The Undisputed WWE Tag Team titles were on the line in the main event of SmackDown’s go-home show for Hell in a Cell.
The Usos made their first defense as undisputed champions as they took on Riddle & Shinsuke Nakamura last night. Though The Usos retained their titles, they needed help from Sami Zayn to do it.
Riddle ended up facing The Usos on his own for much of the match after an injury angle where The Usos took out Nakamura’s knee. Riddle appeared to be on the verge of winning when Zayn caused a distraction. From the production truck, Zayn played Roman Reigns’ theme music as Riddle was going to give Jimmy Uso an RKO from the top rope. The distraction led to Jey Uso tagging himself in as Riddle hit the move. When Riddle landed, Jey flew off the top rope with a splash to win the match.
The show ended with Riddle attacking Zayn and brawling with him and The Usos.
Plus, Natalya won a six-pack challenge for a future title shot against Ronda Rousey, Madcap Moss returned and was out for payback against Happy Corbin, and more.
Two matches have been announced for tonight’s Hell in a Cell go-home edition of SmackDown.
The Undisputed WWE Tag Team titles will be on the line as The Usos defend against Riddle & Shinsuke Nakamura tonight. Riddle & Nakamura earned the title shot by defeating The Usos by disqualification on Raw this Monday.
The Usos got themselves disqualified in Monday’s non-title match when they attacked Riddle with his own scooter.
The Usos became the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions when they defeated Riddle & Randy Orton in a title unification match on SmackDown two weeks ago. Following that match, there was an angle where Roman Reigns and The Usos attacked Riddle and Orton. Orton hasn’t appeared on WWE television since then.
It’s also been announced that there will be a six-pack challenge on SmackDown tonight. The winner will become the number one contender to Ronda Rousey’s SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Raquel Rodriguez, Natalya, Shayna Baszler, Xia Li, Shotzi, and Aliyah will be the participants in the six-pack challenge.
WWE’s announcement didn’t confirm when the winner will be getting their title shot against Rousey.
The Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio is hosting tonight’s SmackDown. Here’s the updated lineup for the episode:
Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos defend against Riddle & Shinsuke Nakamura
Number one contender’s six-pack challenge: Raquel Rodriguez vs. Natalya vs. Shayna Baszler vs. Xia Li vs. Shotzi vs. Aliyah
The Usos vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Riddle is currently not planned for WWE Hell in a Cell.
Riddle and Nakamura earned a title shot for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships by defeating the Usos via disqualification in a non-title match on Raw. Our own Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the match will not take place on Sunday’s pay-per-view, however.
“The Usos match with Nakamura and Riddle was not scheduled for Sunday’s pay-per-view. Now, it could be on Sunday’s pay-per-view,” Meltzer said. “They are doing the match, the plan was to do it in Vegas (Money in the Bank), which of course if you recall, the plan for Vegas was Roman Reigns against Riddle. Now, Roman Reigns is not necessarily off that show but Roman Reigns and Riddle is probably off the show but they can always change their mind, they can change everything tomorrow.”
WWE Hell in a Cell takes place Sunday, June 5 from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. The lineup for the card is as follows:
Hell in a Cell match: Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins
Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair defends against Asuka and Becky Lynch in a triple threat match
Handicap match: Bobby Lashley vs. Omos & MVP
Kevin Owens vs. Ezekiel
United States Champion Theory defends against Mustafa Ali
Six-person mixed tag team match: The Judgment Day (Edge, Damian Priest & Rhea Ripley) vs. AJ Styles, Finn Balor & Liv Morgan
A championship contender’s match and two new segments have been announced for Monday’s WWE Raw episode.
In a bout set up on Friday’s SmackDown, Riddle and Shinsuke Nakamura will team against undisputed Tag Team Champions The Usos in a championship contender’s match.
Also announced for Raw, a contract signing will be held for the Bobby Lashley vs. Omos and MVP handicap match set for Hell in a Cell.
Additionally, Cody Rhodes will respond to Seth Rollins following Rollins attacking Rhodes during a Rhodes vs. The Miz match on last week’s Raw episode. Raw will take place in Rollins’ home state of Iowa on Monday. Rollins and Rhodes will square off inside Hell in a Cell on June 5.
Here is the updated lineup for Raw:
WWE Raw, Monday, May 30 —
Championship contender’s match: The Usos vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Riddle
While plans are far from being locked in, WWE is discussing Riddle, Randy Orton, and Drew McIntyre as the potential next three opponents for Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE is talking about having Riddle face Reigns at Money in the Bank, Orton face Reigns at SummerSlam, and McIntyre face Reigns at Clash at the Castle. Meltzer added that none of these plans are close to being etched in stone:
Right now the talk is, and none of this is close to etched in stone, that Reigns wrestles Riddle on 7/2, Orton on 7/30 and McIntyre on 9/3.
Money in the Bank (Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas), SummerSlam (Nissan Stadium in Nashville), and Clash at the Castle (Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales) are all stadium shows.
Reigns unified the Universal Championship with the WWE Championship when he defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38. Reigns hasn’t had a televised title defense since then.
Reigns was originally advertised for June’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view but will no longer be working that show. Reigns has signed a new contract with WWE and will have a lighter schedule going forward.
At WrestleMania Backlash earlier this month, Reigns & The Usos defeated McIntyre & RK-Bro in a six-man tag match. Reigns pinned Riddle to get the win.
Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro are facing SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos in a title unification match on tonight’s SmackDown.
A contract signing and a match have been added to tonight’s SmackDown.
Ahead of WrestleMania Backlash, tonight’s SmackDown will feature Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey taking part in a contract signing for their match at the pay-per-view. Charlotte is defending her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Rousey in an “I Quit” match at WrestleMania Backlash on Sunday, May 8.
Charlotte vs. Rousey is a rematch from WrestleMania 38. After using a ref bump to her advantage, Charlotte retained the SmackDown Women’s title against Rousey at WrestleMania. Charlotte had tapped out to an armbar during the match, but the referee was knocked out and didn’t see it.
Riddle vs. Jey Uso has also been announced for tonight’s SmackDown. This will be the second straight week that Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro have appeared on the show. In last week’s main event, Riddle defeated Jimmy Uso.
RK-Bro are facing SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos in a title unification match at WrestleMania Backlash.
Tonight’s SmackDown is being held at MVP Arena in Albany, New York. Here’s the updated lineup for the episode:
Riddle vs. Jey Uso
Charlotte Flair-Ronda Rousey WrestleMania Backlash contract signing
Randy Orton was a guest on Thursday’s Pat McAfee Show and talked about difficulties working with wrestlers from NXT, his program with Bray Wyatt, and Edge’s return.
Orton noted that Edge’s return has been refreshing for him because many of today’s performers are not as focused on protecting their opponent.
“There’s an art to what we do and a lot of guys have lost that art,” Orton said.
“When Vince (McMahon) was on, he talked about your number one priority, above all, being protecting your opponent. That’s not taught, necessarily, in NXT. I know that because I’ve been in the ring with guys that came from NXT and they don’t what the f**k they’re doing. It’s unfortunate, but that is just how things are changing.”
He then spoke about how working with Edge allows him to tell a story in the ring.
“I can trust this guy. I can give this guy my body in this ring and tell this story and I don’t have to, in the back of my head, worry about him only being concerned with looking cool in that ring and hitting the f**k out of me and taking my head off.”
“[Edge] made me realize that I can go 45 minutes with a guy that knows what the f**k he’s doing,” Orton continued. “Where are these other guys that know what f**k they’re doing?”
Orton then spoke about his program with Bray Wyatt, which he referred to as “a little odd.”
“There was some issues where he was unable to do a lot of stuff in the ring for awhile so that got weird, but Bray Wyatt’s a hell of a f**king talent.”
He then spoke about enjoying his time working with Riddle.
“For the last year, I’ve been out there with him. He’s only been wrestling for six years, but he just gets it. He knows how to sell and he captivates those people. He captivates me,” Orton continued.
Two segments for Monday’s WWE Raw were announced during Friday’s SmackDown.
After “Stone Cold” Steve Austin answered his call to appear on the KO Show at WrestleMania 38, Kevin Owens will respond to Austin on Monday night. Austin vowed to “open one last can of whoop ass” on Owens at WrestleMania. The KO Show with Austin will take place on night one of WrestleMania on Saturday, April 2.
Also announced for Raw, Randy Orton and Riddle will have an RK-Bro Championship Celebration. Orton and Riddle captured the Raw Tag Team Championship on this past Monday’s Raw in a triple threat match that also featured Alpha Academy’s Chad Gable and Otis, plus Owens and Seth “Freakin” Rollins. RK-Bro are now in the midst of their second reign with the Raw Tag Team titles.
Raw airs live Monday at 8 p.m. Eastern time from Jacksonville, Florida at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
RK-Bro are set to celebrate following their Academic Challenge win on Raw, securing a future Raw Tag Team Championship match.
The Quiz Bowl had been tied when Gable and Otis were asked a question regarding how many grams were in an ounce. Gable incorrectly answered, allowing Riddle and Orton a chance to answer the question. Orton cut off Riddle and told him that he wasn’t the only one who “baked” and correctly answered 28 grams. With the Academic Challenge win, the team will get a future Raw Tag Team title match against Alpha Academy.
After Riddle and Orton won tonight’s Quiz Bowl, Riddle backstage suggested a celebration next week, with the duo wearing togas. Randy Orton did not seem interested in Riddle’s suggestion.
Gable and Otis tied the series last week when Gable had Otis attack Riddle, allowing Gable to win the scooter race that was held between the two. In the first challenge, Riddle and Orton won a spelling bee contest.
Date: February 7, 2022 Location: Ball Arena in Denver, CO
Show Recap —
Jimmy Smith announced that the first hour of Raw on Syfy tonight would be commercial-free. Tonight’s show will have appearances by Lita and WWE Champion Bobby Lashley here in his hometown, as well as Riddle vs. Seth Rollins.
Academic Challenge: Quiz Bowl — Randy Orton & Riddle defeated Chad Gable & Otis
Chad Gable, who received pretty good heat, interrupted Kevin Patrick’s introduction. Gable explained the rules and said the first team to five points would win.
Patrick ran down the nine categories. Gable chose “U.S. Presidents” and the question asked who was the first to be elected to office with a college degree. Gable said he knew all about degrees thanks to his Master’s degree and told the fans not to boo education. Gable called George Washington a dumb-dumb before correctly guessing John Adams. 1-0 Alpha.
Riddle chose “Biology” and corrected guessed that an octopus has three hearts. 1-1. Gable chose “Greek Mythology” and correctly guessed that Icarus flew too close to the sun. 2-1 Alpha. Orton chose “Cartoons” and Riddle correctly guessed that Michelangelo was the Ninja Turtle that used nunchucks. 2-2. Gable was offended by the question.
Orton said Otis should answer the next one. Otis chose “Geography” and correctly guessed that Texas was the biggest of the 48 continental states. 3-2 Alpha. Otis said if it was the state was the lowest IQ, it would be Colorado.
RK-Bro chose “Pop Culture” next and the question was about the Baldwins. Neither of them knew the answer and Orton incorrectly guessed Alec Baldwin. Gable guessed it right to steal the point. 4-2 Alpha.
Gable asked for “Film & Movies.” Gable got it wrong as Otis kept saying, “ham” (which was a clue). Riddle correctly guessed that Hamlet is the Shakespeare play that has been adapted the most. 4-3 Alpha.
Orton asked for “Sports” and the question asked which quarterback threw the most touchdowns in team history. Orton knew the answer but let the Denver crowd help him correctly guess John Elway. 4-4. Gable wasn’t happy. The crowd told him that he sucked.
The last question was “Metric Conversions” and asked how many grams were in an ounce. Gable got it wrong. Riddle was about to answer but Orton said he’d take it and told Riddle he’s not the only one that bakes, bro. Orton correctly guessed 28 grams. RK-Bro win the Quiz Bowl and earn a tag title match.
Gable was pissed. Orton and Riddle bragged before they left. Gable whined and fell to the floor as the buzzer repeatedly went off.
The Street Profits entered and rubbed it in. Gable said they were about to get their asses kicked. Otis knocked down Montez Ford from behind. (We were about 22 minutes into the show by the time this was done.)
Non-title match: Raw Tag Team Champions Alpha Academy defeated The Street Profits (5:36)
Angelo Dawkins almost had it won after giving Gable a Silencer but Otis broke up the cover. Ford knocked Otis out of the ring and wiped him out with a flip dive. Dawkins and Gable exchanged counters until Gable caught him in a rollup for the pinfall win.
********
There was a Lita video package.
Even though they said the first hour would be commercial-free, there was a Syfy ad for one of their shows followed by a trailer for WWE2K22.
********
Bobby Lashley and MVP segment
MVP introduced Bobby Lashley the way Paul Heyman introduces Brock Lesnar. The hometown crowd gave Lashley a standing ovation. MVP ran down recent events and the crowd booed the insinuation that Lashley only beat Lesnar because of Roman Reigns.
MVP said it should have been declared Bobby Lashley Day after his win but instead, they found out that he’d have to defend his title inside the Elimination Chamber. MVP said Lesnar did deserve credit for winning the Royal Rumble and deserved to face Reigns at WrestleMania. However, it was pure fantasy to think that Lesnar would take Lashley’s title at the Chamber.
MVP didn’t want to discredit the other Chamber competitors. He called AJ Styles and Seth Rollins two of the best to have ever done it, while Riddle and Austin Theory were the future of the company. But none of them compared to Lashley who was the baddest monster of them all.
Lashley insulted Lesnar, bringing up how infrequently he defended the title and wondered when was the last time he even wrestled on Raw. Lashley looked forward to pinning Lesnar once again. When Lesnar wakes up in the hospital, he could look forward to wrestling Reigns while Lashley went on to main event WrestleMania.
********
Alexa Bliss segment
The psychiatrist admitted that Alexa Bliss and the replica Lilly looked good together (Bliss appeared to be in a good mood). He asked her to hand over the toy. She did but began crying. There was cheesy music playing in the background as they faded to black.
********
AJ Styles defeated US Champion Damian Priest in a non-title match (4:58)
They had a back-and-forth match. After a strike exchange, Styles hit a Pelé Kick which resulted in Priest collapsing on Styles for a nearfall. Priest knocked Styles off the top rope as he went for a Phenomenal forearm but as Priest ran off the opposite rope, Styles hit a great-looking Phenomenal forearm for the pinfall win.
The crowd liked Styles more than Priest and popped for the finish. Priest turned on his angry face after the match. (So they’re still teasing a heel turn for Priest.)
********
They announced a Women’s Elimination Chamber match with the winner earning a Raw Women’s title match at WrestleMania. The competitors so far are Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Doudrop and Nikki ASH. One more wrestler is still to be determined.
There was an NXT commercial.
Seth Rollins approached Kevin Owens as he warmed up. Owens said he would beat Theory tonight and they would have no choice but to put him in the Chamber match. Rollins acted like he was on Owens’ side but Owens didn’t believe him.
(The “commercial-free” first hour of Raw was very talk-heavy which I’m sure was deliberate. Of course, the second hour is starting with…)
[Second Hour]
Miz TV with Miz & Maryse and guests Rey & Dominik Mysterio
Miz introduced their guests Rey and Dominik Mysterio who received a good reaction. Rey basically accused Miz of cheating to win last week and Miz took offense. The crowd called him a cheater, too. Miz said Edge and Beth Phoenix cheated in their match and it never bothered anyone when Eddie Guerrero cheated. Miz said it was the Mysterios’ own fault that they lost last week.
Miz was offended that Rey got an opportunity to qualify for the Chamber while he didn’t. Miz noted that he was Mr. Money in the Bank and Rey said he cheated to win that, too. Miz said he beat Drew McIntyre and Rey again said he cheated to win. Miz ranted at the crowd for not getting enough credit. Miz thought he or Maryse should be on the cover of the video game, not Rey.
Dominik got in Miz’s face and told him to show his father some respect. Miz was amused and called for a rematch. Dominik accepted. Miz noted that Dominik was much taller than Rey and said, “are you sure you’re not Eddie’s son?” The crowd chanted for Eddie. Dominik decked Miz.
(There’s been way too much talking so far but I enjoyed this more than I thought I would and the crowd was into it.)
Dominik Mysterio (w/Rey Mysterio) defeated The Miz (w/Maryse) (1:40)
Maryse blatantly tripped Dominik a minute into the match. The ref told them not to call for the bell and instead tossed Maryse from ringside. As the ref told her to leave, Rey tripped Miz for real this time which led to Dominik using a schoolboy for the pinfall win. (Byron Saxton called this the biggest win of Dominik’s career.)
********
Austin Theory was shown speaking with Vince McMahon in his office.
Bianca Belair defeated Nikki ASH (3:59)
Nikki targetted Belair’s leg and applied a single leg crab. Belair came back with a fallaway slam, body slams and a delayed vertical suplex for two (while still selling her leg). Nikki hit a tornado DDT for two. Belair kicked Nikki’s head into the ring post before hitting a KOD for the pinfall win.
********
R-Truth, Tamina and Akira Tozawa were shown running through the back. They unknowingly ran right past Dana Brooke and Reggie. Brooke thanked Reggie for everything he’s done for her and she kissed him on the cheek. He asked her what that meant and she said it meant that they were friends (the crowd expressed their disappointment in that response). They hugged and teased kissing on the lips but they didn’t. They eventually ran off upon seeing the 24/7 crew coming in their direction.
********
Kevin Owens defeated Austin Theory (9:05)
Theory tried driving Owens back-first into the steel steps like he did last week but Owens fought him off and hit a senton off the steps which led to break.
Owens nailed a cannonball followed by a splash off the apron. (Corey Graves was surprised to hear that the fans were cheering Owens.) Owens went for a stunner but Theory countered into a back suplex for two. Owens hit a rolling fireman’s carry off the top which really popped the crowd. He tried a senton but Theory got his knees up.
However, Owens followed soon after with a stunner for the pinfall win. This felt like a pretty decisive win for Owens. The crowd was really into him, too.
********
Riddle told Orton how excited he was to wrestle for the tag titles. Orton told him he had a huge opportunity to main event WrestleMania on top of that, but also had to focus on Rollins tonight. Riddle seemed focused. He left. But then he came back and told Orton they should have a party next week. Orton told him to focus on tonight.
********
There was a video on Olympian Jacqueline Joyner-Kersee who Bianca Belair recently had the opportunity to meet.
[Third Hour]
Veer Mahan is coming.
Lita/Becky Lynch segment
Lita entered. She was excited to be on Raw in Denver. She was thrilled she got to be in the Rumble with the likes of Charlotte Flair, Ronda Rousey, Bianca Belair, and Rhea Ripley. Lita began speaking about Becky Lynch until Lynch interrupted.
Lynch mentioned Rousey running scared before saying it was great to hear her teenage idol say such nice things about her. She declined Lita’s challenge last week but there was a reason. Lynch idolized her growing up. On top of that, a lot of people turned up their noses at her when she arrived in WWE, but Lita didn’t and she was grateful for that. The crowd cheered.
Lynch said there would be no Becky Lynch without Lita but now that there was a Becky Lynch, there should be no Lita. The title was the most important thing to her and this was the most important time of the year. She had to get rid of friends and the fans to keep her title and had no problem doing that. She’d also have no problem putting down Lita.
Lita admitted that Lynch was the odds-on-favourite but she had no problem being the underdog. She was a punk-rock, dumpster-diving kid who chased her dreams, but it was the fans who helped her become a 4-time champion. The fans chanted her name while she lived her dream. She hasn’t had a title shot in 15 years but the fans still support her and she liked her odds.
Lita said Lynch should worry about how she’d feel when Lita became 5-time champion. Lynch said the fans were all Lita would ever have.
Lynch attacked but Lita fought back and gave her a Twist of Fate and moonsault.
This was pretty good.
********
Owens approached Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville (who had her arm in a sling thanks to Rousey). Owens asked them if he’d be in the Chamber thanks to his win. They said no — the qualifying match was last week. Owens couldn’t believe it. They were pretty dismissive and Deville said Owens may not even be on WrestleMania.
Owens said they can’t take this from him or the people of Texas because Texas loved him. Owens said he became Universal champ in Texas and he had his first Mania in Texas. He knew everything about Texas — the cowboy boots, the rodeos, the bulls (he pointed at his bull tattoo). He told them that he needed this and asked them to think about this.
********
Doudrop defeated Liv Morgan (8:04)
A Doudrop crossbody led to break one minute into the match. Doudrop remained in control until Morgan came back with a dropkick off the middle rope, followed by a Codebreaker for two. Doudrop followed with a facebuster for two. Morgan went to the middle rope but Doudrop yanked her down and hit a Vader Bomb for the pinfall win.
This was short thanks to the commercial break but the action was good while it lasted.
********
Alexa Bliss segment #2
The psychiatrist said Bliss cried when she handed back the doll but she remained calm and that was progress. Bliss also recalled getting cut off by another driver recently but she didn’t retaliate. Someone else took her parking spot but she remained calm and got another spot instead.
On top of that, an evil creature of a woman jumped in front of her in line at the grocery store. He asked what this creature looked like. Bliss basically described Lilly before saying she chucked her down in the aisle before hitting her with a loaf of bread. The guy said they had more work to do.

Next week on Raw on Syfy:
Damian Priest defends US Title against AJ Styles
Brock Lesnar appears
RK-Broga Party
********
Rollins told Patrick he planned on main eventing WrestleMania as the champion.
Riddle defeated Seth Rollins via DQ (7:42)
Rollins powerbombed Riddle into the barricade barely a minute into the match and that led to a break. Rollins remained in control until Riddle came back with a Pelé kick, forearms and a suplex. Riddle followed with a PK before wiping out Rollins with a dive.
Owens ran out through the crowd and attacked Riddle for the abrupt DQ. Orton ran down and laid out Owens with an RKO. Graves wondered what might happen next.
Seth Rollins & Kevin Owens defeated Riddle & Randy Orton (8:09 of TV time)
Jimmy Smith couldn’t believe what we were seeing, a tag team match.
Owens was down and Rollins tried to get him back into it by smacking him on the shoulder. Owens screamed at him and told him he just got hit with an RKO (which was funny).
Orton gave Rollins a backdrop onto the announce table. Riddle tagged in but so did Owens and he cut off Riddle with a superkick. They worked over Riddle until Riddle dodged a Rollins frog splash before hitting Owens with a knee strike.
Orton made the hot tag and hit Rollins with clotheslines, a powerslam, and draping DDT (Owens ate a powerslam too). Rollins blocked an RKO as Riddle tagged himself in. He knocked down Owens and Rollins with kicks but Rollins came back with consecutive elbow strikes. Rollins followed with a curb stomp for the pinfall win. (The finish felt a bit flat.)
Orton gave Owens an RKO following the match. Rollins laughed and walked away.
A match between Seth Rollins and Riddle, along with an appearance from Lita, is scheduled for this coming Monday’s Raw.
Rollins and Riddle are both in the Elimination Chamber, which takes place on February 19 in Saudi Arabia. Rollins announced he had been added to the match on the Kevin Owens Show this past Monday on Raw. Riddle qualified on Raw after defeating Otis in a match.
Following her appearance at the Royal Rumble, Lita appeared on Raw and challenged Lynch to a match at Elimination Chamber for the Raw Women’s Championship. Lynch, who had just confronted Royal Rumble winner Ronda Rousey, at first said no. But after Lita asked if she was scared, Lynch ended up accepting the challenge.
Already announced for Raw, which will air on the SYFY channel due to ongoing coverage of the Olympic Winter Games, is a Quiz Bowl in the third and final stage of the Academic Challenge between RK-Bro and Alpha Academy.
A Quiz Bowl acedemic challenge between RK-Bro and Alpha Academy has been announced for next week’s Raw.
Chad Gable named the stipulation on tonight’s Raw after he defeated Riddle in a scooter race. Gable told Riddle after the announcement that he would lose, and RK-Bro wouldn’t get a rematch for the Raw Tag Team titles.
The scooter race had both Riddle and Gable use scooters to circle around the backstage area in a 50-lap race. As they started to reach the finish line, Gable tripped, seemingly giving Riddle the win. However, as Riddle was about to cross the finish line, Otis emerged and attacked Riddle, allowing Gable time to recover and eventually cross the finish line for the win.
After the contest, Gable was mad that Riddle had “run into” Otis and gave Riddle a match against his pupil. Before the match started, Adam Pearce announced that the winner of the match would qualify for the Elimination Chamber match next month. Riddle ended up pinning Otis to qualify.
Raw next week will air on the SyFy channel due to Winter Olympic Games coverage on USA.
Seven new participants have been confirmed for this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match.

WWE has announced that Monday’s Raw will feature a Raw Tag Team title match with RK-Bro (Randy Orton & Riddle) defending against Alpha Academy (Chad Gable & Otis).
The match comes after Alpha Academy defeated RK-Bro in a non-title bout on Raw earlier this week. Gable & Otis attacked Riddle & Orton before the match started.
RK-Bro have held the Raw Tag Team titles since winning them from AJ Styles & Omos at SummerSlam 2021. At Day 1 last Saturday, Orton & Riddle retained against The Street Profits .

Riddle and WALTER will be on opposite sides of a six-man tag team match at NXT New Year’s Evil.
WWE has announced that Riddle & MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter) will face Imperium (WALTER & NXT Tag Team Champions Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) at New Year’s Evil next Tuesday. The show is a special episode of NXT. It’s airing live on USA Network at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
Barthel & Aichner won the NXT Tag Team titles from MSK at Halloween Havoc this October. After MSK’s loss, Riddle was revealed as their shaman as they tried to get back on track and get back to the NXT Tag Team titles.
Last week, Riddle encouraged MSK to call out Imperium tonight and said he’d be on the show with them. Barthel & Aichner also teased that WALTER would be appearing. Riddle and WALTER were both on the show via video to set up next week’s six-man tag match. When MSK called out Imperium for an NXT Tag Team title rematch, WALTER said they weren’t worthy. Riddle then challenged Imperium to face him and MSK in a six-man tag match next week.
This will be WALTER’s first televised match in WWE since losing the NXT United Kingdom Championship to Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36 this August. WALTER was also in action at WWE’s house show tour of the United Kingdom in November.
Riddle & Randy Orton are the current Raw Tag Team Champions. They’re set to defend their titles against The Street Profits at WWE Day 1 this Saturday.
Riddle won’t be the only main roster star at New Year’s Evil. WWE has also announced that AJ Styles, who is feuding with Grayson Waller, will be appearing at the show.
