Four AEW wrestlers appear at PWG Mystery Vortex 7

AEW stars appeared at tonight’s PWG Mystery Vortex 7 event.

In the co-main event, Orange Cassidy wrestled Evil Uno, with Cassidy winning the match. Elsewhere on the card JD Drake, part of the Wingmen stable in AEW, lost to ROH’s Brody King following a lariat on the second match of the card.

The main event of the show had ROH’s Bandido, who is both the ROH and PWG World Champion, defeat Impact’s Black Taurus in the main event. Malakai Black appeared at the end of the show following the match, where he helped Bandido and Brody King from an attack by a new group consisting of Super Dragon, Demonic Flamita, and Taurus.

ROH and Impact wrestlers also appeared on the card this evening, the first PWG show since late 2019. Impact’s Trey Miguel teamed with MLW’s Myron Reed to defeat Aramis and Rey Horus, the latter of whom also is a regular for ROH. Jonathan Gresham and Tony Deppen also appeared on the card.

PWG announces Threemendous VI for September 26

Pro Wrestling Guerilla has announced they will return with another show in September.

The company announced tonight that Threemendous VI will take place on Sunday, September 26 at the Globe Theater in Los Angeles. No matches or talent were announced.

PWG has not held a show since Makings of a Varsity Athlete back in December of 2019. A show called Kobe planned for March of 2020 was cancelled due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. Their first show back will be on August 1 when they will hold Mystery Vortex 7, a card where matches and talent are not announced until the show begins.

The last Threemendous card was held on July 13, 2018. On that card, then PWG World Champion WALTER defeated Brody King to retain the title.

The current PWG World Champion is Bandido, who won the title at Makings of a Varsity Athlete, defeating Jeff Cobb. Zachary Wentz and Desmond Xavier hold the PWG World Tag Team titles, but they signed with the WWE during the pandemic, making the status of the titles unclear.

PWG announces Mystery Vortex 7 event for August 1

PWG has announced Mystery Vortex 7 for August 1.

The company announced the show Monday evening. It will take place at the Globe Theater in downtown Los Angeles, which has been their home base for shows since 2018. Participants and matches for Mystery Vortex cards are not revealed ahead of time.

This will be the first PWG show since “The Makings of a Varsity Athlete” took place in December of 2019. An event called “KOBE” was scheduled for March of 2020, but that show was delayed due to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. PWG officially announced their return last month, announcing the August 1 date.

Current champions in the company are Bandido, who carries the PWG World Heavyweight Championship, and The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz) are the PWG World Tag Team Champions. During the course of the pandemic, The Rascalz signed with the WWE, where they are in NXT and are the NXT Tag Team Champions as MSK. PWG has not addressed the status of their tag team titles.
