Joey Janela vs. Shawn Spears added to AEW Full Gear

A new match has been added to Full Gear.

Joey Janela will face Shawn Spears in a singles match. This was confirmed on the AEW Countdown show that was posted shortly after Dynamite ended tonight.

The feud started on the episode of AEW Dark that aired Tuesday. Tully Blanchard, who manages Spears, approached Janela backstage towards the end of the show and said he didn’t like how Janela treated him the last time they met, which was on an episode of Being the Elite. Spears then attacked Janela, jamming cigarettes down Janela’s throat as the show ended.

On Dynamite tonight, Spears defeated Brandon Cutler in a quick match and continued to attack him after the bell rang, setting up a death valley driver on a steel chair. Janela came out for the save, driving off Spears.

Full Gear will take place this Saturday, November 9, at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.

Tully Blanchard agrees to multi-show deal with AEW

Tully Blanchard has joined AEW as an “exclusive advisor” to Shawn Spears.

A press release was sent out today confirming that Blanchard has entered a “multi-show agreement” with AEW.

The press release was mostly in storyline. AEW’s Tony Khan was quoted as saying “Shawn Spears’ new advisor Tully Blanchard is a legendary retired wrestler and a canny tactician known worldwide for his vicious streak and penchant for chicanery. Given the challenge that Shawn has issued to Cody for a match at ALL OUT as well as the long, bitter history between Tully and the Rhodes family, plus Shawn’s recent behavior in AEW, it appears that Tully Blanchard has a great deal of influence over Shawn’s intents and actions. This indicates that going forward Shawn Spears will be one of the most feared and unpredictable wrestlers in AEW.”

Blanchard appeared at the end of the Road to All Out video that premiered last night. He interrupted a discussion between Jim Ross and Spears and told Ross that the discussion was over.
