NXT star responds to The Rock comparisons, says Ava doesn’t see the resemblance
Ricky Saints addresses comparisons to The Rock, claiming that even his daughter Ava disagreed with any commonalities.
In his interaction with TMZ Sports, Saints explained how the comparisons have become a common occurrence and do not bother him. He often brushes it off as a lazy insult.
“Well, you know, talking to his daughter, she would argue that’s not the case. She denies that at all. But getting compared to The Rock is fine at this point, it doesn’t bother me, it genuinely doesn’t. I think it’s kinda funny when you do one thing The Rock does and everyone’s like ‘see we knew it! We knew you were trying to be like The Rock for years and years!’. It’s like ‘Shut up, oh my God!’.
He joked about the parallels intended to be criticism which doesn’t quite land the way some may expect.
“Saying that I look like The Rock, if that’s the worst insult you have, that means I’m pretty damn attractive. The whole ‘Temu Rock’, hey buddy, you’re shopping on Temu? Wow.’”
“At this point I hear it so much that I find it funny, I used to get Mark Wahlberg at certain points. Matt Damon, I’ve got Matt Damon before.”
Saints made his NXT debut in February 2025 after nearly five years in AEW. Throughout his career, fans often pointed out similarities between him and The Rock, particularly when it comes to charisma and presentation.
Saints competed in the fatal four-way match for the NXT Championship at Stand & Deliver on April 12 where Tony D’Angelo walked away with the victory.

**********
NXT is back on the air in front of a live studio audience on a sound stage at the Performance Center in Orlando. Opening the show is the entrance of the new NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo.
Billed as the first “grand slam champion” in NXT history, D’Angelo gets into the ring for an opening monologue. The studio audience chants “you deserve it” before D’Angelo begins to speak.
Tony D says some people on the audience have seen him since day. Now is not just a man, but he is the man. He has finally become NXT Champion. D’Angelo goes on to say he is the first grand slam champion in history.
D’Angelo says along the way he made a lot of decisions. Some good and bad, but he would not change any of those decisions because they made him who he is now.
Tony D says his hands have an iron grip on the title. He says no one can take it from him, and he name drops Joe Hendry. Of course, when his name is said he appears as per his gimmick.
Out comes Joe Hendry and the studio audience that just gave D’Angelo a standing ovation is now gleefully clapping along to Hendry’s theme song.
Hendry says to say his name and he appears, but without the NXT title. Hendry congratulates D’Angelo on winning the title, and says he was the better man that night. But that is only one night, and they had to deal with “those two clowns.” If not for Ricky Saints and Ethan Page, would have D’Angelo still have won the title? Or would we still all be singing “we believe”?
Interrupting them is Ethan Page, who wants a one-on-one title match. Page uses air quotes when saying if he was not peroccupied by his “best friend”, then Page claims he would have beaten Hendry to become champion. Instead we have the “knockoff Punisher” as champ.
Ricky Saints enters to interrupt his so-called friend Page. Saints says that Page attacked him first, so do not blame his shortcomings on Saints. Had Page put his ego aside, Saints claims he would be the champ.
D’Angelo interjects to tell them all to get in line. The end result will still be D’Angelo winning. With that the lights go dark inside the sound stage and out comes Darkstate. They four members of Darkstate storm the ring under a strobe lights. A huge brawl breaks up as the show cuts to its first commercial break.
Security and wrestlers from the roster pour out to trying to separate the brawlers. After a commercial break, NXT General Manager Robert Stone is angry. Before screaming “that’ not how we start a show,” Stone orders D’Angelo, Hendry, Page and Saints to put their gear on because they are teaming up in an eight-man tag team match against Darkstate at the top of the hour.
Sol Ruca vs. Izzi Dame (with The Culling)
—
Like Dennis Stamp, part of the story of the match is Dame was upset she did not get booked in a match at Stand & Deliver.
The match itself goes through a commercial break. Ruca springboards into a corkscrew tornillo splash on the outside just before the break. When the show returns from commercials, the match continues. Ruc a soon springboards into a Buckshot Lariat of sorts.
Ruca fires up before delivering a missile dropkick for a near fall. They would go on to trade near falls, with Dame leaping off the top rope for a super codebreaker.
Dame takes a spear (which is foreshadows the arrival of Zaria), and Dame powders. Ruca goes for a moonsault. She lands on her feet after Niko Vance pulls Dame to away to safety while Shawn Spears distracts the referee. Suddenly, Zaria runs in to spear Ruca on the floor. Dame rolls Ruca back into the ring. Dame then uses a Liger bomb as a finisher before pinning Ruca.
Match result: Izzi Dame defeated Sol Ruca via pinfall after outside interference by The Culling and Zaria.
After the match, Zaria yells at a fallen Dame. “I say when this is over!”
— Vanity Project is in Robert Stone’s office along with Blake Monroe. The faction presents Monroe with a replica of the Women’s North American Championship. Stone objects to this, and he books a mixed tag team match where Monroe can choose any member of The Vanity Project as her partner. Monroe picks Jackson Drake as her tag partner against Tatum Paxley and Shiloh Hill.
— Elio Lefleur, with his arm in sling, joins Dorian Van Dux and EK Prosper (formerly Eli Knight) in a locker room skit. Van Dux thanks Lefleur for the opportunity that he gave him. Prosper says not so fast, because Van Dux must first defeat him.
Keanu Carver vs. Josh Briggs vs. Jasper Troy in a triple threat match
—
This is a three-way hoss fight, and the pummel each other like unstoppable forces meeting immovable objects. The match also goes through a commercial break.
Tandem offense at times, but each man for himself most of the time. Broken up pinning attempts and thunderous strikes throughout the match.
Troy gets a close near falls on Briggs after a chokeslam. He goes for another attempted chokeslam on Briggs, but Carver rushes in with a pounce that sends Troy crashing outside the ring. Another pounce by Carver, but this time the victim is Briggs. Carver follows up with a vertical suplex into a powerslam (which looks like a modified jackhammer), and Carver pins Briggs.
Match result: Keanu Carver defeated Josh Briggs and Jasper Troy when Carver pinned Briggs.
— NXT Women’s North American Champon Tatum Paxley is backstage talking with Shiloh Hill. There is some comedy until Ricky Saints walks up to chastise them for being weird. They make fun of him, and Saints calls them freaks.
— Saints was heading to the ring, but his ring entrance comes during a commercial break. Joe Hendry gets a full entrance before the show cuts to picture-in-picture. After the break, everyone is in the ring ready for the eight-man tag booked earlier tonight by Robert Stone.
Joe Hendry, Ricky Saints, Ethan Page and NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo vs. Darkstate (Dion Lennox, Cutler James, Saquon Shugars & Osiris Griffin) in an eight-man tag team match
—
Playing on prior tension, Ricky Saints and Ethan Page bicker. They would argue a few times, which backfires for their team. Good thing the story of the match was it was thrown together impromptu, because it seems thrown together.
Both Hendry and D’Angelo get to clean house at different times during the match. Lennox cuts off D’Angelo with a spinebuster as the show cuts to a commercial break. D’Angelo has recent history with Darkstate in their recent feud, and they work him over during the break.
Hot tag during the break, and Hendry runs wild. When the show finally returns from picture-in-picture, Hendry is being worked over by Darkstate. He is fighting back when the show returns to full screen, but Hendry is soon cut off. More heat on Hendry as Darkstate work him over.
NXT Men’s North American Champion Myles Borne runs in at ringside at one point wearing a suit. Borne attacks Lennox and they brawl at ringside. The rest of Darkstate are distracted by the attack on Lennox. Hot tag to D’Angelo, the heels bump and feed for Tony D.
Parade of high spots that leads to Hendry doing a dive over the ropes to the floor onto a group. Back in the ring, D’Angelo spears Shugars. The spear is the frontrunner for most overused move of the night. Anyway, D’Angelo gives Shugars a spinebuster, but Page makes a bling tag. Page boots D’Angelo out of the way, and Page delivers a Twisted Grin (Twist of Fate) on Shugars. Page then covers Shugars for a three count.
Match result: Joe Hendry, Ricky Saints, Ethan Page and NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo defeated Darkstate when Page pinned Shugars.
After the match, D’Angelo gives Page a spinebuster to get a bit of comeuppance.
— Jaida Parker cuts a promo on Kelani Jordan. They meet next week in a match.
Lexis King (with Birthright) vs. Chazz “Starboy” Hall in a speed tournament match
—
New to the NXT audience, Chazz Hall gets an inset promo during his entrance to introduce himself. Hall talks about tearing up the West Coast indie scene since he was 11 years old. In unrelated note, Hall looks like Spike Dudley with his gear.
Hall looks good in the match. He goes for a shooting star press, and King gets his knees up to block it. King then executes The Coronation, and King pins Hall.
Match result: Lexis King defeated Chazz Hall via pinfall to advance in the speed tournament.
Shiloh Hill & NXT Women’s North American Champion Tatum Paxley vs. Blake Monroe & Jackson Drake (with NXT Tag Team Champions The Vanity Project) in a mixed tag team match
—
Paxley and Monroe have a pose-off and tug-o-war at the start over the North American belts. They are doing a take-off on the Razor Ramon-Shawn Michaels feud from 1994 with the two title belts. One being the real title and the other being a fake.
Tandem offense at times. Paxley & Hill do stereo surfboards at one point before the show cuts to a commercial break.
Heat on Hill as he is worked over until a hot tag to Paxley. She runs wild on both Monroe and Drake. Brad Baylor tries to interfere at ringside, but Paxley kicks him away. That led to Hill doing a flip dive over the ropes on Vanity Project at ringside. Meanwhile, Paxley for a 450 and rolls through when Monroe evades the splash. Paxley and Monroe each tease their finisher.
Drake jumps and gets kicked by Paxley. However, that distracts Paxley enough that Monroe ambushes her with headbutt. Monroe then executes her Glamour Shot DDT, and Monroe pins the North American champ.
Match result: Blake Monore & Jackson Drake defeated Tatum Paxley & Shiloh Hill when Monroe pinned Paxley.
— Sarah Schreiber interviews Robert Stone in his office. This led to Stone announces a two-week special called NXT Revenge. Next week it begins with a main event where Tony D’Angelo defends his NXT title against Ethan Page. Week two is headlined by Sol Ruca against Zaria in a last woman standing match. Joe Hendry will also be in concert, Kali Armstrong debuts, and a new Speed champion crowned in the next two weeks on NXT.
— Kali Armstrong (not relation to “Bullet” Bob and his sons) is featured in a personality profile.
Fatal Influence confronts Lola Vice
—
NXT Women’s Champion Lola Vice enters the sound stage for an in-ring promo celebrating her title win. She also has her AAA Mixed Tag Team title belt with her.
Vice talks about winning the title until she is interrupted by former champion Jacy Jayne. Joining Jayne is her cohorts Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid. The studio audience boos Jayne unmercifully as she cut sa promo on Vice.
Out comes Robert Stone to book a title rematch for next week. The heels then jump Vice with Reid and Henley ambushing her, but Vice fights them off. Jayne barely escapes a spinning back fist from Vice as she flees the ring. The champion stands defiantly as the show goes off the air.
WWE NXT wrestler Elio LeFleur undergoes surgery
NXT wrestler Elio LeFleur has undergone surgery for the injury that forced him to vacate the men’s Speed Championship.
Last week, it was revealed that LeFleur would be out of action for six months due to torn labrum ligaments in his shoulder. The injury stems from an NXT house show that took place on March 20. After an injury angle was done, LeFleur appeared with his arm in a sling on NXT last Tuesday and announced that he was vacating the Speed Championship.
LeFleur then made a tweet today revealing that he will be starting the recovery process after undergoing successful surgery.
Surgery was a success.
— Elio LeFleur 🌸 (@ElioLeFleurWWE) April 7, 2026
See you soon. 💪 pic.twitter.com/bdPuk6LNzB
Formerly known as Aigle Blanc on the indies, LeFleur signed with WWE in 2025 and had his first televised match for the company in Lucha Libre AAA. He then officially joined the NXT TV roster this year. LeFleur became Speed Champion by defeating Jasper Troy and Eli Knight in a triple threat match this February.
WWE will be holding a tournament to crown the new men’s Speed Champion. It kicks off tonight on the Stand & Deliver fallout edition of NXT.
WWE files for ‘NXT Revenge’ trademark
This week, WWE made a trademark filing that looks to be for a new NXT event the company is planning.
WWE applied to trademark the term “NXT Revenge” on April 6, using the standard language it always does when trademarking event names. The goods and services section of the application lists that the trademark is for “the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events.”
- Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information
There has been no official announcement of the Revenge event yet, and there’s no word on whether it would be a TV special or PLE. NXT just presented its annual Stand & Deliver PLE this past weekend. Instead of taking place during WrestleMania weekend, WWE broke tradition this year by moving up Stand & Deliver and having it be held in St. Louis instead of Las Vegas.
NXT will present its Stand & Deliver fallout episode tonight, so an announcement of the brand’s next PLE could be coming soon. Battleground has typically followed Stand & Deliver on the NXT calendar.
MJF says he has pitched a Wednesday Night Wars documentary to Tony Khan
A Wednesday Night Wars documentary? It could happen.
On Late Night Grin, MJF revealed that he had pitched the idea to Tony Khan, mentioning that they now have some key talent that worked in NXT during the time the two brands went head-to-head on Wednesday nights.
“We literally won and we have guys that work in our company now that were on the other side. It would be f****** sick. You can sit down [Adam Cole] and [Roderick Strong], Kyle [O’Reilly] and Swerve. You know, all these guys that were on the other side of the war…you can’t sit down Bobby Fish unfortunately…I mean folks, where’s the lie?,” he said, borrowing Fish’s infamous quote.
A few months before AEW Dynamite made its debut on TNT, WWE announced that NXT would be moving to the USA Network on Wednesday nights, competing head-to-head with Dynamite. On the first night of head-to-head competition, Dynamite scored a big win of 1.4 million viewers over NXT’s 891,000. AEW would go on to win most weeks until 2021, when WWE chose to move NXT to Tuesday nights where it has remained ever since.

Sunday Update

— We’ll be back with Wrestling Observer Radio tonight talking Smackdown, Sakura Genesis, Stand & Deliver and the rest of the weekend news.
— We’ll talk about the SmackDown angles tonight on the show. As noted all weekend, this was an Ari Emanuel call to Pat McAfee to do the angle and not something from the Paul Levesque side. Of those we heard from internally, they were not fans of it to say the least.
— Willam Haynes, Jr., the former Billy Jack Hayes, was ordered to stand trial for the murder of his wife in 2024. He was previously ruled mentally unfit to stand trial in May. He underwent more testing and KATU-TV reported the decision was made for him to stand trial in 2027 for the death of wife Janette Becraft.
— MJF said on the Late Night Grin podcast that he told Tony Khan they should do a documentary on the Wednesday night War with NXT, noting that they could have interviews with Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Relly and Swerve Strickland who were in NXT at the time.
— Billy Corgan’s NWA at the Crockett Cup this weekend announced a TV deal with the Sci-fi channel COMET. No other details were announced. Comet in 2025 averaged 92,000 viewers and an 0.03 in 18-49in prime time.
— The Joshua Van vs. Tatsuro Taira UFC flyweight title match that was scheduled for the major show on 4/11 has been moved back to the May show. The new semifinal underneath Jiri Prochazka vs. Carlos Uhlbertg for the vacant light heavyweight title will be Azamat Murzakanov vs. Paulo Costa.
— Regarding Dynamite, it was third in the first hour behind FOX News (which had a giant night with the Donald Trump speech) and the NBA and fourth in the second hour, also behind CNN. It was actually up in 18-49 and 25-54 from last week, down in 18-34 but still the second highest Dynamite in 18-34 so far this year.
— Will Ospreay on X said that he hadn’t returned to Japan because he wanted a break and didn’t know how his body was going to feel doing long flights like that since he lives in the U.K., and works full-time with AEW.
— Jon Jones was involved in an incident last night. Bryan Betran, who drove in a car said he was nearly hit three times by a truck even after revving his engine the first time. He flipped the person off and he proceeded to stop in the middle of the road, backed up and came into the parking lot. He said he thought Jones was carrying a weapon but said he just wanted the whole thing to blow over. Jones’ side is that the kid chased his car down for two blocks and tried to intimidate him and said he was proud of himself for standing up for himself and not allowing any bullying or intimidation.
— We haven’t heard much yet from the weekend CMLL shows, but from reports the top weekend matches were Callum Newman’s IWGP title win over Yota Tsuji and Yuto-Ice & Oskar vs. Zack Sabre Jr. & Ryohei Oiwa from Sakura Genesis. Stand & Deliver was also a lot better than most of the recent NXT big shows.
— I didn’t monitor it closely but Stand & Deliver about 30 minutes into the show had 133,000 viewers and was doing 147,000 to 158,000 about an hour in on YouTube. Those were only U.S. numbers but still far smaller than I would have expected.
— We’re looking for your thoughts on NXT Stand & Deliver and NJPW Sakura Genesis, so you can leave a thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match to [email protected]
— Really not much on the Google search stuff for this weekend. Everything was low. The UFC show did 50,000. Stand & Deliver did 7,000. Deontay Wilder had 10,000 searches. Pat McAfee, Lil Yachty and nothing from Smackdown thing from Smackdown even hit the top 350 for the weekend.
— WrestleCon announced that Ted DiBiase Jr. would be coming this year.
— The Global Wars show from 3/27 from Maple Leaf Wrestling which as a joint show with ROH is now up on Honor Club.
— Scott Teal has released the first volume of his history of Stl Louis book, which covers August 27, 1873 to 1927. Volume 1 looks at the origins of pro wrestling in St Louis, matches in bars, theaters, athletic clubs and eventually moving to the Coliseum and Municipal Auditorium. WWE NXT Stand & Deliver preview, odds, and predictions
WWE NXT Stand & Deliver 2026 takes place today, and betting odds are available for the six matches scheduled for the main show.
As of press time for this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, 1,656 tickets have been distributed for the event, which will take place at The Factory at The District in Chesterfield, Missouri, just outside St. Louis.
Below are previews, predictions, and betting odds for each match on the show.

NXT Championship Fatal Four-Way: Joe Hendry defends against Tony D’Angelo, Ethan Page, and Ricky Saints
According to the betting odds, Joe Hendry is a strong favorite to retain the NXT Championship. He is currently a -500 favorite. Hendry’s odds are followed by D’Angelo at +125, Ethan Page at +600, and Ricky Saints also at +600.
Earlier in the week, Hendry had been a -250 favorite, indicating that money came in on him over the last few days.
I’m taking Hendry here. He just won the title last month.
Prediction: Joe Hendry

NXT Women’s Championship Triple Threat: Jacy Jayne defends against Lola Vice and Kendal Grey.
Lola Vice is currently a -200 favorite to win the NXT Women’s Championship. Kendal Grey is at +150, while champion Jacy Jayne has the longest odds in the match at +250.
I think it’s probably too early to put the belt on Grey despite how good she is. Vice is someone they are invested in too. She’s now gotten herself over in Bellator, NXT, and AAA. They’ve got something with her.
Prediction: Lola Vice

NXT Women’s North American Championship: Tatum Paxley defends against Blake Monroe
Tatum Paxley is favored to retain, with odds at -200 compared to Blake Monroe at +150.
I’m not altogether certain I agree with the oddsmakers on this one. I think the idea might be that people expect Monroe to get called up after Mania and having her regain the title doesn’t quite work with that. But Paxley is probably on the bubble for a call up too.
Prediction: Blake Monroe

NXT Tag Team Championship: The Vanity Project defends against Los Americanos
The Vanity Project are -200 favorites, while Los Americanos are at +150. Los Americanos don’t need the belts, but they help Vanity Project.
Prediction: Vanity Project

Zaria vs. Sol Ruca
Zaria is a -190 favorite to defeat Sol Ruca, who is at +140.
At first when I saw this line, I didn’t agree with it. I felt like people are assuming Zaria will win and then Ruca will go to the main roster. WWE has clearly tagged Ruca as someone they see a real future in, and I don’t know how quickly they are going to have her lose to anyone.
At the same time, the dynamic between the two characters seems to call for Zaria winning this match. It feels important for her to be established as a serious threat, and a win here would go a long way toward that.
Prediction: Zaria

NXT North American Championship: Myles Borne defends against Johnny Gargano.
Myles Borne is a -350 favorite, while Johnny Gargano is at +225. I don’t think Gargano is breaking out of his funk tonight. This will be just something else that adds to his general feeling of wanting to lay down.
Prediction: Myles Borne
Sol Ruca, Jacy Jayne comment on NXT Stand & Deliver schedule change
Sol Ruca, Jacy Jayne and several other members of the NXT roster addressed Stand & Deliver taking place separately from WrestleMania weekend this year in a recent interview.
Ruca told Fox News that while some are “bummed about it,” she believes having the show separate from WrestleMania has its benefits.
Ruca said:
“I think it’s pretty cool. I think a lot of us would love to be involved in the whole WrestleMania weekend, but I do think this gives us an opportunity to potentially draw a bigger crowd now that we’re separate because having to go to multiple shows in the same weekend – it can be a lot for the fans,” she said. “I think us having it a little bit separate from everything else and still having our own moment can also be beneficial. I know a lot of us are gonna be at WWE World anyway, so it’ll be kind of like having the two little WrestleMania moments. I think some of us are a little bummed about it, but I think it’ll be a good thing for us.”
The Fox News article also included comments from Ricky Starks, Tony D’Angelo, and others from the NXT roster about what having Stand & Deliver on a different weekend means for the show.
NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne said that she has “mixed feelings” about the change.
Jayne said:
“Yeah, I have mixed feelings about it, but I feel like this is the perfect opportunity for us to show that we really are the third brand,” she told Fox News Digital. “It’s not just a developmental brand. We can stand on our own. We can sell tickets. We’re not just the future, we’re the now.”

Myles Borne reveals how he started dating Stephanie Vaquer
Myles Borne opened up on the story of how he and Vaquer started dating, and who made the first move.
In an interview with Denise Salcedo, Borne revealed the first time they saw each other, they felt an instant connection but he was shy to approach her. He would try to build up the courage to talk to her but ended up awkwardly exiting the room or walking in the opposite direction.
“You know, honestly, when we first saw each other, we were like, okay, we noticed. And then, for the first couple of weeks, we knew we liked each other, but I would try to build up the courage to talk to her. And as soon as we cross path, I go the opposite direction. I promise every time. And she noticed it. And I remember one time we were backstage and she was I was coming in through one door to go to catering and she was coming through another door and as we intercepted path I turned back around and walked out. I didn’t even eat. I said, “Nope, I’m not eating now. I’m just going to get be hungry” ’cause I, you know, I was still trying to figure out how what I want to say to her.”
Borne said that Vaquer took the first step and messaged him for a dinner together. He also added that he takes note of fans wondering how they paired up and jokingly cited he ‘likes to win in every aspect of life.’
“Yeah, eventually she gave me no choice. She messaged me and she said, “Hey, let’s hang out. Let’s go have dinner.” And you know, we did. That’s what I was like, okay, now I have no choice. I have to just build up the courage, talk to her. And it was great. It was like the connection from the first day, like it, she’s just, she’s genuinely amazing person, and I’m lucky, you know. So, yeah. All the guys out there who are so mad, hey, I get it. I get it. But like I said, I want to win in every aspect in life and that’s one of the aspects.”
Borne signed with WWE in 2022 and trained at the Performance Center. In June that year he made his NXT debut. In February 2026, he defeated Ethan Page to win the NXT North American Championship.

The identity behind WWE’s trademark filed for “EK Prosper” has been made official.
WWE has officially renamed Eli Knight to EK Prosper on the website. A report from Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select cited that the name change was to avoid clashes with LA Knight, who before signing with WWE competed as Eli Drake on TNA.

He will compete in the 10-person mixed tag team match at NXT Stand & Deliver this weekend. The event will take place at The Factory at the District, St. Louis, Missouri on April 4.
