Roots of Fight teases WWE deal after Ric Flair removal

Ric Flair’s removal from Roots of Fight now makes more sense.

The clothing company posted a teaser today hyping that it will soon be announcing a deal with WWE. Roots of Fight already offers merchandise based on WWE stars CM Punk and Rey Mysterio and legends like Bret Hart and Randy Savage. Flair — who is under contract with AEW — also had a merchandise deal with the brand but found out this week that he can no longer be associated with them.

Flair announced the removal on Tuesday, claiming that WWE was trying to “destroy” his legacy by not letting him be part of Roots of Fight. But he quickly reversed course, posting a video the following day where he thanked Roots of Fight for letting him represent the brand while they were partners. Flair said he understood it was a business decision and noted that he’s “not even mad” at WWE anymore.

Roots of Fight sells clothing that honors legends in boxing, pro wrestling, and across all of sports.

Through Fanatics, WWE also has partnerships with rapper Drake’s OVO brand and Erin Andrews’ women’s clothing company WEAR.

Ric Flair ‘not even mad’ at WWE anymore despite Roots of Fight removal

Just one day after claiming that WWE was trying to “destroy” his legacy, Ric Flair is ready to put the situation behind him.

Flair sent out a tweet on Tuesday announcing that he was being removed from Roots of Fight, a clothing brand centered around legendary athletes across sports. Flair said it was WWE’s call to have him removed, and he claimed that WWE was trying to kill his legacy by doing so.

In a follow-up video today, Flair said he understands business and isn’t mad at WWE anymore over the situation. He thanked Roots of Fight for allowing him to represent the brand during the time he was affiliated with them.

“I just want to take this opportunity to thank Roots of Fight for letting me represent them over the years,” Flair said. “It’s a pretty cool thing to have. It’s not as cool as being inducted into the Hall of Fame, but you’d be amazed at how many people admire and respect this brand. I think I’ve represented it well. People love it. I’m proud to have been part of the organization.

“I’m not even mad at the people that took it away from me. I was at first, but I understand business, and business comes first. You always want to think that they’ll make an exception, but sometimes exceptions just can’t be made. So Roots of Fight, thank you for the honor and the privilege of representing you. And I look forward to seeing the next member of a great team. God bless. Thank you.”

The 77-year-old Flair is under contract with AEW, which likely has something to do with this Roots of Fight merch deal falling through. The company has also produced merchandise based on Bret Hart, Roddy Piper, CM Punk, Randy Savage, Rey Mysterio, Andre the Giant, and Iron Sheik.

Flair debuted for AEW in 2023 during Sting’s retirement tour but now only makes very sporadic on-camera appearances for the promotion.

Ric Flair says WWE is trying to ‘destroy’ his legacy

Ric Flair is currently at odds with WWE over a merchandising deal that he’s been removed from.

The 77-year-old Flair sent out a tweet today saying that he’s no longer allowed to have merchandise with Roots of Fight, a company that offers clothing based on legendary athletes across sports. Flair, who is under contract with AEW, stated that it was WWE’s call for him to be removed from Roots of Fight. Bret Hart, Roddy Piper, CM Punk, Randy Savage, Rey Mysterio, Andre the Giant, and Iron Sheik also have items on the Roots of Fight website.

In the tweet, Flair said he’s grateful to still be able to make money through memorabilia company Fiterman Sports, the Offset & Metro Boomin song “Ric Flair Drip,” and his AEW deal.

“I Woke Up This Morning To Find Out That I’m No Longer Allowed To Be With @rootsoffight Per @WWE,” Flair wrote. “Let Me Think- I’m The Only Wrestler To Ever Be On 30 For 30 & Ranked In The Top 25 Of All Time, An Emmy Nominated Documentary-Courtesy Of The WWE, Which I Should Have Won But l Lost To A Team Not An Individual. 21 World Championships, But I Always Played By Your Rules And Kept It At 16. Paid Vince McMahon Back 800k When He Said He Would Forgive It. I Honored It.

“Fortunately, I Still Make 1 Million Dollars From The GREAT Ryan Fiterman @FitermanSports. 500k From Ric Flair Drip. And Thank God For @TonyKhan. What More Of My Legacy Do You Want To Destroy WWE? You All Grew Up Loving Me And I Set The Bar. Now You Are Trying To Kill Me And Diminish My Legacy. Thank You, But It Ain’t Happening. Nice Try. LFG!”

Flair then made a follow-up post saying that he’ll be interviewed by Yahoo Sports on Monday and will further address the situation.

Despite being under contract with AEW, Flair only makes very limited appearances for the promotion. He initially joined AEW to be part of Sting’s retirement run and for a sponsorship deal with his Wooooo! Energy drink.

Flair’s daughter Charlotte is with WWE and will be challenging for the Women’s Tag Team titles at night one of WrestleMania 42 on Saturday, April 18. The four-way match has Nia Jax & Lash Legend defending against Charlotte & Alexa Bliss, The Bella Twins, and Bayley & Lyra Valkyria.

Ric Flair reflects on 77th birthday: ‘Everything was perfect’

Ric Flair had a “perfect” day on Wednesday celebrating his birthday.

The wrestling legend turned 77 years old on February 25, a milestone that is especially sweet after successfully battling skin cancer in 2025. Flair sent out a message today thanking everyone who reached out and made his day special. A party for him was held at The Pearl restaurant in Tampa.

“If You Have To Be 77, I Couldn’t Have Enjoyed A Better Day In My Life,” Flair wrote. “Everything Was Perfect. Thank You To Everyone Who Reached Out And For All The Nice Messages On Social Media. Thank You To The Pearl For The Great Party Last Night! WOOOOO!”

Flair’s daughter Charlotte posted a tweet yesterday wishing her father a happy birthday and telling him she loves him as “big as the sky.” Among the celebrities to reach out to Flair were rapper Killer Mike.

Earlier this month, Flair fueled speculation about an in-ring return when he revealed that an undisclosed promoter had offered him a comeback match against Ricky Morton. However, Flair quickly shut that speculation down and clarified that he will never wrestle again. His last match took place in 2022, and Flair passed out multiple times during that bout.

Charlotte seemed to be very much against the idea of her father coming out of retirement, tweeting “absolutely not” when the subject was brought up.

Flair is still under contract with AEW but only makes very sporadic appearances for the promotion. He was brought into AEW in 2023 for a sponsorship deal and to be part of Sting’s retirement run.

Ricky Morton says he’s going to ‘pass’ on match vs. Ric Flair

Ricky Morton says “some moments don’t need a sequel.”

Ric Flair recently mentioned that he had been approached about coming out of retirement to wrestle a match against Morton, though Flair said they were “way off on financial terms.” In a social media post on Saturday, Morton said he is passing on the idea.

Morton wrote:

“As cool and exciting as it sounds, I’m going to have to pass on the idea of one more match vs. Ric Flair. Ric already had his last match, and it was an honor to be part of that show. Some moments don’t need a sequel. They need to be respected, remembered, and celebrated forever.”

Morton followed that up with a comment that if he were to ever have a retirement match, he would want it to be for either GCW or the NWA.

“& if we ever were to do it… It would be on my terms. It would either be in a @GCWrestling_ or @nwa wrestling ring.”

Shortly after Flair’s comments about wrestling again made headlines last week, he responded with a social media post confirming he will never wrestle again.

Morton was on the undercard for Ric Flair’s Last Match, the 2022 pay-per-view featuring Flair teaming with Andrade El Ídolo against Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett. He teamed with his son Kerry Morton in a loss to Brian Pillman Jr. and Brock Anderson.

Ric Flair shuts down in-ring return speculation

Ric Flair isn’t going to come out of retirement, though it sounds like he was at least considering the possibility recently.

During a virtual signing for K&S WrestleFest that took place on Thursday, Flair mentioned that “somebody” was wanting him to return to the ring for one more match against Ricky Morton. Flair did not reveal who was trying to book the match — and he said they were “way off on financial terms.” The 76-year-old Flair did note that he liked the idea of having something that would motivate him when he goes to the gym every day.

A return doesn’t look to be in the cards, though, with Flair posting a tweet responding to the speculation that was created by his comments. Flair reaffirmed that he will never wrestle again.

“First, Let Me Clear Something Up! I Will Never Wrestle Again,” Flair wrote before then promoting an upcoming personal appearance. “I’m Heading To Flair Country. Charleston, South Carolina Get Ready! The Nature Boy And @FitermanSports Are Taking Over @SpookyEmpire This Weekend! If You Want To Be The Best, You Gotta Be With The Best! Come See Me Saturday & Sunday!”

Flair, one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, last competed in the ring when he and Anrade El Idolo faced Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett in 2022. The tag bout headlined a Ric Flair’s Last Match special that was promoted by Flair’s son-in-law Conrad Thompson under the Jim Crockett Promotions banner. During the match, Flair passed out multiple times.

In 2025, Flair battled health problems including skin cancer and a rotator cuff injury. He announced last July that he is now cancer-free.

Ric Flair offers to reimburse fan after Cameo controversy

After making some headlines because of his Cameo videos, Ric Flair is offering to reimburse someone who was disappointed with the product they received.

The controversy became a story last month when outlets like People picked up on the negative reviews that Flair’s Cameo videos were getting. In one instance, a woman name Tina said she spent nearly $1,000 for Flair to send a video to her brother Eric in celebration of his wedding. Flair recorded the video in what appeared to be a bar/restaurant — and he told Eric that he should not get married.

“Why would you get married, motherf*cker?,” Flair said. “It’s the worst possible commitment you could do.”

Another reviewer said they spent $600 on a video that Flair recorded while “blasted out of his mind,” with Flair calling their father “Barf” instead of “Buff.”

Flair finally responded to the controversy today and apologized that it took so long to address. Presumably referring to the wedding video, Flair asked the person to reach out to his lawyer to be reimbursed for the money they paid.

“I Wouldn’t Want Anyone To Have A Bad Experience As They Keep Pouring In. So To Make Things Right, I Am More Than Happy To Reimburse The Person That Seems To Be Unhappy With Their @Cameo,” the 76 year old tweeted. “Please Reach Out To My Law Firm In Boston- Hartman Law. I Apologize For Not Addressing This Sooner.”

Cameo is a service where fans can buy personalized videos from their favorite celebrities. The videos are usually given as gifts for occasions like birthdays and weddings.

In 2025, Flair battled health issues including skin cancer and a rotator cuff injury. He announced in July that he is now cancer-free after undergoing skin cancer treatment.

April 10, 2008 Observer Newsletter: Ric Flair retires at WWE WrestleMania 24

If you leave this business with one person having a tear in their eye, you are a lucky man.”

Ric Flair – September 1997 in a promo after the NWO angle where they did a parody of the Arn Anderson retirement speech

The most spectacular finish of what can be argued is the career of the greatest wrestler in history ended up as, the greatest television moment in wrestling history.

The day after Wrestlemania, in Orlando, FL, on Raw, Ric Flair was honored in a way no wrestler ever has been.

“I will never wrestle in this ring again,” said Flair, who was crying all day, but completely composed for his farewell promo. But after HHH came out, he broke down in the most emotional moment that didn’t involve a death in many years.

Flair thanked the fans, saying he’s in a good place now, he’s not sad, and that he can rejoice because he had the greatest career of any wrestler in history. He noted he lost to a great wrestler and an even better man. There were “Thank you Ric” chants even as this just got going.

March 31, 2008 Observer Newsletter: Reflecting on Ric Flair’s retirement tour, Konnan sues TNA

“And now, the end is near, and so I face the final curtain” – Lyrics from the song “My Way,” written by Paul Anka, but the most famous version of which was sung by Frank Sinatra

Since many of you will be reading this after Wrestlemania, there is no point in previewing the show or the weekend.

It’s a weird feeling a few days out. Even though it’s hardly been promoted as the key thing on the show, the biggest, most tangible thing on the show for a long-time fan is Ric Flair’s wrestling career is about to end. We’ve known about it for more than a year. It was his call and it was Vince McMahon’s call, going into the Hall of Fame and having a retirement match the next day. Of course, in WWE, plans constantly change. It was a year ago when Steve Austin came up with the blueprint of his retirement run, but even before that, the Hall of Fame Saturday and retirement Sunday had been the plan.

Ric Flair & Mike Tyson sue cannabis company for alleged embezzlement scheme

Mike Tyson & Ric Flair are teaming up together in court.

The New York Post reported on Tuesday that the WWE Hall of Famer and boxing legend filed a lawsuit in Illinois accusing executives Chad Bronstein, Adam Wilks, and Nicole Cosby of former cannabis licensing company Carma HoldCo Inc. of criminal wire fraud, money laundering, extortion, and securities fraud. They are seeking $50 million in damages.

“Throughout their time at CARMA, Bronstein and Wilks treated CARMA as their own personal piggy bank, using more than $1 million to pay for unauthorized personal travel on private jets, costs associated with Bronstein’s personal yacht, renovations to Bronstein’s personal residence, a mortgage payment for Wilks’ personal residence, and lavish entertainment expenditures for Wilks, including exorbitantly priced meals and travel expenditures, as well as excessive and unapproved compensation and bonuses,” the filing obtained by the Post said.

Wilks denied the allegations in a statement.

“These claims are as credible as the people they come from — in short, the allegations are without substance,” Wilks’ attorney Terry Campbell said. “This is nothing more than an attempt to spit out an earful of salacious headlines and attempt to coerce my client into paying money to them when he did nothing wrong.”

Bronstein and Cosby’s attorney, Jonathan Cyrluk, also denied the accusations in a statement.

“The complaint is fiction dressed up as a lawsuit. Before filing, the plaintiffs tried to intimidate my clients with settlement demands that read more like a shakedown than a legal claim— demanding millions of dollars and attempting to force others to surrender their Carma shares. My clients won’t be bullied and are prepared to knock out this meritless lawsuit in court,” the statement reads.

Carma HoldCo previously filed a lawsuit against Bronstein after he had left the company, accusing him and Cosby of stealing the “Real American Beer” concept featuring Hulk Hogan.

Ric Flair pays tribute to John Cena before final match

Ric Flair paid tribute to John Cena on social media ahead of Cena’s final match, joining several WWE legends in honoring the 17-time world champion.

Sharing a post on social media, Flair sent a message to Cena ahead of his retirement match on Saturday Night’s Main Event. The WWE Hall of Famer wished Cena luck before his match against Gunther, as well as shared some kind words for him.

“John Cena You Have Represented The WWE, Our Business, Our Brand,” Flair wrote. “Congratulations On A Phenomenal Retirement! Good Luck Tonight Man! I Will Make Sure The World Is Watching, Well At Least In Tampa! Please Know That You’re One Of A Kind, And It Will Be Light Years Before Anyone Replaces You. Even Though Vince Put An End To Us Hanging Out Together On The Road, You Will Be A Hero To A Lot Of Us Forever! Kick Ass & Never Look Back! WOOOOO!”

Earlier this year at WrestleMania 41, Cena defeated Cody Rhodes to win his 17th World Championship and broke Flair’s long-standing feat of 16 World title wins.

Cena is now scheduled to headline Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. against Gunther.

Ric Flair thanks Roman Reigns for ‘biggest compliment I’ve received in years’

Ric Flair is honored to have received a big compliment from WWE star Roman Reigns.

On social media earlier this week, Fanatics put out a video where Reigns played a game where he had to stop them when they named a wrestler who is better than he is. Reigns placed himself above his co-workers Bronson Reed, Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, Cody Rhodes, LA Knight, and Drew McIntyre — but he stopped when Flair’s name was mentioned.

Flair responded to the video this morning, calling it the biggest compliment he’s received in years.

“Thank You For The Respect @WWERomanReigns!,” the 76-year-old wrestling icon tweeted. “This Has To Be The Biggest Compliment I’ve Received In Years!”

Flair, who is under contract with AEW, was supposed to be on the Blood & Guts episode of Dynamite last month, but he had to leave the event early and was only able to make a brief appearance in front of the crowd before the show began due to pain from a rotator cuff injury he’s been dealing with.

Recently, Flair made headlines by claiming that Hulk Hogan’s death was caused by “street drugs” Hogan was taking to help with the pain from surgeries he had undergone.

Reigns competed in the men’s WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series last weekend. His team was on the losing side after a mystery man — believed to be the returning Austin Theory — helped Breakker, Reed, Logan Paul, McIntyre & Brock Lesnar get the victory. The PLE ended with some dissension between Reigns and Rhodes.

Hulk Hogan’s widow denies Ric Flair’s ‘street drugs’ death claim

Hulk Hogan’s family is denying Ric Flair’s claims regarding his death.

Hogan’s widow Sky told TMZ Sports on Monday that Flair’s allegations that street drugs caused his death were not true.

“That didn’t happen at all,” she said.

Sky said that Hogan was under constant care of Morton Plant Hospital in Florida, and the only changes to Hogan’s medicine came following his neck procedure to make sure whatever he was taking didn’t impact his lungs. TMZ additionally asked other family sources about Flair’s claim who also denied the allegations.

On social media, Ric Flair said he should have never mentioned it and asked to move past the incident so Hogan’s legacy can be focused on instead.

“Okay Sky! I Got Bad Information According To You,” he wrote. “I Should Have Never Mentioned It. I Have Known Hogan Since 1979. Let’s Just Move Past This And Concentrate On His Legacy. Period, End Of Story. Let’s PRESERVE HIS LEGACY Rather Than Dwell On Any Negative Energy. I Repeat- Hulkamania Forever!”

Flair claimed in a recent interview that Hogan’s death was due to “street drugs” he sought out after doctors stopped prescribing him medicine for pain. Flair later posted on social media said he was only repeating what he knew to be a fact through family members.

Hogan died on July 24, with his official cause of death being listed as a heart attack. It has been previously reported that Sky is looking to file a malpractice lawsuit against “at least one of [Hogan’s] doctors and others” over an operation that took place shortly before his passing.
