AEW Collision ratings up, Battle of the Belts draws record-low numbers

Saturday night’s AEW Collision episode averaged 346,000 viewers on TNT, up 28.6 percent from two weeks ago when the show went against WWE Bad Blood. Collision did not air last week due to AEW’s WrestleDream pay-per-view.

This is the third-highest audience total for the show since August 24.

The episode drew a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s double what the show did two weeks ago and also ties the third-highest rating Collision has done since its August 24 episode.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Collision was down 33.2 percent in total viewers and down 37.5 percent in 18-49.

Battle of the Belts XII, which immediately followed Collision, averaged 304,000 viewers and drew a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demo. The numbers are the lowest in Battle of the Belts history and are down 1.3 percent in total viewers and down 11.1 percent in 18-49 from the previous special in July.

AEW Collision and Battle of the Belts ratings down

Saturday night’s AEW Collision episode averaged 382,000 viewers on TNT, down 19.1 percent from the previous week. It’s the second-highest audience total the show has done since June 29.

Collision drew a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 20 percent from last week and is the lowest number for the show since July 6.

Battle of the Belts XI aired on TNT immediately after Collision, averaging 308,000 viewers. That’s down 27 percent from the last Battle of the Belts special and is the lowest viewership total in the history of the show. It drew a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demo, which ties the lowest rating in Battle of the Belts history.

Collision/Battle of the Belts went head-to-head with NBC’s Olympic coverage as well as the UFC 304 prelims and the start of the UFC 304 PPV broadcast.

As compared to the same week in 2023, the overall viewership for Collision was down 48.3 percent while the 18-49 rating was down 55.6 percent. Battle of the Belts (which aired two weeks earlier last year) was down 41.2 percent in overall viewers and down 40 percent in 18-49 as compared to the 2023 edition.

AEW Collision & Battle of the Belts ratings down against NFL playoffs

Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision averaged 400,000 viewers on TNT, down 0.5 percent from the previous week. It’s the lowest audience total for the show since November 25 and is the second-lowest number Collision has done on a Saturday night where there was not a WWE premium live event on the same day. 

The show did go head-to-head with an NFL playoff game on Peacock that was the most viewed streaming event in history with over 23 million viewers.

Collision drew a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 23.1 percent from last week and is also the lowest rating since the November 25 episode. It’s the lowest rating for a Collision episode without WWE competition.

Battle of the Belts, which immediately followed Collision on TNT, averaged 351,000 viewers and drew a 0.09 rating in 18-49. That’s the second-lowest viewership total of the nine Battle of the Belts specials that have aired thus far. It’s the lowest 18-49 rating that Battle of the Belts has ever drawn.

Battle of the Belts did retain nearly 90 percent of the overall audience of Collision and exactly 90 percent of the 18-49 demo rating, which is higher than the show usually does.

AEW Collision ratings up, remains over 500k viewers

Saturday night’s episode of AEW Collision averaged 518,000 viewers on TNT, up 2.8 percent from the previous week. It’s the best audience total for the show since September 23.

Collision drew a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 14.3 percent from last week and ties the second-highest rating the show has done since August 17.

The show had the usual strong competition from college football, which dominated the cable charts, as well as the MLB National League Championship Series on TBS, which was the top non-football programming on TV with 4.6 million viewers and a 1.11 rating in the 18-49 demo.

Battle of the Belts VIII, which immediately followed Collision on TNT, averaged 397,000 viewers and drew a 0.13 rating in 18-49. That’s down 24.2 percent in overall viewers and down 13.3 percent in 18-49 from the previous episode that aired in July. It’s the second-lowest total audience of the eight Battle of the Belts specials that have aired to date and the fourth lowest 18-49 rating.

The last time both shows aired back to back on Saturday, Battle of the Belts retained 90.5 percent of the Collision lead-in with overall viewers and 75 percent of the 18-49 audience. This time, the show retained only 76.6 percent of the overall viewers but 81.3 percent of the 18-49 audience.

AEW Collision ratings stay consistent, Battle of the Belts up

Saturday night’s episode of AEW Collision averaged 579,000 viewers on TNT, down 0.2 percent from the previous week. It’s the second-lowest audience total of the five episodes that have aired to date. 

Collision drew a 0.20 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 4.8 percent from last week. That’s the third-lowest rating for Collision so far. 

Battle of the Belts VII, which aired on TNT immediately following Collision, averaged 524,000 viewers. That’s up 26.3 percent from the last Battle of the Belts special in April. It’s the third-highest viewership total for Battle of the Belts, which has aired in various time slots on Friday and Saturday since debuting in January 2022.

Battle of the Belts drew a 0.15 rating in 18-49. That’s up 7.1 percent from the last special and is also the third-highest rating in the history of the quarterly special.

AEW Rampage ratings up, ranks sixth on cable

Friday night’s episode of AEW Rampage averaged 503,000 viewers on TNT, up 47.9 percent from the previous week. It’s the highest audience total for the show since January 13 and the third highest of the year to date. 

In the 18-49 demo, Rampage finished sixth on the cable charts with a 0.17 rating, up 70 percent from last week. It’s Rampage’s best rating in the key demo since December 23.

Rampage’s ratings were up in every demo with the biggest increase coming with females 12-34, which were up 150 percent from last week. The show also more than doubled its rating with males in that age group, as well as with people 18-34 and people 25-54. 

As compared to the same week in 2022, Rampage was down 16.2 percent in overall viewers and down 32 percent in 18-49. 

Battle of the Belts VI, which aired immediately following Rampage, averaged 415,000 viewers. That’s up 1.5 percent from the previous Battle of the Belts special in January. The show finished 12th for the night in the 18-49 demo with a 0.14 rating. That’s up 27.3 percent from the last Battle of the Belts.

As compared to the 10-week averages, Rampage was up 26.9 percent in overall viewers and up 41.7 percent in 18-49.

AEW Rampage, Battle of the Belts V ratings up

– Friday night’s AEW Rampage on TNT averaged 551,000 viewers for the first episode of 2023. That’s up 17.2 percent from the previous week and is Rampage’s second-highest viewership total since September 23.

In the 18-49 demo, Rampage finished 30th on the cable charts with a 0.15 rating, up 25 percent from last week. That’s tied for Rampage’s second-highest rating in the demo since October 14.

Rampage’s ratings were up in every category with the exception of females 12-34, which were down 14.3 percent. The biggest increase was with males in that same age group, which were up 66.7 percent.

As compared to the same week in 2022, Rampage’s overall viewership was down 6.3 percent and its 18-49 rating was down 37.5 percent, so this week’s show skewed much older.

– Battle of the Belts V, which immediately followed Rampage on TNT, averaged 409,000 viewers overall and drew a 0.11 rating in 18-49. The latter placed the show 58th on the cable charts.

Both numbers were up from Battle of the Belts IV, which averaged 317,000 viewers and drew a 0.10 rating in 18-49. That Battle of the Belts special also aired after Rampage.

AEW Rampage and Battle of the Belts ratings down

AEW saw ratings drops for its live two-hour programming block on Friday night.

– Friday’s episode of Rampage averaged 404,000 viewers on TNT, down 14.4 percent from the previous week. It’s the lowest audience for the show since July 29.

Rampage had strong competition from an MLB wildcard round playoff game on ESPN as well as the usual college football on FS1.

The show finished 20th on the cable charts with a 0.13 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 18.8 percent from the previous week and is Rampage’s lowest rating in that category since August 26.

Rampage’s ratings were even or down in every single demo. The biggest decline came with women 18-49, which dropped 33.3 percent to a 0.08 rating. That’s Rampage’s lowest number in that category since June 17.

As compared with the same week in 2021, Rampage was down 19.5 percent in overall viewers and down 23.5 percent in 18-49.

– Battle of the Belts IV, which immediately followed Rampage on TNT, averaged 317,000 viewers. It finished 37th on the cable charts with a 0.10 rating in 18-49. The viewership total and 18-49 rating are both the lowest numbers AEW has drawn of the four Battle of the Belts specials that have aired thus far. Two weeks ago, Rampage in the same time slot averaged 486,000 viewers and did a 0.16 in the demo for a taped show.

AEW Battle of the Belts III ratings down from previous specials

Saturday night’s AEW Battle of the Belts III averaged 437,000 viewers on TNT, down 17.1 percent from the previous edition of the special back in April. It’s the lowest viewership of the three Battle of the Belts events to date. 

In the 18-49 demo, Battle of the Belts finished 12th in the cable rankings on Saturday with a 0.12 rating. That’s down 33.3 percent from Battle of the Belts II and is less than half the rating the first Battle of the Belts show in January did.

The previous chart rankings were 10th for the first Battle of the Belts and 11th for the second, so — relative to the competition — these numbers are relatively stable. 

The audience retention from the previous night’s AEW Rampage, which aired on the same station, was 93.4 percent of total viewers and 80 percent in the key demo. 

As with other Battle of the Belts shows, Saturday’s edition featured three title matches, headlined by an ROH World Championship match between Claudio Castagnoli and Konosuke Takeshita.

AEW Battle of the Belts ratings down from previous special

Saturday night’s AEW Battle of the Belts II averaged 527,000 viewers on TNT, down 25.1 percent from the first Battle of the Belts that took place in January of this year.

The show finished 10th on the cable charts with a 0.18 rating in the 18-49 demo. The rating was down 33.3 percent from January’s Battle of the Belts. The first Battle of the Belts had finished 11th on the charts against tough competition, including the final week of the NFL regular season.

Battle of the Belts II had significant competition in the form of two NBA playoff games. A playoff game on ESPN averaged 3.6 million viewers overall and topped the cable charts with a 1.25 rating in 18-49. A separate game on ABC averaged 4.5 million viewers, also running directly opposite Battle of the Belts, and drew a 1.33 rating in the demo.

The UFC also had an event on ESPN, but only the first few minutes of the broadcast aired head-to-head with Battle of the Belts. The UFC show averaged 914,000 viewers and finished fifth on cable with a 0.31 rating in 18-49.
