AEW Rampage drops below 300,000 viewers in early time slot

Friday night’s episode of AEW Rampage averaged 298,000 viewers on TNT, down 19.7 percent from the previous week when the show aired on a Saturday. It’s the second-lowest viewership Rampage has ever done.
While Rampage was on its normal night last Friday, it aired three and a half hours earlier than usual due to the NHL playoffs. It was originally announced that the episode would air at 5:30 p.m. Eastern, but it was moved again and began at 6:30 p.m.
In the 18-49 demo, Rampage ranked 32nd on the cable charts with a 0.09 rating. That’s down 25 percent from the previous week. It’s the lowest rating for the show since February 17 and is also Rampage’s second-lowest rating of all time.
Rampage’s ratings were down from the previous week in most categories, but the show was actually up with young women. Females 12-34 were up 14.3 percent, while women 18-49 were even. The biggest decline was with males 12-34, which were down 42.9 percent. It’s the second straight week of big declines in that demo. Two weeks ago, Rampage drew a 0.19 rating with males 12-34. It was down to a 0.04 rating this week.
As compared to the same week in 2022, Rampage was down 35.8 percent in overall viewers and down 35.7 percent in the 18-49 demo. That’s not a fair comparison, however, as the show aired in its normal time slot last year.
Listed below are the last 11 weeks of overall viewership and 18-49 demo ratings for Rampage, along with the 10-week averages in both categories. This week’s show was down 29.7 percent in overall viewers and down 30.8 percent in 18-49 as compared to the recent averages.

AEW Rampage ratings drop for Saturday episode

Saturday night’s edition of AEW Rampage, which was moved to that night due to TNT’s NHL playoff coverage, averaged 371,000 viewers. That’s down 41.9 percent from the previous week (with an NBA lead-in on Friday) but virtually identical to the 373,000 viewers the show averaged the last time it aired on a Saturday on March 25.
In the 18-49 demo, Rampage finished 26th on the cable charts with a 0.12 rating, down 42.9 percent from last week. It was up 20 percent from the March 25 Saturday episode, however.
Rampage’s ratings were down from last week in every demo. The biggest drop came with males 12-34, which were down 63.4 percent. From the March 25 show, there was a big increase with females 12-34. Rampage more than tripled its rating in that demo, going from a 0.02 to a 0.07. Males in that same age group were down 30 percent from March 25 and also drew a 0.07 rating, meaning the audience was split evenly between males and females in that age group, which is rare for a wrestling show.
As compared to the same week in 2022, Rampage’s overall audience was down 28.4 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 36.8 percent.
Listed below are the last 11 weeks of overall viewership and 18-49 demo ratings for Rampage, along with the 10-week averages in both categories. This week’s show was down 12.5 percent in overall viewers and down 7.7 percent in 18-49 as compared to the recent averages.

AEW Rampage to air in earlier time slot on May 5

AEW Rampage will air outside its normal time slot for a fourth consecutive week on May 5.
Dave Meltzer reports in today’s Daily Update that the Friday, May 5 edition of Rampage will air at 5:30 p.m. Eastern time due to TNT coverage of the NHL playoffs. TNT’s schedule confirms the report.
Dave wrote:
Rampage on 5/5 will air at 5:30 p.m. Eastern time and likely 2:30 p.m. Pacific due to sports on TNT.
The April 14 Rampage show began at 9:42 p.m. Eastern after coverage of the NBA playoffs, airing earlier than its usual 10 p.m. time, with the NBA lead-in contributing to the highest viewership for the show since 2021.
Last week’s episode aired on Saturday, April 22 at 10 p.m. Eastern rather than in its usual Friday, 10 p.m. Eastern slot.
This week’s Rampage is set to air on Friday, April 28 at 5:30 p.m. Eastern time. Dustin Rhodes and Keith Lee will team on the show.
Rampage was moved to different time slots twice in March due to TNT coverage of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, and coverage of the United States Men’s National Soccer team.

NBA lead-in boosts AEW Rampage to best viewership since 2021

With the benefit of a lead-in from the NBA, Friday night’s episode of AEW Rampage averaged 639,000 viewers on TNT, up 27 percent from the previous week. It’s the largest audience total for the show since September 17, 2021.
Rampage finished seventh on the cable charts with a 0.21 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 23.5 percent from the previous week and is Rampage’s best rating in that category since April 8, 2022.
Rampage aired immediately after an NBA play-in game that averaged 2.26 million viewers and finished second on the cable charts with a 0.76 rating in 18-49. Another play-in game on ESPN took the top spot on cable.
Rampage’s ratings were up from last week in every category with the biggest increase coming with females 12-34, which were up 80 percent.
As compared to the same week in 2022, Rampage was up 32.6 percent in overall viewers and up five percent in 18-49.

As compared to the same week in 2022, Rampage was down 16.2 percent in overall viewers and down 32 percent in 18-49.
Battle of the Belts VI, which aired immediately following Rampage, averaged 415,000 viewers. That’s up 1.5 percent from the previous Battle of the Belts special in January. AEW Rampage ratings down, record low viewership for normal time slot

Friday night’s episode of AEW Rampage averaged 340,000 viewers on TNT, down 8.9 percent from the previous week. It’s the lowest audience total in the history of the show for an episode that aired in its normal Friday 10 p.m. time slot. The record low was on February 17 of this year when Rampage aired at 7 p.m.
In the 18-49 demo, Rampage finished 42nd on the cable charts with a 0.10 rating, which is even with the previous week’s Saturday episode. The show went against stronger-than-usual sports competition with the women’s NCAA basketball tournament averaging more than five million viewers head-to-head. The game topped the cable charts with a 1.27 rating.
This ties the lowest 18-49 demo rating Rampage has drawn it its normal time slot.
Rampage also went against ROH’s Supercard of Honor pay-per-view and WWE’s Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday night.
Rampage’s ratings were even or down in every demo with the exception of women 18-49, which were up 16.7 percent. The biggest decline was with males 12-34, which were down 50 percent.
As compared to the same week in 2022, Rampage’s overall audience was down 25.4 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 33.3 percent.
Listed below are the last 11 weeks of overall viewership and 18-49 demo ratings for Rampage, as well as the 10-week averages in both categories. This week’s show was down 16.8 percent in overall viewers and down 16.7 percent in 18-49 as compared to the recent averages.

The Rampage episode was moved to Saturday due to TNT’s coverage of a United States vs. Grenada soccer game.
