Lei Ying Lee wins TNA Knockouts title at WWE NXT Gold Rush night two

The Knockouts Championship is back in TNA.

At NXT Gold Rush night two, which aired on Tuesday, Lei Ying Lee defeated Kelani Jordan and Jordynne Grace in a triple threat match to win the TNA Knockouts Championship for the first time. The finish had Grace connecting with a spinning backfist and a powerbomb, but Lee entered the ring and took out Grace with a kick, covering Jordan to win the championship and take it back home to TNA.

After the match, TNA President Carlos Silva handed the title to an emotional Lee, who hugged him afterwards.

Jordan won the title in a surprise back at Bound for Glory. Then-champion Ash by Elegance was originally set to defend the title against Indi Hartwell. However, Ash announced that she had to step away from in-ring competition and vacated the title. Jordan won a battle royal then wrestled Hartwell on the same show, winning the championship.

In the weeks following her title win, Jordan adopted a heel attitude, creating tension between herself and former Knockouts Champion Grace.

The TNA Knockouts title changed hands on Sunday, with Ash by Elegance winning the title and bringing it back home to TNA. The finish had Jacy Jayne hit Masha Slamovich with the rolling encore, but the Elegance Brand at ringside pulled Jaye out of the ring as she went for the cover. This gave Ash the opportunity to hit Slamovich with the swanton bomb, pinning her to become champion.

Jayne had held the title for a little over a month, defeating Slamovich to become a double champion. She remains the NXT Women’s Champion and is next set to defend the title against Lola Vice at WWE NXT No Mercy next month.

Meanwhile, Darkstate were successful in their attempt to defeat Hank & Tank for the NXT Tag Team titles. It was Osiris Griffin and Dion Lennox that represented Darkstate, winning after Cutler James interfered, allowing Lennox and Griffin to hit a doomsday device on Tank for the win.

In the main event, Oba Femi successfully retained the title against Je’Von Evans. After the match, Ricky Starks came out and the two had a staredown as the show went off the air.

Jacy Jayne is a double champion.

Jayne won the TNA Knockouts title at Sunday’s Slammiversary, pinning Masha Slamovich in a match where both the Knockouts and NXT Women’s Championship were on the line. As a result, Jayne has become the first person ever to simultaneously hold titles in both companies.

The finish of the match had Jazmyn Nyx and Fallon Henley at ringside interfere, only for Xia Brookside and Lei Ying Lee to come out and brawl with them into the crowd. Slamovich hit the Snow Plow and got a visual pinfall, but the referee was down after Jayne connected with an inadvertent superkick. The two traded nearfalls until Slamovich was sent into the ring post, then was pinned followig rolling encore by Jayne.

Slamovich had been champion since October of last year, defeating Jordynne Grace at Bound for Glory. She had been making appearances on NXT television in the weeks leading to the double title match, teaming with Sol Ruca and Zaria to defeat Fatal Attraction on this week’s NXT.

Jayne has held the NXT Women’s Championship since May 27, when she defeated Stephanie Vaquer in a surprise on an episode of NXT.
