ROH TV results: Six-Man Tag Team Championship match

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Quinn McKay revealed she was out of her usual hosting duties due to her match that is scheduled tonight, meaning Delirious is the guest host. Before Delirious came in, McKay drew names out of a pumpkin to decide wildcard tag teams to compete in a special Halloween four-corner tag team bout later on in the night.

Delirious came in and spat out a bunch of inaudible words as the match cards ran across the screen, including a ROH Six Man Tag Team Championship bout between the current champions Shane Taylor Promotions (Taylor, Moses, and Kaun) and the trio of PCO, Danhausen, and Sledge. Also, ROH Women’s World Champion Rok-C teams up with Quinn McKay to face Miranda Alize and Max The Impaler.

Max The Impaler & Miranda Alize (w/ Amy Rose) defeated Quinn McKay & Rok-C (6:37)

This match was ok, but suffered from a lack of a real rhythm and never felt like it hit its full stride.

Rok-C and Alize started off the match, but went to blows immediately. Both women showed fierce striking abilities as they spilled into the corner, prompting McKay to tag in. McKay tried to separate the women and let cooler heads prevail, but would go blow for blow with Alize as the first commercial break ensued.

When the break returned, Alize began to get weary due to the amount of time she’d been in the match. Although weary, she was constantly distracted by Rok-C and took her off the apron at one point. After McKay had missed a few moves, Alize was able to tag in Max.

Max came in and lifted McKay on their shoulders, while also picking up Rok-C with their hands. Both were slammed on top of each other, but Alize tagged herself in and went to pick the bones. After nailing McKay with a go to sleep and only warranting a two count, Alize tagged out to Max. Max lifted both McKay and Rok-C on their shoulders, dumping them on the mat. Max would lift McKay back up and hit her signature backbreaker, as Alize tagged in one last time and made the pinfall herself.

Rey Horus & Silas Young defeated Demonic Flamita & O’Shay Edwards, Flip Gordon & Matt Taven, and EC3 & World Famous CB in a Wildcard Trick Or Treat Halloween Tag Team Four-Corner Survival Match (11:29)

Despite being a very gimmicky-type match, I enjoyed this match for what it was. Maybe a bit too long, but it was still largely fine.

CB and Young started off the bout. After exchanging a few pinfall attempts, Young seemed impressed with CB and tagged out to Horus. Flamita stormed the ring and threw CB out, meaning Flamita and Horus were the legal men. Horus sent Flamita packing after a sweet head scissors takedown, meaning Gordon would springboard off his turnbuckle and take down Horus. Gordon hit a series of moves from his 2018 persona, including a dropkick that sent Flamita to the hills.

EC3 got in the ring, prompting Gordon to introduce himself like it was 2018. Gordon dodged a few clotheslines from EC3 before tagging out to his partner, Matt Taven. Taven got the advantage over EC3 and drop kicked him as a commercial ensued.

When the break returned, Edwards was beating down Taven. Edwards tagged out to Flamita, who asked Horus to come help him double-team Taven.  After the duo hit a few moves together, Flamita superkicked Horus.

The match broke down at this point, with nearly everyone in the match getting in the ring. Taven dove onto Edwards at ringside, who had CB in his hands. Horus would then dive onto Taven and CB, followed by Flamita diving onto all three of them.

The finish of the match saw Horus and CB have a small exchange, but Horus was able to nail a 450 splash. Horus’ partner, Young, came in the ring and disposed of Horus, before making the successful pinfall himself.

ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Moses, Kaun) defeated PCO, Danhausen and Sledge in a title match (8:33)

Although this was extremely entertaining, I would have preferred the match to be extended by a few minutes to give it more meaning and purpose.

Danhausen and Moses started out. Danhausen tried to take the big man off his feet, but was met with a shoulder block. Before Moses could inflict any more pain, Danhausen requested him to tag out to Taylor. Taylor came in, wrenched the arm of Danhausen, and delivered a flush strike to the jaw that sent him rolling out of the ring. Sledge and Taylor went face to face and traded strikes into a commercial break.

PCO did his shtick as the match returned from break, hitting everybody in sight. He removed the turnbuckle cover and threw all three members of STP into it head first, before diving head-first onto the hard floor at ringside. After PCO regained his composure, he tagged out to Sledge who was met with a right knee from Taylor. Danhausen came in and had some success against Taylor, hitting a standing pump.

The finish of the match saw PCO dive onto Sledge, while Danhausen was attacked 3-on-1. Moses and Kaun hit a double team move on Danhausen that was followed up by a piledriver from Taylor, which secured the pinfall victory.

Final Thoughts:

With the ROH hiatus news, it’s hard to be super invested in the product given that it’s all coming to an end very soon. It’ll be interesting to see if the company pivots to a non-storyline focused show in the coming weeks and just puts on really good matches. Overall though, this was a fine edition of TV that had three fun matches heading  into Final Battle. This wasn’t a can’t miss show by any means, but if you’re looking for just an easy to watch one hour show. this should be on your list.

Technical issues at Sinclair cause change to this weekend’s ROH TV

Due to technical difficulties at Sinclair Broadcast Group, Ring of Honor has had to change its plans for this weekend’s episode of ROH TV.

It was announced on Wednesday night that, because of the technical issues at Sinclair, this weekend’s ROH TV will be an encore spotlight episode featuring past matches from Jay Lethal. The episode will air on Sinclair stations starting this Saturday.

“Because of technical difficulties experienced with our parent company, this week’s TV episode will feature an encore presentation spotlighting The Franchise of ROH, JAY LETHAL,” ROH wrote. “Take a look back at some of his most historic ROH matches against JAY BRISCOE & AJ STYLES!”

Sinclair was disrupted by a ransomware attack earlier this month.

This weekend’s ROH TV was supposed to be a special Halloween episode of the show. That episode will instead air exclusively on ROH’s YouTube channel at 7 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, which is Halloween night.

The Halloween edition of ROH TV will feature Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Moses & Kaun) defending their ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles against Danhausen, PCO & Sledge. ROH Women’s World Champion Rok-C & Quinn McKay vs. Miranda Alize & Max The Impaler is also set for the show, along with a Wildcard Trick or Treat Halloween four corner survival tag match with teams drawn at random.

ROH announced today that it’s going on hiatus after December’s Final Battle pay-per-view and will be taking the first quarter of 2022 to “work internally to reimagine ROH.” ROH talent won’t have their contracts renewed after the promotion’s remaining 2021 dates, and the wrestlers are able to work wherever they want immediately.

ROH TV results: Violence vs. Pure episode

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Before Quinn McKay appeared, cameras caught Vincent backstage. Vincent was standing in the mirror and asking himself and his fellow The Righteous stablemates if he looked good enough for a certain somebody.

Then, McKay appeared and gave her usual spiel. She then ran down the card of this week’s episode, which features a special Violence vs. Pure theme pitting members of Violence Unlimited against members of The Foundation. The matches scheduled are: Homicide vs. Jay Lethal, Brody King & Chris Dickinson vs. Jonathan Gresham & Tracy Williams, and Tony Deppen vs. Rhett Titus.

**********

Tony Deppen defeated Rhett Titus (12:23)

This match was a great display of the strengths of both wrestlers and gave Deppen a much-needed win in ROH.

Deppen tried to get cocky with Titus very early on, but Titus took him to the mat with a front facelock. Titus shifted the submission around and tried to keep Deppen’s head on a swivel. As the first commercial break ensued, Titus still had full control of Deppen after administering a few pin attempts.

When the bout returned, Titus picked the ankle of Deppen, sending both guys right back to the mat. After delivering a boot to the jaw, Deppen applied his own front facelock on the mat.

The match picked up steam at this point, with Deppen and Titus hitting their signature moves. Deppen ducked a few clotheslines from Titus but was met with Titus’ belly-to-belly suplex. Homicide came down to the ring to support Deppen, which lit a fire underneath the former ROH Television Champion.

After a second break, Titus attempted a running corner kick but got hung up. This prompted Deppen to springboard dropkick Titus to the arena floor, where he was met with a diving senton. Deppen would capitalize on this after throwing Titus back in the ring, where he delivered a chair shot to the mid-section of Titus while referee Todd Sinclair was busy with Homicide. Deppen followed it up with a running knee strike to get the win.

In a backstage promo after the match, Titus showed frustration with the fact that The Foundation didn’t help out when he was getting attacked.

**********

Violence Unlimited (Brody King & Chris Dickinson) defeated The Foundation (Jonathan Gresham & Tracy Williams) (12:52)

This was a really fun tag match that didn’t feature the usual tag match formula of the heels dominating everything.

Before the match, Violence Unlimited cut a promo. Chris Dickinson basically challenged ROH to bring Karl Gotch back from the dead to stop the faction’s current run.

Shortly before the bell rang, The Foundation jumped Violence Unlimited from behind. The chaos didn’t last for long as Brody King and Jonathan Gresham became the legal men. Gresham was isolated by both King and Dickinson as they exchanged a multitude of tags. Tracy Williams eventually snuck his way in the match and immediately planted Dickinson with a superplex before the commercial break.

Williams had a cool sequence where he practically square danced on both of Dickinson’s ankles. This was a turning point in the bout, as Gresham came in and applied a few ankle-based submissions. After a few more tags, the match went to a second break.

As the break returned, King hit an inverted atomic drop on Williams before turning it into a Boston Crab. King tagged out to Dickinson and took Gresham off the apron, making it a two-on-one affair yet again. Dickinson would go on to put Williams in a sleeper hold, prompting Williams to pass out.

**********

Jay Lethal defeated Homicide (5:37)

This was fine for what it was — but given the history, I would have had the match go longer.

The two competitors stayed out after the previous tag match and immediately went to war with each other.

Jay Lethal took out Homicide with a springboard dropkick and a trio of dives to the outside. Homicide responded with his own diving senton before both men crawled back in the ring.

The two traded big strikes to the midsection before climbing to the top rope. Lethal used the positioning to toss Homicide off the middle rope and hit a dropkick. Lethal went to attempt a Figure Four leglock and found a fork taped to the inside of Homicide’s boot. Homicide jumped up and tried to stab Lethal with the fork, but instead planted it inside of the turnbuckle.

As the match progressed, Lethal became more targeted with his strikes. After nailing Homicide with a superkick, Deppen made his presence known at ringside. Deppen went to hand Homicide a chair, but he was bulldozed by The Righteous’ Dutch who came out of nowhere. Shortly after, Lethal hit a Lethal Injection for the win.

As the show went off the air, The Righteous stood on the stage and applauded Lethal to much confusion.

Next Week —

  • ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Moses & Kaun) defend against Danhausen, PCO & Sledge
  • Quinn McKay & Rok-C vs. Miranda Alize & Max The Impaler
  • Wildcard Trick or Treat Halloween four corner survival tag team match (all of the teams will be drawn at random out of a jack-o’-lantern)

**********

Final Thoughts —

Aside from a main event that I wasn’t crazy about, this week’s episode of ROH TV was one of the better ones in recent memory. The show followed a consistent theme and wasn’t just packed with nonsensical tag team bouts. Every match was good or better, meaning:

This week’s ROH TV gets a grade of: Go Out Of Your Way to watch.

Six-Man Tag Team title match set for Halloween episode of ROH TV

The ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles will be on the line on a special Halloween edition of ROH TV.

Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Moses & Kaun) will put their Six-Man Tag Team titles on the line against Danhausen, PCO & Sledge on the episode, which premieres the weekend of Saturday, October 30. The announcement of the match was made on the latest edition of ROH Week By Week.

PCO will be departing ROH when his contract expires at the end of November.

It was also announced that the Halloween episode will feature a Wildcard Trick or Treat Halloween four corner survival tag team match where all of the teams will be drawn at random out of a jack-o’-lantern. Plus, ROH Women’s World Champion Rok-C will team with Quinn McKay against Miranda Alize & Max The Impaler.

Before the Halloween episode, this weekend’s ROH TV will be a Violence vs. Pure edition of the show pitting members of Violence Unlimited against members of The Foundation. Homicide vs. Jay Lethal, Brody King & Chris Dickinson vs. Jonathan Gresham & Tracy Williams, and Tony Deppen vs. Rhett Titus are set for the show.

Women’s title contender’s match set for ROH TV

ROH has revealed how Rok-C’s challenger for Final Battle will be decided.

Over the next several weeks, two triple threat matches will take place to determine the two wrestlers who will advance to face each other in a number one contender’s match. The winner of that match will challenge for Rok-C’s ROH Women’s World Championship at Final Battle.

The first of the triple threat matches will take place on this weekend’s episode of ROH TV. It will feature Miranda Alize, Angelina Love, and Willow.

Allysin Kay, Mandy Leon, and Trish Adora will be the participants in the second triple threat match.

The two triple threat winners will meet in their number one contender’s match the week before Final Battle. Details on when this year’s Final Battle pay-per-view will be taking place haven’t been announced.

Rok-C defeated Alize in the finals of ROH’s Women’s World Championship tournament at Death Before Dishonor last month. Rok-C is the inaugural ROH Women’s World Champion, with the title replacing the old Women of Honor World Championship.

On the latest episode of ROH TV, Rok-C was confronted by Love, Leon, Alize, Adora, Willow, and Kay. Maria Kanellis-Bennett then revealed that those would be the six wrestlers vying to challenge Rok-C at Final Battle.

Alize attacked Rok-C on the ramp after the confrontation.

ROH World Champion Bandido & Rey Horus vs. The OGK (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) is also set for this weekend’s ROH TV episode, along with The Soldiers of Savagery (Moses & Kaun) vs. Dalton Castle & Dak Draper.

Tag Team titles change hands on ROH TV

New Tag Team Champions were crowned on the pre-Death Before Dishonor episode of ROH TV.

On the ROH TV episode that premiered this weekend, Dragon Lee & Kenny King defeated Homicide & Chris Dickinson to win the ROH Tag Team titles. Lee pinned Dickinson after hitting his Incinerator knee strike to the face. Homicide was taken out when King hit a tornillo to the outside leading into the finish. King prevented him from getting back in the ring and breaking up the pin.

Lee is now a double champion in ROH. He also holds the ROH Television title.

This is the second time La Faccion Ingobernable’s Lee & King have held the ROH Tag Team titles together. They won the titles this February but then lost them to Tracy Williams & Rhett Titus at ROH’s 19th Anniversary pay-per-view in March. La Bestia del Ring was filling in for Lee in that match due to Lee suffering a ruptured eardrum.

Homicide & Dickinson won the ROH Tag Team titles from Titus & Jonathan Gresham in a Fight Without Honor at Best in the World this July. Gresham was replacing Williams in that match.

Lee, King & Bestia del Ring are challenging Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Moses & Kaun) for the ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles at this Sunday’s Death Before Dishonor PPV.

Violence Unlimited’s Homicide, Dickinson & Tony Deppen are facing John Walters, LSG & Lee Moriarty in a six-man tag match at Death Before Dishonor.

Tag Team title match announced for ROH TV

ROH has set a date for Violence Unlimited’s first Tag Team title defense.

Homicide & Chris Dickinson will defend their ROH Tag Team titles against La Faccion Ingobernable’s Dragon Lee & Kenny King on the ROH TV episode that premieres the weekend of Saturday, September 11. Homicide & Dickinson won the titles by defeating The Foundation’s Rhett Titus & Jonathan Gresham (filling in for the injured Tracy Williams) in a Fight Without Honor at July’s Best in the World pay-per-view.

Dragon Lee & King formerly held the ROH Tag Team titles together. They were champions going into ROH’s 19th Anniversary PPV this March, but Dragon Lee had to miss the show due to injury. La Bestia del Ring replaced Dragon Lee at the PPV, and he and King lost the titles to Titus & Williams.

For ROH’s Death Before Dishonor PPV, Homicide, Dickinson & Tony Deppen have issued a challenge for three Pure wrestlers to face them in a six-man tag match. The challenge has been accepted by a team consisting of one Pure wrestler from the past, one from the present, and one who is considered part of the future. The identities of Violence Unlimited’s opponents will be revealed on ROH Week By Week next Tuesday.

Death Before Dishonor is taking place on Sunday, September 12.

ROH TV results: Bandido & Rey Horus vs. Violence Unlimited

Location: Baltimore, Maryland

**********

Ian Riccaboni welcomed us to the broadcast. Riccaboni is filling in for Quinn McKay, who has a first-round Women’s World Championship tournament match against Mandy Leon scheduled for this episode.

Riccaboni recapped the matches that have taken place in the tournament so far, including a great Allysin Kay vs. Willow bout from the previous installment of Women’s Division Wednesday.

Other matches scheduled for this episode of ROH TV include Trish Adora vs. Marti Belle and ROH World Champion Bandido teaming up with Rey Horus to take on Violence Unlimited’s Brody King & Chris Dickinson.

**********

ROH Women’s title tournament first-round match: Quinn McKay defeated Mandy Leon (7:12)

As Leon was taking off her entrance gear, McKay launched herself and speared Leon with ease. Commentary played up on the fact that Leon did the same thing in their last bout.

Leon and McKay fought on the outside for a short amount of time, which allowed McKay to suplex Leon on the ringside floor.

Both women eventually made their way back into the ring, which allowed the momentum to shift in Leon’s favor. Leon did her combination shtick of beating down McKay and slowly talking trash before capitalizing on her dominance with a running facebuster.

Leon was running at McKay from the corner when McKay caught her with a big powerslam for a near fall. McKay tried to lock in a sleeper hold after, but Leon would eventually lift herself up and plant McKay with a backpack stunner.

Leon looked like she was setting up a pumphandle driver when McKay sprung her way out with Leon’s hand intact. McKay twisted up Leon in a roll-up pin that commentary called a “Bowtie,” which resulted in McKay getting the three count.

**********

ROH Women’s title tournament first-round match: Trish Adora defeated Marti Belle (7:19)

Chelsea Green joined commentary for this bout.

Adora and Belle started off with a traditional lock-up. Both women took turns trying to outsmart one another, but things got physical and dirty fast.

Belle threw some really good strikes and took control of the match for a short amount of time. Belle’s strike-based offense had Adora reeling from a constant stream of punishment. But the second Belle took her eyes off the prize, she paid the price for it.

Adora was able to regain her composure and begin beating down on Belle. She wasted no time in locking in a Cattle Mutilation submission that made Belle give up almost instantly.

**********

ROH World Champion Bandido & Rey Horus defeated Violence Unlimited (Brody King & Chris Dickinson) (10:49)

Silas Young joined commentary for this bout. He’ll face Rey Horus at Glory By Honor night one on Friday, August 20.

King and Dickinson double teamed Horus to start off until Dickinson became the legal man. Dickinson kept Horus on the mat and tried to severely limit the lucha libre style of Horus. Dickinson and King worked down Horus into a commercial break and kept him cut off from Bandido.

Coming back from the break, Dickinson and King continued to double team Horus. Horus eventually had an opening and spiked King with a tornado DDT, allowing him to tag out to Bandido.

Bandido had a great exchange with King, including a great tope over the top rope onto both King and Dickinson. But once Horus was taken out of the equation again, Violence Unlimited resorted back to beating down Bandido two-on-one.

Dickinson and Bandido had a fun back and forth which saw Bandido attempt a 23 Plex, only to be denied by Dickinson the first time. Bandido would try it again — this time with a Horus assist — and successfully execute it to pin Dickinson.

Rush, Dragon Lee, Bestia Del Ring, and Kenny King rushed the ring afterwards, beating down both the winning and losing teams. Rush ripped the mask off Bandido while the rest of La Faccion Ingobernable brawled with various members of Violence Unlimited and Horus to end the show.

**********

Final Thoughts —

I genuinely enjoyed everything that this week’s episode of ROH TV threw at me. Quinn McKay vs. Mandy Leon was a fun way to again showcase the brilliant selling skills of McKay and give her a good mid-way payoff to a story that surely isn’t over yet.

Trish Adora vs. Marti Belle was great. I hope Adora goes far in the tournament.

The main event tag match between Bandido & Rey Horus and Violence Unlimited was fun as well. Not much in terms of story advancement — just an overall fun match.

ROH TV results: Women’s title tournament begins

Location: Baltimore, Maryland

**********

The Big Takeaway —

The ROH Women’s World Championship tournament kicked off with three competitive and diverse matches.

**********

Quinn McKay welcomed us to the broadcast and seemed more ecstatic than usual, which was due to the fact that this week’s episode of TV marks the start of the Women’s World Championship tournament.

McKay then previewed the three first round matches that we’ll see tonight. They are: Miranda Alize vs. Alex Gracia, Mazzerati vs. Nicole Savoy, and Sumie Sakai vs. Rok-C.

**********

Miranda Alize defeated Alex Gracia (8:43)

Chelsea Green joined commentary for this bout.

Alize and Gracia exchanged a few different holds and attempts at moves but eventually came to a stalemate. The lucha-based styles of both women led to a few fun air-based maneuvers, but the two couldn’t seem to connect chemistry wise.

After a short commercial break, Alize and Gracia exchanged some stiff strikes and even a few headbutts. Gracia laid in a few really good chops in this match. Alize started growing frustrated with Gracia’s constant comebacks and eventually hit her signature Drive By knee strike for the win.

**********

Nicole Savoy defeated Mazzerati (8:45)

Mazzerati tried to talk big, but Savoy straight up outwrestled her in the first portion of the match. Savoy used her usual wrestling tactics that are submission based, leading to commentary comparing her to Jonathan Gresham.

These two seemed to have much better chemistry than Alize/Gracia. Savoy would attempt her signature half nelson suplex multiple times, but Mazzerati had a counter for it every time.

That didn’t stop the “Queen Of Suplexes” from hitting some, well, suplexes. Savoy hit a beautiful butterfly suplex, which led Mazzerati to counter with a Northern Lights suplex.

Mazzerati got some more great offense in during the home stretch, nailing Savoy with a stiff superkick. Savoy was able to recover and duck a few kicks from Mazzerati before eventually trapping her in a half-nelson suplex for the win.

**********

Rok-C defeated Sumie Sakai (9:36)

Sakai overwhelmed Rok-C with a flurry of offense early on, but Rok-C regained her confidence rather quickly and was able to reverse the momentum back in her favor.

Rok-C’s offense is so smooth and rhythmic that it reminds me of Sasha Banks. Her offensive style is very similar to Banks as well. She continued her momentum and nailed Sakai with a pair of double knees in the corner into a commercial break.

When the broadcast returned, Sakai was in full control. She targeted the lower back of the self proclaimed “Prodigy” and even showboated a little bit. Sakai went to the top rope to try and capitalize on her momentum, but Rok-C nailed her with two kicks to the head. Rok-C would follow it up with a top rope flip into a close near fall on Sakai.

Lots of near falls ensued in the following minutes, including a couple of phenomenal roll-up near falls. Rok-C would eventually get the better of Sakai and successfully complete a roll-up for a three count.

**********

Final Thoughts —

I thought this was a fun and exciting three-match lineup to kick off the ROH Women’s World Championship tournament. Rok-C and Sumie Sakai delivered a home run, while the other two bouts delivered an RBI. I’m very happy that ROH is focusing on younger stars like Rok-C and giving them big and meaningful wins over veterans like Sakai.

Champions vs. All-Stars set for ROH TV next month

Image: ROH

ROH has set a date for this year’s Champions vs. All-Stars match.

It was announced today that the 2021 Champions vs. All-Stars match will headline the ROH TV episode that premieres the weekend of Saturday, August 14. The 10-man tag match will see ROH World Champion Bandido, ROH Television Champion Dragon Lee, ROH Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham & ROH Tag Team Champions Homicide & Chris Dickinson team together against The Briscoes, EC3, Flip Gordon & Josh Woods.

Dragon Lee, Gresham, and Homicide & Dickinson represent different stables in ROH. Lee is part of La Faccion Ingobernable, Gresham is part of The Foundation, and Homicide & Dickinson are members of Violence Unlimited.

Bandido and Gresham both have title defenses scheduled for Glory By Honor night one on Friday, August 20. Bandido vs. Gordon for the ROH World Championship will be the main event of the show, while Gresham will defend his Pure title against Rhett Titus. Titus is one of Gresham’s stablemates in The Foundation.

The August 14 episode of ROH TV will also feature Max The Impaler vs. Holidead in an ROH Women’s World Championship tournament first-round match. It will be the final match of the first round. The tournament kicks off on ROH TV this weekend.

ROH has announced three matches for the ROH TV episode that premieres the weekend of Saturday, August 7. They are: Bandido & Rey Horus vs. Violence Unlimited’s Brody King & Tony Deppen, Quinn McKay vs. Mandy Leon (Women’s title tournament first-round match), and Trish Adora vs. Marti Belle (Women’s title tournament first-round match).

ROH TV results: Dalton Castle vs. Eli Isom vs. Dak Draper

Location: Baltimore, Maryland

**********

Quinn McKay joined us from the ROH studio to start the show. McKay revealed that beginning next week on ROH TV, the Women’s World Championship tournament will officially begin. Miranda Alize vs. Alex Gracia, Nicole Savoy vs. Mazzerati, and Sumie Sakai vs. Rok-C are all scheduled for the episode.

McKay then ran down the card for tonight’s show. After falling in defeat to Shane Taylor Promotions at the Best in the World PPV, Dalton Castle, Eli Isom and Dak Draper will face each other in a triple threat bout. PCO vs. Sledge and Flip Gordon vs. The World Famous CB are our other matches.

**********

Flip Gordon defeated The World Famous CB (8:46)

Gordon and CB started off the bout by exchanging various wristlocks and holds. CB got an early advantage and was able to start working Gordon down into the commercial break.

Coming back from the break, CB had full control of the wrist of Gordon. Gordon eventually got frustrated with the style CB was working, which led to him showing a more aggressive side. Gordon took the match to the outside and hit an impressive axe handle from the top of a barricade before rolling CB back in the ring.

Gordon took a breather for a moment before charging at CB, who dodged out of harm’s way and sent Gordon shoulder-first into the turnbuckle. CB wasted no time and capitalized on Gordon’s arm injury by performing a running bulldog to the arm.

CB’s success wouldn’t last long, though. Gordon popped up rather quickly and caught CB on the top rope with a superkick. Gordon followed it up with his version of the STF for the win.

**********

PCO vs. Sledge ended in a no contest (9:43)

Danhausen joined commentary for this match.

PCO and Sledge wasted no time getting right into the match, with both men exchanging stiff strikes early. Sledge held his own well with the former ROH World Champion, and the two ended up having a very physical bout.

It was pretty even throughout until PCO dove onto Sledge on the outside. PCO followed that up with a brutal-looking senton onto Sledge, who was laying on the apron. PCO looked to be in full control before he “malfunctioned,” to which Sledge took advantage of by kicking him in the head.

Referee Joe Mandak went to check on PCO, but he was greeted with a shove. Sledge also shoved Mandak, therefore prompting him to throw the match out.

**********

Triple threat match: Dak Draper defeated Eli Isom and Dalton Castle (6:21)

This bout got out of hand rather quickly and spilled to the outside within the first few seconds. Most of the action was between Isom and Draper, with Castle attempting to pick the leftovers. Draper got so frustrated with Castle at one point that he just heaved him over the barricade at full speed.

Isom and Draper have fantastic chemistry and they had a great exchange while Castle was recovering at ringside, including an incredible second rope moonsault from Isom to the outside onto Draper.

While Isom was celebrating, Castle re-emerged and launched a chair into Isom’s face. Castle then encouraged Draper to get in the ring and take advantage of Isom, which he did. Draper hit the Magnum KO for the win shortly after.

**********

Final Thoughts —

Eli Isom is quickly becoming one of my favorite wrestlers in the company. Isom’s past ventures in ROH have been very underwhelming, but since making his return this year he’s been great. Dak Draper is quite enjoyable as well. Otherwise, this was a bit of a throwaway show with nothing of great importance happening.

First three Women’s title tournament matches set for ROH TV

Image: ROH

ROH’s Women’s World Championship tournament will be kicking off with three matches airing on ROH television later this month.

ROH announced today that Miranda Alize vs. Alex Gracia, Mazzerati vs. Nicole Savoy, and Sumie Sakai vs. Rok-C will air on the ROH TV episode that premieres the weekend of Saturday, July 31.

The tournament features 15 participants, with Angelina Love getting a first-round bye. One of the spots in the tournament is still open.

Quinn McKay has been involved in an angle where Angelina Love and Mandy Leon have twice prevented her from qualifying for the tournament. If McKay defeated Leon on this past weekend’s ROH TV episode, McKay would have gotten the final spot. But McKay lost when Love gave Leon brass knuckles to use behind the referee’s back.

After the way that McKay vs. Leon ended, Maria Kanellis-Bennett will be making two announcements regarding the tournament early next week.

The ROH Women’s World Championship is a new title that’s replacing the former Women of Honor World Championship. The finals will take place at ROH’s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view this September.

Here’s the bracket for the tournament:

Left side of the bracket —

  • Sumie Sakai vs. Rok-C
  • Mandy Leon vs. to be determined
  • Max The Impaler vs. Holidead
  • Angelina Love getting a first-round bye

Right side of the bracket —

  • Miranda Alize vs. Alex Gracia
  • Mazzerati vs. Nicole Savoy
  • Allysin Kay vs. Willow Nightingale
  • Marti Belle vs. Trish Adora

ROH TV results: Jay Briscoe vs. Mark Briscoe Fight on the Farm

The Big Takeaway —

Jonathan Gresham continued his domination of the Pure division by retaining his title against Fred Yehi. In the main event, the Briscoe brothers fought out their differences on their family farm.

Quinn McKay welcomed us to the broadcast and ran down the card. Tonight’s episode features Jonathan Gresham defending his ROH Pure Championship against Fred Yehi. Also, The Briscoe brothers will face off in the “Fight on the Farm.”

McKay recapped last week’s episode and officially announced that Bandido will challenge for Rush’s ROH World Championship at Sunday’s Best in the World pay-per-view.

McKay also announced that Mike Bennett will challenge for the Pure Championship at the PPV. But Jonathan Gresham and Fred Yehi will first have to battle it out for the title on tonight’s episode.

ROH Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham defeated Fred Yehi to retain his title (12:16)

Mike Bennett was on commentary for this match.

Yehi seemed to overwhelm Gresham in the beginning with his aggressiveness. Both men had an arm drag contest that spilled to the outside and continued on the arena floor, but it led to a stalemate. This led into a commercial break.

Back from the break and Yehi continued to frustrate Gresham with his aggressiveness. The match got really grimy at this point, with Yehi rubbing his wristband in Gresham’s face. The bout also picked up some speed, with multiple moves being countered and both guys duking it out at high speed.

Yehi’s frustration began to get the best of him, allowing Gresham to capitalize on his mistakes. Yehi missed a few key stomps, which allowed Gresham to pick his ankle and roll him into a schoolboy pin for a three count.

Gresham held the Pure title in Yehi’s face after the match, teasing a bit of a more heel-like side.

Gresham’s post-match interview featured him telling Yehi to go back to wrestling school, and telling Mike Bennett that he doesn’t have a lick of respect for him.

Fight on the Farm: Jay Briscoe vs. Mark Briscoe

Both brothers started out in a ring that stands in a warehouse on their farm. Papa Briscoe seemed to be the referee for this fight.

Mark went for a dive onto Jay on the outside but was clocked with a frying pan instead. Jay then swung a shovel at Mark, but Mark moved out of the way. Papa informed them to get back in the ring, to which they did.

Mark went to the top rope and was looking for a frog splash, but Jay shoved him off the top and he went crashing into a table.

The fight took itself out of the warehouse at this point, with both guys kicking and punching each other while walking. Jay smacked Mark with a giant metal water bowl and then set up a plank of wood on the bed of his truck. Jay was looking to put Mark through this, but Mark low blowed Jay and put him through it instead.

The brothers then climbed to the top of a RV. They traded a few forearms before Jay threw Mark off the RV onto a tarped structure. Jay climbed down and tossed Mark in the bed of his truck and commanded that the cameraman ride with him.

Jay had some pop music playing in the truck, which only added to the humor. Jay drove to the other side of the farm where he said he was going to compost his brother.

Mark attacked Jay the second he got out of the truck, then clocked him with a real estate sign. Mark then set Jay on a table beneath a roofed structure before climbing the structure and hitting a splash onto his brother through the table.

Papa Briscoe helped both brothers up and walked them back to the ring. Both Briscoes eventually made it back to their feet and started slugging it out, all while Papa repeatedly screamed “You good yet?” multiple times. This was really stiff and hard hitting.

Eventually, Mark clotheslined Jay and it sent both brothers crashing to the mat. Papa Briscoe asked them one more time if they were “good yet,” to which both brothers replied yes.

Final Thoughts —

This was a very fun episode of ROH TV leading into the Best in the World PPV, which is taking place this Sunday.

Jonathan Gresham and Fred Yehi had a fun match that I think the company will revisit in the future. While being a good match, I think they definitely left some stuff out for a potential bigger rematch down the line. I hope Yehi is a mainstay in the Pure division — he’s really entertaining.

The Fight on the Farm was just a load of fun. I know that cinematic matches are quite controversial in the wrestling world, but I personally enjoy the hell out of them. While I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Matt Taven/Vincent cinematic match back at the 19th Anniversary PPV, this was really fun and had some great spots involved. Adding Papa Briscoe to the equation only made for a more enjoyable time.

In recent weeks I’ve introduced a scale in order to let you know if the current week of TV is worth your while. The scale is as follows:

  • Must-Watch TV
  • Go Out Of Your Way
  • Recommended Viewing
  • Watch YouTube Clips
  • Avoid At All Costs

This week’s episode of ROH TV is: Go Out Of Your Way

ROH sets date for Gresham vs. Yehi Pure title match

ROH has set the date for Jonathan Gresham’s next Pure Championship defense.

On the latest edition of ROH Week By Week, it was announced that Gresham will defend his Pure Championship against Fred Yehi on the ROH TV episode that premieres the weekend of Saturday, July 3. ROH had announced earlier this month that Yehi would be getting a Pure title shot.

Yehi has won three straight matches in ROH. He won a Pure Rules gauntlet match in March and has since defeated Rocky Romero and The World Famous CB (Cheeseburger) in Pure Rules matches.

Gresham won a tournament last year to become the first ROH Pure Champion since 2006. The title had been unified with the ROH World Championship in 2006 before being brought back last year.

Gresham’s most recent Pure title defense was against his The Foundation stablemate Jay Lethal on the 500th episode of ROH TV this April.

The July 3 edition of ROH TV will also feature Jay Briscoe vs. Mark Briscoe in the “Fight on the Farm.” The match is being held at The Briscoes’ family farm in Sandy Fork, Delaware.

ROH announces Jay Briscoe vs. Mark Briscoe ‘Fight on the Farm’

Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe are set for another match against each other — but this time it will take place on their family farm.

ROH has announced that Jay Briscoe vs. Mark Briscoe in the “Fight on the Farm” will air on the ROH TV episode that premieres the weekend of Saturday, July 3. In storyline, The Briscoes’ father Papa Briscoe is again trying to get Jay and Mark to settle their differences by facing each other.

Mark defeated Jay by countout when they faced off in the main event of ROH TV’s 500th episode this April. Jay & Mark then teamed up against EC3 & Flip Gordon on ROH TV in May, but EC3 & Gordon won when Gordon hit Mark with Jay’s chain.

A video aired on the latest ROH TV episode with Jay and Mark in front of the ring at their farm. Jay blamed Mark for their loss against EC3 & Gordon. Papa Briscoe then walked up and said Jay and Mark still haven’t gotten things right between them. Papa Briscoe said they’ll get things right old-school style with a Fight on the Farm.
