Young Bucks return on AEW Dynamite, stare down Sting & Darby Allin

The Young Bucks are back, and have already aimed their sights on a team.

At the end of AEW Dynamite, Tony Schaivone asked Sting who he would like to face in his retirement match, which will take place at AEW Revolution on March 3. Before Sting could answer, The Young Bucks’ music hit as they came out, sporting new mustaches. The two stared down both Sting and Allin in the ring as the show went off the air.

The Bucks were last seen in November, when they lost the AEW Tag Team title match opportunity they won at WrestleDream to Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega. After the match, both threw tantrums inside and outside of the ring, which they had also done in the weeks leading to the match.

After Full Gear, it was announced by Brandon Cutler that the long-running Being the Elite show on YouTube had ended. It was reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the team were looking to start a new group with Cutler. Colt Cabana’s name was also discussed for the group.

Sting tag team match booked for AEW Collision

On AEW Collision this Saturday night, Sting will wrestle in the city of Charlotte for the final time.

Saturday’s Collision episode is taking place from Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. AEW has announced that Sting & Darby Allin will face The Workhorsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry) on the show.

Sting is currently on a retirement tour that will conclude with him having the last match of his career at AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view in Greensboro, North Carolina on Sunday, March 3.

North Carolina is JD Drake’s home state. He tweeted about the tag match announcement:

Sting & Allin have also been announced for a tag match on Dynamite next Wednesday (January 10). They’re facing Konosuke Takeshita & Powerhouse Hobbs on Dynamite.

The updated card for Saturday’s Collision episode is listed below. The show airs live on TNT starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

AEW Collision (Saturday, January 6) —

  • Continental Crown Champion Eddie Kingston defends against Trent Beretta
  • FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs. House of Black (Malakai Black & Buddy Matthews)
  • Sting & Darby Allin vs. The Workhorsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry)

Sting & Darby Allin tag match announced for next AEW Dynamite

Sting and Darby Allin will team up on the Wednesday, January 10 AEW Dynamite episode.

AEW revealed during Wednesday’s show that Sting & Allin will team against Konosuke Takeshita & Powerhouse Hobbs of The Don Callis Family on next week’s Dynamite.

Takeshita defeated Allin in a singles match on this week’s episode. In a subsequent backstage interview, Don Callis issued the challenge to Allin & Sting on Takeshita & Hobbs’ behalf. AEW’s commentary team announced later in the program that Sting & Allin had accepted the challenge.

A key point of the Callis challenge promo was Sting’s 25-0 AEW record, a mark that it appears will be heavily focused in the build to Sting’s retirement match set for the Revolution pay-per-view in Greensboro, North Carolina on Sunday, March 3.

Sting, Allin, Chris Jericho, & Sammy Guevara defeated Takeshita, Hobbs, Big Bill, & Ricky Starks at last week’s Worlds End pay-per-view in an eight-man tag team contest.

AEW also announced that Samoa Joe will be at next week’s Dynamite. The show will take place at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.

AEW Dynamite January 10 announced lineup:

  • Sting & Darby Allin vs. Konosuke Takeshita & Powerhouse Hobbs
  • Samoa Joe appearance

Darby Allin: Being part of Sting’s final chapter is ‘super important’

Darby Allin believes “the most important part of a story is the end.”

The 30-year-old recently spoke with Forbes regarding the role he’s set to play in the final months of Sting’s in-ring career. Allin says being part of Sting’s final chapter is something “super important” to him.

“When I first got paired with Sting, I really did not know how it was gonna go,” Allin said. “But to be a part of the final chapter of his career is super important because to me, in a story, the most important part of the story is the end…If you tarnish the end, everyone’s always going to remember that.”

“(Sting) has gotten more hunger than a lot of the younger guys on the roster,” Allin said. “He’s got nothing to prove, but he pushes the boundaries every time he wrestles.”

Sting’s final match is set for AEW Revolution next year. The event typically runs in early March. Allin then plans on climbing Mount Everest the following month despite having no previous experience climbing mountains.

“I have zero mountain experience, like, zero. I don’t even know what I’m doing,” Allin said. “I just signed up, and I’ve got 6 months to train to climb Mount Everest.”

The company Allin hired to train him, New Zealand-based Adventure Consultants, told him that training for just six months to climb Mount Everest was “unheard of.” Most who attempt the feat do so after training for years.

Allin is scheduled to travel to New Zealand to continue his training later this month. The climb will take him roughly two and a half months to complete, meaning he’ll likely be off AEW programming for an extended period following Sting’s retirement.

Allin believes that his various stunts outside the ring have a crossover appeal with action sports fans and are helping expose potential new fans to AEW.

“I’m gonna go crazy outside the ring because I do feel like there’s a crossover with action sports fans that have never given wrestling a shot,” Allin explained. “So, if people see me going crazy and they’re like, ‘Oh let’s check out AEW. Let’s see what this is all about.’

Despite the physical toll his body has taken from both wrestling and his stunts outside the ring, Allin says he feels great physically.

“I really believe with everything that I’ve done and that I continue to do for my body, I’m gonna feel great for a long time, unless I, like, die on Mount Everest.”

AEW Collision live results: Sting, Darby Allin, Adam Copeland team up

A trios match with Sting, Darby Allin, and Adam Copeland will go down on Saturday’s Rampage.

The three will team together to take on Lance Archer and The Righteous, the latter of whom aligned themselves with Jake Roberts on last week’s Show. Sting, Allin, and Copleand will team ahead of next Saturday’s Full Gear, where they will take on Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne, the latter of whom will be in action Saturday taking on Dalton Castle.

Daniel Garcia, off his loss against MJF on this week’s Dynamite, will take on Andrade El Idolo. On last week’s Collision, Idolo said he would give CJ Perry an answer as to whether or not he’ll accept her as his new manager.

We’ll also hear from Hangman Page, who attacked Swerve Strickland on Wednesday’s Dynamite seeking revenge over Strickland’s invasion of his home several weeks ago.

Other matches announced include Roderick Strong taking on Darius Martin, Willow Nightingale against Julia Hart, and Rush & Dralistico teaming together to take on The WorkHorsemen.

Live coverage for Saturday’s show begins at 5 pm ET.

*****

The pre-roll videos saw comments from both teams in the main event trios tag team match, La Faccion Ingobernable, Powerhouse Hobbs, Daniel Garcia, and Andrade El Idolo. Sir Elton John played us into the show, as Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness were on the call. Kevin Kelly was “on assignment” for the week.

Andrade El Idolo (w/ CJ Perry) defeated Daniel Garcia

A quality opener here on Collision, as the Andrade/Perry pairing equaled success. An Andrade/Miro program has my interest. Meanwhile, Garcia chalked up another hard-fought loss here. I’m hoping he’s due for something substantial soon before the fans lose faith in him.

Andrade made his walk to the ring before being joined by CJ Perry, answering the question of whether he would accept her managerial services. Miro was seen watching from backstage. During the opening exchanges, it was announced that next week’s Collision would air on Friday night as part of a special three-hour block with Rampage.

Andrade caught Garcia with a low dropkick while they were running the ropes. Garcia came back after a scramble with a low dropkick of his own. Garcia elevated to the middle rope, but Andrade dropkicked him to the floor. Andrade set up the moonsault to the floor, but Garcia walked away before Andrade jumped.

Garcia ran around the ring to bait Andrade before eventually catching him with a Dragon Screw Leg Whip in the ropes. Garcia kneed Andrade off of the apron before turning his attention to Perry, doing his dance in her direction. Garcia caught Andrade with a rebound German suplex off the ropes as we went to commercial.

Garcia had Andrade ready for a superplex when we came back from commercial, but Andrade knocked him down with a headbutt. Garcia avoided another high cross body and caught Andrade in an ankle lock. Andrade rolled to his back and kicked his way free before landing a pair of Dragon Screws of his own. Andrade took Garcia down with a flying forearm before hitting the double knees in the corner for a nearfall.

Andrade went for a moonsault, but Garcia knocked him off of the ropes and went back to the ankle. Garcia hit a vertical suplex, but Andrade turned it into the Three Amigos. Garcia reversed the third amigo into a brainbuster for a nearfall. Andrade hit the double jump moonsault for a nearfall as the fans chanted This Is Awesome. They got into a strike exchange that ended with Andrade drilling Garcia with the back elbow. Andrade locked on the Figure Eight to score the submission win as Perry celebrated at ringside.

We got a recap of the mystery attack on The Acclaimed from Dynamite.

Nick Wayne (w/ Christian Cage & Luchasaurus) defeated Dalton Castle (w/ The Boys)

Interesting to see Castle back as a straight babyface after last week’s questionable actions against The Acclaimed. AEW usually does a better job of keeping up and explaining things like that.

After an opening exchange, Castle caught a Wayne boot and hit a side suplex out of the corner. Castle gut-wrenched Wayne a couple of times before hitting a gutwrench suplex. Castle kept Wayne on the mat with slams before Wayne wiggled to the apron and rung up Castle’s neck on the ropes. Wayne hit a running European uppercut for a nearfall.

Castle fought out of a Wayne headlock before firing up with a back elbow and a lariat. Castle snatched Wayne up for a pair of suplexes while staring down Christian and the TNT Title. Wayne rolled out of the Bangarang and went for Wayne’s World, but Castle caught him with a German Suplex.

Luchasaurus went to interfere, but the Boys cut him off. Luchasaurus gave them both a chokeslam for their troubles. Cage took the referee’s attention, allowing Wayne to send Castle into the ring post before hitting Wayne’s World for the win.

Hangman Page was backstage. He was disappointed in what Swerve Strickland had chosen to do with his opportunities, cheating his way to a win at WrestleDream and entering Page’s home. Page announced that their rematch at Full Gear would be a Texas Death Match. Page told Swerve to cherish his moments while he could because he would drag Swerve to hell. But Page would be sure to take his son to piss on Swerve’s grave. A fiery promo from Page setting up a big-time match for Full Gear.

La Faccion Ingobernable (Dralistico & Rush) (w/ Presten Vance & Jose The Assistant) defeated The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake)

Dralistico had trouble with the Workhorsemen before getting the tag out to Rush, who lit Drake up with chops. Rush sent Henry to the floor as we went to a commercial. After the commercial, Rush feigned the Bull’s Horns on Drake before tagging him with a boot. Rush avoided a Henry double stomp before dropping Drake with a powerslam.

LFI hit a double-team on Drake before Rush went for the Bull’s Horns, but Henry dragged Rush out of the ring. The WorkHorsemen hit a double team on Dralistico for a nearfall before hitting a flurry on Dralistico in the corner. Rush swept Henry’s feet from under him on the apron as Dralistico avoided a Drake moonsault. LFI ran wild on both men before Rush ended proceedings with the Bull’s Horns on Drake.

After the match, House of Black appeared on the screen. They had an issue with LFI, so Black had the idea of taking what LFI wanted so they would have to chase them. On behalf of Black, Brody King challenged Ricky Starks & Big Bill for the AEW World Tag Team Titles at Full Gear. Julia Hart was upset that Willow Nightingale & Skye Blue kept rejecting her “gift”, so Hart made a challenge. If she could beat Nightingale tonight, Kris Statlander would give her a rematch for the TBS Title at Full Gear.

(A busy segment with several developments for Full Gear. I think there will be more to the Tag Team Title match.)

Kris Statlander & Willow Nightingale were backstage with Lexy Nair. As it turns out, Statlander will be defending her TBS Title in a three-way match at Full Gear. The two challengers will be the winners of the Julia Hart/Willow Nightingale match tonight, and the Skye Blue/Red Velvet match next week. Statlander awkwardly wished Nightingale luck.

(This story with Statlander, Nightingale, Blue, and Hart has been very clunky, mostly due to the anti-charisma that the babyfaces have with each other.)

Roderick Strong (w/ The Kingdom) defeated Darius Martin

Roderick Strong is one of the most consistently great wrestlers of all time, in my opinion. My hope is that we get more of Strong in the ring instead of more silly pre-tapes.

Strong rolled out in his wheelchair before powering his way into the ring. The fans chanted Neck Strong during the opening exchanges. Martin took Strong down with a dropkick. Martin hit a flurry of strikes in the corner before hitting a high crossbody for a nearfall. Strong took Martin’s knee out from under him before scoring with a backbreaker. Strong lit Martin up with chops before hitting another backbreaker. Strong hit the ten punches in the corner, but Martin fought back and sent Strong into the turnbuckle sternum-first. Martin ran into a dropkick from Strong for a nearfall.

Martin fired up on Strong, popping Strong with chops before hitting a run-up Pele Kick for a nearfall. Martin hit a bulldog into the ropes, but Strong drilled Martin with a jumping knee on his way back into the ring. Strong hit the Sick Kick and the End of Heartache to score the win. After the match, Bennett punched Martin low before The Kingdom hit the Hail Mary on Martin. Action Andretti ran off the Kingdom as they wheeled Strong away.

Tony Khan & Bryan Danielson were backstage. He talked about Danielson’s retirement tour before talking about how this year’s All In missed the presence of several of AEW’s top stars due to injury, including Danielson. Khan said that Danielson would be a part of All In 2024 before they plugged the on-sale date and pre-sale signups for Wembley.

Khan then announced the first-ever Continental Classic, a round-robin tournament featuring 12 of AEW’s top stars wrestling weekly. The tournament starts on November 22nd in Chicago, with the final television matches taking place on December 27th in Orlando, Florida. The tournament finals would take place at the Worlds End PPV on December 30th. Khan announced that, against all odds, Bryan Danielson would be cleared to participate in the Continental Classic. Danielson said that nothing would stop him from being in this tournament and making it the best wrestling tournament ever.

(Now this was an announcement worthy of hype! A G1-style tournament on AEW television sounds fantastic. A simple way of having great, meaningful matches on television every week. My excitement levels are high for the inaugural Continental Classic.)

TBS Title Qualifying Match: Julia Hart (w/ Brody King) defeated Willow Nightingale

Outside of the awkward spot near the end, this was a high-level TV match. Julia Hart has become a real-deal prospect in the women’s division, as her performances in longer matches have been exceptional.

Nightingale sent Hart into the corner and barked at King at ringside. Nightingale went for a cannonball before King pulled Hart out of the ring and barked back at her. Nightingale avoided a sneak attack and went back on the offensive, hitting a low crossbody for a nearfall. Nightingale locked on the Gory Special as Skye Blue watched from ringside. Nightingale wrenched Hart back, but Hart choked her way free. Nightingale cut off a headscissor attempt, dropping Hart with a sidewalk slam.

Hart rung up Nightingale on the ropes before dragging her to the floor. Nightingale suplexed Hart on the floor as we went to commercial. Nightingale took Hart down with a lariat as we came back from the commercial. Nightingale ran wild on Hart, hitting a main event spinebuster for a nearfall. Nightingale went for the Babe With The Powerbomb, but her arm was too weak to hit it. Hart ran wild in the corner, hitting a rabbit lariat to the back of the head.

Hart went for the Hartless submission, but Nightingale powered out before hitting the Pounce. Hart rolled to the floor and hid behind King, but Nightingale caught her and sent her into the steps. Hart avoided a cannonball into the stairs and set Nightingale up for a moonsault, but Nightingale took her down and hit a full nelson slam for a nearfall. Nightingale went for the Babe With The Powerbomb again, but Hart landed awkwardly on her butt. Hart ducked a lariat and hit another rabbit lariat before scoring the win with a moonsault.

Big Bill & Ricky Starks were backstage with Lexy Nair. They wanted nothing to do with any of the people challenging them for the titles, which was unfortunate because Lexy told them that FTR, LFI, and the House of Black would be challenging them for the titles at Full Gear. Starks complained about being the last one to know this before proclaiming that he and Big Bill would be the longest-reigning tag team champions ever.

Powerhouse Hobbs (w/ Don Callis) defeated Titus Alexander

Paul Wight joined commentary for this match, previewing his participation in the Like A Dragon Street Fight this Wednesday on Dynamite. Hobbs clubbered on Alexander in the corner before talking trash to Wight. Hobbs hit the main event spinebuster before landing the World’s Strongest Slam for the win.

After the match, Don Callis & Kyle Fletcher joined Hobbs in the ring. Callis proclaimed his family to be the best in wrestling history, better than the Briscos, the Von Erichs, the Gagnes, and the Harts. He called Jericho a narcissist who called the last friend he had in Paul Wight. He knew Wight was a stand-up guy and would accept the offer but told Wight it wasn’t too late to get out of it. The three of them walked to the announce table before Callis called Wight a scared giant. Callis sent Hobbs to take Wight out before Wight stood up to face him. Callis and Fletcher held Hobbs back and bailed.

FTR was backstage with Lexy Nair. Wheeler had issues with LFI leaving them hanging, House of Black for getting in their business, and Starks and Bill for taking their titles. Harwood said that their road to their third AEW Tag Team Title reign started now.

Adam Copeland, Darby Allin & Sting defeated Lance Archer & The Righteous (w/Jake Roberts)

A fun, breezy main event with the good guys standing tall and staring down at their opponents for Full Gear. This episode of Collision was very busy filling out more of the Full Gear undercard, but it was effective in doing so.

Copeland started with Dutch and eventually took him down after a series of lariats. Allin and Vincent tagged in, as Schiavone noted that Allin’s persistent shoulder injury was to his A/C joint. Allin had a shoulder brace on, as Vincent took him down and tagged Archer. Allin escaped Archer and tagged Sting, who took the fight to all three men before sending Archer to the floor as we went to a commercial.

We came back to see Vincent biting Sting in the corner. The rudos hit a train of splashes on Sting in the corner. After a few minutes, Sting and Vincent butted heads, allowing Sting to tag in Allin. Allin brought the fight to all three of his opponents before Dutch clotheslined him out of a Code Red attempt. After a commercial break, Allin was still getting beat down as Archer flung him on a vertical suplex.

Allin fought back as Copeland saved Sting from an interfering Archer on the floor. Copeland made the tag and ran wild, sending all three rudos to the floor and hitting a suicide dive onto the pile. Copeland set up the spear on Vincent, but Archer hooked his boot. Allin hit the Coffin Drop to Archer on the floor, but Copeland ran into a Black Hole Slam from Dutch.

Sting fought off the Righteous before teaming up with Copeland to hit an elbow drop/Scorpion Death Drop combination. Sting sent Vincent into the corner and hit a Stinger Splash before Copeland hit the spear for the win. The announcers talked up how well these three worked together before the big trios street fight at Full Gear. Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne walked to the stage and stared them down as we went off the air.

Sting & Darby Allin vs. The Outrunners added to AEW Dynamite

Sting will be in action this Wednesday.

The AEW star will team with Darby Allin on Dynamite to take on The Outrunners. Tony Khan on X pointed out that it would be the first time since 1989 that Sting would be wrestling in Oregon, and likely his last time.

“In his first match in Oregon since 1989 and likely his last ever Oregon match, Sting will team up with Darby to fight The Youngest Men Alive in Portland this WEDNESDAY!” Khan wrote.

Sting announced last month that his final match would take place at AEW Revolution next year. At Full Gear on November 18, he will team up with Allin and Adam Copeland to take on Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne.

It was also annouced on Monday that Hikaru Shida and Timeless Toni Storm will also have a sit-down with Tony Schiavone ahead of their Women’s title match at Full Gear.

Here’s the current lineup for Portland, Oregon:

  • AEW World Champion MJF defends against Daniel Garcia
  • ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe defends against Keith Lee
  • Sting & Darby Allin vs. The Outrunners
  • Jay White vs. Mark Briscoe
  • Tony Schiavone sits down with Hikaru Shida and Timeless Toni Storm
  • Swerve Strickland vs. Penta El Zero Miedo
  • Red Velvet vs. Julia Hart

Sting trios match announced for AEW Collision

On AEW Collision this week, Sting is set to compete in trios action.

AEW has announced that a trios match with Sting, Darby Allin & Adam Copeland facing Lance Archer & The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch) will air on Collision this Saturday night. The show is being taped in Oakland, California on Friday along with a live episode of AEW Rampage.

Allin defeated Archer in a singles match on Collision this past Saturday, Following the match, it was revealed that The Righteous have aligned with Archer and Jake Roberts. The angle led to Archer laying out Allin with the Blackout.

Sting, Allin & Copeland are also scheduled to team up at AEW Full Gear on Saturday, November 18. They’re facing Christian Cage, Luchasaurus & Nick Wayne at the pay-per-view.

Sting is currently on a retirement tour that will conclude with him having his final match at AEW Revolution 2024. Last month, Ric Flair was brought into AEW to be part of Sting’s final run. Flair has signed a multi-year contract with AEW.

Oakland Arena is hosting Friday’s live Rampage episode/Collision tapings. Both shows are airing in their regular time slots.

This is the first match that’s been announced for Collision.

Cody Rhodes: Last match AEW offered was against Sting

Cody Rhodes has revealed a dream match he was offered near the end of his AEW run.

Rhodes told Sports Illustrated recently that before he left the promotion in early 2022, a match between him and Sting was being considered.

“The last match I was offered in AEW was that match,” said Rhodes. “It wasn’t confirmed or anything like that, but just the little I had to do with his debut there is a wonderful memory.”

Sting recently revealed plans to retire after a final match at AEW Revolution 2024. Ric Flair debuted in the promotion on the October 25 Dynamite and will take part in the final months of Sting’s career.

“I was a little Stinger,” Rhodes continued. “Maybe I’ll pull out a Stinger Splash in his honor. Seriously, cheers to a wonderful career.”

Rhodes defeated Damian Priest on Saturday at WWE Crown Jewel. Despite the long travel time from Riyadh, he will be at tonight’s WWE Raw in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

“I wouldn’t miss it,” said Rhodes. “I was the first pick in the draft for Raw. I think the long-time wrestling fan is loyal and always watching, but if you’re somebody who fell out and are hearing about this wild golden age we’ve entered, come find out what all the fuss is about.”

Rhodes currently finds himself aligned with other babyfaces against the Judgment Day on Raw. He and Jey Uso recently won and lost the Undisputed WWE Tag titles to Priest and Finn Balor.

“Jey [Uso] has been a superb teammate,” said Rhodes. “I need to ask him what inning we are in.”

Sting originally considered December for AEW retirement

Ric Flair is set to help Sting ride into the sunset.

Two weeks ago, Sting revealed his final match will take place at AEW Revolution 2024. He recently told Sports Illustrated that he wanted to retire earlier but having Flair in AEW has motivated him to continue until next March’s pay-per-view.

“I wanted to finish earlier, maybe in December,” Sting said. “But now that Ric is here with me, I want to go longer, all the way to Revolution.”

Flair was Tony Khan’s gift to Sting on last week’s Dynamite. It was one of only two times in his career that Sting says he’s been emotional on-air.

“I’ve been emotional, full of tears, twice in my career. The first was Panama City when Ric and I had the last WCW match on Nitro. The second was last week on Dynamite.”

“When Ric came out and I heard his music play, it hit me,” Sting continued. “I had this flashback, and it made me emotional. Ric is the guy who put me on the map. We’ve traveled around the world together, and Ric helped make me. Now he’s going to finish with me.”

“After all the travel, all the matches, all the press slams, all the chops, and all the woos–woooo!–I experienced the same feeling on Dynamite this past week with Ric that I did on that final Nitro. Except this time, it was so much more positive.”

As for what Sting has planned for the final months of his career, all he will say is that he wants to leave people with a memory that will mean something.

“All I can say for now is I want people to walk away and say, ‘Wow, what an ending,’” Sting continued. “I’ll be three weeks away from turning 65 at that point. I want to leave people with a memory that will mean something.”

Neither Sting nor Flair has been announced for tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Louisville, Kentucky.

Since a bunch of people noted this regarding today’s Observer, “Whoop that Trick” is actually a chant from the Memphis Grizzlies NBA team, which made its way to NXT and Trick Williams. So when AEW fans were chanting it at the Memphis house show, it was not a sign of how over Trick Williams was or them doing a WWE chant. Now when AEW fans are doing “Yeah,” that is the case that they are doing something that WWE fans got over.

Ronda Rousey wrestled a short match last night on the Lucha Va Voom show so she could team with Marina Shafir for the first time. Then today Wrestling Revolver made a Tweet about a Los Angeles debut at the Homenetmen Glendale Ararat in Los Angeles and Rousey tweeted “How very convenient.”

Kevin Iole reported that the Saudi Arabian government paid Mike Tyson “very, very handsomely” for endorsing Francis Ngannou and being in Ngannou’s corner for tomorrow’s fight with Tyson Fury and telling people Ngannou can win. They say he trained him but Ngannou trained under Dewey Cooper. I heard a figure from a friend of Tyson’s who asked me not to print it but it was a giant figure just to do pub. They are also bringing in Manny Pacquiao, Roberto Duran, George Foreman, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, Joe Calzaghe, Tommy Hearns and Frank Bruno according to Iole. Both Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell are also going.

Stipe Miocic himself said that he was never offered to fight for the interim title. Tom Aspinall had said UFC told him he was in because Miocic didn’t want to do it. Miocic said he was fine waiting for Jones to heal up. Dana White said it would have been an insult to ask Miocic to fight for the interim title.

Ric Flair makes surprise AEW debut, reunites with Sting

Ric Flair has made his AEW debut.

Flair made a surprise appearance on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, joining Sting and Tony Schiavone in the ring. Flair put over Sting and said he was one of the nicest people in pro wrestling, also mentioning their match on TBS back at the first Clash of the Champions in 1988.

Christian Cage interrupted the promo and after mocking Flair, issued a challenge to Sting and Darby Allin for a three-on-three match. Sting said they would find a third partner against Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne.

It was announced last week that Tony Khan would have a special gift for Sting. In the control center hyping Wednesday’s Dynamite, Schiavone said that the gift would be historic.

Flair had what he called his last match last year, teaming with son-in-law Andrade El Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal on a show promoted under the Jim Crockett Promotions banner. He also participated in a documentary on his career that streamed on Peacock in conjunction with WWE.

Sting to have retirement match at AEW Revolution 2024

Sting has announced his retirement plans.

After mentioning his AEW in-ring debut was at Revolution 2021, Sting said that his final match will be Revolution 2024 next year. He finished his promo by saying that the only thing for sure about Sting is that his retirement is for sure.

Sting started his promo on Wednesday by bringing up names from the past, such as Lex Luger and Hulk Hogan. He also brought up Ric Flair, who he thanked for putting him on the map at the first Clash of Champions and later at the 1990 Great American Bash when he defeated Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight title. He said he brought up retirement once before in 2015, but it didn’t sit well with him. He then announced his retirement for next year.

Later in the show, Darby Allin attacked Nick Wayne and Christian Cage after Wayne told his mother that she was dead to him. The brawl spilled out into the arena where Luchasaurus came in to aid Cage and Wayne. Sting then came out to make the save.

Sting started his career in 1985, working in the Memphis territory and Mid-South Wrestling before joining WCW in 1987, winning their world title on multiple occasions. After the company closed down in 2001, Sting made regular appearances for Impact Wrestling through 2014. Following a run in WWE, Sting made his debut for AEW in December 2020, quickly aligning with Darby Allin.
