Impact Wrestling results: Impact faces off with AAA

Previously: GFW Global Champion Eli Drake defeated Johnny Impact to retain his title.

Tonight: James Storm & Ethan Carter III take on El Hijo Del Fantasma & Texano.

Show Recap —

– An in memoriam graphic paying tribute to Lance Russell aired. It was followed by a “Pray for Vegas” graphic.

– Eli Drake and Chris Adonis came down to the ring to open the episode. Drake bragged about beating Johnny Impact last week and revealed that Impact isn’t at the show. He took off his jacket and gave it his finisher — The Gravy Train. Drake got Adonis a match tonight against Garza Jr. Adonis wasn’t happy about the surprise match.

Chris Adonis defeated Garza Jr. by DQ

Drake joined the commentary team for the match and Adonis dominated the action early on. Garza was able to hit a hurricanrana, but he missed an attempt at a plancha.

Backstage, Johnny Impact arrived at the Impact Zone. Drake ran off from the commentary booth. In the ring, Garza made a comeback and scored a close near fall. Impact ran in and attacked Adonis for the disqualification, while Drake and Garza ended up brawling.

Jim Cornette then ran out and made a match between Impact and Garza for next week, with the winner getting a Global Championship title shot at Bound for Glory.

– Moose was on the phone and searching for Bobby Lashley. He arrived at the American Top Team gym and told the person on the phone he didn’t need their help.

– At the LAX Clubhouse, Konnan was irate that Santana and Ortiz lost the belts last week. This erupted into a heated argument.

GFW Global Tag Team Champions OVE defeated Jon Bolen & Trey Miguel

OVE dominated the match and picked up the easy win with a version of Total Elimination.

– Knockouts Champion Sienna and KM came down to the ring. Sienna was upset that she doesn’t have a title defense at Bound for Glory. She thinks it’s because she defeated all the women and will have to start fighting men soon. She then assumed she knows what Impact Wrestling has planned and announced that she’s the newest inductee into the Hall of Fame.

This brought out Gail Kim, who demanded a championship match at BFG. Taryn Terrell came down to the ring and pointed out that Kim has never defeated her. Terrell challenged Kim, which brought out Allie. She wanted a title shot too, and out came Karen Jarrett. She announced Sienna defending against Kim, Terrell, and Allie at Bound for Glory.

– Joseph Park organized a very successful autograph signing for Grado where he charged $100 per autograph.

Sonjay Dutt, Petey Williams & Matt Sydal defeated Trevor Lee, Andrew Everett & Caleb Konley

Everett and Lee were partners here despite being bitter rivals not long ago. The heels were in firm control, but the faces made a comeback by hitting suicide dives to the floor. The faces cut off Konley from his corner and worked him over, then Everett kneed Dutt in the back and the heels took over.

The heels isolated Dutt in their corner until Williams got the hot tag and ran wild. Sydal caught Everett with a hurricanrana and hit the shooting star press for the win.

After the match, Dutt, Williams, and Sydal all demanded an X Division title shot at Bound for Glory.

– Moose entered the American Top Team gym. He shoved Dan Lambert, then ATT jumped Moose and beat him down in the Octagon. ATT threw Moose out of the gym.

El Hijo Del Fantasma & Texano defeated James Storm & Ethan Carter III

Early on, Storm and EC3 weren’t working well together. Fantasma caught Storm from behind and the AAA team took over. EC3 and Storm finally worked together and briefly gained the advantage, but the heels took back control by isolating EC3. Pagano made his way to ringside, which distracted Storm as EC3 tried to make the tag.

Fantasma missed a big splash and Storm got the hot tag. Storm ran wild and scored a very close near fall on Fantasma. Pagano distracted Storm as AAA regained control. Storm tried to suplex Fantasma into the ring, but Pagano grabbed Storm’s legs and enabled Fantasma to score the win.

– At the LAX clubhouse, they made up after their earlier argument. They will challenge OVE to a 5150 street fight at Bound for Glory.

Next Week: Johnny Impact vs. Garza Jr. with the winner getting a GFW Global Championship title shot at Bound for Glory.

Lucha Underground results: Cage & Texano conclude their series

A recap video shows Angelico being taken out by the Worldwide Underground, and a rundown of the best-of-five series between Cage and Texano. We see Vampiro telling Prince Puma that he needs to do to Mil Muertes what Muertes did to Konnan before going to Vampiro’s temple.

Vampiro tells Puma to rise and tells him that his journey into darkness begins tonight. He makes Puma his new pledge. Puma declares his loyalty to Vampiro and says he’s his master. Matt Striker and Vampiro chat for a bit, but don’t really hype up the card much. Jeremiah Crane roams around for a bit in the ring.

Jeremiah Crane defeated Mil Muertes

Crane pump kicks Muertes to start, but then eats a tackle and Muertes dominates him with a series of corner lariats. A snap powerslam wipes him out even further. Catrina licks her hand and she rubs her finger across his forehead. Puma comes down and cane shots Muertes, leading to a pump kick win for Crane.

So now we’ve got Crane as an enemy of Muertes, and that tying into his girlfriend Ivelisse’s issues with Catrina. Puma beats down Muertes and Vampiro looks on with pride. Instead of kneeling on the seal, Puma kneels towards Vampiro.

A random long-haired brunette man and Sexy Star have a wacky mixed-language meeting with him giving her a gift box. She opens the box to reveal a spider. And then she roars.

Texano works out before Famous B introduces himself. Famous B tells Texano that he can help him connect, and he won’t even make him call 423-GET-FAME. Vampiro tells Striker that whatever is between he and Puma should be left alone. This ties into day one of the show with Vampiro loving Puma’s work, but not approving of his choice of mentor.

Jack Evans & PJ Black defeated Son of Havoc & Angelico

Angelico starts and gets a huge chant to begin things. Evans and Angelico flip around for a bit before Evans references their team in AAA before Havoc comes in. PJ grabs the beard, but Havoc gets the handspring elbow. Angelico tags in and hits a series of lariats to PJ. Angelico hits Jack with an outside-in knee strike. Angelico separates his elbow, leading to Evans hitting a slam and getting the win.

Dario Cueto opens a blue-glowing box before Sexy Star yells about Mariposa. She wants a match with her and Dario gives it to her.

Texano defeated Cage in the fourth match of their best-of-five series

Cage boots Texano before Texano hits a Death Valley Driver on the knee for two. Texano gets two off a roll-up. Cage eats an exposed turnbuckle, busting him open. A running elbow hits hard and Texano hits a sit-out powerbomb to get the win and make the series even with two wins apiece.

Dario comes out of his office and says that the opportunity is amazing, and he doesn’t want to wait — match five is next!

Cage defeated Texano to win their best-of-five series

Cage is out on his feet, and Dario makes it an anything goes match. Texano wipes Cage’s blood on his chest and stomps a mudhole into him in the corner. Cage blocks a kick and DDTs him down. Cage goes up top and gets kicked before Texano hits a rana off the top. Texano hits a somersault senton over the top for two. Cage rolls out of a sunset flip and hits a sliding dropkick. Cage sidesteps Texano to send him out before Cage hits a flip dive to the floor. Texano gets sent into Dario’s office wall and then Cage hits him with a keg.

They fight into the bleachers and Cage hits a suplex on Texano — and it wasn’t pretty. He barely got him up and just tossed him down. They fight back down to the ring with Cage leaving blood wherever he goes.

They fight into the “corridors and conduits” of the building, as Striker calls them. They’re just fighting in the crowd and Striker talks about lactic acid buildup becoming an issue. Texano celebrates for a second and Cage hits hard before the crowd claps the Terminator theme. Cage gets tossed off of the crowd area before Texano dives on him.

Texano tosses Cage into a sea of chairs before hitting him with an unprotected chair shot to the head on the floor. Texano grabs the bull rope and whips him a few times. Vampiro talks about Rick Martel being taken out for quite some time by Stan Hansen with shots like that. Cage recovers and hits a running chair shot for two.

Striker puts this over like it’s an all-time classic. Cage hits a flying knee, but the discus lariat misses and Texano locks on a crossface, but Cage rolls him into a two count. A discus lariat hits for a near fall! Cage grabs the bullwhip and takes it to Texano before laying him out with a Steiner Screwdriver to win the series.

Dario tells Cage that he has won the ultimate opportunity — and it’s so powerful, he can’t give it to him in front of the believers. They’re too weak-minded, so he invites him into his office.

Striker hypes up Mack vs. Mundo next week and Dario opens up a box and offers Cage an amulet. Cage puts it on and gains the power of several dozen Cages and chokes Dario while lightning flows through the amulet. Cage accepts the offering and leaves.

Well, this was a fun, fairly focused show. They got Cage over as a pretty top-level guy here and the amulet does give him a unique gimmick — even in this promotion.

Lucha Underground results: Johnny Mundo vs. Cage; Taya Valkyrie debuts

The show opens with a recap of Mundo and Cage talking smack last week before transitioning to Texano beating up Chavo. The recap ends with Cage kicking Mundo’s ass and hitting Weapon X. We hear a monologue about how “Ian just thought Vampiro was a voice in the head” and how Vampiro would be freed from Ian’s mind thanks to using Pentagon Jr. So basically, “Vampiro” is like the alien symbiote in Spider-Man.

Striker and black rimmed glasses Vamp welcome us to the show. Jack Evans interrupts Melissa Santos and tells the crowd to be quiet – the hero they didn’t know they had was trying to speak.

PJ Black vs. Jack Evans

Striker gets in his second “Dr. Black” reference in regards to PJ Black, and Evans gets a cheapshot to the gut off a handshake. PJ lands some shots, but gets crotched up top briefly. German suplex gets 2, and Black lands a suplex after Evans goes for a spinning headscissors. Striker gets off a wacky line and Vamp threatens to take away his notes. Drago is in the crowd looking “Lucifer-iffic” according to Striker.  Evans talks smack and tosses a water bottle at Drago, so he comes down. This distraction lets PJ hit the Black Diamond lifting cutter for 2.5, but a mist attempt misses, hits Black and the bridging backslide wins for Evans.

Famous B gets a wacky ’80s used car salesman ad saying that if you call his number, he’ll make ya famous! This was hilarious, and had a VHS filter on that is perfect for El Rey. King Cuerno is just in the ring for a match, against Killshot.

King Cuerno vs. Killshot

Lots of chops and kicks to start this off. Killshot sends him to the floor with a nasty chop and gets a flip dive. Cuerno recovers and goes for a Thrill of the Hunt off the apron to the floor, but it gets countered into a cutter off the apron instead. We get a boo/yay punch exchange that turns into a chop exchange. A nasty single leg dropkick hits from Cuerno! Killshot goes for a middle rope moonsault, but eats a kick to the gut. They go for tombstones and counters before Killshot decides “no, the TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER isn’t enough – and gets a gutbuster”. Cuerno recovers and hits the Thrill of the Hunt to win. Cuerno goes for the Thrill of the Kill piledriver, but Fenix saves Killshot. Next, Taxano faces Chavo and the Crew in a gauntlet match.

Texano vs. The Crew and Chavo Guerrero – Gauntlet Match

Chavo sends Mr. Cisco out first. Texano superkicks him while Striker says that Lt. Loco is losing it. Chavo distracts him, so Castro can attack – but he eats a back elbow. Corner lariats hit for Texano, but he then eats a high kick in the corner. Tornado DDT gets 2 for Castro. Castro goes for a La Magistrol, but Texano gets one of his own after a wacky lucha setup. Discus elbow by Castro leads to him running in and eating a powerbomb for the win. Chavo jumps Texano and gets 2. Shortarm lariat hits for Chavo, and Striker calls him a man who was at one point one of the best in the world. Vamp rightfully buries him for this. Texano runs wild with a big forearm smash in the corner. Big backdrop hits for Texano. Texano goes for a suplex on the apron, but Castro uses the bullrope to hold the foot down ala Heenan doing so to Warrior to give Rude the win at WrestleMania V.

375 miles from Boyle Heights, Matanza kills some dudes inside the warehouse. Dario tells Black Lotus that she started a war, and that their mother hurt Dario and Matanza. One day, he stood up to her and he wasn’t strong enough then to back up his words. Matanza saved him from a hot iron, but Matanza hit her with the red bull decoration until he killed her. For Dario, it was a happy memory and he leaned how much he loved violence that day. Catrina saunters around the Temple and Pentagon Jr. tells her that the needs to go teach Prince Puma a lesson.

She tells him that she has no reason to give him the match, and as is customary, a wacky kung fu movie fight broke out. Pentagon wins and gets her in the arm snapper position – so she gives him his match, disappears, reappears in the other corner and tells him he’s got his match, but he has made the biggest mistake he could ever make. Johnny Mundo comes out to face Cage. Cage is still a machine.

Johnny Mundo vs. Cage

Mundo slaps him to start and takes him down for some mounted punches. They get up and Mundo gets some gut punches and then eats a hopefully low-carb lariat. Hiptoss into a neckbreaker lands for Cage. They fight up top and Johnny hops down the apron to kick Cage. They go to the floor and Mundo gets a step-up dive using the ringpost! Mundo grinds him down with a chinlock. Mundo avoids a pumphandle and Mundo lands a calf kick. Cage lands a backdrop and hits a lariat. Cage gets 2 off a sitout Albama slam-style powerbomb.

Mundo gets his back/neckbreaker combo and goes for the End of the World, but gets stopped and chopped for 2. Mundo lands a superkick on the apron and slides through for a sunset flip for 2. Mundo’s foot is caught and hits a flip kick, but eats a Lucha Destroyer for 2. Flying Chuck hits for Mundo, but the End of the World misses. Discus lariat hits and he stares at Mil. Weapon X hits before Taya Valkyrie comes out. Mundo cracks him in the head with a lead pipe to win. Taya and Johnny put the furry boots to Cage. Taya saunters into the corner and lands a pair of shotgun knees to the face.

Cuerno goes to Catrina’s office and says that Fenix won’t die and he’s tired of carrying the title around – he wants his title match. Catrina tells him that he’ll get a match – against Fenix for the Gift of the Gods Title. Catrina says that Fenix can fly, and she hopes Cuerno can too because it’s a ladder match.
