sure,” Batista said. “I can say that I’m trying. I am trying.”

Batista was announced as a WWE Hall of Fame inductee in 2020, but that ceremony was canceled following the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. When the 2020 and 2021 Hall of Fame classes were inducted at a ceremony without fans in attendance the next year, Batista wasn’t able to take part in the ceremony.

Batista tweeted in March 2021: “To the @WWEUniverse Unfortunately due to previous obligations I am unable to be a part of the @WWE #HOF this year. By my request they have agreed to induct me at a future ceremony where I’ll be able to properly thank the fans and people who made my career possible #DreamChaser”

Batista retired from in-ring competition following his no holds barred match against Triple H at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.

There haven’t been any inductees confirmed for this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class yet. The ceremony is taking place after SmackDown at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on March 31, which is the Friday of WrestleMania weekend.

The Hall of Fame ceremony is being held at the same arena where Batista defeated Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 21.

Lex Luger would attempt to walk on stage if inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

Lex Luger says being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame would be the “cherry on top of” his career.

The 64-year-old will be the focus of Sunday’s episode of Biography: WWE Legends on A&E. In an interview with Sports Illustrated released on Thursday, Luger spoke about his health and possible induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

“It’s mind-boggling. I’m in phenomenal health,” Luger said. “Other than my mobility issues from my spinal cord issue, I’m very healthy, and that’s a miracle of God after what I put my body through. I usually use a wheelchair or a walker, but I can walk some.”

“I have great mobility; I drive. But you know how your power will go out for a moment during a storm? That can happen to me, and I’m on the floor before I know it. So I take a lot of precautions. I live totally independently, which wasn’t supposed to happen. I don’t look the same because I don’t hit the weights like I used to, but I’m healthy.”

Luger was also asked about possibly being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame someday.

“I might pop out of the chair for that. I would take that chance, if that moment comes. That honor would be the cherry on top of my career.”

Thursday is the 25-year anniversary of Lex Luger defeating Hollywood Hogan to win the WCW World Championship on the August 4, 1997 edition of Nitro.

Mick Foley not bothered by Undertaker WWE Hall of Fame speech omission

Mick Foley isn’t bothered that he wasn’t mentioned in The Undertaker’s WWE Hall of Fame speech.

Last month, The Undertaker was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as the headlining member of the 2022 class. While introducing The Undertaker, Vince McMahon mentioned Foley when running down a long list of Undertaker’s past opponents, but Undertaker didn’t talk about Foley during his speech.

Foley’s daughter Noelle tweeted about the omission: “That was a great speech, but I’m very surprised there was not one single mention of my dad and their legendary matches together. Obviously I understand it’s difficult to fit everything into one speech and remember every single person you want to mention. But it just would have been really nice to hear my dad’s name mentioned.”

Foley was asked about the reaction to the omission during an appearance on the In The Kliq podcast. Foley said he wasn’t hurt that The Undertaker didn’t mention him — so no one can be hurt on his behalf.

“Well, listen, I forgot to mention my wife during my speech, so I’m not one to lecture anybody about who they should and should not include in their speech,” Foley joked. “I was not there in those formative years and his [speech] was more about friendship and support. We had a great rivalry, but he didn’t mention Rock or Austin, and he and Austin had some classics as well. So if I’m not hurt, no one can be hurt on behalf of me.”

WWE Hall of Fame live coverage: The Undertaker, Vader, Sharmell, Steiners

A WrestleMania week tradition returns to normalcy as WWE’s first in-person Hall of Fame ceremony since 2019 takes place tonight.

The 2022 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will air live on Peacock/WWE Network at 10 p.m. Eastern time tonight. The ceremony is being held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas following tonight’s SmackDown.

One of the most iconic characters in pro wrestling history will take their place in the WWE Hall of Fame as The Undertaker is inducted tonight. Undertaker will be inducted by Vince McMahon.

Vader, Queen Sharmell, and The Steiner Brothers (Rick & Scott Steiner) are also part of this year’s Hall of Fame class. Vader is being posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame after passing away in 2018.

Sharmell will be inducted by her husband Booker T.

Plus, the late Shad Gaspard will be honored with the 2022 Warrior Award. Gaspard died in 2020 after getting caught in a rip current while swimming in Venice Beach, California. Gaspard heroically saved his son by directing rescuers to save his son instead of him.

**********

We opened up with a video package focussed on the history of the WWE Hall of Fame and those who have been inducted. It then transitioned into a video package on this year’s inductees.

Corey Graves and Kayla Braxton served as hosts from a podium set up in the ring.

The Steiner Brothers induction

The Steiner Brothers are the first to be inducted. A video package recapping their careers aired next.

Bron Breakker is introduced and will induct his father and uncle. He opened his speech talking about growing up in the Steiner family and said Rick and Scott provided the foundation for him to be a wrestler today. He said he was going to take the biggest risk of his career and hand the microphone over to his uncle, Scott.

Rick and Scott Steiner walk to the ring. Scott starts off by asking where all his “freaks are in Texas.” He thanked all the tag teams they’ve wrestled in the past. Scott told a story about traveling with “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Him and Savage pulled over to the side of the road one day and had a competition to see who could get some cows to come to them the fastest. He then told today’s performers to have fun and enjoy the moment.

Scott continued to talk about how being world champion was a great time in his life but his best time was when he met and married his wife. He said his greatest legacy is his two boys.

Rick then got on the microphone and joked about not being left any time. He said it is an honor to be part of this year’s class of inductees. Rick thanked his family for putting up with his travel schedule. He also thanked Scott, who is a little teary-eyed at this point. Rick then led the crowd with some dog barks.

Queen Sharmell induction

A video package recapping Queen Sharmell’s run in WWE aired. The package also covered her time as a Nitro girl in WCW. Rey Mysterio, Bianca Belair, Zelina Vega, and Natalya all talked about what they enjoyed about her performances. .

Booker T was introduced to induct his wife. He talked about going into the HOF in 2013 and again in 2019 with his brother as Harlem Heat. Booker said his wife has made him a better man and gave him two kids. He said his run as King Booker was about Sharmell, because she’s always been his Queen.

Queen Sharmell makes her entrance. Booker repeats “All hail! Queen Sharmell” as she does so. The Dallas crowd gave her the “You deserve it!” chant. She said her story was about a Nitro girl who became a Queen. She also thanked Madusa, Molly Holly, Victoria, and Jazz. Sharmell also thanked Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, the Boogeyman, and every Superstar she’s worked with. She thanked Booker for the “run of a lifetime” and delivered her “All Hail! King Booker!” line. Johnny Ace and Bruce Prichard got thanked as well.

She mentioned their Reality of Wrestling promotion and it serving as a feeder system for WWE. Sharmell thanked her hometown, friends, brother Ron, her mother, and her and Booker’s twins. She turned her attention to Booker again, who is getting pretty teary eyed at this point, calling him her “fairy tale come true.” This was a very well-polished speech.

Shad Gaspard Warrior Award induction

A video package recapping Gaspard’s life and career aired. It also focussed on his relationship with his son. Finally, the video covered the final moments of Shad’s life when he instructed rescuers to save his son before him after being caught in a riptide.

Dana Warrior was introduced to give out the Warrior award. She said Shad is the definition of a hero and a warrior. Warrior then introduced Shad’s wife and son who came out with JTG.

Shad’s son Aryeh and JTG re-created some of Cryme Thyme’s entrance moves. Siliana Gaspard spoke about how Shad would risk his life to help others without a second thought. A “Shad’s a hero” chant rings out through the arena. She also mentioned he stopped an armed robbery at a gas station in 2016. He also saved the couple’s dog from an abduction. Siliana talked about how Shad would always tell his son to be a sheepdog, who protect the flock of sheep from wolves. She turned her attention to her son, and said that the best of Shad lives in him and that he comes from a great man.

She closed by reciting a quote that Shad loved, “Women are remembered for what they are, men are remembered for what they do.”

Vader induction

A video package on Vader’s career aired. Ron Simmons, Big E, Booker T, and Mick Foley all made comments.

Vader’s son Jesse accompanied by his mother, Debra, came out to induct his father. Jesse said his watch wasn’t working and asked the fans if they could help him figure out what time it was, which led to fans yelling, “Vader time.” His wife Debra said she knows Vader is looking down and has a big smile on his face. Jesse thanked the fans for putting food on his plate.

Jesse talked about Vader’s career and then commented on how good of a father he was. He said Vader missed half his childhood on the road but did a lot with the time he did had. Jesse said that if there was a Hall of Fame for being a father, he would have been in it a long time ago. Jesse told everyone to throw up the “V” with their hands and then asked everyone what time it is and the fans responded, “It’s time, it’s time, it’s Vader time!”

The camera focused on Vader’s old mask/helmet that shot out smoke as we cut to video packages for WrestleMania.

The Undertaker induction

A video package recapping the Undertaker’s career airs. Clips of Shawn Michaels, JBL, Vince McMahon, Batista, Shane McMahon, Kurt Angle, Roman Reigns, Steve Austin, Triple H, Edge commenting on the Undertaker’s career aired.

Vince McMahon was introduced to induct Taker into the Hall of Fame. He said tonight is always his favorite night of the year because he gets to thank all of the inductees. Vince said there is no one more deserving of the honor than the man they are going to induct tonight. He said he would list off some of Taker’s opponents but made a joke about reading them quickly so he’s not interrupted with “What?” chants. He then listed off several of the Undertaker’s opponents from over the years.

Vince told a story about filming the Shotgun Saturday episode where Taker gave Triple H a tombstone on an escalator. He also told a story about Undertaker waiting for five hours to shoot a scene in a graveyard. Vince talked about Undertaker’s loyalty and how WCW knew to never call him because he’d never answer.

The crowd started to “What?” Vince a little and he warned them he was going to have the Undertaker come out there and “kick their ass.”

Vince said that you can’t accomplish what Taker has done without having a love for the business. He then introduced the Deadman to come out.

Taker came out to his classic music, lighting, and smoke. He walked to the ring and hugged Vince. An “Undertaker” chant rings out throughout the arena. There is a long applause break as Taker looks to be a little teary-eyed. The crowd then begins to chant, “You deserve it” followed by a “Taker, Taker, Taker” chant. A “Thank you, Taker” chant follows before Undertaker has even said a word.

“For the last 30 years, my identity has been Undertaker, The Phenom, the Deadman, the American Badass, and the Taker of Souls. Tonight, I’m going to take you behind the curtain and meet the man under the black hat, Mark Calaway,” he began his speech.

Taker said he loves this business but that it doesn’t come without sacrifice. He thanked the WWE Universe, calling them loyal and passionate. Taker continued that tonight is not just about him, it’s about “each and everyone of you.”

He told a story of asking his brother for advice when he was about 20 years-old. He asked his brother if he should graduate college, go overseas and play basketball, or what he should do with his life. He said his heart was already into wrestling at that point. Taker also knew that his parents and teammates would be upset with him if he stepped away from basketball, however. His brother said he can’t live his life based on what his parents or teammates want him to do.

Taker also talked about some of his “mental signature moves.” One of the earliest lessons he learned came from Vince. He told the story of working with an enhancement talent one day who was screwing up several of his moves. So, Taker started to rough him up a bit. Backstage after the match, Vince told him that “perception is reality” and the reality is everyone thought he was an a**hole for what he did. He said the lesson he took from this that his actions matter.

Taker then turned his attention to Stephanie McMahon. He said he thinks of her as the “little sister he never wanted.” Taker then talked about Shane McMahon and traveling with him. He then spoke about the Godfather, referring to him as a big influence in his life, but not necessarily a positive one.

Taker then mentioned the “BSK” but noted he’s going to take his stories to the grave with him. He talked about Yokozuna being a co-founder of the BSK. Taker said traveling up the roads, drinking whiskey and playing dominoes was the beginning of a forever brotherhood. He also mentioned Bryan Adams, calling him “another brother taken too soon,” and said he thinks about him every day. He talked about his last moments with Adams when they learned to break bricks with their barehands together.

Taker spoke about Paul Bearer, calling him a vital part of the Undertaker character. He talked about how Bearer would put cucumbers in his drink as a joke. Then he spoke about Kane, who got a nice reaction from the crowd. He called theirs the greatest story wrestling ever told. Taker made a crack about Kane stealing all his moves as well.

Taker then mentioned his second “mental signature move.” He told the story of being 25-years-old and having won his first world championship. His father warned him to pay his taxes, live within his means, and then told him, “the toes you step on on the way to the top are connected to the same asses that you’re going to have to kiss on the way back down.” The lesson he took from this is to always treat people with respect.

He thanked guys like Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, Ricky Steamboat, Andre the Giant, Bruno Sammartino, Bret Hart, and Ric Flair for paving the way for his generation and the generations to come. He thanked several people who helped him throughout his career and his team of doctors as well.

His third “mental signature move” he learned at WrestleMania 25 with Shawn Michaels. Taker talked about Michael Hayes telling them they were on third and they would only have 15 minutes. He said they raised hell, were put on a little later on the card, given more time and then had a classic match. He thanked Shawn for giving him one of the best matches of his career. Taker said that this taught him to never be content. No matter what you have already achieved, continue to push through.

Taker then turned his attention to Triple H. He said working with him was effortless. Taker thanked him for reminding him who he really is at a time when he needed it.

He then said that nobody has sacrificed more than his family. He spoke about his kids and being proud of them. Taker thanked his parents and told a story about wrestling Sid Vicious with his family in the second row and his mother wanting to attack Sid.

He then spoke about his wife, Michelle. He called her the rock that their family is built on. Taker said the greatest thing she ever did was help restore his relationship with Jesus Christ.

He turned his attention to Vince McMahon. He spoke about how when WCW didn’t think he’d ever draw money, Vince gave him a shot. He called him a father figure to him, especially after his dad passed away. Taker called him one of his closest friends and thanked him for the gift of the Undertaker and the gift of his friendship.

He said there is no one like the WWE Universe. He told them they can’t live their lives for anyone other than them. Taker encouraged them to practice is three mental moves, “perception is reality,” “respect and loyalty go a long way” and “never be content.” He closed by saying that now that he’s in the Hall of Fame he will “Rest. In. Peace.”

Taker then put on one of his signature jackets and hat before saying, “Never say never” before exiting the ring.

The Steiner Brothers to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

One of the greatest tag teams of all time is set to take their place in the WWE Hall of Fame.

It was announced via The Ringer today that The Steiner Brothers (Rick & Scott Steiner) will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this Friday. They join The Undertaker, Vader, Queen Sharmell, and Warrior Award recipient Shad Gaspard in this year’s Hall of Fame class.

The Hall of Fame ceremony is taking place after SmackDown at the American Airlines Center in Dallas this Friday night. The ceremony will air live on Peacock/WWE Network.

The Steiner Brothers were seven-time WCW Tag Team Champions together, two-time WWF Tag Team Champions, and two-time IWGP Tag Team Champions. Rick and Scott Steiner are both also former WCW United States and WCW Television Champions, while Scott held the WCW World Championship one time.

This will be the first time that Scott Steiner has appeared for WWE in nearly two decades. Scott was banned from attending the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony after an incident with Hulk Hogan’s then-wife where he allegedly threatened Hogan.

The day after the Hall of Fame ceremony, Rick Steiner’s son Bron Breakker will challenge Dolph Ziggler for the NXT Championship at NXT Stand & Deliver. Rick was in the audience when Breakker won the NXT title for the first time this January. Though Rick wasn’t shown during the episode, WWE uploaded video of Rick celebrating Breakker’s title win with him after the show went off the air:
