Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch give their opinions on John Cena’s final match finish

Seth Rollins recently defended John Cena’s decision to tap out in his final WWE match against Gunther, saying the finish symbolized Cena “fading off into the sunset” rather than giving up.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th, 2025, Gunther defeated Cena by submission in Cena’s final WWE match. While the bout ending drew mixed reactions from fans, Rollins said he believed the finish was fitting for Cena’s career.

Speaking to Ross Tucker, Becky Lynch and Rollins shared their thoughts on the finish. While Lynch claimed she would not have tapped out, Rollins stated,

“I have so many mixed feelings on it. John is one of the greatest of all time. His whole thing is ‘never give up.’ People were all over him for giving up, for tapping out, but it didn’t feel like he was giving it up. It felt like he was fading off into the sunset.”

“He had done his job, he was happy to do it, and he was handing the ball off. That’s how I felt about it. I might be in the minority on that,” Rollins continued. “At the end of the day, he smiled before he did it, and there is something poetic to that. I love John. It’s hard for me to second-guess anything he does.”

Lynch added, “He smiled, and I cried.”

Following a run lasting over two decades and multiple championship wins, Cena finally retired from in-ring action at 48 years old.

Seth Rollins reveals surprising gift from The Rock after WWE WrestleMania 40

Seth Rollins has revealed that The Rock sent him a large quantity of ice cream and chocolate as a surprising gift following the injury he suffered after WrestleMania 40.

Rollins competed on both nights of WrestleMania 40, closing night one in a tag match alongside Cody Rhodes against Roman Reigns and The Rock, before opening night two against Drew McIntyre. Unfortunately, after the event, Rollins suffered an injury.

Recently, speaking on Games With Names, Rollins praised The Rock and discussed their relationship, noting the gesture he received during his recovery. Speaking about their relationship, Rollins opened up about the ice cream and chocolates he received.

“What a guy. I’m friends with DJ [Dwayne Johnson] now,” Rollins added. “He sent me, when I got hurt after WrestleMania 40, he sent me like a giant, so much ice cream and chocolate. We still have pints in the back fridge because there’s so much to go through.”

Rollins further added that he has developed a friendship with Johnson, whom he described as a “big cheat day guy.”

Rollins is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, which he suffered against Rhodes during their Crown Jewel 2025 match in Australia. There is currently no timetable for his return.

Seth Rollins details injury at WWE Crown Jewel: ‘Did not stick the landing’

Seth Rollins broke down how he tore his rotator cuff during a recent interview.

Rollins has been sidelined since suffering the injury in his match against Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel in October. He was a guest on the Games With Names show recently and detailed how the injury occurred and how it affected the remainder of the match.

Rollins said:

“I jumped from one turnbuckle all the way across the ring to the other turnbuckle where Cody Rhodes was hanging upside down and I headbutted him. But in the landing, I didn’t stick it. I did not stick the landing. I rotated a little bit to my left, landed hard on my left elbow, jolted it up into the shoulder. Felt it go right away.”

Rollins said that after feeling his shoulder go, he was concerned because they still had a significant portion of the match left, but they ended up getting through everything they’d planned.

“Fortunately, I was able to get through everything. I took his finisher off the top rope, which was pretty scary at that point because I knew I was going to land harshly on my shoulder so I kind of kept it tucked real tight.”

Rollins said that adrenaline helped him get through much of the match, but it was difficult.

“If you watch that match back, it’s dangling at my side. I can’t throw even my punches or forearms correctly. It was hard to do what needed to get done.”

Later in the interview, they discussed Rollins’ 2022 Hell in a Cell match against Rhodes, which Rhodes wrestled with a torn pec. With the two having now wrestled multiple high-profile matches where one of them was injured for at least part of it, Rollins spoke about the chemistry he and Rhodes have together.

“You need a dance partner, and everybody’s got different chemistry with different dance partners. He and I have always had great chemistry. We did it again just recently at Crown Jewel, and it was as fantastic as ever.”

Rollins’ comments regarding how he suffered the injury at Crown Jewel begin around 4:50 of the below video, and his comments about his chemistry with Cody Rhodes begin around the 1-hour 19-minute and 30-second mark in the video below.

JNPO: July 2025 wrestling year in review – Hulk Hogan passes away, AEW All In

The Josh Nason’s Punch-Out pro wrestling year in review series continues with a stop in July — arguably the busiest month of the year when it came to news.

That’s because Hulk Hogan passed away which brought out a lot of big feelings, memories and a lot of mainstream media attention.

The month also featured AEW All In which saw Hangman Page end the night as World Champion in addition to a lot of newsworthy happenings.

July also saw the retirement of Bill Goldberg on the same show in which Seth Rollins got “injured” which also saw its own torrent of speculation, news, and conjecture.

Helping me sift through that and a few hundred headlines is returning guest Jason Powell of ProWrestling.net which includes the rest of the news in AEW, WWE, NXTNAAA, Japan, Mexico and more.

Seth Rollins ‘on track’ in WWE injury recovery

Seth Rollins’ injury recovery is going well, with the former World Heavyweight Champion saying the timeline for his WWE return remains on “track.”

A shoulder injury Rollins suffered in October has him sidelined into 2026. He’s targeting WrestleMania season for his return and has mentioned March-April for when he could be back in action. Even if he’s not able to return until April, a WrestleMania 42 return would still be possible for Rollins.

On Tuesday’s edition of The Rich Eisen Show, Rollins made an appearance and gave an update on his recovery.

“We’re on track. Yeah, I got the brace off, like, last week — middle of last week. So, it was nice. It’s nice to walk around like a regular person,” he said. “I’m feeling all right. It’s nice to be able to get around without the brace, I’ll say that. But, yeah, we’re on track. We’re on track.”

Rollins suffered the injury against Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel: Perth on October 11 and had to undergo surgery to repair the issue. To temporarily write him off television, WWE did an angle where Rollins was betrayed by his former Vision faction members Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman. Breakker is now in line to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship on the first WWE Raw episode of 2026.

At the time of his injury, Rollins was the World Heavyweight Champion. His reign ended with him having to vacate the belt.

Rollins is staying busy despite being sidelined. On Christmas Day, he’ll be part of Netflix’s pre-game coverage for its Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings NFL game. He told The Rich Eisen Show that he also plans to attend John Cena’s final match on WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.

Rollins’ appearance on The Rich Eisen Show was to promote that single-night WrestleMania 42 tickets are now on sale. The two-night event is being held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19, 2026.

Mystery man appears during men’s WWE Survivor Series WarGames match

A mystery man pantomiming Seth Rollins’ moves helped The Vision-led team to victory in the men’s WarGames match at Saturday’s WWE Survivor Series.

CM Punk had hit a GTS on Logan Paul for a nearfall when a masked man completely clad in black scaled the cage and stared at Punk before hitting a superkick and a stomp before escaping. Bron Breakker then hit his running spear on Punk to get the pin and win.

The commentary team speculated it looked like Rollins with Wade Barrett noting Rollins just had shoulder surgery but that Paul Heyman always has a plan.

Punk teamed with Roman Reigns, Jey & Jimmy Uso, Cody Rhodes against Paul, Breakker, Bronson Reed, Brock Lesnar and Drew McIntyre.

The PLE ended with an annoyed looking Reigns walking away from a Rhodes handshake attempt and a half-hearted fist bump with Punk. Reigns has made it clear recently he wants another World title reign.

WarGames match highlights:

  • The match featured blood as Punk was busted open by McIntyre and Breakker after being thrown into the cage with Rhodes later bleeding as well.
  • Breakker landed right on the top of his head off a Doomsday Device by Punk and Rhodes. He was out of action for several minutes until getting back in the mix.
  • There was some Punk/Rhodes tension after an accidental back elbow early in the match. The duo smoothed things over later with some Dusty Rhodes-inspired combo offense.
  • Heyman gave Paul some brass knucks which Reigns eventually got ahold of to knockout McIntyre and Reed before he went heads-up against Breakker.
  • In what will be a talked about spot, Jey Uso temporarily halted proceedings during the match to “run it back” and do his Yeet entrance. That was stopped shortly after when Lesnar made his entrance.
  • Lesnar came out of the cage as Reigns made his entrance. Reigns landed three Superman punches but on his fourth, Lesnar caught him and put him through an announce table with an F5. Lesnar rammed him into the cage and threw him in to officially start the match.

WarGames entrance order:

  1. CM Punk/Bron Breakker
  2. Drew McIntyre
  3. Cody Rhodes
  4. Logan Paul
  5. Jimmy Uso
  6. Bronson Reed
  7. Jey Uso
  8. Brock Lesnar
  9. Roman Reigns

Becky Lynch: Great promos are what makes a great wrestler

Becky Lynch believes promos are the key element in making a great professional wrestler.

A new episode of Something’s Burning debuted this week with comedian Bert Kreischer speaking with Lynch and her husband Seth Rollins. On the show, Lynch explained that the hardest part about being a wrestler is getting the fans to care about the work you’re doing in the ring. She thinks promos are the easiest way to get the audience to invest in what you’re doing.

“I would say a great promo,” Lynch responded when asked what makes a great wrestler. “Because if you haven’t told the story, then nobody is going to care about what you do in the — the hardest part is getting them to care about what you’re doing in the ring. And if they have no reason to care, then your work is just so much harder as a wrestler. So if you can get that by the promo, then you’re already in.”

Lynch said promos are what she’s always loved about wrestling. However, Rollins is the total opposite. He didn’t care about promos growing up as a fan and has had to develop that ability over time.

“Promos for me, that was what I always loved, right? So that’s what I was always thinking about, always writing down,” Lynch said. “I was just promos.”

“I was the opposite. I didn’t give two sh*ts about promos,” Rollins added. “I didn’t care about them at all, I just cared about the wrestling. I was the guy in, like, my teens that just wanted to watch the cruiserweights. I was like, ‘I don’t care about these big idiots talking. Like, get [this] Kevin Nash out of here. I want to watch Rey Mysterio and Juventud Guerrera.’ And I kind of carried that over. I was like, ‘Wrestling, wrestling, wrestling, wrestling. They need to be able to work, you know? Screw John Cena, I like Rob Van Dam.’ That was my mindset as I was growing up. And then, consequently, I was awful at promos. I was a really bad promo early in my career.”

Lynch is set to compete in WarGames this Saturday at WWE Survivor Series, where she will team up with Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax & Lash Legend to take on the babyface group of AJ Lee, Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss.

Rollins is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury and is targeting WrestleMania season for his return.

Seth Rollins targeting WrestleMania season for WWE return

WWE star Seth Rollins is hoping to be back in the ring for WrestleMania season.

Rollins suffered a shoulder injury at Crown Jewel: Perth on October 11 that forced him to undergo surgery. While appearing on a new episode of Something’s Burning with comedian Bert Kreischer, Rollins discussed the injury and how long he expects to be sidelined. The timeline he was given by doctors was six months out of action.

“I mean, there’s nothing good about being hurt. I’m trying to find the silver linings,” Rollins said. “I’ll get to spend more time with my daughter, which is great. More time at home. Once I get this thing [shoulder sling] off, which is in like another month, then it might be, like, full vacation mode for a little while before I lock in and have to start training to get ready to come back.”

Rollins said he thinks it will be a gradual ramp up after he’s able to get his sling off. He’d like to be able to start fully preparing for his return around February so that he could come back approximately one month after that.

“My guess is about 8-12 weeks of, like, ‘Okay, now I have to stop eating like an assh*le.’ Probably 12 weeks. Plus, we’ll be moving right into WrestleMania season. So I’m hoping around February, after all the holiday stuff, I can start to be like, okay, lock in, no more BS,” Rollins said.

“Give myself a month before I come back-ish, maybe? Maybe, don’t even know. They say six months, so this could be April.”

WrestleMania 42 is being held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, 2026, so Rollins could still be back by then even if the six-month timeline proves to be accurate. He was temporarily written off WWE TV in October with an angle where he was betrayed by his former Vision partners Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman.

WWE star to appear at NFL Christmas Day game

WWE star Seth Rollins will be doing some cross-promotion next month when he appears at one of Netflix’s Christmas Day NFL games.

Rollins is listed as a special guest for Netflix’s pre-game coverage of the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, December 25. The game is taking place in Minneapolis at US Bank Stadium, where WWE SummerSlam 2026 will be held next August.

This is the second straight year that Netflix has partnered with the NFL to broadcast games on Christmas. It’s part of Netflix’s push to add more live sports to its portfolio, which has also seen Netflix develop a close relationship with WWE that includes Netflix being the broadcast home of Raw.

CM Punk appeared at one of 2024’s Christmas games to promote the WWE-Netflix deal.

The Lions and Vikings are both division rivals of the Chicago Bears — the NFL team that Rollins supports. Rollins is a huge football fan in general and has a regular role guest hosting “Good Morning Football” on the NFL Network.

During a recent “Good Morning Football” episode, Rollins said he expects to be out of action for six months due to the shoulder injury he suffered against Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel: Perth. The injury forced Rollins to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship — and WWE ran an angle where he was betrayed by his former Vision stablemates Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.

The Lions vs. Vikings pre-game show begins at 4 p.m. Eastern on Christmas. The game itself will kick off at 4:30 p.m.

Seth Rollins praises John Cena: ‘You’re the best, dude’

While co-hosting NFL Network’s Good Morning Football on Thursday, Seth Rollins had some very kind words for his former WWE rival John Cena.

Rollins did a Q&A on the show where he was asked to choose between Mick Foley or Cena as his partner for a hypothetical tag team match. He chose Cena — praising him as a great friend and performer.

“John Cena is on his retirement run right now. Recently just won the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career this past Monday on Raw, beating “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio. He’s a Grand Slam Champion,” Rollins said. “He’s got [three] appearances left in his WWE career. Madison Square Garden coming up, and then Washington, D.C. for Saturday Night’s Main Event in his final match.

“John is a great friend. He is one of the greatest to ever do it. You can stack him against The Rock, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan — any of the Mount Rushmores, John Cena is on them. He’s a great human being. He’s been a mentor to me. And I would love to have John Cena on my side. In all my time in WWE, I don’t think John and I have teamed on television. We had a great tag team match in India at a live event a few years back, which is one of the loudest crowds I’ve ever heard in my life. I could not speak. I could not hear the person speaking to me when John Cena made his entrance. It was magical.

“So John, hats off to you. A great career. A better friend, better performer. You’re the best, dude. I would love to have you as a partner any day of the week.”

Rollins also called Foley one of the greatest of all time, noting that Foley will send his daughter Roux “handwritten, calligraphy” letters for Christmas every year that he writes as Santa.

Next Monday’s Raw at Madison Square Garden in New York City will be the last time Cena ever appears on the show. He’s then set for Survivor Series on November 29 and Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.

Rollins — a huge Chicago Bears fan — is a regular guest host on Good Morning Football. The former World Heavyweight Champion is sidelined for the next several months due to a shoulder injury.

Cody Rhodes discusses WWE’s injury culture, Seth Rollins’ injury at Crown Jewel

Cody Rhodes discussed WWE’s injury culture during a recent interview.

Rhodes was a guest on All The Smoke with Matt Barnes recently and discussed his rivalry with Seth Rollins, which includes Hell in a Cell 2022 where Rhodes wrestled with a torn pec, and last month’s Crown Jewel, where Rollins suffered a similar injury.

Rhodes addressed not taking much pain medication before Hell in a Cell, noting WWE’s strict drug-free policy, saying:

“WWE is very adamant about there is no substance abuse in this company anymore. None. The 80s are over. We’ve got to be healthy, we’ve got to be clean. So people ask all the time, if I had any pain medication or anything of that nature. I had four baby Aspirin because they didn’t even have regular Advil.”

While looking at a photo from the match, Rhodes continued:

“I remember at the time being told, ‘Hey, if you’re in pain we are going to stop it. There is nothing to prove here.'”

“I’m walking this tight rope the whole match not sure if they are just going to ring the bell. But Seth was the perfect person to be in there with me. And the crazy thing about this photo is Seth Rollins and I recently wrestled at Crown Jewel and Seth finally beat me,” Rhodes said, before noting he wasn’t sure about the exact nature of Rollins’ injury.

“I want to say he tore his rotator cuff. We don’t have an actual answer on what’s with Seth. I know he’s gone under the knife and got surgery so at this point real, not real, however you look at the industry, him and I aren’t good for each other.”

We don’t need to wrestle ever again. He’s lost his shoulder. That was the first major injury I ever had. But I was glad to be in the ring with him that night. It was special.”

Rhodes continued to say of WWE’s approach to injuries today:

“We don’t power through anymore. That might have been the very last example of ‘Hey, let’s power through.'”

“You just have more athlete-conscious people today.”

Rollins was injured on a coast-to-coast headbutt during the Men’s Crown Jewel Championship match on the October 11 show. His injury led to a change in creative direction for Raw, with an angle that Monday seeing The Vision turn on Rollins, something that hadn’t been expected to happen until after WrestleMania.

In the October 20 edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote that Rollins had been scheduled to face CM Punk at Saturday Night’s Main Event and then captain the heel team in the men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series.

Seth Rollins gives update on WWE return timeline

Seth Rollins expects to be out of action for several months due to his shoulder injury.

Rollins suffered the injury at WWE Crown Jewel: Perth this month and was forced to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship. He’s already undergone surgery to repair the issue — and Rollins had his arm in a sling while appearing on the Halloween edition of NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. While giving a comedic rant, he said he will be out of action for six months.

“I wish, I wish I could rip this thing off,” Rollins said about the sling. “But I’m out, guy. I’m out of action for six months. My World Championship is going to be worn by some schmuck, either Jey Uso or CM Punk. It’s awful. It really is the Halloween scaries, guys.”

Uso and Punk are facing off at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend to determine the new World Heavyweight Champion. It was originally supposed to be Punk challenging Rollins for the title before Rollins’ injury forced a change in plans. To earn his spot in the vacant title match, Uso won a battle royal on the October 20 episode of Raw.

When Rollins returns — along with potentially going after the World Heavyweight Championship again — he’ll have unfinished business with his former faction The Vision. WWE wrote Rollins off television in an angle where Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed betrayed their former leader and laid him out.

Rollins is a regular guest host on Good Morning Football. A huge Chicago Bears fan, he appeared on today’s show wearing a bear costume and Steve “Mongo” McMichael jersey.

Seth Rollins posts statement after undergoing surgery

WWE star Seth Rollins has posted a statement to social media after undergoing surgery to repair his injured left shoulder.

Rollins was injured on October 11 at the Crown Jewel PLE in Perth, with the injury apparently coming as he executed a coast-to-coast diving headbutt to Cody Rhodes. Rollins was written out of WWE storylines on the next episode of Raw as his Vision stablemates Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker attacked him.

On this week’s Raw, general manager Adam Pearce announced that Rollins had undergone “major surgery” and would be out of action for an undisclosed amount of time. Rollins was also stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship, with a battle royal won by Jey Uso held on Raw to determine who would face CM Punk for the vacant title at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1.

Posting on Instagram, Rollins included a photo drinking coffee with his arm in a sling with the caption:

Caffeine and clarity. See ya on the other side. ✌🏻 P.S. I love football.

Rollins wore a Chicago Bears cap in the photo, with the “I love football” line a callback to his ongoing bit of posting whether he loves or hates football based on whether or not the Bears win. Chicago defeated the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in their most recent game.
