Ring of Honor Women’s TV title unified on AEW Collision

There is a new Ring of Honor Women’s TV Champion following Wednesday’s AEW Collision episode.

In her hometown of Boston, Interim Women’s TV Champion Mercedes Mone defeated the returning ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet in the Collision main event on Wednesday to unify the titles.

The Interim TV title was created in July of this year when Velvet was injured and unable to defend the championship at Supercard of Honor in Texas. Mina Shirakawa won a four-way at Supercard to crown the Interim Champion.

Mone became the Interim TV Champion after defeating Shirakawa at October’s AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view in St. Louis.

After the win over Red Velvet on Collision, Mone brawled with AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander, forcing Statlander to tap to her Statement Maker submission hold. Mone challenges Statlander for the AEW Women’s title at Full Gear on Saturday.

Billie Starkz wins inaugural Women’s TV title at ROH Supercard of Honor

Billie Starkz won the inaugural Ring of Honor Women’s TV title at Friday’s Supercard of Honor in a less than honorable way.

Starkz defeated Queen Aminata in the finals of a 16-woman tournament to take the title, her first in ROH.

The beginning of the end came when Starkz missed a swanton attempt off the top, landing hard on Aminata’s knees. Starkz immediately started pointing to her neck which led to ROH medical personnel and the referee tending to her.

She was crying in pain and put in a neck brace as the crowd was silent and as Aminata looked on in concern. Production even cut to the announcers’ desk twice to emphasis the seriousness of the moment.

As Starkz was about to be taken out, Aminata was holding the ropes open to help. Starkz then broke away, hit a belly-to-back suplex, and locked a sleeper on Aminata who eventually passed out, giving the win and title to Starkz.

The whole sequence was three minutes:

The new champion defeated Robyn Renegade in the first round, Diamante in the second round, and then former ROH Women’s Champion Mercedes Martinez in the semifinals. Starkz has now won eight straight in ROH.

Aminata advanced to the finals with wins over J-Rod, Taya Valkyrie and Red Velvet. The loss is her first in ROH.
