VIDEO: Prime Target NXT UK TakeOver Cardiff

Ahead of Saturday’s event, WWE has uploaded their “Prime Target: NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff” special to YouTube:

The 24-minute special premiered on the WWE Network yesterday and builds up the main event of UK TakeOver: Cardiff, with WALTER set to defend his WWE United Kingdom Championship against Tyler Bate.

The Prime Target special focuses on Bate’s start in wrestling, signing with WWE, and becoming the first WWE UK Champion. It features WALTER’s thoughts on the differences between his philosophy and Bate’s. Footage of WALTER coaching at the wXw Wrestling Academy in Germany is also shown.

Motorpoint Arena Cardiff is hosting TakeOver on Saturday. The pre-show begins at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time, with the main card starting at 2 p.m. Eastern. Here’s the lineup for the show:

  • WWE United Kingdom Champion WALTER defending against Tyler Bate
  • NXT UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm defending against Kay Lee Ray
  • NXT UK Tag Team Champions The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) defending against Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) and Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster in a triple threat match
  • Travis Banks vs. Noam Dar
  • Dave Mastiff vs. Joe Coffey in a last man standing match

WWE has also announced that Cesaro will be in attendance at TakeOver. Cesaro teased that he may take a more “hands-on approach.”

Cesaro to appear at NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff

WWE is teasing that Cesaro will be playing a part in NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff this Saturday.

In a video that WWE posted today, Cesaro said he’ll be paying a visit to Cardiff, Wales for Saturday’s event. “I’ve heard a lot of things about NXT UK, so I’m going to go to NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff to find out firsthand what it’s all about,” Cesaro said.

Cesaro ended the interview by saying he may take more of a “hands-on” approach at TakeOver.

Further details on Cesaro’s role at TakeOver have yet to be revealed.

A member of the main roster was in action at UK TakeOver: Blackpool back in January. After an angle where Jordan Devlin injured Travis Banks before their match, Finn Balor took Banks’ place and defeated Devlin.

Motorpoint Arena Cardiff is hosting Saturday’s UK TakeOver special. The main card will begin at 2 p.m. Eastern time.

Two more matches made official for NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff

The lineup for NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff looks to be officially set.

Two matches were announced for the special on this week’s NXT UK episode. Travis Banks will face Noam Dar, and NXT UK Tag Team Champions The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) will defend their titles against Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) and Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster in a triple threat match.

In storyline, Andrews & Webster earned their way into the Tag Team title match after getting wins on the past two episodes of NXT UK. Webster defeated Mark Coffey on the episode that aired last Wednesday, while Andrews defeated Drake on this week’s show.

Motorpoint Arena Cardiff is hosting UK TakeOver on Saturday, August 31. It’s the second TakeOver special in NXT UK history.

Last man standing match official for NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff

A last man standing match is the latest addition to the NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff lineup.

On this week’s NXT UK episode, it was confirmed that Dave Mastiff will face Joe Coffey in a last man standing match in Cardiff. The announcement comes after Mastiff and Coffey fought to a double countout in the main event of last Wednesday’s show.

Cardiff is the second TakeOver special in NXT UK history. Coffey lost to Pete Dunne in the main event of UK TakeOver: Blackpool in January, while Mastiff defeated Eddie Dennis in a no DQ match.

UK TakeOver: Cardiff is being held at Motorpoint Arena Cardiff on Saturday, August 31. NJPW Royal Quest and AEW All Out are both also taking place that day.

WALTER will defend the WWE United Kingdom Championship against Tyler Bate in the main event of UK TakeOver: Cardiff. Toni Storm will put her NXT UK Women’s Championship on the line against Kay Lee Ray.

Women’s title match set for NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff

A Women’s title match has been made official for NXT UK’s next TakeOver special.

NXT UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm will defend her title against Kay Lee Ray at UK TakeOver: Cardiff on Saturday, August 31. The announcement was made on this week’s NXT UK television episode.

KLR was set up as Storm’s next challenger by winning a number one contender’s battle royal last month. KLR then attacked Candy Floss on last week’s NXT UK episode after Storm defeated Candy Floss in a non-title match.

Storm cut a promo on this week’s show and mentioned how KLR took her under her wing when Storm first moved to the United Kingdom. She said KLR doesn’t have to attack anyone to get her attention, she’s ready when KLR is. KLR came out and teased facing Storm this week, but she said she’ll make Storm wait until Cardiff. KLR vowed to make Storm’s life a living hell until then.

TakeOver: Cardiff is NXT UK’s second TakeOver special. Storm became NXT UK Women’s Champion by defeating Rhea Ripley at the first special in Blackpool this January.

Storm vs. KLR is the first match to be confirmed for UK TakeOver: Cardiff.

WWE announces NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff for August

WWE has announced the date and host city for NXT UK’s second TakeOver special.

It was revealed on tonight’s NXT TakeOver XXV broadcast that NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff will be held in Cardiff, Wales on Saturday, August 31. The show will begin at 3 p.m. Eastern time and air live on the WWE Network.

NXT UK’s first TakeOver took place in Blackpool, England this January. WALTER made his debut at the end of the show, Toni Storm won the NXT UK Women’s Championship, and The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) became the first NXT UK Tag Team Champions.

WALTER went on to defeat Pete Dunne for the WWE United Kingdom Championship at NXT TakeOver: New York during WrestleMania week. With the help of Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner, WALTER defeated Dunne in a rematch on the May 22 episode of NXT UK.

NJPW Royal Quest is also taking place in London, England on August 31, and Hoffman Estates, Illinois is hosting AEW All Out later that night.
