Samantha Irvin says pairing with Ricochet ‘will be historic’

Samantha Irvin recently responded to a question about potentially managing her husband Ricochet.

Irvin announced in October 2024 that she was leaving WWE. In October 2025, she revealed that she was one year into a two-year non-compete clause with the company.

On Sunday, a user on X wrote to Irvin: “The Ricochet return and push with you as the manager is going to be so sick.”

Irvin responded:

“I would be a bad manager if I advised him to return. But us together will be historic, I do believe that 🙏🏽”

Earlier in the thread, Irvin responded to a comment about her being the best on the mic, writing:

“Thank you so much! I promise I will bring even more gusto to the mic when managing talent 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽”

Irvin’s comment came in a thread where she responded to someone saying she would have been “legendary” had she not left WWE. Irvin responded that she is legendary.

“Samantha Irvin is legendary! Without the opportunity for it to get stale, or annoying, or overdone… because it has concluded and is preserved in a beautiful era we can always look back on 🙌🏽”

Samantha Irvin: ‘One year down, one year left’ on my WWE non-compete

Samantha Irvin has one year left on her non-compete clause.

The popular ring announcer left WWE in October 2024, with it later being reported that Irvin and the company could not come to an agreement on her working outside projects.

In response to a follower on X recently noting that it’s been a year since she left WWE, Irvin responded that it’s one year down and another to go on her non-compete clause.

Irvin wrote:

“One year down, one year left on my non-compete! Can’t wait. I hope you enjoy my songs in the meantime and look back on all the memories as fondly as I do! Love & miss you all and remember- I NEVER left FOR music, I am music. Hope to see you soon…..”

Following her departure from WWE, Irvin said that she didn’t enjoy ring announcing and had wanted a different on-screen role with the company.

“I don’t like announcing,” she revealed on Instagram. “I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer. I love watching the action but I don’t love being an announcer.”

In February 2025, Irvin told USA Today that it’s guaranteed she will return to wrestling at some point:

“That’s a guarantee. My wrestling career has barely even begun,” Irvin said. “I think it would be an absolute waste of everything that I’ve done so far to not continue the story. I gotta finish my story.”

Irvin and AEW’s Ricochet were married in March of this year. As for Irvin’s music career, she just released a new music video for her song “Sweet’ last week. A link to the video is here and below:

Ricochet misses AEW Dynamite, gets married to Samantha Irvin

This story has been updated.

Even with a big title match coming up in less than two weeks time, Ricochet skipped this week’s AEW Dynamite for a better reason: his wedding.

Appearing via video Wednesday, one of the two top challengers to reigning AEW International Champion Kenny Omega said he wasn’t on the show due to his wedding to former WWE ring announcer and current free agent Samantha Irvin.

The wedding was indeed Wednesday night with some videos making their way to social media Thursday:

Of the pictures that made their way out, WWE’s Karrion Kross and Scarlett were in attendance:

The video on Dynamite (seen below) aired following Omega’s show-opening win over Blake Christian and also while “Speedball” Mike Bailey was in the ring afterward. Ricochet and Bailey will challenge Omega in a three-way title match at AEW Dynasty on Sunday, April 6th.

Ricochet said he was preparing for the best day of his life: that was until April 6th when he shows everyone that he is out of this world.

He and Irvin got engaged in January 2023 when they were both in WWE. Five months ago, he said Irvin wasn’t going to AEW while Irvin said two months ago that she would definitely be back in wrestling at some point.

Samantha Irvin: It’s a ‘guarantee’ that I’ll be back in wrestling at some point

Former WWE ring announcer Samantha Irvin is certain that she’ll be involved in the pro wrestling industry again at some point.

In an interview with USA Today, Irvin said it’s a “guarantee” that she’ll be back in wrestling again one day. She did not mention anything about the timing for when a return could happen or what she envisions her role would be.

“That’s a guarantee. My wrestling career has barely even begun,” Irvin said. “I think it would be an absolute waste of everything that I’ve done so far to not continue the story. I gotta finish my story.”

Irvin said she can’t wait to work with her husband Ricochet (who is currently in AEW) again in the future.

In October 2024, Irvin announced her departure from WWE. Despite receiving high praise for her work within the company and from fans, Irvin knew that she did not want to be a ring announcer for the rest of her life. She is now releasing music under the name Samantha The Bomb with her single “Make Me” set to debut on February 14.

“It just became more and more sad as time went on, because it’s like, ‘Wow, am I just not a singer anymore? Like, what am I doing?’ I know that I am a performer and being a ring announcer on WWE, it was the performance of a lifetime,” she told USA Today. “But then when people stopped calling me for singing gigs, and now they’re asking me to announce everything, I said, ‘Oh no, I took it too far.’ I was like, man, like, this cannot be forever.”

Irvin said there were no hard feelings when she left WWE, and she appreciates that her time as a ring announcer gave her an audience that cares about her.

Real name Samantha Johnson, Irvin appeared as a singer on “America’s Got Talent” prior to joining WWE in 2021.

Samantha Irvin says she didn’t like ring announcing, wanted to manage in WWE

Samantha Irvin wanted to do other things in WWE beyond announcing.

Since Irvin announced her departure from WWE earlier this week, comments have been pouring into her Instagram post announcing her decision. Some comments sought to cast blame on Irvin’s fiance, Ricochet, who recently left WWE to join AEW. Irvin responded to those comments by sharing her feelings about her role in WWE, saying she wanted to do more than the role she was given.

“I don’t like announcing,” she revealed on Instagram. “I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer. I love watching the action but I don’t love being an announcer.”

When another user wrote to Irvin “ur untalented husband did this huh,” Irvin replied that his success allowed her to leave a role she didn’t like.

“My husband is a millionaire so yes, I don’t have to do a job I don’t like anymore,” she wrote.

In a follow-up report, it was noted that WWE and Irvin could not come to terms regarding outside projects. Irvin is looking to focus on music.

It’s another episode of We’re Live, Pal, which is also available for free on YouTube below, as Andrew Zarian and I talk about what’s going on in wrestling today.

We kicked off the show talking about the tribalism and goofiness between hardcore fans of AEW and WWE.

  • Bron Breakker beating Jey Uso for the WWE Intercontinental title and what it means for Jey Uso and the Bloodline war
  • Carlito’s irresponsible comment on WWE Raw
  • Samantha Irvin leaving WWE
  • The BCC and if it’s AEW’s version of the NWO

Samantha Irvin, WWE could not come to terms on outside projects

Samantha Irvin’s music career influenced her decision to leave WWE.

Irvin, who had been with the company since 2021, announced her departure before Monday’s episode of Raw in Philadelphia. Lillian Garcia returned and replaced her as ring announcer on the show.

Our Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed her decision to leave WWE on today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, noting that she is looking to focus more on her music and could not come to terms with WWE on outside projects.

“She’s actually been thinking about it for about a year,” Meltzer said on the show.

“She’s got some outside projects she wants to do. Apparently, couldn’t come to terms with how it worked with WWE and off she goes,” Alvarez added.

“She wants to be a singer. I mean, she is a singer, she also plays the flute but she wants to get more involved in her music. It’s just something she’s been talking about for a long, long time and finally pulled the trigger on it,” Meltzer continued.

It was noted that Lillian Garcia left WWE in 2009 to focus on her music career as well before returning to the company in 2011.

Irvin posted to X on Tuesday, clarifying that she’d given the company notice she was leaving “months ago.”

Not long after the news broke, Irvin’s fiancee, AEW’s Ricochet, noted on social media that she was not headed to AEW.

“Haha, she’s not coming to AEW,” he wrote on X. “You can all rest easy.”

“(Irvin’s) not planning on going to AEW, not saying 100 percent that she won’t go. Ricochet actually tweeted that she’s not going and it’s not her intention to go there,” Meltzer added.

Irvin’s fiance is AEW wrestler Ricochet. The couple announced their engagement in January 2023. Ricochet left WWE in June and made his AEW debut in August at All In.

Chelsea Green responded to the news, writing, “I will miss seeing your smiling face at work! I am so lucky to have shared the ring with you & even more lucky to have been a part of your iconic ring announcements.”

Green also added:

Michael Buffer praises Samantha Irvin’s WWE WrestleMania performance

WWE’s Samantha Irvin is getting deserved praise from a legendary ring announcer.

Irvin was the ring announcer for every match at WrestleMania 40 this past weekend. She’s received plaudits from both fans and those in the wrestling industry for her performance, which included an emotional announcement of Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship victory.

The 79-year-old Michael Buffer, perhaps the most famous ring announcer of all time, added himself to the chorus of praise on Monday. He tweeted that Irvin’s timing, pace, drama, and energy were all perfect:

Ring announcer Samantha Irvin ruled @WrestleMania last night & her emotional final announcement was awesome! She was featured on camera-ring center-that was a smart production move & she was just brilliant! Her timing, pace, drama, energy was perfect!

Paul “Triple H” Levesque responded to Buffer’s tweet by saying that Irvin is “WWE’s Michael Buffer.”

Best known for his work in boxing and his “Let’s get ready to rumble!” catchphrase, Buffer was also a pro wrestling ring announcer for WCW. He appeared for WWE on an episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event in 2007 and at the Royal Rumble in 2008.

Irvin (real name Samantha Johnson) joined WWE in 2021 and is currently the ring announcer for Raw. She previously appeared as a singer on “America’s Got Talent.”

Logan Paul praises Ricochet & Samantha Irvin following WWE SummerSlam

Logan Paul had some kind words to say regarding Ricochet and Samantha Irvin on his podcast.

The 28-year-old was sporting a black eye as he spoke about his SummerSlam experience on Tuesday’s edition of Impaulsive. Paul said he received the injury after getting kicked in the face early in the match.

“SummerSlam was fun,” Paul said. “I was really tired in there, I was exhausted for some reason and especially trying to focus on the match and perform while I’m tired and also knowing the weight of the night ahead because that wasn’t even the most exciting part of the night for me. We got a f—in flight to Dallas to get to. I literally exited the ring still sweating, huffing, and puffing into the SUV onto the jet to Dallas. Made it with time to spare. It was a night to remember.”

Paul continued to talk about Irvin providing one of the most viral moments from their match when she announced him as the winner.

“I think we got the most viewed social clip as well. Well, not ‘we’, well, I was in it. Samantha Irvin, the ring announcer, who was my opponent’s fiance. I was kind of taunting her beforehand. I was like, ‘You know you’re gonna be saying Logan Paul’s the winner after I beat your man.’ And there’s a video of her announcing me winning the match after, ‘And your winner is Logan Paul!’ And she has just a look of torture and sadness, despair on her face but it’s still delivering that energy of a ring announcer and I think that clip got like 30 million plus views or so.”

“People really responded to our match,” Paul continued. “Ricochet is so good, the guy’s so good. He made it easy to look good. It was a fun match and I’m interested to see how this conversation continues in my WWE career story arc with this boxing weaving in. I want to hop back and forth, I don’t know if it’s ever been done.”

Paul is scheduled to face MMA fighter Dillon Danis in a boxing bout on October 14 in Manchester. It will be his first fight since going eight rounds with Floyd Mayweather in an unscored exhibition bout on June 6, 2021.

Paul recently said he was close to fighting Nate Diaz but things fell apart after WWE got involved
